20 Best Outdoor Spray For Mosquitoes (2022 Updated)

I received this product in exchange for my honest review. So my husband and I moved to Arizona in 2020 and we heard about all the monsoon weather that happens in the summer time. First year wasn’t too bad and then the summer of 2021 came and we discovered that with all that wonderful rain that we need, comes some standing water with it.

And what does that matter? Well, it attracts mosquito’s. Lots of them. And even if there’s no standing water, the lovely humid weather seems to be their favorite time of year. And I’ve discovered last year also that I am in fact allergic to mosquitos.

lol I had so many on my ankle last summer that my foot swelled and I could hardly walk. Now I have Stem! This really couldn’t have come at a better time and it actually works! I spray some on my legs and arms and disperse it around.

It’s a little oily to start but as it sets it’s better and no longer noticeable. I don’t detect any fragrance on it and I love the fact that it’s natural ingredients compared to all the chemical stuff on the market right now.

This review is going to be strictly based on the concept of this spray and what I like about it so far considering it’s cold here in the northeast and I’ll have to wait until the summer time to really put this to the test.

I like it. The idea of having a chemical-free mosquito repellant is nice, especially since my son has sensitive skin. I had a hard time finding a mosquito repellant last summer that wouldn’t irritate his skin, so this definitely may come in handy.

I sprayed a few sprays just to get an impression on the spritzer and it’s also really nice. It’s not clunky like most sprays – almost like a mist, really. It felt kinda oily in my hand so that tells me it’ll be very easy to apply/rub in once the summer gets here.

It also had a fresh, clean scent to it. Most mosquito repellants I’ve tried in the past had a very harsh chemically scent to it, so this is a refresher. Overall, I like the idea of naturally derived and can’t wait to use in the summer.

I received this product for free from Influenster and STEM in exchange for my honest review. As you can see my backyard is a jungle right now and mosquitoes are awful. I’m a dog mom and dog foster mom and I walk the dogs every day at least twice in the afternoon and I ALWAY get covered in mosquito bites.

Today I used the STEM mosquito repellent and I didn’t get a single bite the whole time I was outside. As far as smell goes it smells like a citronella candle. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is how oily it made my skin feel, but within about 5 minutes most of it had absorbed into my skin.

The product comes out in more of a stream than a mist but I just used my hand to spread it out on my skin. It’s DEET free, has botanical extracts and is entomologist tested and safe for use around kids and pets.

I’d say it’s an 9/10 for feel but a 10/10 for functionality. #complimentary @Influenster.

Virtually 100% effective at controlling(basically eliminating) all listed pests. Mosquitos vanished within hours. Fleas and ticks were nowhere to be found within a day. The bottle says coverage up to 2700sq ft.

I would give a more conservative estimate of 2000sq ft. Even with repeated rainfalls over the last several weeks I comfortably got 3. 5-4 weeks of effective control from this product. It’s not the 3 months advertised but for the cost, I’m happy to reapply three to four times throughout the rough summer months.

I sprayed this in my frontyard and backyard. I can finally go outside without any bugs during the day. no more pesky mosquitoes. I live in Texas and there are plenty of them here. I needed something because we have animals and also for us to be able to go on the back yard without getting ticks BUY IT!!!.

This is a great outdoor bug deterant. I used it on the back of my house and all through the back yard and I noticed a big difference. There were no more bugs! But I need to spray the front yard also because I see a few bugs coming from the front porch.

This stuff acts like a barrier, but I spray it all over the yard anyway. It’s very strong against bugs.

I have used this product for years and liked it. However, this year I bought 6 early on in the year, and so far every one has spit out the little white insert out of the sprayer that creates the fine mist.

The cans still spray, but it is much coarser without the insert and less effective as it doesn’t stay in the air. Plus much of it just drips down the front of the automatic sprayer.

My barn is never without this automatic fly spray. The regular fly spray canister is not effective, but this one with the additional mosquito protection works very well. My barn and surrounding area has virtually no flies or mosquitos.

Eco Smart is the best pest control product for the yard that I’ve ever used!! I normally use the spray for fleas as well but it wasn’t available and I combine it with the granules for superior results.

And I can feel confident that importantly, not only am I NOT poisoning my family and pets, I’m not poisoning the environmental!! Vitacost is the only place I can order both spray and granules online that don’t cost an arm and leg! Local stores used to carry both but that stopped, I’m sure BIG CHEM had something to do with that!! Vitacost is awesome! I’d rather purchase it from them anyhow and i can’t say enough how amazing this product is!!! It’s #1 in my opinion!!.

We have a cabin up north that is so remote they don’t spray for bugs. In the summer you can be carried away from the mosquitoes or chased inside from the black biting flies, horse lies and deer flies.

We have tried everything. This product is also a repellent. When we use this product we can sit on our deck day and night and enjoy the outside again. Nothing else works as well.

Excellent product. Effective. Bought it because of my dogs. The ticks were rampant. Last long than expected. No problems after one use. Turned family and neighbors into it.

I tried it and I like it. It doesn’t smell offensive and it is not oily or heavy feeling on your skin. I also like that it doesn’t contain DEET. It seemed to keep the mosquitoes off. I never got bit once when I used it.

I usually can’t go outside in the summer because of the mosquitoes in our area. I am allergic to mosquito bites and they last for months when I get bit. I end up having to take benedryl to stop the itching.

I’m a mosquito and insect magnet. I get bitten every time I walk outside in the evening. Bites everywhere. I tried this product and “voila”, no bites on the places I covered with the product. I haven’t tried spraying it on clothes yet but, putting it on the skin worked for me.

My backyard was severely infected with mosquitoes and I didn’t know what to do. I stumbled upon Mosquito Magician, I like the fact that it was made with oils instead of toxic chemicals. I am very pleased with my purchase so far.

Plenty for the price. Going to use in my fogger around my home in the woods. I am adding a insecticide based on dose per gal. To aide in killing other bugs as well. To test this method. All with researching labels directions.

I’ve been using this stuff for a little over 3 weeks and so far have seen a dramatic decrease in mosquitoes overall and my family and I have not been bit at all. I’ve also been able to use it to get rid of five different fire ant piles.

So far it works on spiders, cockroaches, ants, mosquitoes and flys. I’m sure it works on more but that’s what I’ve tested it on. I like that it’s ready to use, no mixing just pour into sprayer and you’re ready to go.

It’s also a natural product so my wife likes that.

Finally after 3 years of fighting flies and mosquitos I’m free! This really works. Didn’t think it would but after my kid sent me a video on someone using it I figured what the heck why not, so glad I did.

Flies were the biggest issue. Every door that opened 3-5 flies would fly in. There’d be no fly insight, but as soon as a door opened there they were flying in whether I was going or coming lol. Bought this bug yard control and followed the instructions.

Not sure if the instructions said to spray the fence, but I know the video I watched did. So, I sprayed my entire yard and fence and haven’t had flies or any other pesky bugs since. Minus the first couple of days after applying it.

I was very skeptical about this product. I bought it last summer because every time you step outside, at my house in NC, the mosquitoes eat ya alive!! I ended up not using it & moved to a new place & couldn’t take it any longer.

I was using 2 citronella torches & a bug zapper at my front porch & 2 torches & a bug zapper at my back porch plus spraying myself down w/ “Off”! (Also had to keep bug spray on my toddler grandbaby which I HATED).

I put in a request for the county to come spray my yard, they sprayed the edge of my yard & it didn’t help AT ALL. I remembered that I had the 2 bottles of Cutter Backyard so I decided to use it yesterday.

As I type this I’m sitting outside w/out any bug spray on me & no torches burning!!! I’m so IMPRESSED!! The only thing that’s flying around are bees. The yellow biting flies are gone, mosquitoes are gone, & from what I can tell the fire ants are gone too!! I have a screen tent set up & there were some kind of fly/bee looking insect that had taken over & every single one of them have disappeared! I had swarms of flies in my yard & they’re gone as well! Definitely worth buying!! & I’ll buy it again when the time comes.

The reason I am only giving 4 stars is because at times it seems as if the solution isn’t coming out of the bottle with the water hose attached. I would like to know what the ratio is so I could mix it & spray w/ a sprayer for when it’s not coming out of the bottle.

Totally disappointed!! What a waste of money & time. Used at the beginning of the season and that lasted for literally maybe 3 hours. still had product left so I figured I would try some again a few days ago.

This time it didn’t do a do a thing. there was no difference in mosquitoes or flies for that matter. I got so frustrated that I took the remainder of what I had & sprayed where I sit outside. sprayed a massive amount.

Went inside to make a cup of coffee figuring I could enjoy my coffee outside and I still had mosquitoes Galore. SAVE YOUR MONEY!.

Found this while shopping and saw the ingredients especially the lemongrass and peppermint oils knew the work for mosquitoes, I’m hooked this stuff works I’ll be stalking up on this! My kids are allergic to the deet in the other products I’m so glad this works we are ready for the summer outings.

The smell of this smells really good not over powering.

Got my bottle today and so far they are staying away from us would for sure buy again!! And LOVE being able to spray my puppy with it he always gets bit and so far they are leaving him alone

I bought this to avoid getting that nasty chemical smell from the typical brands. It does a decent job at repelling mosquitoes, and it smells very good. It needs to be reapplied and some will still bite you, but a good natural product.

After spraying the numbers of bugs definitely went down, and the smell was great. After spraying the second time I had no bites, nor any bugs bothering. Then it rained, and rained, and rained. Some of the little blood suckers are back after days of rain, but I believe the reduction is effective, and I will be ordering more, in a larger quantity, for extended use.

I had HIGH HOPES that your product was going to work. Like all your other products that I’ve purchased. It didn’t. Sorry to say.

I using it for ants but so far I haven’t been able to knock them out but I ll keep trying. I have dogs and I’m always trying to use safe products for them. Thank you

I bought this product to hopefully prevent mosquito bites on my dogs, rather than using heartworm medication – my dogs are Australian shepherds and I refuse to poison them with heartworm products when I don’t live in an area with a huge mosquito problem.

I have personally had an issue with a non-ivermectin based heartworm drug, supposedly safe for the collie breeds, that cost me over $1000 in vet bills. So, I tried this stuff and it does repel. It comes out in a very fine mist.

I sprayed it on my hand, then wiped it on my dogs’ faces, then lightly misted their bodies. My one dog hated the smell and did her best to rub it off in the dirt and grass. The other one didn’t care.

I would have rated this a 5, except for the smell that bothered the one dog. Otherwise, I do think it works. I sprayed it on myself too and the mosquitos left me alone.

I have a 10 pds Cavachon (Cavalier Spaniel/Bichon). I keep her hair short. When We take her for 1-hour walk every day, she loves to role herself on her back on the grass. She is 8 YO and for the first time last year she started getting fleas.

She wore an all natural product collar and I also sprayed her with an all natural product both from Dr. Mercola. These did not work last year. I started her on VB Natural Mosquito Repellent and that did not work either.

What does work is the VB shampoo to kill the mosquitoes. That product is good. I do need to leave the shampoo on for about 10 minutes. Actually, it doesn’t kill them per say but it does knock them out so I can pick them out and throw them in the toilet.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to start using some chemical collar that repels the mosquitoes and ticks. I did not have any problems with ticks last season though.

Vet’s Best Mosquito Repellent has a really strong lemony aroma that some people might find overpowering, but I find pleasant. The intensity of the aroma does seem to dissipate quickly, as the product dries.

Mosquito season is almost over in my area, so I didn’t have a chance to test the efficacy of this product on my beagle & cats. I live in southern Michigan in a wetland area, & mosquitos are a real nuisance during the summer months.

I will test this product thoroughly next summer (2020), and update my review with the results. I did apply the repellent to my beagle and several indoor cats to see how they tolerated the strong aroma.

The dog was indifferent to the smell, and was happy to receive a treat for his cooperation. He has skin allergies, but didn’t seem to have a reaction to applying the product to his fur or skin. The cats were very curious about the aroma, & really wanted to sniff it.

I spritzed the product on my hands & rubbed it into their fur, since my guys are spooked by sprays, even quiet pump sprays. They didn’t try to run away when I applied it, & sat around sniffing each other.

No allergic reactions from the cats either. I hope that the 2 strays that have moved into the feral cat shelters on my property will allow me to apply this product on them. All of my resident cats are treated monthly with Revolution for fleas, ticks, & heart worm, but that product does nothing to protect them from mosquito bites.

The outside cats really need some help during peak season!.

Went to an outdoor event and was warned that the flies were biting. To no avail, everything was tried prior to my arrival. Luckily, I had packed my No Natz. It worked!!! Everyone wanted to use it. You’ll smell like furniture polish, but it’s worth the smell.

I ordered more to give to the host.

Does exactly what it says! It works! It keeps gnats away! Smells so so so strong though!

Cut your grass, hope for no rain for the next week, spray liberally. I got the balls to test it out on yellow jackets and it worked very well! (On stream setting of course) Made them just hang on until they couldn’t anymore.

It even made the larvae sacs rupture. The yellow jackets were visibly affected and didn’t even try to fly. They were frantically trying to clean off the nest and themselves until I blasted them off eventually.

It repels insects immediately. If you spray the critters for longer than 15 seconds, they won’t survive. Spray until you see the foam of the pesticides, it didn’t harm my grass at all. Just finished 2 bottles for front and backyard which is overkill but now I know I’m set for 1 at least.

Use it early in Springtime and best with a wet surface and then no rain for a few days. It takes 48 hours to realize some effect. Each apply is about 50% reduction so use it 2-3 times over a month. Main idea is it kills larvae babies so the full effect is seen at about 30 days.

Applications 2-3 cycle applications about every 4-5 weeks and it’ll cut population by 80-90% imo. It does work good if applied correctly but not meant to be an easy 1 hour fix. Reapplication in at least 2 separate doses 48 hours apart works best.

Give it 2 weeks to see difference. Use a fogger if you need immediate results they are great for just repelling short term. Parties etc. both need to be combined situational the spray is medium long term it kills the populating do use it more early in May-Jun frame.

I’ve been using this for a few years. Claims to last up to 8 weeks but I’d say a week max in my yard if the weather cooperates. I live in DC and my yard is virtually unusable from May-October with the mosquito situation.

Living in close quarters to others I do not have control over every little bit of standing water so I spray this a day or 2 before I know we’ll be outside. I wish I’d lasted longer, I apply per the instructions, but it’s better than nothing.

when dealing with an infestation of insects of any kind, it truly wears on one’s sanity. I dealt with spiders & fleas. Your product combined with D. E. rid my home of fleas. This is the 1st time in more than 30+ years there’s not been a flea problem here.

(The home I have, is my childhood vacation spot with my grandfather. Though I LOVED visiting him, I hated the fleas loved it too. I was their long lost love! REALLY!! I got attacked shortly after arriving an went home each visit with multiple bites.

Not as much as I should, but it’s so breezy here, often. I have found myself wearing it more than the shrubbery. At least I know after being dosed, insect life find me non appealing. Kudo’s for me! I like it, though, when I can get it on the ground.

It saves my horticulture from insect meals. : ).

Love the ease and effectiveness of the flea and tick yard and garden spray. It hooks up easily to hose,smells and works great. My dogs love to lay in the grass. and occasionally will eat it when they have stomach issues.

I just can’t see using anything that is toxic knowing this. Have recommended it to friends and family. I also use the Home and Garden Insect Control for ants both inside and outside the home. Again, safe, smells great and works without dangerous pesticides on home surfaces and garden.

OH! and I LOVE the exfoliating soap for me! Especially after a long day at work and in the garden. Removes the sweat and grime and leaves skin feeling wonderful! Long time and future customer! : D.

When I visited my little place in SC and sat on the front porch, my ankles were ate up with fleas within seconds. I quickly grabbed the hose, attached the Wondercide dispenser and sprayed the entire front porch – over, under and around.

When I went back to check it out 2 hours later, there was not even one flea. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to work that well! I have 5 dogs and we’ve had quite a flea problem this year (we’ve used Advantage, Advantix and Frontline, all with no success), so I’ve also been putting a few tablespoons in the mop water and using it to mop all the floors.

It doesn’t work as dramatically as it did outside because the dogs keep picking up more fleas on our walks, and the fleas lay eggs and on and on, but slowly we’ve had much fewer and the place smells great! It’s also gentle and safe enough to mix with water and spray the carpets and furniture even.

I love sitting outside to photograph birds early in the morning and in the evening. But the gnats were deterring me from sitting outside. They were EVERYWHERE, and nothing worked – not bug sprays, not zappers, not gnat sticky traps, not CO2 traps.

NOTHING. I was losing hope that I’d be able to sit outside for the rest of the summer. I decided to try this – half thinking that it would be another failed attempt. THIS STUFF IS A MIRACLE. There were no more gnats within 30 minutes of spraying it! I am, as I write this, sitting in my comfy chair on the patio, sipping water and photographing birds to my hearts content, with not a single gnat in my face! If you want to get rid of the gnats, then buy this stuff.

It works!.

Prayed my yard with a broadcast sprayer. Mixed 2 oz per gallon. Sprayed 5 acres. Product has been in yard for about a week. (No Rain during that time). Mosquitos still around. Not as bad but still have a lot.

I normally use Bi-Fen IT but decided to try this due to price but does not work nearly as well as Bi-Fen IT. I live in rural Louisiana and mosquitos are an issue. This product is ok if trying to spray on a budget, but does not compare to what Bi-Fen IT.

I need the mixing instructions. My bottle got wet and writing is completely gone. You should make writing more durable also. But I’ve looked on several web pages and cannot find the appropriate mixing instructions.

Even the chemical where you turned it in to state doesn’t say how much to mix!.

This stuff doesn’t work for us. My husband has sprayed it three times in about 10 days and the mosquitoes are still here and they are the big ones. I was hoping that this spray would work but it doesn’t.

The little spiders will run but that is it.

I use a couple of different products and the garlic spray is one we use every year to cut down on the mosquitos. We live near marshlands. We never get rid of all the mosquitos but keep them to a dull roar around the house along with a mosquito magnet LP machine for killing the mosquitos.

I can spray near the house and under the decks with the garlic spray, do not have to use harmful chemicals. Will keep on buying it.

Just follow instructions for BEST results! Effective, safe, easy. We’ve had success for a few years. We apply generously & can enjoy our patio again! Thank you!

I love sitting outside at night on the deck or playing with my daughter in the grass but I HATE all the mosquito bites I get from the surrounding woods near our house. I have never used Cutter brand before but I was very pleased and will definitely use it again.

It’s a very easy spray to apply without the greasy feeling of other insect repellents and you don’t have to rub it in and get it all over your hands either. There is no odor to it so i don’t have to worry about smelling like toxic chemicals near family and friends when we are outdoors together.

The DEET concentration was a little lower than OFF brand, but it was just as effective. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and haven’t gotten any bug bites even after heavy rains/muggy air conditions and the spray remains effective for hours.

It is more expensive on here than at local stores though but worth it. I highly recommend this!.

is a must at all times during the summer here in Kentucky. We live on a creek so you can imagine the mosquitos 🦟 and bites without taking precautions. This is the only brand, especially the aerosol cans that I can honestly say works.

There’s also other uses for this product. You’re gonna think this girl is crazy when I say this but if your headlights have that dull look to them or like me own an older vehicle 🚗 the headlights get that way at times.

When they do I simply spray this product on them, let it sit for a bit, then buff em real quick, I spray windex after I’m done but you don’t have to but if you do this you’ll be glad to see better at night 🌃.

Until I learned this trick I had forgotten the actual struggle I had trying to see 🤓. Best part it’s affordable, found in most stores and IT REALLY WORKS!! mosquito 🦟 ❌.

Not half as good as original off but fairly the same price. Smells as strong just not as effective or strong or long lasting as off. Sweating makes a difference so I don’t recommend this product. Spend the extra quarter and get something that’s going to last and don’t need reapplied after sweat.

Bugs we’re really bad this year and we’ve emptied 3 cans and I know off doesn’t need that much application. Don’t waste your money. Just not effective enough if you plan long periods outdoors and sweating.

It most definitely isn’t unscented.

As soon as the hot weather hit earlier this summer I was hardly venturing outside apart from getting in the car to go to work, yet still constantly getting bit between 20-30 times a day. I’ve used Jungle Fever before and it’s excellent but its prolonged use stained clothing and leaves you feeling coated in slime.

I was dubious about using Incognito as it doesn’t contain Deet but I’ve been amazed by the results. Initialy after first applying I got a couple of bites that day but thought I would stick with it as I was unsure if I’d covered the area correctly.

I’ve been amazed by the results I’ve barely had a bite all summer and if I have it’s been on those areas where I’m completely unsure as to whether the coverage has been enough, even then the bites have been small ones it’s as though they’ve not penetrated the skin far.

The only time I stopped using it was for one day, I regretted it instantly I got around 20-30 bites again and it took a few days of applications to get back to having none again. I’ve no idea but my general feeling is that it must take time to build some sort of protection so don’t quit it after a day or so.

I’m not 100% certain I would be confident it would work in mosquito infested countries only due to some reviews but as someone who didn’t use a spray before abroad on the beach and regretted it I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try.

It works absolutely fine with suncream, I apply first give it 30 mins and then put the suncream on. It’s been a summer saver for me, as I say I’ve received only a handful in the time I’ve used it but they’ve been in hard to reach areas or on the wrist where I’ve probably washed it off when washing hands etc.

It may not work for everyone and I didn’t think it would for me because I’m a magnet for them but it has, personally try it in England before you make a decision as to whether you want to try it on holiday but just make sure you give it 3 to 4 days of application once a day.

I used this bug spray recently on a trip to the USA and in particular a visit to a national park swamp. I put the spray on about 30 minutes before I got there, it dried without being sticky or smelling stron and it really held it down protecting me from big bites.

I didn’t get one! I recommend this spray 100%!.

I bought this for our 2 week trip to Bali in August. I am very sensitive to bites especially mosquito’s and they swell and go hard, so minimizing the amount of bites is essential for me. I’m also allergic to one of the well known stronger brands so needed to find something else.

We tried this, i bought the shower gel and spray, firstly i would like to say that neither mine or my husband skin had any bad reaction to this shower gel/spray (makes a first). The shower gel isn’t very pleasant smelling when your washing with it but i couldn’t smell it once i rinsed off and I do believe it made all the difference.

On days we forgot to use it, we got a few bites whilst out in the evening. The spray works well, we didn’t get many bites at all for a 2 week stay and this bottle lasted that long! We did get a few bites but this may have been on times we were unable to reapply or when we didn’t apply like bedtime.

I would recommend this product and i think it worked better than the strong deet stuff that usually leaves me with swelling and rashes.

Thank you Off, as your Deep Woods insect repellent works well. This does have a distinctive odor, but it is synonymous with less creepy crawlers being around. As a camper, hiker, and outdoorsman I’m fine with most things.

Yet I don’t want ticks and mosquitoes ruining my parade. The main ingredient in this DEET, absolutely decreases bugs away. My best guess is 8 to 12 hours. Lyme disease is no joke. Who knows what the mosquitoes are giving you.

They love me, and the taste of my blood. Yet with this on, it’s a rare occasion even in swamplands. That alone is a wonderful thing, and I’m grateful for this insect repellent. It’s easy to find due to its bottle color, and fits nicely in a backpack pocket.

By all means bring it on your outdoor adventures!.

As much as I dislike most unnecessary chemicals on my skin, the alternative is worse. I prefer this product to being bitten by mosquitos. Off works very well to keep the biting bugs away. I love being outdoors, but mosquitos and ticks do ruin it.

Using OFF enables me to still enjoy getting outside while keeping the bugs away. I like the new formula because it does not leave the oily residue on your skin. I dropped one star because the smell is hard to handle while applying it, but seriously, if thats the only setback, its so worth it.

Anytime I get mosquito bites, they swell to the size of a baseball. I also attract them like CRAZY. I’ve been using this stuff for YEARS and have NEVER gotten but when i’ve sprayed. The smell is strong but It doesn’t bother me considering how WELL it works! I prefer the pine smell over the smooth & dry.

Does not damage clothes. You will only feel sticky on your skin if you overspray! Amazing amazing product. During the summer, I keep a mini in my purse, a large in my car, 2 around the house, and one at work.
