20 Best Tank For Shrimp (2022 Updated)

Was surprised about the size and the fish love it, the tank is ideal for small fish only and the water surface is broken by air bubbles coming up the Centre tube to ensure fish have plenty of oxygen in the water for them to be health.

This in turn creates draw through a filter which cleans the water and the alfagrogg substrate helps to contain good bacteria to eat away waste from the tank to make it less harmful to fish, a 15 percent water change every two weeks is ideal to freshen the water but that’s worth it to make the fish live happy.

Worth the money.

This is fantastic looking and so easy to set up with instructions on everything. I have to be honest we still dont have the light settings sussed but everything about it is clean and modern looking. It comes with everything you need to start it including the wee rocks that you use as you cant use gravel.

It is expensive but its one of those that you get what you pay for.

I really like this fish tank, I purchased to replace the original round BiOrb I have had for years. Old one still in good condition, just wanted a change. The shape of the BiOrb Life 60 is modern and shows off the fish very well, which I worried about since the round one is clear all around not just in the front and back.

The opening at the top is a good size, again something I was worried about, thought it may be small, but was glad to see it wasn’t. Recommend it!.

If you go to Fluval’s website you will see that they don’t recommend any tank under 20 gal. The light is overly bright and causes ton’s of algae. I have to scrape the sides with a razor blade every 4 days.

The inlet and outlet are on the same side of the tank making for circular water flow. I have to shut the filter off to feed the fish as the food gets sucks right into the filter. In the first 4 weeks of having this tank the pump wouldn’t restart twice after being shut off and needed to be taken apart to get to work again.

The suction cups on the bottom of the pump pull off when removing pump and the space is so small there is no way to get them out. Don’t get gravel or anything else in the bottom of the filter section as you won’t be able to remove them.

In case you are wondering, the pump is on the lowest setting and there are 3 fish in the tank and I’m finding it needs weekly water changes. Also, I did not buy this tank from Chewy and my review is no reflection on them.

I’ve had 3 of these, over the course of 2 years. The filter and the little slat where the water filters through is a death trap for fish. You have to essentially, get the aquarium grade silicon, and then push a soft netting on it to cover the filtration slot.

Then on the other side where the filtration medium goes, place a very small holed filtration net with silicon, or your fish end up dead and it has killed other fish when one is stuck there. The tank tends to leak on one or two of the edges after about a month or two.

It’s because they poorly place the glass panels together, it’s a given if you’re not going to purchase an actually decent tank. You can patch these, but it does suck since you bought it to use it. the lighting is decent now compared to the older models.

Night mode is very cool looking. To be honest, this is a VERY cheap tank. Remove the black plastic liner in it, buy your own separate filter for around 10-15 bucks, get a thermostat in it, because this tank gets COLD very quickly.

Cold will kill your fish btw. And just keep an eye out on it everyday to every couple of days. It’s not a terrible tank, but with the modifications necessary to make it better, it’s not exactly the best.

Oh, if you have cats, tape down the lid, they like to knock it off. You know what would happen then if you let them. Also, just a note, that the filter does have two options on the strength. Its on the filters square motor, you simply look for the spot where there’s a tiny lever in the block, and push it up or down for + or – strength.

But again, the filters a fish killer so you’re taking the chance. I’ve had enough of these as well as petco replacements to know. Take care and you’ll be good.

Do NOT have this shipped to your house. I tried twice, both were broken. It is not packaged for that kind of shipping. My third one was picked up at Walmart. Refunds were a breeze. Great starter kit.

It comes with a good flow and quiet filter, heater, hood with super bright LED lights, and plants that were beyond my expectation in quantity, size, and appearance. A nice assortment of sample products came also.

Some cons: the hood is very thin but fits perfectly on the tank. I think my cat will go for a swim if she walks on it. The heater I receive had a suction cup and is designed to be full submersed horizontally towards the bottom of the tank.

It has no adjustment options and claims to keep the tank between 76 to 80 degrees. After 12 hours from straight tap water I am at 76 degrees. Not enough time to see what my tank norm will be with this heater.

Not a con but worth noting, you’ll need gravel. And a pH kit. Overall a great starter aquarium!.

It is just an air tank that works great. If you have a 1 hp or greater pump, then the tank is minimum size for the job. Prayer #2 to the guy in the sky. Here is a paper put out for scientific review.

The original pressure tank in the mountain cabin had failed so I searched on line for a replacement. Most were priced higher than I felt they were worth but then I found this one at about half what the others were asking.

I was concerned about the quality but decided to take a chance since the specs were the same as the higher priced models. I was delighted when it arrived to find it to be of equal quality. The instructions were very clear and complete and it was a breeze to exchange it because it fit exactly the same as the original.

The water system now functions perfectly!.

It was very easily installed. love the precharged feature because when the power was turned on it immediately built up pressure. It fully ran the advertised amount of water out before the pressure switch closed again.

I’m a very satisfied customer.

The aquarium that I bought had all 5 sides tempered, which was not indicated on a label. The Aqueon website says that they will substitute tempered glass at times, but if they do they will affix a clear label, which did not happen in my case.

I did not discover this until 3 days after Petco’s return window and after I had painted a side, so I had to purchase a new one, not on sale. My bad, though I wish they’d improved the labelling to be clearer.

I went back out to Petco and found a 55 gallon with no sides tempered, so it’s definitely going to vary from tank to tank. The aquarium appeared well constructed with sturdy 7/32″ glass and tidy seams.

The silicone was sloppy on some edges with some areas too thick and others too thin on some aquariums in the store, but none to the point where I was seriously worried about the structural integrity.

Some corners were butted together sloppily, but it would only be noticeable from up close. I would definitely recommend inspecting in person before picking up due to apparent variation between tanks.

The tempered tank had a weeklong leak test with no issues.

It’s leak testing now – for about a week; all looks good! I ordered it online and picked it up at Petco to ensure no shipping damage would occur. Before I accepted it, the Petco salesperson allowed me to look it over very carefully to see if there were any cracks – since I had read several reviews of receiving damaged tanks.

All looked good. 🙂 So, I guess this is a good opportunity to tell you about another Aqueon tank (29 gallon) that I bought 12 years ago (!) – sat in the basement, brand new, never used. Finally(!), I decided to set it up (and recently bought this tank as a second tank for a betta, and a few friends).

I did bring it upstairs about a year ago to allow it to acclimate to a heated house – not sure if that really helped, but why not! 🙂 I was worried, for sure. I first filled it half way – left it there for several days: no leaks (wow!) – I was told the seals don’t last much past 10 years and to expect leaks.

🙁 Now it is filled up to the top (leak test only – nothing else in it – along with the 20 gallon being tested) and has been fine for over a week! I’m guessing Aqueon are great tanks!! Thank you!.

Not sure why commenters are saying the filter is to string for a betta. as the filter adjusts. Theres a little knob on top that adjusts the strength of the filter flow! My betta LOVES his space in this tank.

I bought a heater separately for my beta, and together this tank kit and heater make an amazing combination for my betta.

I got this for each of my daughters who wanted their own pretty Betta fish. I added some plants and aquarium gravel and we were set. It’s been almost 6 months and 1 of them is still going strong. The other one died, but not sure if it was my daughter not feeding him or something else.

I would recommend a heater if you are going to keep Bettas though. Even in CA, room temperature is not warm enough for these fish.

I got a Betta fish and thought that this would be a nice tank for him. I really appreciate that it has a filter, and the thermometer seems accurate. I was worried that the Filter’s flow would be too strong for Happy (my Betta), but so far so good.

I like the size of the tank as well. It fits nicely on my desk. My Betta swims around happily and seems to like his tank a lot better than the cup he came in. Over all this is a great tank, and I would recommend buying it.

This gets the job done as a water conditioner with a very small amount of minerals in it for your shrimp. However, it is my opinion that this is severly overpriced. Minerals for shrimp from specialty shrimp specific products are very cheap by comparison and generic water conditioner is also very cheap by comparison (on a per ml or gram basis).

It requires 5ml (1tsp) per gallon, if you follow the instructions on this bottle and depending on how full the bottle is when you receive it, which means you only get roughly 39-40 gallons from this bottle.

If you have two 20 gallon tanks that’s roughly ~$6 per refill. Meanwhile, if you purchase the conditioner and minerals seperate you can easily get over a hundred gallons at that price. Second point, I mentioned “a very small amount of minerals” because if you use RO water and test before/after you’ll notice this impacts TDS by less than 20ppm.

Most shrimp prefer a TDS around 150-200ppm, but tolerate around 100-300, so you’ll need to buy minerals anyway (this is also so you can regulate GH/KH). Finally, it’s a fine product if you’re in a rush and need something now, but not fiscally a good solution long term.

Yes, you read that right. a lot goes a little way. if you have a small tank then this might be OK, but I have a 30 gallon tank. A 4 oz bottle is not enough to treat even a 25 gallon tank. Pretty expensive if you want to treat a large tank.

The formula needs to be more concentrated so that you could treat, say 100 gallons for the price you pay for 1 bottle. I’ll look for a more economical way to treat my larger tank.

I bought this as a temporary solution, I pre tempered water in a 5 gallon bucket, administered as directed, and with in 2 days I lost 99% of my shrimp. Over 60 shrimp, tested it out again thinking it was something else, but nope it’s that bad.

Just use API, Seachem, or Fluval. Or just use RO System.

brand new fish owner. i get this tank at $4 discount as rewards club member, no box, no instructions, clear tape inside along seams (silicone tape?). do i remove this stupid tape, use razor blade to cut most of it off so it’s just on seams, or what.

you’d think i could find this easily on youtube or google but i get a ton of irrelevant results. 2 am so i cant call store. at least point us to useful link, petco, when a buyer tells an employee she’s never had an aquarium b4.

I love these Aqueon tanks! They’re cheap, readily available, and have basic standard sizes so you can always find lids, filters, and equipment that you may need. Granted they may not win any design awards and are not as “aesthetically pleasing” as say some of the higher end glass tanks that are the new trend.

But if you need a basic tank for fish, reptiles, or rodents you can’t go wrong with Aqueon tanks! I’ve had my betta in a 10 gallon Aqueon tank for about 3 years now and never had any issues and he loves it!.

Frame bezel are not seamless and will eventually split. The silicone is always very sloppy looking, it really looks like the only excuse is that it’s been done intentionally, otherwise must’ve been done by a complete moron.

And the corners are not lined up very accurately, not to mention they are not beveled. Over all this is good enough to hold water but absolutely nothing to be proud of. definitely not show worthy.

I don’t want to rate it too poorly because the tank is beautiful. UNS makes very nice tanks. But. When opening the package I noticed that the straps that hold the cardboard lid to the tank had been removed but the indentations were still there, and the tank had smudges all over.

So I sent an email to Buce and asked, Had this tank been used before? Was it a display or a model piece? They assured me that they do not sell used tanks. Then asked if it was damaged in any way. I gave it a very good looking over and saw no cracks then filled it with water and waited several days and there were no leaks.

I let them know and I have not heard anything back yet in over a week. I just got an email asking to rate the experience, so I guess they just shrugged their shoulders and moved on.

I am very happy with my purchase. This tank is often not in stock so I was very excited when I saw it available. Buceplant’s prices for UNS tanks are the best around. The tank was shipped and arrived in perfect condition.

My only complaint is that shipping is expensive ($300) but that is understandable given the size of the tank and the difficulty in shipping tanks. I am just grateful that they had it in stock. This was not the first time that I had purchased a UNS tank from Buceplant and it won’t be my last.

Perfect! This is a beautiful tank. This is my first cube tank and I’m so glad I went with this one. It was packaged very securely and was easy to remove from the box. It has zero scratches or nicks or imperfections.

first of all, when I got this, the filter hole the place where you attach the pump was blocked off by an actual wall of plastic! and the book didn’t mention this to me and there was no clear way to remove it.

and it wasn’t misinformed or anything, it was perfectly smooth like it was put there on purpose. so I spent the next three hours trying to unclog it with a knife and I didn’t notice this until one moth after I stocked my tank so it ended up looking like a swamp.

well after I goy it up and running the second filter chamber started to overflow. I looked at the pump and it was working just fine but somehow couldn’t push all the water through so my tank ended up looking like a swamp again.

so now an entire nest of hornets live inside it because I forgot it outside paying hundreds of dollars for this gag tank was the worst mistake of my life.

Absolutely love this aquarium. Not only is it very beautiful with it’s curved edged glass, but it works great and is QUIET at night! You can easily upgrade the filter media basket, but it’s not required if you are happy with the original one.

I had a BioCube 32 before and loved it, but ended up getting a bigger tank. Then I missed my BioCube all over again and here I am again, grabbing another one. Lol. Back to the fun of cycling before I get my babies in there.

To sum it up, this is a GREAT tank for people starting out in saltwater fish keeping, because it has all that you need to start up without spending thousands for the lights, filters and so on.

RUN! My wife bought me this back in October to compliment my 29 biocube that I’ve not had one issue with. I returned home from work one fine evening to find all the water from this on the floor. All my fish / coral toast and a blown MP10.

The bottom seal appears to have given out due to weigh. I googled the problem and found there to be more than myself who has experienced this. I emailed coralife over a month ago and they’ve still not responded.

Terrible customer support. Run! I will say, I never had a biocube 29 problem.

BUYER BEWARE – This is a single experience, but it is worth mentioning based on cost of the tank alone. I have had a saltwater tank for ten years and this is the first tank I spent real money on. I do not hold BRS accountable, however that is where this unit was purchased from I purchased a 32 Fiji cube during a sale and just got around to setting it up.

It remained in the double cardboard box wrapped in plastic until a few weeks ago. I built my stand and placed the tank on top, and then removed the plastic wrapping. A day or so later while Admiring the beauty of this tank I noticed what I could only imagine were smudges or streaks from maybe a piece of hard plastic.

They were faint and about 2-4 long. I tried to rub it off, didnt work. I used a razor and quickly realized these were scratches on the INSIDE glass panel. Nothing had gone into the tank at this point and this is how it was shipped to me.

There are approximately 5 of these scratches on the front glass panel. I contacted Fiji Cube immediately via email because there is no phone number. A week of no response and I contacted BRS. BRS contacted Fiji on my behalf, sending them three pictures that were difficult to take because it is difficult to pickup scratches on clear glass with an iPhone.

Fiji did not respond to me or BRS that I know of. BRS contacted Fiji a second time, after another week. No response. I have decided to live with the scratches because I dont really have another option, but I would be remised if I didnt inform my community.

Good things first. The manufacturing is great, i. e. the care taken in the build itself. I can’t really see any flaws, no silicon out of place, etc. The design is great too, I love how the compartmentalization is done, prevents any of the first two chambers from drying out say if you forget to turn off the pump during a water change or something.

So you can safely put a heater in there. There is also plenty of space to work with either way, so it’s easy to play around with. So the main downside is the glass scratches REALLY easily. I am not a glass expert so I can’t say why.

I can only say that I have the Innovative Marine MicroMag Magnetic Nano Glass Cleaner and it had never scratched a tank I had, not even the cheapo plastic tanks lol. Yet the Fiji Cube gets scratched really easily, and I just have no idea why.

Except yeah, that’s a serious red flag I figure I need to get across to everyone. Overall it is a good tank, but just be VERY wary.

This tank is really nice, but the return pump that comes with it is the incredibly loud. After two days i ordered a DC pump. This return pump cannot be classified as silent. Its as loud as any normal ac pump.

Also there isnt many aftermarket options for this tank. There is only one media tray on the Fiji website, theres no options for a filter cup, so youll be stuck using filter socks. Also remember to look into diy lid.

Also My tank came with glue residue that still hasnt come off from the protective paper, BRS team unfortunately didnt offer much help-or follow up, they just said let it soak for 3 days. I can still see where it dried, it kinda ate the aio material.

Also plan ahead you have limited options for tank stands. Those are the cons, otherwise this tank has very clear glass, a nice sleek look and arrived double packaged.
