20 Best Outdoor Led Light Bulbs (2022 Updated)

I’ve used some Satco CFLs in the past with good results so I wasn’t too worried about trying them again but these really surprised me. I have a dark home theater with black walls and ceiling so finding something to light this room up is a challenge.

I had tried a couple different high power open element CFLs with a reflecting fixture and they spread the light out nice and evenly but not very bright. They also seem to fail pretty quick, probably because these lights are turned on and off several times every day.

Any bulb over 100W equivalent gets pricey so when the LEDs got more reasonably priced I tried some LED floods. Now this focused the light and made it brighter but more dramatic. Since most floods are 40 degree spreads I ended up with hot spots in the room with hard lighting and little lighting in other areas.

After a couple failures on my 2nd set of floods I finally gave these a try. Unbelievable difference, the 1150 lumen rating is modest because these put the 1300 lumen Sylvanias to shame. Also the wider 60 degree spread is great and the light gently tapers off to the sides, eliminating hot spots.

The 3500K color is a very balanced white with only the slightest warmish cast, I’d say maybe even something a bit closer to 4000K, at least compared to my other 3000K bulbs, but not a bluish tint at all.

I generally find most ‘daylight’ bulbs to be annoying. This bulb just nails it in every aspect and the price is great too. I will report back if I have premature failures but until then I’ll just enjoy my room that now seems twice as bright as it’s ever been!.

I had read some people having buzzing issues with the Satco LEDs when used with dimmers. These were no different. When I put them on a non dimming switch they don’t buzz. It turns out you have to use an “electronic low voltage dimmer” to resolve this problem with the Satco bulbs.

Guess what? Those dimmers cost more than double most LED compatible dimmers. Good news? I have tried six different brands/models, and the Satco bulbs and LEDs themselves seem to mimic Halogen bulbs the closest, well except for the spread on the beam, which is far too wide.

The specs I am using are 2700K color temp, 800 lumens+ and 35-60 degree field. These are night and bright, have a great color and dim well, but that damn buzzing is loud enough to hear even when mounted high in a ceiling.

If I owned my home I would invest in better dimmers. Good: mimic halogen appearance and color closely Another bad thing is these bulbs get pretty hot, much hotter than an other LED PAR30 bulbs I tested.

Bad: Buzzing without ELV, beam angle is far too wide, even wider than 60 degrees. Oddly their 40′ model is exactly the same, these are hot compared to other LEDs, but not as hot as halogens. I cannot say much about how long these things last.

I only tested one. It buzzed so it goes back. If you don’t use dimmers these look better than all the GE, Philips and off brand LEDs I have found.

So I redoing my flower bed for fall flowers. An I have always kept lighting in my landscape. Well in the mean time as I finish my flowers I go to place my light back in, when I notice that one of the bulbs was blown.

I had planned on the next day going out an getting a replacement. The next day arrives an I check the mail before heading out. When I noticed I had received this product for a review! Perfect timing an a saved trip for me.

Later on that evening I replaced the broken bulb with the GE 250w led light. I was very pleased with this as I like my lights to eliminate bright at night an light up my walk to the front door. I was so pleased with how well this product did, I went out the next morning to purchase 2 more bulbs.

I can say for the value these are outstanding quality bulbs. Well worth the money spent an pleased with how bright they are. I highly recommend these bulbs to anyone that wants to add better quality bulbs to their landscape or even front porch lighting.

My driveway is a lot brighter using the free GE Nighthawk 250W PAR38 3000 lumens bulb sample to try out. I’m highly satisfied with the warm light output that’s illuminating but not blinding. The bulb weighs 2 lbs.

, conical and can fit in recessed fixtures but I have mine installed in a 2 bulb security light kit shining down at 40 degree angle. The bulb’s durable structure is shock & vibration resistant, free of mercury.

I haven’t used the dimming feature yet because I need the brightest setting for security in my neighborhood. I replaced my older dusk to dawn vapor light and upgraded by installing a new light fixture using GE Nighthawk LED bulb which I think is long lasting, more cost efficient and higher quality.

Only one came in the box I received but intending to buy me a second Nighthawk bulb in near future and will continue using GE Nighthawk floodlight bulbs to give my yard more security and warm exterior nighttime lighting.

I had one of the previous FEIT bulbs that looked exactly like the one on the front package and it was fantastic! This one is more cheaply made. I’ve discover the key to LED spotlights is that the glass on the front be Clear/White.

If it is clear, the LED is emitting the exact colour you want and the bulb is way brighter and more efficient. If it is tinted the colour you want, the LED is white and the colour is filtered through making it way duller.

The Canadian Tire app shows this bulb as NOMA brand but the bulb in the store is actually Globe. Bought a competitors LED par38 from another store for less money and it is significantly better quality, and not thin plastic as the Globe flood is made from.

The narrow construction of the bulb is also too small for the water seal on the base of the lawn spike. Will be getting myself a refund. will not be purchasing NOMA/Globe for floodlights in the future.

Bought 5 of these over time to replace my other grow lights and just over a year two of them have already broken apart. They work well as plant lights but they are not constructed very well. The head of the bulb is fairly heavy and the base that is screwed into the lamp is very weak.

This whole bulb is made of plastic which means that eventually the base weakens and splits apart from the rest of the bulb as shown in the image. Unless you are pointing these lights straight down and not at an angle like I do, then expect them to break (I’m using your typical clip-on flood light with metal shade that can be set to any angle).

I give it 3 stars only because they are good lights for plants so can’t complain about that part but their construction is poor and will be looking for another solution to these bulbs. The base actually breaks off but is still held to the rest of the light by the wires.

So you have to pull the head of to snap the wires so that you can unscrew the broken base that is still screwed into the socket.

Although they classify this as “warm” white, it’s 3000K, which is still on the cool, blueish side. I bought 4 to replace the incandescents in my home theatre. The incandescents give a nice, warm glow.

These give a harsh, blueish, clinical light that ruins the ambience in the room. On top of that, they don’t dim enough – they only go to a certain minimum brightness (which is too bright) and then stay there until they finally turn off.

I have tried other PAR38 LEDs that can dim from full-on to full-off with hundreds of steps in between. These have maybe 10 steps of brightness before they hit their minimum brightness. So, because of the colour of light and dimming performance (or lack thereof), they are completely unsuitable for my use.

Other manufacturers make true 2700K PAR38 LEDs, so I’m going to try them. My search continues.

Ace Product Overview notes this is a 23 watt bulb while the Specs and package photo indicate it is 15. 5 watts. That is a big difference in savings on your energy usage every night! Which power usage figure is the correct one Ace? Time to do a much better job on proofreading and listing these products online here!.

We live in the Pacific Northwest and regular LED lights have had almost constant failures because the little tiny leads are made from iron and they rust. When I found these lights, I figured they would work great because each LED is in a c9 mount and they are individually replaceable.

The color of the bulbs and the LEDs is great and they are quite bright. The energy savings over c9 incandescent bulbs is significant. We also have a large number of bulbs on our house and using incandescent bulbs would require more than one circuit.

With these LED bulbs, we can have all of the lights on a single circuit. The only complaint I have about these bulbs is I think the failure rate is higher than I would have expected. We have about 150 bulbs in our light strings.

Every year, it seems we lose about 10. I have taken the bulbs apart to see how they are manufactured. I think part of the problem is the LEDs are mounted on long leads. When the bulbs get jostled around during installation, the connection to the LED gets broken.

Of course, the advantage is only the one bulb goes out and it is easy to find and replace. All that said, the bulbs have been great and the color is great. I would definitely recommend these over incandescent bulbs.

I bought 3 packs of these several years ago for my outside Christmas tree. I have a yard star that my Dad made over 40 years ago from windmill iron from the windmill on our farm. I used up all the C9 incandescents that I had on the star and bought a 4th pack of these a couple years ago.

I needed one last pack and looked all over to find them so I can finish fitting my star with LEDs as the last of the incandescents fail. My tree lights are still burning after several years with none failing yet! Love these lights.

Very impressed with light these GE Relax LED lights put out. It is exactly what it says on the box, a comfortable and soft light. I honestly can’t believe the difference these lightbulbs have made. I was using another type in my bedroom and changed out to these and the difference is amazing.

First of all they are dimmable and because it is a HD light it is so much softer yet bold at the same time. It made a huge difference in my bedroom lighting and contrast. They are also energy efficient and the estimated cost is.

66 per year. I hope to change out all the lightbulbs in my home to these because it makes a huge difference in the way the room looks. I have always known lighting was important but really didn’t know it would make this bold of a statement.

I really like the shape of this GE LED bulb since it is nice looking. I’m using a bulb in a small lamp on top of my sewing notions chest of drawers. It gives me the perfect amount and great quality of light for me to find what I need without lighting the whole room and disturbing others.

I also use a bulb in a standing light in my family room. This gives the perfect lighting to do my rug hooking while watching TV. It doesn’t interfere with the TV lights but gives a nice, warm glow to the room.

While I find it amazing that these bulbs are stated to last 5 years and up to 13 years, I like them and feel confident that they will last a long time.

These are fine bulbs: lightweight, not easy to break and they emit a very pleasant light. The light quality is not harsh , plus the bulbs themselves do not get hot to the touch. The energy savings compared to incandescent bulbs is substantial.

The only drawback is that the amount of light is quite different — the old incandescent soft white globes had an output of between 625 and 650 lumens each, where these new bulbs have only 500 lumens each.

Since they are on a vanity light strip around a large mirror, the overall effect is okay and the light difference is not too noticeable. I still recommend these highly.

Bought this for outdoor accent lighting at Christmas. The bulbs are very bright and work well outside. Of the 4 bulbs, only 3 of them were working, which was a complete disappointment. Would’ve given this 5 stars if it hadn’t been for the 1 non working bulb.

Great bulb perfect for gaming. I like to use it instead if white light to play xbox because it eliminates Glare on my screen like i get from white light. And its a good night time light to see around in the middle of the night without turning on bright white lights that make u squint until your eyes adjust.

Wonderful ,my neighbors say it looks like a prison yard at night ! That’s what I wanted bright to keep people away and if need be give them a warning shot to get on the ground ! Great for back yard ,vineyards !.

Good move for anyone trying to reduce the electric bill I use two of these to light the outside garage area. The old bulbs use 90 watts each so 180 watts when lit. The new LED bulbs use 13 watts each to make the same amount of light.

When I put screwed them in all they did was flash on and off. I turned the switch off and waited 10 minutes and turned it back on. They continue to flash. Replace with different bulbs and they worked

This LED light is the perfect combination of features as well as ease of use. This PAR38 light is perfect for security lights in or around your home. It can also be used in places (like friends entry or front porch) where you need light when someone is there and need it shut off after the fact.

I installated this light near my friends entry. It really helps when I get in or out of the house at night. It also serves as extra light to see who’s at the door before you open at night. The light is very bright and the sensor’s sensitivity is tuned for being a security light.

It has never failed to detect me in the period I tested the product. It is also fairly responsive. Since the light is switched internally – you do have to keep the light “turned on” at the switch. Either that or hard wire the light (which should be simple to do.

I highly recommend this product and GE as a brand! It should last years to come!.

I recently got this LED+Motion activated white LED light bulb from GE. As it is made for out door use, it was made of high quality material to withstand all the weather changes. I like the fact that it does not need extra wiring to be done for the sensor to work.

It is like a normal light bulb that you can insert in the light socket and done. Thats how easy it is. The sensor on this bulb is picking up motion really well in all angles. Also, I like the fact that it is LED bulb which is saving me some money on my electricity bill every month.

This light is flood light type so, it will be very bright which I really need for my wooded back yard. As these are LED bulbs, One bulb can last for years to come. I do not have any complaints so far, I am loving.

And yes, I already recommended this LED light bulb to my friends, family and colleagues.

Awesome!! Worked perfect. We used them as motion defector lights in outdoor cam lighting in eaves above front door. The lights were 12’ above the landing. Worked perfect!

We purchased three LED bulbs at the same time all to replace the currently in use Par 16 (50 & 60 watt quartz halogen) bulbs. The kelvin range was from 2400 to 2700, both narrow and wide spots and floods.

None of the three bulbs met our needs for color rendition. On full ‘brightness’ the bulbs are acceptable. However, when dimmed to 50% and 25%, the light becomes gray and unpleasant. A kind of ‘cadaverous’ appearance.

We will use these bulbs outdoors, and keep using quartz halogen as they are warm and can be dimmed to as low as 10% (about 12-15 watts current consumed) and maintain a warm light.

Bought these to replace halogen spots in a home office environment. Tried others from home centers, but the light was either too diffused, too muddy or flickery in mid-range dimming. These have so far avoided all the above problems.

My one reservation is that I bought these TCP bulbs for another application about a year ago and within a couple of months they started failing (flickering from half-to-full brightness, some failing altogether.

) And on a switch, not a dimmer. But these bulbs provide excellent light – the closest to halogen – and a very good, narrow beam. And they have he smoothest response I’ve seen to new-generation dimmers (Lutron in this case).

Purchased Jan 2019 to replace 60w incandescent PARs. Color is close to tungsten, may be a bit greenish. Wish the CRI was higher. Low heat, so hopefully that will lead to longevity that some earlier PAR LEDs lacked.

Cost per unit still 3 or 4x equivalent tungsten. Will update the ‘value’ and ‘effectiveness’ rating if these bulbs last until 2022.

I am going to start off saying I love these light bulbs. I installed them in my bedroom lamp. I must say that the soft amber color it gives out is just beautiful. It provides a relaxing warm ambiance.

The wattage is 60 and it is perfect for what I use them for. The lamp is on for more than 4 hours a night every night. The light bulb is dimmable but the lamp I have does not have that feature. I have not experienced any flickering or outage.

They are low energy which is a great benefit. I will definitely be purchasing in the future and recommending to my family and friends.

Last year we replaced the 21 overhead PAR 30 75 watt halogen can floods in the Kitchen. Now, we will replace the four similar lights in the front hall and the six in the living room and four more downstairs in the TV room.

Now we’re 100% LED in all indoor and outdoor fixtures including table and floor lamps. Huge reduction in electricity and perfect 3000K light. (2700 is too orange).

Both Opticore ceramic look bulbs and Opticore transparent twinkle lights looks great together. The brightness and intensity on both styles pair up with all the colors all even as no particular color is overpowering like some other led bulbs, Ive found that in others, the blues and greens seemed brighter while the yellows were weak, not so with Opticore.

I compared side by side with my vintage incandescent bulbs and found that Opticore lights were just a touch brighter, the ceramic look bulbs are very convincing in their vintage look, these leds do not have that annoying flicker thats so common with led bulbs in general, mixed in with vintage incandescent bulbs, the only real thing that gives Opticore lights away is that theres no chips in the paint, they look like a brand new set of vintage.

Opticore bulbs are money well spent. My old habit of carefully handling goes with the old glass bulbs, these are very durable and doesnt harm them to bump into each other or on the ground while hanging the light strings.

Buy with confidence.

I have been looking for a C7 LED bulb to replace my incandescent ceramic bulbs. I found them! I really liked the look of the old ceramic incandescent bulbs. The colors were bright and nostalgic. However, they consumed a lot of electricity and got very hot to the touch.

These LED replacement bulbs use much less electricity and stay cool to the touch, plus they are less fragile. Best of all, the color and brightness are almost exactly what the incandescent version produced.

Actually, the green and blue LED bulbs are brighter than their incandescent version, which is good because the incandescent green and blue bulbs were not nearly as bright as the red, orange and white incandescent lamps.

That’s not the case with these LED bulbs, all colors are bright. So glad I found these.

These bulbs are amazing! My order was for 100 Orange bulbs. No out of box failures. They are intensely orange. The color is spot on to the original glass C9’s. Made out of thick plastic and appear unbreakable.

These are not the junk bulbs that come with big box store C9 string sets. I’ve been waiting for a good LED C9/C5 replacement for years. these Orange ones are for my sidewalk during Halloween. I’ll be ordering the whole range of colors for xmas and am hoping the other colors are as vivid.

I have not tested the dimming functionality yet.

bulb quality okay. light output okay. priced too high vs lowes. unique bulb for display cabinet.

Although they are suppose to dim, on lower power settings they pulse/flash/blink which is very annoying. At lowest and highest power settings they are consistent, it is the middle power settings that cause the problem.

I give it a single star because the package said R14 and in the catalogue it calls it an R-16 . However, it didn’t work had to take it back. Wrong packaging information.

This is an amazing bulb to say the least. Did not expect the brightness. It is a soft white that has a bright and blinding light. it is as described as: 1) This High Power PAR20 LED, offers a market leading 470lm output and is perfect for areas where a brighter light is needed.

You ask Why Buy yourself a LED Bulb here are several reasons to consider: 1) LEDs have great advantage of thermal resistance, larger cooling area, better lighting effect and high light efficacy. 2) High CRI (Color Rendering Index) means that the LED is emitting more of the color spectrum than typical LEDs do, Your typical bright-blue tint LED drops red, orange and aqua wavelengths, but modern high CRI emitters do a better job of outputting the entire spectrum.

3) Proprietary Optics Lens enabling glare-free uniform lighting for all working environments.

Bought a couple to replace 20 watt halogens, which are hot and relatively short-lived. The bulbs are guaranteed three years, and not 10 as pictured on the package, but who ever returns light bulbs anyway.

Here is the thing. The bulbs flickered a bit when installed, and I immediately wondered about power supply. The halogen fixtures had a 12 volt AC supply. After much research, and unable to find a replacement, I tried a 12 volt DC power adapter I had.

At 1000 mA it was sufficient for two 4 watt bulbs. That works just fine. but required wiring in the replacement. The bulbs are marked as 12 volt AC, but that is not the case. DC works. Flickering solved, and bulb has a broader and brighter light than the old halogens.

Recommended.

Item was difficult to find. Works as advertised. This product makes much less heat than a halogen equivalent. Longevity remains to be seen.

I was looking for a 10 watt (old type) but learned that this 25 4W LED is the same thing and actually worked better to make an old fibre optic Christmas decoration work again.
