20 Best Packing Cubes For Backpacking (2022 Updated)

High quality set of cubes. Rolling my underwear/socks I can fit a ton of them in the large and medium cubes. They do keep their shape nicely and they weight almost nothing. As others have said however, the small one is really very small.

I think you could maybe cram one change of clothes in it. I’ve been using it to keep some snacks.

Another great Osprey product. So light and of great quality. Helps to keep everything organised. The L size is a good size for clothes, it might hold about 6 – 8 T-shirts or other items. And the two smaller ones are handy to keep smaller items organised like electrical stuff, underwear, socks, toiletries etc.

I’ve used these for a couple short trips and they allow me to pack a lot in a small space, while being quite lightweight themselves. Even the small bag holds 7 pairs of underwear and a few pairs of lightweight socks.

Seems like these will last. Likely provide some water resistance, but not waterproof.

Ive been a user of REI’s packing cubes for years. Went in looking for a couple more but they must’ve have discontinued them or were out of stock. I splurged and bought these knowing the quality of the brand.

While a more expensive option, it is a significant step up in quality compared to the REI brand. The product is bluesign(eco-friendly), is a stiffer material and the zippers are robust. The compression design zips your contents in pretty snug.

More so than others cubes, which saves you space. the material is a bit transparent so if that is a concern, it is something to think about.

Regardless of how much one packs into this fantastic contraption, the zipper works with ease. I bought two sets of the monos, and returned them to purchase the Thule cubes. I have four large, one medium, and one small.

Perfect for a month trip to Europe. I am now gifting these to everyone I know! I absolutely love this product!.

This is a great travel cube – the fabric is a little stiff (X-pac?) and the piping isn’t too floppy, which gives good structure for packing. The zippers are also very solid and easy to pull. I’ve used some other cubes that are very lightweight, but pretty floppy.

This cube is all turquoise, with just a triangle of grey when it arrived. Even nicer that way. This large sized cube is perfect for 3 days worth of clothes for me. I fit 2 of everything inside and then I have lots of options.

Works best if you roll your clothes up. Love the 2 sides, I use one side for pants and shirts and the other for underwear, socks etc and it makes everything easy to find.

This is a great packing aid. 1st off — it is incredibly light — weighs practically nothing. This is important when travelling; who wants to pack xtra weight? Moreover the cube is very well designed: the zippers work very well, the openings on each side are large enough to get everything in, and the double pockets enable packing items that are similar together yet kept them apart.

Finally — great irredescent coloring — easy to spot in a full suitcase. By all means — buy the packing aid. You won’t regret it!.

Oh this is so pretty, so different I really like it. I put it on the dining room table, I don’t put much on my table but this beauty made it. I like different things and this is a winner. I would have given it 5 stars but the top to move it open, when I first opened it, it fell off.

I fixed that, hopefully I don’t want anymore bad luck. ( spilt salt) and it should have come with the spoon. Even if you charge a little more, add it in. I searched for it thinking, hoping they sold it.

Unfortunately they did not. I will keep looking. Overall I love it, very pretty.

The large cube needs redesign. It’s flimsy at best and would be so much better if it had more solid sides to give it some form. Be prepared to have everything inside the large cube roll all around the cube.

Also, I don’t feel you need a medium size cube with a plastic side for wet items. It simply takes space away from the whole cube. This made for it being just and only just, a good cube versus an excellent one.

Superb cubes fit beautifully in my B & R cases. Makes packing and keeping tidy through the trip so simple. Wish I’d bought earlier. They’re smart, well made, just right to complement the B & R style.

I will definitely be buying more for the future.

Excellent quality and fit into my B&R (int’l size carry on) suitcase perfectly. They made my packing a lot more efficient. I’ve never been that careful about packing and doing it now makes me feel better.

Excellent choice of sizes and colours. Appears to be very good quality with sturdy YKK zips. Will be used for a touring holiday and will save unpacking everything for each stop en route. Will be ordering more of the larger size.

I love these cubes. I got five days’ worth of clothes in the large one, and they came out wrinkle free! It’s nice to be able to just pull out one cube and not have to unpack the whole suitcase, especially if you’ll be spending nights in different places en route to your destination.

Title includes the word “set”. The detailed description lists four different sizes. But it’s not a full set of four packing cubes. Only one size is provided. It doesn’t really state that clearly that I could find anywhere in the description.

I’m retired and I travel more than the average person, and always use packing cubes. The good…… I love the fact that these are expandable, and sturdy. I never roll items, but fold them flat. Just when I think the cubes have reached their capacity, I can undo the zippers, and squish in a whole lot more.

Regrettably, the bad…. The fact that the cubes don’t open completely is a drawback, hence the 3* instead of 5*. I normally arrive at a destination, put the opened cubes in a drawer or shelves, so I can see what’s there.

The fact that the zippers only open half way makes this impossible. I wanted to love these, but probably wouldn’t buy any more, for that reason, despite the great quality.

More perfect then I even thought they would be. Got them on the one day sale worth every penny and then some!!! Now you can neatly and separately pack everything, so when you open your suit case everything doesn’t fall or on you!!! Loveeeee them.

I’m a terrible packer and these were recommended for me. I’m so happy I tried them and will be purchasing them for other people! These were so helpful in keeping me organized as I packed. I was able to put so much more in my suitcase then I had planned! It made getting ready in the mornings so easy as I knew exactly which cube had what I needed.

I’m totally in love and can never go back to packing any other way! The single set was great for a long weekend, if I was going on a longer trip for a week or more I would likely want another set.

We bought 3 sets so we could use the large for pants and tops, the medium for shorts and bathing suits and the small for socks and underwear. It really helped us. organize for our 3 week trip.

When I ordered my Tortuga Outbreaker backpack, I also ordered the Outbreaker Packing Cubes. Packing cubes generally are recommended for minimalist travel and my impression was the Outbreaker Packing Cubes were specifically designed for my Outbreaker backpack.

To my surprise, they weren’t. I full expected the larger cube to take half the packing area and the 2 smaller ones would fill a quarter each. The large one fit as I expected, but the smaller ones didn’t.

I could only use one of the smaller ones in the area. In the end, I decided against using packing cubes as I found it much easier to load the large area of the backpack with an article at a time. So.

packing cubes generally are OK, I suppose, just not for me. I was disappointed that the Outbreaker Packing Cubes were not custom to my Outbreaker backpack.

I haven’t actually used these packing cubes yet, but I have been using packing cubes for over a year. Before using packing cubes my packing was trash. I finally bought some packing cubes and though great they were flimsy and not durable.

I got my hands on Tortuga’s packing cubes and immediately knew I had been missing out. These cubes are hella durable. I have no doubt these cubes will be around for a long time. The other cubes I have have already started to break down because of cheap flimsy material.

I highly recommend Tortuga’s packing cubes.

I really wanted to like these cubes. As a matter of fact, I STILL want to like these cubes. But I can’t bring myself to dismiss how forgettable they are to my travels. For the price I receive no compression and no real feature that sets these cubes apart from others in their class.

I have used many different brands of cubes and I must say this is by far at the bottom of the list. Unfortunate because I love your products and I waited for over 4 years to purchase my travel gear before I made the plunge for everything in the Outbreaker line.

However, for much less money, travelers can find durable cubes of all types, even those with compression. There is really no real reason to purchase the Outbreaker cubes unless you want to match your gear, like I did.

Totally missed out on this amazing print: Puffin Pack It Starter Kit as well, as a gift waiting for months for it to show up on the “Shop All Organizer” List. It only shows up if you put in the search “Puffin.

” Only 3 out of 5 puffin print sets show up on “shop all organizer. ” And I can’t find any of the puffin designs at any stores both in person and online, even from the places eagle creek recommends. It would be nice if this print came back in stock and have an updated date since it doesn’t show properly on the website for purchasing for months, and still like that online.

And it says “Back in Stock March 17 2022” but that date has passed for months now. Even emailed about this and got very confusing and inconsistent information and timeframe.

I have used pack-it’s for years and wanted to expand my collection of compression cubes. They are a terrific tool for getting the most out of small luggage space while keeping clothes neat. I waited several months until they were back in stock.

These will serve my purpose but I wish they were a smidge bigger and the material a bit more forgiving. I am a big girl and cannot fit my underwire bras in the new small cube with anything else without it threatening to tear.

The older version small cube will hold a couple of bras and my underwear.

I absolutely love packing cubes. I have an upcoming 7day trip and decided to look for 2 addional large sized cubes today while out shopping. I stumbled across this set while in TJ Maxx. I was super excited as this was exactly what I wanted.

They are very easy to use and makes organizing suitcase a breeze. In addition, they were marked down.

I have previously bought this item and was so pleased that I bought two more. Keeps clothing tidy and easy to find in your suitcase.

The material is hard for the meshed cover and the body has no shape which make the packing difficult. The one way zipper is not ideal either. Not a very good packing cell. Won’t recommend to buy.

This is the first time I have ever used a packing cubes & I loved it! I used one for each family member in order to keep each person’s items organized. I used the compression feature for each one and I was quite surprised at how much we were able to fit in them.

Each the girls had plenty of space left after packing outfits for 4 days (shorts, t-shirts, 2 cotton dresses, 1 or 2 jeans, undergarments). We wear women’s S and L, just to give you an idea of the size of the clothing.

My son’s was the most challenging; he wears men’s L, so his clothing is much bulkier. He packed 1 pair of jeans, 3 shorts, t-shirts/polo shirts, underwear. His packing cube was quite bulky, but managed to fit everything in there.

I don’t think he would have been able to fit as much without the compression feature. I have only used these one time. They are light-weight, but appear very durable.

I’m an efficient packer without cubes, but I decided to try using packing cubes for the first time for a 5-day trip abroad so I could fit all my gear inside my carry-on Peak Design 35L duffel bag. I bought a small and a medium, and I gotta say, I’m impressed! I rolled my clothes and fit more than I thought I could.

The small size easily holds a week’s worth of personals and socks with room to spare, and the medium cube fits 5 pairs of shorts, a pair of pants, a jumpsuit, 8 tops, and a bathing suit—then compresses! Speaking of, the cubes compress easily with minimal fighting from the zippers, which are nice, and the overall quality seems solid.

They are a bit thin material-wise, but I think this is no different than other cubes so that they stay lightweight. Peak tries to be environmentally friendly, too. There is a separate zip pocket on the opposite side for dirty clothes that I’m excited to try out.

Mostly, I love the space the cubes save and the fact that everything is packed away in one place so that TSA and I don’t have to scrounge around searching for things within my duffel. I’ll likely pick up another one in the coming months.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I think they are a bit on the pricey side. Otherwise, I highly recommend them. Happy traveling!.

It’s a packing cube, the same thing you can get from any number of vendors to help organize your travel apparel and things. But it comes from Peak Design, maker of fine camera oriented bags, and who seems to be now branching out into general purpose travel gear.

At regular price, it seems a bit rich for my blood, but when I found it at a slight discount, I had to try one out because I know their other bags are posh and well thought out. So what do you get, the medium cube is exactly that, it won’t hold a ton of stuff, but is a great size for weekend of travel.

Neat trick 1: You can unzip the bag easily but just pulling on the pull tags, and it unzips itself in literally a second. Neat trick 2: expand the bag fully first by unzipping the expansion zipper, then pack your stuff into this bag, and by closing up the expansion zipper again, it helps you compress the whole bag into a smaller size.

If you don’t understand what I mean: check the product promo videos. Neat trick 3: the bag has a flexible fabric divider between a front compartment and back compartment. when your clothes become dirty, put them into the back side of the bag.

As the back compartment fills up, the front compartment has less clothes and the overall bag size is still the same. Your clean stuff stays separated. The fabric on this cube feels very light and is very flexible and supple, but made of strong 700D nylon.

So it should hold up well. I expect no less from Peak Design so I’m hoping for many years of using this cube. I do feel I should deduct a star because this is expensive stuff. I cant ignore the fact that you could buy 2-3 of those competitor packing cubes for the same price.

We love this set of Eagle Creek bags!!! We’ve used them for the last several years for backpacking and have several in various sizes. They are very light, durable, and wash up well. I like the white translucent color because it helps to be able to locate items inside the bag.

We wanted to get this set of three pack-it cubes for a niece who will be joining us for her first backpack trip next summer. Imagine our dismay when we discovered that Eagle Creek doesn’t seem to be making these particular bags anymore.

They’ve gone to compression cubes and mesh packing cubes, which are a little heavier. We were very happy to find this set on eBay! We may have purchased the last of this great product. I hope Eagle Creek will see this review and realize there is still a market for this packing cube configuration.

I was able to fit 4 pairs of shorts and 8 T-shirts in the big one and all the underwear and socks for a week on the small one! The compression feature is awesome! Incredible space saver. The quality is great.

The materials are thin but tough and feather-light. The zippers work very well. I got them on sale 30off plus my mmbshp discounts. The only downside is the MSRP price is a little too high for what it is.

I bought Packi-it Compression Sets back in 2016 when I was heading across country for a High School reunion followed by 8 days in NYC. I was, and still am today, amazed at how well they work. I also love using them to keep unused/clean clothes separate from dirty clothes on the trip home.

I am heading to NYC on June 27 and will be using these same compression sleeves I bought in 2016. They are that durable and that Good!.

These packing cubes are fantastic! They make a huge difference in consolidating my clothes and hold an impressive amount of items, so I am able to get SO much more in my suitcase. Honestly, I don’t know how or why I ever traveled without packing cubes.

Notably, these are made from a strong canvas and have a sturdy zipper, so I am confident they will last much longer than the cheap nylon cubes I bought these to replace (which ripped and would no longer zip).

As with all Calpack items I’ve purchased to date, these look and feel like quality-made items, and I am really happy with them. I absolutely recommend purchasing a set.

OK first of all I came into this with low expectations. How on earth could 5 “smaller suitcases” make my suitcase have more space? Am I really that poor of a packer? Do the clothes really create THAT much chaos when they are just folded in there together? Are these people all just bad at life/packing/organization and so when they introduce the cubes, naturally their life improves and they give the things 5 stars? And yet, despite my skepticism, I am always looking to go up-level where possible with my travel experience, so I took the packing cube plunge just before my most recent work trip.

And let me tell you — it was WORTH IT. Yes, they hold the clothes together, yes they make it easier to fit more items into the same amount of space, yes packing will feel like a fun Tetris game that you’ll want to keep playing and yes it is all optimized forever and ever and you need these in your life.

I went with CALPAK over all the thousands of options on Amazon for a few reasons. First, they look beautiful. I have the silver marble and they just look FABULOUS and thus, are fun to use. Second, I love my CALPAK suitcases and all of the thoughtfulness of their design and assumed these cubes would have a similar attention to detail.

They do! I could not be happier. Several other reviews have mentioned surprise over the size of the cubes — but I do not share this surprise. They felt exactly right to me and made it very easy to group my items by type/occasion — dresses, rompers and jumpsuits for a week easily fit into the larger cubes, while the smaller cubes were perfect for all my workout clothes/tops/bottoms respectively.

This was all I needed for an 8-day work trip, but if you are traveling longer you might consider buying two sets.

I at dangerously amazing because you can fit so much more in your suitcase with these amazing cubes that you can easily be over the weight limit when checking g your bags…I speak from experience. My husband gets so mad but I just blame it on the cubes.

It’s awesome too for whe. You come back home from a trip- you can put all the dirty clothes Ina cube or organize clothes in each cube according to how you will unpack them and put them away.

These packing cubes just arrived along with my Carry-On Plus. While shopping for my next suitcase I discovered that the coordinating packing cubes were a pretty big consideration in terms of what suitcase I was going to buy.

My old suitcase was purchased as a set from a big-box store. I bought some cheap packing cubes from Amazon that were not made for or with “my” luggage in mind. They also didn’t have the features that the Monos packing cubes have.

These Monos packing cubes are brilliant. I could tell right away they were worth the money. The material is thick, you’ll feel the quality of the tear-resistant, water-resistant 450D nylon twill. My no-name cubes are thin and have no form or shape.

These cubes have shape, they won’t flop and fold over when you’re trying to pack them. I love that the inside is the same anti-microbial fabric found in the Monos suitcases. The cheap cubes didn’t have an “interior fabric,” it was just the inside portion of the outside nylon.

The two biggest features for me were the compression of the cubes and that they were designed to fit the Monos Carry-On suitcase. Looking at Away, their packing cubes didn’t compress with a dedicated zipper.

They’re compressible, but inside the suitcase. Monos cubes have a dedicated zipper to compress the cube’s height, that was a big selling point for me. Second, I wanted to buy my suitcase and packing cubes together from the same company.

That way I knew the cubes would, or should, be designed to fit the suitcase. Monos designed their cubes to fit nicely inside the suitcase, that is well thought out organization! I don’t like having to play Tetris with my suitcase and packing cubes the night before I’m leaving on a trip.

Inevitably I would find myself moving, spinning, and repositioning my packing cubes to fit just right inside my suitcase trying to figure out how I packed it all last time. All four cubes compress and store neatly inside each other and inside the suitcase when not in use which makes for a clean and simple solution.

I had to do a 2 week international trip with just a carry on and these were life savers. I needed bathing suits and activewear for an island we were exploring, dresses and jeans for cities in the mainland and tops and sweaters for cool nights on the coast.

These cubes are thick and made of great materials. I usually rip mine by over packing but these were super strong. The fabric allowed great ventilation while protecting from moisture. We were moving between rain, desert heat and high humidity and I didn’t experience damp clothes once which is no small feat.

The compression is pretty good and for those who debate to cube or not cube – I rolled my heavy items into the nooks and crannies then layered the cubes on top. I do have to remove one star for the fabric and compression – these cubes are heavier than most and so that amazing fabric can actually get in the way of compressing the cube which makes them compress into odd shapes if overstuffed.

Be honest – we all want to overstuff these! I worked around this by packing the cube in compressed form or ditching the compression zipper and just squishing the cubes into whatever space I needed. They are pricey but after this trip, I feel they were worth it and I love that they match the suitcase interior.

PROS: The quality and construction is 10/10. Zippers, fabric, color, sewing, everything is high quality. They fit really nicely in the carry on plus that I got. The assortment of sizes is perfect. CONS: I am a packing cube user and typically the way I have used them is to put as much in as possible, saving space and to avoid the clothes from moving around and getting too wrinkled.

These cannot be zipped/compressed when they are packed full. So I don’t really know how much space the compression feature saves you. Your options are to pack more and not compress them, or pack less and compress them (in which case there’s less stuff in them to begin with.

) If you are traveling with thicker/heavier clothing, or if you are a larger person or just someone who likes to pack as much as you can in a cube, don’t bank on being able to use the compression. When you pack them full they’re like really full, but I didn’t have any problems fitting them in the carry-on plus.

I have two of the smaller size and wanted the bigger one for when I need to take bulkier items like outerwear. This isn’t the most helpful since I haven’t actually used this one yet but I really like the other size for shirts and underwear.

Worked very well for organizing small gear for easy access in truck console then to day pack. Light weight, packable and durable. loaded it with cliff bars and other travel snacks. Can see what is available and easy access.

Very pleased with this purchase. can see alot of uses for this little organizer. I think this may be a future xmas stocking purchase for others.

As a frequent traveler, I’ve learned to use travel cubes to keep a small semblance of order in my pack. I’d always borrowed some eagle creek cubes, which were excellent, but I finally caved and bought my own, and I do prefer the lightweight material of these cubes compared to the heavier canvas of the eagle creek cubes.

The medium is definitely the most useful, but a small is good for socks/undies, and the large (which if you had to sacrifice one, it would probably be the large) is good for pants and heavier sweaters.

Overall, I’m absolutely happy I finally splurged on these. No more rooting through the pack at each spot. The organization is worth it.

Our family of 4 (2 biggies, 2 littlies) have just returned from a long weekened away, giving us the first chance to try out these nifty packing cells. As usual, when we are only going for a few days, all our gear goes into the one suitcase.

The usual scenario is by day two, everyone’s gear is mixed into a big clothes soup, and it’s a nightmare trying to find the right clothes, especially if tiptoeing around a sleeping child in the dark.

This time, we allocated each person a packing cell – what an easy, simple solution to keeping everyone’s gear separated. A trip to the showers meant just grabbing the right packing cell and taking it with you, and all your clothes were at your disposal.

And no dropping undies on the way!.

Giving it 3 stars for compression. Five Stars for the quality of the cubes. In order to be able to zip the compression zipper all the way around, you can not put very much in the cube. If you put more than a few things in it, it is very hard to close the compression zipper all the way.

You certainly cannot put more in than the cube is high. Very disappointed in the compression aspect of these cubes. If you are just looking for a nice packing cube to keep you organized, these are very nice for that.

The cube in the little video shown with the listing for the cubes is empty. A cube filled even to the top of the cube and not over the top does not zip very easily all the way around if at all. That cube to me looks empty in the video.

I would recommend solely on using it as a cube for organization. I would not recommend it for using as a compression cube. I just flew on 2 trips and could not get the compression that I wanted from these cubes.

The seemingly high price of these packing cubes kept me from purchasing. I finally did buy a set 6 years ago and regretted not buying them sooner. After 6 years they still look and work great. I bought a cheaper set to compare.

Though I would say any packing cube is better than none at all, I understand why this set is more expensive. It is made of better material. The zipper is very smooth. It’s flexible and strong you can kind of use it to compress your clothes in addition to organizing it.

I bought an orange set as a Christmas gift. The recipient loves it.

Can’t recommend the Hyper-Lite Packing Cubes, and other eBags organizers, highly enough. On a recent long overseas trip to multiple destinations, they enabled me to stay thoroughly organized throughout.

The Hyper-Lite Packing Cubes weigh almost nothing, stack in a suitcase, let you see what is in them, and zip and unzip easily — they do their job perfectly. I ordered grey ones, hoping this will be more practical over time, but they come in different colors.

I packed two different wardrobes (winter and summer) into a medium-sized check-in suitcase using these packing cubes. Since I was living out of my suitcase most of the time, in addition to helping me to pack and unpack efficiently for flights, the packing cubes also functioned as dresser drawers during the trip — permitting me to pack like items together, so I could find things quickly when I needed them, and to set winter-only items apart during the warm-weather part of the trip.

Clothes also don’t seem to wrinkle as much when packed into these cubes. I actually ordered two of these sets, and used the larger cubes and one of the medium cubes for this trip, together with a large Pack-it-Flat Toiletry Kit, a large Cord Cube (for multiple chargers and adapters) and three Shoe Sleeves (and still had room in my suitcase for a small bag containing an ultra-light down coat, folding rainboots, and an umbrella.

) On a single-destination or domestic trip, I would use the smaller cubes in this set for chargers and adapters. Before this trip, I had never used packing cubes before — what a difference — so much easier to travel with them!.

Durability I can not speak to – only used 1 week to date. Used for packing my clothing & gear in a duffel for a bike trip, the duffel was transported via truck to camp site each night, so there was some throwing, heaving of duffels, duffel bags piled 2 high.

Inside, the ultralights held up!These TRULY made my packing VERY EASY, VERY ORGANIZED, VERY COMPACT! Zippers worked well, the netted tops allowed me to see what was in each cube without having to unzip, also permitted some airflow.

At night with duffels in tent, and some condensation in tents, contents of cubes did not get damp – airflow good. The springy sides permitted the cube to retain a soft cube shape when packed. After trip, cubes rinsed out & dried quickly! Store easily as they fit into each other & the ‘springy’ sides flatten.

Most packing cubes are square and too large to fit nicely into a 70L duffel. These are perfect and fit in with ample space. They seem small but can fit quite a lot in them. Highly recommend. Excellent quality.

These cubes are great. Just travelled to the UK and Spain and so handy to have in the suitcase and carry on luggage. Made travel so much easier. Handy with the label also.

All of my unmentionables are safely stored away and not touching my other clothes. These packs are amazing and it is wonderful to go to one spot and pull out what is needed instead of rummaging through making a big mess.
