20 Best Outside Dogs For Families (2022 Updated)

Extremely easy to set up and very attractive. The cedar smell is typically pleasant for humans, but not animals. I have been airing it out for 4 days. In addition, the floor is not square and there is a gap at the front edge.

I purchased the medium-sized house and will be using it for outdoor cats. It will be protected from the elements, and I am confident it will be quite usable. I am able to support the floor from below, therefore I’m not concerned that it will fall.

Considering the price and the small adjustments that were necessary, I would purchase it again. I doubt I would use it for an active dog or one with a tendency to chew.

Recently purchased for a litter enclosure. It is so beautiful! Also utilitarian and good quality. It is better than the marketed litter enclosures because (unlike those enclosures) it is made of real wood, it is water repellent if there are accidents, it won’t warp if I sanitize it with liquid cleaners, it gives more space for same price, it opens from the top for easy cleanup, it folds easily out of the way if need be for cleaning area, moving, etc.

Because I put it on the front porch/catio, it hasn’t been put to the test for withstanding a lot of moisture, and I can’t speak as to that. But it is doing well with cleaner wipe downs. I took off one star because the asphalt roof has tiny particles falling off when I open it up.

but my cats may be clawing it when unattended. Also it does not seem like it would be very warm for dog unless walls & floor were padded. For my purposes, I love it & with some more time putting it to the test, am considering buying 1 or 2 more.

I purchased this as a way to confine my 90lb Labrador Retriever following major leg surgery. I did have the product in the house. The fencing along the base was completely secure; however, within 30 minutes of being left inside the pen, he chewed the zip ties and managed to crawl out through this tiny opening at the bottom! While this is probably a good product, if you have a determined dog like mine, it may not work for you.

I have 2 two 100 lb huskies. They fly and hop fences, they run when I call them, they destroy everything I buy them and have accidents in the house during New Years and the pandemic. They are my best friends and companions.

Because of the crate, I have piece of mind that they are safe. Too many distractions for these monsters. Ambulances constantly, coyotes, other dogs on the run. I am very happy with the crates and very pleased with Chewie.

I bought the kennel with the intention of housing my dog in there for a couple of hour while I had guests over. It made it through for a few hours but it was too easily damaged. The zip ties provided to hold the fencing and shade break easily.

The fence itself is thing and can be bent so easily. These kennels are good for pet owners whose pets won’t try and escape. If you’re a Husky owner like myself, you’ll have to reinforce it by buying steel fencing and actual fencing ties otherwise it’ll only last you for one use.

Not happy! The cover is this cheap silver material and the kennel is low quality and cane with nothing to secure it, which I would have to pirchase separately. There is no way this kennel would be secure enough to keep my larger dog inside.

He could knock it over on his own.

This is exactly what I wanted. It was easy to put together. I have 5 small dogs and they all have plenty of room. I use it for short periods of time when they need to be contained.

You have to put it together and it looked kinda flimsey. But it was easy to snap together and became very strong. I bought it for my Hen Turkey to nest in, and she loves it!

Not well made. Product plastic to thin and flimsy. Dog can bite right through it. Cute I like the way it looks.

Ive only had it for one day, but I was happy with the sale price. It should work well as a warm and cozy place for my indooroutdoor cat.

The floor and wall panels are very thin and no effort was made to smooth manufacturing burrs. The floor design is horrible and I had to use a great deal of duct tape to secure it. The tabs to connect the parts are too small and readily disconnect.

Also, there is no ground clearance at all – I had to elevate it with a skid for snowy weather. The only good thing is final appearance. It looks as good as the ad.

Received it fast from shipper, Some plastic panels were a little bent/warped when they came out of the box and when you are assembling can be a bit challenging but no reason to throw in the towel. I give it 4.

5 out of 5 stars so far overall but I haven’t had a chance to weather test it outside against the heat, rains and winds that we will be experiencing during the tropical rainy season in South Florida.

Look forward to see how well I think it will hold up during this period and also year around. In addition but not as a necessity I plan on adding a new plastic sheet underneath the new elevated level concrete platform and some new comfortable bedding which will be inside covering the plastic flooring base for our priceless family dog.

Also due to the nature of the tabbing in assembling this dog house which could be alot better in my opinion, I decided to glue the two piece plastic flooring base together for more strength something that I didn’t have to do.

I might decide in the future to glue it all together but for now until I complete all the weather testing I will leave it as is. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the instructions a little clearer/easier to read, make the tabs snap together better and easier, add more vents on the sides if possible, replace the twofront pieces of plastic with screening and as a after market item a battery operated fan/heater that you can install to keep your dog cool or warm.

Overall I believe that it is a good value for the money and it needs some basic improvements to be a great dog house. Thanks, Bye.

Easy to move and set up. We live in the south and this was a good house for my daughters dog to stay out of the winter winds while on the front porch. A decent size dog bed fit inside perfectly! It’s light weight and easy to move around.

It is not the most sturdy dog house but it looks great and I got a great deal with free delivery online!.

My pug has food sensitivities. Chicken makes his paws itch so bad he will lick them raw. Beef gives him diarrhea. Most grains turn his ears into a yeasty mess, back with the itchy paws and painful gas.

He is also on the small side for a pug, extra tiny mouth with an underbite. This means he needs very small sized kibble and it has been hard to find one that is grain free and doesn’t contain chicken or beef.

There are a few out there and we have tried them but he gained weight despite us feeding him the appropriate amount, and he was always feeling hungry between meals. Taste of the Wild Appalachian Valley Small Breed Grain-Free Dry Dog Food has been a terrific kibble for my little guy.

He enjoys his meals, he is a picky eater but loves this food. The kibble is small enough for him and he doesn’t struggle eating it. He has not had any allergic reactions and no significant weight gain.

He is tiny so if he gains just a pound it is really noticeable. He always gains some winter weight due to not having the full yard to run around in and it being too cold to spend as much time outside as he does in the summer months.

But this winter he hasn’t gained at all. He is also not begging for food all day long. With the other foods he would ask for more food immediately after eating. Now he only sits by his bowl if it is dinner time and we are in the kitchen.

His eyes are especially bright and moist now, pugs can suffer with dry eyes and he has in the past but that has cleared up now. His fur is more dense than usual, nice and healthy looking. Areas that had thinned out over the years are now full.

His skin still gets a little dry but not as bad as before, I will look into adding a supplement to help with that. I also love that it comes in large sized bags. A lot of the small breed foods are only sold in smaller bags.

After 9 months of fighting our puppy with eating, we finally changed from Purina Pro Plan to Taste of the Wild. I’ve never written a review for dog food before because our puppy just absolutely hated any kibble or toppers we would give him.

Eventually we just decided to change brands and this formula was the one we chose. Immediately our puppy loved it! He’s been eating it for over 2 months. No fighting! No adding toppers! He eats it dry and he seems to love it! His poops have been great and he doesn’t seem to have any stomach issues.

This food has been a life saver for us.

worth the money? not really. “requires no tools to assemble” well for the most part that is correct, however, there is a metal type frame for the door where you have to put two (2) screws in the bottom part of the framing.

which requires a screw driver. Putting it together was not too bad, took about 30 min roughly. It came with picture instructions which were sort of clear yet a little confusing but manageable. (i guess).

write up states ‘side panel that opens into a large porch’ which lead me to believe that you just twist the lock and fold down that panel. That is NOT what you do, you twist the lock to open and PULL OUT the panel, then turn it upside down and lay it out for the PORCH portion.

For the money i feel that the DOOR FLAP should have BEEN INCLUDED! in the FAQ states “Additional accessories may be purchased from the manufacturer’s site” good luck on that one. could not find the flap there.

so no flap. I used towels and blanket for the bottom instead of trying to purchase something that would fit for comfort. Bought this for outdoor stray kitties, to keep them warm and dry for this winter.

Since i just put it up outside an hour ago, not sure if they will use it, but if i am able to post an update i will. I personally don’t think it’s worth the money. if the price was lower then yes. would i recommend it? maybe.

depends on your personal application and how much you want to spend. would I buy this again. I’d think twice before getting another AT THIS PRICE.

This house was relatively easy to assemble. The only hard part was trying to fit the “chew guard” (presumably for dogs, as this is technically a dog kennel/house). There are no holes for where the screws anchor in the plastic, so we had to drill them.

We couldn’t just apply enough pressure with the screwdriver to get them through. It will be interesting to see whether this house “stays put” during some of our high winds, but it seems sturdy enough and will surely provide shelter from the rain.

The doorway opening is large enough that our feral and stray cats are comfortable going inside to explore. No one has “claimed” it yet, but these are early days, and this house is “washable” (unlike our other wooden structure which, once marked, tends to carry the scent in perpetuity).

All in all, a great solution for our outdoor moggies.

I got this for my husky he loves to be outside in the snow. I got this over other wooden ones because many reviews for the wood ones stated there was air that would come in between the wooden slats and would not stand up as well to Buffalo winters.

I got this one because i love the side “porch door” to leave open/down for entry – he is too big to go through the regular door so we put plastic over it for a window. put a big pillow inside it and he loves it! Never wants to come in now lol.

Only issue is that the interior dimensions are smaller than it says online (states the outer dimensions) so was smaller than i wanted but he still likes it. One of the corner pieces came cracked as well but did not really affect it as i put pillow down.

It is nice and sturdy otherwise and does not leak. A bit pricey but very easy to assemble which is another reason we got thsi one over wood ones. it is cute!.

Well K9Cuisine, I am impressed. I placed my order on Friday and FedEx delivered it on Sunday and I live in Texas whisk is half the country away from ya’ll in distance. We learned about Fromm from the obedience trainer we work with to train our Rottie.

His name is “Rocky”. The last 2 orders I have placed with K9, Rocky has had his nose planted on the box when Fed Ex delivered it. He knows it is good for him and he loves his Fromm dog food. Virtually everyday, during their neighborhood walk, my wife gets compliments about Rocky’s beautiful shiny coat and his bright clear eyes.

Initially I started with the “GOLD” version of the Fromm dry dog food. Our dog loves Fromm so much, that this time I have ordered several cases of Fromm “wet” dog food. it also arrived today and once again, Rocky’s nose was focused on that box of Fromm wet dog food.

I like Fromm because it is recommended by professional dog handlers and it is “fairly” priced. Thank you K9Cuisine for providing such “stellar” service and such fair prices. We are very pleased and Rocky is also.

This dry kibble is an excellent food for my 3 pure bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as well as my Australian Cattle Dog. The Cavaliers get a much smaller amount at each meal than the ACD. All dogs get added fresh vegetables and sometimes meat as well… if it is available for them that day.

All have been eating Fromm’s kibble for many years. The ACD is 9, she has had it for 8+ years. She is very healthy. Vet loves her coat and teeth, as well as her overall health. The Cavaliers are almost 5 and under 3 years old.

They too are very healthy. Good food, proper amount of exercise and playtime, as well as free time to relax keeps them in great shape. You will pay a bit more for the Fromm’s dry food. But the overall health benefits of it are undeniable.

I personally, would rather spend the money on quality food, and not on vet bills for unhealthy dogs. This just makes sense to me. Try it…. It can improve or maintain the health of your dogs as well.

My breeder weaned my new Standard Dachshund puppy on this food so I ordered a big bag of it. Theo is in love with it but not only that but if I mix in a few with my miniature dachshunds kibble she gobbles it all up! She hasn’t eaten strictly kibble for the past year due to being 15 years old, having tooth abscesses and just being 15 and demanding whatever the heck she wants! Plus before I lost my other girl in May of 2020 and my boy on the 1st of February 2021(both mini dachshunds and both a little under and a little over, respectively, 13 and a half years old) they were having issues with eating enough or at all so they got whatever garbage food they wanted, something I never allowed in their lives but at that point making sure they ate enough calories and kept their weight steady was more important than the garbage that was in the foods.

but because they got garbage Kayla also wanted garbage. Now that it’s just Kayla and new baby Theo (who only eats this kibble) she will go and snatch up all of his kibbles that she can due to her being both an Alpha female and a jerk.

but it works in my favor being I no longer have to beg her to eat nor spoon feed her! Theodore is even more in love with this kibble, he doesn’t care about ANY dog cookies, he’s tried atleast 20 kinds from different brands, flavors, hard or soft, etc and he couldn’t care less but this food? He will do ANYTHING for it! I now portion out his daily food allowance in 3 small containers and if he wants them he has to earn them in our training sessions that I do 4-6 times a day because he’s both a demonpuppy and smart as all heck which makes him a nightmare combo! But thankfully he will do anything for this food so his puppy bootcamp is working really well so far! I don’t know what’s in this stuff but I affectionately call it “puppy crack” because he can’t get enough and even my old lady loves it! 10/10 would recommend it!.

The price was great. It’s lightweight and doesn’t seem terribly sturdy but for the price it’s worth having. It was easy to assemble even without instructions. The roof pieces were tricky but they will fit if you’re patient.

It looks nice sitting outside and I think it’ll be perfect for summer time. This definitely won’t keep your pets warm in the winter without adding layers of insulation though. I just put it together today so I’m not sure yet how it’ll hold up in the rain.

My dog is a 40lb basset/beagle mix and it’s just the right size for him.

The quality of this dog house is terrible. The plastic material is not durable, guaranteed to blow away easily with a high wind gust. I would not recommend this to care for anyones pups dogs or any pet if you will.

The phone advertises a large breed dog half in and half out but in reality that dog barely fits comfortably! I’m stating what’s clear in my eyes and as I built the house: REALITY SET in !.

This a a simple, lightweight plastic doghouse that snaps together. I am using it for feral cats. It is big, and roomy inside. Also does not seem to leak during rain storms. Very happy with it. Would be fine for small to medium dog, maybe up to 35 lbs.

My 2 Pitbulls seem to enjoy this food. The one, my problem child, with skin issues, and allergies, along with hypothyroidism, and seizures, has had major improvements to his skin with this food. Many of the places with hair loss, have completely been restored! The only downfall, for me personally is that my boys, about age 11, seem to enjoy the food a little too much and over eat! Mainly, my problem child, although this could be due to other medical issues, and or the fact that they have always been allowed to eat freely.

When switching to this food, I just assumed free feeding wouldn’t be any different from other foods they have tried. But I think maybe the high protein in the food might just be a little too much compared to thier activity level.

The ingredients are of good quality. I like that is grain free, no artificial flavors or preservatives, no chicken by-product, the ingredients are what lead me to select this brand the first place. The weight gain is the only reason for my 4 star rating.

But other then that this food has been great and ive seen improvement. I wish it was available more often at my local tractor supply store.

Our 2. 5 yr old German Shepherd is extremely picky, always had to mix wet food in but he’ll eat this dry and it has helped his skin alot! Even the inside of his ears use to be red/pink, not anymore. He’d chew at his paws and his belly was red.

All better now. German Shepherds seem to have extremely sensitive skin (we’ve owned 2 others, it was a learning experience) and allergies to grains, especially corn and almost every dog food has corn.

Like I said he loves the taste and it’s great for his skin. He did still have some thick scales on his back but we put Vetrinary Formula clinical care spray on it and I rubbed/scratched it into his skin I haven’t heard him digging or scratching at all since.

Seems very comfortable. Of course obviously the best flea and tick meds last week. He’s extremely happy, full of energy. I know the food is expensive but it is worth it!.

I’m lab doggie mamma over 20 yrs. They’re our kids (for real we couldn’t have human children). We have 3 labs, 7 yrs (2) and one 3 yrs. They’ve been on Purina Sport their entire lives. One had recent medical event.

It triggered me to reconsider kibble. I’m an extremely thorough researcher on any issue religiously. This event prompted me to really dive into kibble which I had not done in bout 7 yrs. I spent hours and hours learning more about dog food than I care to admit.

I settled on Blue Buffalo Wilderness healthy weight large breed. Holy macaroni! All 3 went absolutely nutso for it!! I transitioned w old food for 12 days (not necessary but I had enough to do so). They’ve always been good eaters, but this was/is insane! They go bonkers and gobble up in nano sec!! Their poops r healthiest I’ve ever seen and as regular as regular could possibly be! Our oldest had put on few lbs.

After 2 weeks there was remarkable weight improvement in hips and belly – AMAZING! One of girls has constipation issue. She takes daily probiotic. This immediately made remarkable improvement for her bowels.

I’m super impressed! If you haven’t done kibble research or considered change in recent yrs, look no further and make change! I can save u time energy n research efforts! This is IT! Just do it!.

I was in search of a kibble that isn’t full of processed junk and was so happy when I found out that Farmina has food for MINI SENIORS. I refuse to feed my pets anything where the first 3-5 ingredients isn’t a protein (no corn, by-product, flavor, etc).

I was also happy to see herring and egg listed in the ingredients. This food doesn’t smell the best, but I believe that’s how you know the ingredients are REAL. I got this for my 13 y/o Miniature Pinscher.

You can tell she’s a senior and is slowly approaching her years (she can no longer jump onto the sofa and is going blind/deaf), but this food has gave her energy again!! She’s more alert and you can tell she’s happier than before.

I highly recommend this brand if you’re not able to go with the raw/fresh route.

My 13 yr. old rescue Beagle girl, Macie, is a bit particular as in really, really picky regarding her food. She LOVES Farmina of which I ordered a small amount just to try. It seems to be quite nutritious, and I will speak to my Vet to see if we can continue to use this brand.

instructions are not great. I found a video online instead. Instructions say to hand tighten, but this will not work for larger dogs. when larger dogs jump on the pen it loosens the brackets, which then slide to the bottom of the cage.

Even after really tightening the brackets that secure the panels together, they still become loose after just a few days. I am going to try to come up with something to help keep this from happening, but I shouldn’t have to.

I have two German Shepherd in this pen to kennel them inside the house. One is 2 years old and medium sized for her breed. The other one is a 4 month old puppy. I have read that the canopy is crap for outside weather but I use this pen inside.

I wouldn’t even try using the canopy outside here as the winds are very strong and I lost a large picnic table when it was blown away. All in all, it works for my purpose to kennel train into holding their urine longer which is why it didn’t get 1 star.

It probably works perfectly for very small dogs, but any weight from a medium to large size dog on the panels will cause the brackets to loosen quickly. You will need to check the wing nuts on the connector brackets daily for medium to large sized dogs! I would recommend this item only for very small dogs.

I would also recommend adding a dig proof mesh at the bottom if your dog is a digger and you plan to use this pen outside. If I ever figure out how to keep the panels from becoming loose from the wing nuts unscrewing and possibly being a dangerous situation, then I might give this pen better rating.

I believe in brutal honesty and you have my honest review before considering a purchase. I think there are sturdier pens out there for medium to large breed dogs, consider finding one even if it costs more money.

Got this for a large dog to recover from surgery. Not as strong as a large welded wire portable kennel. It does allow more room to stretch out than the large portable kennel. If your animal needs room to move around, this may be a good kennel.

Not super sturdy. Walls will moved out since they are connected with brackets (two each panel). May not be escape proof. No attached floor. Fitted tarp cover is nice. There are no cheap kennels out there.

This one was priced okay and shipped free to my door. It was packaged well.

This is a great kennel for our German Shorthairs for when we are gone during the day, but my German Shepherd has chewed through the door wire and escaped. It worked for a short while for her, but now it’s toast.

Trying to get a replacement door and salvage the rest of the cage for the Shorthairs. The shepherd is going to need something much stronger. We screwed two sides of this to our garage wall to prevent the big dog from tipping it over.

Canidae was originally recommended by our first dog’s breeder 17 years ago as a top choice of dog food to use. She raised AKC Austrailian Shepherds and well known in our area as a top show dog breeder.

She fed her own dogs with the All Life Stages. Our Austrailian Shepherd lived to be just over 14. She was absolutely wonderful, 100% healthy, energetic, intellegent, a beautiful coat and never an upset stomach.

Much of her health, other than an active lifestyle, came down to great nutrition. Our newest Aussie is also being fed with Canidae and when we ran low and tried a new substitute of a popular brand, she snubbed it.

She could not wait to scarf down what she was missing. So clearly the taste is there. It’s a great brand, good value and even better for those who have multiple dogs and those with dogs of differing ages.

We live on family acreage which includes another Shepherd and she is also on Canidae. Makes it easy.

So I’ve been using this brand since 2012. I was initially attracted that they used only human grade ingredients. This has since changed. They no longer advertise that, and have a whole blog entry on their site about how using human grade ingredients isn’t that important.

Recently noticed my pets’ coats are not as shiny. Came on here and read reviews, saw the reviews about food dust etc. Wow! I’ve noticed the food dust too. So I wrote Canidae and told them that we are all noticing a formula shift.

I advised them they should improve the quality of the food and that I am personally willing to pay MORE for a higher quality food so please start using human grade ingredients and mark the price up a bit if needed.

Got a formulaic “sorry your pet is sick” copy and paste customer service response. Wow, Canidae — is your dog food making so many animals sick you just assume that’s what every message says? That’s.

This dog food is fantastic. WHolesome ingredients, no rubbish fillers, lots of quality supplements including probiotics and good healthy main ingredients. I never notice any problems with the dogs when they are fed this stuff like I with many others (eg skin, ears allergies) and it’s already a reasonable price when bought in bulk but I always manage to be able to get it on special of some kind to make it even more affordable.

I willingly pay extra for my dogs health anyway. I highly recommend it. The main reason it doesnt get 5 stars is that it does have a few too many carbs and its not Aussie made. But it has no wheat & peas are not a main ingredient so those are more important to me.

Richard Wolters has a great grip on what it takes to train dogs. My Labrador retriever was hunting ducks perfectly at 10 mo old. I used his book Water Dog for that training.

This author is writing about the best simple training method for your family dog. It works. Its presented in a simple concise way. You will benefit from this book when your pup turns out to be a well mannered happy family dog.

So, the house comes in 2 separate boxes. I’m not sure if it’s just the carriers in my area or if it’s common, but I only got my first box on the delivery day. Haven’t gotten the second one quite yet.

I opened up the first box and there are hundreds of thousands of little styrofoam beads in the box and stuck to the panels and pouring out of the bottom panel. Assuming this is the insulation. So I am missing one of the plugs that keeps the insulation inside the bottom panel I guess.

My shoes are now covered in styrofoam beads and so is part of my yard.

This is the most amazing dog house. It is easy to put together, the instructions were great. It keeps the pups dry and they feel so secure that they even sleep better. It did take a couple days for them to learn how to get in and out of it, but they love it now that they get it.

It is huge inside and out 2 medium-size girls are able to share one house! We are very pleased with the Dog Palace.

Nice dog house, and should be plenty warm this winter. Doesn’t go together quite as easy as is presented in the YouTube video’s hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but finished product is solid. Chewy gets 5 stars.

Love the locations! Love the high quality brands you carry, like my dog’s: Open Farm. However, I find that a lot of flavors of their freeze dried food and wet stews are out of stock at multiple locations regularly.

I’ve called ahead to find a flavor because the online store says it in stock at a particular location. When I call, an associate often says it’s out of stock and the website just doesn’t reflect inventory accurately.

In my opinion, that renders the websites’ inventory useless. It makes it hard for me to find food in a pinch. I don’t want to have to go back to ordering directly from the company online. I’d like to be able to buy this food in stores, but big retailers like Petsmart and Petco don’t carry this brand.

It has clearly gained more popularity over the years so I think you guys should stock more of the flavors that sell out so often. If you regularly had my dogs food in stock, I would be a more regular customer.

However, I understand that things like this can be out of your control which is why I still think you deserve a pretty high rating. I otherwise love everything I’ve purchased from your store and so does my dog.

I recently adopted a 10. 5 year old hound who had been extremely malnourished for years. He came to us around 10-15lbs underweight and we needed to get weight back on him quickly. To make things a little more difficult, we found out (the hard way) he had a chicken allergy and he was also extremely picky about his food.

Thank god for Open Farm. Their single-source protein choices made it so much easier to find out what he liked, and to make sure we weren’t giving him chicken. For three months we have been feeding him the turkey ancient grains kibble mixed with the new venison recipe, topped with the beef freeze dried raw (his favorite), some of the wet food beef stew, and the bone broth.

He has gained 11lbs back, he has strength in his legs again, and his fur is soft and shiny. I can’t believe this dog is a senior with how healthy and energetic he is again. I am so glad our local pet store had Open Farm.

These are probably the best meals he has ever had in his life.

I just opened my Small size Precision Pet Extreme Log Cabin doghouse today to assemble. It looks like it will assemble pretty well, although one of the sides is 3/16″ out of square. Because the panels are firmly glued and screwed together it will require some adjustment/trimming to assemble correctly instead of attempting to break the glue joints and true it up.

Obviously a rush job by the factory in Wuhan. The roof shingles do appear to be very well sealed and bonded together, however there are a few spots on the edges of the composition shingles on the roof where bare wood can be seen at the edges, which would allow water to get into the roof frame, so those spots will have to be sealed.

The three piece floor has 1/8″ gaps between the slats, so if you want the animal occupying the box to be comfortable when it is cold and windy, you will have to do some modification to the floor, which I plan on doing.

The statement that the box is waterproof and weather resistant is a stretch. The stain/preservative used on all of the wood surface is so thin that pouring any water at all on the wood surface disappears as the wood instantly absorbs it.

I will not put the box in service until at least 2 coats of a high quality exterior grade paint/stain is applied. If you try and use this box without putting a proper preservative coat on it, you might get one year of use out of it before it rots or suffers UV damage and cracks and splits.

This doghouse is being re-purposed by me to be a Barn Owl nest box; the dimensions are almost perfect and as soon as I saw it I realized that it could be used for quick installation during the brief annual window between December to January during which Barn Owls are NOT in their box.

All I really have to do is put an insert into the door to reduce the opening size, add a perch/balcony outside the opening, fix the floor, and of course, properly seal the wood so that it will last more than one season.

My primary reason for paying the extra money for the “EXTREME” model was the feature description that said: Its stainless steel hardware also adds to its sturdiness. THIS IS A LIE! THE HARDWARE SUPPLIED IS NOT STAINLESS STEEL, so this is my major gripe.

My guess is that China figures that most Americans can’t tell the difference between stainless and non-stainless steel. I’m a retired engineer, and you can almost always identify stainless/non-stainless steel by its color and appearance, although the surefire test is with a magnet.

Regular steel will be strongly attracted by a magnet, if it is stainless steel, you might get a very slight attraction. This stuff is definitely normal steel with maybe a thin coat of zinc – not stainless steel.

Weight Correction: Specifications say 25. 6 pounds (Actual Weight = 31. 7 pounds; 44% of that is the roof).

I bought this even though there were so many bad reviews. I would say it was a waste of time to buy this product. It arrived already cracked on multiple pieces. It really is fragile, and would have not supported my dogs weight.

I’m glad it came cracked because I wouldn’t have believed that they actually make such poor quality products for dogs. I wanted to give this product a chance and I did try by purchasing it. In the end all reviews were proved right, poor quality materials.

I was able to take measurements and built my own replica with sturdier material rather than add material to this product to better support it. I ended up spending a bit less on the sturdier material.

So I am satisfied that this product arrived damage and I did not lose money on it because I was able to return it for a refund.

there was some minor splitting in the roof trim on one side however we put it together anyway as it was minimal. within a couple days it split alot more and the other side of the roof started splitting as well.

the roof panels are now looking warped and lifted due to this issue! is there anyway to get a roof replacement or partial refund???.

To be perfectly honest, my expectations were low on this, based on the price and country of origin. But I must say its far better than expected. It’s very sturdy for a plastic doghouse. It is lightweight so the stakes to help hold it down, or maybe turn it upside down and add concrete to the underside to keep it from blowing away.

For me I wanted it lightweight so I can move it around easily to provide shade near me when I’m working outside. It does not come with a door or flap but I don’t need either so not my problem. The directions are just drawn pictures no words and easy to follow as long as you’re not brain dead.

It is a good size for my pup, she’s about 15lbs and will probably only be around 25lbs when fully grown. Also this was way cheaper and easier than building one from scratch.

Doghouse is a nice size and is cute. The parts seemed bowed at first, but everything shored up with a little push just before attaching with screws. My 14 yr old granddaughter put it together with little instruction from me.

The house is lightweight, and I am glad for that since we’ve not decided where exactly we want to put the house. Once we decide that, we will use the provided stakes to secure to the ground. The house does have vents in the front and the back for circulation.

I bought this for shade from the sun for my little dog, who likes to hang out outside. I didn’t realize there is zero ventilation in it whatsoever. He refused to go in and then I realized the thing is like an oven.

It’s worse than a hot car. Definitely Not for use in hot or even warmer temps. Sending it back.

“Puppy” is a design classic for the children’s room. Colourful, pleasant to the touch (it feels great because the surface of the material is somewhat “non-slip”) and without sharp edges or poorly processed seams on the plastic, which could lead to injuries.

However, some caution is required – if you lean out sitting too far over the head of the dog, the latter will gladly tip over the front.

Puppy, a Finnish design icon – does not only look good in the children’s room. Otherwise it is also a cool design accessory. My little dog is in the living room. Very nice when you’re into Scandinavian design.
