20 Best Pads For Heavy Periods (2022 Updated)

I’ve always been an Always user but decided to change it up and purchased these pads and I’ll say I’m pretty happy with it. Compared to the Always ultra thins, this brand’s “ultra thin” is definitely a little thicker than I’m used to but overall not a big deal.

I’ll be honest I’ don’t really care, personally, that this is chlorine free and free of dyes or fragrances etc but I am trying to be more green in my life so I do appreciate that is sustainably made with bioplastic for the backing sheet and all cotton.

Small changes add up and while I’m not ready/interested in using a diva cup or reusable pads I feel like this is the right product for me that’s the next step in my eco-friendlier mission in life. I’m on birth control so my periods are pretty light now so for my purposes this suits me well.

The size is just right, I never had an issue with leaking and the adhesive does a good job in sticking on. I do wish the wings were a little wider, if that makes sense, as I did notice a time or two that the pad/wings didn’t cover as much surface as would have made me comfortable but I never had an issue with leaks so in the end it was a nonissue.

I’m glad I have several boxes to go through as I am happy with this product. I also will note that I think the overall packaging is super cute- its nice to have something softly colored and elegant in design and not something that almost fluorescent in color that screams PERIOD, lol.

This was the first natural pad brand I opted to try after reading many reviews. I was surprised it worked as well as it did. I would just suggest one thing, to make one that is slightly longer with a larger back area for overnight.

For some reason mine and my daughter’s flow tends to migrate while we sleep, so it would be awesome to have a natural pad that would keep it contained. Also, I haven’t been seeing the ones I’ve purchased before (heavy with wings) in a few months in the two Walmarts in my area.

Not sure what’s up with that.

I am a very sensitive person. Using the wrong tampon brand/pad brand will make me have a instant yeast infection. This has been a thing since I was a teenager unfortunately. So over the years I’ve bought all the new and improved products… I always thought always flex foam cotton pads were amazing but after trying these I was so wrong.

The hold alot and are exceptionally soft and durable. The cotton Makes them so flexible and absorbent. I went out on a limb and bought a box of theses, their tampons and their panty liners and I am impressed.

No signs of irritation to my skin and feel cleaner using them knowing they don’t have bad stuff in them.

The Always Maxi Size 3 Extra Long Super Pads with Wings, Unscented. Are 100 % leak-free comfort. I love these Always Maxi Size 3 Extra Long Super Pads with Wings. They are very soft and comfortable compared to the pads that I have been using throughout the past years.

I love that these Always Maxi leak-free pads are Unscented because I am allergic to most scented materials. I noticed that the always pads keep you dry longer and it helps me be more comfortable especially when leaving my home to go to work or run tasks because the pad itself is really comfortable and I don’t have to worry about an accident on my clothes because these Always Maxi Pads that are 100% Leak-Free.

I actually prefer these pads over most name brand ones. I was hesitant at first to try these pads as they were not name brand and I thought the quality would be poor. I was very wrong. These pads are super absorbent.

I only change them once when I wake up and once before I sleep. The pads are super long too, so they prevent leaks. These pads are thick compared to most name brands ones, but I actually prefer the thickness.

These are the only pads I ever wear to sleep.

I know right now many companies are trying to save money; but when it comes to women very products “These products SHOULD NOT” be altered unless you’re changing to make it better and more secure! I’ve been using these for the last 5 yrs or more and this is the first time I’ve ever had anything to get on my underwear in the middle straight through the pad! And when I take them off the parts that sticks has started to stick to my underwear and won’t come off! And I’m very cautious and don’t keep a pad on too long! This SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING! Equate “YOU MUST DO BETTER”.

While these have a similar length and thickness, the absorbency is much different than the Always Overnights. The top layer doesn’t absorb well for heavy days(2-3). So much so that I end up having to change the pad way too frequently.

It literally spreads over the pad and doesn’t absorb. This leads to leakage down the side wings. These might be cheaper but pay the $2 more and get the Always. I’ve never had a problem with them.

Excuse the pun, but Always is a brand I always trusted. Until I felt comfortable using anything but pads, Always was the best brand then and holds its own now. I use regular pads on heavier flow days to minimize leakage but they were never entirely comfortable.

They’ve come a long way to arrive at what they are now. They flex and feel like cloth, no crinkly diaper noises at all. The absorbent layer looks cottony but looks stronger like a craft foam. I actually tested the absorbency with water and was pretty impressed by how quickly it absorbed and, as long as it’s not at capacity, does maintain a surprisingly dry feel.

This usually means it’s better at trapping odor although I can’t confirm that. The adhesive is actually a lot stronger than it used to be but still easy to reposition until you press it more firmly. It’s not going to destroy your underwear taking it off, assuming you’re not wearing delicates like silk or lace, but I would never risk the ‘good underwear’ with that experiment anyway.

Leaks do happen. Sometimes the way we sleep can actually cause leaks to bypass tampons and pads (yes, that’s definitely happened). However, with well fitting underwear, this design definitely minimizes this risk.

I love the Fit chart that helps you decide what size to get based on your personal size and flow. It can help you establish a baseline until you get to know which ones are best for you. Because of the design, these look like they’d be great for light incontinence issues too, but a full bladder holds a lot more liquid than a full uterus so I’d stick with light, like if you have the tendency to pee a little with sneezing, coughing or laughing.

It’s a terrific design though so no matter your needs, this will be a good choice for hygiene and efficiency. I’ll definitely keep these around as my backup for heavy flow. They’re much more breathable than period underwear.

I use Size 1 pads on the days leading up to my period and in its early stages when it is very light. I love trying out different products because that’s the only way to know for sure, what will work for you and what won’t.

I wanted to give these pads a try because they have “flexfoam” and I wanted to experience that first hand. I wanna start by saying the packaging is nice and modern. It’s very informative and tells me everything I need to know right there.

The pads themselves have a thin but kinda foam-like feel. They are soft to the touch and the foam screams “better protection from leaks”. They are easy to apply and the process is what you would expect from a feminine pad.

They are very comfortable, didn’t bunch up, and there was no sliding or unwanted movements. The foam really does move with you and because of that, the pad stays in place. They are so lightweight and thin that it really feels like nothing is there and that’s great and scary at the same time!!! Again, I do think these are great for light days or someone who generally has lighter periods.

For me, I wouldn’t be able to wear them overnight or on heavy days but they would suit me just fine on my lighter days. The foam really does help the pad stay in place, I didn’t have any leaks or felt uncomfortable, and most of all I was able to complete my usual daily tasks without worrying about my pad.

Finding the perfect pads is sometimes overwhelming, Alot of them either leak or dont have enough coverage , and more often than not , uncomfortable! The Always Infinity Regular Pads With Wings is definitely the complete opposite than any of that! These are hands down the best pads I’ve used thus far ! They are the perfect length and thickness , not too thick , but not too thin ! The wings help them stay into place and not sliding around every time you move ! And the flexibility of these pads are far more than words can explain!! You can get scented or unscented, but I love the scent free because sometimes scents can cause irritation for some people ! The title says it all. These are god tier pads if you have super heavy periods. If you struggle with blood crawling up your crack and causing stains in the back of your underwear, these are the answer.

I’ve used them for like 4 years now and I’ve never looked back. One thing I’ve seen people fail to mention is how much better these are then the Always ones are texture-wise. I tried the Always ultra thin overnight pads and the edge didn’t have any adhesive so it was just itching my butt the whole night, on top of having this odd, almost plastic texture.

These don’t do that, you put them down, and bam! All the edges stay flat and leave your poor booty alone when you’re trying to sleep. The only complaint is that sometimes the adhesive sticks to the bottom of some of my underwear near the crotch area so I have to rip it off and it leaves behind some of the pad.

I then have to spend like 10 minutes trying to remove it and struggling because the adhesive literally has glued itself onto my underwear. It’s only with this one very specific set of polyester undies though, so for most people this shouldn’t be an issue.

If you wear cotton underwear like you’re supposed to, these come off like a dream. The protection they offer outweighs the annoyance I feel when I have to remove the adhesive though, and not even once have I considered changing the brand of pads I use.

BUY THESE!!!!!.

I recently tried kotex brand for the coupon incentives as being a new mom period poverty is real. I have always been brand loyal to my last company but here are some pros/cons I’ve noticed. Kotex is much softer and i get less irritation from rubbing against my skin.

I fond kotex to always have good sales and coupons to help with cost. My only complaint is the adhesive is not strong enough on most to properly stay in place. I always choose “with wings” but find that it shifts causing leaks which is sad because inwould love to remain brand loyal to you.

If you could improve this inwould shout KOTEX ONLY from the mountain tops !!!! Your truly. a heavy bleeder.

Yesterday, I bought the Kotex pads for heavy periods and I have been leaking through almost all of them. It’s day one which is normally a little heavier for me, so the absorbency level “heavy” is usually perfect.

However, this new design is way too thin with very little absorbency. It’s as if the liquid just rolls off. It’s like and extra large panty liner. Wtf!! This is a real vagina here, not a flat plastic doll that sits in one position all day.

I have to add a layer of toilet tissue for extra protection which completely defeats the purpose. If you (Kotex) are running low on cotton, just say that! I’ve gone through so many pads in just one day! Ridiculous!!.

I am 45 years old, and I have recommended these tampons to everyone I know ever since going through many others and finding these to be THE MOST SUPERIOR on the market, but now I can’t find them on the shelves! The paper applicators by competitors chafe the skin and do not slide in easily, whereas these plastic applicators have no issue.

The shape of the top also help with insertion. The length of the applicator is sufficiently long enough to get the tampon where it needs to go for such a TALL person as myself, but the only thing now on the shelves by Kotex is a tiny, compact applicator that is not sufficiently long enough.

I would only consider purchasing the compact version in an emergency, which seeing my favorite product no longer on the shelves counted as. Even the website has an Accessibility wheelchair on my screen indicating that these company values people’s differences.

This seemed to include feminine needs until recently. The larger radius of the applicator was easy to grip for someone with arthritis. As I have already started, the longer applicator is absolutely necessity for an average tall woman like me (I’m 5′ 7″), which means there’s a lot more distance and space to cover for a proper seal.

Lastly, the past two tampons I have tried since the discontinuation of these are simply not staying put, which causes active discomfort and leakage, the two things this product never caused. I’m don’t know if it’s because of the overall shape of the tampon after inserting and absorbing, it again because I have more difficulty getting other products far enough in there.

Regardless, this product was by far the most successful product I have ever found, and now it’s being discontinued??? This is an awful business decision. I thought this was simply a supply chain problem as a result of the pandemic, like so many other empty shelves are, but after noticing there wasn’t even a space on the shelves for this product, I decided to go searching online and found this website and the other reviews and questions of like-minded women.

I am perfectly happy to take the time and leave such a lengthy review spelling it all of the reasons that this product needs to be brought back to market. Because of the reasons mentioned above, I would happily pay twice as much for this product over a similar product, because it is simply THAT MUCH MORE SUPERIOR.

For the love of the women out there like me and other reviewers, PLEASE BRING BACK THIS PRODUCT!.

By discontinuing the best tampon on the market you are making the biggest mistake ever! You are making a disastrous mistake that is comparable to Coca-Cola coming out with New Coke. What a joke they were & what a joke you now are.

Already that is as clear as day as I read the crazy about of reviews from women that are just like me. Women who have heavy monthly flows & were lucky enough to have found the perfect tampon & now are crushed to find that it’s been discontinued.

If you were in age reversal you would of found the perfect solution, because of you discontinuing your Security line & super plus tampons I now feel like I have gone 25 plus years back & am a teenage once again suffering from embarrassing leaks from heavy flows.

As a women nearing 40 I do not want to feel young again in that aspect, be back in a time before I discovered your Security Super Plus tampons. With the discontinuing I have tried your so called replacement tampons & feel as though I would have to shove 3 of them up there to even have the protection that I once had with one Security Super Plus tampon.

I have searched high & low for any remaining boxes in reasonable prices & bought all I could, but once my stash is up I will move away from your company due to your current products no longer holding up to my satisfaction & needs.

I have as well as others tried other brands & yet they don’t compare to what you foolishly discontinued, but I will say at least the other brands are better than your current products. I have been a loyal customer for over 25 years & what have you done in return? No warning, no heads up, no nothing, you just discontinued a very good product & then you try to dust it under the rug.

Just do what Coca-Cola did & admit to your foolishness & say you made the biggest marketing mistake in tampons ever & reinstate production of the Security product line, especially the Security Super Plus tampons.

I love and trust U by Kotex but I am appalled that the same people who use these products to help the needy also takes advantage of those who do buy the product which is severely overpriced. We are coming up even short on things in stock and this company still affiliates with different companies to proce gouge in my personal opinion.

No feminine product should be taxed nor cost so much for a problem that is medically necessary and a problem that happens to women monthly. The kind of standards this company and along any other company they choose to use to sell their products are low class.

No woman especially these days cannot afford much less find the kind they can trust without worrying about how much it is going to come to. No woman should ever feel that type of embarrassment so let us end the taboo subject since everything else in the world seems to not care about what they do anymore and yet companies like you still make it a private embarrassment.

I speak up for these woman who are homeless, struggling, or whatever the case maybe even I cannot afford this all the time like I should be able to. Every woman should have pain free, guilt free, access to this type of stuff.

It’s not our fault. We should already be way ahead by now. I will also let you know to that your pads can be a bit better at absorbing and soaking up in the meantime. Being so you basically rob people of their finances the least you can do is provide better quality.

I’m a convert! I bought the largest size (heavy flow) because I have always struggled with nighttime leaks on heavy flow days. And whilst it is a little bulky, it isn’t much bigger than the largest disposable pad available.

It works SO much better and is a lot more comfortable than any plastic pad. The press studs hold it firmly in place, the material is comfortable, the absorption is amazing. No movement, no leaks, better for the environment.

I might buy a smaller one.

These bamboo pads have actually changed my life! Super absorbent, easy to fasten together, and they wash up beautifully. I no longer have skin irritation or worry about having plastic so close to my skin at a very sensitive time of the month! Wonderful not to have waste going into the rubbish bin too.

I didn’t receive the “user manual” or a pouch, the pad just arrived on its own in a huge box which i thought was unnecessary. Disappointed that I paid £11 and didn’t get a pouch with it as well as described on this site.

Would’ve been nice to have the manual but that was missing. Other than that it is comfortable to use but way overpriced.

These are the best pads I have found in length. They are actually long enough to do the job and stop leaks. Slightly let down that they feel slightly rough compared to other brands. They could also do with updating their wrappers for disposal as other brands have and make it more convenient.

The little tab isn’t enough to the use wrapped product together. It comes open in the bin which is embarrassing. They’d do well to look at some of their competitors packaging styles who have moved on from a little tab.

It’s a good product though and does the job.

If like me you’re someone who needs to pad your underwear with absolute military precision or risk losing your pad either between the cheeks as it screws up into the infamous “Farfalle of doom”, or sticks itself down your leg ready to ambush when you’re on the throne, these are an absolute Godsend.

Strong enough to stay put, long enough to catch even a super heavy flow, and breathable enough that you can bypass the worst of the sauna effect. I love and die by the winged pads. I couldn’t be without them, the comfort and security is second to none.

With Always ultra, I know what I purchase. I feel very secure that I’ll get through the night without any issues. The wings are great. They stick enough to be fully secured in place, without leading to those horrible moments where the pad is completely stuck to your undies.

Whenever I am on the lookout for sanitary pads, Whisper is the name that first comes to mind. This latest offering by Whisper is just as lovely as the previous versions I have used and loved. The pads are long and wide, thanks to which you do not have to worry about leakage or stains.

They are thin and light, very comfortable to wear. The absorbency is really, really good – you can use these in those days of heavy flow, and forget all about it. These pads also come with an odour lock gel, which takes care of any unpleasant smells.

As the health-conscious mother of two young daughters, I feel it is my responsibility as their mother to expose them to healthy personal care products. So when I was given the opportunity to try (#forfree!) and review organic period products by TOP and Smiley360, I was more than excited.

I received a box of regular absorpancy tampons, a box of pantyliners, and a box of pads. Because I received them very quickly, I was able to test the products throughout 2 period cycles. The pads were ok, but were no different in functionality than any other I have tried.

Unfortunately, the tampons were not enough protection for me, resulting in leakage every time I used them. Additionally, a couple of the tampons had issues with the strings being very unraveled when opened, rendering them unusable.

I couldn’t say for sure if my experience would have been better had I had a box of super absorbent tampons. As a result of my experience, I wouldn’t recommend these for girls who are just starting out, as they already fear leakage and embarrassment, and may need a more reliable product.

They may serve better for women with lighter periods who require less protection.

I got this product since I have never tried it before. But I didn’t like the size of the pad. I need more protection to avoid staining my underwear. I still used them but two pads each time to make them longer.

Liked that it didn’t have a weird fragrance. And I can get rid of the used pads without a problem. The pads are great for people who care about the environment and sustainable practices. The packaging shows how much flow the pad can tolerate.

Another thing I liked about them is the thickness of the pad, it is not noticeable. And the pad dries fast and feels comfortable.

I really like how the packaging clearly breaks down the contents of each part of the pad, and packaging, including if it’s recyclable. These pads are surprising thin, and have no unnecessary packaging.

They are a nice size, but shorter than most overnight pads Im used to, but still sufficient for average flow. They stick well and don’t bunch up with use. The top layer (that touches your skin) is soft, but it does crumble up and stick to my skin leaving bits behind.

Overall, it’s nice to know they leave a smaller footprint on the planet.

I started my period really early and most of my family and friends always used pads but I was never one who liked pads. I tried so many other tampons I hated all the other ones, and I could never find one that worked for me until I found kotex.

I am now 48. And just recently could not find the regular Kotex tampons anywhere in the stores. I went to three stores one night looking for Kotex regular tampons and all I could find were these ridiculous click tampons.

I am so disappointed that you all have discontinued these tampons. The click tampons are uncomfortable and messy and when you are out and about and not in your home this is a very unsanitary, unclean, messy option as the applicator is not long enough to insert the tampon into your body.

Thank God I had some spare that I left at work. And I’m coming to the end of my journey. Because I would be devastated if I couldn’t purchase these Kotex tampons anymore. I read so many reviews of people being so disappointed that you switched to The click tampons I was trying to find a way to thumbs up them all.

This was the worst mistake ever. It is very uncomfortable and it’s not good. I found a box on Amazon and I pray that It is actually the product that I need and I think 96 will take me on out. But for everyone else’s sake who are still having a cycle you need to go back to the other tampons.

Keep those active ones for people who do like the click but these were one of the last regular size tampons that you can hold and not get messy and still get the job done. There’s absolutely no way a woman came up with this or a woman had the final say.

I’m so absolutely disappointed.

I have been using the Stayfree Ultra Thin Overnight Pads with wings for almost 30 years now. I never had to worry about leaking at night or during the day. These new white pads have been HORRIBLE! They just don’t absorb.

My daughter and I have flooded the pads in a very short amount of time and it has bled out into mine and my daughter’s clothing. I have had to get up and change in the middle of the night because they no longer protect like they used to.

I can’t even sleep well because of the worry of leaking out (which HAS happened multiple times now). A couple hour car trip has turned into a nightmare of worry now because they leak right out over the wings.

I happened to find a pack of the discontinued ones at our store the other day and was so relieved to be able to have one cycle without this new worry. Also, the new way of wrapping constantly gets little balls of adhesive on my hands.

Ick! PLEASE go back to the longer and more absorbent pads from before. They were so good and there was no reason to change them!.

I have only ever purchased Stayfree Ultra thin overnights because my periods are extremely heavy. For over 2 decades I have used them. Just this last period I noticed a change in the overnight 40 count.

The leak guard zones were gone. The purple wrapper was adhered straight to the pad and tabs so it would sometimes crinkle to the point I had to chuck it because it wouldn’t stay in place. Im not giving a 5 star for these new ones, they get a 2 or less.

They were also not as absorbent as the previous ones have been as I woke up drenched whereas on the night zone ones I could wear one pad all night 9pm-8am and it would be full but still have some room.

I hope that these new none night zones are not the way that Stayfree plans to go. Bring back my good night zone overnights.
