20 Best Padded Shorts For Snowboarding (2022 Updated)

I was recommended these by a friend, and must say they have changed my skating! I am an adult roller skater and my park sessions used to end once it hurt too much to continue. (I fall on my butt/hips a LOT).

Since I bought these I have fallen in ways that would previously take the wind out of me and force me to stop, but I’ve been able to continue! I can’t rate these highly enough and I’ve recommended them to all my friends who have trouble falling.

You can even take the padding out and move it around to areas you need it most, doubling it up or removing where necessary. BUY.

Very happy with this line of knee and elbow gaskets. Great for a little added protection, obviously won’t offer as much safety as hard shell pads but very comfortable, low profile and can be worn under clothes.

I’ve had one or two minor falls and these have held up and protected fine. Maybe a little on the pricey side but good quality. The sizes are a little on the small side so check size guide carefully, if in doubt go lager than you usually would.

Happy with these and would purchase again.

They are fantastic! Great hit absorbing, so my elbows are in one piece (stil somehow 😉 ). One thing, I see that Triple Eight have wrong size system. I should have XS – as it’s written in size information, but it was too small.

I have the same issue with knee protectors. Overall you should but those, they are worth every penny (as your bones).

I got these thinking they would work great for training for triathlons. Boy was I wrong. I picked up a large as I always do for this type of product and they fit like a small. I expected them to be tight but I literally couldn’t get them over my thighs.

The seams stretched and then ripped. I wouldn’t recommend getting this product because until they fix their sizing for sure. Quality was t bad but it didn’t take much to break the stitching and that’s an issue in its self.

I started playing pickleball a little bit. And the heat is been holding steady here in the Pacific Northwest. I started getting some chaffing/rashes in places that ,well, I normally hadn’t got them. I tried these shorts to help eliminate the rashes I was getting.

Wow, what a difference these make. As I play, I don’t feel any rubbing or pain. The shorts are very comfortable.

I am 240lbs and 6’1” and the XL shorts fit me perfectly. I love the flat seams that don’t feel uncomfortable nor do they restrict blood flow. You feel extra support when running or lifting weights, which pushed me to go harder in my workouts.

Nowadays quick dry is implied but I usually jump in the hot tub after a run/workout to soak down and these shorts work perfectly for that, too!.

I was confused how these are called bike shorts. I’m sure it’s me however I expected there to be at least a minimal amount of padding for my crotch. Nope, there is none. Only padding for the upper hip and the tailbone.

These are worthless for any real saddle time.

I’m very happy with this product, but at the same time feel it’s dangerously mis-advertised. I was looking for a low profile protective liner that would be comfy on long rides with chalenging technical sections, and not make me look like a hockey goalie.

These are great for that, and have done well on some unplanned dismounts ;p However, these are a far, far cry from what would be suitable for downhill or even egressive all mountain, and should not be marketed as such.

there is no padding for the hips at all, and the padding on the lower thighs are just spaced out small gell pucks. It’s probably obvious, but you would have to wear shorts over these to protect the lycra which would easily shred with most crashs.

As I said earlier I’m actually very happy with these for the purpose that I had in mind, which was a compromise between protection and comfort, something suitable for a trail with as many uphills as down.

The chamois is OK, but not great but agian I’m willing to accept that in a liner that is suited for trails that would have you out of the saddle as much as in it. As a boonus, these pretty much disaper under some baggy shorts, so you’re not advertising that you’re wearing protection PROS: Comfy, Low Profile, Lightweight CONS: Voids In Thigh Area, Nosuitable T For Downhill.

I ride a Onewheel on mountain trails and need something with the same level of protection mountain bikers can get. These shorts are perfect – they stay in place, they are snug and comfortable, and are not a problem at all while riding.

They are easy to get on and off, not a problem to clean (which I do by hand). I really appreciate the padding for the tailbone. At this point, wouldn’t ride challenging terrain without them. These help me not worry so much about falling – which is a big advantage.

I was looking for impact shorts that were not bulky and these are great. The padding on the outer thighs are just enough for slides and falls. The padding in the crotch is minimal and doesn’t feel like a typical chammy which is awesome because I am sitting on my saddle at the bike park.

The only reason I gave these 4 stars is because I was j go opting for more padding on the inner thigh, which I believe an older model had. The picture of the product had that inner thigh padding, but apparently TLD discontinued it.

I’m still happy with the shorts though.

Bought this in May 2021. Chamois is almost none existent. Luckily I bought this one size larger so wear regular Chamois underneath. With this combo I don’t notice it at all while riding. Pad placement is excellent so there’s no restrictions.

Perfect for prevention of road rash. That’s why I bought it. Those hip burns are a pain to recover from so this helps.

I purchased these for my husband. He’s an OFG motocrosser and downhill racer. He loves the fitment. Although he found them a bit bulky for climbing on the MTB and the seat padding isn’t great in the saddle, he absolutely loves them on the drirty bike and they also work great under his leathers on the street and track! He said they really save his butt! Worth the price.

Just received these shorts today. They look like they will work good for my son but they didn’t come with a cup like the description says it would. They have a pocket on the inside for a cup to slide into but nothing there or in the packaging.

C’mon Man!.

It took a few tries to find the right fit and brand, but these are fantastic. My 10 y/o son now has two pair of these and loves them They fit comfortably and have been great for his sliding. He’s not a big fan of the cup provided, so he uses a different cup (which fits just fine in the shorts).

I’d definately purchase again.

Adequate padding on the hips for sliding. Quality construction and will hold up through being washed 2-4 times a week. My son is a catcher and very picky about the fit. He loves these. He has tried Nike, Rawling, and Under Armour.

As a new XC skier, I hurt my hip pretty bad 2 seasons ago on an icy downhill, which cut my season short. I purchased these shorts early this past season in the hopes that I would make it through the season uninjured, and they delivered not just for XC skiing, but also as I started to learn to ice skate this season.

I’ve taken quite a few falls (especially on the ice) this season, but I haven’t suffered so much as a single bruise. These shorts are amazing, and I credit them for an injury-free season as I learn new winter sports.

I didn’t think I need one of those after many snowboarding seasons without any major accidents. But this winter I fell pretty bad on the icy section right on my tailbone and it was unbearable pain. So I immediately started looking online for tailbone protection and came across these shorts.

Luckily, I haven’t fallen anymore, but what I can say right now after a few rides is that they feel pretty comfortable and I forget that I have them, that’s a good thing. I’m not that naive to think they’ll protect me from anything, but from what I can see – they’ll definitely lower the impact if needed.

Won’t hit slopes without this shorts in the future!.

Great protection over my base layer. I love that these things can also be put in the washing machine. They’re not too big and bulky that they’re noticeable underneath my snow clothes, but it does provide some decent protection.

Bought for mountain bike rather than snowboard as are a fraction of the price of bike specific impact shorts and am impressed. Good value. Well made. Padding where needed. What more needs saying.

Wonderful pants, easy to wear all day long on the slopes….they do the job very easy..they keep you safe and leave you freedom of movement.

Provides protection in the right places for what I need (skateboarding). Could probably have gotten away with a Medium (I’m about a 33 waist) but better too large than too small. Too early to offer opinion on durability but have a hard time believing they won’t hold up long enough for me to feel confident without them.

Def recommend.

The product is light weight and will give needed protection. I roller blade on our street with all the other safety gear. This was simply an added plus of protection.

I bought a cheap one on Amazon and had the classic “buy cheap, buy twice” moment when it was itchy as hell. This one was a butt saver on my 2 week snowboarding holiday, and it is comfy which was also very important.

I only gave 4 star as the spacing between the padded parts was big enough for me to fall in one particular direction injuring my sit bone. A week later and my butt is okay, but this sure saved me from further injury to my tail bone and other parts in that area.

It didn’t improve my snowboarding, but it did give me peace of mind if I fell. I also recommend using knee pads, wrist guards, and a helmet for snowboarding if you’re new.

Make sure your pants can take in all that extra padding or you might buy extra size but its great product!

These are nice looking Bib shorts, but fit was a little small and tight for a large. I was also disappointed by the smaller surface area and thickness of the chamois. I wore these a couple of times for 35-50 mile rides and comfort faded quickly compared to others that I have.

The chamois is thinner than I expected and doesn’t seem to hold up as well as expected. Mesh pockets are nice but perhaps a bit too deep but I do like the mesh design with the neon green. I have purchased other bib shorts at this price point or less and they have been very good fit and feel better for the longer rides.

Excellent: They don’t move or roll while riding; the spenders or straps doesn’t pull your body; love the mesh side pockets for id, snacks, keys, gloves; tall set doesn’t squeeze your thighs; the gel pad covers the sit bone well; as warms up they rides better; you can wear long sleeve gear without jersey; I am going to rock a orange UA warm gear long sleeve with the black.

Con: taking a #1 or #2 don’t wait until the last minute; Position your package well if one of your boys moved to the side of the pad you will get squeezed because of the excellent fit; a little pricey; only one color I am going to order the gel short (non bib) pair (doesn’t come tall) but has a draw string just to check them out.

Aero tech Design has outstanding customer service. I paid to have my package shipped to me by FedEx the package was stuck in Tennessee somewhere for over two weeks. I called Aero Tech Designs and they shipped me another order immediately.

They are easy to talk to even put me on the list for the items that were out-of-stock. Five stars.

I got the cycle bib shorts in 3X and 4X tall, one black and 2 yellows. The 4X is actually a bit too roomy for me, but I’m keeping both anyway. I just re-ordered the 3X tall with the yellow panels. I like the yellow panels because I hope that they will make me visible to drivers.

(Yes, drivers should be responsible for seeing bicyclists. Bicyclists shouldn’t have to worry about being visible. But the riding environment is what it is. ) All of these shorts really are cut tall.

The shoulder straps really are long enough. And they are roomy enough around the middle. Comfortable pad in the seat. They’ve been through the wash a few times and seem to be holding up well. Thanks for producing these.

Real world review of the 661 Evo Compression Chamois. My wife and I each bought a pair of these to go with our 661 Evo Compression jackets for the downhill bike park. Unlike a lion share of reviews great fit would buy again.

Well we tested these, one OTB in a rock garden (20-30MPH) and a OTB at 30+MPH in a very rocky and steep downhill run. I can this, anywhere we had on the 661 protection we had no bruising at all. Plenty of bruising everywhere else though.

The Evo Compression Chamois stayed in place and did not ride up from either OTB and neither did the Evo Compression jacket. The Compression Chamois was not hot and rode all day (temps approx 85) and same with the Compression Jacket.

Both items stay in place during downhill runs and did not ride up on the legs or back. Positives – Crash tested works fantastic D30 worked as advertised – Was not hot to ride in (maybe in the 90’s you would get hot) – Comfortable – True to size Negatives – Wish it had more protection on both items (as in more D30 in strategic places) -PADLOCK connection system, its a great idea but just did not fit right when used (the compression jacket and chamois would overlap by about an inch when used.

However after the crashes not sure if I would use the system since both items stayed in place. ).

Great protection, very well made. They are longer than other armored shorts and give more protection down the thigh. I was a little concerned that they would be uncomfortable or too warm on hotter days, but so far, no issues.

I appreciate the women’s fit as well. Reasonable price. I like them so much I bought a pair for my friend.

I used these shorts for motorcycle trail riding under my motocross pants and after washing out my front wheel on Sandy gravel and falling off the bike with considerable force, the shorts gave me a huge hematoma on my hip from the D30 foam hardening on impact and distributing the force over a larger area.

Worked like a charm. Broke my collarbone in 2 places but thankfully, not my hip. Don’t even hesitate buying these. Love them.

Pros: Lighter than regular auto-inflate. Good size. Good weight. Very packable. Cons: Left it open for over an hour and it never fully inflated. Closed the valves to check it out. mat is only 1/4″ thick.

Under no load, it looks almost 2″ thick, but there is nothing there for lift. Thought it might make a decent camping air mattress. Upon attempting to add a little air. found the cloth around the valve was not completely glued.

It leaks. Conclusion: If you can blow it up a little (like an air mattress), it might work as a lightweight sleep mat. Won’t try to return it. I”ll repair the leak around the valve (Goop it) and let the kids play with it in the pool.

Good TV Box, needs more RAM and also double the internal storage space would be useful. It works ok, but is sometimes slow, and I get jitter, out of sync picture/audio and some lock ups. Anyways, this will work out fine for a while, and has been fun tinkering with it.

I would recommend it to most people.

Very happy with the purchase. I had my boyfriend setting it up because it has such an extensive menu that you get lost if you don’t know where to go first. Lots and lots of stuff for everyone, tv series, sports, games.

You just have to take the time to go through the multi menu and get used to it. Recommended!.

All necessary tools comes in the box except batteries for the remote. But the HDMI cord can be interchangeable. The Apps available are easy to use. The android box is small enough to fit anywhere.

The product is Awsome and cool. I know there are others out there that work better but hey it’s cool to me and you don’t need any cable. I do wish tv came with it so I can watch my shoes but it’s ok it’s still fun.

I wear these for relearning the ropes on the bmx bike skatepark. Concrete is not nearly as forgiving as dirt on the singletrack with my mtb lol. The fit of these shorts is excellent and padding is thin enough to not be noticed under a pair of shorts, but still durable enough to be confidence inspiring.

I honestly forget I’m wearing them once I start riding. I would highly recommend any product from this brand.

Extremely small. My son was excited for the “relaxed fit” but they were so small he couldn’t even get them on. Unfortunately we need to return them

Super happy with these third pair. My son has plates and screws in his femur. These help protect his scaring on his leg at baseball. Only down fall is the price, I have to skip a car payment each year when I buy them.

I crash enough that I need pads. This is the new version of the padded liner. The hip pads are generous and unobtrusive. The chamois pad seems a little better secured over the past model. I’ve had those for a year plus and I have to wrangle the pad back into position after each wash.

Hopefully these will stay put. My only complaint is that these now need an overshort because the fabric is open enough to put my junk on full display. The last model was more like road shorts with pads.

These are 100% liners now. I would buy again.

These liner shorts have a great chamois that I find very comfortable on my MTB. I only ride about 90 minutes to 2 hours at a time, but always with climbing, descents, etc. I had one washout fall while wearing them under Fox Defend pants, and they protected my hips as intended.

The fit overall is great, no worries about the padding fitting under shorts or pants and they stay in place. Bonus, they have two small pockets on the legs. I highly recommend these liner shorts both for proaction and comfort.

These G-form shorts tick almost all of the boxes. Surprisingly comfortable thick chamois, adds another level to your suspension! they fit to size ( I am XL) and they do not ride up the thigh or over restrict my waist).

I would give them five stars if they also had a tail bone for protector.

Sizing is the issue. I’m a normal fit, curvy, mature mountain biker. Bought these for dirt biking. Disappointed that the waist doesn’t stay up and the area for the buttocks is too short. Since men often have almost no butt and women almost always do, this is not logical to me.

I’m going to try a men’s pair since they were more comfortable. Love the waist look on the more feminine but you need to follow the more typical gender shapes. So hard to find great women specific gear!.

I have a pretty standard body. The waist in this sits low, for me, it should come all the way up the natural waistline. Legs are baggy. I’m 5’4″, 145 lbs, for reference. Had to exchange the original one ordered.

I based that order off of their size charts. They make you pay for the return shipping, to exchange it. For $100, G Form should do free exchanges.

Comfortable, the pads stay in place (unlike G-Forms slip-in pads). I like the little leg pockets but only for something soft in case one lands on it. I bought a second pair after using the first pair for a week.

I’m disappointed. That I only bought the one pair! I’ve not been able to justify the cost of “proper” cycling shorts. Previously having the cheaper option, and they’ve been ok. But these from Endura are a game changer.

3 stars seems too mean and 4 should be reserved for superb stuff. These shorts will be 3 stars for some and 4 for others. I would buy again. Bought them to go with Enduro Humvee convertible trousers.

Total of 12 poppers to attach to trousers and sometimes one or two poppers un-pop when putting them on when attached to trousers first which is pretty good. Don’t buy the same size trousers as the shorts – the trousers need to be one size bigger than the shorts / liner to make room for the waistband of the liner.

I bought large shorts, XL trousers. My waist is 32 – 34 inch. The padding sort of does the trick, but haven’t tried it on a hard saddle, only a soft gel saddle.

I recently purchased Patagonia’s cycling liners. I wear them under more loose fitting shorts on my daily commute. I prefer not to wear spandex to my workplace. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the fit and attention to detail of the Patagonia liners.

While I have used Patagonia clothing for decades off the bike, I wasn’t sure what their bike-specific item would be like. The pad is extremely comfortable. The fit is spot-on. The breathable material works very well.

Combined with the shorts I wear over them, I don’t overheat, and the liner doesn’t move up my thighs. They stay put and make my commute even more enjoyable. I highly recommend these liners for serious and casual cyclists alike.

I average 150-200 miles a week and am now a convert to Patagonia’s cycling clothing.

Critical to go a size down if you’re in the entry zone of next size up. I’m 34 waist but the recommended large was huge and consequently the padding felt like a diaper. Dropping down to medium solves problem even though pad appeared to be same size as it’s now positioned correctly fore and aft.

Like the sheer nature of extensive side panels as cooling air circulates in the gap between liners and stretch nylon shorts. These liners pair great with the 10 inch Quandary shorts BTW; liners don’t show on ride and you have a nice tailored looking pair of shorts if you stop for coffee or recovery beer post ride.

I’ve ridden for quite a while now and have somehow never felt like I needed the extra comfort of a chamois. until I really started logging those long miles. Decided to give these a shot under my regular riding shorts, and I’m a believer.

Super comfortable, the chamois fits quite nicely. A little awkward to walk around in, but that’s fine. I’ll definitely be throwing these on for those long days in the saddle. Thanks for the great product.

I’m 6’3”, 210lbs and the large fits great.

These shorts are snug and supportive. I’ve only ridden a few times so far while wearing them, so I don’t have long-term experience with them. The side pockets are an interesting idea, but probably not useful for more than a gel pack or energy bar.

One weird thing I’ve noticed is that when riding uphill, the shorts rubbing against my saddle (a Terry Fly Gel saddle, leather surface) make a squeaking sound, like when cleaning a window. None of my other shorts do that.

It must have something to do with the fabric they’re made of. I tend to wear holes in shorts on the inside of the thigh where my legs rub against the side of the saddle. I hope these shorts last a while before that happens.

The fabric is great because it is polyester not nylon. The fabric in my nylon Lycra shorts deteriorates after a couple of years. From what I have read the polyester should be more resistant to this. The other great thing is the chamois.

If you want to relieve pressure on an area, you don’t put the thickest padding there since that just increases the pressure. This chamois is actually thinner where I get sore and that makes a lot of difference.

I have 5 different pairs of shorts and these are by far the most comfortable. Thanks REI. I do find they run smaller than other brands as my others are smalls and I need a medium in these. I plan to get some 3/4 length and some long ones.

For MTB I went without liners for a while, but after having used them for a few seasons I wont ride without them. These are good entry level liners. If your rides as under 2 hours, in my experience these are great.

I only MTB and don’t road bike so I dont have any feedback on that. I have an older version that didn’t have the side pockets. I think they are a nice addition, though since I wear MTB pants with plenty of pockets I don’t have a use for them.

Yes, after or before the ride, it is a bit awkward wearing them. You do feel like you are wearing a diaper, but nobody can tell so there is no need to be insecure about it. I have a few pairs and wash them after every ride and they have held up very well.
