20 Best Outdoor Fabric For Curtains (2022 Updated)

Why is the price so much higher then what Sunbrella (Product number#8053) is selling for at regularly. This doesn’t make sense this is great fabric I’ve had mine for 3 years almost 4, it has not faded and it is in extreme sun (Still looks great).

I just don’t understand why Joannes is overcharging. I Rate this product very high because it’s very durable, mold resistant and easy to clean. I would recommend when cutting use a heating knife/heated cutter witch will burn the edges so it won’t fray.

I gave very poor rating on price at Joannes. Always price check your product no matter what you buy at Joannes with other places don’t be fooled by their sale price. Just punch in the name of the product in Google Will do the work for you, you will find a lot of companies carrying the same product maybe cheaper but you’ll find out but always price check.

I love the color and the fabric seemed perfect for cushion wear and tear. The problem I’m having is it seems to be a magnet for outdoor fuzz. We’ll see if it continues. The raw edges do fray a lot. I’m not an experienced seamstress so hoping that I didn’t miss some step in making sure they don’t pull out.

Yarn dyed, so color is front and back. Nice thick fabric. I bought this fabric for chair cushions last year. My upholsterer finished them in time for a hot sunny summer. Cushions look like new after sitting out 24/7 for 5 months, spring to fall.

I bought more yardage for chaise cushions due to excellent wearing of fabric!.

These drapes look lovely in our living room, and the price was really good. We wanted some drapes to add just a little color, not a heavy blackout drape. These drapes are perfect. We ordered the longest panels, and our local alterations lady hemmed them just a little so that they hang from the ceiling to the floor, and look almost custom.

I just ordered a few extras to use as fabric to make matching throw pillows for our couch.

Purchased one set of these to try out on our double windows in our new home. Seems like good quality and durability soo far. I have not washed them yet so I cannot speak on that feature. They are Slight light filtering.

Doesn’t make the room dark. Nice texture and stitching. Just Purchased more for the rest of our house. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the fact that there are no other colors to choose from.

It would have been nice to have different colors in each room. I have already recommended these to family and friends. Price point is a little higher than I’d like but, the quality is worth it.

Nice quality outside fabrics. Quick dry. It cuts about 30% -35% of sun intensity and a half of the air flow. I specifically liked the wider versions of it.

I found a very good deal on these curtains at bed bath and beyond, got them online , fast delivery, and perfect in my bed room, I really liked the idea of washing and hanging curtains, no need for ironing, great for the price.

Chose this for Piping to compliment the STORM fabric from Sunbrella. Really nice look on the cushions. Excellent choice and quality. The fabric was a little less weight and that was what I wanted. I recommend getting the samples before you purchase any fabric, unless you know your item already.

Very nice fabric for the right project. It’s very stiff, so would be perfect for cushions and pillows with defined corners. I bought it to reupholster 6 chair cushions, with slightly curved corners.

The fabric was far to stiff to ease into the corners, leaving stiff folds on each corner that looked awful. I can’t use it. The color is gorgeous.

This marine grade of Sunbrella is very stiff. This makes it difficult to handle while sewing. I bought a new Heavy Duty Singer machine to handle this material. I am making a multi-piece boat cover. The fabric is very high quality and repels water which is good.

It works well for the type of boat cover I’m making. The Sky Blue is a beautiful color that goes really well with black.

I was looking for a nice durable fabric for covering some old chair cushions. I love my other sunbrella cushions, but since there were not samples in the store, I had to decide on a color/pattern based on the pictures.

I’d say the samples were true to color and I am very happy with my selection. I still need to complete the project, but I’m sure it will be great! I’m thrilled they carry this fabric at Joann!.

I am very happy with the curtains, I ended up with 11 panels so it looks like they will work out well. I did have a concern though, a few of panels were dirty in areas when I took them out of the package.

I hung them for now but will need to wash them and I hope the dark spots wash off. I did not use a solution on them yet and wondered if you have any recommendations? I did not want to send them back as I hoped the dark spots could be washed out but at $xx per panel, I am disappointed that I have to deal with it.

What would your recommend I do at this point?.

The dupione weave makes this a very substantial drapery that looks much higher quality than most outdoor draperies. the colorway “Pearl” is actually a pale, buttery yellow, not soft white as it appears in the picture, so I think “Pearl” is not a good description.

(Sunbrella’s poor choice, not the vendor’s. ) I had to return them for this reason, and both Houzz and Patio 34 (the vendor) were great to work with on the return. Five stars for customer service as well as a quality product.

they are well made, weathering excellently and look very classy and expensive for the price point. Got fast delivery and am very pleased with product. I have them hanging from rods on my pergola over my hot tub think I bought the curtain rods from you also.

Sunbrella upholstery fabric is the best material I have ever found for covering upholstery. I covered by living room couches and chairs with it and it’s still looks like new 12 years later. The only reason I bought more sunbrella upholstery was because I wanted to change the color.

Best deal for quality material which lasts for long periods of time.

This fabric was as we expected since we ordered samples of several fabrics. It arrived in good shape. Also we didn’t find any cheaper seller. It has a pine green thread running through it which is hard to notice even on the sample but the bolt shows it on the edges.

This is exactly what we were hoping for as it will be used to redo our patio cushions and our powder coat is pine green. We wanted a solid fabric so that regardless of placemat or tablecloth prints it would go well.

Can’t comment about fading yet as they are not made. The fabric is a sort of dark gold overall from a distance – it’s not as beigy as my computer shows but the sample was accurate and I recommend buying them before investing in large quantities of any fabric.

We ordered about 9 different fabrics and it was worth it.

Sunbrella is just the very best outdoor fabric. The curtains are beautifully made and anything I have ever ordered from Outdoor Curtains has been delivered very quickly. Even when my selection said “Backordered until November) they were delivered within 10 days.

I was able to buy a far less expensive pole at Lowes. I needed a 10ft pole. The hardware is expensive but very nice. So I did order the brackets but get your pole(s) at Lowes. We are able to block the West sun with these curtains.

You will not be disappointed in your curtains from this company. We plan to order more for further coverage.

I appreciate the Sunbrella fabric and all of the available colors. The curtains arrived as expected and have held up well so far in the Arizona sun. the only improvement I would suggest is to add a button to hold the weights in place.

We had a big wind storm and the weights ended up on the roof. Otherwise, I am very pleased with beauty function and quality.

The curtains are just ok! Material is substantial, but the sewing all around is a little gathered ang consequently does not hang straight. There was a terrible lack of knowledge by the person who took my order for the expensive poll.

The end caps would not fit because the brackets did not extend out far enough to accommodate their size. And they only sent one bracket. They don’t come in pairs! Was I supposed to balance the rod.

I really wanted to love these outdoor draperies. I live at the beach and believed these to be more substantial or heavier than Sunbrella by the description. Unfortunately, the 120″ wide weighs less that one panel of a 50″ Sunbrella drape.

The bottom hem is maybe an inch, and my Sunbrella 50 inches are a deep three or four inch hem that just looks better. Not sure what I will do with them but they will not work for the area I purchased.

Received curtain, but have not put it up yet. Looking for a solution to hang. My space is 12 feet wide and I would like to hang it on one rod. Nothing like a challenge!!

I recently bought some sunbrella fabric for a number of small projects for my sailboat. I use the material to recover seat cushions, make a sun cover for my tiller, and as a UV cover for my jib. This is great material for this kind of project as it provides good UV protection, sheds water and is remarkably fade resistant.

By ordering a larger quantity, I was able to get free shipping and it arrived in two days. What’s not to like?.

Feels great and looks high quality. I cannot vouch for durabillity as this is my first time ordering from FWD. I will happily update my review in the future if allowed so. My only complaint and reason for less than five stars is the way it was shipped.

I received my package of two colors of marine vinyl (1 yard each), folded in a standard USPS envelope mailer. It would be nice to know in advance that this is the standard way of shipping their vinyl and provide an option to purchase a rolled shipping alternative (maybe I missed the way it is shipped because of my excitement of ordering at such a great price).

I do like the vinyl and will probably contact customer service on my future order to inquire about how many yards of vinyl needs to be purchased to have it delivered rolled.

These are GREAT curtains, BUT I didn’t realize any wind makes them slide around the curtain rod, completely to one side. I got these for privacy, so this is a huge problem. Tab top curtains would probably be better.

IF YOU LIKE THE GROMMETS DO WHAT I DID AND PLACE 1 OR 2 LONG ZIP TIES around the curtain rod TO ONE SIDE of the last grommet ON EACH END – leave a long tail on the zip tie – the tail will stop the curtains from sliding around on the curtain rod.

(unless it gets REALLY windy) (you can get zip ties or “cable ties” at any hardware store) I don’t recommend these because I cant imagine anyone who has an outdoor space has NO wind. I haven’t tried tab-top patio curtains but I would imagine that fabric tabs wouldn’t slide around much in the wind, but maybe I’m wrong – who knows.

I would experiment with one tab top panel and see. These curtains wash well, they are very wrinkly at first, but the wrinkles fall out after a while. I’ve had mine almost a year and the grommets have NOT rusted, not even a tiny bit.

I would recommend them if you have zero wind, or if you really like the look of the grommet rings get them and deploy the zip tie trick.

This purchase was made because the green panels I purchased from Hayneedle and hung on my patio for under 6 months faded terribly. Despite the fact that they were and still are advertised for outdoor use and fade resistant.

So I bought the white panels. This is officially my last Hayneedle purchase. But not my last review. Their customer service response was HORRIBLE. The people were nice enough. But they did not stand by the product or provide satisfactory solutions for a purchase of several hundred dollars.

They just go silent.

This is my second set of 6 panels, Natural (not white) which is more like a very pale yellow or dark ivory. These are very well made The first set was up for 2 seasons and still looks great. Washing was simple and the curtains came out of the dryer pretty much wrinkle free.

I bought the second set at the end of this season to “beef up” the look. The end of season price (which is when I bought my first set) is an incredible deal. I highly recommend these outdoor curtains.

Although it has yet to be sewn and used to cover a set of patio chair cushions, it is a great color contrast for the set of dark chocolate brown wicker chairs. My only issue is that the reason they haven’t been sewn is that the contrasting top stitch thread was back ordered, which wasn’t made known to me until the fabric was delivered.

I had to contact the company to find out what happened to the thread.

This fabric is unbelievable. I put it on my barstools. My husband spilled a full glass of wine on one. I used chloride kitchen cleaner with bleach on it. No running. It just disappeared and the fabric looks good as new.

I slipped with black sharpie permanent marker and left a half inch mark on finished upholstery. And you say, “why were you using a marker?” I was making a plastic cover close by and chalk doesn’t work on hard plastic.

I figured on stripping the upholstery off and replacing the panel. Since I didn’t have anything to lose, I used acetone and removed the marker with out it leaving a trace. This stuff is bullet proof.

It cleans up and finishes out with Dawn dish soap. Figure on buying a hot knife though if you want clean edges.

This fabric matches the Sunbrella Davidson Redwood striped fabric very nicely. Thanks for the suggestions that you post with the fabrics. I made a 2-cushion patio chair set for a carpenter who makes the chair.

Fabric is easy to handle, yet tough enough for outdoor life!.

I ordered ten yards (using a 50% coupon) to take overseas and recover my outdoor furniture there. In the unrelenting sun and wicked heat, this fabric has not faded nor worn with daily use. It’s a gorgeous color and I’m buying more for my home in the States too.

I like these curtain panels very much. I hung them on my patio for looks and to help block hot sun and annoying wind. they do both. I did have to put weights in the hem for the wind. It blows very hard here in Washington.

From NC to the French Riviera via a $5. 00 shower pole from Family Dollar. My porch has been transported to a lovely seaside bungalow with planted palms and fruit infused seltzer waters with metal straws so cold you get shivers down your spine.

I was sent an aqua color, not blue as shown in the picture. Very disappointing. They don’t even show the aqua color as an option.

This was my second order of these curtains. The quality and craftsmanship is exceptional. Shipping was right on time and packed professionally.

Now that the seasons have changed, not sure yet how effective but certainly attractive looking. Only problem is how to remove the fold wrinkles. The helper hung them up before I could iron them and the instructions say Do Not Steam.

Maybe time and hanging will smooth them out.

I ordered 12 of these Regency Sand curtains for our deck and below our covered deck for protection from the west hot sun. I love the weight and the grommets make them so easily to install on our outdoor curtain rods, and the stripe looks so classy with our deck rug and deck furniture, a perfect match!!
