20 Best Tape For Walls (2022 Updated)

3M gave me a sample of this product to evaluate and I am very please with it. I rent and hanging things on the walls can be an issue. I have an unframed poster that I wanted to hang, but was afraid that regular tape would not work because it would either not hold up, or would mar the wall if I went to remove it.

I tried this Wall-Safe tape and it was just what I needed. I had used it to put the poster up and 2 days later, I noticed the poster was a little crooked. I had not problem removing the tape to re-hang the poster.

There wasn’t any tape residue left on the wall, and most importantly, it did not remove the paint from the wall. I also tried it to tape a message on my fridge, and again, no tape residue when I removed it.

I definitely recommend this, especially if you are looking for a tape to hang kid’s artwork!.

Review won’t let me leave no stars. This product is useless. Used it on one photograph on the wall to start making a collage. I used adhesive squares to hold the picture up on the wall and used this tape to hold the corners down.

didn’t even work for 60 seconds. I used the tape on the top and bottom and all 4 corners of the picture too. All lifted in less than a minute. Junk. Dont get me started with getting the paper off the tape.

For me, tape is too flexible and serrated dispenser is a poor choice by 3M. When laying/pressing tape it tends to warp and stretch too much. Introduces striations along its length. It’s more like saran wrap than standard 3M clear tape.

Just the process of tearing the tape from the dispenser, (it is difficult to tear!) gives the tape a warp that often makes useless the piece you’ve torn off.

I cannot think of a product that has frustrated me more than this one! To the point I was screaming! First, you can’t cut off a piece. No matter what pair of scissors I use, the tape sticks to much to them as I cut, that I can only get cut halfway through.

Then it is stuck so much to the scissors, that I often ruin the piece trying to get it off, even before I finish the cut! And for the pieces that I DO manage to get cut, after I apply them, I can’t get the stupid backing off! So half of the remaining pieces are then ruined as well, as they come up from the shelf I just applied them to.

What a piece of crap!.

Does the job, really great! I used this for my carpet because it likes to slip and slide constantly! Applied this to all corners and haven’t ran into a problem since, it never seems to lose its stickiness either.

Renter friendly as well, I applied this to some posters to hang up on my wall and had to readjust them several times—never lost any stickiness during this process either— and it didn’t rip any paint off.

10/10 worth the purchae.

For the life of me I cannot remove the backing of this tape!!!!!!! And all the other non-3M mounting tape never behaved this way. For the love of your mental health, if you do not want to be screaming and crying and spend a godforsaken 2 hours trying to get one single piece of the backing off – do not buy.

I used to love and only trust 3M products but I will start venture to alternatives now. This is the most awful tape I’ve ever bought.

The tape works well, and importantly is nice and thin, not bulky. It has a good strong stickiness. The problem, and reason I don’t give 5 stars is there is a beginning part of the tape covered with a protective film so the first 8 inches is useless.

You pull that out, then the tape is ready to use and it is sticky on both sides as it comes off the roll. It is not one of those double sided tapes that pulls off covered on one side, then you pull that off after sticking the first side.

Unfortunately, there is no instruction on this, so I spent p[probably 20 minutes pulling pieces off the beginning and then trying to get the protective coating off. Very frustrating. Needs better instructions.

I used this to attempt to bind two pieces of fabric together which I didnt want to do permanently. Yes – I realize this is not the primary purpose of this tape as such I gave it three stars. I had to use a knife to remove the protective paper on the 2nd side of the tape – fingernail did not seem to do it.

It stuck well for a limited period of time – then it let go. I will have to try either the permanent double sided tape or something else.

I have used this removable poster tape for years. The main problem with this product is that you can’t always find it when you need it. So, I always stock up. It holds much better than the old sticky tack (which leaves a lump under whatever you’re hanging) or looped masking tape (which often sags or lets go after a while).

This tape is on the expensive side, but you don’t need to use big pieces to hold whatever you’re hanging on the wall. And it won’t remove the paint when you take the picture down. It’s also good for something that you move from place to place, like in a classroom.

I have been using Scotch (brand) Poster Tape for over 10 years with Excellent results. Whatever I stick up stays in place and when it comes to removing the poster/signage there’s no residue left behind.

In addition, I have never had any damage to the surfaces that the posters/signage was mounted on.

I didn’t look at the poor reviews and thought I’d give Scotch Delicate a try versus the other brand. What a mistake. The tape is extremely thin, which makes it harder to apply. Once painted it allowed leakage, not providing the fine paint line I was expecting and didn’t peel off as advertised – not delicate like I was expecting.

Very disappointed in this Scotch tape and definitely would not buy it again.

I like double sided tape when I am doing various types of papers where I want it to adhere on both sides. Sometimes, this tape has proven strong enough to stick carpet pieces on the floor. It will not damage the flooring.

It is also good to use for an emergency hemming tool. It is not meant to last, but if you are in a pitch and you do not have needle and thread, you can use the double sided tape for an emergency fix it.

The Scotch® Double-Sided Tape Refills item is so very useful on a myriad of projects I’ve done. I like using the refills with the Scotch® Duo regular and double-sided dispenser because it’s much easier to use.

The weight of the dispenser holds the tape refills securely in place when you pull some tape out. This is helpful if in the middle of the project.

I consider the Clean Release painter’s tape to be a must-have when I am painting anything in my household. I had a terrible experience with a cheap kind of “painter’s tape” that literally pulled paint off my walls and left yards of sticky adhesive remnants everywhere.

It was a nightmare to clean, which was ironic, considering I used the tape to avoid a mess in the first place. This particular painter’s tape, however, does everything it claims. It covers well, applies quickly and easily, and leaves no residue when removed.

I also appreciate the fact that it can be used on so many surfaces, including glass and painted walls, without damaging them. I do not recommend painting without it.

I needed this to secure a sign to a door. I like the individual foam squares because it makes it easier to work with, and gives you more control. I placed it on all four corners of the sign, removed the backing and pressed for a few seconds.

It’s a great way to secure something in a semi-permenanet fashion. It’s not something you want to pull off if you don’t have to, but it can be done if needed, without leaving holes to repair.

This is a somewhat permanent adhesive pad. You will have to scrape it off with a tool to remove. I cleaned both surfaces with alcohol and let dry, peeled the backer off one side and applied to object I was attaching and then peeled the backer off the remaining side and aligned with my mounting location and then pressed firmly.

Get it right the first time, there is no redo. Once it is stuck, it is stuck.

I received the Scotch Mounting Squares from 3M for free in exchange for an honest review. Overall, I was pleased with these mounting squares. First off – buyers need to pay attention to the fact that these are labeled as Permanent – meaning they will likely leave a mess when you try to take them down.

Also – they are only made to hold lightweight – up to one pound. Taking this into account, I used these on two different surfaces. The first surface was more pourous and the second surface was very smooth.

The mounting squares worked better on the smooth surface. The pourous surface held, but not as tightly as the smooth surface and I am not sure it is going to last long term. These say they will work on multiple surfaces, but in reality, if a surface is too rough or of more of a fabric base, these probably won’t work well for you.

The smooth surface mounting affixed well and hasn’t budged a bit. There is no pull even when I try to apply some light pressure to take it down. Overall, I give these mounting squares 4 out of 5 stars because they do work, just not on as many different surfaces as advertised.

Personally l like clean lines and edging when l paint. This is my go too tape every time l decorate. This multi-surface tape is available in three different widths. I’ve tried other brands in the past but they just aren’t as good as Scotch Blue Original Painters Tape.

The tape can stay on surfaces for up to 21 days. It removes with easy and doesn’t damage or leave any sticky residue behind. If your willing to spend a little extra time preparing to paint and use this tape you will definitely be happy with the results, highly recommended.

Felt compelled to take the time to review painters tape as this is the most ineffective product. Bought because the store was out of our normal green tape and the clean up from the damage from the tape took more time than painting the walls.

It peeled the existing paint, so much it left damaged drywall. Conversely some how, the tape did not stick to the edge of the moulding bleeding the paint underneath. Super sloppy and better to just attempt free hand with a toddler.

During removal the tape would tear into small pieces. At the paint line small pieces of tape stayed sticking and it was really hard and time consuming to remove. Also I had a few leaks past the tape.

I bought this at Home Depot. I told the sales girl I wanted the best paint, brushes, and tape. This tape was her selection. Home Depot should not recommend this tape. I can’t believe your research and quality control lab lets this tape out.

No way would I have purchased this tape if I read the reviews first. I guess 3M needs the money and too bad for the suckers who use this product,.

I have used Scotch Brand Transparent for as long as it has been on the market, and have noticed a big change in the last several months. The tape now has a rubbery composition, and instead of cutting off cleanly from the dispenser, it stretches and resists cutting off.

I tried several different dispensers, and bought rolls with their own dispenser. Same disappointing stretching. I threw those out and I bought new rolls from Target, with same result. I tried others from Office Max.

Same stretching. I am very disappointed in the “NEW, IMPROVED” Scotch tape. It isn’t!.

I got this scotch tape at The Dollar Tree. I absolutely love these scotch tapes they are easy to cut off. You can use them to tape gift wrap or for tape packages. There are two rolls in one package. It’s a great deal for the price….

I have been buying Scotch brand scotch tape for over a decade at least. I dont know why,. but I love to use scotch tape for everything. I prefer it to push pins, whatever, you name it. Seriously I should have stock in the company because I love their tape.

I always have AT LEAST three rolls if not more, especially at Christmas time I probably have six rolls and then I always put rolls of tape in with my decorations so that I dont have to worry about looking for any when the time comes to put up cards, lights, pictures, decorations, I use it for anything I can find to tape.

Its quite an obsession of mine. Ha ha Thank You for your wonderful products. I use many others but this is my favorite.

The adhesive on these works well, if you get it to dispense properly. I used to have no issue, but for 2+ years now, whenever I foolishly try these again, I waste so much of the roll with it jamming up! I first thought it was because I was using refills, but I have purchased new rollers and the same thing happens! The quality has definitely gone downhill since I used to purchase them.

Other brands and even the Scotch dots are better.

I’m obsessed with finding the perfect adhesive. I usually use far too much on my pages, so the double sided tape leaves the least mess. This was meant to also use a box of refills I had, but I ordered the wrong one.

My fault. I liked this one better than the other, but there are a few I like more.

It is strong. It can’t be removed. It is difficult to dispense. It must be hand or finger moved. There is no auto roller. I think of it as a specialty tape for difficult adhesions. It works great for items that need a strong adhesive.

I would not recommend this product at all. I usually don’t write bad reviews but this purchase deserves it due to the disappointment. Please note that I researched many brands and reviewed many reviews on varies websites before purchasing.

I purchased this to hang a lightweight picture and plastic shelf on my kitchen wall, unfortunately, this would not hold for 1 minute (seriously, not even 1 minute). I covered the entire perimeter of each item in mounting tape and still it would fall off the wall immediately.

I wish I could’ve returned this but I used the entire tape roll trying to secure two simple decor items and reapply tape where needed when it would fall. I thought I would at-least have some left over for other projects.

Definitely look at other mounting tape brands that can hold heavy items. This tape can only probably hold something small and extremelyyyyy lightweight (make sure it is way under 10 pounds though instructions state it can hold up to 10 pounds.

I’ve had this tape sitting around after replacing the adhesive on my pickups bed trim pieces a year ago. I’ve been using it to stick network switches in place in steel enclosures. Read the instructions, clean your surface properly, apply with 15lbs of pressure for 30 seconds, in temperatures above 50F, and it will stick until the sun expands and consumes the earth.

Removal requires a sharpened putty knife and an adhesive remover, because its a permanent solution. Oh, if your surface is painted and the paint falls off where the tape is applied, your paint failed, not the tape.

I purchased the double-stick tape to create student dividers for the in home part of hybrid schooling. I used a cardboard box with egg-crate foam. The tape stuck to the box really well, but the foam was a problem.

It will hold for a few hours then needs to be re-pressed to re-stick. I have discovered that hot-glue, did not hold the foam well either. I determined that it is the material I was attempting to use to stick, not the tape.

The tape works well when it is use on solid surfaces, like for hanging things on the wall, but not designed for soft flexible surfaces.

I definitely would not buy again. Made the mistake of throwing my receipt away before using product. Didn’t even hold item in place 24hrs, came home and found it on the floor. Glad it wasn’t glass. GreT price compared to brand but not worth it when it doesn’t work.

If I had my receipt I would return it.

I was having problems with my magnetic phone holder in my car. I have tried several dual sided tapes to hold the metal piece to my phone that, hooks to the magnetic phone holder, and none of them would hold but only a short period, the 3m dual sided tape held best, up until it dropped my phone on the floorboard! I am an Uber driver so it’s very important to have a hands free phone that doesn’t fall off and distracts you while driving.

This is the best 2 sided tape I’ve used so far!! I give it a full 5 stars out of 5!!!.
