20 Best Plus Size Button-Down Shirts (2022 Updated)

I received this item in a very timely manner, actually faster than I expected, wore it casually to a Japanese Hibachi place for lunch with my sister. It was cool that Saturday morning when we started our day out.

The Levi shirt looked like a nice jean shirt; but when it warmed up I opened the shirt, had a tank top on underneath, rolled up the sleeves 3/4 length after opening it up like a cute light shirt or jacket.

It gave me the look I wanted with my Levi crop ankle jeans. My sister really liked it, wanted to know where I got the shirt!! “#sweepstakes” I did not have a bad experience with this online order at all.

I am 5’11 with long arms; the sleeves are slightly longer than what’s pictured. The sleeves hit just past the wrist which is perfect for the days I want to wear them rolled down. Anyhow, the material is solid and the rinse is beautiful.

Looks great worn as pictured or with a dark colored bottom.

Throw top came damaged! It had a long piece of thread sticking out on the side. Leaving a space where the material don’t connect. A hold in the top. White substance on it. The customer service wasn’t helpful.

Very disappointed!.

I so wanted to love this shirt, but I purchased it in the Alpine and Wild Rose colors, and both were very different than pictured. The Alpine was more of a muted, dusty shade of the teal that I had expected.

The Wild Rose was not the coral color that was pictured, it was very much more pink (as the name wild rose implies). I don’t think the color issues were because of my browser, because I have purchased other Nordstrom items that look exactly as pictured.

Just be aware that the colors might be slightly different than shown.

The fabric looks crisp and styling is nice. I ordered a 1x. The body fits well but the sleeves are too tight. The cuff hits right below my elbow so when I drive or try to work at my desk the sleeve can not slide up my arm.

I have to wear it unbuttoned and that does not look good. I am older and I do not have trim arms.

I love this blouse. I wear it with jeans and or with chinos for a little more dressed. Love the quality of these blouses, nice thick cotton. I have a collection of 6. They are worth every penny.

I waited on this blouse for so long lol. The arm/shoulder area is snug and the sleeves barely reach my wrists. Im a true 3x/24W at 5?9?. There?s no stretch, so if you do order it and you?ve been waiting as long as I have, maybe order up a size?? That?s how bad I wanted this top to work, I?m still considering returning and sizing up.

But I?m pretty sure the cut is just not for me. Like when i put it on, it was giving me denim jacket vibes. If youve tried a denim jacket in your size and it let you down? this top probably won?t work lol.

I’ve been looking at this blouse for a long time. I’m soooo glad I finally bought it. I love the colors, the background is a little darker than it’s more little taupe than cream as it appears on the site.

The taupe background really complements the spots. The blouse fits great, I bought it in a 20, I usually wear an 18-20 and decided to buy it larger because there was no stretch. It a little loose but I prefer that because it more flowy.

I’m very happy with my purchase!.

What a great top! I was a little surprised to find the fabric is more of a beigey-pink than it looks on the website (I thought it would be more cream or beige), but it’s extremely pretty and flattering for any shade of skin.

The ruffles at the neck and wrists are divine and add a nice fun touch to the design when combined with the print. This will be super versatile. However, I worried about it fitting a bit small given the nonstretch fabric, and I was correct.

Normally I wear a 16 and sized up to an 18 because I have larger arms, and this proved to be the right call. The arms are a bit tight and short and would have been impossible if I’d taken my normal size.

But the 18 fits well, and I can’t wait to wear this to work once COVID calms down and I go back to the office.

I love these shirts! I own several of them. They are classy and sharp looking. They look great with jeans to dress pants to skirts. When I wear them to job interviews, I feel awesome. The main fabric is crisp but not stiff and the knit sides gives you just a little bit of extra room if you happen to need it.

The shirts look great wash after wash. For the lighter colored shirts, the pleats cover your bra so a camisole isn’t needed. My only dislikes of this shirt is that they don’t have more cotton in them and they are not longer.

They don’t stay tucked in.

Nice quality versatile blouse for dress or casual wear! Very comfortable even while somewhat fitted. Own a few in different colors. Laundered and cared for properly with ensure nice wardrobe staple. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ORDER ACCORDING TO COLOR SHOWN! ACTUAL COLOR IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM COLOR SHOWN AND IN SOME CASES COLOR DESCRIPTION DOES NOT MATCH WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT.

Especially when on sale I recommend ordering more than a few to add to your wardrobe!!.

I bought this on a whim because of Boscov’s sale. Pleased to see that it’s a really nice shirt, easy to wash and I don’t have to iron it either! I’m sure it will be comfortable with the knit panels on the sides for stretch.

The purple iris color is wonderful for all seasons, very pleased with purchase!.

Love this shirt. It’s stretchy in a good way. Very breathable and easy to move in. Love the collar! I have to wear white for work so the only thing is it’s a little see through but no biggie if you wear a tank top underneath! Definitely recommend.

This shirt is very well made and comfortable. It washes well and needs no ironing. I have some in the blue color; I wish there were more colors. I love having the pocket. I cannot find a shirt like this anywhere else.

I purchased this shirt in white and was disappointed in the cut and material. The cut was extremely boxy and unflattering. The material was thin and almost translucent – even with a base-layer tank, the shirt was inappropriate to wear to work.

I also purchased this shirt in black and, while the translucency was not a problem, the boxy, unflattering cut made me dissatisfied with this color, too. Both shirts were great quality if you were looking for a square fit and sheer materials, but they did not meet my requirements for a button-up work shirt.

I had this shirt in black flowers several years ago. The fabric was cotton, but it was soft and I wore it often with different colored tank tops. However, I gained weight so I donated the shirt. I decided to buy the same pattern again, and eagerly awaited delivery.

I was so disappointed when I opened the bag. I was expecting the same shirt in the same fabric, however, this fabric was stiff and scratchy. I washed it twice, and put LOTS of fabric softener in both times.

The material did not soften up, and I am out the purchase price and shipping. I usually buy things on sale, but I wanted this in a hurry, so I ordered it without a discount. This will be the last time I purchase anything not on sale.

Fabric is very thin and see through, I will likely have to wear a camisole underneath it. The print is beautiful, the fit is very good, as well as the length, so very true to size. I normally wear a 3X from most vendors, I ordered a 22W and the fit is just perfect.

The top WILL require ironing as it is cotton and wrinkles easily. However, I really like the print and purchased it in several colors. We have very warm weather in the South, so I expect to get good use out of these tops this summer.

I will wash in delicate or by hand. Fabric appears to be fragile.

This is the second time I have purchased this style of shirt. This year’s shirts are longer than my old ones, but I’m not sure if that is because my old shirts shrunk? I purchased these only because I liked the fabrics.

The sleeves are the pits, and I am actually cutting them off and hemming them to be just above the elbow which is much more flattering. As I deconstruct the shirts, I have found the construction is pretty inconsistent.

Some of the sleeves are too short. Rolling doesn’t work great when the button on one side is 2 inches higher than the button on the other. 😛 The prints are very pretty this year. My old ones were just ok.

I can’t recommend if you want a long sleeve shirt, but it works as short sleeve for me. They should save on construction and just make these short sleeves. That’s 4 buttons and 4 button holes per shirt I’m just whacking off.

If you are broad in the upper back, size up one size.

This is a great quality blouse that looks beautiful when wearing it. It has a sporty feel to it, because of the denim look. But, it feels so much better than denim. It’s not thick and unmovable, it’s very soft and silky.

The look is denim but the feel is luxury. I love the detail of the tab on the sleeves, so you can wear it with the sleeves rolled up for a 3/4 length sleeve. Or leave them down if you prefer a full length sleeve.

It runs slightly large, but I still think it’s okay to go with your regular size. That way there is no gaping at the buttons. It washes great, no shrinking and I had no problem with dye running. I used cold water to wash it.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, casual blouse, I highly recommend this one.

What I love about this button up shirt is it is versatile for fall or winter weather. The material is thin enough, and has the strap to roll up the sleeves for a cool fall day, or you can wear this with sleeves down, and over an undershirt for a warmer day.

I love the brownish fall colors in plaid, and you can dress this with a pair of jeans. The length is great coverage (plus size), and the material is very soft. You may need to steam it a little after you wash it.

That would be the only issue if you are hoping for a shirt that is ready to wear out of the dryer. Other than that, I would recommend this shirt and would like to try more colors.

When my family and I where going apple and pumpkin picking we always love to dress for the fall but never know if it’s going to be hot or cold out! We normally where flannel shirts, but last year it was so hot I felt like I was going to melt ! This shirt was perfect it was light enough to wear on hot days and I brought a light jacket with me just in case it was hot.

Even if I had to put them jacket on I knew it would not of been bulky as it it was a thin soft shirt but The look of a flannel as we where going for ! This shirt worked out Perfect!.

It’s a very good quality shirt – quality fabric, buttons, stitching, etc. The size is generous, so you don’t have to order a size larger. The only problem is that I ordered two shirts – I received one and the other was back-ordered a month ago.

I’m looking forward to receiving the second shirt, and I hope it’s as good as the first one.

I have now bought 3 shirts from Kingsize. They are excellent shirts, fit and look great. I was very pleased with the quality of cloth and workmanship. I never worry about my shirt tail coming out. I strongly recommend this shirt.

The design and colors were great. The fabric was a bit heavier than I expected but all in all I would highly recommend this shirt.

I have depended on these shirts for over 30 years. I wear PETITES and have been anxiously awaiting new shirts since new PETITES weren’t available last year. I ordered the black checked one and realized the fit is no longer the same.

I just purchased the Black Jacobean as well, which is constructed the same, so the change was last year some time. The shoulders are wider and sleeve length is a bit longer, but what is so different is the collar: it is larger and no longer a nice straight spread collar.

Now it is larger, cut rounder, funky and makes the neck larger. Probably a little more like a generic uniform shirt. You can see the obvious difference when you press it. I do not like the collar as it changes the whole appearance and fit.

After so long of a wait, I returned and won’t be purchasing more until the collar goes back to what it was, smaller and straight. I was also disappointed in the top stitching and thread, it was cheap looking.

At this price point, I expect more.

This is a great quality shirt. Darts in the back make for nice shaping detail. I ordered this in the Alabaster Jacobean Floral and the colors are not complimentary to each other at all. In fact they clash.

The Flowers have a nice bright pink color but the background is yellow cream color. The yellow tones do not go with the bright pink. I looked at this shirt on three different monitors before buying and never saw the yellow rather what showed was an off white/ivory tone.

Not a keeper. sending back. Did buy this shirt in another color that is not offered now and it is great! Which is why I wanted another one.

I bought the ivory/navy stripe and it is really just white and navy. It is pretty and nice silky fabric. Could be worn for work or just to dress up jeans. I ordered up a size to help with sleeve length since I have long arms but did not really need to.

Cuffs were big enough also. I returned it because it was a too large and it was longer than it appears in the photo almost tunic length so with the vertical stripes it seemed to long. Maybe reorder usual size.

This shirt is so perfect! I wear a 4 in Torrid tees – could wear a 3 but I like to toss them in the dryer. Got this in a 4, it fits perfectly, so a little smaller than a regular 4. But it’s in NO WAY uncomfortable! It’s SO soft, unlike many denim shirts I’ve tried.

The fit is excellent and the weight makes it not too warm! This top is NOT too short, either, which is such a problem in fashion right now. Getting a second as a back up! Will buy allll colors available!.

Love this shirt! Classic denim fit for plus size. I’m usually a 1/1x but I ordered a size up/2 because my bust is around a 51 after undergarments and I didnt want any gaps if I buttoned the shirt up.

This is a classic shirt that I know I’ll reach for forever. I constantly wear my denim shirts out so I know this is something I will reorder. Please dont ever change this or discontinue, it is perfect! I found this on YouTube from Hotmess Momma Vlogs.

I love my new light denim shirt. It buttons down and I love that feature or you can also wear a cami and wear it open. It looks amazing with jeans, jeggings, and enemies with skirts. It feels so light weight and not heavy.

I can wear it all year around and it still looks good. It also looks fantastic with wearing boots with my outfits as well. I am so happy with my new shirt. And I have gotten so many compliments on wearing it.

I purchased this shirt in several colors. They all came in their own clear plastic bags. I must say that each shirt was so very wrinkled inside the bags. I purchased two of these same style CK shirts a few years ago.

Same material, chambray color. They washed and dried beautifully and required no ironing. I wanted these shirts to work, so I washed and dried as directed. Each one came out of the dryer so wrinkled!! I will try to iron, but they say only use cool iron.

Don’t think that will take care of these horrible wrinkles!! So disappointed!!.

I just received this shirt today. When I opened the USPS mailer, the shirt was without primary packaging. Someone just put it inside the “mailer” and sent it off. It was not in additional packaging, not neatly folded, and totally wrinkled.

I could not believe it. Totally unacceptable. I am so upset with the presentation of the shirt, that right now, I couldn’t give an honest opinion of it. It would not be a good review. This review is about how Dillards handled my order, and hopefully they will do better in the future.

Washed, dried and ironed the shirt exactly according to the instructions and the vertical hem with button holes will not lay flat in some areas. Same with top of pocket. The sleeves at elbow area feel a bit snug when sleeve is rolled up too.

I would not buy again.

This is 100% static cling, stiffer than it ought to be, and way too short. It was a complete miss. For reference, I typically wear a 16 but sized up to a 18/20 for length (still hits at that awkward place right at my waistline).

The shirt does not breathe, stretch or flow –but it apparently photographs well. The static cling is absolutely unbearable, and I wouldn’t even consider donating this problem to anyone. I don’t understand the great reviews.

I ordered two of these shirts. The colors were very pretty and the body of the shirt fit well. The corduroy was a good weight. However, on both shirts the upper arm of the sleeve was way too tight and it was very snug across the shoulders.

I was very disappointed as they were just what I had been looking for. I didn’t order the next size up as I felt the body of the shirt would have been too big.

Ordered corduroy big shirt. Not true to size at all. Can not even wear it. Usually wear a womens small or extra small. Ordered a medium from Romans. Checked the sizing before ordering. Thought it would be big could wear it over smothing getting a medium.

But nope very tight in the shoulders and arms. Very dissatisfied with my first and only order from Roamans. :(.

I ordered this shirt in size 24. I wanted a loose oversized corduroy big shirt. I was afraid that this shirt was going to be way too large. Instead the shoulders are almost too tight. It’s just an Ill fitting shirt.

I don’t even like this type of corduroy. Normally I buy size 1x to have loose fitting tops.

Good Quality for the money

This shirt is totally wrinkle free, just a little stretchy, and very well-made. The fabric looks and feels expensive and the cut is flattering. Seams and button-work add to the appearance of quality (it looks and feels much more expensive than it is).

I took this on a cruise and had to wash it twice because I wore it so much; all I had to do was wash it with a little soap in the sink, roll it in a towel to remove excess water, and hang it overnight to dry – it looked brand new the following morning.

I just ordered two more in white so that I can have them forever, as well as one each in the other colors. I will never travel without this shirt!!.

If you prefer crisp cotton, this one is not for you. I prefer something with some stretch, that moves with me. The microfiber fabric is silky smooth so everything you wear on top just slides right over.

Washes up beautifully, wrinkles fall right out. Actually love the unfinished hem—no bulk when tucking the shirt in. Also, I’m short, and found the extra length in back a little much, so a sharp pair of shears and a steady hand made for a quick adjustment.

Looks great with leggings or jeans and is such a versatile wardrobe piece. Only thing that would make it better would be a little stiffening in the collar, so that when you pop it, it would stay up. The size chart was accurate, got a perfect fit when ordering according to my honest measurements.

I can’t speak highly enough about this shirt. It doesn’t wrinkle, falls beautifully in a slender and not boxy way, is roomy in the bust for larger chested ladies, washes and air dries in no time at all, and feels really great against the skin in warm AND cool weather.

I wear it open, closed, or tied in front for different looks. I wear one every single day pretty much. I’m tall, and I have found this and other Lysse pieces work really well for my height. In love!.

These Gold Label no-iron shirts are the nice detailed look I appreciate. I was pleased with the look when recently wearing this shirt to a family gathering. After a 4 hour car trip, it quickly dropped the light wrinkles from sitting.

I usually purchase one or two of these shirts each season. The quality of the fabric and seamwork makes them remain looking great for years.

Great, comfortable fit. They really don’t wrinkle! I’m not keen on the neckline, but not enough to return. That’s the one “fault” and it’s entirely my fault for not reading closely. Seriously, it’s a great blouse😁.

Love this blouse. Haven’t tried it on our worn it but I purchased it in the coral and live at so I added another color. I did have to buy 3 off a similar blouse to find the right size between a regular or a plus.

But them I found the right size.

I was so excited to find a summery work shirt, that I bought 3. Bad decision. White with black stripes too sheer. French Rose was muted, unlike the photo. And the very light blue-green pastel was actually a dull grey.

Fit was too small in all 3, and each fit differently. Not enough ease in the back, and armholes. Buttons gaped mid-chest. Sleeves came rolled with a tab. I unrolled one sleeve, only to discover a floppy cuff with a very long slit opening, no placket, and no interfacing.

If you button the sleeves to wear long, the sleeve vents just flop around and hang out. Totally unprofessional and cheap construction. So disappointed in all 3. Going back to a similar style in Torrid’s blouses which start at size 10.

For reference, I’m a 36D and typical size L, or 10-12 in blouses.

I absolutely love this shirt and it’s great to wear to work when I’m going to be meeting with clients. It’s adorable and looks great tucked in completely or partially. My only complaint is the sleeves.

They were rolled so nicely when I bought the shirts and before the end of the day they were coming unrolled and I can’t figure out how to get them to stay how they were initially. At least the sleeves can be worn rolled or all the way down so if it becomes too much of an issue I can always wear them unrolled.

I love the fit of this shirt, and the silkiness of the fabric. Unfortunately I’ll be returning it. I noticed the shirt was buttoned up wrong when I tried it on, and the arms smelled like body odor. Obviously this was a return:( Thankfully, this is the only time I’ve had this problem when ordering from Maurices.

Shirts are not being made as well as before. fitting irregularities and quality subpar. i have a collection of shirts from past years but will not be buying again until quality improves. very disappointing.

I had to replace a piece that I have worn to death over the last 10 years. This black silk shirt never dates

This is a very nice shirt. Can be worn with pants or skirts. Fabric is lightweight and cool for these super hot summers. I like the sleeve, it’s different. The white is slightly see through so those who prefer may want to wear a cami underneath.

I wear a dark bra to camouflage the transparency. I would buy it again in a different color.

Beautifully made blouse, well made, light weight, cool, & comfy for hot summer, & the fit is perfect. Colors are vibrant & don’t have that faded look. Washed very well, but I hung dry, & didn’t use the dryer.

I find sometimes putting my clothes in the dryer ages the material & breaks down the fibers. Hang drying preserves the material & keeps them looking newer, longer.

I have seven blouses in this style. Fabric is wonderful. Wash and dry and ready to go. Colors are good. Sizes run big, wish I had ordered one size smaller. Don’t like my clothes tight, so I’m just living with what I have.

Costs too much to return.

I wanted, really wanted, to love this shirt. Because there is so much about it to love. The. Fabric. The closest silk dupe you will every see. This shirt feels divine and has that luminescence only seen with silk.

I purchased the shirt in olive, a muted shade of herbal green. This shirt came so close to my dreams of perfection until I tried it on. The lack of tailoring makes the fit boxy and unfeminine, in stark contrast to the fabric.

The dropped shoulder line and lack of darts combine with somewhat awkward collar and cuff dimensions look inexpensive. I am keeping it because I love the fabric but can only rate a 3 due to the poor fit and cut.

this is literally so cute on. I am obsessed with it. The fabric is light and breathable. It is also just shiny enough that it looks nice without looking tacky or cheap. The cuffs on the hands were a little tight to slide on with the buttons closed for me but unbuttoned they are a breeze.

it is a very rectangular fit shirt.

The quality of this item doesn’t live up to my expectations of Eloquii. There are loose threads and frayed ends peeking through some of the hems/seams and I’m just not confident that it won’t look worse over time.

The sizing also seemed small; I ordered my true size and it feels a little snug in spots. I might recommend sizing up if you want a looser blousy look. The colour row beautiful.
