20 Best Tandem Pedal Kayak (2022 Updated)

I’m giving Brooklyn Kayak 5 stars based on the following: The kayak came wrapped really nice with a protective covering. The pedals were boxed, encased in dual side foam, and taped to the kayak very securely.

The peddles and seats sit inside the Kayak so they are basically protected from damage. The Kayak overall is very nice, solid, and seems heavy duty. I have not had a chance to use it on the water yet, and I am currently in the process of assembling the pedals.

I will however test the kayak this weekend on the water. Myself and my wife both got one delivered at the same time. If I can edit this review I will come back and give an update after I take it on the water Saturday.

I also took pictures but I don’t see anywhere on this review where I can upload them to the site. Visually, overall I am very pleased. Nothing appears to be damaged as it was well packaged, but again I will test it out on the water this weekend.

Very spacious and an affordable buy. The price of the Hobie made me buy this one after some research lol Glad I did. $5,000+ was a little steep compared to the price of Brooklyn Kayak.

This is a great kayak. I have a service dog who goes everywhere with me, I am a Disabled Vet. My dog was right at home on the kayak, we have plenty of room. The peddle drive is nice and easy to peddle.

Rod holders, storage and accessory mounts are all very well thought out and great to have. Customer Service is very responsive. We worked thru a shipping issue and BKC made it right. Thumbs up for Customer Service too.

Others say the weight is an issue. Ok, when out of the water, it is a bit heavier than smaller kayaks. But in the water that same weight makes this kayak very stable, easy to stand & cast and my service dog does (83lbs) does not tip the kayak when he moves around.

So if you realize you are buying a ocean capable, fishing kayak, the weight is one of the assets of this kayak. Plan to use a cart when moving on land if needed and you will be good. You will really like the few extra pounds when on the water.

I believe I could even throw a small cast while standing in this kayak. The seats are comfortable and well made. My cooler even has a place to be stored behind my seat. Two thumbs up for this kayak. As for cons… only one I could think of was no oar holders.

It is a peddle kayak. But there are plenty of oar holders available that will work for this kayak and the four accessory plates make it easy to add what works best for you.

I have had my Kayak for 2 Months now and have rode (Kayaked?) over 120 miles. First I will say one of the pedals had a manufacturing defect when I got it. I emailed the company and got a response with 24 hours and repair parts were sent right after.

Unfortunately the repair parts did not fix the problem. I contacted the company again and within 24 hours (actually I think it was about 3 hours later) said they would send another pedal kit. They did and it works perfectly! I don’t have a problem if there is a manufacturing defect that happens.

We just retired and built a house on the lake with new appliances. Believe me there are always manufacturing defects. Here is how I judge a company, what do you do? Brooklyn Kayak Company made it right without giving me a hard time.

I wish I could say the same thing about Whirlpool, but that is another review. First, I love my Kayak! We live off a lake and I ride it nearly every day. Perfect around the lake. I have a bone spur in my foot and finding an exercise that doesn’t aggravate this is very difficult.

Peddling around the lake has been a great exercise for me. I travel by myself about 3 miles an hour. Some people have asked if you can go by yourself in a two person Kayak. The answer is yes, generally I go by myself and occasionally my wife joins me.

Very stable you can stand in it without tipping. I highly recommend this Kayak and the company.

We have had this kayak for about 3 months and just go it on the water this weekend. We utilized on both still and flowing water. On the lake, I was super impressed with how well the unit tracked as well as the stability.

Within a few minutes, our strokes were in synch and we were outpacing others we were traveling with. We made no effort to cast opposing or at opposite times and had no rocking. On the river, we floated a five-mile stretch, fishing the whole way.

There were segments of smooth, gradual flow, and other areas that were moving very fast with white water action. had we been able to of traveled the length of those rapids we probably would have stayed dry.

Since we had to cross the river in the fast-flowing section, we took on some water. One dry box stayed dry, one did not. Overall we are very pleased.

So far so good on my Kayak. The logo sticker on mine came a little damaged. When I contacted BKC they sent me a kayak cart for my troubles. The only issue I have with it is that the dry storage compartment let in some water today.

I used it in some wavy and windy conditions and the kayak got some water in it. When my wife opened her dry storage compartment her items were wet. I’ll have to research some more and see if this issue continues.

Other than that. The seats are comfortable. I would prefer it if the rod holders had slots next to both seats. I do like the bungee cord storage in the back. Overall it’s a good kayak, not great.

Great product for a price. Who sings a Cadillac compared to my $50 Walmart special from before. It’s going to make floating on the Rio Grande a game changer. Awesome that they put in two blocks away from my house.

I won’t know how it rides till the snow is melting it’s the middle of winter right now. But I’ll give it five stars for the construction and timeliness of it getting to my house. Also It’s longer than some of my friends Rafts.

Should be fun.

I bought this in December and haven’t yet been able to take it out on the river yet, but I have tested it on a lake. I’m mostly comparing it to the older Tomcat solo model and an older Sea Eagle 380x.

First, this is a newer model (2017, I think); if you’re looking up reviews on kayaking blogs they are typically referring to the old version. This is too bad as this one actually addresses some of the complaints and adds some new features: WEIGHT: The weight posted on the item description here is 54 lbs, but it’s actually 42 lbs now.

DRAINAGE: The new drainage system is fantastic – there are large mesh gaps on the side that should be able to drain water more quickly than the older design. FLIP HANDLES: There are also new flip handles on the which will be handy if it flips while loaded up.

SEATS: The seat design is simple, but I think the valves on them are great – perfect for top offs by mouth and the cap reverses to deflate. SEAMS: One thing that used to separate the Tributary line from their American-made counterparts were the stitched seams (I saw some reports of these splitting over time) – they are now welded.

FLOOR STRAPS: There are looped floor straps spaced throughout each side. I recall those not being there in the older model (I think you had to loop them yourself through the bailing holes in the floor).

One thing I really like is that with the rounded floor design, the kayak doesn’t hold water. With the older Sea Eagle 380x I have, water pools up and makes paddling sluggish. There are no scupper plugs, but on a lake you wont get very wet since you float pretty high.

The handling seems responsive and the tracking isn’t terrible, even without a skeg (although this is definitely a river kayak). We got the lime color and it looks really nice in person. I’ve added a motorcycle cargo net to help hold items down in the back and thigh straps.

I will probably add some D-ring patches eventually, but right now it’s just too pretty.

We have two Tomcat tandems already and this is our third. It is identical to one we already have. Great boat! Air Kayaks was easy and quick, everything was exactly as expected. We have taken these down both the upper Hiwassee and the middle Ocoee rivers with great success.

This is just a great all-around kayak. The kayak paddles very well and glides through the water. A gentle effort will reward you with a 2 / 2. 2 mph average speed and you can push it up to 3. 6/ 4. 0 mph if you are determined.

As far as stability goes, it has very good initial stability, but it will dump you if you lean over too far. However, I think Perception did a good job with the hull design and seems to have threaded the needle between stability and performance.

With that said, I think they may oversell the stability of this boat. When you lean over the boat will roll to that side and will eventually stop at the next chine. However, it is enough of an angle that you will fall out if you are leaning too far out.

I for one don’t find it to be a problem, because I don’t expect my kayak to be stable like a jon boat, but I do expect it to paddle well and this one does. The molded in rod holders are too shallow for most rod, but a 1.

5 lb anchor fits in there nicely. There are also two subtly marked locations for installing your own flush mount rod holders. The gear tracks work very well and are positioned such that you can easily reach the full length of the track.

The front hatch is awesome and gives you access to the interior of the boat, including a long center section running the length of the boat. While you could not get them out when on the water, it would be a great place to store a spare rod or paddle.

The molded in handles are functional, but a “jug” style handle like on the bow / stern would have been nice. At 57 lbs, it is a little heavy, but manageable and I can load / unload the boat by myself.

The weight capacity seems to be legit, as I am 210 lbs and carry another 20 lbs of gear without swamping the boat. Finally, the foot pegs are a little uncomfortable on bare feet, but I purchased the larger padded foot pegs that Perception sells via (Harmony) as a nice upgrade.

All in, this is a great kayak.

Got the Perception Pescador 10 footer for fishing. The kayak itself feels durable and does have plenty of storage if you carry a cooler/milk crate in the back. The adjustable foot rests feel flimsy. Theyre made of plastic and the tabs on them feel like they could break if you push against them to sit yourself up.

The rod holders are also very wide and not very deep so a light tackle rod just flails around while youre paddling and hits you in the back or shoulder or worse your paddle. Stability is good for sit-down only.

I wouldn’t recommend standing unless youre very light (150 max) and water is calm. I’m 230 and the kayak flips very easily and with the width being so small at 32”, it’s hard to turn around without nearly capsizing so it does take some effort to pick yourself up, turn around in your seat for best center of gravity, and then reaching to whatever you have stored in the back.

Against current the kayak is very tiring to paddle so time your tides right. Storage isn’t completely dry either so get a wet bag if you’re gonna use it. Would need to option this one up of you want to be better but then might as well invest in a 1000.

Beautiful colors and a smooth ride! There is enough room in the back for my dog and with an added mat she seems very comfortable. The seat I had to replace with my own for more lumbar support and the storage compartment seal is less than ideal.

The Malibu ocean kayak 9. 5/11. 5 has the most ideal compartment. Overall a nice kayak though.

I bought this model in 2008 and have enjoyed it every summer our in open waters. Handles boat wakes and 2 ft seas with ease. Very steady and stable. The flexible seat config worked well when my kids were small and now when it’s just me.

Even brought the dog with me several times (Put a blanket on the front for him). It’s faded quite a bit from the sun but is still highly visible to boats.

I bought this kayak used from a rental facility, along with an extra seat; they cut out the center oval for extra storage. We paddled in the Malibu on inland lakes with two adults and a kid for years, until our son was 8yo.

Aside from scratches all along the bottom from being dragged to/from the car/water, none of which put the kayak at any risk, and some sun fading, it’s good as new. I think a tank could run over it and leave only scratches.

At 68 lbs it’s unwieldy out of the water, even for two strong adults, but it beats lugging around a tandem + a single just to take a small family on the water for an afternoon. Easy to hop in and out of for quick swims, and lots of places to clip carabiners for whatever random stuff you’d like to take with you.

Can’t recommend it highly enough!.

This is my second ocean kayak and I’m not disappointed. Great stable hull that tracks well and isn’t too sluggish even with the XL’s size. Got this to get family out on water more this summer and so far it’s been great.

Enough room for myseld and two kids (+small dog) and not feeling cramped. I’m not a fan of Ocean Kayak’s “gaspachi” hatches but it’s easy enough to install a locking “solid” hatch instead although finding an 8″ hatch to fit the oval hatch area is challenging.

Bought this kayak to replace an older Pelican sit-on-top tandem which was uncomfortable for myself, my husband and our 50 lb dog. The Malibu Two is much more comfortable for all of us giving my husband at the back enough leg room, lots of room for our dog in the middle and a comfortable configuration for my legs in front.

It tracks better than the Pelican and is nice and stable even when our dog get wiggly. It is still very heavy to manage out of the water (lighter than the Pelican) but the handles on the side make it a lot easier and together we can load it onto the top of our camper.

My only beef with the kayak (and the reason I can’t give it 5 stars) is that I can’t keep my “behind” dry! The self-bailing holes on either side of the front seat act as blow holes that shoot up water into the front seating area in small waves or chop (like a boat wake) so on every paddle, I am pretty much guaranteed to end up with wet pants (and sitting in a puddle).

Also, the kayak also doesn’t take chop or waves over the bow well and the person in the front is guaranteed to get quite wet if you have to paddle straight into them as we did recently when the wind came up on our return to our parking spot (I was soaked).

So it is a great kayak for warmer weather when you don’t mind getting wet, but I would not use it for paddling in cold lakes in cold weather. This may be somewhat the downside of the sit on top kayaks, but it seems the seating could be designed a bit more thoughtfully to mitigate the problem.

I bought this over a year ago because I was told they discontinued the Frenzy and this model replaced it. I needed something for surf fishing. I have used it twice in the bay where it’s calm. Too much drag causing to use up a lot of energy to get to the fishing spot.

Also doesn’t track very well. Constantly wants to spin around. I don’t want to even use this in the surf. If it performs this bad in calm water, I don’t want to venture into waves with it. Deeply disappointed in it.

Also deeply disappointed in Ocean Kayak for discontinuing the Frenzy. That was the best surf kayak I have ever used and was very popular in my area.

Great color and style for a recreational kayak — stable and pet friendly – which is what I was looking for. However, I paddle the ocean sound and in any amount of wind it’s horrible. I frequently have to paddle on one side just to keep it straight and it’s a constant fight even very moderate conditions, impossible with any kind of tide or wave action.

I own the 11. 5 Malibu – got the long boat for better tracking and it’s just awful. Why isn’t there a skeg with this kind of performance? And $300 for a rudder in addition to the $700 price tag? For $1000 neighborhood, a better all round kayak is possible.

Really disappointed. I’ll have to sell it to save my shoulders since it’s rarely glass-like conditions on the coast.

As a woman, I wanted a kayak design that takes that into consideration but was also aesthetically appealing. I took this out for the first time during a Full Moon Paddle camping/kayaking trip. My first time out was at about 12:30am, under a full moon.

It handled beautifully & had great stability & I felt very safe. I must add that I am somewhat new to kayaking & this was only my 4th trip. This kayak makes me want to go more frequently, it was such a pleasure to paddle.

I love all the compartments & drink holder & the seat is so comfortable! My towel & dry bag stayed dry in the Click Seal Bow Hatch. I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase & I received a lot of compliments.

A breast cancer survivor friend even commented on the pink ribbon decal & that is just an added bonus that Ocean Kayak is conscientious about giving back, as I lost my mother to breast cancer. I highly recommend this product!.

IšverstiShow in original languageGreat kayak for this first time owner. I picked this model because of how high the seat is. All the kayaks I sat on at stores were very uncomfortable and the Recon 120 is by far the most comfortable.

The seat is cool, comfortable, and the angle of backrest easily adjustable. It is well-laid out and plenty of space for gear. Just took a 4 day paddle/fish/camp trip in northern Wisconsin and all of my gear fit – 2 fishing rods, tackle, food, tent, sleeping bag, thermarest mat, and backpack – with room to spare.

I did need a slightly longer paddle due to being so high out of the water but the company from which I purchased swapped them out for me free of charge. The kayak is pretty heavy and had to use my Kayak Kart for portages.

The Kart made it easy to push on the trails and up and down hills. I really recommend this Kayak and couldn’t be happier!.

Despite minor imperfections from the manufacture but this kayak rocks! I took it out yesterday and brought in several big fish, just having this front hatch was worth the money to keep my catch. For me It’s hard finding places to put fish on a kayak and usually the stringer bounced me all over and the weight was making me lean, no room top side do to limited space.

I’m disabled an ankle injury which affects my balance but in this yak I felt comfortable enough to stand up Turn around and stake a few steps. Lastly, I didn’t get stiff, there is room to stretch and flex no more Charlie horses for me! Tempted to buy a second one, but they are hard to get.

– I’ll buy from cedar creek anytime and have to say they quickly became my favorite online outdoor store.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’m a long term sea-kayaker, but I wanted a smaller sit-on top for myself and my girlfriend to use with space for our dog. After a lot of youtube research, I concluded the Tarpon range looked well made and had great reviews.

I can confirm that this is a VERY well designed kayak, the hatches and handles and small details are excellent and well thought through. The seat is comfy and has excellent back support. The hatches have levers to secure them so you dont need to struggle with wet hands getting the edges over a lip etc.

The kayak itself tracks AMAZINGLY well through the water, with minimal drag and excellent tracking. You could paddle a good long way in a day on this without tiring too much. I should add that I’m a chunky lad of 6″2′ and 120+ KGs and I float ok in the 120! Bigger folk might want to get a 140.

I love how sturdy the lifetime spitfire tandem kayak is. I like the storage compartment with the lid to keep items cool and dry. the dry bag that came with the kayak fits inside as well. When we got home we noticed a clip to attach the strap for the seat was missing.

We called lifetime and they are sending a replacement piece and a couple extra just incase. The kayak is a lot heavier than we thought it would be. We ordered a kayaking cart to help carry for longer distance that we can not drive to drop off.

We had a blast on the lake. Definitely a great buy for the price!.

When I first purchased the kayak BJs gave me the wrong one. It was wrapped so I didn’t notice until I got home. Had to lug the thing back and exchange it but they no longer had the one I wanted in stock.

So I had to find another local bjs with the kayak. After picking up the new one. We used it twice. After each user we noticed a little water inside the hull. Upon inspection the kayak seam was cracked.

I contacted BJs and they don’t warranty this so I have to go back to the manufacturer. I have opened a warranty case and awaiting the results.

We took our newly bought spitfire out today on it’s maiden voyage and this thing handled like a champ. Tracks in the water beautifully. Felt very stable and controllable by even one pilot if necessary.

Took some doing to adjust the seats exactly how we wanted them but once we settled in and got situated this tandem took me and my two boys (90lbs each) without flaw it was a great day. Looking forward to using this Kayak the entire season!.

We thought buying this kayak would allow our 6’ plus two hundred pound boys a chance to kayak. We thought we were safe because they were under 500 limit. but the storage bin for “dry goods” let water in and they had to stop in a nature reserve because they took on water through the compartment! How do you fix that? 500-600$ kayaks should at least hold what they advertise.

Really like this kayak. Well built and tons of fun in the water. I like the flexible seating configuration. We can easily get three people on this thing, no problem. I took my boys fishing and had me and two boys on it fishing together and it was great.

Plenty of room. Stable on the water. It is super heavy though, so it is a beast to lug around. Most kayaks and can I put on the roof of our suburban by myself, but this one I need help. So just be aware.

It says it only weighs 77 lbs, but this thing is at least 100 lbs, no joke. Makes it really sturdy on the water. Also, I don’t like that there are drain holes in the boat. It causes water to seep in and gets my butt wet.

Not a huge deal, but I like to stay dry ya know? Otherwise it’s a great boat. Good investment since these last forever and hold their value. Used ones sell for the same price as new.

We bought our first kayak, the Kokanee, from the first owner of it. We’re really happy with it, it’s easy to maneuver with one or two people and we’ve never been close to tipping it. It is a little heavy to load onto the top of our Jeep, but not unmanageable.

The straps for the chairs were messed up when we got it and I called customer service to see about buying new straps for them. Ian was super helpful – he asked me for the numbers on the kayak and found that the kayak was still under warranty.

So they sent me replacement straps for the chairs for free, even though I wasn’t the original owner! This kayak and the customer service has made it easy for us to have fun kayaking and if we get another kayak we’ll definitely look into the Lifetime products.

This is a great kayak, after researching, I decided on this one. I have 2 little kids (5 and 7) and a 60 pound dog, all 4 of us can sit on this comfortably. My only issue is that I was looing for a kayak with a compartment that could be used as a cooler – this is advertised as having 2 storage compartments.

It is not in stores, so I couldn’t go look at it. There is ONE storage compartment – which does not work as a cooler at all, since it is the ENTIRE inside of the kayak, just has 2 access holes. I am dissatisfied that it is advertised incorrectly, however, I am keeping the kayak, I use the built in bungee to hold onto my cooler, and use the “storage compartment” to put garbage in, so it doesn’t get in the river.

It gets a 4 out of 5 because of the storage compartment issue. If you purchase this, it is a GREAT kayak – we love it. I just wanted a built in storage area that could be used as a cooler. Be aware that it DOES NOT have 2 storage compartments, only ONE and it is the entire inside of the kayak (fishing out the garbage is fun), it just has 2 small (not air tight- water does get in, if it is outside and raining turn it upside down! When in the river, water does not get in the compartment).

If you are looking for a built in cooler type storage – this is not what you are looking for. However, since it is sold and shipped by Walmart – returns are super simple and it can go back to the store with no problems.

I chose to keep it, since the price and the pros outweigh the 1 con of this kayak. I can still have my cooler, and having a secure place for trash is wonderful. Keep our waters trash free!.

Purchased earlier in Spring 2022. I have taken it out once to a local lake on a windy day. Overall it was very stable. It does get turned somewhat easily by the wind, but with both paddlers in sync, you can make good progress and it tracks well.

I would recommend this kayak at this price point. We’re already looking at other fun trips throughout late spring and summer to go tandem! Don’t forget to also get scupper plugs (for the holes in the bottom) if you intend paddling when the water is still somewhat cold.

Been after this kayak for years. Very hard to find one locally. When we finally did, we sprung for it and bought it. It’s an amazing yak with plenty of room. The ONLY downside is the seats. You pay hundreds of dollars for a yak and they throw $20 seats in them.

Zero back support. We almost returned it but have since decided to upgrade the seats to what Perception SHOULD be putting in there. You need to have at LEAST a 20” back in this yak. The ones they put in there are no more than 10”-12” on the back.

I know for a fact, it doesn’t cost much to mass produce these yaks, so Perception should throw in high back seats. I’m a staunch Perception supporter but this one has me second guessing that. Next yak won’t be a Perception due to their lack of knowledge in what the customer wants and needs.

This has been a great purchase. There is literally nothing but “seats” that come with it. Bought plenty of things online, at Dicks, and other retail stores to customize this kayak to turn it into and angler kayak.

Been great taking the kids out, as well as the wife for just some good relaxing fishing time, and to be able to get into places boats can’t, and places I can’t reach from shore. I have even used it solo, and it treks great, and even as large as it is, easy to control, with or without help.

I bought my 2015 Revolution 13 secondhand on Craigslist in 2020. Since then, I’ve taken it out offshore dozens of times here in Hawaii to target pelagic fish such as Yellowfin Tuna, Mahimahi, Wahoo, and Sailfish.

I often pedal 6-8 miles round trip and I honestly didn’t even realize it was that far until I GPS tracked my route one day. The Mirage Drive GT is very efficient and makes it easy to move 2. 5-3. 5 MPH at a leisurely pace.

That being said, this kayak does have some shortcomings that need to be addressed. For starters, Hobie please get your act together and make a kayak you advertise as being seaworthy WATERTIGHT. The twist and stow hatches, front hatch, and rudderline ports all let water in.

I have a significant amount of seawater in my hull after every trip, especially if the conditions are choppy and I take waves over the bow and sides. Second, the Revolution 13 has a relatively low weight capacity.

I weigh 200 lbs, my fish bag with ice is another 40 lbs, and my gear is at least 15 lbs. That leaves very little capacity to store fish. Some have told me to just get an Outback because it has a 450 lb weight limit, but that kayak is so much heavier, wider, and slower.

In summary, the Revolution 13 had gotten the job done for me, but in some ways I’ve had success in spite of the design, not because of it. You can’t call a kayak that takes on gallons of water on a 5 hour trip seaworthy.

Especially for the price you pay nowdays to get one brand new. My Ocean Kayak that cost less than 1/3 what a revo13 does won’t take on water even if I roll it in the surf. Not a drop. I’m sure Hobie could do the same if they really tried.

Paid for a new kayak. recieved one that had obviously been used. A bunch of sanding marks. heat fixes. actually dirty, had to wash it with dawn soap to get the oil and dirt off of it. After the first trip and unloading it from the top of the truck, something came loose inside the kayak.

We open it up and pull out a hammer. Yes, a steel headed, wood handled, hammer. Im still speechless weeks later.

Hobie is known for quality and this entry level kayak opens you to the world of their product eco system. They pioneered the fin-type drive that allows you to pedal as shallow as 8 inches of water (I believe) by using short back and forth pedal strokes.

In addition, this style of drive is less likely to tangle in long grass and weeds compared to propeller style drives. Product quality and warranty is hard to beat!.

Could not find an outback near me. they had this in stock. Purchased in mid April. Great shipping through Old Dominion. Kayak was perfect. Highly recommend this company. I had a 2017 Outback and it’s obvious Hobie is stepping up their game.

I love the retractable transducer plate. it’s nice to pull it up and protect it as I’m coming in. They added storage space along both gunwales in the cockpit. and a place for grippers, bait knives, etc.

Previously I had to install tracks but this comes standard now. Mirage 180 drive is smooth as butter and I like that it now has the kick up fins if I run into something. Highly recommend this great kayak.

Maiden voyage in the 2020 outback today. Wind blowing 15-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph and the outback handled it like a dream. There’s nothing negative to say about this yak. It tracks great, it turns great, it rides great, storage is great, controls are great, etc.

Coming from another pedal yak (which was very nice) to this one is night and day. The outback surpassed all my expectations. If you have a chance to test one, take it. If you have the opportunity to buy one, don’t hesitate.

The big price tag is worth it.

Great experience overall, the Kayak came in basically perfect condition (there’s one very small nick, near one of the rails which is relatively unnoticeable). Shipping was easy as well, PaddleVA set up freight with Old Dominion (OD), they gave me a call to schedule a drop of time and was seamless.

Even the driver was very pleasant and gave me a hand with unloading it to my drive-way. The kayak came wrapped like a tank, (the driver actually made a comment how he was even surprised by how well wrapped and protected the kayak was.

Overall a 6/5 experience (caught a nice pickerel on it’s maiden voyage as well).

This is the 3rd Hobie and 5th kayak overall that I have purchased from Appomattox River Company. They provide outstanding customer service. The Hobie Outback is performing as expected. It is an excellent fishing platform and an overall great boat.

I bought my kayak from Paddlers Cove on March 17, 2021 one of the best shops for kayaks I have ever been too. I’ve now been fishing out of the kayak for 8 months and love the PDL system and the boat.

The seat has become a problem in the last month. Both rivets that hold the lower seat bar for the back rest have now popped out allowing the seat back lower bar to slide out of place. This happened while fishing and no longer supported my back.

Could not lean back on the seat so was forced to sit upright and peddle from that position. Was not very comfortable position to peddle from on the kayak. Pulled to the shore and upon inspection found that both holes for the rivets were deformed which allowed the rivets to fall out of place.

I found one of the rivets and was able to push it back into place. I also found a screw in my tackle box which fit the other hole so I could continue to fish. If not for the seat would have given the Predator 5 stars.

We have lots of experience with canoes and flat bottom boats, but this is the first fishing kayaks. Yes, plural. We bought two. The wife is as happy as I am, and she is a tiny little woman. Easy to maneuver, fast on the water and very stable.

Surprisingly agile as a “paddle” kayak. Inserted drive insert for test. Some areas we travel are shallow. Very pleased. Local river and lake so far, but they will be going out onto the Bay soon. Eco Fishing Shop did a great job and the delivery company was top notch.

I had my eye on this kayak for a couple years before finally pulling the trigger and Eco Fishing Shop made this a very easy purchase, and I was able to get quick updates using their website chat feature.

The kayak itself is built rock solid, extremely stable and tons of storage space which is great for those long days on the water. I had this out in high winds on a smaller lake with 2-3′ waves and didn’t feel unsafe going through that water at all.

The seat is comfortable, fully adjustable and there is ample room for anyone of just about any height. I would highly recommend this kayak to anyone in the market for a seriously tough and roomy kayak.
