20 Best Tape For Wood (2022 Updated)

I love to try new products when they come out. When I saw the T-Rex tape I had to give it a shot. I have used the other big name brands with good results, and I have tried other T-Rex products and been very pleased.

I used it for mounting to fairly heavy pieces of plastic together, and they would be hanging from the tape while in use. The piece of plastic that would be hanging was about five pounds and it would be on a pully system moving back and forth.

This would test the strength of the tape. I put it in place and the plastic hung there reliably with well over 20+ movements. Even with the swinging and weight the tape held strong and did not release until I removed it and it did not come of easily even then.

This tape has out performed the other big name brand similar product with impressive results. I will use T-Rex again, they are quickly becoming my new favorite tape brand.

This tape is a huge problem solver. I have a very large, very heavy mirror positioned on top of a table in a slightly leaning position. Being located at my garage entrance to my home, the mirror gets a lot of vibrations from the door.

I had previously used another brand of 2 sided tape but it continually slips and I am always re affixing the mirror to the tape. I removed the old tape and used the t-rex tape. What a huge difference.

It’s been up for several weeks and not once has the mirror moved or slipped. Granted it’s only holding about 60 pounds but it’s working perfectly and I have better piece of mind. Keep in mind this tape will potentially damage your walls when removing.

But if you need a super strength two sided tape that works this is the ticket.

Depending on what you want it for, this tape is great. It truly attaches to the surface and stays there. However, it is on the thick side, which does not serve for my purpose of securing a replacement keyboard inside a laptop.

It is difficult to cut it. Either stick to the cutting surface or it attaches to itself if kinked. Overall, if the thickness is not a problem, it will secure most materials. Price-wise, it is a good value.

Scotch Colored Duct Tape is the very best product you can use when you are moving to another house or apartment. Choose one color for each room and instead of having to write which room a box is going into, simply seal the top with that color tape.

When we move, I seal all of the Master Bedroom boxes with blue, all the Kitchen boxes with yellow and so on. When I’m finished, I put a piece of each colored tape on a piece of paper and tape it to the door of that room.

Movers love this because they can quickly get all of the boxes to the correct room without having to decipher your handwriting to figure it out and then spend more time of their time trying to figure which room is the office and which is bedroom #2.

There are plenty of other uses, too.

Duct Tape works great for just about everything. just ask a man lol. Duck Tape is super strong and durable. It holds up to basically everything. The added colors and designs make it even better. Now, men have even more to love about it but, also now women have a fun way to understand what men find so appealing about Duct Tape and how awesome of a product that it actually it.

I am going to read this product a two star rating. Scotch has many other good product especially for tape product. The adhesive wasn’t really strong And the products that I wanted to be able to hang up on the wall paper products didn’t last long and I and I need to be able to work on the grid for the two-sided one.

As a regular tape product it’s all right but as a two-sided product I’m gonna give it to stars I wasn’t given an average acceptance of this product. Hopefully they come out with the newer one that I can be appreciated.

Obviously any specialty tape is going to be more expensive than the standard blue painters tape, but this is well worth the $$ if you want to protect your new paint job! I chose to not tape all my walls and ceilings when repainting and free handed cutting in.

As a result I had a few spots of wall paint on the ceiling. It made far more sense to me to touch up a few spots on my ceiling vs taping off a 2200 sq ft house- twice (once for walls then again for ceiling) However my concern was for my beautiful new paint job.

So I did my research and pros suggested using this product to touch up and even out lines. PROS – does not remove any paint or damage the wall in anyway when removed! Not even freshly painted walls (i let them dry for a couple days before I applied the gap) – paint does not seep under nor bleed – adheres fairly well- not super sticky but absolutely does the job CONS – cost – thin – see through- this make applying it tricky as the tape curls up and sticks to itself but in NO WAY does the thinned effect the job it does HIGHLY RECOMMEND having one roll of this tape on hand when painting, especially when doing an entire house.

Hello Scotch – I am a fine artist who works in watercolor. My painting surface is high-quality (very expensive) watercolor paper. Before I begin a painting, it is necessary for me to mask out the edges of my painting’s composition with masking or some other tape.

The problem is that some tapes can remove or even tear the paper while it’s being removed. I am now using your Delicate Surface Painter’s Tape 2080 which eliminates this problem. Does this tape come in white as opposed to pale violet? Tape of any color other than white when applied to a painting’s parameter conflicts visually with watercolor paint selections I need to make throughout the painting process.

Note: Artist materials is a huge industry and Delicate Surface Painter’s Tape in white would be in high demand.

I don’t have the patience for those chalkboard labels you write on with the wet-dry erase pens and then you have to wet wipe them and write the next thing. Even worse? When you keep a label on glass it starts to degrade then you have to fight to get it off to replace it.

Enter this 3M tape. You can write on it with a sharpie, pop it on your canister, bottle, or whatever, and when it’s empty? You peel it off and throw it away. It’s also this really nice dusty pastel purple-ish color that’s not over the top cute but also not neon.

a nice compromise. I put it on my homemade syrup, oat milk, or whatever, and then when I get ready to remove it. it just comes off. no leftover sticky residue on the glass! I’ll be keeping this in my pantry until it’s discontinued, for sure!.

Everything I read said this was what was needed to not peel paint off my walls. ABSOLUTELY untrue!!! Just like scotch and 3 others I tried this too peeled the paint off my walls! 3 coats of kills primer on a new sanded drywall cured for 2 weeks and it STILL peeled the paint off my wall forcing me to redo all 4 walls in a room!!! Don’t believe what they tell you this crap doesn’t work! Now I have to return the remaining 2 rolls halfway across the country because I couldn’t even get it here! Unless you want to paint sand and repaint a painted wall don’t use this tape!.

I got Duck Brand Foam Handle Tape Dispenser with HD Clear Packing Tape just in time for the family move. My favorite feature about this packing tape is the padded handle. It makes for easy taping needs and is also comfortable.

The tape is very strong I was very pleased at how well it held the boxes together. Startup is a little tricky. I had to look online to figure out how to load the tape into the dispensary to get going.

Not a huge problem but simple directions with the packaging wouldn’t of hurt either. The packing dispensary is quite large so doesn’t really fit in any of my drawers, which isn’t terrible because it pretty much has to be set out right anyway due to the fact that I large amount of the tape is exposed when loaded.

Very easy to swap out old tape with new. All you have to do is Twist Off the side knob, and the old one pops out and you push a new one in. Then just twist the knob to your release setting liking.

This product is a lifesaver for someone who is constantly mailing packages, moving, or just trying to organize. I have wasted time and tape, trying to properly cut tape and cut it evenly with scissors.

It took so much extra time to secure a box, due to the fact that I constantly found that the tape was getting twisted, or it was hard to locate the tape where I left off (after I eventually made the cut).

Scrapbookers and card makers use a lot of this tape, but the changes they’ve made are the pits. It used to be a great with for mounting items, but no more. Now it’s about half the width. One of the main advantages of the tape was that you could tear it and it didn’t stretch.

That feature is gone too. It has to be cut! The adhesive was tacky, but until you pressed it down, it could be moved. Not any more! Now it comes with that gooey adhesive that stick to everything it touches and gives you no room for adjustment.

I’m truly disappointed that 3m has chosen to cheapen their product to this point. Time to start looking for a good substitute. I might as well but the cheap stuff and save my money!.

I purchased this product to stick some motion-activated lights underneath my kitchen cabinets. Each light strip weighs no more than 2 lbs, it’s just a thin plastic bar. but ever since day 1, we’ve had each light fall off and smash into the counter (thankfully none have broken) intermittently.

Sometimes we can manage a light to stick, undisturbed for 5 days at a time. But this product which claims to have a “30lb” hold on the front of the package, could barely manage to hold up a flimsy 2lb plastic bar.

Not a long term solution for us. Sadly I had thrown away the receipt so I can’t even return it. I really wanted this product to work.

A few years ago I mounted all of my prints on my walls with Scotch double-sided tape, and they are still all there! Recently I bought some new prints that needed mounting and thought I’d try “Gorilla” double-sided tape as I’d heard good things about it, but it was extremely hard to use as the backing was almost impossible to peel off.

And withing a few hours all the prints that I’d used Gorilla tape on had fallen down! Maybe the surface was the issue – it’s slightly rough dry wall with a coating of paint. So I bought a new roll of Scotch double-sided tape and stuck the prints to the wall with that with no problems at all, and the backing peels off without any problem.

Disappointed in this tape, I figured it really would be permanent given it’s used on the right materials. But it doesn’t even stick permanently to paper!! It’s been super frustrating because it was in the same section as more heavy duty mounting adhesives and I was hoping it would be some type of medium middle level adhesive.

Not like regular tape but not heavy duty enough to be bearing any weight. But I have tried putting it on everything. And every piece I’ve stuck somewhere is easy to peel off or just won’t stick in the first place.

I’m dumbfounded how it has 4/5 star rating. The only way it makes sense to be rated >2 is if it was stuck to some Kleenex maybe. Buy something better or even just regular scotch tape would be stickier.

Honest review, maybe I just got a bad roll? But I won’t waste my money on it again to find out.

While spray mount and other adhesives were used, it was the Scotch Double Sided tape that really made a very large display project come together on time. When spacing was preset, volunteers could quickly post updates on large boards and maintain a professional presentation.

Doing a project with this double sided tape is quick and clean with no drying time and the items are mostly relocatable.

I use at least 2 dozen rolls of Scotch Double Sided Tape every year. Unfortunately, I have to buy 3 dozen rolls to use 2 dozen. At least one out of every three rolls ends up in the trash after repeatedly breaking.

There is no rhyme or reason, it happens in all seasons. It could be 1 or 2 rolls out of a box of 6 rolls, or I could go through 10 rolls without a single break and then the next 5 rolls will be useless.

I’ve used it in the retail dispenser, a standard tape dispenser, and the Scotch Applicator with the same unpredictable results; either complete & constant success or total frustration. Breakage aside, it’s an excellent product and the difficulty restarting a broken roll is a testament to the quality of the adhesion.

The Tape Gliders have helped lessen my need for the standard rolls, but they can be too cumbersome with small projects and the adhesion isn’t as strong. Would I recommend this product? Yes, but with the disclaimer advising them to be sure to have more than one roll on hand; just in case.

This tape is of good quality. I am using it to make a tunnel book. The adhesive is two sided with one side requiring you to peal off the non-adhesive side. It makes it very easy to work with because once you stick the adhesive side down all is left is to peal the top and stick it where it is needed.

The adhesive is strong as well. I recommend this product.

Good sticky tape, easy to tear if you need to. I now have all the different sizes. I first bought the one inch and was cutting it, for thinner strips, but I have to clean my tools after and can get stuck too on your tools.

So I love the convenience of the different sizes.

I have been a loyal Gorilla Tape user for as long as I can remember, and I used A LOT of it!!! I use tape for everything, from repairing cracked register vents, to holding toys in place for my special needs 7 year old son.

Unfortunately, “G” tape was no longer strong enough, He would pull the toy off his mat, or even just take off the tape like it was nothing, I thought I was doomed to replacing the “G” tape on a weekly basis.

AND THEN I tried T-REX tape. Holy holding power!!!! I am no longer a loyal “G” tape fan, it’s T-REX tape from here on out! Thank you T-REX!!!!.

I bought the tape to do a temporary repair on a canvas tent. The tent has been left up for weeks since repairing a rip about 6ft long. This tape has kept everything together through high winds and heavy rain.

It’s certainly performed far better than I had a right to expect. If it was clear, I’d leave it as a permanent repair. If you want strength and weather resistant tape, don’t look any further.

Bought this once, thinking it “might be a little stronger than regular duct tape”. Boy howdy! A “bit stronger”?? Try “suitable for building a house”. lol. This tape is amazing. Not for everyday duct tape use.

We use it to cover the inevitable gaps on the window installed air conditioner. Never buckles, rips, stretches or moves. Excellent for those tough applications where regular duct tape just won’t do. Don’t plan on tearing it off.

you’ll definitely need a blade.

Why Scotch doesn’t include this essential and easy technique to separate the tape from the backing I haven’t a clue, but here it is: — It’s true that when the tape and backing terminate at the same spot (like if you cut the combo) it’s almost impossible to tease the tape away from the backing.

So do this: 1) On the dispenser, pull the tape and backing out about 1. 5” beyond the cutting blade. Then cut a short length of this protruding tape (about 3/4”) , flip it over, and then attach the sticky side of about half of this to the sticky side of the end of the remaining tape and backing.

The two sticky sides will stick tightly together, and this will allow you to fairly easily peel the non-stick backing away from the remaining protruding two-sided tape. 2) Once this is accomplished, the rest is easy.

Remove or cut off the short flipped-over segment. Grasp the end of the now fully exposed two-sided tape, pull it forward to the desired length while holding and peeling back the separated non-stick backing, and while making sure that the backing is peeled back far enough to be short of the cutting blade, go ahead and cut off the desired length of two-sided tape.

4) Repeat ad infinitum. If by mistake one cuts off the tape and backing at the same spot, then repeat Step One. In other words, one can’t just cut off a length of the backing/tape combo (like would seem logical) and hope to separate the tape from the backing.

Hence all the poor ratings. One has to separate the tape from the backing before cutting off the length of tape you want. I hope this helps! I hope this helps! 2) Once you’ve peeled the non-stick backing.

I went into the store looking for Scotch removable tape and it was not on the shelf. I bought the poster tape instead. I found that the serrated edge of the dispenser was not robust enough to easily tear the tape.

The only way I could cut it cleanly/accurately was with scissors. The liner was extremely difficult to remove from the table itself. I had to really pick at it to finally get the liner off. Not the quality I normally see from Scotch branded products.

This tape isn’t very sticky. Had to put lots of it on my project to keep it in place. It is nearly impossible to peel off the tab strip from the tape. I found that if you pull the tab & tape from the dispenser but DO NOT RIP the tab strip, instead separate the tab from the tape before ripping, then only rip the tape off, leaving a long trail of the non-sticky tab, it is much easier and goes faster.

When the tab strip and tape are the exact same length, you cannot separate the two. Keeping the tab strip attached and only ripping the tape underneath makes it easy to separate the tab from the tape.

I installed this tape on a 90 degree day. The adhesive is very messy. Though it sticks great to itself, it didn’t adhere to the deck as well as expected. The deck was dry and clean. After sitting for a week, the tape expanded and detached every approximately every 12 inches.

I would have expected it to shrink not expand. Especially since it was installed on a hot day. Since it unstuck in parabolic hills, it generated excellent opportunities for water infiltration, ice damage and rot.

The exact thing it’s supposed to prevent. I was one role short so I got a generic role of butyl tape from the home center. It was 3 dollars less a role. It was applied under the same conditions and it remained adhered and flat.

Trex protect was a waste of money and time. A lot of hype and expense and a huge disappointment. Buy the generic butyl tape from your home center.

I refurbished a 12’x30′ 12ft off the ground 14 year old all wood deck, I was very surprised the framing had no rot of any kind and I was able to just add blocking and do a few more things to make it structurally sound for the trex decking, and figured taping the joists would help it go another 15 or so years.

I was expecting from the reviews I read that the tape would be sticky and difficult to work with but found that not to be the case, It was in the high 50’s to low 60’s when I installed it and I really had no problem as long as I did not let the sticky parts touch each other, being 12 ft off the ground was the biggest problem I had since I’m in my late sixties and not near as surefooted as I used to be.

As far as peeling the backing goes, if you understand what I mean here, I had belter luck starting the peel by peeling the tape away from the backing rather than trying to peel the backing from the tape.

The backing is stiffer than the tape. I like the way the edges fused together when I had to lay a double wide run. It took a lot of tape and time to do this so I hope it is worth it.

Replaced my deck boards (10 y/o double kiln dried SYP that was already rotting) with Trex. Didn’t use butyl tape the first time but all recommendations were to use it to protect the joists. Pretty easy to tape the joists once you open the package.

Unfortunately the product label is taped over the instructions but basically dry and dust free joists are necessary – but this stuff is STICKY.

I received a free roll of this tape from 3M in exchange for my honest feedback. I’ve used almost every mainstream brand of painters tape on the market, including white tapes from 3M and it’s direct competitors.

From using this roll, I’m confident in saying that this is the best performing white/beige painters tape on the market. Unlike other white tapes that are very thin and have the tendency to sliver/shred off of the roll while unwinding or removing from the surface, this tape has a stronger backing that unwinds very smooth.

Like you’d also expect from a white tape, this tape has very good adhesion and tack. I’d love to start seeing this tape more readily available for purchase at the local paint stores in my market. I think it will fill a nice void for me, as I haven’t been thrilled about other white tapes on the market.

What difference buying the Scotch Greener Masking Tape was. I thought masking tapes were all alike, but not true. This one peels off the roll easier, affixes firmer and longer, and is much easier to write on.

Don’t buy the cheap stuff; spend a penny more for deluxe quality.

I received Scotch General Use masking tape for free from 3M. I can’t remember when I bought my current roll of masking tape. Guessing it’s over 20 years old. Maybe it lasted so long because I wasn’t happy with it.

No matter how carefully I tried to tear off a piece, it would start to be uneven so the end piece was only 1/4 of an inch or less. Unlike that old stuff, this tape tears evenly. I’ve used it to label my Tupperware containers, hold paper in place while crafting and to mark the wall where I planned to put a nail.

Each time it took hold easily but also removed easily. Plus it didn’t leave any glue on the wall. That’s a big improvement over my old, frustrating roll which is now headed for the trash can.

Though this tape is blue, that’s the only similarity to the other brand. This tape tears apart when trying to pull, unroll and apply, and you end up with little pieces. Not hardly what’s needed for painting and line definition or protection! The other Blue brand 3M is better.

But the Green Frog tape is actually much better. You can unroll and apply perfectly. And if it touches itself, you can pull apart and still use. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy the HF Blue Painters tape.

Bought 4 rolls of this crap. Placed it on an interior bathroom wall and stwrted to roll out. After 4 feet, I tore it off and it IMMEDIATELY FELL OFF THE WALL! Tried a second time as I jad adjusted the first.

I paint often on many different mediums. This is painters tape. It is supposed to produce sharp paint lines. It doesn’t stick…not for more the a few minutes. Paint migrates under this tape. I realize painters tape should not stick as well as non-painters tape, but this fails every criteria.

Do not ruin your project…get some 3M.

This tape is Super strong. Id say this is the strongest on the market and a very well made product of this kind of tape available. It Can be used for so many different applications and I always like to have a roll in the home as you will always find a use for it eventually.

Its a decent width at 5cm and At 11 metre in length around 33 feet for us older folks you get a good amount for your money. Ive used cheaper although not by much and the quality in comparison to this stuff is on a different scale.

This is super strong in regards stickiness and has a thickness to it unlike cheaper versions. Be very careful not to make the mistake I made of cutting a length off and resting the edge on any painted surface similar to what you do when taping parcels.

In my case it was on our painted window sill as it takes the paint clean off as its that strong. It can be used for all sorts of things even split hose pipes. Having a cat I get a piece to take the hairs off my black backed cushions etc even works out cheaper than those rollers.

If repairing a hose obviously it has to be dry but once applied water shouldnt affect its adherence. Gorilla branded products I find to be the best and for whatever your reason even if its just to have a roll on standby you cannot go wrong with this product.

The price is great and as I said above in cheaper stores its not that much cheaper for a weaker tape. Its a excellent buy at this price. And a very happy customer.

I needed some duct tape and ran across this. I bought it because I had heard that Gorilla products were good. What I had heard was right, at least as far as the tape is concerned; haven’t used any other Gorilla products but I will in the future.

This tape is very sticky stuff and very hard to get off the roll (of course, it could just be me since my hands are 73 yrs old and prob aren’t as strong as some). But one thing for sure, once you finally do get it coming off the roll don’t let it get twisted and stuck together ’cause you’ll never get it unstuck from itself.

You might as well cut that strip off and start again. I would definitely recommend this tape 100%.

This tape is expensive for sure, but much better lasting than most other tapes Ive used. It appears to be a combination of three factors1. Its quick thick, so apart from being strong has a thicker spongy layer of adhesive, which appears to attach itself much better to uneven surfaces.

2. The tape doesnt stretch, so although you cant bind things like you can with electrical tape, it doesnt budge either. 3. The glue appears to be very strong. It sticks to your fingers much better than any other tape Ive used.

Awkward at times, but shows how good it is. This roll is 48mm wide, and Ive used it to repair the edge of a bench that was covered in rubber. Its nice and smooth, stuck to the rubber EPDM really well and hasnt even shown the slightest hint of peeling at the edges.

I still use cheaper duct tape for jobs where Im using a lot and being waterproof and strong doesnt really matter, but for durable jobs, this is excellent. Their glue is also worth looking at, especially as it expands when curing.

It fills the gaps on surfaces that dont perfectly match. With the glue and this tape in your work bag, you could probably repair just about anything.

tape will not roll because it’s sticking to the backing. I can pull some tape out but cannot place it properly on the item because the tape is sticking to the dispenser. Impossible to use the cutter, have to use scissors.

I would have bought a tape runner but the store was sold out, I wonder why? Very disappointed in this product.

I am very happy with my Nano-Grab Double-Sided Gel Tape! They provide excellent adhesive quality with maximum strength. The circle gel tabs are transparent, so they blend easily into the background if you need to hang glass or clear items.

Easy to position and makes it simple to perform projects on your own without having to juggle a pair of scissors. We live on a street with heavy truck traffic which causes our walls to shake, that in turn leads to our pictures to become askew.

I am pleased with being able to eliminate my weekly task of realigning them by securing the corners with this fantastic product. Another great way to use these discs are for detailing hard to reach crooks and crannies in your vehicle.

I am able to get dirt and grime out of the smallest spots on my dashboard. I would highly recommend to friends and family!.

I am very impressed with how this Duck Max Strength Nano-Grab Gel Tape Circles work. I think these are super easy to use. Very convenient to have already ‘cut’ circles, instead of the long length of tape you have to cut.

These Gel Tape Circles held pictures and small shelves up without damaging the wall. I also used mine outside to hold up a ‘Deliver To Front Door’ sign for delivery drivers. So far, it’s held up in the rain and regular day.

They are easy to remove without taking off paint or ruining surfaces. I’m find these fantastic for organizing and am looking forward to using these for Holiday decor!.

I used this in my garage to mark the rubber curbs that mark our cars’ parking spots. Since installing the curbs I had tripped over them (flat on my face once) a couple of times. I have now surrounded the rubber curbs with Hazard Marking tape.

The tape is quite visible. The tape sticks to the cement floor perfectly. It has prevented me from tripping. I am writing this honest review after receiving this product at not charge from 3M.

3M sent me this product free to try out and I must say, it gets the job done like with any other duct tape — but what makes it unique is that it doesn’t leave that sticky residue when it’s on for a while.

So the primary thing we’ve used this 3M No Residue Duct Tape on was for keeping our dryer’s door open as we take out our clothes. It keeps closing on us whenever we try to remove the clothes. So I use one long sliver of tape and tape the door to the closet door (our washer and dryer are inside a closet) whenever we take out the dryer and once done, I just remove the tape and lightly hide it in the corner.

The few times I’ve stuck that tape, it’s still sticky, and doesn’t leave a mark anywhere! Also, used smaller pieces to hang small dollar store frames and so far they’re still hanging and can move pieces around if need be with no rips on the paint! Definitely a must-have multipurpose tape to have in an apartment!.

I was provided with a free roll of 3M No Residue Duct Tape for review and the first thing that comes to mind is, what took so long? This product is great! I was able to use this product in a variety of ways, easily reposition it without tearing up boxes and other paper derived products, or leave any residue.

Even after repositioning the tape still retains adhesion and strength. The 3M No Residue Duct Tape also has a cloth fiber-like quality that makes it flexible and strong, it tears easily and is perfect for temporary fixes where you want to maintain a clean surface for a permanent repair later.

This is also perfect for securing or bundling items that are too heavy or unwieldy for regular ties or rubber bands and you don’t want to mar with adhesive residue. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

Perfect for installing the Schottis (black) blinds from IKEA. My window has several small parts so the Schottis are too long and you need to cut them. I tried the Scotch double-side tape and it didn’t hold, but this one worked fantastic! It’s super sticky.

You have a to really pull to unstick it from your fingers while handling. Tip: Clean area thoroughly and the wipe with alcohol.

This T-Rex Double Sided Super Glue Tape is a great idea for a product. It has multiple uses around my home. Especially when it came to putting up some small strip LED lights. I enjoyed the way they had the easy to remove protective film on the tape to keep it from it sticking together while rolled up.

It also came in a really easy to open packaging. As well as it was a decent size roll of tape. However, I didn’t like how thick the actual tape was. I couldn’t use it for several of the projects I had wanted because it was too thick.

It also did not hold well. It’s like the actual glue itself wasn’t as good as it would’ve been using a super glue in a liquid formula. Now don’t get me wrong, it worked well to fix a hole on my pool float which held that material together very well and to hold up the strips of LEDS but they were also able to be peeled right back off.

They never really stayed when it came to sticking to the flat smooth cabinets. They did stick very well to the back of my TV though. I’ll keep testing it out with different uses around the house and update if possible.

I do think this will come in handy. I can’t wait to see any future improvements to it.

Bought a 3-pack, despite reading the negative reviews about the backing being hard to peel off. And then went through the same frustrations. until I realized that THERE’S ONLY BACKING ON THE FIRST 6-7 INCHES!! Roll out that section, cut it off, toss it out, and the rest of the roll is ready to go.

No backing to peel off. No frustration. There are no instructions on the packaging (which I have to admit, just one line of “How to get started” on the box would probably help those of us who are, apparently, less smart than tape).

The only instructions are printed on the part of the tape that you’re supposed to remove — a little awkward to read since it rotates and is printed in six different languages. Alas, after trying in vain to remove the “backing” from first part of the roll, it suddenly became apparent that the part of the tape that says to “Unwind this protective wrap” means exactly that: unwind it, and remove that section of the tape and you’re golden!.

I love this double sided tape and it’s my preferred method for journaling. It’s not messy like glue sticks or liquid glue — even tiny nibbed glue pens. And you can be more accurate using this rather than a tape runner.

Also, it’s definitely permanent— far more than the other options mentioned above. Not really understanding how people assume there’s a peel off backing. It seems intuitive that the first few inches are to cover and protect the actual tape itself.

There is no backing and nowhere does it even hint that there’s a backing. You just treat it like a normal roll of tape— pull, and cut off excess with the built in cutting mechanism. It’s basic dispenser style tape, but both sides are sticky instead of one.

3M sent me a free sample of the Scotch® Double Sided Tape to evaluate. I found using the tape to be very easy. For example, when you removed the protective layer covering the roll both sticky sides are exposed.

So, when you cut a piece off its ready to use. There is no need to try to remove a protective layer when its cut from the dispenser. In general, the tape seems to be sticky enough to hold other paper to it, similar to regular tape.

I just wouldn’t use it for any heavy weight items. As for the width of the tape its rather narrow. I estimate its half the width of a standard scotch roll tape. So, depending on your project, this could be a good be good or bad.

Lastly, dispenser for the tape is very flimsy, when cutting some tape off, it always felt like it was going to break.

I initially purchased this tape because I didn’t want to replace my front bumper over a missing bolt. I highly recommend taping your bumper if you’re able. This stuff has held up. I even taped it in a way that you can’t see it.

UPDATE – got stuck in the path of a tornado – 80 mph winds, hail, semis flipped over AND MY BUMPER DIDNT FLINCH. Didn’t move AT ALL. All tape was in place and my mind is blown. Buy. This. Tape.

Bought this for covering up some rust on my pickup. The extra hype about Gorilla tape influenced my decision. I have used duct tape for so many use, this tape has outperformed any other tape I have used.

After driving around for last 2 weeks in -25c, snow ,slush and 2 Truck washes, it has not only cured and stayed on, I do not even have 1 loose edge starting. Amazing tape, will be the only one in my tool box moving forward.

This is a good tape. It would be more than 1 star if they were not specifically selling it as an outdoor/waterproof tape. No, it isn’t. It isn’t any better than their normal duct tape which I use a couple rolls per week of.

So if you aren’t looking for true waterproof tape, this is more than a one star tape but you may as well buy their less expensive duct tape as it is a really good tape for less money. If you really want/need a waterproof tape, the only one I found that truly is waterproof is 3M’s #393 duct tape.

I keep hoping I’ll find one that is less money as I use a bunch of that as well and it is over fifty dollars per roll.
