20 Best Oven Mitts 500 Degrees (2022 Updated)

The silicon makes them good for picking up glass containers because it grips sticky things. I find the mitts mostly a pain because they don’t slide over things. You end up pushing the thing you are trying to pick up away, making it difficult to pick up.

Once you do manage to pick up let’s say a cookie sheet , it’s impossible to set it down because it won’t slide out of your grip. The silicon also makes them quite stiff and difficult to use.

Crazy but true, most oven mitts aren’t rated very high for heat. Most being around 300-350, which doesn’t keep you protected from most jobs in the kitchen. Fortunately, this one does. Rated at 500 degrees.

But better still, it has gripping ridges, which not only help you hold on to things, it also doubles as a jar opener. #lifehack My only nit keeping it from 5 stars is the aesthetic. It’s not ugly per se, but it’s not exactly great looking either.

I had been looking everywhere for new oven mitts. The ones we have don’t work. You take something out of the oven at 325 and the heat went right through the old mitts. Then I get these and they actually work.

A pot that was in a 500 degree oven for 45 minutes. I take it out and feel nothing. Not that I was holding them for hours to test it out, but from the oven to my counter they worked. Thank goodness because, man was it a chore to find some that actually did.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!.

These oven mitts worked for about 3 months. The first detail that failed was the fabric loop that we used to hang them. But that was ok because the tag on the end also has a magnet which we used to hang them from our stainless steel tables.

But then the rubber material started to erode at the wear points (thumb, index finger) and soon our bakers were burning their fingers through the mitts. We keep them around because now they are useful for placing under sheet pans of french macarons to soften the sound of banging the pans against our work benches.

We often wait about 1 month or 2 months before writing a review, we have had two pair of these gloves for daily use and they performed excellently. They were very comfortable and the magnet on the tag was crucial in our small commercial kitchen.

However, after only 2. 5 months of use the magnet fell out and the fold between the thumb and fingers wore down to expose the skin of the chefs. I would give this product less stars if it hadn’t been amazing while it was intact, but the 3 stars is as high as i can go considering that two pairs did not last 3 months.

We needed a heavy duty but easy to use oven mitt. The one is great especially since it has a magnet to hang off the stove since we didn’t have a good place to store it. The padding is very thick to keep you protected and yet its easy to control for gripping with a lot of flexibility.

The magnet is strong enough to hold up in a vertical position. However if you hang it on a stove door, as u open the door and the mitt hangs away from the door, it might fall off so we prefer to hang it on the range hood instead which works perfectly.

I love these!! I got them to be able to safely lift out the hot inner bowl from my Ninja Foodie & hot pads were too bulky. Make sure you put all 4 fingers inside – I accidentally burned my pinky because I initially only used them w/ my middle 3 finger inside – lesson learned!! Very heat resistant!! They are also very useful at pulling out the the hot oven rack when needed to stir something inside or to lift off a hot lid.

these provide only fingertip protection, but that is perfect in many situations. I use a crock pot frequently and these are perfect for lifting out the hot ‘crock’. Also perfect for pulling out a hot oven rack, or sliding a hot dish on the oven rack.

they are very easy to slip on – they stand up on the tips, but even when laying on the side they are quick, simple, and easy to slip into without needing the other hand (which is usually occupied). when i’m in a hurry because something needed attention 5 minutes ago, i can slip one on each hand simultaneously taking practically no time at all.

(assuming they are laying right there). they are not necessarily the best for ‘carrying’, but they are certainly indispensable in my kitchen.

Solid oven mit for home use. The rubber grip is great so hot pans don’t slip out of your hands when you don’t have a perfect grip on them. I’ve even left it on a hot stove burner for 20 seconds (on accident!) and it didn’t burn thru or leave much of a mark at all.

They only drawback is that they are thick which can make picking up small items or pans with small handles a bit tougher, but not much you can do if you want to use at high temps.

Great coverage and excellent heat resistance/insulation. We’ve bought a bunch of these, and they have proven to be very durable. For items that have edges that are difficult to grip, we might still default to kitchen towels as these gloves are really thick and it can be hard to grasp smaller items (for example, small ramekins).

I would have to guess that these are nicely sized for most hands, and do serve their purpose. The reason for 3 of 5 stars, it that the pair we received are different shades of the brown, with one having more green tones to it.

They seem of good quality, but only time will tell. I would recommend it, at the price, but disappointed in the color quality.

I wasnt sure about these oven mitts when I pulled them out of the package because theyre thin but I was pleasantly surprised. They hold up against any kind of heat and dish out of the oven. And they are long so theres protection against any burns on my upper arms.

I’ve never had potholders with designs; this is my first set. They are square in shape and hold the bottom of my pans and pots nicely. The potholders themselves are thick in material, and I can be assured that the pots and pans won’t touch the counter or table underneath them.

The black and white plaid material is adorable, and I love to look at them when they’re not in use. I’m now looking for oven-mits and kitchen towels with designs to match these potholders. These potholders are a eye-catching addition to my kitchen, and they’re super useful too!.

I really like these oven mitts, they are large enough to fit my husbands hands comfortably without being tight but not so huge that I can’t grab things well when I use them. They go up my forearm a good ways, something that I require because I tend to not pay attention and bump my arm off the side of the over while pulling things out.

They’re nice and thick so they are perfect for pulling out heavier things that you need to move slower while moving. Like a roasting pan or a cast iron skillet. The heat doesn’t come through like some I’ve used in the past.

Over all they’re very nice oven mitts.

The Tri-color check oven mitts are good perfect for everyone! The colors are a neutral color and can fit any kitchen decor. They are great thick mitts that protect my hands every time I take something hot out the of the oven- no running to drop the item because the mitts are too thin.

These are PERFECT!! We have spilled a few things on them while cooking and just throw them in the washing machine- they come out good as new and CLEAN. These mitts are used daily and still in great shape- very durable.

This potholder is so simple in its design, and yet so brilliant at the same time! Blows my mind! I’ll never go back to using two potholders again, now my holiday / seasonal potholders will remain clean and unused, they will be just decorations as intended.

Love this oven mitt glove, because it doesn’t slip like a potholder, or drop. Your hands are covered entirely, preventing any accidental burns. The generous length fits around even the largest pan. The quilted padding prevents any burning, yet it is flexible.

So much easier to pick up hot casseroles and cookie sheets with these double mitts. Choice of color for folks to whom that’s important! Needs more room than a hook inside the cupboard, but there are workarounds–see photo!.

I gave two stars because they are excellent at heat resistant. However, they are way too thick and bulky making it difficult to grasp pan because the mitt doesn’t bend or flex easily with your fingers.

I have to pull the pan with the edge of the mitt while the other hand is at the bottom of the pan trying to balance enough to pull the pan out of the oven. The silicon strips on the mitts are basically of no use since you aren’t able to hold the pan properly.

The mitts are an odd fit because the hand/fingers area are not only bulky/stiff but too loose causing your fingers to slip out of place when grasping and the wrist area is a little too snug. This might be a good mitt for some with long thick fingers and a small wrist.

Doesn’t work for me.

I purchased these mitts after researching for the best oven mitts. I was so tried of getting burned all the time, or almost dropping my hot pans, with old or cheap mitts. So far they seem to protect my hands better than any other mitt I’ve ever bought.

The one size suites my hands well, and also work for my mom who has smaller hands, and my husband who has much larger hands than me. The only snag is getting use to the silicone strips on the mitts, put there for better traction on picking up pans.

Sometimes it helps grip the pan better, but sometimes it gets stuck on the pan, which is a little bit of a hassle, especially if I’m using multiple pans in the oven. Other than that, I still would prefer these over any other mitt.

They’re also at a very reasonable cost too!.

I really liked these mitts. They are by far the best I have purchased. They are heavily insulated and should with stand high heat as indicated. Good value for the price and delivered in a timely manner.

I ordered 3 different oven mitts & 2 cards. Love every item! They are all gifts and I’ve only given one of them away so far, but she loved it. I will definitely buy more items in the future. Finny & good quality.

To counter the one star review from the person with no sense of humor, I bought this mitt for my hubby for Christmas who will appreciate the humor. He grills a lot for the family. I was actually surprised it’s very well made!.

I bought the “I’ll Feed All You *******!” Oven mitt for our son-in-law for Christmas and he loved it. He quickly took a picture of it and sent it to everyone in their camping crew and they all thought it was the PERFECT gift! I highly suggest it for the person who is the one always doing the cooking/grilling in the group.

I really wanted this to work they’re too long…. the gloves go to high up on my arm preventing me from getting my hands completely into the thumb holes. I turned the gloves inside out trying to get a better grip but the gloves just slide down my hand.

I gave them five stars because the gloves are well made with the quilted inside material but they’re NOT “one size fits all”. My son has bigger hands so he had trouble even getting his hand in one glove.

I’m really disappointed completely.

I am a GM of a busy restaurant and these are the best gloves I can find. All my employees love them and always make me buy these ones over any others. The grip is nice, it protects your hands/arms very well, they are flexible, and they take a while to get worn down.

I don’t understand why people complain about these because they are some of the best.

Wow These truly are AMAZING. I was a little skeptical at first about how well these might be insulated but I decided to give them a try with a pan that I have that has a broken handle. I turned the burner off and picked the pan up with these and no heat I literally felt nothing.

There was no damage to the mitts exterior either. I am very impressed. These are also very easy to clean off if you get anything on them as well.

I recently ordered, on the website, a pair of the blue mitts. When they came, I put them in a drawer. After a couple weeks I took them out to use them and they had a terrible moldy smell. I’ve kept them out, on the counter, hoping a ordor would go away.

I even smelled the drawer they were in to see if they maybe picked up an order from it. I tried them one time but I can’t get pass the strong smell. My next step is to go into the store and smell the ones there.

Even though they worked well, I probably won’t keep them if they all smell like that.

They are oven gloves called OVE, get it? A play on the word Oven. Slick eh? You wear these when taking hot stuff from, where? right the oven. I am sure they would work when using a BBQ too. They work pretty well, but don’t get hot oil or grease on them.

Burns are never a good idea.

At first it worked quite well, even though you had to be careful not to hold anything too long as it heats up fast. But after a few months they only hold the heat out for a shorter and shorter time. Now only seconds.

I have had to drop a roast pan into the sink as the heat flare up was just to quick. No contact number for the company and had no bill as they were a gift.

Different kind of oven mit. Takes some getting use to when you first put it on. Hand doesn’t slide down into mit like other oven mits. Still keeps hand from getting burned and that is the point of mit anyway.

I just love these gloves! I bought them with my daughter in mind as she learns to cook. It makes her more comfortable when using the oven.

I really like these oven mitts. They withstand high heat and I feel protected wearing them as they cover my hands and wrists.

This oven mitt is pretty good. I think my bakery team likes the traditional mitt version over the puppet style. We also have had the neoprene section at the very end detach from the stitching at the very end.

This is a problem for my larger handed bakers, but not from someone with a smaller hand who’s fingers don’t reach all the way to the end of the mitt (if you can imagine what I mean). All-in-all, I won’t buy this version again, but it might work for you.

I really liked these oven mitts at first, they’re long enough to protect the arms, comfortable, and the magnet built in is convenient for hanging anywhere. However after using them for a few months in our restaurant bakery I the silicone grip area has almost completely worn through.

I would not recommend these unless you are using them for very light duty. Otherwise they’re great.

These mitts work well for us at the bakery. They are long enough to cover up to the elbows, which can really prevent burns. The neoprene grip on the mitt is great, too, although after heavy use it does tend to show wear.

Still searching for the best mitt out there, but this one is great in the meantime!.

I bought these because their heat resistance was rated up to 650 degrees, but they are not performing to that level. If I hold a hot baking sheet for more than a minute, I can definitely feel the heat seeping through to the point where I need to put the sheet down for a moment.

I also was excited about the magnet feature. Another disappointment. The first pair I got, the magnet was so weak that the mitts slid down the front of my fridge immediately after putting them up. Food52 sent me a replacement pair, and after a few months the magnet isn’t holding them up anymore.

They sort of stay up if I press the silicone part of the mitt right against the metal surface to kind of act as a brake against gravity, but really that shouldn’t be necessary. The silicone is supple enough to maneuver pretty well.

The fit works for my small hands. The coverage (length) of the mitt is good. They held up well after washing, though you’re supposed to turn them inside out and that is quite difficult to do. I would say the main positive for these mitts is just the aesthetic.

But considering you can get most pairs of oven mitts of similar functionality for half the price or less, they aren’t worth it.

I have their blue apron, silicone baking mat, and now this mitten. Completing the blue look. Nothing to complain about this mitten really. It’s a thick mitten, so you’d feel safe putting your hands into the oven.

That’s about it. Though it is thick, so, it might be hard for you to grab some stuff. I bought the bench scraper as well to add more into the blue look, but somehow the bench scraper seems “cheaply” made? I don’t know.

Ended up returning that bench scraper. Anyway, this oven mitts are great.

This is my 2nd pair of these. I have the gray ones in my kitchen and adore them. I got this pair for our outdoor grill. They are attractive, the silicone is brilliant, they clean up beautifully in the washing machine, and the little hidden magnet in them is brilliant for keeping them together.

They are not cheap, but I think they are totally worth it.

This oven mitt protects our breakfast worker while handling hot items. Its comfortable and easy to use and durable. Would order again. Our staff has benefited from this product.

These are nice, but not very thick. The description says they are heat resistant to 600 degrees, but I could feel the heat, uncomfortably, when removing a cookie sheet. They are well made and not sewn crooked or sloppy and they fit well without being too bulky or stiff.

But the material isn’t very plush. I would recommend them because of the pluses and the price, but not if you want a thick, heat resistant mitt.

I replaced my old flame retardant mitts, which I used at my outdoor grill, with these & I’m very pleased with my purchase. The mitts are light-weight, flexible, not clumsy, which is important when you are handling hot food, pans, racks or trays.

I’m especially happy with the length of the mitts (approximately 17″) because they protect your arms when you are cooking on a grill. The small loops at the end of the gloves allow you to hang them on the hooks at the side of the grill.

They were shipped very quickly & actually arrived before the proposed date.

Not as thick as my old ones. Seem to work well but not sure if they would work at 600. Holding a cookie sheet to take cookies off it coming from a 350 oven, I started to feel the heat by the time I took the last couple cookies off.

So for taking right out of the oven maybe but you couldn’t hold the pot/pan/cookie sheet for too long. So I only gave it 4stars.
