20 Best Ted Dekker Books (2022 Updated)

I know its cheap. But when you receive a book in such terrible shape. Taped and almost falling apart. Thanks for that. Held together by tape. This should have been thrown away.

I bought this book because it is the 2nd book of the circle trilogy. The first is called Black and I suggest reading that before reading this one. if you plan on reading either at all. Anyways. this book was much more exciting than the previous and was well worth the money I payed for it.

This small review might give some things about the book away so if you haven’t read it yet. beware. There could be spoilers. In the book, Tom is the leader of the Forest Guard army and they are constantly being attacked by the Desert Dwellers.

While working on fighting these mind sick creatures, he starts dreaming again in search of answers on how to fight back his enemy and the location of the Books of History. Betrayal, death, and faith run wild in this 2nd exciting book, Red.

The Circle Series (Black, Red, White) is an amazing series by Ted Dekker. It’s full of action, adventure, romance, and suspense! I definitely recommend it! The last book, Green, comes out September, 2009! Check it out at www.

This is the most amazing story, a fiction tale about a guy that goes to sleep and wakes up in a different worldscape, that turns out to be Earth, several thousand years in the future. Every time he sleeps in one world, he wakes up in the other, and both are tied together in the grips of destruction.

A Christian story of salvation, that is not overtlyy so, and was the very first thing that I had ever read or heard that adequately described to me, in a way that I could truly understand, what GRACE is, and how God’s love applies to each of us within it.

Grace is a big buzz-word in the church, and many think they know what it is, but truly have no idea of what it really means. The first three books are the cruxt of the story, and the last, wraps up loose ends.

I strongly reccomend this story for any avid reader that wants to understand how God really feels about us all. And, I do mean us ALL on this rock.

This is my first hard copy of his books and Im quite emotional. I love it so much! And I was taken aback at how clean the book looked. I did not expect it to look this clean; could have passed as a brand new copy to be honest.

In this fast-paced read often written in first person, Grace has grown up only knowing that their community is protected from the evil Fury by the red rope that surrounds Haven Valley.

Protected by spiritual leader Rose and her angel Sylous, the remote town must abide with all rules to survive. When outsiders cross over the red rope, Grace questions not only the required ways of living, but she wonders if the residents are following the wrong path to redemption.

With her own spiritual guide to help her, she must have the wisdom and fortitude to understand the difference between fear and the light of love. ~ Why ~ Having read several of both authors’ works, I was pleased how well written this story was and that it focused on the Truth of Jesus while living in love without fear.

The reader will immediately become engaged with the protagonist who is trying to listen to her heart and head while her subconscious of good and evil crave for her attention. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus may not have any interest in a book about how legalism can blind believers.

Some who do not care for allegories about learning to overcome fear and cleave to the Light of Christ will pass on it. With the complicated back and forth of trying to figure out who is right and who is wrong when it comes to the Real God, the book often gets confusing.

I found the theme repetitive of similar books written by Ted. ~ Wish ~ While I appreciate the connection of fear and guilt to encompassing one’s life as they struggle to relate to God, I question if the eternal plan of salvation was clearly stated for an unbeliever reading the book.

I wish all pronouns of God were capitalized for reverence. ~ Want ~ If you like a story about overcoming one’s chronic fear and guilt of the constant rules of religion, this may be a good selection as it verifies that those in Christ are His light of the world.

This book is not the typical Christian fiction that I normally read! The father and daughter writing team of Ted and Rachelle Dekker have created an intriguing tale of Grace and Jamie and the thirteen years that they have lived “behind the red rope” in a secluded community in the hills of Tennessee.

Grace was six when she witnessed the appearance of an angel named Sylvanus and what was the beginning of their separation from the outside world. Now, thirteen years later, her brother Jamie begins to question as he secretly begins to slip beyond the perimeter of the red rope to view the outside world.

Grace fears that he will be discovered and that they both will be ejected from this place that they call home. It is only when her father and a young boy show up that Grace begins to find errors in much of what she’s been told and she has her own questions that need answering! The Girl Behind the Red Rope shows how fear can control our lives and how the best intentions can be destroyed by this emotion.

I found this to be a fascinating story with intriguing characters and even though I have many questions I do see that love is the central theme among the symbolism used by the authors. The members of this group were like many people: they thought that they must be perfect to earn God’s love but we know that perfection isn’t possible and that God loves all of us.

It is His Grace and Jesus’s sacrifice that makes our redemption possible. The Girl Behind the Red Rope has certainly made me think and it is a book that I want to read again, if only to gain more insight! I received a copy of this book from Revell but a positive reiew was not required.

These are my honest thoughts.

A bit less than expected from a Peretti novel. His other books have all had a significantly better involvment in spiritual warfare and the truth of God’s presence and ultimate victory in each situation.

The hopelessness of fighting evil man’s way is outstanding, but the truth of where ultimate victory lies is never brought to light in a significant way. Man seemingly is left to save himself, which is impossible; yet Christ’s victory is both downplayed and ultimately lost at the end.

Where was His Truth?.

I have to agree with everybody. I could NOT put this book down. It kept me on the edge of my seat!! It was the first book that I read by Ted Dekker and I was amazed. He is now one of my favorite writers.

He knows how to write an excellent book.

This book is so good. If you like Stephen King but want a Christian author These Guys are it. Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker are on my new reading list. This book is sure to get you hooked on them. I hope they write more together.

I loved thr original HON series. I’ve been reading the Other World series. I like it, but not as well as the original. “Forgotten†has changed that. The book is a setup for a big event in Zoey’s world, and all the awesomeness of the original books will ve brought to the other world series.

This book is very well written, and has a surpise at the end.

So, I got my book on October 30th and finished th book three days later, could not put it down! It was absolutely the best book of this series, cannot wait until author comes out with another Other World book.

I absolutely love this book! It’s by one of my favorite authors and it got here super quick! I’m so glad you guys had it in stock. It’s a really good read as well.

The last time we left John Puller he was riding off into the sunset with an unknown designation. John isn’t usually a man to do anything without a plan, but this time he did. He had try and forget or get over the pain of his last mission.

Only time would tell if he would be successful. Now, Agent John Puller is back, not at his best yet but the day was just beginning. John will receive a call that will plant his feet on Florida soil in what at first looks like taking care of his aunt, his father’s older sister.

When John arrives, what greets him is another loss. The longer he stays in Florida, the more clues he finds that something is amiss just like his aunt suspected. More begins to follow than simply taking care of business in regards to his aunt.

In fact, it’s about to get really dangerous maybe even life-threatening! There is man who wears a size 16 shoe who is evidently on the hunt for something or someone while working for a lawn care company that pays in cash.

In addition to the mysterious big-footed man, now there is something about a very rich man who has secrets. The man will do whatever is necessary to keep his secrets, his lifestyle and people who are treated like slaves a secret.

John Puller can’t be sure who is on what side as he begins to slowly peal back layers of what goes on in the small town in Florida after dark. As he does, the body count goes up with few clues. One can never tell by the cover of a novel what is inside.

I knew I wanted to read more about stories that centered on Agent John Puller. Military, political, suspense or thriller type novels are one of my favorite genres to read. The only part I didn’t care for in this book were a couple of short scenes that while the author didn’t describe relations between people it was certainly enough to understand.

When I completed the novel, I could see why the author included it as it did bring home a point of human trafficking and slavery.

John Puller is a Special Agent in the U. S. Army CID. When this installment of his adventures opens he is returning from a few days of ‘R and R ‘ much needed after his last assignment in West Virginia ended with his trust being betrayed a lot of people getting dead and the Nation saved from total destruction and ruin; in other words a typical day for a fiction novel hero.

His return home is short lived as he receives news that his father needs to see him (his father a retired Three-Star General expects his requests to be treated as orders) so John hurries over to see his father in the retirement home as the General suffers dementia.

During that visit he learns that his favorite aunt his father’s sister sent a cryptic letter shortly before she died indicating the possibility that her death may not have been an accident. Thus Agent Puller is off to Paradise Florida to check things out.

Upon his arrival at this Gulf Coast tourist mecca it is quickly discovered that ‘Paradise’ is not as peaceful as its name would indicate. The hotel he can afford is in a part of town the tourists would never see or believe if they did.

‘ Within hours of his checking in he interrupts the assault of a young lady by three street thugs. After he dispatches the hoodlums those he rescued ‘happen’ to play an integral role in what our hero is about to discover about this community and the death of his aunt.

The book is populated by a giant of uncertain ethnicity a crusty Police Chief who is initially unimpressed by Puller’s credentials local police who are professional or incompetent and a mega-rich mogul whose wealth has been achieved at the demise of those who trusted him and who is a textbook example of ‘entitled.

‘ The action is ‘as expected’ in an action filled detective novel ñ the hero is outnumbered but his superior training/mind/luck always carries him through. None of the characters or the plot is developed beyond two dimensions leaving a flat Water-Colored crime novel that is perfect for a beach or rainy day read.

I doubt John Puller will make his appearance on the Silver Screen anytime soon. I fully expect his tour of duty – uncovering crime stopping bad guys making the world safe – to be extended indefinitely.

Once again David Baldacci has you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see how John Puller will pull it off and survive the latest escapade. Puller constantly finds himself in the middle of a mystery which ends up in a dangerous situation.

The author does a great job of developing the characters and setting up the intrigue. There is the usual sexual tension, but not overt extra descriptive details. Puller is a class act. caring about his father but walking that fine line to respect his history with the military and his mental acuity issues.

He has a great way of looking at things and figuring out how to solve the mystery. And he’s just a tough bird. physically able to take on the bad guys, smart enough to work through the clues, and do caring things for the lost and downtrodden.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I couldn’t put it down, it just was so compelling – causing me to feel emotive about the characters. Great historical and motivational read.

I love Ted Dekker’s stories and knowing he is a Christian writer I was anxious to read this book. I know I will be pleased.

A few years back I was watching a TV show that led me to this book. I found this book a mix of both imaginary beings and a treasure hunt. The poems as I see them aren’t in order with the pictures, very hard to follow or even begin any hunt.

A lifetime could be spent searching in Cities. And never be any closer than I. Nothing stays the same forever. Every thing changes with time. Most likely half of the treasures have been found ( but never recorded, due to person not knowing item was linked to a vast treasure) ,or have been moved by construction or natural disasters.

This is the strength of a treasure and the unknown. If you’re in a position that can fly to over 10,000 cities and search by using blurry pictures and poems, to hunt for Mr Priess treasures. Go ahead.

But chances are you could be reading the wrong poem connecting with a picture. Or even be in the wrong city all togeather. You could be a few inches off or miles. As far as purchasing the book. I would say No.

I feel that the price of the book is way too low, to be believable for such a grand treasure. I do doubt that the treasures still exist, or ever have.

There are two books. One is great the other a chapter book. I bought the chapter book in error. Be very careful and read the description to make sure you get the correct book! Difference between night and day!.

I bought it as a birthday present for my sister (who NEVER asks for reading material). I thumbed through it before wrapping it up and found myself extremely intrigued by the layout. It’s a history lesson, whodunit, treasure-seeking with maps and instructions to possibly find actual treasures hidden across the US.

An enjoyable, quick read that begs rereading again and again. I plan on buying my own copy in the near future.

This was my book club book for January and I wasnt sure how it would go, I’m not generally a fan of sci-fi. Thoroughly entertaining with a strong and complex female bisexual lead, it was also a very good commentary on social media, celebrities, human nature, fear, and the sheep/mob mentality that follows from the unknown.

I’ve recommended and insisted on lending it to many people now and found it an excellent read although a little slow getting going. Stick with it you won’t be disappointed.

A thought provoking story of how society’s thought process is shaped by the internet in an easy to swallow modern day si-fi adventure. It’s a fun fast pace read with an interesting plot. The sequel is awesome as sell.

I’ll admit I had high expectations after reading many of his brother’s books, but this one did not disappoint. Very engaging and unique. Looking forward to more books from this author in the future!

This is one of my favorite books of all time. The storyline grips you by the throat and never let’s loose. It is like a crazy, crooked country road, you can’t see what’s coming at you around the next curve.

Descriptions of scenery and character development will put you right in the middle of the story. You will not be able to guess the ending! I continue to tell everyone about this book. It’s just that good! I feel sorry for the author cause he has set the bar so terribly high that I’m afraid it’s going to be impossible to top this book.

I read a LOT! This is a book that I’ll re-read many times because it is perfectly written. When a book hurts you to lay it down for anything, and you go whew! at the end cause you’re so tense, when you really, really want, no need, to know what happens to the people in the story????? This is that kind of book! Lonesome Dove is probably my all-time favorite book, and this is right up there with it.

Please read this book. You won’t be sorry, just block out the time to read it because you won’t want to lay it down til the end. Thanks Tim Johnston for a great book!.

Seriously – I could not put this book down – except when I needed to catch my breath or calm my heart. What a story! And especially, what a storyteller! Reminded me a bit of early Steven King edge-of-your-seat tales – but the fullness and depth of characters goes WAY beyond.

I was brought to the edge of tears more than once – feeling what the characters felt, both bad & good, so beautifully & succinctly related. With multiple characters reacting/feeling/handling one situation in so many deeply felt ways – the completeness of each is remarkable.

And totally believable. I am still reeling from this story and my involvement with the characters – both the main ones as well as secondary characters. The only one not fully fleshed out to me was the ‘bad guy’ – but isn’t this fitting? What do we really know is in the mind of a bad guy? Or how he came to be? Thank you Tim Johnston for a GREAT read! Looking forward to your next one!.

The first part of this book seemed a bit wordy and more of a chore rather than a pleasure to read. It wasn’t until I was invested in Sean’s character that I felt the pages of this book turn themselves in flurry to arrive at the tale’s end.

The story was interesting and I think Johnson understands the nature of grief and loss in many ways. Interesting too was his portrayal of the discomfort and guilt that people feel when going on with their own lives in the wake of someone else’s tragedy.

I like too how the horrors experienced by Caitlyn are left a lot to the imagination; it allows the reader to ponder the choices and arrive at an over all feeling of what happened to Caitlyn rather than a laundry list of humiliations she endured.

Great Book Highly recommend to anyone that presents material to others.

White is the third and chronologically last book in the “Circle” trilogy consisting of the novels “Black”, “Red”, and “White”. This is an apocalyptic tale of good versus evil told between two realities, one familiar as modern day earth and one fantastic with angel-like bat creatures and magical properties in many common-place items.

The main character, Thomas Hunter, slips between the realities and fights to prevent the victory of evil in both worlds. Dekkers writing becomes more exciting as the tale progresses and the novels link themselves to the familiar concepts of Christs redemption of man.

A great read, especially for the fan of fantasy and spy novel genres.

it was well written and an edge of your seat thriller. it kept you guessing and is something that i would recommend to any reader! i look forward to purchasing more books by ted dekker!

This is the third book in the series; I loved it when I read it 15 years ago, not my teenage son is loving them too!

The book is a good read. The book was interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. The details allowed me to feel like I was the character.

Life-changing series by Ted Dekker – thrilling but the Christian application is very clear and no unnecessary gore like the later books tend to have – I recommend all the circle books! You never see God quite the same again! God is AWESOME!.

My Sister and I happened Upon this series or books through the recommendation of my other sister. We were totally drawn into the story and just couldn’t put them down! We eagerly waited for them to come out.

I love the adveture of the story and the suspense and action. I love the little Relationships thrown in. I am an Big Ted Dekker fan. I bought this book as a gift for my sister.

I am new to Ted Dekker novels, this was my 5th one. I wasn’t disappointed. Adam draws you in from page one and keeps you hooked. Though you know who the serial killer is, there is a twist at the end that is a little shocking.

I recommend Adam for any Dekker fan, it’s worth your time. For those who haven’t read any of Ted Dekker’s novels, this would be a great one to start with. Dekker doesn’t disappoint!.

I love Ted Dekker’s books. I first started reading after reading all of Frank Peretti’s books. Ted Dekker’s books are even more exciting and thrilling. His books have a great Christian message without being excessive.

Once you read one of his books you will be just like me, waiting for the next one to be released. I recommend this to any and all readers that like a good thriller without all of the needless additions that come with so many secular books.

Fantastic thriller. Ted Dekker is a great story thriller, getting better with each book. If I said anything more about the book I would begin being a spoiler and I would not want to do that. The book came in great shape also and was carefully packed.

This was my introduction to Ted Dekker. Great book. Christian horror. Yes it’s possible. His books are enjoyable with a message and even nonbelievers will enjoy and delight.

This book blew me away! I could not put it down! I had no idea of the ending and would not have guessed it at all. I think this was the third of fourth book of Dekker’s I read and was by then well and truly hooked.

I like his writing style and his plot twists. I was thoroughly taken in by the main character and most of the time felt I was there in the book. I nearly went past my railway station being so absorbed into the story! Would definitely read this one again without having to think about it.

I enjoyed this book from the first page. The character Amos Decker is awesome. David Baldacci is an amazing author and I would highly recommend this book and the whole series featuring Amos Decker!

If you have enjoyed the strange life journey of the Memory Man, you will not be disappointed. Forced to take some leave time in a town ruined and dying from the selfish actions of the towns founder, Amos stumbles onto a double murder that just doesn’t add up.

And the murders continue, even attempts on Amos. In this sequel, Baldacci gives us a story that mirrors many our modern problems and leaves us looking forward to his next book.

This is my favorite Baldacci series. Now 6 books! Main character is Amos Decker who can’t forget any memory. Wonderful supporting characters, too.

This book combined all of the author’s heroes so on paper it should be a 10/10 book. However the individuals seemed to strike points off each other and his main hero Bosch came out as a rather talented spoilt child; while the other individuals such as the Lincoln lawyer did not shine.

As such this book, with its rather mundane story and predictable ending was a disappointment. However Connelly’s next book is superb and showed he has retained his excellent form. It is still recommended as a read as my judgement is made on Connelly’s previous books, and not on the normal run of the mill detective books on the market.

The Lincoln Lawyer was a very good read and introduced Mickey Haller in the perfect way. Mickey and Harry Bosch came together in The Brass Verdict, Nine Dragons and now in The Reversal. Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller novels are always worth reading but as individual novels and not always together.

Whichever character takes the ‘lead’ in the book the other character runs the risk of being no more than a support and neither of these two individuals are believable in that role. In saying that The Reversal is a good read however Harry Bosch comes off being truer to the Bosch we expect with Mickey acting more as a link to bring everything together.

The book is in excellent condition, I won’t be reading it for awhile as I have 3 additional Michael Connelly books to read before I tackle “The Reversal”

Third book in the trilogy – Brimstone & Dance of Death. Rollercoaster ride of events and characters with unexpected twists and turns.

These two authors are excellent in their combined story telling. From the first sentence, you will not want to put the book down. Amazing story.

This is the book that started my interest in Preston&Childs novels. Esp FBI agent Pendegast. This book goes from the begining, returned jewels stolen from the Mueseum, murderin the new Eygptian display.

An FBI agent in prison framed by his evil brother. A mystery an exciting fight in thenewest maximum security prison yardthat leads to a bold escape. Police who are helpless in solving the strange and frightening murders.

A faithful friend who is an ex-police Leiutenant. All this combines into a thriller ending on an evening opening of the exhibit.

“Life and death – we think of these as destinations, but they’re not. they’re NOT. They’re choices. And you have a choice to make. ” I must confess that I was first drawn to the book by the blurb and James Rubart’s endorsement for this debut thriller from Caleb Breakey.

And, indeed, this book is one electrifying, intricately plotted, fast-paced psychological thriller that is like a masterpiece of art emerging through a fog to reveal its true beauty once the fog is cleared away.

There are quite a few secondary characters that play vital roles in the plot who provide third person narratives and one real main character named Markus Haas who speaks in first person narrative. The jumps between narratives take a bit of getting used to, but, once the story starts rolling, it isn’t difficult to switch from Markus’ thoughts to those around him.

It is definitely a book that is difficult to put down, since the “conductor” seems always two steps ahead of Markus and the breadth of the conductor’s reach seems almost too great for Markus to overcome.

With each chapter, more of those controlled by the conductor are introduced and the reader, along with our hero Markus, is left wondering why the conductor is performing these heinous acts and what the finale will be.

The ending is a burst of revelation that will leave you shocked and re-reading previous chapters to find the clues you may have missed. Faith element is not overt but a steady presence in the plot that allows Markus to truly see himself as he wages war against evil.

I am looking forward to the next book this author will release. The ending of this book is like the end credit teasers for the Avengers movies. you know it’ll be bigger when the sequel comes out. I received a copy of the book from Baker Publishing Group through Interviews and Reviews and was under no obligation to post a positive review.

Stunning new thriller from debut fiction author Caleb Breakey! I wasn’t sure what to expect from The String. I had read one non-fiction book of Caleb’s before so I knew he could write, but that doesn’t always translate to fiction.

The String, however, proved that wrong. The String follows the twisting path of several characters all wound together in a complex web of blackmail, motivation, and deception led by The Conductor. I found the idea intriguing, to be sure, and quite a bit creepy.

But, along those same lines, I also had to suspend belief quite a bit for this to ‘work’ in my mind. Caleb does a good job at making it appear possible, but still the spectrum of woven threads that made the story work are rather complex and almost a bit unbelievable at times.

The only other ‘issue’ (if you can even call it that) with the book that I had was the various, multiple POVs. I think the author does a really good job of handling the jumping, but it did take a bit to get used to this.

In addition, some different “persons” (aka: first person, third etc) were incorporated and while that is fun it can sometimes be a bit distracting at first. Not really a con, just more of a noticeable thing.

As a psychological thriller written in the Christian market, I was surprised at the violent content (though not descriptive) but I see how it served a purpose. I actually applaud the author and the publisher for tackling this genre with a fresh perceive and one that could stand up in the general market to an extent.

The Christian content, while subtle, is well done (in my humble opinion) and I like how it was incorporated in a natural way. I definitely recommend this to those who love thrillers and a bit of horror (though I wouldn’t really categorize this book as that).

I think you’ll find a fresh new voice in Caleb Breakey and that fun bit of “creepy” that he adds to this book! If you are at all squeamish or easily scared, I’d suggest reading during the day 😉 My rating: 4-5*.

Plot: The idea for this plot was good however when put to practice I don’t think it was quite up to par. There were several twists that kept the book interesting but when I had finished I didn’t feel satisfied.

There were several stories converging to make the sum of the book and I think there might have been just a little too much happening. Characters: There was not enough depth to the characters in this story.

The first couple chapters give a little insight to the history of Beck but other than that the characters lives are only revealed in small chunks of information if it became relevant to the plot. Themes: Overcoming fear was the theme of this book and while it was obvious I don’t think that it was integrated into the story enough.

It was covered in the beginning and then in the end but through the middle of the story the themed just kind of got lost and out crowded by the plot of the story. Emotion: I did not find this story to have much emotion.

There was a lot going on and it kept my mind busy but there wasn’t emotion in the words. Overall: I really like the way this book is written from so many different perspectives. It gives a much deeper understanding of what is going on.

Even as you read all of the perspectives the story is still written fluidly so that you don’t get lost or confused. I also really liked that after each chapter there was a map to show where things where happening.

This book is amazing! I’m Pagan and I love ALL of Frank Peretti’s books even though he is a Christian author. I have the Oath as well and will be re-reading it soon. Definitely recommend all of Frank Peretti’s books.

He is the master of thriller/horror books. He is amazing!.

This is my third book by Frank Peretti and it, like the others is fabulous, although a totally different genre. Lots of plot twists, lots of action, suspense, and yes, even some humor. The situations, though not reality, are written in a way to draw you in with the characters to the point you can (almost)believe it’s real.

A great,fast read that leaves you wanting more!!! Highly recommended!.
