I love this fryer! The reason why I bought it was so I can do all my frying outside without the smell and mess in the kitchen. The 2. 5 gallon bayou is just the right size for the me and my wife. Heats up very fast but you have to stay on top of the temperature gauge and play around with the gas flow control to keep the heat from climbing.

My only draw back is the temp gauge is off by 15-20 degrees so I have been using my temp pen thermometer which is very accurate.

2. 5 gallon oil capacity. Less oil needed to change. Heats quickly and retains heat when adding food. All stainless and the welds are quite good. Assembles in about 40 minutes. Sturdy hinges and handles.

Excellent stand/stanchions. Two heavy duty valves. One is a brass ball valve for containment drain. The other a steel needle valve for gas adjustment. Fryer is a real ebay bargain.

So far so good. Assembled relatively easy, although the cheap wrench provided in the packaging was useless. Instructions were hidden between the basket and cook pan, but it was easy to look at the various parts and figure out the process.

First attempt with this cooker was boiled shrimp and lobster tails. Quick and easy. Let’s hope cooking oil and fish turn out the same.

Having a fish fry with friends is so fun and easy with this. We’ve used it multiple times and each time a new guest has purchased one for themselves after leaving.

I set this item up in thirty minutes by myself. Fairly easy to assembly had issues getting it started but once we did, it was a breeze to use. It’s quick and easy to use the only drawback with this model is there isn’t a lid.

So bugs quickly ended up in there but after we finished using it. I would recomment one with a lid or some sort of cover for storage.

I purchased the fryer to do a fish fry for 35 people. I was not disappointed. The first time we tried it we overloaded it. Once we figured that out, we fried smaller amounts at a time. Recovery time was nil.

The grease stayed plenty hot and ready for the next batch. After frying 20 pounds, the last piece looked as beautiful as the first. Uniformly golden and there was not dotted with burnt specks of coating.

I cleaned it up the next day by tying a piece of paint strainer netting folded into several layers around the drain hose. The grease cam out nicely filtered and looked as good as new, and the breading that had steeled in the bottom was not burnt.

Regarding quality, the stainless steel is pretty thin, and I’m hopeful that it won’t develop leaks at the welds over time. I’m the type that appreciates heavier construction and will pay extra to avoid the frustration of failures from cheaply built products.

I can’t look at this fryer and confidently say that my kids and grandkids will use it for many years to come, But, I can say that this thing works GREAT, and for the price I paid, I have no complaints and I’m eager to use it again!.

Great fryer! Cooked on it at a friends house and knew I had to have one. So much easier than traditional way of cooking with simple pot and burner. Ease to keep oil in fryer and cover up with elements outside.

If you enjoy cooking and have cookouts, parties this is the way to go. Would like to see Bayou Classic make a cover that incorporates the whole fryer and not just the top. I did purchase the cart for ease of moving around my patio.

Great deep fryer. Grease heats up fairly quick. We use it on camping trips due to its compact size. Used it for a fish fry for 10-15 people. We have the 9 gallon version but it takes a while to get grease up to temp, and for a small cookout and it’s a lot of grease to deal with if you want to be mobile.

I bought this mainly because it was a $100. 00 cheaper than the R & V sold @ Buck-ee’s, but I told the guy when I was ordering/buying it that I really wanted it to fry Turkeys in it. HE didn’t say a thing.

On the box & in the Owners Manual, BIG BOLD PRINT, DO NOT USE TO FRY TURKEYS!! So I have the thing fully assembled, the box it came in is trashed, but I can’t use it for what I wanted it for. So UI saved a $100.

This is our second one of these fryers. Not because the first one isn’t good, but because we get so much use out of it at our school’s concessions stands that we needed a second one to keep up with the demand.

Great outdoor fryer. Like any other you add to much cold at once temp drop. Need to find a better gas regulator so we can set temp to 350 ect. Besides managing the temp it fry’s fabulously.

This is the best piece of outdoor cooking equipment I have ever purchased!!! This thing is a rock solid piece of equipment! Cooking 40 wings at a time there is no problem keeping temperature (unlike my old turkey cooker I used to use)! I also purchased the stand and I could not be happier.

When I cook whole turkeys in the turkey basket they come out perfect! Not to mention Tater tots and fries and my favorite of all catfish! Plus this thing is tough, last night a bear thought that peanut oil is pretty and tasty flipped the fryer over and devoured all the used oil.

However happy to report the fryer was totally unharmed. My hats off to R&V Works. GREAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT !!!!!.

I don’t know if I received a lemon, the quality assurance person was sick the day they built it, or if the quality has gone way down compared to the other reviews. The welding reminds me of something I would see in high school.

It has splatter all over it and some welds that should obviously have been ground and weren’t. Combine that with the scratches and spots that have no paint and my excitement at my new purchase became fleeting.

I’m not used to purchasing a new product and have it need paint right out of the box. The shipping box didn’t show any damage but the bottoms plates were severely bent. I sandwiched the steal plates between wood boards and used clamps get them closer to straight but they spring back some.

I wonder if this was used and returned and then shipped to me. The paint in the burn chamber is flaking off. I would expect the heat to do that when it is used not out of the box. Despite all these things I setup the cajun fryer.

The assembly instructions were easy to understand and assembly didn’t take very long. Attaching the shelf I noticed that the diamond plate is very crooked but at this point I’m not expecting much. It used to be when something was American Made you got quality.

Apparently that is not the case here. The next day I washed out the inside with mild soapy water and noticed that despite the drain valve being closed it was leaking. Upon closer inspection I found that it was leaking around the threads and not through the valve so I grabbed some high temperature thread tape and a wrench and unscrewed the valve.

To my surprise I found that the threads were stripped and that their was some welding splatter in the threads. So now I have an unusable Cajun Fryer. I need to contact customer service about returning it.

For this kind of quality I could have ordered the Chinese made one for cheaper. Very disappointed.

I debated between the 4 gallon and the 6 gallon fryer. I bought the 6 gallon because it seemed like I could fry more things including a turkey. I also liked the idea of larger fry baskets that come with the 6 gallon.

HOWEVER, I didn’t think about checking to see how easily the fry baskets would fit into the dishwasher. The larger baskets barely fit diagonally in the top rack and I have to wash 1 at a time. Also, to use the 6 gallon fryer you have to heat 6 gallons of oil, store 6 gallons of oil (takes more than 1 5 gallon storage bucket) and buy 6 gallons of oil.

This has led me to rarely use the fryer — I highly recommend the 4 gallon unit. My fryer does everything great, but really is too bid for an average home owner use.

I really dont have any negatives, its an awesome fryer and its fast. There are a few tricks to make it work at its best. Dont fill the oil to the top of the pan. Recommend about 11/2 inches from the top.

You still have plenty of oil for fryin. We use peanut oil. Get the wind skirt for it. It works without one but the heat seems to be more contained and keeps the oil at a constant temperature. They should include the skirt with the fryin saucer and dont extend the legs if you use the skirt.

It fits perfectly when you fold out legs, sits close to the ground so wind cant blow through it. Get one you wont regret it. We luv ours.

This thing is awesome! Oil from fish drain right back into kettle to continue to use! Also!!! Fish stay warm on cooling saucer! Best investment ever! No more stinky house! Great year round!! Very portable!!.

Have used the fryer several times with good results. Oil heats quickly and fish stay hot on sloped surface. I find I use less oil and clean up is easy if you are careful. The only downside is that the fryer is large and takes up space when not in use.

This product is made of thin tin material. Both basket will not fit on rim at the same time when you are draining the food. I pictured it to be taller than it is. Not very satisfied. Would not but another one of this kind.

I bought this product for a family fish Fry…it worked perfectly…I 100% recommended that you buy one…shout out to L&M for delivering all the way to Chicago and within a week😁

The frame is poorly constructed. Sits way to low. Frame will sway if you are not careful. Not a good ideal when cooking with oil. The burner does the job ok. The rest did what was intended. The price range is to high for this product.

Price should be more in the 30 to 40 range.

If you’re wanting to fry a turkey or even other items, this is a nice product for that. I will say you should know what you’re doing to avoid any fires or accident. It’s very important to read the instructions, frying is dangerous.

Please make sure you know what you ir doing prior to use. This item is easy to use and also includes everything was you need. I’d recommend using this outside in case of any fires. We found it easy to use and remove the turkey from.

Overall we great but I wouldn’t use this with no experience.

This is just what I needed and wanted! I have been looking for a propane turkey fryer for a while and since I am not in the market for a new stove at the moment, this was perfect. Point being, you can’t or should not pressure can/ water bath can on a flat top stove.

So I am killing two birds with one stone with this fryer. I get to have Thanksgiving turkey my favorite way, fried, and I can go outside and can things. This came with everything for a great price. Other kits I looked at either had just the burner or just the pot.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son. He really liked it but has not had a chance to actually use it yet. We like that it can be used as both a turkey fryer and a fish fryer, as he is also an avid fisherman.

I loved the fact that it was delivered to my front door less than two days after ordering.

This turkey fryer worked really well and the burner gets the liquid up to temperature very quickly! I cannot wait to try out the steamer baskets and other features. My only issue with it was that the rubber handles on the large pot cracked during the first use.

I returned this after setting it up following all instructions exactly , twice. The venture tube is very poorly made and produced a low, yellow flame – not blue like it should be. This was done with a newly filled tank.

Cabelas honoured my return no problem and I bought the Pro 30 Camp chef instead which works flawlessly , has great heat output, and is very well made. Set up time was 3 minutes ; King Kooker took 30 minutes just to bolt it all together to find out it didn’t work well.

Spend the extra money and get the Camp Chef , which has a variet of available parts and accessories. you won’t be sorry !.

It arrived with the weld holding the cooking element broken. So we returned it and ordered a different model. It arrived with the same weld being broken. I would not recommend anything from this manufacturer.

I have had this for two Thanksgiving’s now, so about a year or more. I was using it this Thanksgiving and the pot blew a hole at the bottom causing all the oil in the pot to leak out (I was watching the temperature a little under 350 when this happened as I put the turkey in the pot).

The stand and the other items seem to be of good quality which is why I gave it two stars. But the 30 qt pot seems to be a cheap aluminum which dents easily. The only thing that I can think of what happened is it got too hot at the bottom and got warped causing the hole at the bottom.

The temperature at the time of the incident was a little under 350. I have fried my own turkey now for almost 10 years (Always a big hit with people that haven’t had it before) the last fryer kit I have had lasted 9 years until I let a friend borrow it and he left it outside in the snow and ruined it completely, which is why I bought this one.

Advice** watch the 30 qt pot after your first use make sure there are no dents at the bottom or around the pot. The lid that came with it was really dented and by the top handle seemed to be a little warped.

By the way the first use of this fryer I had no issues.

Bought this item 3wks ago in preparation for Thanksgiving. Have used it 2 times so far. Build quality is good. I read some comments about concerns with the 5lb regulator but it works fine. Blue flame and plenty of power.

I wrapped the threads with teflon tape before I screwed the hose into the burner. I live at 1300 feet elevation and cooked at 45 degrees, and this weekend at 21 degrees. I live in the northeast where we seem to be real proud of our cold.

No issues at all. Everything works as expected and I’m ready for the main event. It does take a little getting used to if you’ve never deep fried before. I found cooking at 300-325 and adding 1 minute per pound the birds come out perfect.

Pot cleaned up fine, no black soot on the bottom as some others have experiences, no issues with anything.

After doing quite a bit of web surfing for a turkey fryer/seafood boiler I came across the Backyard Pro Stainless set. To be honest I thought the price was too good to be true and was hesitant to purchase.

I rolled the dice and came out on top. Base is made from reasonably thick steel sheet metal. Thicker than I expected. I weigh 250 and stood on top of it and it didn’t budge. The four Point footing is a huge plus.

This design in my opinion beats any other base I have seen. Stable on concrete, grass, or sand. The quality of the pot and accessories is great. I wanted stainless for a reason, and I am glad I passed up aluminum.

First boil was smooth. No problems. There are concerns with the 5 PSI regulater that I have read in other reviews. I did not find this to be an issue. Was planning to swap for a 10 PSI but after the first boil I quickly abandoned that idea as it is not needed.

The stainless cleaned up very easily. No real scrubbing was needed. No black soot on the bottom of the pot either. Low price for this set was the best investment I could have made. Oh, no timer too which is awesome! I initially thought if I bought one wth a timer it would be no big deal.

I would rather set it and let it go and have a cold one rather than have to be a vulture over a timer.

This deep fryer is a great investment if you enjoy deep frying food! Works great for fish and chips, and if you have a large pot, you can even deep fry whole chicken, chicken wings or a turkey.

This is a great fish fryer. it doesn’t sir so low to the ground and i like that about it. I don’t like how the fire makes the pan so black and makes such a mess, but not sure how to fix that.

My husband loves to catfish and this is the best fryer we have had! It does great at cooking the fish evenly and is easy to control the temperature

I actually bought this to use primarily as a shrimp and crawfish cooker. I did use a larger pot I already had, but the pot and basket that it comes with will be excellent for frying. The burner brought 5 gallons of water to a rolling boil in minutes, and when 5 pounds of crawfish were dumped in the rolling boil returned in seconds.

Same with cold from the refrigerator shrimp and corn. And the burner can be cut down to half and still maintain a fast rolling boil. Very impressed with this.

The Bass Pro Shops Aluminum Fish Fryer works well for cooking outdoors. I would recommend giving it approximately 20-minutes to warm up before cooking. Great for camping or cooking at home. I like cooking outside so the grease does not make a mess in the house.

If you fill the basket, plan on giving it 20 to 30 minutes to cook; depending on what you are cooking. This fish fryer was very reasonably priced compared to other brands and works well.

Is this the best fryer out there, probably not, but it is an exceptional value. It is well constructed. It heats 6 quarts of oil remarkably quickly and performs flawlessly for me. Plenty of heat for fish fries, fried chicken, etc.

This is not designed or built for turkey frying. This unit worked perfectly out of the box for me. I had seen some reviews regarding flame adjustment, but mine was fine from the get go.

What can I say? Bought it in 2009 and still operating well in 2021. Way better than the other products we used in the past. Spend the extra $ you will be glad that you did. I have a leaky valve on it now and why I am considering a new one.

Its the ball valve in front for clean out. May be able to replace it. Torch and a pipe wrench? Highly recommended.

This fryer is awesome, i have 4 of them. Dont buy american range. Brand name , i had 6 new ones from them. All of them leaked , then American range wouldn’t stand behind them.

I read the reviews on this fryer with one buyer saying it worked and the other saying it didn’t. I told my wife, after frying our turkey, that I was going to leave a review in hopes of calming anyone’s anxiety about purchasing an item nearly half the cost of competing brands.

I bought this one and asked about the return policy just in case. Brought it home, assembled (just make sure you thread the burner onto the timer assembly before attaching to the base unit), then lit it.

Brought the oil up to 350 and put the turkey in. Took some time to get the hang of the flame regulation to maintain the cooking temp but once I did, it worked flawlessly. Safety shutoff after 15 minutes is great.

Makes you keep an eye on it unless you want your flame to go out. You have to reset the timer every 15 minutes so it won’t shut off automatically. Only thing I wish this burner had was brackets to make sure your pot doesn’t move while adding or removing turkey but two pieces of angle iron worked great.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. I wish I had bought the fryer with the spigot just to help drain the oil. Hope this helps you out when looking to buy a fryer.

I bought this right before Thanksgiving. it was my first ever turkey to deep fry and let me tell you i will never put a turkey in the oven. But anyways for the price you can’t go wrong the instructions are backwards but only takes a few seconds to figure out how to put it together.
