20 Best Pencils For Note Taking (2022 Updated)

I bought this 2-pack of Tul mechanical pencils for my granddaughter who’s in 5th grade. Her hand always ‘cramps’ when she has to write a lot, so I thought I would try these since they have a slightly thicker barrel that has a soft, non-slip grip.

She says they are super comfortable to hold and write with, and that the led is dark enough so she doesn’t have to press down as hard to write. She’s super happy with them. They write very smoothly, and the lead advances easily.

The lead is also very strong and does not break, like most mechanical pencils. Another cool feature is that you can twist the eraser up or down, to advance more eraser as you use it up. The erasers are great because they erase completely and very cleanly, and leave no smear marks.

They also have a little ‘clip’ on them, like pocket pens have, in case you need to clip them on a notebook or something. They come in nice color combo sets. My grandaughter loves the pink and purple set.

Overall, probably the smoothest writing pencil with the most comfortable grip you can find. I definitely recommend this for it’s comfort-grip barrel and excellent performance.

I have purchased several Tul pencils and like them. I wanted the white to match my white Tul pens. I like them and they function great just like other Tul pencils, but the white does tend to get dirty looking.

It’s not terrible yet, but I notice pencil smudges more than anything. I just keep wiping them off, but I’m concerned that will ruin the grippy-style finish on the barrel eventually. Otherwise, great pencil!.

I absolutely love these pencils. This is my second pack of 2, and I am very happy with both purchases right now. The pen is easy to hold and writes very smoothly. No bumps or indentations on my finger from using it for too long.

And it seems to hold up well to dirt. I got away from pencils with the grips because they got dirty. So far these don’t appear to show the dirt and get all gross after continued use. A+ for these.

I like this new pencil and the lead size. I was hoping it would have been a little shorter though. Pilot stopped making the G2 mini mechanical which I liked because it fits nicely in the lapel of my work polos.

The Sakura pencil is a bit too long and heavy for that use. It does work well with my clipboard though.

This pencil is a great alternative to the Sanford pencil that I have used for over 20 years. To buy a new Sanford would have cost over $30, but the Sumo has all the same features including the large eraser at a much lower cost.

The triangle grip is larger than on the Sanford and helps prevent your fingers from tiring or cramping. Love it.

Love these pencils. They feel comfortable in my hand. They have great erasers that don’t leave a dark mark after using them. And you don’t have to sharpen them!

Ok first of all, I am not exaggerating at all. All of my friends who have written with this pencil always asked where you bought it from. This pencil is seriously a game changer, sooooo smooth and never smudges my writing.

I have done all my math and chem hw with this and its just such a satisfying and smooth pencil to write with. The way its so light makes it amazing to grip on to and do loads of writing without hands cramping.

I picked these to share them with my daughter, we buy mechanical pencils just about every time we do our household shopping. She loves doing homework with them as, they are not allowed to have them at school.

The lead on these writes very smoothly and the eraser does erase very clean. I didn’t have much breakage with the lead either. I would say the build of the pencil is strong, not flimsy and the grip is nice.

The container with the extra lead and erasers works well, I like that it’s all together. Personally, the side clic makes it feel awkward for me to hold the pencil. I keep feeling like my fingers are on the clickers.

I prefer a traditional clic, not close to where I hold the pencil. My daughter however, has small fingers and does not seem to see an issue with this. So, holding it comfortably may depend on the size of your hands or personal preference.

Overall, I would probably recommend these BIC pencils to children or adults with smaller hands.

I was happy about an adorable little case that encapsulates the pencil lead and eraser refills but ecstatic when I discovered the eraser has a cap on it too. The design and little extras that Bic provides with this mechanical pencil are just what someone like me needs.

Perfect for the people in your life who are neat freaks, highly organized, and even those who have OCD. LOVE IT!.

I bought the 3 piece-set thinking using them for my sketching. I have used different brands of pencils over the years since I was little, from very expensive ones like the blue Staedtler Mars Lumogragh ones to cheap school pencils.

My perspective is that these Tombow Mono Pro pencils are not worth the praise and price of what they are listed. Although saying that , these are decent and a little above school pencils giving its wood quality and smell ( other wood pencils have stronger smell which I slightly don’t like).

There’s also an important thing to point out is that these Tombow pencils themselves are NOT actually made in Japan. Although on the carton package says” Made in Japan”, on the pencils , it says “Made in Vietnam”.

It’s not a big deal to me , but I feel a little tricked. My favorite pencils so far are the ones that are not too expensive but have good quality like Staedtler Tradition ( they have great paint job ,great wood quality ,sufficient bonding that doesn’t use much glue, and superb graphite lead.

) , another will be Koh-I-Nor Hardtmuth 1500 ( They are smooth , but not easily wear out , great for cross-hatching). I prefer soft lead pencils , so another brand I am using is Colleen for sketching on print paper ( Colleen is a Japenese brand , these pencils have terrible wood barrel but soft lead, they were very cheap when I bought them).

Sometimes for light sketching I use Staedtler Minerva B pencil which I almost run of ( it is harder , dark enough, does not wear out much). DickBlick does not carry any of those brands. I wish you did because overall I am satisfied every time I shop at DickBlick online.

You guys are always fast and careful at packaging. So my final thoughts on Tombow Mono Professionals are: Pros: – Good wood quality ( slightly lighter and softer than other cedar wood pencils) – Great appearance ( gold letterpress , glossy coating ) – Decent graphite lead.

It seems that Japanese pencils tend to have softer lead Cons: -Expensive considering they do not have any outstanding quality to offset the price.

The Tombow professional 100 pencil in F is a fantastic pencil. It is equal to an HB grade in darkness compared to an average pencil. The lead is fantastic and sharpens to an amazing point. Point retention is also great.

I am able to get thinner lines and crosshatching with this pencil than I can with a 0. 5mm mechanical pencil. It erases well and has better than average smudge resistance. All in all, for around a dollar and some change, you would be hard pressed to find a better quality pencil for drawing.

It writes very smooth with just a little bit of resistance that gives in an amazing control while still retaining great smoothness. Sometimes it reminds me of the feel I get from brush strokes, very similar to the look of brush strokes on the paper.

If it weren’t for the fact that these pencils are now made in Vietnam and no longer in Japan, I would use them exclusively. If you can get passed that fact, than this is hands down the pencil for you at any price point.

I first bought Uni-Ball pens about 30 years ago as a young teacher. My students loved the colors and I enjoyed how long a Uni-Ball pen lasted. Each year I purchased 3 packs of multi-color pens and my students had to purchase pens for their own use.

Decades later? Uni-Ball pens don’t last anywhere near as long as they did. Their color arrays don’t match their competition. A Uni-Ball is now just another pen.

I have owned the Zebra M-301 Stainless Steel Mechanical pencils for years. I love them because they are the perfect size to fit in the spiral of my At-A-Glance Calendar. My last one recently died so I bought its replacement here.

For some reason the company has changed it to 0. 5 mm lead instead of the 0. 7 mm but kept the same model model number on the pencil. So now all the lead refills that I have left over do not fit the new pencils.

The pencil is comfortable and writes well. But, I cannot give this pencil 5 stars because of the eraser design. The way the eraser fits, you can only use about half of each eraser and it’s not very big.

So you end up throwing out half and wasting it. You also have to change erasers frequently. I ended up buying a Tombow MONO Zero Ultra-Fine 2. 5x5mm eraser which also fits perfectly in the calendar spiral on the other end.

I’m a long time pencil artist, and these have been my go-to workhorse for literally decades. I’ve collected a lot of mechanical pencils over the years, including the high end stuff like Rotring (the $30+ drafting ones), always looking for that elusive “perfect” pencil but I keep coming back to these.

Alvin, Platinum, Rotring, Faber-Castell, Uni, Pilot, Pentel; all either fell by the wayside or took a secondary roll with experience. I keep buying them, but these days more out of “ooh, shiny” than because I’m actually looking for something better.

Part of that is my own bias, as I’ve been using these since jr. high, so my muscle memory is calibrated for them almost by default, but even without that, these are great. They’re as durable as anything short of a Rotring 600, the grip is a perfect balance of grippy without being grabby (doesn’t feel slippery, but doesn’t resist when you want to shift your grip or rotate the pencil).

They don’t loosen or break leads, and the mechanism stays reliable forever. There’s no weird molded shapes that corral you into gripping them in a specific way or in a specific place, yet they’re comfortable.

The fact that they’re cheap and ubiquitous might make them unacceptable to a pencil snob, but it also makes them all the more practical, as you never have to worry about losing them, and can lend them out or abuse them as you see fit.

Irony is, I’m fairly certain some of mine are ones I’ve had since high school (over 20 years); not because I’ve babied or horded them or kept them as mementos, but because they just survive that well.

They’re like the Kalashnikov of pencils. Others I’ve hollowed out to make handles for things like sculpting tools (I sculpt as well, though more digital than with clay these days). Because they’re cheap, easy to replace, and almost perfectly ergonomic, so why not? While there are some pencils I do prefer for specific roles (Rotring 600 is great for outlining, Faber-Castelll TK-Fine Vario is great for broad gestural work), these remain the workhorse of my pencil cup, while many other more expensive and allegedly better ones became hanger queens.

There are some great pencils out there, but there’s a lotta prestige marketed stuff that looks advanced, but isn’t functionally better, and is often worse in some way or another. If I could change anything about it, I’d make it maybe half an inch longer, and shorten the tip to be more like the length of an Alvin or Rotring tip.

The Alvin Draftmatic in. 3 is the only pencil so far that’s come close to unseating the Zebra M-301 in. 5 as my workhorse, but over time the the M-301 proved more reliable.

I have lots of pencils. Stupid amounts. Sometimes, I think I like buying pencils more than drawing. But I always end up using this one. I use tape and a sharpie to mark lead hardness. I like it because it’s extremely light and the knurled grip is plastic instead of metal.

I also like that it has a drafting style tip. I’m using one right now with Pentel 2h lead when I should be working.

I decided to purchase these bad boys on a random whim one day after purchasing these same mechanical pencils but in the larger assorted color pack a few days earlier. I decided to purchase this duo because I noticed these 2 specific colors weren’t in the larger pack and I thought they needed to be, haha, but in all seriousness these mechanical pencils, hands down provide the most smooth, effortless writing experience ever.

My handwriting looks impeccable, flows in a even and consistent manner, and I can’t help but notice that there aren’t any cruel and uncomfortable pressure points on my hands or especially fingers like I normally get when using mechanical pencils or otherwise.

Papermate has been my go to writing utensil brand for years now because their products are just over the moon phenomenal. I cannot say enough good things about these pencils or Papermate in general!.

So I like many others am now working from home and no longer have the office supply closet to raid for whatever I might need. I got these for myself as I was getting tired of getting up to sharpen my old school yellow no 2 pencils all day.

I work as a technical designer and although my ‘finished’ work is done using cad I spend a lot of time sketching plans, do calculations and plain old clear the brain doodling on pads of paper with a pencil.

These mechanical pencils are great! I chose the thicker, softer lead to more closely emulate how an old school pencil draws, but these are so much better! First-hand comfort- they fit my hand comfortably and actually fit the contours of my hand and I can use them for hours without cramping my hand, getting pressure marks on my hand.

They are lightweight but still have enough heft for easy control. The clicker to advance the lead works every time without breaking the leads (which are easy to load). The lead are the perfect softness and thickness and do not snap off.

They lay down a nice, even and dark line and are great for notes as again, they don’t snap off and produce a nice dark letter and the lead never does snagged on my paper. of course when the lead get short you just click and get more lead allowing greater productivity.

The replaceable eraser cleans up erroors nicely without smudging or chewing up the paper surface. These are made very well and I recommend them highly.

This mechanical pencil set comes with three pencils, two extra refillable erasers and one lead set. It feels very comfortable and ergonomically correct in my hand. The lead is very strong and sturdy.

I advanced the lead one click and it wrote very well. Two clicks, and it again felt very sturdy and managed to withstand a little bit more pressure than the first. After three clicks of advancing the lead, I guessed the extra lead that was exposed would compromise its integrity, and I was correct.

The lead withstood normal pressure until I began to scribble on my paper and applied more pressure until it broke off. My observations lead me to conclude that only two clicks of advancing the lead is necessary when writing.

I liked how the rubber grip is positioned to help remind me where to hold the pencil properly. I thought the eraser was a powerhouse when I began to erase the dark pencil markings I created when trying to write hard.

The eraser left very little waste, unlike so many pencils I’ve used where my paper is literally covered with specks of small eraser bits. I am happy to say that I am a fan of this Papermate Clear Point #2 mechanical pencil and will recommend this product to my friends and family.

IšverstiShow in original languageI recently picked up the 2nd generation Apple Pencil to use with my iPad Air. The Pencil is a tad larger than a number 2 pencil, but weighs more. It has a slightly grippy texture and a narrow flat strip along one side that feels good in my hand.

I wish that Apple had made the tip with a more rubbery so it did not feel slick on the tablet glass. It is a pleasure to use the Pencil to write or draw with. It feels natural. The pressure sensitivity is responsive and adds to the “natural” feel and muscle memory.

I have mine set so the double tap switches the tip to the eraser and I got used to it very quickly. The only way to charge the pencil is on the top/right side of the iPad. There is a satisfying click when the Pencil snaps into position, and while the magnets are strong I do not trust them to hold the pencil in place and find myself checking to make sure it is still there when putting my iPad in my case or when removing it.

I have take my iPad to a meeting only to discover that I left the Pencil on my desk. Battery life is amazing. I never go through a charge during a day of use and since the Pencil charges while it is attached I never have an issue.

At $130. 00 this is not a budget friendly device. You can purchase a good Wacom stylus for $65. 00 but they are not interchangeable. I would only recommend the Apple Pencil only if you have an iPad that is compatible with it AND you are going to use it for more than note taking or simple sketching.

There are cheaper pens that are good enough for taking notes on an iPad that are half as expensive – the Logitech crayon comes to mind.

The Apple Pencil is designed to look and act beautifully. This stylus has a matte finish that doesn’t feel like it is going to slip out of your hands like some others. The pen also has a nice balance to it, making it a valuable product for artists.

Double tapping on the side allows you to switch tools in supported apps, which helps when sketching or doodling. Pencil is instantly recognized by my iPad Air, and I appreciate that it charges on the side wirelessly instead of having to use yet another cable to charge it.

One small gripe I do have is that the double tap feature only works within apps to switch art tools. A knock-off I have used before has a feature that allows me to switch between apps or see an overlay of all open apps.

If there was a way to program the Pencil to do this instead of the limited application of the feature then this would be a winning accessory hands down! Overall a bit pricy, but definitely a treat to use.

If you are a dedicated artist, this would be a great investment to further your career. Meanwhile, it might not be as great of a value if you are strictly using your iPad for business use due to the limited usage.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe best stylus on the market hands down. Apple did a very good job of the accuracy and feel of this stylus for the iPad. It’s works very smooth and the latency is very low.

When you draw, it picks it right up, no lag. I’m using it on an 2020 iPad Pro 12. 9”. I love that you can charge the pencil directly from laying it on the top of the ipad where the magnets are. This is how you also pair it upon first opening it.

Very simple pairing process, it just works. The pencil has some weight to it, you definitely feel it in your hands when holding it, the quality is good also. It doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. The material the pencil is made of is a gray/whitish smooth material that feels like you could rub/bump it against something and the white won’t come off.

Overall, I had a third party stylus from Amazon that worked with my iPad Pro 12. 9” but it wasn’t nearly as smooth and reliable like Apple’s pencil option and I had to charge it via USB C. With Apple’s pencil, it charges on the iPad so conveniently out of the way with any cords.

It’s an all enclosed design, meaning there are no charging ports on it. I feel like for most things, Apple’s in house home cooking solution is the best route to go, even paying a little more for something.

I’m glad I bought this on sale, I would look for Amazon Prime Day deals or Black Friday to get a really good sale. Also, if you don’t mind buying used, Best Buy used/refurbished is a good cheaper option.

You probably may not give much thought to pencils. However, being a teacher, there is nothing worse than junky pencils in the classroom. I can’t tell you how many pencils we go through on a regular basis, especially in a classroom of young children who are rough on pretty much everything, so I hate having to throw away pencils preemptively.

Over the past few years I have noticed a decline in the quality of the “better” brands of pencils and find that they will not sharpen properly- the lead keeps breaking, it sharpens at a weird angle, etc.

The pen+GEAR pencils did sharpen really nicely; you can tell the wood holding the lead is decent quality so breakage shouldn’t be a problem. It also had a good eraser- took off my writing without leaving awful red marks on the paper (another problem of poor quality pencils).

These pencils are also a great value. The package I have runs about $5 for 72 pencils. it would be difficult to buy a name brand at that price point. I only gave it 4 stars at this time due to the fact that I am the one trying out the pencil.

I would like to see it put to the test of 5 year olds and how long they last to give it that last star! My overall opinion is that these pencils are a good buy, and I would recommend them to parents who are buying their child’s school supplies.

I literally buy these Bic pencils in bulk for my high school classroom. I teach in a VERY low income area, so I end up supplying everything for my students. They don’t take them(usually, and if they do they really needed it), they just use them and put them back.

A few boxes of 48 bought on sale last all year (with some extra lead and erasers). These pencils are sturdy, look pretty, and can withstand a full year of abuse from multiple high school students. I think that says it all!.

The BiC Extra smooth darker writing 40 mechanical pencil pack is amazing! ✏️ These are perfect for standardized test. The led size is 0. 7mm. The writing does not smudge and it erases easily. The pack has pencil in 5 colours: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue.

Mechanical pencils are amazing as they are resusable, just need to buy the lead. I would definitely buy this product again and definitely recommend it to others. 💛.

I am always on the hunt for great writing utensils for both my children, as well as myself since I work in an office setting. I take a lot of notes and like to have mechanical pencils on hand because they are easy to write with and I do not have to worry about sharpening a regular pencil to jot down my thoughts.

This is one of my favorite brands by far, they always put out quality products and these mechanical pencils are some of the better ones of the market. Other mechanical pencils have often broken in a very short time frame, I have not had to deal with the pencil breaking at all with these.

One of my favorite details of this product is that it is extra smooth, and really writes a lot smoother than any other pencils I have used. I love the bold colors that they chose to feature on the handles, it jazzes the office up for sure.

The colors are fun and inspiring, and I appreciate the bold color writing that it leaves behind when you write with it. The pencil marks are dark, and consistent and are not faded nor splotchy at all.

I also get absolutely no budging or smearing with these pencils like I do with other brands. It’s important that my notes are kept safe from smears, because I like to keep them for a few months while I am working.

When I need to erase some writing or notes, it erases easily as well and does not leave behind any mess on the paper. I will be buying these from now on, as other brands have constantly disappointed me, these are great!! I will recommend these to all of my friends and family members that are office supply needy, or those that just fully enjoy great utensils!.

So, let me get this review started with the info that I grew up in Germany at a time when pretty cursive writing in grade school could make or break your grade for “gut” (a B) to “sehr gut” (an A) and back in the day, Lamy pens were the gold standard to teach kids how to write.

Quite some time has passed since then and my Lamy, which I used to take notes, sign cards etc. , broke after about 2 decades of use. (Yes, they are THAT indestructible and hardy! My old Lamy survived natural disasters, and 3 international moves, I kid you not! ) I went on for a while without it – still had my “fancier” fountain pens, but not my trusty daily friend – and by chance I ended up at Goulet and I have a new trusty friend (and a re-awakened enthusiasm for fountain pens).

So yes, Lamy fountain pens are the workhorses of fountain pens. Some of my collogues deem me “old fashioned” or “weird” for scribbling around with a fountain pen, but I don’t care. I like the handling of them, in messier settings than a clean desk (like writing a bill/receipt to a client in an outdoors setting while it pours), the sturdy “package” (survives everyday work outdoors), while still giving the feeling of writing with a “nicer” pen and the typical “fountain pen feeling” (I know you know what I mean) while writing.

If you are looking for a forgiving everyday/ on the road fountain pen, long lasting, but also with replaceable parts, then THIS is THE fountain pen for you!.

I desperately hope Pentel keeps making the GT QE207. It’s simply the greatest mechanical pencil. The ribbed grip is what makes is extra-special. All those other pencils with smooth or cushioned grips are just lesser pencils.

The ribbed grip keeps your fingers from moving around way more effectively than others and feels cushioned, flexible, and pleasant to both use and hold. It also makes the pen easy to find in your case quickly, even when you aren’t looking, because the little flexible ridges feel distinctive in a really nice way.

I also seriously appreciate the wonderful eraser. Twisting is a way better way to manage the eraser and it’s a nice, large eraser, rather than one of those small-diameter things that run out after the second time you use them.

This eraser really lasts and does a great job. I also second what the previous commenter said about the retractable lead tip. it keeps the tip from bending or marking things up in my purse, which is awesome.

I hate that these are getting so hard to find in stores, because no other pencil is nearly as good. Everyone at work knows how much I love these pencils. I pick them up whenever I can find them.

I am going strong with a Twist-Erase III I bought in high school, at least 10 years ago. It is still, after having tried lots and lots of alternatives, the best pencil I own. Rugged build, elegant design, excellent ergonomic fit in the hand (much better than the Pentel Sharp, for instance), and unbeatable eraser size and longevity.

My only complaint is that the maroon color is quite difficult to get a hold of nowadays. Pentel has offered lots of cool colors, but only seems to sell them through third-parties (namely, an A-to-Z mega-conglomerate that shall not be named.

). But aesthetics aside: buy this pencil. It doesn’t get better than this.

I am an accountant. I began working as one back before computers and used paper and pencil for my work. I tried a few other pencils and was not very happy with them. Then I found this Twist Erase pencil when it had no number(if I remember correctly).

But for the past 40+ years this has, and will remain the only mechanical pencil I will use as long as Pentel continues to make them. I prefer the ones you can remove the pocket clip since I am a female and can’t use it for a shirt pocket.

I highly recommend this pencil. And don’t forget, it has a really long eraser!.

While waiting in line to checkout, I saw this package of pencils on the sale rack. It is hard to go wrong with 36 pencils for a buck, so I bought them. When I got home I discovered that they had no point, but – no problem – I had a pencil sharpener.

With a little electricity, some grindy noises and pressure applied to the eraser end I was able to magically create writing instruments. I am a great believer in recycling, so I was glad to realize that the shavings could be used in my garden.

Hopefully to grow additional pencils. What a deal that would be.

Probably the least exciting thing any kid has to get for school are the number-two pencils. For generations, they’ve been yellow on the sides, pink eraser on top. yawn. even the dull gray lines they make boring.

But the teachers still require them and the kiddies still lose them, so being able to buy them a dozen at a time makes sense empirically, if not emotionally.

These number two pencils leave a smooth marking on the paper. There are no skips, twist, or quirks. They sharpen easily and last quite a while without resharpening. The eraser is very good at erasing marks made by this pencil.

I appreciate the quality and durability of this product.

Bic is synonymous with the production of writing utensils, and while I’m most familiar with their pens, I thought I’d give their pencils a try. And unsurprisingly, they make a great pencil too! First it should be noted, the Xtra Sparkle refers to the casing design.

it has nothing to do with the lead or actual writing. (This was obvious to me, but I thought I should make it explicit. ) That said, the “sparkle” is fun, and certainly visually pleasing. Too, it sets it apart from other pencils so I can easily spot any of my pencils that have wandered off in the hands of my fellow work colleagues.

The design is classic, and it sits easy in my hand. The mechanism to advance the lead (by pushing at the eraser end) is smooth and extends at satisfying increments. The plastic is sturdy, and I’ve experienced no operational failures.

The lead is the standard #2. useful for almost any purpose, from test taking to art, and the writing is smooth and strong. The lead rarely breaks when used at a perfectly shallow angle. I have no complaints about the function and ability to write.

My only very small quibble is with the eraser. Because the lead leaves such a satisfactorily dark line, the erasers struggle with their task, and it can take quite a vigorous action to render the paper clean.

But this is a minor complaint, and otherwise the eraser is large enough to do good duty, but not so large as to be wobbly or uncontrollable. Overall a pencil that feels, looks, and functions well. Will recommend!.

An excellent pencil in all regards. Although you should be aware that soft (9-12B) pencils do not erase all that well nor should they be expected to. The finish has a nice sophisticated look however, performance is what counts most and this pencil delivers.

The pencil sharpens to an even point, the core is well centered in a good wood and the large core is securely glued in place. Although rated a 10B, I find it comparable to the Staedler 10-12 Brange pencils.

The Hi-Uni is very smooth and capable of building strong blacks. I like to use them with watercolor to provide a strong under-drawing reminiscent of some 18-19th century English watercolorists. The plastic pencil box is quite nice too and re-usable.

I adore these pencils! I love how effortlessly they lay down a dark line. I use them every day, and use each pencil until the nub is too small to sharpen. I do have to sharpen them often, but I don’t mind because I like the dark line trade-off for the sake of less hand fatigue.

They sharpen to a razor point if you like, have a well-centered graphite, and a nice fragrant wood.

In my opinion, these beat out the other higher end wooden pencils offered on this site. I have palomino’s as well as the mono 100. While all are fantastic to use, I’ve found that after it’s point, these Hi-Uni’s “blunt” the best.

When dulling out they do not become to scratchy and they allow you to maintain a definitive character when writing. Obviously this is just one persons opinion but I think the Palomino’s get scratchy when they lose point and the mono 100’s do not stay as defined as these when writing.

All are great pencils, but I think these pencils are my favorite. At least in the sub $3. 00 each range.

Very good writing instrument. I like the feel of the triangular shape. And a plus it doesn’t roll of the table. I would recommend this product.

It’s not comfortable to write with. The barrel is triangular but there is no soft support against your finger. I couldn’t write with it for more than a few minutes without the pressure hurting my knuckle.

This mechanical pencil works as I expected. I chose 0.7mm lead because 0.5mm lead breaks off too easy. So far so good !

I had always wanted a Montblanc mechanical pencil and the price was reduced plus 15% discount from Ernest Jones; it provided me with the incentive to get it. Still quite expensive but very nice quality and very happy with my purchase.

It was not advertised but the lead size is 0. 7mm and comes with 5 leads in the pencil. The clutch mechanism is nice and smooth and I am positive it will last a lifetime. Picked up in my local store (arrived 4 days before estimated arrival date) and staff were very friendly and professional.

Montblanc Pens require Montblanc cartridges. When this pen arrived it did not work. Checked the cartridge and it was a filler from Indonesia. Now I am not certain that this pen is truly a Montblanc. Having owned several, I think it is.

but a non- functioning off brand ball point cartridge from Indonesia does not inspire confidence.
