20 Best Tan Extending Lotion (2022 Updated)

If you’re wondering if this is the old-school vanilla/orangy scent of yesteryear, I’m here to tell you IT IS!!! This scent always takes me right back to the days of indoor tanning in the 90’s. While I don’t indoor tan anymore, I still longed for a moisturizer that had this smell to it.

It is not greasy or heavy and it comes in a nice big bottle w/a pump which makes it super easy to dispense. I wish it was sold in store as it can be kind of a bugger to find it in stock online. It came up the other day and while I didn’t need another yet, I sent one to my daughter as a surprise gift!.

This is absolutely the best After Sun Lotion I have ever used, I feel immediate relief applying one coat of this lotion and if one coat wasn’t enough and your skin absorbs it all, a second or third coat will last all day long, it’s moisture lock works amazing and even great in the Winter to avoid wind burn on your face.

I’ve recommended this product to family and a few of my friends and they absolutely loved it too. Please push this product to more stores so it can be bought when it’s needed. It’s really hard to find.

My husband and I have used this product for years. We use year round because the moisturizing is great and spell is terrific. No perfume needed after applying this lotion. Many compliments on the scent.

Definitely helps maintain your tan for a long time. Can’t believe this is on clearance. Purchasing 6 now and hoping I can get somewhere else if it is discontinued later.

Australian tan extender lotion in vanilla and pineapple is extremely thick. Three to four hours after sun exposure, bath and apply liberally. This lotion smells wonderful yet not too strong. It lasts after being absorbed into damp skin for 24 hours, your tan will look great, feel better and you will receive many compliments.

The only issue I found is with the pump itself. I phoned Australian Gold for pump replacements as I bought two different scents in this lotion. This is my reason for giving it 4 stars. However, it’s worth $15.

00 for a large bottle and I will buy more. It’s wonderful. I recommend this product made by Australian Gold.

I am in l o v e love with this product! I was having severe issues with dry skin after tanning. I’m talking severe I was itching and I was getting to the point where I thought I was going to have to stop tanning unfortunately cuz it was not working well with my eczema.

then have Nation came along. not only is an extender to prolong your tan and that is sunless as well as tanning bed. But the moisture that you get from this product will make your skin feel as if it drank a big bottle of water.

Amazing. And don’t get me started on how good it smells. I love love love this Hemp Nation lotion by Australian Gold! It’s so moisturizing and smells awesome! Sugar Plum Cookie as pictured is hard to find unless it is close to Christmas. It reminds me of sugar cookies and cupcakes! If you haven’t already try this!.

Daisy and I went to the bahamas on our honeymoon. Daisy wanted to get a tan and I wanted protection from the sun. We tried out this tanning oil since it seemed to accomplish both our goals. We each ended up with a terrible rash everywhere we put it on.

I ended up with it a lot worse than her because I was applying liberally every 80 minutes as directed (I hate getting a sun burn). We broke out on our arms, legs, and especially on the stomach. ZERO stars!! It took us a while to figure out what was causing it since we were traveling and had a lot going on, but we googled this product and saw several of other reviews (CVS, Target, etc) with pictures *oof* that mentioned this.

I do not have especially sensitive skin btw and I’ve never gotten a rash from anything else. Will NEVER use this product again and I think they should have a warning label or something. To be fair, neither of us got a sun burn.

First let me say I’m pale. Like, wicked pale. LIKE, FAMILY CAME FROM IRELAND LESS THAN A CENTURY AGO pale. I know nothing about tanning and do not claim to. I work from home, and on nice days I like to sit on the porch and work, and it was the perfect day for also trying out this product.

I had no idea what to expect, but followed the instructions by applying sunscreen first and then the tanning lotion. I would say within an hour my arms, shoulders, chest, and neck were noticeably darker.

Just as a side note, I tend to burn easily, and I had no burns whatsoever. That said, my legs were a bit more of a challenge- I sat in direct light with my legs up and exposed in the sun, and felt like I wasn’t making any real progress below the knee, but my knees and thighs we’re getting some color.

It kept looking like the lotion was just absorbing into my skin without doing much of anything. i had to keep reapplying in that area to see some results where I did not have to do that anywhere else.

It didn’t bother me so much, it was just an observation. By the end of my workday though, I had a nice sunkissed look that was natural and flattering- not orange or overdone, something I was worried about as such a pale person.

I only wanted a nice healthy glow, and this definitely did that! A few other things to note though: -I bought this online and didn’t expect the actual lotion itself to be brown. I wanted this to be something I could bring to the beach and on vacation, but putting this very dark lotion on my very pale body looked.

a bit problematic. I think this is something I’ll keep in my backyard. -Yes, it smells like chocolate and that smell is definitely subjective. It fades though. -It takes a while for the lotion to dry/absorb, so make sure you give yourself some time before you start moving around and touching things Overall though, I do really like this product! Again, I’m not a tanner, but it got my goal accomplished very easily :).

Gross. If you’re looking for a self tanner than this product is for you. If you have pale skin this product in NOT for you. I’m naturally tanned and bought as a “tan extender” because I’m starting to do some indoor tanning.

This lotion straight up turned my hands and body a horrible oompa loopma streaky orange. WASH YOUR HANDS 10X AFTER APPLICATION. I washed and they still stained!I thought the smell was horrible too. Wasn’t for me, might be everything someone else is looking for.

IM SO OBSESSED I FOUND THIS AMAZING PRODUCT! It literally keeps my tan on soooo much longer and smells absolutely incredible!!!!! I use the same brand this brand of the mousse and oil self tanner and this i use in between applications and seen a huge difference of how much longer it lasts and stays on even longer!!!! Im so happy i love this so much!!!!!.

Great self tan, good size bottle, good packaging. Smells really nice too, doesn’t take long to dry not messy to put on. Just make sure you wash your hands after applying. No complaints here, would recommend, fast delivery.

The first time I ordered Tanceuticals, I relied on my daily moisturizer to help extend the tan. This time, I was glad I added the tan extender to my order. Not only does moisturize nicely, it evens out the color with its light tanning qualities.

It works especially well to even out hands and feet. It takes 2-3 days to see the result of this on top of the tanning products.

I have been using this tan extender now for about a year and I can honestly say that it does everything it says it does. I’ve used this after my spray tans, and after using other tan products, and it truly extends the life of your tan as well as almost eliminating that “patchy dissipated” look that can occur after only a couple days.

You don’t need a lot and it can be applied daily after a shower. I even sloppily apply it when I’m in a rush and it still works great. It gives off a nice moisturizing sheen and has a bit of a coconut smell (which is the only thing I’m not crazy about but lots of people love that scent).

I typically get about 6-7 days of tan life using this, whereas before I’d get about 2-3 days without it. So it basically doubles the life of your tan. I have recently tried two other types of extenders I ordered from Amazon and immediately sent them back and repurchased from TanCeuticals.

The others were much thicker, therefore took longer to apply, and definitely did not work well – if at all. I saw no real difference in my tan. I highly recommended using this extender to anyone who uses a self tanner.

I use this as an everyday lotion between the days I apply the self tanner. It has a very light and pleasant scent and leaves my skin feeling hydrated as sometimes self tanner leaves me feeling dry. I’ve always wondered what “lotion/oil” I could use between applying self tanner because some lotions will “break down” the self tanner.

This one does not do that!! Definitely recommend it and I will purchase again.

I got this to try to extend my tan. It moisturizers awesomely! It lasts for hours. There are anti agent elements to this product, which a huge plus. The only thing that I would change is the fragrance.

It’s supposed to smell like vanilla and pineapple which I love. However, in my opinion, it smells like Nivea and I can’t stand that smell. I would definitely repurchase this, but I would seek out a different scent.

My favorite lotion! I love almost every kind of this brand. I used to tan alot and use this and loved it. Loved the smell. And now I stopped tanning because of winter, and I still use it. Can’t have enough of it.

And with all the different kinds they have. I bet they all smell amazing.

I got this in a peppermint scent 🥰 couldn’t find it on here so figured I’d use this to leave my review as it’s same thing different scent!! (Peppermint is amazing) it has some sparkle in it and makes your skin not only glow, but keep a tan sooooo well 😍 I use it when I don’t get in the tanner for a few days.

I honestly love this stuff!! Good to have on hand for the winter especially as you don’t know when you’ll get to the tanner due to weather 🙂.

LOVEEEEE. Got this at a local tanning salon and let me tell you!!! This moisturizer is sooo thick and buttery. Sometimes i worry i may get dry after tanning or even after a shower but this stuff!! I could swim in it.

It keeps my skin so soft and supple and plump it’s a game changer!.

Love sandalwood fragrance so this is what mainly drew me to the product other than loving the moisturizing benefit of the Hemp Nation lotion. This lotion doesn’t provide quite the moisture as the sugar plum.

I think the lotion is somewhat different with the derma block but it has the benefits of it’s own which I also love. The fragrance is not heavy at all but does seem to linger all day. I do notice a difference in my tan which has seemed to stay longer.

I only get in tanning bed maybe once a week so not a super tanner but have noticed that my tan does seem more intense than before. The warm weather has come so I am in the sun a little more but I still give the lotion the credit since the tan seems to stay and not go away as quickly.

I love this cream but it’s so expensive. It is rich, moisturising and smells lovely but no better than the Lancaster tan maximiser I usually use and for a lot less money. Sisley as a brand is so expensive and while you do get what you pay for in terms of quality ingredients I don’t think an after sun product is worth it unless of course you are lucky enough to have money to burn!.

Bought this for the first time for my holiday to Tenerife. Used it while on holiday and have the most amazing tan. Continued using it on my return and WOW no peeling or dryness and my tan is still super gorgeous.

It’s now going to have to be must buy. Pricey but so worth it.

I received this in a Sisley beauty box and it is wonderful. Sisley sun products are amazing but unfortunately have a price-tag to match. This cream is highly moisturising and nourishing and skin feels fabulously soft after using it.

The fragrance is lovely and it really does preserve a fading tan. I am taking off one star because it is so expensive but otherwise, it’s absolutely brilliant.

I’ve been self tanning for years. That said, this product is an absolute game changer for me on those days that are in between the tan beginning to fade but not so much that it’s ready to be scrubbed off and a fresh coat applied.

The color of the lotion is beautiful! It is a little sticky, so just like a normal self tanner I suggest still wearing dark, loose clothing while you’re marinating in it. I have a light olive complexion for reference.

You can only get this at a professional tanning salon, or online. Norvell is known for their expensive tanning products. This is an extender, and it works amazing. Make sure to wash your hands afterwards, so they don’t stain.

This can be used daily also. Be sure to keep it light around hands, knuckles, and ankles, so theirs no splotchiness. It’s infused with botanicals like watermelon to improve appearance of skin and reduce redness.

Cranberry to help combat free radicals and moisturize skin, and also tomato to help prevent signs of aging and revive your skins glow. Powerful antioxidants make this an amazing tan extender. I believe you can use it for sunless and regular tanning.

I’d advise y’all to STAY AWAY from tanning beds period. You don’t want to look like a piece of leather when your older. You like being tan? Fine. SPRAY TAN IS WHERE ITS AT!.

I’ve tanned in the bed, stand up spray tan with enhancers, spray tan etc over the years & by far this IS the best, perfect for need of automatic tan, doesn’t clog pores & doesn’t cause acne, thoroughly impressed.

I tanned the day b4 a wedding I was in, spray tan & the ladies at the front counter suggested rinsing it off next day and putting this on for any touch-up spots/immediate tan & dang did it do the trick! Wow, this stuff is amazing! Just be careful because it comes out mud color, but don’t worry it doesn’t look like that when you rub it in.

Just be careful because it DOES get on your clothes :/ only thing I regret is not learning of it sooner! Lol Enjoy.

I have used this stuff for many of years. First time I have tried from here but it doesn’t seem to turn out like it normally does. I have chosen dark but it definitely isn’t dark and it is very patchy.

I have exfoliated and applied properly as I always do, but Very disappointed :(.

This is the best self tan i have ever used and i tried many i can tell you. But this is the best by far. I will be back to buy this again in the future. You only need to put a little bit on gloves and rub your hands together and it glides over your skin and gives you an instant glow.

and it gets darker as the day wears on. It doesn’t feel sticky and hasn’t got that horrible tanning smell you get on other brands. and you only need a very small amount as it does go a very long way.

No bigger than the size of a penny size is all you’ll need for 1 arm or leg. even after soaking in bath a little came off but once i had dried, it left my legs looking lush. I’m 1 very happy customer and will always buy this in the future.

Due to this lockdown I’m unable to go sunbeds so first time ever using this. I actually got my partner to do it for me. so I asked him to lightly go over my arms and neck once with hardly any tanning lotion it spread well and I didnt shower it off til the next day when it was perfect part from my legs they were really orange! BUT jumped in shower and exfoliated where I was “orange ” and it faded off nicely and lasted me a week! Perfect! Would buy again.

This product I purchased on Amazon for $7. 98. I typically use bath body works lotion. But I was out and wanted to try something new. This lotion is super moisturizing. Contains vitamin E and is enriched with Aloe.

Leaves my skin feeling soft for the entire day. I do tan slot so im not sure if it helps keep a tan. But it seems to keep my bronze look. However the only issue I have is the smell. I use to use Australian Gold tanning bed lotions and this smells just like them.

I wish they had changed the smell to a clean smell. I do t like smelling tanning lotion after my showers. Otherwise it’s a great product and I would purchase again.

This is one of my favorite moisturizers. I love using it in the summer or after tanning but is is great all year round. The smell is really light and fruity and it hydrated the skin without leaving a sticky film.

This lotion is also great for sunburns.

A tried and true favorite I have never had an issue with this product except for my own stupidity it WILL STAIN YOUR HANDS UNLESS YOU PROTECT APPLY AND RINSE QUICKLY FROM HANDS AND KNUCKLES , my little secret I have for a consistent non streaky look is applying over my body and near certain spots such as knuckles, knees, elbows, ankles, any part that can streak or look iffy I use a separate lotion and smooth it over for a subtle tan and perfect blend into the skin.

I think with only one application i see results which is amazing the price point hasn’t changed in years and i highly recommend using this ! This is the best! Gives a natural looking tan without an artificial orange look! No streaking or patches. Also smells great! Doesn’t have the odor of a fake tanner. Lasts for weeks, and is super moisturizing to the skin, so it can be used in place of a nightly moisturizer.

Doesn’t really rub off on clothing but I would still be cautious with white sheets or clothing (especially if sweating).

I’m not really a fan of this tan extender. Despite wearing good sun protection during the summer, I end up quite a bit darker than I am in the winter because I spend a lot of time outside. Since I’m already da sheet, I want to extend that coloring through the fall so I tried this.

I didn’t feel like it was moisturizing enough for me personally (I do have drier skin) and it definitely did nothing by way of extending my tan. Unfortunately, for me, it was a flop.

I actually got this as a mini moisturiser tester in a Birchbox last Christmas. I ran out of my normal moisturiser and remembered I had this. I used it for a few weeks but only on my face as I (to be 100% honest) didn’t read it properly.

I have suffered for the past 6 years with very sore hormonal cystic acne. I now have zero spots on my face! I don’t know if it is a mixture of not being in a stuffy office for 4 months and also this but I’ve now been back in work full time for over 3 weeks and still don’t have a single spot on my face! I am praying this is the miracle cure I have been searching for! I have had an endless list of medicines, lotions and potions prescribed and nothing has ever worked, but always swore by fake tan helping my skin for some reason.

I’m not one for applying fake tan continuously but this I feel with having tanning agents in it has completely rescued my face! Will be forever using this so please don’t ever discontinue! Smelled awful and it lingered and never went away. Gave me a horrible headache. Otherwise, it’s a nice lotion. It went on easy and was nice and moisturizing. Didn’t see any color using it once, but I will never use again to see what the color would be because of the smell.

Finally bought the gradual tan lotion and I’m so happy I did! I use it with the coconut water tanning spray, I apply the lotion after the spray dries into the skin. That duo gives a beautiful deep bronze color, keeps my skin super hydrated, and using this lotion everyday before bedtime keeps my tan glowing and keeps it from fading blotchy.

I love this self tanner! The scent is coconuty but fades. This is the first self tanner that doesn’t have that yucky smell! Also I’m very pale and this gradually builds and looks natural without turning orange.

And no rinsing! I put it on after my shower (and even after shaving with no irritation), then by the time I’m ready, it’s dry enough to get dressed. It’s actually a very nice moisturizer at the same time! This is definitely the best I’ve tried and I’ve tried a lot!.

I have used many self tanning lotions and this one is by far the best! It doesn’t have the stinky smell that most self tanners do and it gives a perfect, real sun-kissed looking tan. When I first used it I was surprised by the lotion being black however it easily absorbs into skin and the color makes it easy to see where you have applied and where you didn’t.

I typically apply after showering once a week before bed and by the morning I have a beautiful tan. Just make sure you rub it in completely and allow it to dry before getting dressed.

I purchased this based on the reviews from Lovelskin. This product takes lots of time to apply and then wait for it to dry. It turns the skin on my hands dark. You have to apply sparingly. I recommend washing hands every few minutes while applying.

It did have a good color on my skin when applied sparingly.

I love this gradual tanner. The color shows up after one application I put in on every day after putting a regular lotion on my dry areas. This smells SO GOOD. Best gradual tanner smell, color is bronze not orange, and the color shows up very quickly.

I use it alone for a subtle glow or over a once a week tan. It prolongs a tan beautifully or builds up a beautiful color on its own. I have gotten so many compliments. My favorite tanning product yet seriously.

Smells really good going on, but still has that after tan scent a few hours later. A nice thick cream that went on well and dried down fast. Didn’t feel sticky or tacky at all and my skin felt moisturized.

Also I didn’t have any skin reactions like I typically do with other self/gradual tanners/lotions. 1st day of use I didn’t see much of a difference, but then again it is a gradual tanner. Then on the morning after my 2nd day application I noticed the color.

Unfortunately it ended up a funky yellow-y orange tint and streaky on me, when it sure felt like I applied it in even layers and really rubbed it in. Sadly I won’t be using this anymore and with only two uses, the bottle is still full.

No matter how good this product may be for moisturising and giving a ‘golden glow’ for me after just one application, it’s unusable. The smell of the cream is really choking, pungent and unpleasant, reminiscent of early fake tan products from decades ago.

Worse, the odour doesn’t fade either, hours after applying it I can still smell it. Very disappointing.

I absouletly love this lotion for after laying in the tanning bed. It has has the best smell ever and thats whats so great about is. If you wanna get a quick lay in before work or something but you hate that after smell of when you set out of the tanning bed, even with some of your best smelling tanning products.

You still will have kinda that tanning bed smell. But not with this lotion you wont. And the bonus bonus features is the silicon in it. The way it makes your skin so soft and silky smooth. This lotion has all the bonus’ if you ask me me a woman.

This shaving lotion is amazing. My pump took forever to start dispensing product, but once it did I fell in love with this product. I apply and let it sit for a minute or so, then shave in short gentle strokes.

I normally always have razor burn and it stings to put lotion on immediately after shaving, but not when I use this. It’s amazing. Smells delicious too. It’s so hydrating on its own you probably don’t even need lotion after using.

I’ll buy this as long as they continue making it!.

I have just started shaving and this product is great! Every time you shave you take off some of your tan and this product also has bronzer in it so that doesn’t happen. I use this and I don’t have to shave for 5-6 days.

I have been using No Apologies as a shaving lotion for years. It’s affordable and greatly reduces my irritation. It smells strong in the shower, but leaves a nice scent behind. It’s advertised as a no water lotion, but it works best for me in the shower.

Overall, a good product for its price point. Just make sure you buy it at a licensed store!.
