20 Best Outdoor Remote Controlled Helicopter (2022 Updated)

I bought this RC helicopter for my 7-y-o grandson and he loves it! It is very easy to use, charges fast, and has provided hours of fun this holiday season. The mini construction for indoor use has worked well keeping any mishaps at bay.

Well I bought a couple drones and found them very hard to fly the first one doesn’t fly straight or hover, then the second one can’t even get off the ground. So I thought what the heck I’ll try a small helicopter and what do you know it hovers and flys slow fast and turns when you want it too not when it wants too.

My Granddaughter was jumping up and down when she saw it and was great entertainment for her. And I love to fly it. Too bad it has such a short fly time but it does what I need. For the price and for the beginner it is the Cats Meow! Great Value and Price.

i’ll probably buy another one for her. when she gets a little older she’s only 7.

my attention was to other models, last minute, I found this and just liked the look. My partner and i viewed and read over the ad a few times. By the time the seller had one left, i jumped and ordered with hope! I got the item, tried it, and found it stable, better than the two i wanted, and did order and they both had defects.

This one is nice, accurate, better to learn and fly. It charges different from th e others I tried, but its more quiet and that is different. i am satisfied with it, more than even its competitor sj230.

a little longer and wider, i’d love, but as it is, just about 7. 5 inches, it is nice. the balance wheel under the top propeller was different, vs many others i saw, but i think it is good in the sense of noise.

I like it a lot. Hard to find, but neat! Nice remote by the way!!! even with 2 speed controls.

I originaly bought a cheap helicopter form a charity shop. It didn’t work but I was smitten. I then bought a new one from a cheap shop for 12. It was rubbish. 1st flight straight up then fell to the ground.

Second, totally out of controll and disappeared over the fence. Third try dead. Took it back & got a refund. After looking at reviews bought this one 19. ABSOLUTLY AMAZING. Straight out of the box it just lifted & hovered perfectly.

Instruction book not wonderful but all you have to do is press the button, top left front, & it lifts off perfectly. If you loose the plot just press the same button & it lands itself perfectly. Had hours of fun with it.

Very theraputic (can’t spell). Be sparing with controls, very responsive, can fly it through the house no problem. Had numerous crashes but still in first class nick. Because of its small size it really is only useable indoors or when there is absolutly no wind.

Really really pleased. Would thoroughly reccomned. Solid construction.

We were very surprised at what a great toy that this is for the price. Considering that it was only 17. 99, we thought that it might not last long or work very well. It has exceeded all expectations.

We’ve crashed it a bunch of times (our error) and it just keeps working great. It is very fun to play with (even for all adults) and it is pretty amazing. We were having some problem controlling it initially until we actually read the instructions for use thoroughly.

It noted that you need to turn on the control unit first and move the forward joy stick to the max position and then back to the zero setting. Then, turn on the helicopter. The copter will fly very nicely after that.

We can fly this guy all through the house, in addition to flying it outside. I would recommend this for both kids over 8 and any adult. P. s. it has great lights on the copter, so flys great at night, too.

This Syma S107H 3 Channel RC Helicopter with GYRO great for beginners, like myself. It has a sleek design made of metal and plastic. The helicopter we received is red. It is an awesome price for as well as it works.

We have bought others in store for twice the price and they did not work this well. It has a flight time of 5-7 minutes for every less 60 minutes charged. It requires AA batteries to power the controller.

These batteries are not included. We are learning with this helicopter and it has taken quite the beating. I am literally surprised that we haven’t broke it yet. I am very pleased with the quality. It has four blades and gyro that helps it stay steady in flight.

It is fairly easy to control. The controller has two different joy sticks. One joy stick is for throttle and the other is to control. It also has a knob for trim. Recommended.

Yes, maybe this little guy is tough to control, but with an open space and some patience, anyone could master the controls. People need to know that the helicopter breaks because there is not enough room to fly it, so they fly it into walls and other objects, then it breaks.

An open space is required, and someone who is capable of not mashing the controls is required. My helicopter has been flying twice everyday for the last week, and I’ve had no problems. Naturally it does crash because of human error, or the occasional draft of wind knocks it into something, but it does take quite a beating.

The controller is just fine for what I need to control the helicopter. The controller has a charger for the helicopter if you’re on the go, but that actually broke fast and won’t charge it anymore. Luckily the helicopter comes with a USB charger, which has held up so far.

The connections to charge the helicopter are not great. The charger has to be positioned just right in order to charge, because the charger will fall out or be too loose on the connection. I suggest that the makers of these helicopters use a Micro USB charger instead for added strength.

With the remote charger failing and with the charger connection being loose, I knocked the rating down by a star. I wish that there was more support to find out where to purchase extra parts in case anything breaks, but I’ll figure that out later when it happens and when I know what I need for sure.

I had bought one of these capacitor-powered helicopters when they first came out. That on no longer works because both pinion gears cracked where they were pressed on the motor shafts. This one can be charged from USB ports, which is nice! But I find it harder to control than the original one.

The rotor configuration is different on this one than the original, and maybe thats why its a little erratic. But it is still a lot of fun for indoor use.

Excellent for the price. INDOOR ONLY. Will not fly outside but works perfectly inside. Very easy to operate even for a child. Crashed several times and it still works like new. I’ve had less fun with more expensive RC choppers.

As a kid I loved remote control cars. I owned several and broke them all:) I bought this for my 7 year old and he loves it. After getting used to the controls we’ve gotten a little more risky on trying to land it on certain things in the living room.

Its taking several spills/crashes but hasn’t seemed to hurt anything. It charges in 30 to 40 minutes and will fly for about 5 mins maybe a little more. But in that 5 minutes it’s a great experience and worth every bit if not more than the 18+ dollars we spent on it.

I’m looking at buying one for my self and getting the bigger battery for it. I would caution I do have a 3 (almost 4) year old and so far I haven’t had any trouble with him getting a hold of it and I wouldn’t think that it would hurt any one that bad if it hit them but I think about it hitting around the face and eyes or even getting caught in a girls hair.

It’s small but it has the power to be dangerous and it’s much easier to fly in a big open area with vaulted ceilings like our main living area. If it was in smaller room or with younger than 3 year olds around I would worry a lot more about someone getting hurt.

Use caution. Haven’t taken it outside and don’t plan to per instructions it’s probably more fun inside anyway.

This was the third one I’ve owned. For the price it is hard to find something that is built as nice as these are. There are tons of replacement parts available for them as well. Aside from totally destroying the frame of this helicopter most of it can be fixed or repaired.

Pros- Price is unbeatable. Fun to fly. Dual channels that are programmable so you can fly two at a time. Cons- Won’t stand up to very many hard crashes. Direct sunlight will render controls useless due to the IR controls.

Wires are very delicate and can easily be broken. Needs to be programmed to controller channel each time it’s used. Overall this is not a bad product. It is very entertaining and can be a challenge to master flying these little helicopters.

If it weren’t for the inability to fly it in sunlight I would give it four stars.

If you want a scale flying model of a Apache for under 25 Bucks look no further. Flies well enough to be fun but the S109G Cobra flies better but neither fly as well as the original S107G. Compromises are made to make the scale models and they don’t fly as well as the simple S107G.

I like to add larger batteries to my Micro Syma Coaxials and the S108G is limited to a tiny battery compartment that won’t hold a larger battery than the 150mah that comes with it. I can for 250mah in the S107G and S109G no problem.

There are 2 things you can do to improve the performance of the S108G. Install a Blade Nano QX 3D tail rotor replacing the stock tail rotor. More than doubles the speed of the S108G or any other Micro Syma coaxial.

Install a Syma S5 flybar/balance bar. The S5 uses a shorter lighter flybar compared to most other small Syma coaxials but it’s simple swap and fits perfectly. Quicker responses and acceleration with a small loss of stability.

Easy to hover hands off owing to the throttle not being spring loaded shut. It’s not too noisy either. Mine only has frequency options ie. A and B whereas the instructions show 3 ie A B and C. It’s only a problem if you want to fly more than 2 helicopters simultaneously.

Overall, a brilliant helicopter.

Works well around dusk. It doesn’t seem to communicate with the controller well, in daylight. I’ve crashed it many times. It’s surprisingly, durable.

Super heli

It flies as if you are slicing a butter with a sharp razor blade. Extremely precise and shockingly powerful. A tiny rocket for sure. However, it is relatively heavy and have higher disk loading than say mCPX BL2, about 30% higher.

It can jump out like a rocket to all directions. Being so small and being so fast, I am somewhat hesistant to recommend this to a beginner. It can be quite intimidating. Though not as precise, mCPX is much more tame and flies more like a micro helicopter should, IMHO.

I have both helis and love them both, but I would put them in different category. M1 feels like a small stone, where mCPX feels like a small block of wood. I also own Gaui X3 and Goblin 570 so I believe my comparison is quite fair.

This is a top contender for the near perfect small size heli. Whether you are a beginner or 3D aficionado, you will be impressed! Dial down the settings and the OMP M1 makes a really nice trainer. Equally important, the M1 is easy to repair and very cost effective, which is very refreshing.

After searching for a beginner friendly heli for a week or so, I decided to give this guy a shot. I am not disappointed! Very easy to bind and set up with my Jumper T16. The OMP protocol makes it very user friendly.

No setting up curves or getting wrapped around the axle with anything complicated. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is telemetry capable! The M1 hovered solid right out of the box and I experienced zero jitters or negative habits.

Also, probably the quietest r/c in my collection. Tail holding is solid and stops on a dime. You’re gonna want more than one battery. This guy is quiet, smooth and a blast to rip around with! Great job by OMP.

Helidirect got it to me fast and completely un marred.

I am an avid RC Heli pilot and thought this an ideal way to introduce my 6 year old Grandson to the hobby. The Syma 107 is a well built, CRASH WORTHY, economical, good looking, easy to fly little bird.

Parts are inexpensive. The Syma107 hovers easily and flies well around the living room (know this is not an outdoor heli). For younger ‘pilots’, it is a great first flyer. Older, more mature individuals more serious about exploring this hobby may want to consider helis like the Blade MCX2 as a starter.

(Yes, I did ‘put it through its paces’ before wrapping it up for my Grandson!).

I bought the ripper with the radio and it feels a little plastic, but, it works perfectly with plenty of adjustability. The ripper is a very hot setup. I wouldn’t say it’s for beginners. When I first flew it I didn’t realize it had so much negative pitch dialed in for inverted flight, so I had a particularly hard landing the first time I pulled the stick down.

Much to my suprise everything was in tact. This is a particularly well built model with metal and carbon fiber, very little plastic. After a few flights I felt right at home with it. I’m very pleased with it and the support from Helidirect.

The documentation is comical or non existent. After realizing that binding the heli with a DSMX transmitter wasn’t happening without major surgery so I returned it for the RTR. This was like out of a target toy however rudimentary as it was, it worked.

It is my daily flyer but wish i could use my dx8 or nx8 without cannibalizing the ripper. Thus the four star review for the great suppor @ heli direct.

First direct drive heli, love there are no gears!! Remember starting out and having to change stripped gears. Bought the RTV version since no one has settings for Spektrum. I fly the DX8. The Transmitter is small in hand, but works well, no timer though.

Very powerfull for its size. If anyone sets up for Spektrum I wish they would post!!!.

I have been flying heli’s for about 25 years and I have flown a little bit of everything. Most of what I own is 600/700 nitro and gas stuff but I wanted something to just kick around in the back yard from time to time without all the fuss.

I had flown some older 400 size helis many years ago and they were OK, but not great. So I was not expecting much from this heli and I was really surprised. The quality is amazing and it flies extremely well! Very smooth and precise and although it is not the same as the big ones, it is a real kick to fly and it is my new favorite.

It is well worth the money and I would encourage anyone to buy it.

This is a game changer for the micro category. First heli in a long time that had me giggling after the maiden flight. I fly moderate to hard 3D and beat the heck out of my birds. I treated it as a true BNF – installed an OrangeRX R110x DSMX satellite, bound it to the TX, and threw it in the air.

Didn’t check zero pitch or collective settings. Flew perfectly. Also own 180 CFX and Oxy 2 Sport with 215-mm blades. This destroys the 180 CFX and flies better than the Oxy 2. Never thought I’d buy another motor-driven tail heli again – I was proven wrong.

Will likely buy the M1 when available.

The heli is well made and is of high quality. Some spares are included which is a nice touch. The manual needs a lot of work and is unacceptable. No documentation for ESC. The Normal mode is way to mushy for my liking.

I/U modes are just to Ballistic for my liking and I never did find a sweet spot. Would rate the heli a 6 out of 10.

This is a great product by Eflite Blade, with great build quality, durability, and performance. If you want a helicopter specifically for 3D, then this is a great training platform. However, if you want a heli for primarily sport flying, this is not for you.

When sport flying with the gyro active, this model has a strange altitude smoothing function that cannot be turned off. This means you can’t do quick acceleration bursts and quick decents. Essentially the throttle response is dampened significantly and does not respond quickly to your inputs.

This is not an issue when flying CP.

Have had nothing but problems. Tried binding retrimming. Still doesnt stabilise. Just torques off to the left at lift off and crashes.

I would definitely recommend this to be your first 3d helicopter iys durable, portable, and the charging time is amazing i love this so much thank you horizon hobby

The price is reasonable, the service was fantastic, and the helicopter is fun to fly. What more could I ask for? I would definitely buy from HeliDirect again and I will consider the OMPHobby line again as my flying skills increase.

This Little Guy Is Very Stable Competes With The Bigger Heli’s. The Bind And Fly Feature Is Very Helpful. I’m 100% Satisfied With The Product.

The OMP M2 V2 is an amazing helicopter. I fly it with the TX16S which I also highly recommend and bought an add on receiver but I’m still using the OMP protocol because I haven’t had a need to change.

It’s powerful and stable and flight time is great. The quality of the model is absolutely stunning and perfect. I fly this helicopter ten to twenty times a day for over two months and it’s still perfect.

For me this is just the perfect helicopter for getting a lot of enjoyment. Helidirect is the top of the world dealer and always awesome.

Best engineered rc heli I have ever owned in my 15 years in this hobby!! 100’s of flights in the past few months about 5 mild crashes. Only had to replace 3 sets of main rotor blades, and 5 servo arms.

Can’t believe the main and feathering shaft survived all my crashes so far. Replacement parts are dirt cheap and very quick to install. Can’t be happier.

I’ve only had the pleasure of watching them fly, but I bought two of them for my kids and got one set up right away. Only downsides I can see are the lack of bind information in the manual (found it on YouTube though) and the battery is right up against the motor so chances are it’ll end up rubbing if you don’t space it correctly.

Also, you should consider picking up a short satellite cable if running Spektrum. I only have some from my bigger machines so it’s a rat-nest under the canopy right now (but hey, it works!) Be sure to buy a lot of spares because you’ll want to fly this thing constantly! It’s pretty simply assembled so even a novice or little kid would be able to get it reconfigured after a crash with good results.

The first one we bought would not take charge, and the light was still on even after charging overnight and it did not work. The second one we bought arrived with the control arm already broken when we opened the box.

Although it could be charged and fly this time, it is difficult to control it with one of the control arm broken, so we had to return it again. Very disappointed. I am ordering the third one now. Hopefully this one is going to be ok.

This Glow in the dark Helicopter is a piece of great art in the house. It is great to play with for both indoors and outside. The battery life has been of great service. We love it and would recommend to anyone planning to grab a toy, to go for it, while stocks last.

Bought two of these. One never worked; the other stopped working after the first use. They’re cheap and I didn’t have huge expectations, but they should work just out of the box.

Christmas present for my son in law who is very tech set. He loves it! Everyone wanted one, the size is fascinating. It works very well. Won’t be surprised if his wife buys one for herself to compete with their flying skills.

This is a cute, neat little toy. It’s fun to play with, but like most of the small helicopters is pretty hard to fly. Charges and works well, but be prepared for a learning curve. Durable and cute.

This was bought as a Christmas gift for my great nephew. He is 9 and has a brain like an engineer and really is enjoying this helicopter. It is a small size and easy for a beginner to figure out and it is small enough that he has been able to get away with flying it in the house at times until he flew it into his mother! It is a great toy and he really likes it.
