20 Best Padded Gloves For Cycling (2022 Updated)

Very well made. High quality materials. I love the durable goatskin palms and cool cotton crochet upper. I wear these for my almost daily bike commute to/from the office and used them on a 7-week bike tour in Europe.

I buy these in sets of two so I can wash and dry one pair while using the other. I’m about to buy my 5th and 6th pair. The previous four pair have gotten me through 16 years of cycling, averaging about 3000 miles/year.

Have worn these gloves just a few times on my bike rides, and I really appreciate the padding and the mesh crochet tops. The padding helps with wrist fatigue and the crochet mesh has kept my hands cool and have not overheated in them.

I have also purchased another pair for a gift. Being female of average size, I ordered a small and they fit really well. Not too tight to get on or off.

Back in the mid-80’s I bought a pair of leather workout gloves because I belonged to the Chicago Health Club (later named Bally) and I worked out on the machines. I am sure that they were Aero Techs or something very similar.

They had the cotton mesh and they were the first and best gloves I’ve ever owned. They lasted me thru every other fitness center I joined after moving out of the Chicago western suburbs and up into Lake County in Illinois.

I use them for machines and lifting weights. I now live in Michigan and just joined a fitness center here on The Thumb and took my leather gloves out and they were really getting shredded so I looked up online where I could find the same thing.

These are them!!! The same thing though a lighter color. The other gloves out there at sports stores are not leather. I love the leather. And these are padded so nicely. My hand measures 9″ around the palm area and so I ordered a large.

They fit perfectly!!! And I know that my old ones were also a large. I couldn’t read any label on the old ones because of their age, but I know these Aero Tech gloves are the same. They are worth the money.

These will last me until I die! I am 63 years old. Thank you Aero Tech!!!!.

I normally fit a size 7 glove. I used the measuring guide linked on this page to measure my hand and it was a size large in these gloves. I received them and while the fingers fit snugly and are the perfect length, the palm area is too wide.

They are so wide at the wrist that even tightening the velcro as tight as it will go leaves the gloves baggy on me. I also feel like the gloves are too short and don’t come far enough up to my wrist for my liking.

I have a different brand of MTB gloves which I purchased last season from Altitude Sports that fits much hands much better so I will have to purchase more of those instead. I just thought this time I would try FOX as it’s such a renown brand for MTB gear, unfortunately these gloves are not the right fit for me.

When you think if this glove, think minimalism. It’s thin, light, and basic. As such you could wear if for 4 season riding in good weather, but on a cold or wet day you would probably want something more substantial.

The Ranger Glove’s thin material gives you great bar feel and control and the plastic ridges on the thumb, index and middle finger give you a nice bit of extra grip on the bars, shifters and brakes. The thin material is not going to provide much protection and these gloves lack the reinforced protective knuckle and finger guards found on beefier products, so they’re probably best suited to either those who stick to bike paths, gravel or accomplished single track riders who don’t crash much.

This is my second pair of these exact gloves, this time in a size Large. Long story short, it seems like the XLs run a little on the big side and the larges run WAY on the small side (they were actually smaller than a friend’s size SMALL glove).

Not sure if the ones I got were mismarked or what, but I can just barely squeeze into them and I am hoping they stretch. It just isn’t worth the hassle of sending them back. Other than the sizing being inconsistent, these are really comfortable gloves.

The padding is sufficient to prevent numbness and discomfort on both my flat bar and drop bar bikes for rides exceeding 5-6 hours. Despite the sizing issues I’ll still probably buy another pair of XLs and live with them being a little big.

Bought a pair of Bravo & a pair of Jag both medium size. I’ve used Giro gloves for ages & they are always good quality & they last. These however were so tight it was ridiculous, no where near the same size as the Jag or my other older Giros’.

The velcro tab also sticks to the body of the glove on the Bravo this then frays & looks worn pretty quickly. In my book the Jag fits better the velcro tab doesn’t stick to the clove when in the drawer & they are cheaper too!.

Definitely runs small. This glove fits but more like most medium size work gloves from big box stores. I am typically a medium but glad i got the large. The glove leaves a sticky residue on my hands.

The padding could be slightly thicker. Overall, they’ll do on training rides.

For this price and from this brand you would expect quality. Sadly not with the Bullitt gloves. Size: measured their way. and still huge. Fit: No fit just very bulky. One side was flappy around the wrist (due to the popper on the strap being in a different position to the other) Quality: after a couple of months one popper rusted, got stiff and then fell off.

Got stained hands on the first few sweaty rides. Not ready to wear: wash then first but air dry slowly to prevent hardening and rub leather dubbin in first. I’m looking elsewhere for a decent pair of CYCLING gloves.

I’m sure these are made for driving a car; dry, no sweat or wind to show you how badly they fit.

I bought the small size since it was the smallest available size, and following the size chart I could tell that they would be a little large, but they are rather large indeed. I don’t have particularly small hands, and when I buy other brands of gloves, I usually buy women’s medium.

However, the small size for these is extremely loose and feels like a women’s large. After two uses, the crochet back has already begun to separate from the suede palm at one seam, and I’ve also noticed that the dye for the suede transfers very easily on skin, leaving my palms and wrists (from the strap) very orange after wearing.

I was really hoping these gloves would be better since they look nice in the pictures, but I would not recommend them.

I was needing cycling gloves for some extra cushioning, and these gloves were the perfect solution for me. Being in Texas, I was not looking for a glove that would keep my hands warm but one that would be cool enough to wear during hot weather and would provide some cushion in the palm area.

I purchased the red/blue stripe crocheted gloves and am very pleased with the product. Using the provided sizing chart, I measured 7. 5″ and bought size small. Great fit with a little room to spare and lightweight.

I love these gloves. I use them when I ride my bicycle. They are comfortable and light yet cushioned on the palms for protection. The exposed fingertips is a great feature. I was concerned with the upcoming summer heat, but I don’t think it will be a problem at all.

I recommend these gloves to anyone who wants some protection for their hands.

These are my favorite gloves for weight-lifting. I’ve also gifted pairs to friends who also use them. I cycle outdoors and have another pair for that. They’re well-made gloves that I’d never want to be without.

They look and feel great. I don’t know how long they last for use but in principle the value for money is very good!

I’ve always loved these gloves, I wear this when it gets cold out. They fit really well, and are easily adjustable with the velcro. I thought they would be too small being XS, that’s the only size I can find in this style.

But they fit very well, I have small hands, but I was still concerned about the fit. They stretch out a wee bit after a few days of use too. I ordered a different pair in small, but they sag quite a bit in the palm area.

I’ve been looking for the right fit and feel in cycling gloves. These Garneau Biogel gloves fit very well and the feel is also very comfortable especially with the Biogel padding and the airflow mesh in the palm.

The material looks durable in contrast to my previous glove of a different brand. I’m hard on my cycling gloves and look forward to using these. I’m close to the top end of the XL, so if my hand was any bigger I would go the the XXL for sure.

Fit is snug but just within the size range stated. If you want a bit more room, go up one size.

Louis Garneau is, in my opinion, the “less well-known” of the bicycle apparel manufacturers, and yet their products are high quality and not as pricey. what’s wrong with that?? I have three pairs of these BioGel Gloves, and they serve me on my indoor trainer, on my road bike, and even on my mountain bike! Material is top-notch, fitting is superb, and durability is excellent.

Highly recommended!.

All in all, these are really great gloves, especially if on discount. They have discreet velcro fasteners that make taking on & off gloves super easy. The only weird thing I noticed is that the thumbs have these half-circle fabric “tabs” that gets slightly in the way when I bend my thumbs.

I take notice of this when I quickly switch to the drops and do sprints. I believe they were added to make it easier to pull the gloves off. They don’t “get in the way” really, but you can feel them if the excess fabric accidently folds in the wrong way (when you bend your thumb).

I’m considering cutting them off so that the fabric for the thumbs are complete straight.

I have wide palms and short stubby fingers for a slim 5’4” woman. I wear large womens or medium mens. These large were very slightly too wide and the fingers just slightly tight but the cushioning is awesome and the position of the gel is perfect.

I at first bought 2 pair and after an 80km ride, bought 1 more pair. The 3 pulls to remove them work well but the other 2 fingers have to be coaxed off as in other gloves.

I had high hopes for these gloves as they look great. Sadly the inside seems are a little rough and they are not very breathable. Faux suede is just not a great choice in material for a body part that needs to stay dry.

The finger pull tabs are useless and too thick for being under a finger bend. These made it to my Goodwill pile after 2 rides.

It has gel pads but I am still getting cramps and having to do a lot of stretching exercises, perhaps this isn’t the right size albeit it fits my fingers perfectly. How it looks and what other quality is desired may not be at play here: I am only wearing gloves just so that I do not get the cramps and other associated problems (e.

Previously I have purchased gloves around the $15 price range. The construction of those cheaper gloves was good but the padding and ergonomics where not always the best. So I stepped up to these. They are worth every penny.

I will not go back to cheap cycling gloves again. There is a massive difference in construction, fit, and comfort. The padding is thicker but does not get in the way. Also the padding is located where you need it and not where you don’t.

I used to get numb hands while riding. These gloves significantly reduce that. The manufacturer has a fitting chart. I purchased the medium size that the chart recommended. They fit a little tight, but usable.

However, if you like you glove a little looser, you may want to go up one size.

I am torn between giving these gloves a big score or a medium one. I have now done three bike rides of about 2- 2. 5 hrs. The gloves had impressed me for about an hour. My trouble is my hands sweat a lot and before long the inside of the gloves became damp and this slowly made my fingers quite cold.

I have repeated this feeling on three rides now. The temperature has been between -1 to about 3 degrees. The glove being lobsters glove do keep my fingers warmer than normal gloves. I think the wicking is not that good and this lets my hands become damp and cold.

It maybe that to make them waterproof the wicking has suffered. I could be a expecting to much from £20 gloves. In Summary good for short rides not so good on longer rides.

Keeps my fingers nice & warm on cold rides, with much better dexterity than the old pair of motorcycle gauntlets I was using previously for cold days. Quite a tight fit over fingerless cycling mitts so I probably should have sized up.

Can get a bit sweaty if the day isn’t really cold enough to justify them. Very good visibility. Very light. Appear waterprooof but I haven’t used them in proper rain yet.

For cool mornings until it heats up, these are excellent. Lightweight windstoppers for a fraction of the cost of other well known gloves it’s a no-brainer. They wash well after each ride and a last for ages.

This is my second pair as I wore the last ones out and wouldn’t hesitate in buying again when these wear out too. So unless you absolutely must have a brand name on your weekend handies that’s fine but otherwise, the Optimums are a great buy.

I’ve used these on 3 long (26 mile) rides. They are comfortable, light-weight, and a good fit for my hand (L). The surprise is the stitching-in of the palm padding on the inside of the glove. This sits, exposed, on the inside of the glove and is just roughly stitched along its edge.

Every time I put the glove on, my fingers ripple over that stitching. Other gloves have a full inner layer and secure the padding between the outer and inner layers, so there is no edge that your fingers hit when you put them on.

Not this glove. In use on my rides, I don’t notice this, but every time I put them on, I wonder how long that stitching will last and keep the edge down.

I got these so I could stop putting so much sunscreen on my hands during the summer. I ride about an hour a day, five days a week. They’re pretty lightweight, and have a few tiny holes throughout them for ventilation, which makes them great for the hot days.

The fingertips actually work with my phone, which was a nice surprise, as I usually don’t have good luck with that when wearing gloves. There’s a bit of padding in the palm, which is nice, but I’ve only had them for a few months, so I’m not sure if that will wear out.

I’ll see how they work when it gets cold in the Midwest, but they’ve been great during chilly mornings blocking some of the windchill.

I’m very pleased with this purchase. The big surprise was the “touch screen” finger tips actually work. Many gloves promise this and few deliver. Love the way they fit like a pair of leather drivers gloves.

the pad is in the right spot and gives me the relief I need on my hybrid bike. Good wind stopping and these will be my go to gloves this winter for temps down to 40 degrees f. I have other gloves i can pull over them in colder temps so they will be a great base thermal layer of sorts.

Love these. They fit well and have good all over padding. The leather is supper soft and I love the colour. Their first outing was on a century ride and they performed better than expected.

There are cheaper gloves on the market but these exude quality. I have had a pair of the white ones and they are just wearing on one palm, so I thought I would opt for the black ones. Comfy, great fit, you couldn’t ask more of a glove.

I find the mitten doesnt have the padding in the area where it is required and am concerned about a carpal tunnel injury

VALUE: Would I buy again? Yes, but. I think the price point is a bit high. There are cheaper options out there if you’re pinching pennies. DURABILITY: Some minor stitching has started to fray but I haven’t met a glove that hasn’t done this yet.

After a few crashes, they have held up well with no tears despite being thin. COMFORT: The palm has a very thin feel and doesn’t bunch up on me. They are snug but not tight as the stretchy material conforms to your hand.

it’s like another layer of skin. I like the ‘no-velcro’ cuff, which makes the a little tough to get on but I like not fooling with the adjustable closure wrist. PERFORMANCE: One of the better ‘minimalist’ gloves I’ve tried.

The device compatibility stitching in the pointer finger and thumb is a nice touch. PROTECTION: There’s no extra padding on the top part of the hand, which I like. So, if you’re looking for a glove delivering protection then look elsewhere.

I’ve been using these for a few weeks now. Initially slightly tight, but they open up and fit beautifully. They look great, are super comfortable and my hands feel free and unrestricted. I don’t ride dirt (yet), so I just use these in the street.

I ride year round and have worn these in 0 and just below 0 temps. not recommended haha. Anything over 5 degrees is awesome though. Highly recommend, can only imagine how awesome these would be on dirt bikes.

Love these gloves, a lot better than using normal gloves since I find them slippery on the bars and make it so I can’t use my phone’s screen. These have nice grippy sections for the brake and shifters.

I brought them for protection from falls when MTBing, which they have saved my skin a couple of times. But I found that they’re great for those frigid early morning rides. My only small complaint is that the sleeve is a bit short, but that’s probably because I’m used to motorbike gloves.

I love these gloves. I can’t say how they work for biking but I bought them to use during resistance band workouts and they’ve been perfect for that (no more pain between my thumb and index finger when I have to choke up on the band for certain exercises).

They’re holding up great after 7 months of rigorous use 4-5 times per week, and a quick hand wash freshens them up pretty well. I just bought a second pair so that I still have gloves to use when one pair is drying after being washed.

I really like these gloves and they arrived on time. They look nice, the stitching feels tight and the material feels solid. The “crackle” pattern on the palms is a tacky rubbery material that grips excellently.

The pull-off loops between the fingers make them easy to remove, even when they’re sticky with sweat. They do sometimes get caught on things when doing stuff off-bike,.

Thesee gloves are great. I wear a medium mechanix glove. So i ordered a medium perfect fit. Tried them out today i love the fit and feel. Good gloves.

Great gloves with excellent padding. I don’t think they are specifically female but I bought a size M and they fit very well. (71/2-8). My only complaint is that getting the gloves off in hot weather is near on impossible.

The only way I can do it is by pulling them off and letting them dry and air inside out, then the next day I then have to turn them back again, this is easier than it sounds! A couple of finger tabs would have given these gloves 5 stars.

I picked these up after reading reviews saying this was the best glove on the market for long rides like brevets. Finding I get numbness in the hands much earlier with these gloves than I did with the cheap Amazon brand I was using before.

Might be sizing – I’m right at the border between small and medium, and bought the small. Fit well but the only tab is in between the index and middle finger so have to pull on the fingers and work quite a bit to take them off.

Purchased as my main gloves for learning 26”BMX wheelie game. Over 50 so I was feeling the pounding from dropping the front wheel back to the pavement as I practiced. Gloves started out irritating my wrists but that went away when I washed the gloves in Woolite.

Fit is tight. I am normally a medium in Mechanix gloves and buy 6 or so pair a year for work. Theses in large are a great fit. Love the work glove look, skulls and splatter are not my thing. Good product and I would buy them again.

Excellent Dakine gloves! I use mines for commutes, mtb, and gtb. That is “grocery biking” for the cool parents. The finger sleeves are touch screen compatible and the sweat band on the thumb is pretty darn practical.

My only advice would be to wash with antibacterial detergent and air dry now and then. The construction and graphic are well done and so are these gloves. I highly recommend and would buy another pair in the future.

Love these! I’ve never really had proper gloves, riding mostly Ontario singletrack. The cushion and traction is really reducing wrist and hand fatigue, a huge plus for me as it is almost prohibitive.

Non slip pads on the index fingers is great for braking. Didn’t think gloves would make such a difference in my riding experience, these are dope.

These gloves are great quality and have all the features you want. My challenge is that I have fairly small hands and I nearly always use a small glove size (ring size 5-6). I ordered the medium and they were a bit tight the first ride (8 miles).

The second ride (25 miles) I thought they would loosen up, but I had to take the right glove off at 23 miles because it was cutting into the web between my fingers so badly that my whole hand/arm was going numb.

I wish I would’ve bought the large. Also, probably because of the size, they were EXTREMELY hard to get off. The “finger pulls” seem a little fragile and are hard to grab a hold of. I had to use my teeth to be able to grab onto them and pull.

What a perfect pair of gloves to get out and ride. Fantastic entry level gloves for cycling. I like that the gloves are well designed for ease of removal after a bike ride. The size runs small so if you regularly wear Medium order a Large.

Great colors to chose from as well. The padding gloves are great for absorbing the vibration from the road surfaces. Highly recommended will bring a smile that’s sure to tighten your chin strap. Exceeded my expectations.

Really want to like these but they are too big. I’m in between Medium and Large and went up a size as recommended by a Trek employee I chatted with before purchasing. Should have went with the medium.

I cut the labels out because they are ridiculously long and got in the way to get a real feel. Would like to swap out for the smaller size but my LBS is out of stock and don’t want to hassle with returning to Trek, wait for a refund then repurchase the correct size.

Should have gone with my gut and bought the medium because the back material has a lot of stretch and doesn’t ‘fit like a glove’.

Very happy with these, one of my favourite pieces of kit at the moment and easily the best pair of road gloves I’ve owned. I love the soft material, the high viz touches and they appear well put together.

Have mainly used them commuting by road and cyclo-cross bikes to date.

I really like these gloves. They are cool and comfortable, easy to get on and off, and just forgettable when worn. The palm padding is good, and I like the middle finger tabs for removing them. I would buy them again.

This are great at the price. They’re great in cold weather, resist small downpours, and are fairly decent at holding in heat whilst soaked through. I’ve ridden using these paired with waterproof overmitts at down to -2C in rain and snow and have been okay.

Decent pair of three-season gloves. I’ve pretty much worn through a pair after two years (roughly 8,000km or 400 hours of riding), and the stitching is starting to wear through in some places as well as the plastic detailing peeling/wearing off.

However at this price they’ve held up far better than cheap comparable gloves.

The opening for these is to small for the size of hand that the glove fits. I bought an extra large as it was the smallest size I could physically get my hands into, but it was too large when riding the bike.

That said, when used in situations other than cycling as a general pair of gloves, the fit was OK. Perhaps they’re just not very good *cycling* gloves. And they were black, not neon yellow.

Cheap gloves that do their job well. Used around 0degC. On an 8mile road commute and for mountain biking. Not got them wet yet. I swear by the thicker winter gloves for general use for all but the most extreme weather.

As part of weight loss journey I purchased a Specialized Roll 3. 0. Love the bike by the way, I highly recommend it as an all-around cycling choice. When I was researching the bike one reviewer complained the OEM grips were uncomfortable.

Shortly into my first ride I agreed with him. I researched gloves and decided on the Body Geometry Dual-Gell Short Finger Gloves. Two words: problem solved. They very good gloves and make my rides so much more enjoyable.

I liked them so much I bought the full finger gloves for when it gets cooler. They did however seem to run small. According to the fit guide from Specialized they recommended a large. When the gloves arrived they were too small so I had to reorder in x-large.

They fit perfect! Specialized has a very efficient return process which was much appreciated.

I bought these simply to replace older pairs of POC gloves and various other brands, that have reached the end of their life. However after my first ride on these I realized I was missing out on a much better glove.

They truly surprised me with the excellent fit and comfort while on the bars. These gloves completely mitigate the bulky seams, and extra fabric that wiggles around loosely on the palm for me, and have a second skin type of feel.

I would not say these run small, however they do run very slim fitting, again like a second layer of skin, so if you are on the line between sizes go up. I plan on using these for every type of discipline of cycling, I find them to work well for everything in between bombing down black diamond jump lines as well as grinding up steep road climbs.

I’m a huge Specialized fan. I have specialized road and mountain bikes and specialized bike shorts. I recently replaced my old wonderful, but worn out specialized road gloves with these and find them lacking.

They’re poorly made, uncomfortable and ill fitting. When I got to the cash register at my local Specialized shop, I noticed the finishing fabric ring on one of the fingers was detached and I swapped it for another pair.

Though my hands are identical and I have never had a problem with any kind of gloves in terms of the fit being exactly the same on both hands, this pair’s left and right were different in the thumb area causing discomfort in the left hand but not the right.
