20 Best Outdoor Pull Up Bar (2022 Updated)

This was a Christmas gift from my son. The product is solid and sturdy in the doorway frame. The multiple hand positions allows you to work various muscle groups in the back and shoulders. Easy to assemble and use.

Really helps in my (at home) fitness routine. I’m 63 yrs. old and both pull ups and push ups are key activities to improve my upper body conditioning.

So far (about a week of regular use), so good. Solid construction when put together and was the only door frame pull up bar that is wide enough for my apartment’s bigass doors. The nuts at the top part that hooks above the door frame left some divots in the drywall but that was remedied easily enough by putting some padding over them.

All-in-all happy with my purchase.

First of all, This product picture is NOT the one that is assigned to the product number. This is supposed to be one without the foam padding for the door, and is not white. I’m not sure which one they’ll mail you if ordered online, but in person this was a real hassle to figure out.

Also, I wouldn’t chance it if you’re renting or gifting to a renter to not damage the door frame. IF you purchase the one that is pictured, (the white with padding) – works great. Easy assembly, distributes weight on the entire top bar, doesn’t leave any marks on the door.

Fantastic, highly recommend. Fits my door frames with a very short (not so modern) lip in my new place, which makes my older model (and other pull-up bar models with the single wrap-under bar) unsafe or impossible to use.

This one also has great pads where the weight/pressure on the bar presses against the front of the door frame, so it doesn’t leave any marks (I’ve had this issue with other pull-up bar models in my old apartment).

As a bonus, the grabber mechanisms fold in to make the profile flat for easy storage (which is not the case with other pull-up bar models I’ve had). I’ve used this four times and it seems very well built, solid, and durable.

This product really needs to include requisite dimensions for the depth of your doorframe, as well as a disclaimer that it should not be used with crown moulding. The product doesn’t fit my doorframe because the frame is too “thick”, as others have described in separate reviews.

It fits well enough that I may put my weight on it, but I cannot use the safety clip as the inner bar doesn’t sit flush with the wall and so it doesn’t fit into the channel created by the wall and clip.

The curved handlebars have padding in the middle, but if you have crown moulding, the part without padding will dig in and damage the woodwork. It’s a shame this doesn’t fit in any door frame in my house, as the product is obviously of high quality, if a little on the expensive side.

It’s durable and has nice options for workouts and adjustments, but unfortunately nothing can be adjusted for thicker doorframes. For reference, my frames are around 8 inches deep — if yours are similar, skip this purchase.

And please, add the required depth to the description.

Works well, fits most doorways, and is very sturdy. Im 200lbs and found no trouble using it and the bar doesnt wobble like some less expensive versions. The dip bars are easy to put on and take off. No issues there either.

Ive only had the product for a week but so far Im very satisfied. Unfortunately when I received it in the mail, there was damage to one of the grips. It had a tear on one side all the way through. I was able to do my routine regardless, but the condition in which I received it is why this product didnt get a 5/5.

My pull up bar came in a box that was basically destroyed and re tapped up. I figured the shipping carrier messed it up but that was not the case. The box actually had been opened and then returned. They even left the return invoice in it before sending it to me.

The stencil for mounting on the wall was ripped almost in half and useless. The pull up bar is good and all but the appeal to the eye wasn’t there. Ideally it works and I don’t fall off the wall mid set.

I weigh ~185 lbs. Mounted it on 16″ studs directly into the wall in my garage. Feels sturdy. It’s a well made product. Keep in mind, you’re going to be fairly close to the wall when you do pull ups. If you have a tendency to kick up your knees, you may want a ceiling mount.

Using this pull up bar forces me to have better form. Also, be careful about how close to the ceiling you mount it. I probably could have lowered it a little but I prefer to keep my legs straight.

I weight 215lbs and after opening the box did not think it would hold up and after installing it, was very impressed. It can homd my weight no problem. I installed plastic solid piece of plastic to secure it to the wall.

I was quite anxious to receive this Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar and begin to incorporate additional exercises into my daily regimen. Although I go to the gym every week day to attend an exercise class there and use the assortment of machines available there, I wanted the option of having the ability to use more things at home.

The unit is extremely light-weight, which can be a detriment or a plus, depending upon the user-friendliness and/or the durability. The inevitable assembly instructions were scant to say the least but not really much to it.

Two sets of nearly identical bolts with the exception of two being slightly longer. The flimsy “clip” to secure it to your door facing mounts between the wall over the doorway and the wood cross piece on the top of the doorway.

I don’t weigh much but couldn’t help wondering how fast my fall would be if that top piece of wood broke while the gym was in use. Unfortunately, that was the least of my worries since it was too narrow for any of my door openings.

It fits only door frames 24”- 32”. The box information claims they will send a modification if you contact them. Every call goes directly to the same personal voice-mail with no response ever and no company representation at all.

Lightweight, stable, you can knock off sets of dips, plances, levers to your liking Sometimes I flip them over and do pushups off them. Especially good for bodyweight (horizontal) rows, a much neglected movement.

8 lbs each! To those who say ‘too short’, bend your knees! Good for confined workout space as well, and stores like magic.

Amazon was sold out so I had to order mine elsewhere, got the black XL one because I wanted the 3″ extra height and especially, the longer support feet which will make it more stable. About the only thing about it I wish were different, is the plain black color.

I already have too many black things in my place, haha! A nice bright yellow or green like the standard models would’ve been nice. Only other gripe I have about this product is that the instructional DVD it comes with is rather sparse (you have to fast forward over the silly first 2 minutes of watching some guy do exercises on the LE in the middle of Times Square.

huh???), and the “Le Hip Training” DVD also included is even more frivolous. Oh well, that’s what YouTube is for of course, best place to get exercise and workout ideas. It’s great for novice exercisers like my other half who can’t do normal pullups but are ok with the bar pullups on these.

Also good for us old hands too—especially the core exercises like knee ups, “running man,” and (eventually) L-sit. If you want to be completely blown away by what is possible with this thing I suggest looking up “Frank Medrano Equalizer Training” on You Tube! Of course that level of strength and mastery doesn’t happen overnight, lol.

I’d be happy to just be able to doan L-sit six months from now. Another excellent YouTube resource with lots of great exercises you can do on these things, is BodyRock TV’s “24 Moves for the Challenger” which is refreshing for the lack of fluff and annoying chatter/filler.

(Plus the model doing the exercises is mind-blowingly hot, lol. ) The other thing I really like about these bars is that they are very easy to store when not in use. especially if you have furniture that has space underneath.

my LE goes partially underneath one of my bookcases that has a nice 2 inch ground clearance. All in all, the price is a bit steep but I’m glad I got it. can already feel my core getting stronger after just a week of using it!.

I absolutely love the versatility of the Lebert Equalizers. I can use them at home, at the gym or even bring them into the middle of an open field and get an incredible full body workout. Not only can you do an impressive number of enhanced bodyweight exercises, but you can use them for speed, agility and quickness drills.

Then, when you are done with your workout, you can use them as a full body stretching station. When you have multiple sets, you can set up multiple stations. One tool. Full body. Great results.

The standard pull-up bar was a bit short for me on X-3 80″ short rack, so I decided to try the multi-grip pull-up bar to get some additional height. It works great and is very solid. The variety of grip positions is also very nice.

I mounted it near the front of the rack and I was about to keep the 1. 25″ single pull-bar with some minor adjustments (see photo). Overall, I am very pleased with this attachment and the price.

The bar is super nice. but. I must have an older version of the T2 rack. My rack was too wide and did not have the mounting holes on the side supports. I was pretty bummed. Still love Titan products.

The pull up bar was supposed to fit the T-2. It does not fit. The bar is 2 inches short and the bolt holes wouldn’t line up either. Good gua lite for the correct power rack.

My son suggested this and I’m very glad he did. I am not what you would consider the typical consumer for a product like this. I am a 57 year old grandmother that is using this as part of my daily workout.

I am very satisfied so far. It is everything I thought it would be. The installation wasn’t difficult. I have it on my bedroom door frame. The door still closes the same, so no problem there. I’m an apartment dweller and the only “damage” to repair if i were to take this down would be filling in the holes ( made by the screws) with wood putty.

That is quite manageable. I have had a couple shoulder surgeries in the past, so it is imperative that I exercise several times a week. I love this because it’s simple, and take up very little space.

It’s easy to use. Should have bought sooner. Plus the price is very reasonable. All ages can benefit even grandma.

Product is totally defective. Set Screw impales the metal with light tightening. Set screw is partially blocked by the pad for your hand. Also the opposite side, which you would assume would also have a set screw to stop the bar from sliding is non-existent.

Even if the left side set screw worked, you’d still be wobbling around with nothing stopping the right side form sliding across. Put several large screw holes in my wall for nothing. Extremely disappointed.

$20 product is going to cost me a ton of money to fix my door frame.

Great build as usual from a Rogue product. Two frustrating things however: 1) Rogue seems to only be interested in selling this WITH the strap option for $72 and refuses to sell it with just the bar alone at the $47 option.

I’ve been following this for months to get 8-10 more to outfit our studio, but don’t need any straps as I have a ton extra from the rings. 2) I wish the anchor points were strong enough to loop the straps just through them without support from the bar, so the bar though hanging, would hang as a more fixed bar, versus the way this rotates your hands too freely, easily allowing someone newer to slip right off.

Rogue- sell us the bar only please.

Bought the rogue fitness portable pull-up system just last week and everything from purchase to delivery were on point. The pull-up bar itself is very smooth and looks awesome. I couldn’t wait to use it for the very first time.

I hooked it up to a thick branch of a tree and of I went to do my Calisthenics work out.

The bar is well built, great quality! It moves quite a bit so is not perfect for any “kipping” version of an exercise, but it still works! I recommend this if you don’t have the possibility to install a normal pull up bar.

Great product from Rogue who also have one of the best customer service I’ve ever seen in my life.

The bar has been working great. I did attach the brackets to the door jam with some heavy duty flooring screws. It would be nice if longer screws were included in the package. I’m 230lbs and the bar has no problem holding my weight.

I would definitely recommend this bar.

The bar is not what I expected. Reading the other reviews I expected the bar to be sturdy. But no it is not sturdy. The bar has two screws in the middle that should keep the bar from becoming loose while you have it mounted up.

When my daughter is on the bar each time, the two screws would come loose, having me to continue to tighten them each time. I bought this for my daughter (8yrs) to practice for her gymnastics pull ups.

She likes it however, after 6 pull ups, shes yelling “mom the bar is loose again”! If you purchase this for a child I would watch them while they are using it, to ensure the screws stay tight when mounted up.

This didn’t work out for me at all. the bar spins after it’s installed. That is not useful when you’re trying to do pullups. Also when i tightened it in the door jamb, it pushed on the wood and made the nails of the doorjamb push thru the paint.

Bad design/concept.

The brackets that come with the bar leave a little to be desired. kind of flimsy. And it only comes with one set of brackets so when u put it down low for sit ups etc it has less stability. When my 185# husband hangs on it, the bar bows just a bit (good grief!), but it hasn’t fallen yet.

This bar is for my daughter to use for her physical therapy, so hopefully it will continue to hold her up. Also, the hand cushions are fixed in one position so they can’t be moved. That works out ok for our purposes, but may not for some.

Overall I think it’s kind of cheaply made and it makes me nervous. They used to carry a different brand that was much better. But since we needed it pronto for PT and couldn’t find one anywhere else, we are making do with this one.

I would recommend you find a better one at a website elsewhere.

My teenager wanted this bar for Christmas and has used it every day since. It’s building her strength; she does pull ups on it daily, swings from it, hangs upside down and stretches. Perfect size for doorway, comfortable hand grips and affordable.

Holds adult weight securely.

Very pleased! I do lots of sit-ups (fast crunches) with my feet placed on a chair or bedside, but needed something to hold my feet in place on the floor while doing full sit-ups. This product is perfect for that! Fits tightly in my 30″ wide closet doorway even without installing the extra sit-up bracket hardware.

Have placed the bar just about 2 1/2 inches or so above the carpet so I can slide my toes under it. It holds my feet perfectly to the ground (by tucking the toes under the bar) and in place so I don’t slide away on the carpet while doing my sit-ups lol! Am sure it will work great for chin-ups too, but recommend installing the accompanying chin-up hardware brackets for that exercise since your full body weight will be working with gravity to dislodge the bar.

Works well and pretty solid. It’s not clear what the swinging arm is meant to accomplish, though. It can’t be locked at a different angle as suggested by the product image. Other than that it’s a good bar.

Easier to install than doing a proper pull up! I really like this bar; simple to install, secure and versatile. Great for a pull up challenge while we are all in isolation. Not as easy as I thought!

Pretty good – does the trick, one step in installation was wrong had to work around that but since installation has been good, tightened screws once in a fortnight. This one is particularly good for forearms as the bar rotates.

I bought this at the beginning of the pandemic and super glad I did. I’ve been using it regularly for almost a year and a half now and it works great! I’m actually buying another one now to keep at my parents house which is why I thought to make the review.

I don’t know what the review claiming “cheap materials” could be talking about, it seems very study to me and isn’t showing any signs of wear yet despite frequent use. Its actually a little pricier than some other models and I think that is reasonable since it is sturdy and has better grip options than most (at the time I bought it I think it was the only one not sold out, but I’m very happy with it).

I like the angle of the handles for pull ups in particular, which are a little angled and better than a straight bar, with a wider grip than you could make happen with a normal straight bar in a doorway because the handles sit out front.

Its very easy to take in and out of the doorway, I take mine in and out every day since I am in a small apartment with only one door I could use that I like to close at night. Since its bigger than some, definitely check your doorway measurements against the specs here.

My doorway is a little wide so some other models wouldn’t work for it but fit perfectly.

I was very disappointed when received my pull up bar 2 days ago. The box looked old and beaten up and it was all taped up like it had already been opened. The bar inside was all scratched, chipped and bent and the padding on the handles was all torn up.

It looked like they sent me an item that someone else had already used and then sent back. The bar was completely unusable and I will have to return it. I paid full price for this piece of equipment and I was expecting it to be bran new and in great shape.

But what I received was a big disappointment!.

I’ve only had this a few days and so far so good. There were no reviews up for this one so I though I’d give a preliminary verdict. The product seems well built and sturdy. fits easily into/onto the door frame and no problem holding my weight (150 ) … The grips don’t roll and its nice having the option of a wider grip.

Too bad as with all things assembled these days they have allen key bolts and screws. you might have to tighten these every now and then. I hate them but what can you do … The instructions are a little goofy … put the grip bar sides all together first before trying to put the screws in.

Also I got to the end and then it said “tighten with Allen Keys “ … and I couldn’t find any in the box. I didn’t want to go back all the way to my Canadian Tire Store …. so I just went out and bought a good multi allen key tool, ,,, I got the bar up in the door and then noticed the allen keys were in the back of the plastic support that goes inside the frame … LOL … Well I’ve got Allen Keys for the future anyway … All in all I think its very good ….

Had used it for two years in my previous house. Very sturdy product. Unfortunately, I have lost the screws and bolts etc. while shifting to my new house. Would it be possible to buy those separately? Could someone please answer.

The bar is pretty rigid and you can use it pretty much for multiple body weight hanging exercises. But one must certainly have the tools to wall mount it.Then all is good.

I recently bought this product a couple months ago after getting a cheaper pull-up bar from Amazon, being very disappointed by its quality, and returning it. I am a serious “pull-uper” and I weight around 195 pounds, so I needed something that could withstand a lot of weight and use and not bend every time I went up and down.

I’ve loved this product so bar because it is very simple to use and put together, it’s adjustable, and it feels very sturdy as I use it. You’re also able to take it apart easily to store or transport it.

It may cost around $10-15 more than other bars, but when I bought cheaper ones my experience was that the quality went down exponentially, so I’d say the higher quality is definitely worth the extra $10.

I would definitely recommend this bar, its the “Perfect” Pull-Bar for at home users!.

Great add-on to our DIY jungle gym, and helps to stabilize the structure, too. After installing into the ground, height was about 5′ tall and it does not wiggle at all. Previous reviews confused me so I want to clarify – this item is the chin up bar.

Creative Playthings also makes a fireman’s pole, which is taller and much more narrow. But I can see how kiddos could use this either way, it would just be a longer reach. Added bonus – at the time we purchased this, the same item was being sold elsewhere for much more.

Time will tell how it weathers but for now it seems very sturdy and high quality. We have a happy kid. :).

I bought this 9 months ago with my 490-c rack and it’s been a great purchase. I really like changing up pull up positions to keep some variety in the workout, plus the balls are great for forearms. It was easy to attach, just a few screws, but you probably need a 2nd set of hands if your rack is assembled already.

One problem I’ve noticed is using the V bars for bicep focused chin-ups. I can’t help but always think I’m going to bash my head into the small set of ball grips. Thankfully it hasn’t happened yet.

I have been using this attachment for six months now and love it. It’s a great addition to my Monster rack and I use it very frequently in my training program. The width of the parallel gripping sections is perfect for doing chin-ups and overall hangs.

It is extremely secure and has not moved at all since attached to the rack. My only suggestion would be to add knurling to the grip surfaces as an option.

Added this to my Minster Lite squat rack. I have the spotter arms and upright plate storage on the bottom rear. I’m about 200lbs and it feels solid through every movement. The space between the grips is about right so it never feels uncomfortable.

Solid piece of equipment.

I have two of these bars on our rig. The second one was bought because a member won a challenge in our gym and instead of taking the money he won he wanted the Speal Bar. The brand new Speal bar is pretty awesome, very grippy.

The problem is that over time without the powder coating on the bar and being exposed to the the elements (not outside, but open air, humidity in Houston, etc. ) it rusts. The rust builds up on the bar and makes it even more grippy than it already is.

That is awesome for some people, but if you are doing high rep pullups or muscle ups the rust creates a LOT of extra friction and you are more prone to tearing your hands. Some of our members LOVE the grippiness of this bar, I am not a fan.

Of course, rusting of the bar is not Rogue’s fault, it is just a natural occurrence without the powder coating. Overall, a quality product from Rogue, in my opinion just needs to be used in a climate controlled setting.

Our 2 year old loves getting on dad’s pull up bar when she can but when we’re working out she’ll swing from this thing and loves it. It’s pretty long so I’ve run into it a couple times on accident, while maneuvering around the rig.

Attaches easy. No complaints.

I bought this a few months ago and it gets used almost DAILY. My kids love it. They see me on the big pull-up bar and they jump on theirs. Even my wife uses it. Easy to move anywhere with just the pin attachment.

If you’re on the fence of buying it, buy it. If you don’t like it, I’ll buy it from you.
