20 Best Outdoor Tv Antenna Preamplifier (2022 Updated)

In my area we’re challenged to receive much of anything that’s not local. We’re using it with a Clearstream 2 Max indoor/outdoor antenna which picked up great, but we knew more was available. This booster helped clear up whatever prevented being able to receive certain weaker stations.

Of course, nothing can overcome physical obstacles, but this booster has made a difference. And it can be plugged in two ways: either on the wall or on the back of the TV so you don’t have to take up a wall outlet!.

Bought this to solve our weak over the air TV reception issues. Now going onto about 3 months, this unit has improved our reception signals and we now enjoy much improved FREE over the air TV. We’ve gain even more channels than what we found before.

I recommend this to anyone having reception issues.

I was needing to get an amplifier to help with reaching TV channels that would become pixelated in the evening. This device did not help. I returned it. Still looking for something to work effectively.

Like the variable gain control since I have 3 OTA TV antennas in different directions. The gain control allows me to balance out the different signals. 45 different TV channel feeds.

I live in the country and it more than doubled my the distance for my over-the-air antenna

Works but doesn’t increase signal very much. Should have paid extra and bought a channel master.

This pre-amp is working great. I live 75 miles from the transmission towers, so I get signals but they are not very strong. With the pre-amp installed all channels are strong and solid, even in bad weather.

This is my second Winegard pre-amp. The first one lasted about 8 years. I have a 40 foot tower and I had mounted the first pre-amp near the top, just below the antenna. The downside of that is, I have to lower my tower in order to replace it.

This time I tried installing the pre-amp just inside the house where the coax enters (after about 100 feet of coax). That way if and when it goes out I would not have to lower my tower. I was pleased to discover that it works just fine, so I left it there, and so far so good.

I never did check my signal strength with the pre-amp mounted just below my antenna, like the last one was, but the signal strength seems as strong or maybe even a little stronger than before. I’m pleased.

I understand these can’t last forever so maybe being in the house it will last longer than the last one, and no matter what, it will be a LOT easier to replace if and when it dies. From here on out, only time will tell.

This pre-amp DID boost the signals from my antenna to the TV. Before install I logged signal strength on every channel I was receiving. The install was easy, I especially like how the pre-amp case is molded to prevent water from entering and it also shields the co-ax cable connections.

Also all exterior parts except co-ax connections are plastic (the good type, not the flimsy stuff), so it should last a really long time, i. e. no corrosion issues. After install I re-logged every channel.

Every one went from either ‘Good’ to ‘excellent’ or from ‘weak’ to ‘good’. So far we have not had any storms in the area that used to cause severe pixalation and signal loss. But I expect that issue may be in the past.

While I don’t have a signal meter, I estimate the boost is about 12Db. Overall I am VERY happy with this unit.

I attached this to the most powerful combination Winegard antenna available. The stations are about 65 miles away. The antenna is about 35 ft up. TVFOOL list my weakest station at 5. 3 NM(db) which is a pretty strong red zone reading.

I am running 275 ft of rg11 coax to 75 ft of rg6. I have drop outs,and at times channels not even available. I bought Winegard for the reputation of the company, and in times past, a very conservative rating on antennas and amplifiers.

They dropped the ball on this one for their most powerful mast mounted amplifier. If you live in a remote area, and have to run a lot of coax, pass this one up. I am buying a new amplifier with much better specs.

I had the Channel Master 7777 titan but it died in only 9 months. The Chinese bought the antenna and amplifier business and cheapened all of the products of Channel Master.

Goal: Watch as much NY football as we can without cable. We started with a highly rated flat panel indoor antenna, but put it in the wrong window and received 9-channels, all UHF. Did some research on rabbitears.

info and saw that we needed to move the antenna to a south facing window, did that with the help of a Tablo and received 58-channels, all UHF. We needed to get ABC from NYC for the occasional football game broadcast on ABC.

ABC is on Hi-VHF channel-7. Purchased the 4Max and put it outside up high on the south side of the house. That did the trick, 70-channels, all crystal clear including ABC. The towers are in NYC, which is 45-miles away as the crow flies.

I highly recommend this antenna. I also recommend looking into a Tablo Network device and watching Antenna Man YouTube videos. Tyler knows everything and makes it understandable. We now can watch all the major network channels on any TV in the house using Rokus, all without running cables.

We can record the games and they look perfect. Our VZ-Fois bill went from a whopping $280 per month down to $50 per month for just internet. That is a savings of +$2,700 per year (Yikes!). We were on an old plan with 6-boxes and premium channels that we did even know that we had.

No one misses anything as our goal was football. OTA TV looks better than cable and the TVs no longer have unsightly wires and boxes attached to them. It is fun to see reactions when people ask us what that thing is on the side of our house and we tell them that it is a TV antenna.

They think it is a decoration.

Living in Cleveland OH suburbs, I can pick up around 70 stations with a non-amplified indoor antenna; however, I have to move the antenna around for certain channels. I figured an outside antenna would be better.

After extensive research & reading reviews, I decided to try this one. I have an old satellite dish mount that I was going to attach it to & don’t need amplification. I picked it up at Walmart, & after putting it together, attached it to the pole.

I only got a couple more stations, but I don’t have to move it & there is absolutely no pixilation on any of the channels. It also seems like the quality of the picture & sound increased a bit, but not sure if that is from the better reception.

Since I’m using the existing satellite cabling, my whole house can benefit from it. It works like I expected & was easy to install. I really didn’t think it would pull any more stations in as I’m within 25 or so miles from the towers.

I have it on my SE corner of the house since that’s where the dish was & angled it facing East since the towers are NE & SE(Akron). Works great & I would buy again.

We had an antennae (spider like) in the attic (HOA does not accept so we hid it) and that didn’t seem to help to get Chanel 9 and Chanel 4 along with another that attached to the TV that looks like the size of a paper we stuck on the wall thinking it would give it a boost.

It did not. My husband is not here to help me write this review but that is what I think. We bought this and it is so much nicer looking and he placed it outside on a 2×4 on our backyard deck (he got the idea when he saw a reviewers photo) behind the fence (inconspicuously) trying to aim it with minimal trees that we can see at a far distance along with using the Station Map and the menu TV strength signal on our Sony Bravia TV we were able to receive those channels at almost 100%.

If the weather is extremely windy I think those far away trees sways and gets in the way. My husband added a tv cable outlet in our Living Room. He ran a coaxial cable from our garage wall and ran it under our crawl space to the screen vent and into the siding and interior wall.

Can’t give much detail because my husband is the one who has done the job and I just see what he does and what I know. Now, we can watch TV in either rooms. Picture Perfect in every way!.

I’ve been using Channel master DVRs for years. So recently I paid a pro to install me a antenna on my building’s rooftop. So I asked him, btw which antenna are you installing, he said he only uses these Channel Master Stealth antennas, cause he finds them be perform perfectly even at such a small size.

He said these perform as good or better than biggest ones he has seen. so I told him sir you do not have to sell me on Channel Master, I know them well, I have 3 different DVRs from them, I’m a big fan of the brand.

And I’ve this antenna hooked up now for like 3 months already. And I’m in Brooklyn NY so it was now three hardest winter months, it’s been some really bad snow, windy, rainy, e. t. c e. t. c e. t. c.

but the antenna signal has been PERFECT! That is because both the installer and the antenna itself did fantastic! So I’ve round full circle after years, I finally find myself watching tv on my CM DVR+, and now with a CM Stealth antenna on my roof supplying the signal.

and both are performing perfectly! Couldn’t be happier with both. (I prefer the DVR+ over my Stream+). Now I’m thinking if I should get the TiVo edge, it’s on sale for $299 with Lifetime service. idk.

its easily the best antenna available @ 40 bucks. Those plastic/aluminum chinese monstrosities are worthless. FCC Licensed Broadcast Engineer for 30 years so i might actually know something. Unboxing it is a breeze.

you then twist and snap and its assembled. THE 75 OHM MATCHING TRANSFORMER MUST BE USED. The one i received was bad out of the box, one of the wires internally wasn’t connected, i bought a new one and it worked perfect.

Im almost willing to bet the negative reviews either did not use the matching transformer or theirs was bad. I mounted the antenna on its included mast exactly 11 feet off the ground on my garage eave.

I ran brand new coax cable, approx 70 feet to it. I get 66 tv channels. SIXTY SIX! On my previous Chinese Junk 70 dollar Walmart Brand ONN antenna i received 14 channels. and it is twice the size of this little thing.

Full HD on at least 2/3rds the channels. ABSOLUTELY in the NORTHEAST or WNY BUY THIS ANTENNA and keep it over 10 feet but under 20 feet off the ground and you will be totally impressed. aim it in the general direction of your favorite stations and watch the channels roll in when you scan for channels.

Seconds to assemble and 5 mins to mount – youll be watching OTA HDTV in 10 mins.

Was using indoor amplified antenna but wanted to see if outdoor would be better. Mounted on old DISH satellite mount. The supplied mount was exactly the same as the old DISH mount. Used the old cable that runs about 40 feet to the plug inside the house.

Used a smart phone compass app to line it up. I am 36 miles from the transmitters. I get ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS. About 20 station in total. Switched from DISH satellite about 20 years ago to antenna.

The pic quality from antenna is better than from cable. With the digital signal, you either have it or not. It is not like the old analog that got snowy and faded in and out. Sometimes heavy rain will disrupt the digital signal.

All stations are not the same. I think some may have more powerful transmitters. My advice. If you live 40 miles or less from a transmitter, try the cheapest indoor antenna first. You may be surprised in what you can pick up.

Get a long run of cable and try many different positions in your house. Concentrate on the side of your house that faces the antenna you are searching for. If you have aluminum siding, it will probably reduce the signal.

If you get lucky, you may get an indoor antenna to work. If not this antenna may be the next step up that may work. IF you are successful, you have the potiential of saving many thousands of dollars over the years.

I live in an urban environment with multiple HDTV channel options. Unfortunately, the HDTV broadcast towers are located in multiple different geographic locations around the city, so getting consistent, reliable reception has been difficult.

Replacing my old outdoor Terk omnidirectional antenna with the Channel Master omnidirectional antenna solved my reception problems, and boosted the signal strength on the channels as well. I’m impressed with the quality of the antenna: Well made, lightweight, and easy to install on my rooftop 10 foot antenna mast.

I’m impressed with Channel Master. I plan to purchase a deep fringe Channel Master HDTV antenna, signal booster, and distribution amplifier in the future for a vacation home that we own in the mountains, about 90 miles outside the city.

I’m up for the Channel Master reception challenge. higher elevation, with a few mountains that may reflect or null some of the HDTV signals!.

Thank you – Thank you – Thank you. ! I have had 4 RV’s and tried so far 6 antennas. this Winegard RVW395 Sensar will be my last. Way better then a King Jack directional I had. Went from 3 basic local stations with a total of 11 stations that were hard to watch because of the constant freeze frame game to 9 stations for a total of 39 channels.

3 stations from another state. ! In the summer where I stay is in a valley with the worse reception ever. I more than tripled my channels now. If I adjust it a bit I can gain more but start to lose others.

but if i wanted to adjust it each time and tweek it I could get other channels as well. so soooo pleased. ordered off walmart app. delivery free in 4 days and install was simple. Those debating king jack or this – trust me.

Bought this antenna while remodeling our rig. Had old tube style tv. Analog everything. New antenna is still in the box because the new flat-screen found over 50 channels on the old Analog antenna. Can’t really say that it was worth or necessary to buy.

I am very happy with this antenna. Right here in my yard where I typically have poor reception I got 38 channels. We just returned from a campground in New Smyrna Beach Fl where I received 65 channels all crystal clear.

I ended up only changing the antenna and signal booster because there was nothing wrong with my old mast. I’ll just keep the new one as a spare. Very happy with my purchase so far but the real test comes in Sept.

These are great pre-amps IF you make sure you have good voltage at the unit. If your reading is low, make sure you have good RG-6 coax, never RG-59 and I strongly recommend quad 4 RG-6. If the reading is still low, replace the connector.

I never had one of these units fail with good cable and good connectors. These amps greatly increase the number of channels for us.

I purchased this because during certain weather conditions a couple of channels fade in and out during the day but come in great at night. I have an amplified antenna in my shop and don’t have that problem there even though the antenna is lower than the house, 1 story vs 2 story.

After going to the trouble to install this RCA amp which I was led to believe was a quality product I went from 83 channels before to 50 after and got no reception of the cahnnel I was trying to improve at all so I had to climb back up and remove this piece of Chinese made junk to get all my channels back.

This was very easy to install on my antenna which is on my roof 10 ft above my chimmey. I have read the booths don’t fit on the cables this true but I got mine to fit by cutting the bottom of the booths a 1/4 inches up and the cable fit in with no problem.

I took electrical tape and wrap the booths where I cut them. I live in Seattle WA will see how long this last with all the rain we have here because I had bought another preamp that only lasted 4 months before it stop working.

Ok I have gone from 13 channels now to 24 and only getting 25 to 30 percent receiving to now getting 45 on most of them to 70 percent. Like I said the cable will fit the 2 booths that come with it if you just cut the bottom a little bit to spread them open.

The preamp is easy to install. Comes with 2 nylon zip ties. But most nylon ties break down when exposed to UV rays. Tape over the ties after installation. It is powered by a 5 volt DC power inserter.

Most other preamps use 12-15 volts DC to power up. So if yov have a central power system to power, you have to add on a 5volt now. I measure 13db of gain at 200MHz @6Mhz bandwidth. The unit says 20 db is nominal (which may be true at single frequency).

The unit is not watertight. But built weather resistant. There is a ‘weep hole’ to drain any moisture built up in the case. I don’t know if this is a going to be a problem or not. I didn’t disassemble to see if the PC board has any ‘Conformal Coating” on it to prevent water from affecting operation.

I hope. In my area I have 5 stations that are from 76MHz to 510Mhz. It is made in USA. Around 40$ is the lowest price I’ve come across.

This was a purchase that I could have been frustrated with and regretting but turned out to be worth every penny!When I was ready to install this antenna, it did not test correctly. The led on the controller would show red on power on, and then quickly switch and remain yellow.

I sent an emailand tested. Within 12 hours I had a reply back. with an apology for the late reply :The email contained instructions and pictures verifying that I was connecting it correctly without any splitters.

I replied back that the instructions were very clear and simple to follow I had connected everything correctly and according to the instructions. I received another email from support with a set of simple instructions to do 2 simple tests and return pictures of the results.

This was explained as needed to narrow down to the specific component that was the fault for the issue. I did this, which only took me 15 minutes to do and reply with the pictures. My next email explained that the engineers determined from the pictures that it was the cable at fault, and they were going to send me a new cable.

I replied back to that with the fact that I had used 3 different cables in my testing, and that 2 of them were brand new. The next email from Support was that they were going to send me a new antenna instead.

I received the antennae as promised, tested and found it tested correctly. Hands down amazing customer support.

Ive been using an amplified indoor antenna in Va. and have been getting maybe 15 to 20 channels on a clear day. When it rains, the number of channels drops off or freezes on my screen. I took a chance and bought this antenna as it states it can pick up channels up to 150 miles away.

I installed this antenna in my attic ran two coax cables from the output, one thru a 2-way splitter which cuts the power output in half to three televisions. I pointed the antenna in the direction where it would be able to pick up the most signals.

I got so many channels which made my wife happy. When it was raining and storming, I turn on the kitchen tv to see how the signals were in a storm. Channels that I lost or froze during thunderstorms with my old tv antenna came in clear with no freezing on my tv.

I would recommend this antenna and to let everyone know, you can mount it in your attic, and it will work just fine.

I have to admit that I was skeptical at first. The antena is flimsy and very light weight. Installation was straight up kindergarten easy and quick. Box has two video outputs for use with two TVs. Motor turns antenna well and remote to do this works well.

Picture is fine. It does provide HD picture but not sure if it’s 1080p. If your looking to cut cable and expenses then this antenna will get you the local channels and a lot more other channels that I will probably never see.

The pole to place antenna on could be a little longer. Too short in my opinion. For the money it’s just fine.

Using this in NE Ohio to combine an old commercial VHF/UHF antenna with a homemade UHF yagi which is pointed ~90 degrees away. Unit works very well for all but one channel (RF 27). That signal comes from the VHF/UHF antenna, but when the yagi is connected to the JOINtenna, the signal quality drops to near 0 (but the signal strength is still good on that channel).

Have not yet pursued any resolution to this (e. g. changing antenna lead phasing, length of cabling, physical antenna placement, etc. ) since that particular channel isn’t of interest. Overall, pleased with the unit since it eliminates the need to switch back and forth between two antennas.

Using two antennas stacked vertically both pointed at distant favorite station (WETA) in an attempt to minimize multipath aircraft interference. Apparently two inputs ar 180 degrees out of phase. Don’t know if this is designed.

Two 75/300 former seemed to fix.

We live almost 30 miles from the city where our tv stations are located and there is a lot of rolling countryside between us and them. We had previously tried two other outdoor antennas with disappointing results.

Finally, we decided to give the Advantage 45 a try. If this had failed, we were going to throw in the towel and start paying for a streaming service that included local channels (expensive!). But to our surprise, the Advantage 45 received all of the channels we wanted with a solid signal.

Our LG tv gave the channels a 100% signal quality rating. Couldn’t be happier with it.

Channel Master was able to give me all the information on antenna for my area in Kingman. Once order my purchase was at my home in few days. Assemble was straight forward and easy. The Antenna is longer then the China product I purchase year ago that I was having problems with.

So far this Antenna has been working great. I also purchase there pre Amp to help with lower channels signals. For my area after rescan I pick up 57 channels. Everything doing great.

This is the second one I’ve purchased for my home. This one is connected to my television in my bedroom, the first one is being used in my living room. I like the reception, extra long cable and its compact size.

No need to be stuck in a window. I will be buying a third for my craft room.

We cut the Dish in the Master Bedroom and this has worked perfectly. The Reviews sold me on this particular indoor antenna. We are over 80 miles from the nearest city and very rural. We picked up 17 channels right from the start.

I live in a rural area 50 miles from the broadcasting stations. This product provides a crisp picture and good sound. Set the antenna in the window, plug into the antenna-in on the TV; USB to power source (cell phone charger in outlet if your TV doesn’t.

We purchased the Clearstream 2. It is installed on our roof. Works very well. We are getting 33 channels. I purchase the amplifier, maybe I didn’t need it but it gave us more channels and better reception after installed.

Had to call customer service a couple times. I got a real live people each time, thumbs up. Very knowledgeable, friendly and everyone they gave me suggestions it worked just as they said. Very satisfied with Clearstream and would suggest it to anyone wanting to get away from satellite or cable.

The amp mounted to my Clean Stream 4 Max antenna provided a limited number of additional channels but not as much as I had hoped. When the antenna was first installed a few months ago I was overly impressed by the number of new channels I could receive at my northern Michigan Cabin, but after a few weeks of use, the antenna ceased to pick up the same channels for some reason.

nothing at all changed with the setup and install. I decided to purchase the Juice to hopefully improve it back to the level it was originally, however, I still cannot get all the same channels I did by the antenna itself.

The Juice Preamplifier does not pull in more channels and improve better TV reception! The only thing the Juice does is occupy more electrical outlet space. I currently own the Clearstream 4Max antenna that works well without the Juice.

The Clearstream 4Max has enough power alone by itself, with just the direct coaxal cable hookup and nothing else. To get better TV reception, an LTE filter may be helpful, that doesn’t need an electrical source and is FCC recommended.

I grew up most of my life with simple and free OTA TV signal. Just in my college years did I have paid cable/satellite. I have tried in my post college years other OTA antennas, but results have always been mixed with limited success.

My options were rather limited as a renter. Recently I purchased my first home, it was time for a real antenna! I grew up with a large VHF antenna with a rotator on a tower, and was looking for similar quality in an Antenna! However, I was hoping to eliminate any roof penetrations, and mounting the biggest and baddest antenna in my ample but confined roof space available may have been doable, but looked less than ideal.

So I found myself looking at this antenna. The reviews were no joke, this is a GREAT antenna! In todays OTA market and with the digital channel signal shift in the spectrum to nearly 100% UHF, this is all you likely need.

My new market of DFW, pairs perfectly with this Antenna. I live ~30-50+ miles from most of the terrestrial antenna installations, but I am fortunate to have signals in basically flat view of this antenna, where I receive 100+ broadcast channels, including several NextGen 3.

0 broadcasts, of the front. I also have some distant other market signals nearly directly in-line from the rear, so this bi-directional antenna is a huge success, and I don’t require an omni-directional antenna.

I have two of these in my 2nd story attic since I live between two DMA’s. I use them for UHF channels only and can get reliable reception of low power UHF(15 kW) at 60 miles over relatively flat terrain with preamps.

Some channels received at over 90 miles non-tropo. I previously owned two of the original CM 4228 ‘steel’ antennas and believe the 8-bay phased array is the best design. The newer model EXTREME-tenna 80 is a diamond with some flaws.

Being a nerd, I performed three hacks on both antennas. First, I closed the 16 triangles using hobby aluminum tubing(K&S #8104) which allegedly improves signal for the low UHF channels. Second, I removed the harness and moved it 70 mm toward the back using #8 long screws as stand-offs.

Third, I cut about 65 mm from each of the harness long leads on each side. This brings the stock unbalanced harness to a near equal balanced length for all four leads. If one wants to also receive the high VHF channels with this antenna, the harness must be removed and replaced with 300/75 Ohm baluns in phase on each side with equal short coax lengths to a 75-Ohm joiner.

Because we live in “The Lightning Capital of the US,” (central FL), I didn’t want to mount an antenna outside. We are 45 miles from our market’s tower farm and since I was mounting in the attic, I also am using the Channel Master “Amplify Adjustable Gain Preamplifier.

” Through no fault of this antenna, I am not receiving any VHF signals (2-13), because our new house has a metallic radiant barrier on the bottom of the roof decking — the whole attic is shielded. Without getting technical, due to wavelength physics UHF gets through the barrier and VHF does not — at least this far away.

But even with the barrier I am getting excellent UHF reception. I tested reception with no amplifier and with the amplifier’s 2 variable settings. The amp makes a huge difference. I am using the +30dB high setting.

As a retired broadcast engineer, I know that if the metallic barrier was not on our roof decking, I’d be receiving all the metro VHF’s as well. We’re using streaming apps for the “big 3” networks (VHF) that we cannot receive OTA.

TIP: Check Channel Master’s Outlet on Ebay for a preamp if you want that. I bought mine “reconditioned/open box” and saved a bundle.

Installed in the attic of a two story house. The transmitters in my area (Houston) are all located approximately the same distance and direction from me 40 miles away across flat terrain. I pick up 105 channels.

I am pleased with the antenna. I get a enough signal to feed 3 TVs without any amplifiers. Cable can’t beat the quality of the HD picture from an over the air antenna. The built quality of the antenna is good, the assembly video is great.

I had another Channel Master antenna (Ultratenna 60) installed on the roof of our old house in a different city and it worked well for years. I expect many years of good reception from this antenna as well.

This gives good reception in the Laurel Highlands 50 miles east to stations in Pittsburgh. I do not have it mounted high due to HOA restrictions so it’s ground level outdoors on the small patio. We are 2700 feet in elevation so maybe that helps.

We do get some video tearing but I get the local news. The mounting hardware on the back of the antenna very innovative. I have two of these at the resort The only draw back if any is that it does not use a USB power injector but if one goes bat you can get a power injector on the internet.

I had one go bad and I used a USB injector from an old Mohu and it worked. Remember these are power injectors and not an amplifier. The amplifier is in the body of the antenna.

Bought this antenna a while back, and recently installed. Picture was MUCH better than expected, even through some evergreens. Unfortunately the inline amplifier tanked after a week, and neither Best Buy nor Rocketfish were responsive.

Bought an amplifier from Amazon, plugged it in, and it works great. This antenna is definitely worth the money and the effort of providing your own tech support. Bye bye cable guy.

Interesting testing out the Rocketfish RF-ANT50UD Amplified Outdoor TV Antenna. I started with it inside by a window connected to our kitchen TV without the amplifier. It pulled in only 4 channels vs 10-15 with our indoor antenna.

Next I slid it out the window and tied it to our gazebo frame: same 4 channels. Next set it on top of the roof: same 4 channels. Then I plugged in the amplifier and it grabbed 60 channels less about 10 that were not strong enough.

Was it just the amplifier? I hooked the amplifier up to our indoor antenna and it did not help, but it sure helps the outdoor one. So now that I know it will help, I tried it placed on the roof on the other end of the house, this time plugged (with amplifier) into our house cable wiring.

Only 40 channels this time. I don’t know if it’s the location (now behind a tree) or pushing the signal through two splitters and 4-5 coax lines, most 10-15+ years old. I suspect the wiring is the problem.

Anyway, the stations it does get include all our local stations that we wanted and couldn’t get well with 3 different powered and unpowered indoor antennas. I deducted a star because it’s only pulling in 30-40 mile or less range not the higher 40-60 advertised, however, that may be entirely our location.

All were low on the roof, not the peak, and final location is about three feet up on a side eaves behind a tree. Works well enough for us. The more distant stations tend to be a repeat of the locals (a second NBC, etc.
