I’ve owned the 10ft Santa Cruz for a year now and have had 2 different motors, combination of passengers and cargo, and tried it out in lakes, bay, delta. Its stable and bouyant. The build quality is decent – the PVC material itself is thick enough and never punctured.

However the rubber strakes crack with frequent folding – its not a flotation hazard by any means, but just annoying that a foldable inflatable hull cannot be folded without the rubber strake cracking along every fold point.

Another annoying ****** is the placement of the carry handles in the rear is so wide apart that unless you have a wing span of Micheal Phelps, you are not able to lift the boat from the rear. The handles should have been placed on the inside of the tubes.

Careless design. The biggest disappointment with the Sant Cruz is that it does not do its job of planing. Not at all. I started with a 6HP motor and was startled that anything past displacement speeds, the nose just went high and dragged the rear through the water.

Took a loong time to settle down to a plane, and that only with engine screaming at max throttle. Even with 1 other person or kid in the very nose of the bow, the nose would not settle. Was very disappointed.

Changed props, no difference. So i next got a 9. 9HP motor and mounted it. I had to laugh, the 100LB weight of the boat made the stern sit low, it looked funny. With 1 person, the 9. 9 had plenty of power to get the boat going but the handling was really bad and downright scary with all the weight in the back.

Yes, i made sure the gas tank was in the bow and i was using a tiller extension to place myself as far forward as possible. It was not until i installed Lifters (or Tabs) in the transom that this boat settles down and performs as it should with getting on plane smoothly.

I wish i’d known that earlier. Newport customer support was very responsive, but could not advise anything other than ‘move forward’ ‘ check air pressure’ etc. Finally, i sold the boat and got a longer, wider and, better proven one and am enjoying what i should have enjoyed on the Santa Cruz.

So if you are buying this boat, better have the additional budget and fortitude to install lifters. I used maximarine lifters. Else, chill out at displacement speeds with whatever motor you have got.

Its not a bad boat, but i suspect that given the curvature upwards of the bow, and the short hull length, there just is not enough surface area to plane effectively. Finally think hard about the 10ft length.

The inside of the boat is about the size of a bath tub. 2 adults are cozy with no gear. Any more and it better be very short distance.

Great customer service and they told me to sign up for email to get free shipping. Amazon was jerking me around putting me on a waiting list and after talking with the Newport sales team, they were able to get a boat shipped the next day and for less than what Amazon was charging! The boat is super stable and I have had it in Lake Ontario with 3 ft waves and in the St Lawrence Seaway shipping channel with some big wakes.

I had a trolling motor on it at first, but decided to get a 9. 9 Mercury for more power and hoped to get on plane. After being disappointed not getting on plane I called the customer service and they advised me to get a hydrofoil after going over everything else.

I also put a 1 inch block on the top of the transom to get the bottom of the boat closer to the anti-ventilation plate and prop. It hopped right up on plane and stayed at a little over half throttle.

I bought the SE sport 200 hydrofoil from West Marine and it fit my motor perfect. Other tips I learned is that rounding the corners of the registration sticker and using E6000 glue helped it stick to the rubber and we put our registration numbers on with a sharpie and stencils.

Finally, the wheels are a game changer. Newport was out of stock because of covid so I ended up with Seamax 14” wheels and they are amazing. I take the boat out of our SUV when camping and it stays inflated for the duration, towing it around the campgrounds at 20 mph with the front tied into the hatchback.

If you get this boat and put a gas motor on it it is a 2 person boat because the tiller comes so far into the boat that no back seat is possible. I put a board across to hold a drink, my fishing pole and net.

This was a Father’s Day present from my family three years ago, as an upgrade from a semi-rigid floor raft. This is the most stable, versatile, and easy to transport water craft I’ve ever had. I’ve got this paired with a 40lbs thrust electric trolling motor, and top out at about 7kts on flat water.

I often have 3-4 people fish all day on lakes around the Pacific Northwest, and wrap up because my trolling motor battery is done, not because we’re ready to be off the boat. When we’re done for the day, I’ve modified a couple of kayak holders and we strap the inflated (empty) boat to the top of the car! IMO, breaking down and inflating for transport is not realistic to do regularly.

If I was moving, sure, for a day of fishing, no way. That being said, two adults can reasonably manage the boat out of the water. Unless this is going to live in the water all of the time, BUY THE TRANSOM WHEELS.

A good unit – easy to use. Like other reviewers, I found the lack of any user documentation frustrating. I had to go online to find a manual for the Hook2 series. However, most of the manual dealt with navigation, down scanning and other features that the 4X doesn’t have.

Even the diagrams were for higher end models and took a little working out which buttons related to which features. Only about six pages were relevant. Common Lowrance! – it can’t be that hard to provide half a dozen pages with 4X specific diagrams in the box.

Especially given that many customers will be buying this outfit as their first sounder. I purchased this unit to provide a second screen down at the transom (I also bought a second battery [deep cycle, 7Ahr] for around $45.

This saved wiring in to my existing electrics and also a drain on my main battery). My main unit, with navigation, down and side scan and other bells & whistles is up the front and difficult to see when fishing down the back.

I use it off shore and offer these couple of tips for others thinking of doing the same: 1) switch off the 200kh frequency of your main unit as the signals will confuse the transducer of the 4X; and 2) if there is any current and you are using burley in anything over about 15 meters, you probably won’t see the fish as they will be down current and out of the cone range.

I bought this fish finder on a budget because the salesman talk me into it. Worst mistake I’ve made dealing with my boat. Since day one it’s been issue after issue! Would not work properly for day one.

First hour or two seemed fine, then bam! Issue after issue. The screen keeps glitching, will not read depth accurately or at all, the unit keeps black screening on and off; now the unit will not turn off at all.

It I’ll power down and instantly turn itself on! Did a hard reset. Still having issues. I’m a Lowrance guy, but this is purely a waste of money and time!! Highly disappointed! Only been out on the water twice.

I should have listened the the bad reviews posted. however I took a chance and bought one. I wanted something simple to mount on my trolling motor on the bow. All I really wanted it for was contour and depth, I have a nice fish finder on the console.

The initial startup was fine. I turned fish ID on and was good to go, then I had to turn the ID off. It littered the screen with fish, false fish. I figured I could turn it off and not use that feature.

Then about 10 minutes into use it started glitching all over. The graph started registering the wrong depth, by hundreds of feet. Then it would level off and be fine. Then it was doing it all the time.

I would shut it off and turn it back on and it would be fine for a couple of minutes and then go crazy again. registering the wrong depth back and forth between 200 and 30 feet. It was enough that I finally shut it off completely.

Long and the short of it. I have an older Lowrance that does not have a lot of features that this one is suppose to have, however I wanted to get something newer than my 20+ year old fish finder for the bow.

I should have just used my trusty old one or got another older model on ebay that was proven. I have a hook reveal on the console and it is amazing. Just wanted a simple fish finder up front on the bow, and this is not it.

Save time and money and get something else from Lowrance.

This kayak is top notch, the price tag is high ($995) but you do get what you pay for. Our previous Wilderness Systems kayaks have been in service for about 18 years and still look new. One of the design improvements is the integrated and recessed kayak handles that replace the previous handles that were made of fabric and needed to be replaced annually.

They have also included a dry box and improved the foot pedal adjustment system to move more freely. There is also a dry box and cargo lids that are hinged so they stay attached to the boat. The 120 size is definitely the way to go!.

The first pair of these socks I purchased in 2011 and I still have them. They are the best socks I’ve ever purchased and will continue to purchase. They may be a little pricy but I’ve had them for over 10 yeast and still wearing them.

They have not loss there shape & they stay put. Love them!!!.

Ancor wire is the highest quality wire for marine or automotive use that I have used. It is very flexible, has a thick, tough insulation, and strips perfectly. It seems very resistant to internal corrosion compared to non-tinned wire.

Side note: if you have some flexibility on the roll length and insulation color of the wire, try toggling through the different options offered through Home Essentials Direct’s selector. The prices usually vary widely between different colors, and buying a longer roll isn’t always cheaper.

My SportPro 6 failed to work right out of the box. After calling Promariner I was told to modify the product by filing down one of the parts to make it work. That worked until just after the warranty expired and then the product malfunctioned and ruined my battery.

Now I have to replace both the defective Promariner battery charger and my battery. I do not recommend this company as they purposely continued to sell a defective product and then expected the customer to modify the product rather than replace it.

Needed to use as little space as possible in my 12v to 24v conversion. This 2 bank charger fit perfectly under the front deck and between the 2 batteries. Have not even plugged it in yet as the boat is in storage until spring but the install only took about 30 min.

I replaced my Optima in the Sedan. I replaced the AGM Bosch in the Truck. See the other review. The Optima is 66 months old. The Optima is a Yellow top deep discharge. It’s a great starting battery. But the Yellow is also good because the sedan is not driven every day.

The electronics drain the battery during the time it jurs sits. Recently the Optima was completely discharged after a long time of no driving. I recharged it but it would not hold the charge. Turns out the Optima has a dead cell.

The replacement AGM Odyssey is the same group size. The Odyssey specs. exceed the Opima in amp hour capacity, reserve minutes time and cold cranking amps. It even has a higher five (5) seco d peak current.

Plus the Odyssey has a one hundred percent replacement for four years! But the Odyessy AGM is very expensive!!.

Too large of a battery for my 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I would have needed to cut, bend, modify the stock bracket for it to fit. I don’t believe this company ensures fitment. Returned the Odyssey battery immediately and bought replacement battery at the dealer.

I started using Odyssey batteries over 7 years ago. I own a BMW motorcycle which apparently eats batteries. I had gone through OEM BMW batteries every 2-3 years since 1994. They had the only battery that fit it place with that high of a cranking amp.

It’s now going on 8 years since I purchased an Odyssey battery for that bike. Spins it over like a sewing machine, even after an entire North east winter, a few hrs on a charger and it starts up like new again.

Since then I have put Odyssey batteries in my ATVs, Snowmobiles and even the lawn mower (I switch batteries around from season to season). The last one I purchased was for a 2008 BMW X3, another battery eater.

Spins like crazy on cold starts and I expect 7-8 years of service from this one as well. Battery Mart sells them for a great price and fast shipping too.

OK, I admit that these batteries are expensive. I’m pretty frugal when spending money, but I’ve bought four of them for my cars over the past several years and they are all still going strong. While their main competition has reports of quality control and lifespan, these Odyssey batteries remain a no-compromise product.

Very nice also to not have to worry about acid leaking out and destroying the new battery tray. I have forgotten to hook up my battery maintainer and come back a week or so later and hooked it up to the Odyssey to have the green light on the charger come on within less than a minute.

These things really hold a charge. Other batteries under the same circumstances would take 10 minutes or more to top back off.

I purchased this Odyssey because of the 900 CCA (cold cranking amps). After exchanging the original Advanced Auto Autocraft (Diehard template rated at 850 CCA), even the second one refused to start when it’s very cold outside; about 35 degrees F or less.

By the time I received the Odyssey the weather was no colder than about 40 degrees. It does consistently start, but I won’t know till next season if it’ll perform below 40. But since this is the most expensive battery I’ve ever purchased, here’s to hoping it could start on the planet Pluto.

Well, I’m not one to crab or complain. I just count my losses when they occur and move on. This purchase is one of those. I bought these for my F250 6. 0L Diesel truck. I looked long and hard, desiring the very best for my electrical system integrity.

I finally believed these would be these best most durable and maintenance free batteries I could have. So, I was excited to get them ($600!!) and expected great things. They look great, came packaged fantastic and dropped right in place.

I thoroughly cleaned and inspected cables and connections for integrity. I also installed a new Mean Green 230amp high capacity alternator just to make sure of everything working great. Well, 8 mos later my batteries are at 11.

4V. dead, after sitting for two weeks. I have checked for current draws and found none. Every car has some kind of small load I guess (radio memory, gauges??) but good grief, these are humongous batteries! They shouldn’t be dead.

So I’m frustrated, yes, and some would start trying to diagnose a problem saying I must have a draw somewhere, it must have gotten hot under hood, or it was cold this winter, whatever. The point for me is, all cars have these slight occasional issues, but they don’t have these huge expensive batteries to carry them thru, yet they seem to do fine.

These should be able to more than handle these variances. I have had lead acid flooded batteries in these same type of vehicles before (7. 3 PSD) and never had a problem, except the necessary filling with water and cleaning required.

So, 8 months and $600 bucks later I’m saying they are absolutley not worth the purchase. I’m going back to Walmart $98 LA flooded batteries. Even if I were to replace them every year I will be way ahead on money.

I am soooo disappointed in this purchase. I just wanted the very best, and usually the most expensive is just that, the best. Not in this case. Hope for your own wallet sake you don’t make the same mistake as I.

Odyssey makes the statement, “ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries have the power to provide engine-cranking pulses in excess of 2250 amps for 5 seconds – double to triple that of equally sized conventional batteries.

And they can handle 400 charge-discharge cycles to 80% depth of discharge”. Obviously they are wrong. Even if I had a draw down, they claim I should be able to recharge. Not so, it just isn’t so. Hope this helps you in your decisions regarding purchasing these.

I’ve bought Odysseys for years. Best battery. Last the longest with the best reserve and fire power. JB had the best rate, great shipping and delivered a perfect product. This was my first attempt with JB Tools and they lived up to my expectations.

I’ll look to them for other stuff in the future.

This is just a great all-around kayak. The kayak paddles very well and glides through the water. A gentle effort will reward you with a 2 / 2. 2 mph average speed and you can push it up to 3. 6/ 4. 0 mph if you are determined.

As far as stability goes, it has very good initial stability, but it will dump you if you lean over too far. However, I think Perception did a good job with the hull design and seems to have threaded the needle between stability and performance.

With that said, I think they may oversell the stability of this boat. When you lean over the boat will roll to that side and will eventually stop at the next chine. However, it is enough of an angle that you will fall out if you are leaning too far out.

I for one don’t find it to be a problem, because I don’t expect my kayak to be stable like a jon boat, but I do expect it to paddle well and this one does. The molded in rod holders are too shallow for most rod, but a 1.

5 lb anchor fits in there nicely. There are also two subtly marked locations for installing your own flush mount rod holders. The gear tracks work very well and are positioned such that you can easily reach the full length of the track.

The front hatch is awesome and gives you access to the interior of the boat, including a long center section running the length of the boat. While you could not get them out when on the water, it would be a great place to store a spare rod or paddle.

The molded in handles are functional, but a “jug” style handle like on the bow / stern would have been nice. At 57 lbs, it is a little heavy, but manageable and I can load / unload the boat by myself.

The weight capacity seems to be legit, as I am 210 lbs and carry another 20 lbs of gear without swamping the boat. Finally, the foot pegs are a little uncomfortable on bare feet, but I purchased the larger padded foot pegs that Perception sells via (Harmony) as a nice upgrade.

All in, this is a great kayak.

Got the Perception Pescador 10 footer for fishing. The kayak itself feels durable and does have plenty of storage if you carry a cooler/milk crate in the back. The adjustable foot rests feel flimsy. Theyre made of plastic and the tabs on them feel like they could break if you push against them to sit yourself up.

The rod holders are also very wide and not very deep so a light tackle rod just flails around while youre paddling and hits you in the back or shoulder or worse your paddle. Stability is good for sit-down only.

I wouldn’t recommend standing unless youre very light (150 max) and water is calm. I’m 230 and the kayak flips very easily and with the width being so small at 32”, it’s hard to turn around without nearly capsizing so it does take some effort to pick yourself up, turn around in your seat for best center of gravity, and then reaching to whatever you have stored in the back.

Against current the kayak is very tiring to paddle so time your tides right. Storage isn’t completely dry either so get a wet bag if you’re gonna use it. Would need to option this one up of you want to be better but then might as well invest in a 1000.

I bought my tarova and the ladder part of April of 2021 and had it installed by Bass pro this past week, May of 2022. Although the goofed on the installation with a rookie mistake by blocking entirely the bow receptacle for the nav light, and they are going to reposition the trulva, I used the motor for the first time yesterday, sunday.

The use controls are pretty much intuitive, I didn’t use the foot control rather, use only the remote. Easy to use. Tried the spot lock and it worked phenomenally. Use the control to maintain directions and it worked phenomenally.

I found that the motor was really a game changer for my fishing and boat control and that I was much more relaxed not having a fight the breeze blowing the boat around which is a 16-ft Lund rebel SS so pretty darn light.

I initially was so comfortable using the directional maintenance feature that by being more focused on what was going in the boat I didn’t notice we had traveled into shallower Waters and I was headed towards one of the shallow water buoys.

Karma was great and I noticed my mistake and was able to make corrections quickly. But it goes to show you how much more comfortable it is being in the boat with the tarova rather than the trans amounted Minn kota that I did have before.

I certainly recommend the torova. Also I’m not going back to make corrections on the typos that Google voice recognition is creating. Google voice recognition sucks.

Enough is enough! I’ve owned 3 of these motors the last 4 seasons and also a Ulterra iLink model. The theory and design is good. The components in which the unit is built upon are lousy. Plastic, aluminum and stainless-steel don’t exactly belong together.

These motors are not for fisherman that fish 200 plus days a year. If you are looking for a motor and are in retirement this might be the motor for you as it’s more of a conversation piece while drinking coffee at the local bait shop with the boyz before heading out to the lake for a lazy day of angling.

But first take the lift assist off because it will be the first thing to break. I replaced it to many times to count. I even made calls and sent emails to the design engineers attempting to help solve the issues.

Eventually I got nowhere and I was ignored. The circuit boards fail, the steering housings fail and eventually your magnets will fail also. If you think the Terrova model is for you but have plans to fish 200+ days a season be sure to sell before the warranty expires because I’ll become a money pit.

My Terrova was the last Johnson Outdoors product on my vessel to go. So long you left me in a bind to many times and we are breaking up!.

There was some confusion with my original order as it showed in stock but was not. I changed my order to the Terrova 55 I-Pilot 54″. Kevin was easy to deal with and made everything right and I received my motor on time in just 3-4 days.

Only used the motor once so far but absolutely love it. I have an 1860 Seaark bass boat with a 75 Mercury 4-stroke and the Terrova pushes it about 2. 7mph max no wind. Spot lock works as advertised and I love that I can program routes using the auto-pilot feature.

I also like to troll for bass and walleye and the auto- pilot let’s me troll without having to fool with the trolling motor. I can put out my lines and the Terrova drives the boat while I sit back and tend my lines! Thanks Kevin! I will definitely be a repeat customer when I need a new fishing toy.

It’s a hybrid of a Echomap series and GPS series chartplotter with the best sonar compatible features and has a large UHD screen with more pixels then the 9 inch echo maps for greater detail in maps and sonar returns.

Right away you can tell it’s a heavier duty build than the 7 and 9 series Echomap. This unit will not record livescope thru active Captain so beware if you think it’s the ultimate sonar machine. The LVS12 port is additional feature for live sonar but beware had had bad reviews and less popular than the LVS32 and don’t know if a LVS 12 data can be shared to a 93 unit I know my 93 unit has a LVS 12 simulation so why can’t it share LVS 12 data if the ultra does the software translation to the network.

I know Garmin could update software to allow better networking and sonar recording features but opt not to for marketing strategy and older Echomap plus is discontinued and updates have stopped so you can’t even get the new vivid colors I have though many picky comments for being invested into the Echomap series over $4000.

00 and you do find limits for your hardware and it’s software too. they will always be coming out with faster bigger and better units with improved performance so to get units on clearance is the only way I purchase my echomaps and good prices with free shipping and a gift card plus a promo is how to get the most amazing deals on this unit.

I recommend only buying the Echomap series on clearance because they are always onsale from a latest model coming out. The 93plus sv met all expectations for a live image sonar unit so the 106sv is a huge upgrade can’t wait to get my hands on a GT56 and look at those new color pallets and pray someday Garmin figures out how to live sonar record on the app for as on their GPS xsv series plotters.

So is it recommend for the professional angler yes it is ,for the you tuber wanting to record livescope no it’s not unless you go pro it up close. Clearance priced echo maps and free shipping is huge savings and the echo map series I have bought all my units for amazing cheap deals for the best live sonar and user friendly menus I have ever seen.

The force trolling compatible controls is one of the units best features for chartplotting a course and really does out more fish in the boat giving you more time to fish instead of driving. I was amazed at pre programming a course and the turns and really just sit back and fish while the Garmin networked Echomap does everything you would want in a Sonar/GPS navigation system.

Not recommend for ice fishing the power consumption is high and will chew thru batteries because all the processing features but could be used if increased the battery AH to accommodate the draw. Dual memory cards for mapping and memory.

Can see the faster map processing for sure zooming in and out with a 10hz receiver compared to the 5hz in the 7 and 9 series. 2 network ports can host a variety of networking options for other echomaps or panoptix transducers.

Only thing though my lake is not available on this and my first Echomap it was with lake vu us lakes You would think ultra maps would only improve a lakes detail. Not enough customer service on mapping and the Echomap support doesn’t clarify mapping.

4 screen split is a new option.

Fantastic unit, exceptional clarity/accuracy and works as it should. If you bought it boxing day you got a heck of a deal. I find It comedic that people are reviewing this badly. Considering the fact that if Cabela’s doesn’t have in stock how is that a reflection of the quality of the unit if anything that states really good as they can’t keep it in stock.

The other review with the gentleman complaining about how Manitoba Lakes aren’t there maybe should have read what was included in the map coverage so he knew ahead of time. Also, none of the Inland maps in any of the NavTronics or overly great.

You are way better off to use the mapping feature in this unit to make a more accurate underwater maps. That is also not specific to this unit, but any unit. Moral of the story is do your research before you buy any fish finder.

But if you are going to buy one, this is a good one.

I bought this 93SV with the GT56 transducer a couple of months ago to replace my broken Humminbird Onix. The Onix was HB’s top of the line model when I bought it, and worked well for me for many years.

The Garmin does have better side and down imaging, but I do not like the user interface as much as the HB. It is often confusing and not intuitive. HB does a much better job there, IMO. I also miss the ability to split the screen in 4 parts (3 is the max on the 93SV) so I can have Nav, down, side and 2d all on one screen.

I’ll get used to it over time, I’m sure. But it was not the big step up in tech I was thinking it would be. I’m glad I didn’t update just to update. I’m not sure the value would have been there from the Onix.

an aluminum, having had my share of bent and dented seats after dropping weight belts, etc. The wood is bullet proof. Shipping was super fast, and communication with the seller was 5 star also. Like I said, this isn’t my first inflatable rodeo, so I have a pretty good idea of what works for us.

It’s has to be tough, easy to install aluminum floor, easy to assemble and disassemble, and hold together in the worst ocean conditions. For the price, it’s the best value on this size and spec inflatable, with a large company with a whole lot of accessories for this boat, from trolling motors, to under-seat storage, to complete canopy for winter use.

Consider using a low cost, light trolling motor instead of feeling you need an expensive, heavy and messy outboard. The trollers are the bomb these days. Highly recommend for fishing, diving, family fun in small, affordable package from known manufacturer.

I bought this boat few month back, it is so good. It has thick PVC. It also has pre-installed rod holders that are very useful. That is the best price on market, I dream for that type of boat for a long time and only now when I found ALEKO I was able to buy it.

That boat is incredible stable, I can walk in it with no problem. Now I can go fishing with my family and have fun on it with a gas motor.

Very good quality and very affordable boat. Takes about 15 min to inflate and lots of hours of fun. I’m using mine with gas and trolling motor and it can go so fast. Usually I install both motors. It also has rod holders that is very useful.

Using this boat for a long time already and has no issue. Super boat, I love it.

I seldom give 5 stars unless I have been using the product long enough to be that enthusiastic. However, I only purchased my boat a month ago and have only assembled and disassembled it. It will be spring before it hits the water.

From what I can tell, it appears to be well made, and the components are of good quality. Pumping the boat up with the foot pump would be brutal. The foot pump really should be considered a backup incase your electric inflator isn’t working.

I found my Milwaukee junior leaf blower works excellent, extremely fast fill, but it won’t deliver full recommended pressure. But sitting in the sun will probably finish the job. Really looking forward to putting it on the water.

I think it will do everything the manufacturer claims it will.

Love my Seaeagle! I particularly enjoy the ability to silently glide across high mountain lakes and watch the various wildlife without scaring them off. It is the perfect platform for all types of fishing whether it be fly or spinning.

A lot to like, but definitely room for improvement. This is a very stable boat. Setup and break-down take time – it is not a 5 minute process. Once on the water, the boat tracks well. The peddle drive is a great alternative to using the paddle and allows for your hands to be fishing.

There is good room on the boat for gear, and in my case, my 4 legged buddy (60lb Viszla). The construction is well made, meaning neither rocks nor my dog’s paws are a problem. That is the good – there are some things I would suggest.

The rudder lever is easily knocked out if using the paddle. It should be switched to mount from the front of the boat – that will require a manufacturing change and not something you can fix yourself.

The tool kit contains Allen wrenches, but the rudder comes with some Phillips screws – a minor point, but still frustrating. The boat could be redesigned slightly for more fishing gear under the seat.

Currently there is a good amount of floor space, but no where to put things out of the way. The Pedal drive is a disaster – BoteBoard is working with me on some replacements, but it does NOT go smoothly into the port or come out easily.

I am a 6’4″ male, weighing 200lbs. I really STRUGGLE to get the pedal drive in and out. Finally, with everything fully inflated and the rudder installed, this is not a one-man boat, without a LOT of effort.

Again, I am a bigger guy, but needed help to carry it from the setup area to the water and back. For the money, I had higher expectations. With the weight and struggle to move it around, I might have gone with a molded kayak instead.

This is not a simple, portable, easy to store unit.

At first I thought this was great for me. But it started to have minor issues by my second time out (fins underneath bending, pin connectors breaking). By my fifth or sixth time out my steering “cable” (they show a metal cable in their videos but it’s actually just string) snapped in the middle of Lake Champlain for no reason.

Turns out it was only held in the steering handle by a basic overhand knot. I called customer service and they said they were sending me a replacement steering system but they just sent new string. The steering system has 3 industrial rubber seals on it and they didn’t send instructions or solvent to remove them and replace the string.

Didn’t respond when I asked for instructions and it’s clear someone cannot properly make the replacement themselves. I complained again and now they say they’re sending me a full steering system. But I REALLY regret spending the money on this instead of a hard pedal kayak as the pros are not close to outweighing the cons.

I thought it would be easier to travel with but having had it for 6 months it would be easier to just roof rack a hard kayak. It also takes much longer to set up than advertised. Projected times must be based on inflation time and not actually attaching/setting up the component parts and accessories.

Really like the bote. Have used it twice, on a lake and river. Handles surprisingly well in wind and boat chop. Pretty stable, able to stand with ease. Takes a little effort to adjust the seat. The pedal drive works great, surprisingly sturdy and strong.

Didn’t pump up to the specs, went shy 2-3 psi. The seat can be hard, even less air pressure helped with that. This purchase was for my wife and she likes it too. Colors are sharp and pop (Citron), and she likes the high sides versus the flat surface like a Hobie.

It can be difficult to put back into a bag. what helped in this regard was letting the bote sit in the sun for a little bit. warm it up (not blazing hot). then fold/roll it and it fits in the bag just fine.

Primary use will be recreation, secondary fishing. we did buy the rocket rack but not thru Eco as they were sold out. Rating a 4 star because there were some cosmetic seams pulling away at the nose of the bote on the inside floor.

Kept it inflated for a few weeks, air stays in. Other than that, great product/concept and overall happy with the purchase. I do recommend it. Cheers!.

We use this as the dingy stowed behind our yacht to get onto remote beaches and small islands. Its been out in the sun all summer long for 3 yrs and still in good shape. The oar locks are good and the motor mount is solid.

Very solid feel with aluminum floor, and 4 good quality chamber valves for fast fill and empty (buy extra electric Coleman pump). The pressure gauge that was included helps to not over/under fill. The one way bilge valve is great to let the rain drain out, and to empty any water once planing (using motor).

It took some time getting it setup initially but easy to get together now after spending the time. It is solid and more durable than the 8 foot inflatable. You can stand up comfortably on this boat. Its very durable.

Highly recommended. Wide enough to sit comfortably and some extra room to fit 2 adults and child with ease.

the seat! You cannot find a model with a stadium seat like this without splurging on high end $1000+ fishing yaks. That alone makes this model a great choice. In regards to features such as rod holders, accessory tracks, bungees, dry storage, etc, ALL of those things can be added easily to most “base” yaks inexpensively, however, upgrading seats on yaks is more difficult and complex because the cutouts are not universal.

I’m quite the handyman, however, interchanging (stadium type) seats on a yak is difficult without significant surgery, so it’s best to get the seat you want right out of the gate! If you don’t care about the seat however (i.

e. you’re buying yaks for the kids to use on weekend tubing/river trips), then just buy the cheapest base models available and add whatever accessories you think you need. If you plan to actually use the yak for fishing or other extended trips, the seat on this yak is a steal and a must.

In regards gripes about this yak, they are minor. a) has no storage bins by default (can be easily added to both the front and back, which I did) b) I don’t like the rod holder positioning. I use it mostly on rivers with low hanging trees and the rods stick out sideways and get caught on them.

I’d rather they be angled inwards to keep my horizontal profile smaller. they are also a little hard to reach behind you when seated. I ended up adding a 3rd, angled inward and where I can reach it easier.

c) these are not the fastest yaks around. Some of the base models paddle a little faster through the water. d) there are no fasteners (eye hooks, cleats, etc) for things like anchors, ropes, tie downs, etc anywhere on it by default.

That said, leaving them off is probably a better design because that allows you to easily add these things exactly where you want them. which I did. Overall, this is an excellent offering and unique on the market due to the upgraded stadium seat which cannot be found anywhere else in this price range.

If you are even a little bit handy, you can accessorize the crap out of it and turn it into the equivalent of the $1000+ models you see at the store sitting right next to it.

IšverstiShow in original languageI bought 2 of these in lemongrass green and the beige recon fusion. The next morning the hull of the lemon grass had a concave about the size of a grapefruit right below the paddle holder cut out.

Just sitting my garage overnight. I got the divot out, but noticed the hull to be very soft in this area on both side. Compared to the beige one is night and day. I am about 160# and putting most of my weight on the beige hull, I can barely push it in.

On the green one I can push it in with my pinky. I took it back to Dick’s the next day and exchanged it for a blue one. Same thing is occurring. The blue hull is very soft in a couple places and easy to push in with one finger.

I wanted 2 beige kayaks but all the stores around me only had the one. I know plastics and know for certain that white and light colored plastics uses a lot more titanium (Ti02). You cannot get the darker colors with too much white pigment in the plastic.

My guess is the Ti02 in the beige color makes the hull more sturdy. I am going to keep the blue kayak because no one has any more beige. Really wish I could get another beige one though. Took them both out on the water and caught some nice fish in them both, but the soft hull in the blue one is still very concerning.
