20 Best Outdoor Lights For Patio (2022 Updated)

I ordered the longer string after having seen the distance between the bulbs. This way, I could go the length I needed, and then come back with a string of bulbs in between, which is the way they should have been made anyways.

Each string should have double the amount of bulbs that it currently has. This would give brighter light. They are definitely not as bright as clear bulbs, but having them doubled up, they are just enough at full bright setting.

The scenes are pretty cool, but go move fast from color to color, I wish the application could be updated to control the speed of each scene independently. Being able to setup times to turn them on/off is good, however, there is no way to select the scene you want when they come on, they will come on with whatever was last set.

VERY annoying, and makes it somewhat useless, unless you always use the same scene. This should definitely be fixed also. The plug not being weather proof is annoying, luckily mine is for a covered patio, so it is easy enough to deal with, but why make the everything but the plug water proof? Doesn’t make a lot of sense.

The music setting doesn’t work well, you can’t setup you phone for the lights to go to the music, and have the music play on the phone, since it uses the mic on the phone, very few lights light up. If you speak near the phone you see a lot more lights start to light up, and this is while the music is playing.

If you have an external speaker, it works better, but really, these lights just can’t do the job, so if you want it for that feature, look else where. For the price, not sure it is really worth it, will probably send back.

I’m looking for something that will light up the patio, and to have to double up string of lights to get the brightness, just don’t think it is worth the price when there are less expensive products that have more lights per foot.

My neighbor bought and installed some patio string lights and I was inspired to light up my patio as well. I didn’t want to “bite” their style so I decided to get color changing lights as the rest of my apartment is comprised of color changing LEDs, star laser projectors, and black lights.

(I need to entertain myself!) I have the Govee LED dreamlight strip in my house, nicknamed the portal as its arches over my bar, so I already have the Govee Home phone app installed and I’ve enjoyed all the modes as well as the DIY mode.

These patio lights work almost exactly the same way and the modes are awesome. The illumination mode, which is the most utilitarian mode, is great for a small patio mounted at about 10ft high and lights up the area enough for me to do my laundry and for when I need to tend to the smoker/grill.

The color temperature is a little warmer than I would like but its not as bad as my original patio light I had which was borderline yellow. The color modes which are stunning aren’t as bright but work well as mood lighting for my patio hookah sessions or when I want flex on my neighbors and friends.

I didn’t purchase the set that comes with the remote so I won’t speak on that but I haven’t had any issues with the Bluetooth app on my phone. It recently rained at my place and the lights are indeed water proof but like other reviews have stated that the “brain” of the lights is not water proof so I’ve kept the controller and power plug out of the way of the rain and I haven’t had any issues.

My patio is about 9′ x 11′ and I mounted the lights in 3 rows of 5 lights which look great. If you have a similar size patio or close to and like the idea of having colored lights, I would definitely recommend these lights.

I love that you can change the light colors to exactly what you want. One string of lights can work for all holidays. These lights are a little less bright than other string lights. The bulbs are large compared to other string lights.

They are a little smaller than a normal light bulb. The bulbs are plastic and the string itself doesn’t feel that sturdy. I put my string up on my balcony railing and when the lights hit against the wrought iron railing, it creates a noise that I didn’t like.

I ended up giving these to my mom and she enjoys them. The sound they make doesn’t annoy her like it did me. I own several Govee products, all of which I liked at first, but then they started having issues.

After a firmware update, my LED strip lights can no longer be turned off via the app. I have to unplug them. One of my two Govee Glide units makes a high pitched noise when it’s plugged in, so I have to unplug it when not in use.

I’m concerned about the quality control with Govee after these two issues. So far, these string lights are holding up, but I wonder how long they will last. Govee charges a premium compared to similar products, which I’m happy to pay for higher quality, but after 2 of my things started having issues, I am questioning whether the premium price is worth it.

I am so impressed with these lights! They are beautiful. I can use year round and so they will stay on my deck. There is a loop to hang the lights. The colors I am using for summer are vivid and beautiful.

The lights also look good when not on. There is a remote that comes with the lights that gives you several options. I plugged these lights into an outdoor smart plug so that they can be turned on and off from any location.

So pleased I came across these lights.

These lights are so beautiful, I love all of the color options and the glow they give. They are heavy duty and very well made which makes them great outdoor lights. Living in Maine, we have not put them out yet, but as the warm weather comes we will be putting these on our back deck.

In the meantime, my daughter has them strung around her bedroom (she loves them so much we may have to leave them and get another set for outside!) The lights are unique from all of the other lights we’ve owned.

A lot of products throw around the terms “pro” and “commercial grade”, but these LED lights really seem built to last. Right out of the box, you can feel their weight, all covered by a rubberized surface that will withstand the elements.

The packaging is no fuss – a 48-foot strand coil, a box of 15 individually-wrapped and -boxed LED bulbs, and a simple instruction sheet. To be honest, they are pretty much plug in and go, but there are some things worth considering: 1) The strand is 48-feet long with 15 lights.

This means there is a 3-foot spacing between each bulb, as well as 3 feet at the start and end of the strand. It’s worthwhile considering, since if you connect multiple strands (which you can do since the end has a female receptacle), you will have a 6-foot gap.

If you’re a detail-oriented planner, you’d want to take that into consideration. 2) The strand has a 2-prong plug (i. e. , no ground wire). This means that it is adaptable to most extension cords, but you will want to take into account other items you may want to connect, like dimmers and remotes.

3) The LEDs are made of “durable glass”, and I’d believe it. The glass even feels a bit soft to withstand bumps and knocks, but is crystal clear. Since these are vintage-style LEDs, the yellow LED “filaments” are quite visible during the daytime, but still look attractive.

4) It is recommended that the strand be hung by 16-gauge wire or cable, or mounted with hooks. Given the weight, don’t skimp on cheap mounting options, as you will want to do this the right way. I mounted the cord above my pergola with wrap-around cable clips and stainless screws (really taking the time to protect the cord), allowing the bulbs to hang between the slats.

5) Most importantly, it should be noted that these lights are very bright. Mind you, as I just mentioned, I mounted mine on a pergola, which picks up the lighting much more than, say, an open-air application.

However, as standard, they cast a lot of light. Since they are dimmable, I highly recommend an outdoor dimmer. I purchased a SUNYE Max Power 200W Waterproof Outdoor String Lights Wireless Remote Control, 150Feet Range, Memory, Stepless Dimming, IP68 WATERPROOF.

UL 3 Pin Plug Remote Control Dimmer (ONLY FOR LED DIMMABLE BULB) outdoor dimmer, and that was the best decision. I’ve included two photos at the maximum (100%) and minimum (<25%) settings. The minimum setting is what I use nearly all the time as it's a nice glow (but still bright).

If I have dinner parties, I use brighter settings, but even 50% is far too bright for most applications. Without a dimmer, I don’t know if I could use these lights.

These lights are bright, beautiful, and great quality. I bought a ton of them to replace all the lights in my 9-foot pre-lit garlands. (The garlands were from Amazon and most of the lights failed within one season.

) The length of these strings was a perfect fit for my garlands. One other thing that’s nice about these light strings is that they are well packaged and clean — unlike many of the low quality lights you find everywhere else which leave your hands all dirty with some kind of strange mystery residue.

Color and quality were just what would be expected for commercial grade. Exactly what I needed. I also ordered Red and White LED rope light spools and cut to fit my needs, also fantastic! Changed out string lights for the season to Red and Pure White.

The plastic ‘red’ bulbs were out of stock, that’s what i got for last minute decision-making, ordered glass instead. Everything was great, and shipping was impressive considering it was November. Nice job folks!.

We replaced 800 incandescent Christmas tree lights. Even with the warm white LED’s, 700 LED’s were way to much light. We removed all 700 LED’s and then restrung using just 5 strings, 350 LED’s. That worked out, and the tree looks great.

No more constant replacing the incandescents. Noveltyligths was the only source we found that could provide 6″ spacing, long stings and warm white LED’s. And IN STOCK Thank you.

I love these! This is my first rechargeable outdoor string light! Who knew that was a thing! They pair so perfectly on my camper awning! Long enough to go all the way across and if need be I can even charge my phone! These are a frosted light so it gives subtle not blinding light in the darkness its just enough to light up our entire camper area and part of the yard.

So cute! I want to put these everywhere. The rechargeable part works so perfectly its nice not having to constantly be buying batteries.

I am so extremely happy I found these lanterns. I just had my electrician put them up at the front door and back patio. The simple design and detail will be very compatible with the door which goes on mid January.

Working on an old valve radio this flux is excellent, it was recommended by Mr Carlson from Mr Carlsons Lab and I can see why he uses it.

Bought these for our garage several years ago and just bought some to go outside of our sliding glass bedroom door.

This light was nice for the 2 years I got out of it. I have this light mounted up at the peak under an eave on my garage. It always turned on and off like normal. It was somewhat protected from the elements.

No rust issues at all with it. I will buy another one because I bought two other led lights from this Danbury style. These are not dusk to dawn lights. They are the traditional on off switch style. They are still working good.

LED lighting is great it is just too bad there are inconsistences industry wide on all of these products. I have accepted the fact that some will fail prematurely and I will have to spend more money on a replacement.

Just the right amount of light! The spacing when combined with the lumens produces a perfect light that is not overbearing. A big bonus for us. the plug and play mini solar w/ internal battery. This standard two prong (IP44) plug and play solar feature allows the string lights to be used with an alternate standard house plug (making certain the specs/voltage are compatible, ours came with fairy lights).

and similarly the mini solar setup can be used with other products (again making certain the specs/voltage are compatible). Just an overall great product! So nice to have a lighted outdoor area without an electrical bill and one where the lights turn on and off without my thinking.

Also provides decent and attractive lighting for dark areas where night time security may be an issue.

This is a great product. I’ve tried similar things straight off of amazon that are half the price, but about 10% as good as these. SO sturdy. Like all Brightech products, this came with beautiful bulbs.

If you’re a noob at string lights like I was, if your project is long-term or semi-permanent DEFINITELY get a string light hanging kit rom amazon. But for a temporary one-night setting, you may be able to improvise with the surrounding environs to make something neat for a night (though not very stable).

DEFINITELY hang the light strand before screwing in the bulbs. Common knowledge for people who have ever worked with these things, but I remember it being new to me several XMases ago and some random comment on some old thread of xmas lights has saved me hours of work and broken bulbs since.

My only critique is that Brightech should put giant stickers on this product saying “GET A STRING LIGHT HANGING KIT!” and “DON’T PLUG IN THE BULBS UNTIL YOU’RE DONE!” I also got a string light dimming kit off of Amazon.

I strongly recommend this, as even though brightech’s AWESOME bulbs are only 2 watts (the lowest I’ve seen available for this size), when there’s 15 of them (or 30 in my case, or more in yours), they’re still VERY bright.

My last piece of advice is this: I was worried about only 15 bulbs and 48 feet. “There’s no way that could be enough lights!” I was stupid and wrong. It’s a very good amount of light. The perfect spacing between bulbs or else they’d look like Christmas lights.

This is a good product. Buy it if you want 50 feet of string lights that will need to be outdoors all the time. VERY sturdy.

I bought these less than a year ago, within six months more than half of the bulbs burned out. I use them nightly to take the dogs out back, but they only get a few minutes of nightly use. The bulbs shouldn’t burn out that quickly.

Also, the brass cylinders aren’t attached to the strands so they fall off as you’re trying to replace the bulbs making this a real pain. Additionally, the brass cylinders are already showing lots of rust spots.

For the $140 the two strands cost these should last a lot longer than they do.

I’ve been experimenting with a lot of solar lights over the last couple of years. The battery on this light string worked well compared to similar products around $10-15 range. The plastic teardrops diffuse the light nicely and are very pretty.

The RGB ones are a bit Christmasy, but I would order the white ones again. After about 6 months outside, through much sun and rain, half of the string came off, but the rest still keeps working! It’s hard to fault the item for falling apart since it could have been wildlife or weather in this case.

First, I love that these are solar, which is preferable to trying to figure out “how in the world am I going to get power to my lights!” They are quality made, just big enough and so very colorful with lots of modes.

I placed the solar panels on flat surfaces, which works great. The next best part – if you don’t turn them off, they’ll just resume when it gets dark.

I bought these lights last summer for $9 each. They are a little higher priced now but still a good deal. After a year of regular plug in lights, I had to through them all away due to bulbs burnt out or other wiring issues.

I have had these longer and they never fail unless it’s a cloudy/rainy day, naturally. I bought two sets and wrapped my deck rail with them. SOOOO PRETTY! They give extra life to any outdoor patio/garden.

I love them!!!!! Going to order more for our summer graduation party in June now that I know they last more than one season.

Came quickly, and packed well. Free shipping. We haven’t put them up yet, but will be putting them up along the ceiling/dividing beam between our under-roof portion of our screen-enclosed lanai and the large screen-enclosed, screen-roofed area of our lanai.

I’ve been wanting g these for a while, but everywhere I looked. they either had too little-sized bulbs, or too-few bulbs, or they were overpriced. Finally found these and was surprised they weren’t sold out! I read customer reviews.

These lights are great looking and no issues stringing 3 or 4 sets together. We used them as our ‘warm white’ christmas lights one year. The only problem i have had is that the bulbs are glass, we broke a few taking them down and the glass slivers are very hard to find since the bulb is so thin walled (like most light bulbs).

Turns out I didnt find one sliver and my son had a splinter he couldnt get out for weeks. Finally went to the local nurse and they took it out for him. One of the slivers i missed when cleaning up. Obviously not HF’s fault, but just a warning in case you break any.

My solution was to buy a bunch of the same size bulbs that are plastic online and they work great. I am guessing the ‘new’ sets that are LED from HF may be plastic instead of glass, but check them out.

Lightbulbs not energy efficent LED as expected. If using in an environment where it may take minor impacts these glass bulbs will break. Also not verry bright. so calculate a box or two of better bulbs when buying this.

Quality of grommets are 50/50 and the size on some are warped and the socket could fall out if not careful so be ready with a little glue if you have one that does fall out. Cable gets hot when used with included bulbs but not with lower wattage LED ones i replaced it with.

Cable diamater might be too small for recommended load so keep an eye on them.

This string of lights is really nice! We were searching for some patio lights to run around the perimeter of our metal patio canopy. We did not want the heavy commercial type, they are too bulky and heavy for our need.

We wanted white to match our patio cover. We found this product at Yard Envy and bought them. They installed easily. Even though the weather was cool, the cord stays limp enough to pull tight (nice and straight) between our fasteners.

They installed nice and neat! The warm white LED is nice and cozy with enough light to see, but not too bright. Very happy with the product!.

Wire sockets were a tad flimsy. I found that I had to be careful not to strip the plastic. Everything else was great. All bulbs worked the minute I plugged them in!

Just hung the lights around our deck yesterday. We love them! So colorful, bright and festive. Good quality lights. I’ve purchased many Christmas and novelty lights from Christmas Lights Etc. Never disappointed.

This summer we installed a new patio, fire pit, and gazebo but it was very dark in the backyard. We stumbled onto these lights and they are the perfect addition. There are so many light combinations that you can choose from their app.

We thought we would have to change them out for Christmas lights, and other holidays but its just built in and already programed. We even had the opportunity to contact service over an “issue” that ended up being a misunderstanding on my part.

Service was so understanding and fantastic about resolving it by educating me on the product. The only part that isnt waterproof seems to be the wifi/controller but it easily detaches so that you can put it in your home during in climate weather.

But it does keep the settings after being disconnected, so its not really an issue. I’m very happy with my purchase.

This was a great buy. Before I purchased these lights, I bought them from another vendor which was way over priced. I realized that I didn’t have enough lights as I wanted so I started shopping around for the same product for a cheaper price.

I found these lights and it was such a better deal that I ended up buy 2 sets. I love that these are solar powered and I don’t have to plug it in. The bulbs are shatter proof made of a thick plastic.

I bought these to replace some “Christmas lights” that weren’t designed for long-term outdoor use. The difference is evident when you open the box. These lights are clearly built to last. The solar/battery unit comes with a variety of mounting options.

I attached it directly to a fence post, but the ground spike and clip options would be helpful in other settings. I installed three sets a few days ago. Even on an overcast day, they came on reliably at dark–including the set that gets some shade in the afternoon.

I bought a 7. 5′ patio umbrella for my small enclosed deck. It was the only size that would fit without looking ridiculous and getting in the way. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one that size with the solar lights built into it.

Then I found these lights. Even though my umbrella only had six ribs, it was no problem. I just doubled up on two of them. Also, the strings were a little too long for each rib, so I just wrapped the beginning or each string around twice to make up for it.

Also, my umbrella parts were plastic, so I couldn’t screw the solar panel holder directly into the top as instructed. To get around this, I simply drilled a small pilot hole in the plastic top of my umbrella, attached the base of the solar panel holder into the top with the enclosed screw, and attached the panel to the top.

Perfect! The lights give off a nice soft glow with the perfect ambient lighting. Stay lit a long time too! Great purchase and great price!.

I did order two and only one worked, but these things happen from time to time. The one that does work was designed pretty well and they look great. They go on pretty easily depending on the type of cap you have on the top of the umbrella.

I did have to tap the top of my umbrella cap so I could screw the solar attachment in, but I could have accomplished that with a simple adapter or even drilling a hole and some hot glue to be honest.

It would have worked just fine. I would recommend picking up a bag of small black zipties about 4 inches long so you can make sure that the clips wont budge. I love that it has a replaceable rechargeable battery.

A lot of these types of units, when the battery gives out on the solar unit you are usually out of luck and have to throw the thing out.

Add some light and ambiance to your patio or deck. It really added some usable light to my patio table and creates a cool nighttime ambiance. Installation is straight forward. The clips fit the umbrella legs perfectly.

The fact I don’t need to replace batteries makes it eco friendly and low maintanence. Only issue is that the threaded solar panel mounting bracket did not fit my umbrella correctly. I was able however to get it to work with a little handy power drill work.

Other than that, I would have given it five stars.

I found paper lantern store after googling incandescent patio lights. I loved how they were obviously very carefully packaged ( separate from the bulbs) and sent. They are lovely, and extra bulbs gives us confidence that we will not be searching stores for just the right one in a few months.

We LOVE them. In a world of poor service and cutting corners all the time, it is very refreshing to deal with a company who does not seem to cut corners. Thanks.

The item arrived packed so carefully and beautifully – kudos to the store. The string lights do look pretty good; my only tiny dissatisfaction is that the shatterproof bulbs have a plastic look to them and scratches are visible.

But maybe that’s the cost of having durable bulbs. I attached two paper lanterns to the string lights and it’s very lovely. Overall, I’m happy!.

I bought a white string bulb light and it was great but it wasn’t long enough for what I needed. I went back to buy another white string bulb light of a different length but the spacing between the bulbs was not the same.

The first one was like a bulb a foot. The second was a bulb, maybe, every two feet. I didn’t know there was a difference and I would have liked if there was a notification or something to tell me the items were different.

Got these for my wedding. The quality feels good on all sides. The actual plugs fit tightly together, they have fuses in each strip, and the actual cord is nice and heavy-duty. Important to note, the bulbs that come included are very warm, bordering on being light orange.

Thats perfect for my purposes, but if youre hoping for a colder, more sterile white then you’d want to use different bulbs.

Great lights, only call out is the bulbs have to be tightened a lot more than you’d expect for them to actually work. I bought two sets and thoughts they couldn’t possibly be both DOA out of the box.

Plugged the lights in then tightened a bulb more than I expected and it finally came on.
