20 Best Plus Size Casual Dresses (2022 Updated)

I ordered the dress in two sizes since I saw that it tended to run small. The size that I normally wear did end up being too small and while the next size up fit, the dress (in my opinion) wasn’t as flattering for someone who has ******* and hips.

I went to return both dresses and after a bunch of hoops to return it (you have to send them an email and wait to hear back if they approve it, then you have to get an RMA # from them, then you have to email your tracking # once you send your package), I found out that they were only refunding a portion back.

Apparently, even though they advertised free shipping for orders over $60, they charged me $14. 99 shipping on my initial order because I had another promo code. So I ended up basically paying $14. 99 (the cost of shipping) to try on two dresses.

Since I paid using PayPal, PayPal covered the cost to return the dresses. But due to this experience and that they refused to also return the $14. 99, I doubt that I’ll ever purchase from them again.

I ordered several dresses as Mother of the Groom which was my first mistake! Because they were all lovely and I couldn’t choose! They all fit pretty true to size and I felt were of excellent quality! The colors were as shown and beautiful as well.

I had shopped at several stores and for the price, style, and quality Ever Pretty was “hands-down” the BEST! I have one more son to go and this is where I will turn to for my next dress! If I had a daughter, this is where I’d send her too!.

I had sooooo many compliments – in person and from photos online of me in this in red size 20 for my 40th birthday. AMAZING value, excellent quality and just beautiful and comfortable. Loved it xxxx

This dress was very, very big on me. I fall between sizes and ordered down, but it was still one if not two sizes too big. I also did not find it flattering on my pear shape, as there is no natural waist tapering at all.

There were probably six extra inches of fabric around my waist and bust, and not in a cool, oversized way for me. Probably would be good on someone without a huge waist-hip differential. But I would still size way, way down.

The fabric is very stretchy but doesn’t cling, which meant, on the plus side, it slid over my lumps, but, on the minus side, it tented out from the biggest part of me. Also, there are pockets, so the extra fabric bunching up at the hips was weird on me.

The length was good for me; at 5’5″ I could wear flats or a low heel. I ordered the blue pattern, which was vibrant and pretty, but I returned.

I wear either large or medium. Large works, but I definitely had room to size down. Fabric is perfectly soft, not too thin. Colors vibrant. Perfect casual summer dress I’m 5’4, knotted the front to be sure it didn’t drag.

The dress worked fine with normal flip flops.

I normally wear a medium, but the reviews said it ran big. First I ordered a small; perfect! I loved it so much I tried to order more size small in black, because it is perfect for work and our dress code is black, however there were no smalls left.

Instead i went with XS, and it is still very good fit, just not as loose but comfortable. I am 5’2″; its just shy of dragging the ground. I typically wear a short heel. Perfect fabric that breathes and moves with you.

Great dress to wear alone, or to extend the season and layer it under a tunic wrap or vest. I want one for every day.

I really love this dress! Got it in the mail yesterday and wore it all day today. I had gotten a dress from the same brand and size a week or two ago that fit well so I took a chance that I would be happy with this one as well.

And I am. It is comfy, long enough (knee length), modest neckline. etc. The only thing I wish is that it had pockets. I do love having pockets. I had gotten a light beige shrug a while back and it went perfectly with this dress considering it is still winter and I wanted to be sure I wasn’t catching drafts.

I wouldn’t mind having a few more dresses like this in different colors. I generally take size 2XL, but their size chart showed that I should get a size 3XL so I did and it fit great. The buttons on the front are only decorative.

They do not button or unbutton. Because of arthritis, I no longer wear clothes that I need to button or zip since it is difficult for me. Thank you for this. I appreciate getting to try this dress out.

The fabric is soft and comfortable. Easy to put on over your head. The dress style has an empire waist, instead of the waist being in the middle it is just under the breasts. However when the fabric/pattern was cut out the fabric should have been reversed to cut out the top portion.

Their are birds in the fabric print. The birds on the bottom portion of the dress are perched upright, the birds on the upper portion are upside down. Hence the 3 stars. It was most likely done as a cost saving tactic but in my book it is poor craftsmanship.

You can dress it up or down so it’s very versatile. I’ve worn it several times in the past few weeks and it seems to holding up well to multiple washings. I’m 5’5” 310 lbs and got the 3x and the fit is perfect.

The high waist hits right under my chest the way it’s supposed to, and the sleeves aren’t tight on my large upper arms. I feel like it’s a good value for the price.

Its a cute dress but the size isn’t accurate. The “label size” is what I ordered but it’s about 2 sizes too small. Same issue with other clothing items I’ve bought from Fingerhut. if you want something to actually fit, order a size that’s way too big.

This does not seem like a poly-jersey material, it’s a very see-through knit type fabric. It feels like rayon to me. The neckline is cute though.

I read several reviews to determine what size to get. I’m typically a small, mostly because my chest area is small but my belly and hips are, well let’s just say I have more curve there (5’3, 34B, 135lbs).

I got the small and it fit fine on top but it was body hugging at my hips and as others have said, it hugged my rear end. Not in a flattering way because it shows panty lines and it wasn’t the look I was going for.

If you want the dress to fit like it does on the models, I suggest sizing up. If you want it to be more form fitting, then go for true to size. If you are not curvy, then true to size might work. I swapped mine for a medium and it was gapping a bit in the arm holes but it hung like it does on the models.

I went with the blue because the other colors were dull enough to make the dress seem more like a nightgown on me. I’m not sure how this is possible but the material is thick but still shows lines where it clings and believe me, it clings when it wants to, the material is by no means flowy.

If I didn’t get this on sale (under $10), I would have returned it. I don’t think it’s worth the full price cost. Additionally, the material seems to run easily. I could already see on every dress at the store where I did the exchange, that there were little snags all over.

Small, but noticable. I doubt this dress will last long after a few washes. Time will tell.

First let me say I LOVE this dress. I wish they sold it in more colors – I need every single one of them! I found it to run a little large so I sized down (I have a small and I’m 5’9 and around 155lbs) BUT that being said this dress did shrink considerably the first time I washed it.

I washed in cold water on a delicate/hand wash cycle and let tumble dry low. The hem is at least 2 inches shorter now (where as previously it fell way below my finger tips now it’s just an inch below) and the dress has a more tailored fit now compared to the shift dress fit it previously had.

I still LOVE the dress and will be getting more but beware of shrinkage when choosing your size!.

Debated on this one for a while as I have a similar dress in a fit and flare style. Glad I got this one as I think the sheath cut is a bit more adaptable; I can wear this on a weekend or with a blazer/cardigan to the office.

Hits just above the knee. It’s a thick enough cotton that nothing shows through and the drape is flattering. I am 5’4, 185 lbs. and bought my usual size L which fits TTS and is body skimming and neither loose or clingy.

Wish it had pockets but think that would also detract from the silhouette.

I wanted a ‘little black dress’ which means a plain black dress to dress up or to dress down. I can take this dress anywhere, the beach, the garden, the shops or even out at night if I feel like it. I wanted a dress that would flatter my shape.

I have a larger belly! This skims over it nicely. It is a good length for an older person or simply a person wanting something over the knee. It’s comfortable with being a bit stretchy. Comfortable and stylish my fave type of garments.

Dress it up with jewels or dress it down with leather and seagrass.

This is a super soft, jersey dress. The cross back detail is great and adds a bit of pizazz to a little black dress. The only downside is this dress has no pockets, but other than that, it’s nearly perfect.

Love it!! It’s lightweight and pulls away from me so that it doesn’t make me look like I’m pregnant.

This is surprisingly slimming, although from the front, I think the cut makes my hips pronounced. I don’t love this but my partner does, so I’ll go with it. From the side, it does an astonishingly good job of hiding my belly, considering how much it hugs my hips.

I am 5’2 and although I like the petite length better – it falls right at my ankles – I preferred the black/beige color, so I went with regular length and will pair with wedge espadrilles. My heels are 3-1/2 inches, and the regular length just hovers above the ground with them.

I may have it hemmed up so I can wear with flats. I’m 107# and am somewhere between XXS and XS in non-factory BR. I thought the XXS Petite was just a tight snug along the top, but the XXS regular was just right.

The navy stripes are super flattering and slimming! Falls on your curves in all the right places without being too clingy. Depending what you wear with it, it could pass for casual but def a little more on the formal side.

The only thing I don’t love is that the material is a little thick and heavy, so it could get pretty hot on a nice, sunny day. Measurements are 34DD, 27″ waist, 36″ hips, athletic build and the small fit well.

If you have a smaller bust, maybe size down.

Love how it feels & looks on. Great fit. Print is timeless. Slit is a little high for my taste but I can work around it. Can be dressed up or down. Very versatile.

This dress is a beautiful dress, made with some spandex which makes it fit just right. It is made of good quality material. The maxi and sleeve length are perfect. Happy I was able to purchase this dress.

I was very disappointed with this dress and will be returning. The fabric is stretchy t-shirt material and too casual for the style. The color was also not attractive and is a dull off white color that I am not sure looks good on anyone.

The cut was perfect and it did fit well in my size of 2X Plus. If this dress was white and a smooth and silkier blend fabric it would be a homerun. I am sadly returning this.

I’m a concert violinist who performs for a ton of weddings each summer and this dress it perfect. It’s flattering, modern, yet full coverage and lightweight. It washes well, too! I’ll definitely buy in more colors when available.

I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like this, but it’s hard to deny that this dress is both flattering and super comfortable to wear. Just the right length for me, 5′ 8″ and I cannot find a single thing to complain about.

I love this dress ! The color , plum, is perfect for a fall wedding I’m attending. I am short, but this dress is a great length, will not need to be altered. Material is comfortable and for someone who has a very difficult time finding dresses that fit, this one is perfect.

Only item I’d change, and I am going to have it altered, is I wish it was a V-neck. Current neckline was too high for me.

I returned this dress due to quality of the fabric which doesn’t breathe which is the last thing I want to wear in the hot San Antonio TX weather. I wear an 18 & it also felt heavy too much dress. Over the years I’ve definitely noticed the Avenues clothing quality is not what it once was; I’m referring to 10+ years ago.

I love the style my only issue is that I order all the same size yet 2 of the shirts did not fit. One was snug and close to fitting, one I couldn’t even put on it was so much smaller. Size constancy is the issue.

I love everything about this dress. It fits perfectly, is warm and comfy. My only complaint was in the delivery. I ordered online and had it shipped to my place of employment because we cannot trust having anything sent to our home.

Where my complaint comes in was whoever the carrier was just threw it at the front door of the store I work at instead of bringing it inside. It could have been picked up by anyone. I am just thankful that one of my employees happened to find it laying there and brought it in to me.

I love the dress! I think it’s very comfortable and can be dressed up or down. I’m usually a 2X/18 and ordered a XL according to the size guide, but I could have sized down again, only if I wanted a tighter fit.

Also, I’m short so the dress is kind of long if you’re wearing flats. But, you can definitely use the size guide because it’s accurate. The color looks kind of grey in person, but overall it’s a great dress!.

The fabric is very comfortable and not too light but not too heavy. And not itchy at all. I got it in the dark gray. I love the fact that it has the slits on either side. Those tend to be more flattering on me.

It is a little on the form fitting side in my regular size but I like it. I could try a size larger if I wanted a looser fit. Please make these in other colors!!! Blue, burgundy, eggplant, black!!! I would love to buy more but I don’t’ like the green or cream colors.

I love this dress. Super cute puff sleeves that give it a cute flair. Nice thick comfortable material, washes easily. I wore this to a wedding with nude block heals and got so many compliments. Length is perfect, not too short and not to long.

This dress looks flattering on my body (5’2, I wear sizes 12 and 14) even though I’m short and it didn’t hit me exactly where it should–might get it tailored, but it’s not that big of deal. Overall, it’s a good modest/professional dress.

ALSO! The color looks red, but in person it definitely is an amber, rusty, deep copper color. And very thick and quality material. Worth the price tag!.

Very flattering! I bought it for a wedding and it was comfortable, fitted but not constricting, and the perfect length. I typically wear a 14 but I went with a 16 and it was perfect. Disguised my fat upper arms too.

This dress is amazing!!! I felt classy and comfy. All I can say is the fit is perfect with stretch in all the right places. I usually wear a 16 and that was the size I got. I’m 200lbs and 5ft4in. My only complaint is the material is a little thicker than I thought it would be and it made me really hot when I was dancing at the bar.

So those girls that tend to run hot may want to avoid this dress. I can’t wait to wear this dress again.

Purchasing it online, I did have to order a second dress in next larger size and it fits like a dream. I don’t find the shoulder pads a negative… If anything it creates a longer silhouette for my 5’2” body, and it also accentuates the neckline.

This dress is a dream. It hugs in all the right places. It does have small shoulder pads but they didnt bother me a bit. I think the pads, along w the larger sleeves, made the dress a little more trendy and not so plain.

The material does have a little stretch but overall I found this to be TTS.

Love the cut of this dress. I avoid dresses that hit at the waist, as most women over 55 tend to be thick waisted. And prefer dresses that are umpire or like this one in between. Loose enough not to define the lack of a waist.

Looks great with boots, or wedge. If it were in different prints, I would buy them all. 5’10” plus size, and get lots of compliments when I wear this shirtdress. More lantern sleeve, 2/4 sleeve, umpire maxi’s please!!.

Absofreakenlutely stunning dress. I read all the reviews 1st. Several ladies said it runs small and sleeves were tight. I’m 5’6″ 245lbs. Hour glass shape with big hips/butt. Chunky upper arms(17. 5″).

38C bra size. When dresses have stretch I order a 14/16. When they don’t have stretch I order size 18. For this dress I ordered a size 20 because of the reviews. It fits like a dream. I’m so happy with this purchase.

Loved it! I coupled it with an ecru lace scarf. The dress is soft and comfortable. It fit nicely. I received compliments from stranger while we traveled even! I washed it on delicate and hung it to dry and it did very well.

This dress makes a lovely nightgown. It is quite thin so if I wear it out of the house it requires a tank to be worn so that my bra doesn’t show. And the pockets are functional, but lay funky giving excess bulk to the hip area.

I am size 12, 36A and the medium is a roomy. Perfect fit for me, but a small would have also worked for a tighter fit in the top.

Loose enough to wear long sleeves underneath if office is too cool. Very soft fabric, and weave is cool. Pockets are awesome. Great for the casual look. Nice enough for the office too.

This dress is so flattering and insanely comfortable! Great wardrobe staple. Navy is true to size but I found the black to run 1 size smaller. I’d love to see more from this brand!

This dress just arrived, and I absolutely love the cut of this dress. it has an upside down “Y” seam (I think is called a yolk seam – not sure) that makes me look like I have a waist and my tummy flat.

The color is as vibrant as it seems online. It has a washed look too it; almost heathered (kinda of). I can’t explain it but it is still a lovely dress. I can dress up or down depending on the event.

I purchased the navy and olive color. To give others a reference I am 5’5, 294lbs and I carry quite a bit of my weight in my midsection which this dress camouflages beautiful without a tummy smoother panty.

The dress did not run true to size. When I placed my order, I even ordered 1 size up. When I received my order, the dress clung to all my lumps and bumps. I sent the sml one and only got change as a refund.

I reordered yet another dress even larger and it finally fit the way it should. I’m having to be careful what I order from Avenue from now on. Too bad. I like the dress and the color. I’m not happy abt spending money than was needed for a nice dress.

I love this dress and I have it in three or four colors now. The prints work best with this design. I love that it is cotton and not clingy. Thick enough not to be see through but not heavy. It’s just right.

It could be even better if you offered petite lengths!.
