Put in the work = pressure over time, plus heat, and correct application equals a happy customer. If you quickly apply this tape without applying pressure, you won’t be happy with the product. I used this to apply wheel arch moldings to my subaru forester.

It works so much better than the adhesive tape included with the wheel arch moldings (they fell off, so I found this 3M tape to fix it). I am super happy with this product because it is extremely effective.

I took my time applying this tape to the properly cleaned plastic trim pieces. I applied immense pressure to the tape as I applied it to the plastic trim from the roll. after I had all my pieces of tape applied to the plastic trim, I took my time removing the red backing of the tape, ensuring no dust or contaminants got on the extremely sticky surfaces.

Once all pieces of tape had red backing removed, i used a hair dryer to heat up the plastic trim+3M tape, and I carefully applied the trim piece for my rear doors to where the wheel arch moldings go.

I applied immense pressure to the plastic trim piece as it was applied to my properly cleaned wheel arch (the door), and after about 2 minutes of holding it in place with immense pressure, the plastic trim pieces were set and ready to live with my vehicle.

I’m super happy with the tape. Let it be known, The first time I used this tape, I didn’t other cleaning the wheel arch of the door, nor did I clean the plastic trim piece. The result was the trim piece didn’t stick well, and I couldn’t blame the tape – I had to blame myself for not putting in the work.

The work = cleaning every surface where you’re working, to include the rear door’s wheel arch, the plastic wheel arch moldings themselves, letting the pieces dry without contaminants, and again, applying ENOUGH 3M tape to the trim pieces, and when doing so – applying immense pressure to ensure the tape has stuck and will NOT budge, and not until that is done, remove the red backing of the tape.

Take your time with this stuff and you will be happy with the result. ENSURE NO AIR POCKETS EXIST between SURFACE applying tape to & the TAPE ITSELF (this is where immense pressure application is valuable).

also I recommend applying the tape directly as it’s attached to the roll and NOT cutting the piece you need and then applying it. Cut the tape only when you are at the point where you’re ready to stop applying it.

When it comes to automotive tape, there is no better than 3M! Its super adhesive and somewhat difficult to remove but not impossible but that’s what you want in this type tape! The only negative, in my opinion, is the protective red material that covers the adhesive side of the tape is very hard to remove! Once you can pull up a corner of the protective red tape from the adhesive the rest pulls off fairly easily! I would highly recommend using the 3m Adhesion Promotor along with the 3m tape as it makes the adhesive stick in almost any kind of weather condition, cold or hot!.

My Cavalier’s car molding has been peeling from the car for a couple of years. The rear doors started first, and when they got about half off, I removed them by hand. When the front door’s molding started peeling, I found this product.

The molding had about a 60° bend in them. Half was still attached to the car, but half was flapping in the breeze. The sun had helped shape the molding, not straight. I was concerned about the adhesiveness of this product being able to straighten the molding.

After cutting this molding tape to approximately what was hanging off the car, it was a little tricky to get the old caulk removed and this tape installed. But after doing the best I could, I pushed the molding against the car door firmly.

I remembered what 3-M said about their adhesive coat-hooks (press firmly for 60+ seconds), so I took that and did the same for the molding. I pressed it for three minutes, and cautiously released my pressure.

Well, three weeks later, and both front door moldings are still adhering in place. Multiple rain storms, and freezing temperatures too. So far, so good. I will update if the molding begins to release.

This tape is similar to packing tape, but significantly thicker (stronger). The adhesive is much better as well. I have contact information taped to my disc golf disks. Of course the discs hit trees, land in water, bury themselves in snow, etc.

Some of this tape has been on my discs for 2-3 years, and is still holding strong. This purchase is my 3rd time buying this tape, it is that good.

I had an impact on my sunroof while on the highway resulting in it being shattered (but still in place). I used this tape (several rolls) on the interior and exterior to keep it from falling apart into a million tiny pieces until I could replace it.

Thus far (been about a week) it’s held up quite well in varying weather and driving conditions. I also used a short length on a cracked taillight lens and it’s only noticeable when you look at it really closely.

For best results use 3m adhesion promoter 4298 wipes with this tape it will stick instantly.

Wonder tape! We’ve used this tape to secure fiberglass body accessories (wings, skirts, etc. ) to vehicles for years with great success. However, we also use screws and fasteners to further reinforce the bond, but we once installed and left in place a rear wing on a vehicle for years using only this tape! Apply this to two clean, slick painted surfaces, let it cure, and it’s not coming off.

I installed my trim pieces in 50 degree weather which is kinda cold and this tape stuck amazing 🙂 3m ftw!

I like 3M tape and I highly recommend using this tape if you plan on painting. It is the perfect combination of sticky tape but not to the point that it takes the paint off the walls. And it is strong enough that the paint won’t bleed through this tape.

If you want crisp lines and no worries at all during paining, this is the brand to get. I do not know how many times I tried to be cheap and using masking tape or a generic brand that I regretted it and ended up doing more work! Save time and headache and use this tape.

Yes, I’m using this for something the manufacturer probably never intended. We bagpipe players use tape to tune the chanter. We can put tape on the top of a chanter hole to make a a single note flatter sounding.

We can adjust the reed higher or lower to change pitch of the entier chanter. It is a neverending process that is impacted by humidity and temperature. Yes, we pipers are a but. unusual. Most other tapes, such as electrical tape, duct tape, and some gaffers tapes, leave a residue and can slide under your fingers.

This will change the pitch of a note. If that happens during a contest you just ensured you will place at the bottom. This tape leaves no residue and is very thin under your fingers. Unobstrusive. Doesn’t slide when playing.

So far this is the best tape I’ve ever used for this application. So, 5 stars all the way! No idea what else this stuff is normally used for, but it can make your day as a piper. I keep a roll in my pipe case and most of the folks in my band have switched to it.

Comes in several colors too.

I use this tape to mask the curved sections of hard-edge acrylic paintings on primed canvas. It adheres strongly but does not lift the underlying coat of paint. It stretches enough to not buckle on the inside edge of a curve.

To make sure absolutely no paint seeps under, I put a coating of acrylic medium over the edge of the tape, on the side where I will paint. That creates an impermeable coating. Best tape I ever used to this.

Purchased this tape as a last resort to hold my ‘ delivery sign’ behind the interior center mirror (Hyundai Sonata). We live in Houston -Texas where extreme heat (120′-130′) inside the car when parked outside can melt the best of any sticky tape, I know because I have tried most of them.

Buy it if you have a tough, sticky project, just make sure you help it by doing minor prep work ahead of applying the tape. I sanded our plastic lense lightly as recommended and then cleaned with a wet rag, waited for it to dry, and then applied the tape onto the mount, then peeled off the other side and applied.

Purchased to reattach a mid-line, exterior trim piece on a rear door on a Volvo S60. Cleaned the trim area on the door with rubbing alcohol. Applied the tape to the trim piece and then the trim piece to the car.

The trim piece adhered to the door right away. Allowed it to set for 24 hours in the garage. It’s been more than 30 days with rain and excessive heat, and the trim piece is still holding well.

I found this molding tape a perfect fit for my application, which was reinstalling the small trim molding around the body front wheel wells of my 2013 Subaru Outback. I had to remove the small protective trim before removing the front bumper to replace the low beam headlights, fog lights and marker lights with LED’s.

I used Goo Gone to remove the original trim sticky residue on the body fender followed by rubbing alcohol. Looks like new and recently survived its 1st automatic car wash since using this molding tape.

If you’re painting a car with glass in place, as most of us at-home folks do, you need to buy this. It’s definitely not cheap, so try to use it wisely. That said, it can totally make the job -Just think of the hundreds (thousands) you’re saving if doing it yourself.

Way it works is this: The roll spits out the top of the box and you’re presented with this blue tape with a white piece of paper stuck to it’s adhesive. Use scissors or a very sharp razor blade to cut this stuff as you absolutely can’t tear it.

You then stick the thicker blue exposed portion under the molding/trim/what-have-you and with gentle pressure lift away from the panel. At which point you remove the backing paper and stick it down. The corners can be especially tricky, definitely use a dedicated piece just for them.

Lots of dirt and contaminates get trapped in there, so make sure to blow it out and clean it good with wax and grease remover. I used to be a professional autobody painter, this stuff is SOP anytime insurance or the customer won’t pay to R/R a piece of glass.

I have never used this before. I used this on a 94 Camaro with rubber molding. This lifted the edge for me to sand and paint. This is one of the best ideas I have seen in a long time. Works GREAT.

Exactly what you need to tape off your car for painting. Lifts the edges to allow a perfect edge that won’t lift or peel. Also, I do this often on products like this, when you see a used item that is from Home Essentials Direct, buy it.

I bought this to replace one just like it that I flat wore out after many years of use. Was worried that cost saving design changes might have been made but appears to be the same solid tool it replaced.

Cost a lot more than most 4 1/2 inch grinders because it is worth a lot more than those 4 1/2 inch grinders. And JB tools was great to deal with. Had a supply chain issue which caused a delay in shipping but customer service was on it and had a tracking number for me within a day of my contact with them.

I’ve been looking for draping tape or a good substitute for it everywhere. This has worked wonderfully. It actually sticks to the fabric of my dress form. It’s only on a few places that it needs some help sticking but definitely better than other tapes I’ve used.

One thing that is a bit annoying though is how much the edge curls, so that makes it a bit hard to apply. Once you layer another piece of tape on it, the curling stops and it stays well on the mannequin.

Wow! This tape leaves such a crisp line. Adheres well but didnt rip off any fresh-ish paint. I purchased a few different sizes and they are all easy to get great curves. I used this in an automotive setting and for a small interior home paint job.

It worked great for both. Its not common to use yellow tape on a home paint job but dang it worked better than the blue or green with bleed. Great tape. Get yourself some.

Before applying, just make sure the surfaces of each are very clean. First clean with something like Dawn dish detergent on a wet sponge and rinse thoroughly. Then, using a paper towel doubled or tripled up into a pad.

wipe down with at least 91% alcohol going in one entire direction. Flip the paper towel over and wipe again in the same direction. I also used CRC MAF Sensor cleaner which is a great degreaser but won’t harm paint.

Do not use mineral spirits or other petroleum based solvents as they will leave enough oily residue that you can not see or detect. Then to be sure if you want. get some 3M adhesive promoter and apply before the tape.

Decided to install a carbon fiber spoiler with 3M 06384 Automotive Acrylic tape, rather than with the recommended Betalink glue. Decision was based on ability to eventually remove the spoiler – with the glue the Installation would have been permanent.

Bottom line – the 3M tape is a solid install that went as expected. But be advised that careful preparation is a necessity. I first sanded the underside of the spoiler with fine grit sandpaper, wiped with tack cloth, then cleaned with isopropyl alcohol.

Next, installed the 3M tape to the spoiler underside in two continuous runs – along the leading and trailing surfaces. Cleaned the car trunk with isopropyl alcohol, then used a hair dryer on both the trunk and spoiler underside (before removing the 3M tape release backing).

Finally, removed the release backing and carefully placed the spoiler onto the trunk (within previously marked points). Applied firm pressure, then taped the spoiler firmly down overnight. Have been driving for two weeks now in all kinds of weather and at freeway speeds, with no sign of separation.

I thought this would come in the regular plastic shell that most 3m adhesive tapes come in. but It didn’t, leaving me to suspect whether it was the real deal or not. I compared it to my other legit 3m adhesive tapes and this one definitely comes off easier upon first contact.

On the other hand, I would have to pry the 3m tapes out and even risk destroying it if I made a mistake. This one I could readjust quite easily. That could be an advantage and a disadvantage to some I suppose.

After lining the side skirts and the spats with this thing, it Did stick quite well. Of course I had to use screws as well, but only time will tell how well they really work.

From the outset I was a little concerned that $15 was too much to spend for a roll of tape. Hoping to be reimbursed from my employer, I threw caution to the wind and purchased the 3M Automotive Performance Masking Tape anyway.

I was overjoyed with the lime green hue of this fantastic product. But a good tape is more than just the color, right? If the color was superb, the adhesive property of this tape was otherworldly. Careful application around some of the more delicate areas of my truck ensured they would not fall victim to the ill effects of unwanted overspray.

If Moses had a roll of 3M Automotive Performance Masking Tape, he would not have needed to invoke divine intervention in the parting of the Red Sea. This tape is durable, sticky, and allowed for zero leakage.

Removal of this tape was a breeze. Surprising, I know, considering how well it adhered to various body panels. This tape did not pull up any of the fresh paint, left no residue, and was a tactile joy to ball up and throw into the waste bin.

I would recommend 3M Automotive Performance Masking Tape to anyone with shaky hands and less than stellar skills with a spray can – or if you just like the color green.

This tape is the one to use when doing work on your headlight restoring them with a wet sand kit and polish. When the tape is applied carefully, protection is at its highest. Remember to always apply 2 layers of tape for extra protection on clean dry paint.

After this so important first step of taping the paint, you can wet sand and polish and the tape stays put protecting what you want protected period.

I picked up a roll of Scotch 233+ at my Rockler store on a clearance table a couple years ago, but then I couldn’t find it again. I’m glad to see it’s back. It makes quick work of clamping up mitered boxes by placing the box sides end to end with faces up, then applying strips of tape across each miter joint, stretching the tape as you apply it.

Then flip the taped unit on it face, applying glue in the miter channels and folding the assembly up and taping off the last joint. Then square it up and let it dry. I had used blue painters tape in the past but the 233+ works best; stickier and stretchier.

It works great, too great at times. while installing this product I had to act like a circus contortionist to get into position to reach where it needed to go under the dash. Well I had the bright idea to do the installation in the morning before it got hot.

I live in the country so my nearest neighbor is 1000 plus feet away. basically I’m standing on my head with my legs hanging over the front seat towards the back of the vehicle finished the installation and didn’t realize a small piece of take had effectively glued my head to the under side of the dash with the holding force of Thor’s hammer.

After many hours in the 100+ degree heat when my wife found me hallucinating and singing I’m so pretty, still glued under the dash and a trip to ER. This tape is awesome!.

After reading instructions and using for intended purpose this product works great. It does not work as hand restraints to a headboard. That’s where I got the products name confused with another product.

We had to swap out tape in mid session to complete a specific mission. When applied to a clean dry surface this tape seams to be the solution to badge placement on the back of the trunk.

I’ve had to change vehicles a couple of times in the last 2 months and had to remount my tollway transponder, I had no idea as to what to use to attach it to the window. O’Reilly’s is great with the troubleshooting level of customer service that so few businesses seem to care about.

Not only did this product work phenomenally, but it had instructions on how to remove the previously attached item. I’m never disappointed when I enter an O’Reilly’s!.

My tail light on my 2005 Trail Blazer is cracked, running diagonally down about 8″, and branching off into another 5″ crack. This tape stuck very well to the plastic, but not very well to itself. In the small area that it is placed overtop itself, it keeps peeling up.

It has been about 3 weeks, in the extreme heat and in cooler temps, from TN to PA. Also, bright sun thru thunderstorms and hail. It is holding up well, so far. The color matches okay, which really isn’t a priority for me, as long as it is some shade of red.

All in all, ease of use, price, etc. , I would recommend this tape, and would buy it again, if needs be. Plus, the people in all Auto Zones I’ve ever patronized are pretty cool, and helpful.

I came in to get a lightbulb for my turn signal. I had originally thought it was for the back. But it was the front. And the clerk noticed that it was the wrong bulb sold to me, but went outside to check the color and which bulb needed to be changed.

He noticed that my blub in the front was loose and simple screwed it back in. And did the return. That is honesty and integrity. Not something you see a lot of these days. Thank you so much for having good customer service.

Bought that a year ago, used in all seasons. Overall pretty good, but has a flaw and is not “all weather”: it just does not stick at all to any cold surface, not even a perfectly smooth and insanely dry (during winter) painted aluminum post.

By cold, I mean surfaces at about -5 C and below (as measured with IR thermometer) which around here means totally everything outside from early December to mid-March. As soon as the tape touches a cold surface, the glue layer instantly becomes non-adhesive.

Therefore it can’t be applied outside in winter, not even for Christmas decorations (unless you set them up early, in November. ). On the flip side, on places I applied it on warmer days (or where I could warm up the surface beforehand), it held on strong through winter, even down to -20 and -25.

I received this to test, and I used it for a unique situation. I have a fairly new pair of expensive canvas sneakers that I tore on the side right above the rubber, when a pallet jack at my job ran into it.

No way to really get that repaired. I used a piece of this tape on the inside of the shoe, starting on the insole and going up the side, stuck to the fabric and closing the rip. So far so good. it’s cold here and sometimes wet, and I wear them at work for 9 hours, and the tape has not budged at all.

Now I can’t wait to repair the next thing. Also thinking of cutting out house numbers to stick to my recycle bin with this, since it stays outside.

The 3M All Weather Duct Tape is an excellent product! The tape is an all weather tape that works great inside and out. The tape is black with a texture and is a medium thick tape. The tape provides a very strong hold, I tried pulling it off of my desk and it actually pulled my desk with it, it is very adhesive and strong.

The tape holds very securely and can be torn by hand without losing any strength. The tape will hold anything you want it to hold and will stay put. I would very highly recommend this tape and will be purchasing more for many projects.

I used this tape for the masking of my car prior to respraying the tailgate and rear bumper, and this tape was easy to apply and once the job was completed it was easy to remove without leaving any glue marks.

I have used this 3M tape many times before, because of the low tack properties and that it’s a quality item. Highly recommended.

I have used all different masking tapes,but this beats them down all the way. Great for sticking down,thinner than others,price is very good. The only thing was when removing the tape,it stated to peal the paint off so I have left it.

I will take a sharp blade and cut along the tape to remove. I still say it is great tape,highly recommended.

I have used this tape a few times before I thought 3 M always mean quality but not with this item. I think it states that this tape is easily taken off not you are working outdoor. It sticks like glue to bodywork if its sunny and sticks to bodywork when it rains.

Its supposed to be waterproof well not the roll I got. I don’t think I will go there again Regards Ernest.

I bought this for body car maintenance. When you want to do a touch up paint and need to ensure that you are protecting the surrounding areas. You want something that sticks well but not so much that it leaves some glue on the paint of your car or even worse, damage your paint.

This is perfect for that. It gently sticks but still firmly enough to stay in place and you can remove it and reapply it if you need to adjust its placement and it won’t lose its adherence. I did a try on my fridge door prior using it on my car.

I did stick the same band more than 20 times, took it out and put it back and it applied easily and was removed as easily. I grew tired after 20 times because I was satisfied with my test. So basically, you can move the same strip around to find the best placement without any penalty.

That for me is worth 5 stars.

I started using this during a move to mark boxes – this tape and a black sharpie are all you need to find things again. It sticks to everything – cardboard, plastic and even wood and fabric – where most other tapes don’t.

BUT it peels off safely (even from cardboard boxes) with enough stick left to transfer to another box in case you need to move things to a bigger box. I use it to mark everything now, especially after my mom moved in with me and I had to mark drawers and her things so she could find things.

Plus I’m getting older so I don’t remember so well anymore. No more rummaging through boxes in the toolroom or storage shed, or pulling boxes down from the top of the closet – these stand out even in poor light (but it’s not flourescent).

I have been using this tape for all my Detailed painting needs since it came out; maybe before it was for sale. The US Air Force used this and the “blue” version way back in the early 70’s. All I had to do was ask my friends dad for “some of that REALLY good masking tape”.

Just what I was looking for! I bought the 1/4 and 1/2 inch size tape for attaching various emblems and such on Cars. I have always used 3M brand. I like how it holds up and securely sticks! Thank You!

I bought this tape to use in a project for my 2016 WRX. The dealership provided me some Aero trim pieces for the rear bumper, and one of them was installed poorly. The alignment was awful and the look was distasteful.

My plan was to remove the poorly installed piece and reinstall. However, I was concerned about what I was going to use to make sure the trim is firmly adhered to the bumper such as it is with the factory installed tape.

I was so HAPPY to say that this tape turned out to be exactly what is installed on the trim piece from the factory, and carefully following the directions will result in an extremely tight installation.

This panel will not flap in the wind, break off, or melt off with this 3M tape product. This is truly automotive grade. To remove, apply heat with a heat gun on low for a moderate period of time, and pull with firm pressure.

You can use a plastic razor, GumOut and heat to remove the remaining residue.

Auto refinish tapes work better than standard masking tapes when using lacquer paints such as Dupli-Color Perfect Match. The lacquer does not penetrate the surface of the tape and/or adversely affect the adhesive.

The 3M Yellow tape leaves a nice, clean edge with no adhesive residue under normal circumstances. It is worth the difference in price.

I purchased this to wrap and tag wires and bolts for my engine replacement. The tape doesn’t leave residue and can be written on with a sharpie. I have used a similar tape for body work. Its great that it does not leave residue.

I had just painted a car and needed to paint the trim, so I needed some tape with less adhesive and decent lines. I didn’t want to pull the new paint off while painting the trim. I worked great for my application.
