This isn’t the BEST tape on the market but I knew when I bought it that for the amount of rolls you get for the price it wasn’t going to be the best. I have used crappier tape so I think this stuff is pretty good for the price.

Sticks well to cardboard, as well any other packing tape I’ve seen. The glue does have a strong smell, but it’s not as unpleasant as some have suggested. It also fades away quickly after the tape is off the spool and is entirely gone, at least to my perception, when applied.

I’ve been using Scotch Heavy-Duty Shipping Tape for YEARS!!! It’s absolutely the BEST Packing Tape available! I would NEVER do a move using any other tape. only Scotch Brand Heavy Duty Shipping Tape! Not a day goes by when I don’t find a use for this tape.

It’s not just for packing boxes! Just to give you a few examples: I’ve used it to laminate some of the informational cards in my wallet because sometimes their ink runs onto other items in my wallet (I’m NOT referring to credit cards.

just business cards like your insurance card, etc. ). I’ve used it to remove small areas of adhesive when I remove labels from products. You can wrap some around your fingers (inside out) to use to remove lint and pet hair from fabrics.

If I want to identify a particular light switch or wall outlet, I use a marker on the wall plate. then I cover the writing with a small piece of this Tape. When I want to make sure a food container won’t leak, I use this tape completely around the edge of the container lid.

Of course, it’s great for covering labels for items in your fridge or freezer! I use this Tape EVERY DAY. usually several times each day! It’s probably the best product of its type on the market!.

This is the worst tape I have ever ordered. I would return it, but I already opened the package, and I was greeted with a wave of the most putrid odor. I have to stuff all the rolls in three bags and shove it in my closet to PARTIALLY alleviate the smell.

But the smell does not go away. It now lives in my home. The only benefit is that it IS sticky, but its at the cost of making all of my packages smell like the inside of a dog.

I used to use Duck Crystal Clear 3″ Tape exclusively, but about 10 years ago switched to the Staples version as it was identical in every way (54. 6 yards, 2. 6mil, crystal clear, etc), but at half the cost.

I would special order the 6-roll package every year or two, and was always very satisfied. HOWEVER, THIS NEW STAPLES TAPE IS HORRIBLE!!! The two things that made this tape stand out before were its extreme thickness (3.

1 mil) that when taped front and back was thick as a laminated document, and the incredible adhesive that would stick to just about any surface providing the strongest bond possible. When they reduced the thickness to 2.

6mil I was disappointed, but it was still one o f the best tapes out there so I continued buying it, but this newest version is so bad I would hesitate to even call it “tape”. I can only assume that something went wrong in the manufacturing process as the “adhesive” on this tape would have trouble sticking to paper and would fail miserably on most other surfaces.

I can only assume that Staples is aware of this as they have been selling it 35-40% cheaper than in years past. I can honestly say that if they gave it away for free I would still not recommend using it as it really is that bad.

oh well, back to Duck Brand I guess.

I have used the Scotch Extreme Tape for over 10 years and have discovered it to be the best tape to use when shipping boxes. especially boxes with books or other heavy objects. I have given it five stars because it completely fulfills its described purpose–it works under extreme conditions.

I have asked recipients of my packages about the condition in which they receive boxes of materials and they inform me that if I hadn’t overtaped the boxes everything would have popped out. The shipped boxes might have arrived in disrepair but the tape held in all cases.

Apparently, most shippers have the ability to destroy even the most heavyweight boxes so when I ship I usually use a “360” degree taping system — wrapping all corner and applying a continuous loop around a box.

This tape adheres to itself very well meaning that overlaps also stick. On the other hand, the tape is difficult to get off the roll and I usually keep a knife or a pair of sharp scissors handy to cut the tape.

It is also expensive. I have not been able to locate a multi-tape package at Staples or elsewhere — it is usually sold only as a single-one pack with dispenser. I retain a stock of this tape which I replenish when Staples discounts the price of this item.

I have discovered that other tape with a claim to be a shipping/moving/storage tape sometimes doesn’t stick to boxes — this is never a problem with Scotch Extreme Shipping Strapping tape.

I was delighted to find this strong packing tape in stock at my favorite Office Depot location; I am packing up my possessions for a permanent move back to my hometown and do not want to have to worry that my boxed-up possessions will get spilled out of their cardboard containers.

This tape has been around for years, was the best then, is among, if not, the best today. It seems that with this product and may others, 3-M does to NOT re-invent the wheel. They may improve the wheel with some new models but doesn’t seem to discard the time proven products like this strapping tape.

Had to replace a side view mirror on my vehicle that wasn’t standard size. Been held on thru a trip from Chicago to Ohio now going on 2 months and just starting to peel. Definitely recommend for both minor and major repairs.

Purchased at my local General hardware store. Also was available T my various ” Dollar” stores.

I’ve purchased 3 different types of Gorilla tapes. This tape is very strong just like the other ones but its a little more difficult to tear a piece since it has an exposed sticky side. Great for if you need a specific size.

Love that it is double sided. [brand:gorilla-glue].

Here is a BIG tip for you: You do NOT want to buy cheap tape, especially packing tape. When you care moving, you are busy and time is of the essence. The last thing you need is the packing tape, messing with your patience, ripping, coming off the roll, breaking and all other annoyances.

Do yourself a favor, spend a few cents more and buy Scotch Brand packing tape.

The way we shop today menas boxes and packages and shopping online is like shopping blindfolded. Its largely pot luck as to what size, colour etc. So things tend to go back. This is where good packaging tape comes in.

You dont want the flimsy stuff that can be pulled off easily without leaving a mark. So this 3M 50mm tape is not the one to go for as it rips easily and comes off easily just like the rest. I wish someone would make a tape that actually sticks and rips the box if you try to take it off.

Best tape! This has fibers in it like duct tape but is different. It is a little transparent and I think it may be thicker but with a little less glue. It sticks as well (in fact better since I don’t have it sticking to itself all the time like I do with duct tape) and feels stronger.

It is expensive so I save it for heavy or expensive items. It is the Mercedes of packing tapes. I would bet this tape could hold bricks in a moving box!.

It is noticably flimsier than 3M strapping tape. It has, however, not failed to protect any of the packages I have sent using it. It also seems to be a bit stickier than 3M strapping tape. As long as you are paying considerably less for this than you would for 3M Scotch strapping tape, it is a good deal, seeing as you may want to use a little extra of this for the same job.

This tape is exactly the same quality as all the other brands I have purchased but this item is $20 more for the same 24 rolls.

I am SO disappointed! Duck Brand packaging tape had been highly recommended. So I bought a roll of HD Easy Start at Fred Meyer. IT WAS WONDERFUL. So I wanted more. Lots more, since I am getting ready to move.

Fred Meyer did not have any more of the HD Easy Start, so I bought 4 rolls of the Duck HD Tan tape they had in stock. IT WAS TERRIBLE. It was very hard to get off the roll – had to unroll it manually, and then apply to the package.

And it did not cut clean – the blade is not suitable for this product – by the time I got it cut, the tape seemed always to wrinkle or fold. Fred Mayer had no other Duck Brand packaging tape in stock.

So I went to Lowe’s. they did not have any Easy Start, so I bought a big double roll of HD Clear with the plastic dispenser. After all, I am going to need a lot. The first time I used it, the metal blade fell off the dispenser, and there seemed to be no way to re-attach it.

So I returned it and bought another double roll with dispenser. This dispenser has the roll of tape installed backwards: with the sticky side towards the blade. EGADS! Have you no Quality Assurance at all? I need 4-6 rolls of packing tape and a tape gun.

I guess it will not be DUCK Brand.

We had to pack an apartment over Memorial Day weekend. A lot was going to be packed and put into storage to decided on later. Tried some cheap tape from a discount store and it kept splitting down the middle when boxing.

Found this tape and it did the job boxing everything up. We’ll see how it holds up. This tape was about twice the thickness of the bargain tape, and over the weekend only had a few times that it did the dreaded split.

Knew w would need several rolls so bought the six pack. Wish they sold as a 3 pack.

I’ve been using HD packing tape for years. Mainly to protect instructions on medicine bottles (that my pharmacy discontinued doing) and naturally storage. It’s that time of the year to pack away the Winter clothes and get out the shorts.

Yep, I have to do my own, lol. This is the first time using the Duck Brand HD Clear Heavy Duty Packing Tape. Normally it’s the cheap stuff from the discount stores. I was really impressed that I didn’t have to keep pressing on the tape for the adhesive to stick to the boxes.

It came with a refillable dispenser which is great. Setting up the tape to have access to the cutter bar was easy to do, no instructions needed. It’s a pretty sharp cutter so keep it away from the kids.

I normally have problems when the tape rips before it reaches the cutter. It’s hard to find the beginning of it and get it started again. The Duck brand doesn’t stick to itself, easy to operate and I’m really pleased that I was able to review this product free from the manufacturer.

Great tape and it will be my go to from now on.

I’m all about saving money but somethings you have to spend the extra bucks for the real stuf. Stuff like band-aid, buy the real stuff the generic brand doesn’t stick. Laundry soap-it’s okay to buy the generic stuff because it washes just as good as the real stuff.

As for packing tape-you gotta spend the extra money and buy the real stuff. esp if you live in a humid climate place like me. You need stickiness that sticks to the cardboard box. The last thing anyone needs in life is getting a package and having the packing tape half falling off because the sender was too cheap to surge on good tape.

Stick to the real stuff.

I ship a LOT of boxes every day. I’ve tried many of the tapes on the market. I’ve found the EZ start tape to be the best for several reasons: 1. ) It is the QUIETEST TAPE on the market. With me having several young children and a home office that’s right next to their bedroom, having a quiet tape is quite important.

Nearly every other tape you will find has a shrill shriek whenever you rip the tape of the spool. This is very quiet. 2. )It truly is “EZ start”. The biggest pain for me is having the tape come down and have to use a fingernail to get it up again, and then you’ve ripped part of it, so you end up actually wasting a lot of tape.

This even when laying down on the tape roll requires very little effort to pull the end of the tape up and begin to use. I would recommend using a tape dispenser with these rolls. It makes it so much easier to use.

Plus a handy tip-One tape dispenser will last a LONG time. I’ve been using the same dispenser for nearly 6 months and have shipped 2,000+ boxes with it. To sum it up, sure the price of this tape is higher than a generic or even premium tape, but it’s well worth the added expense for the luxury of a good tape.

One quick thing to note- NO, this is not the “stickiest” tape out there. Depending upon what you are taping, if you need something really sticky-look elsewhere. For standard USPS boxes, the stickiness of this tape is fine and works well.

Yes, I’m here to rave about this glorious packaging tape. This is the best packaging tape I’ve ever used. It’s thick, it never shreds or twists up while you’re taping, its crystal clear. This is everything a well designed packaging tape should be and you need less of it for each project because of that.

Its a pleasure to use because it only does what it’s supposed to and none of those things that bad tape does. This tape is worth the price. Don’t cheap out, buy this tape. I recently cheaped out and bought a box of economy tape from a certain business supplies company that sends far too many very large catalogs far too often.

That tape is 2mil which is too thin. That tape will twist and fold and slide in the dispenser, it sticks to itself, it must be used with a dispenser or its a tedious packaging tape based nightmare. It’s bare minimum junk and I hate it.

That junk tape is why I’m here urging you not to buy terrible packaging tape. Whether you use this tape often or rarely, this tape will improve your life experience. I’m here of my own free will, leaving this review without any incentive except to help others not suffer tape related misery.

I’m a small business owner who does a lot of taping. If I sound crazy to you, you haven’t known the sadness of having to use a really bad roll of tape to tape up a big box. I’m here to help you avoid that sorrow.

Isn’t life filled with enough sorrows without adding tape related sorrows to it? Also, since we’ve some this far we might as well go a little further: never store tape in a hot place. Don’t store it in your hot car or your uninsulated attic or in direct sunlight.

I bought a two-roll package and it is all useless, except maybe as paperweights. Impossible to unspool effectively: it splits every time I try to use it. Then it’s a struggle to find the end and all but impossible to start again in one piece, and then it splits again, etc.

, etc. Last time I tried to use the shreds I managed to get off the spool some areas had no adhesive and wouldn’t stick. It could not be a worse product.

Cheap moving tapes waste lots of time when they become tangled or when you cannot find the end of the roll. Moving is stressful enough without having to deal with cheap packing tape which some professional movers might give you.

They are a false economy. Duck HP260 is the only moving tape I recommend. Scotch makes something close, but not as good. None of Staples private label tape is worth buying, even their so-called strongest stuff.

Duck HP260 has many uses. It is waterproof, remains clear and does not yellow, is impervious to freezing cold or moderate heat, and does not ever ooze sticky residue around the edges, so it can be used to protect labels on packages and envelopes or key tags or in the workshop.

I often use it for household repairs, because it is strong and easy to handle. Buy extra. You will find it handy to have around.
