20 Best Tent For Motorcycle (2022 Updated)

Bought this to avoid the constant having to store my bike in the shed that’s in the back yard. Nice alternative to a cover and super fast and easy to use. I’m going to build a wooden base for mine since there’s nothing to keep it from blowing away if you can’t secure it to the ground while the bike is not inside being stored.

Bought this to keep my bike dry in the rain, but it leaks and the bike gets nearly as wet inside as it does if I just left it out in the rain. It rained the first day I assembled it. Im pretty disappointed in this purchase.

Took about 2hours to put together works good so far. I recommend a helping hand if possible just to hold things together while you bolt them. Happy with my purchase.

I live in Alaska. I am not a fair-weather outdoors woman. When the salmon are in, we go. When its time for moose camp, we go. When we feel like it, we go 🙂 This tent was amazing, especially for the value.

Never had a worry in rain or wind, very well sealed with a durable deep tub. This is the first tent I’ve ever owned that does not condensate. Fantastic ventilation, which does make it colder, but, I would rather have that than damp blankets.

The huge vestibule is awesome! With the added pole, it extends well over the tent door, giving lots of headroom. With the entrance door on the side, you can easily enter and exit without worrying about water dripping in the tent.

There is plenty of room for us to put a little action packer to sit on to remove shoes or wet gear. The tent itself is roomy, I would say three could fit comfortably on a regular weekend trip. As we stay out for a while, it works better for us as a two person with a small Labrador, and a ton of gear, with plenty of room in between it all.

It has two small pockets for gear, and nothing for a light or anything, which was the only thing that disappointed me initially. I purchased a three person hooligan for my two children. After one weekend trip, and one weeklong trip, I was very impressed and happy.

Cool when it was hot, dry when it was wet, lots of room, AWESOME. We took them out to fish camp, a trip that lasted 12 days. In the midst of mosquito season, BOTH tents mesh door zippers started failing, skipping teeth, leaving gaps.

Seconds count when your diving in your tent. I managed to pinch the backs of the pulls together, but, eventually, it spreads out, and starts to fail again. I find it very rude that it made me fall in love with it, then did this.

Its not even something that can be forgiven, its a deal breaker. I went out and bought a travel trailer. THANKS COLEMAN.

We needed a tent with a foyer so we can tent with our crate-trained dog. Thought this was the perfect tent. However, after only one previous camping trip, the zipper on the fly began skipping. We thought our attempt at self-healing the zipper worked, but when the wind kicked up the zipper failed.

Not good, as the interior tent is primarily screen. That’s great when the skies are clear. However, we found ourselves in blowing rain. The flap proved totally worthless as protection because the zipper pull just ran along the track and where it was positioned was the only place the flap held.

Personal experience in upholstery suggests that the problem is with the sharp corner the zipper has to take at the top. This design would have been much better if the zipper went from the bottom straight up to the seam where the rainfly support pole is positioned.

We owned a Coleman tent 12 years ago that was designed this way, and it never gave us trouble once. Otherwise, we love this tent. We were able to pin in some velcro pieces to keep the flap closed, and that kept the rain from blowing in.

The screen is great because we’ve never had trouble with condensation, even camping where the temperatures dropped to 30F. Obviously, we need warmer sleeping bags to compensate for the better air flow, yet that’s a small price to pay for staying dry.

Our last trip saw several days and nights of heavy rain. Fortunately, someone was in the tent when the exterior fly failed, and quick action kept the interior dry. After pinning in the velcro, we had another heavy rain/hail shower.

The rainfly did its job, and we stayed dry. Honestly, if the fly zipper hadn’t failed, I’d be giving this tent 5 stars. BTW, this tent sleeps 3 very comfortably, with room for bags along the sides.

Light weight for long hikes. Very roomy with two people. Can fit four people easily. Roomy with less than four people. The tent does not work well in cooler weather. Could be cheaper price wise.

I’m a first time camper preparing to take my daughter camping with her Girl Scout troop next weekend. Thank goodness I tried putting this tent up at home before arriving at the campground because it contained no stakes! We went to Walmart to get 4 stakes and had a gracious neighbor give four some more, which you do need for the rain fly and welcome mat thing.

Once we had the stakes, it was easy enough to put together and we like it very much. Not sure if the stakes were left out of the package or if they simply aren’t included. If the latter, it would have been nice to know how many are required.

I purchased the tent from the Coleman website.

I spent $80 on one of these tents 24 years ago & still use it. When my kids were old enough to camp, I let them use this tent because it was so easy to set up. I just bought each of them their own. This humble tent has survived regular use in all 4 seasons of the Michigan & Wisconsin North woods.

It has not let water in yet despite some impressive rain storms, though I do waterproof it every few years. I think I used seam sealer on it once or twice. Its all stained up from years of leaves, sap, pine needles, occasionally being wet in the bag for a week, but I think of it as patina.

The floor has never torn, nor has the canvas. It even still smells ok inside. For $80.

I acquired this tent in 4/2021 but did didn’t use it until the next month. I had it on two camping trips total in 2021 and just brought it on the third trip for Memorial Day weekend this year. Two parts broke on that trip: one of the metal connectors at the end of the pole, and one of the plastic clips on the tent that hooks onto the poles.

Just my luck, I was just one month out of the 12 month warranty period when it broke. All Coleman offered was a 20% off coupon which I personally would not spend more on a Coleman tent if I’m only going to get 3 uses out of it.

Purchased this for a thru hike- excited about the space:weight. Early on my hike I experienced 30mph winds that nearly destroyed the tent- foot end facing into the wind and the entire pole system bent to one side to the point that the ridge pole was about 2 feet off the ground.

I’m the morning, the poles were permanently bent. This was with all guylines pitched tightly. One of the newly designed buckles holding the fly to the body stopped clicking in- for no reason with no visible wear or jam.

I do not recommend this tent for a thru hike or use above treeline. Had high hopes. The instructions emphasize site selection out of the wind, but wind is often unavoidable. Why is there no way to guy out the top of the ridge of the tent? Why does the tent not have line-locs and adjustable guylines? Big fail, Big Agnes.

the negative- parts are not marked. it took a few tries to figure which way the cover fit over the frame. there were places in the cover that were sewn and small gaps could be seen in the material. from inside the cover I could see sunlight coming through them so it surely will allow some moisture under the cover.

this cover doe not have any type of floor, so wherever you place it, will be what the bike stands on. suggest a hard wood or concrete/brick substance. my FXD dyna has a windshield. the cover end does not open high enough to allow for the windshield so the entire cover has to be picked up and placed down over the bike.

the positive= it does give good protection from the elements. better than just a bike cover. time will tell how it holds up to snow. since I cant ride into the shed ,I also cant hard mount the shed to the foundation.

Did a lot of research on the brand…good reviews, but when we got it the stitching was poor in spots…two materials not sewn together. We should have sent it back but we didn’t have time in the location we were at.

It is very convenient to take our bikes in and out. It was fairly easy to put together.

Works extremely well! Works best if you are transporting with your stearing alligned straight. Still covers mostly when parked and stearing turned, but doesn’t cover the front tire completely.

The description didn’t mention that these are the sky models of the kukenam tent (at least the camo one I ordered was) but really who cares. This is my first RTT, I have had it on the truck less than a week, only slept in it one night and it’s scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

Yeah it showed up a week early. Assembly was pretty simple after i watched the Tepui sponsored YouTube video. It went together very smoothly. Think ahead before you just put the rails on and really plan it out how your going to mount it.

Would definitely recommend using 2 ratchet wrenches for everything as well as an elevated workbench not your garage floor. the materials used for the explorer series are pretty heavy duty for a tent and i am a little curious how much heavier the ruggedized versions are.

Mounting on my Tacoma was pretty awesome with my RCI bedrack because I’m able to adjust my rack to fit anything I want. I set the tent on rack and adjusted it to have the largest mounting surface but still able to move the tent side to side to clear a kayak if needed.

With the tent on it only sits about 4-5″ above the cab line and pretty much even with the shark fin. If you’re going to mount it on the bed don’t mount it to close to the cab if you want to use all 4 awnings, I mounted too close and can’t open the one over the truck, I also don’t care I can’t open that one up.

Setup and teardown is a piece of cake with the zipper on the cover and the cover itself being the only fault with the tent if you had to find one. There’s nothing wrong with it and it does exactly what its supposed to very well.

Bedding can’t be stored inside which would be nice. Originally I really wanted a hardshell to begin with for those reasons but had a tough time with the 3k+ price tag and at half that for this tent I couldn’t be happier.

It is still less than 5 mins each way. seriously it takes my wife longer to make the bed in the tent than it does to set it up. Sleeping in the tent is a very nice experience when compared to sleeping on the ground.

We chose Irish Canyon/Browns Park CO for our first test run and the conditions mid March were not ideal. My wife and I both had plenty of room even with everything else in the tent, I’m 6’2″ 220lbs she’s 5’6″ 120lbs plus a Blue Healer and Jack Russell terrier 2 gear bags and a few “other” items one would keep in the tent out in the middle of nowhere.

So with all of that we could still sleep comfortably. Which was good because it rained most of the evening and into the night. The tent is waterproof. duh. and holds up great in the wind. The mattress does leave a little to be desired but it is exactly as described and really comfortable for only 2.

5 inches. I will likely upgrade to the Denver Mattress siesta pad at a later date only because I’m a small child and I want to. All in all this tent exceeds every expectation I had and most of the Hope’s I had for it too.

I researched soooooo many RTT’s and was almost completely sold on a couple different hardshell tents (bundutec, iKamper and Alu Cab were my top 3) but price tags and mounting options for short bed Tacoma’s weren’t compatible with the bedrack I already had, so I grabbed up a Tepui and am very pleased with everything.

I’m so glad I splurged on this thing. It is a breeze to set up once a friend helped me install it on top of my Subaru Forester. The foam mattress it comes with is pretty comfortable, and not sleeping on the ground helps me stay warmer.

The cover I received was really tight so it was a big pain to wrestle the tent back into the cover–not sure if this was a defect or the material just needs time to stretch out. But after a few camping trips, I couldn’t deal with the sore fingers anymore trying to stuff the tent back into this rigid cover in 30 degree cold.

I contacted Tepui and they sent me a new cover right away so I really appreciated the great customer service. Now my 3 big furry camping buddies snuggle up in the Forester while I sleep in my “Treehouse”.

I bought this as a substitute for an awning/screened in porch set up for my rooftop tent. Works great, excellent materials. My only complaint would be that the included stakes are rather wimpy. They don’t quite take the abuse of the rock and high winds of the mountains.

Bought a more rugged set of spikes and it is perfect for my adventures.

We purchased this tent to replace our old Exped. The Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel has a spacious feel, and the vestibule is really generous. Pros: it’s light and airy, and has good headroom. It’s unobtrusive, which makes it good for bush camping.

Plenty of room to store all your gear under cover. Cons: the tent only comes with 10 pegs, so we had to buy extra pegs to have enough to peg it out. I’d like to have more options for tensioning the fly – it flapped about a bit in gusty wind.

I also got a big drip of water down my back when I unzipped the door in the morning… The tent is fine, and will suit most bike packing camping situations. It’s just not amazing – maybe I’ve been spoiled by my previous tent :).

Will try to be as helpful as possible here, as it was hard to find out a lot of info on this tent. Cons: 1. I was very disappointed that in 2 photos of this product it show a Footprint. On arrival, the tent did not come with the footprint.

2. The colour is not as shown, the inner tent is indeed Green and Navy, with the outer tent completely Grey. AS should update their description. 3. The straps for attaching the packed tent to the bike are quite cheap looking and not sure they will stand the test of a bike on Montreal roads, never mind the countryside for camping.

You may need an extra strap or two. 4. There is supposed to be ‘Maximized storage options with oversized ceiling pocket’ – this is not in the tent. Again, this much be the description of a different model.

There is only a side pocket. 5. The floor is stitched of the tent, rather than one solid piece, therefore a Footprint is essential, if you don’t want those stitches getting worn out and water coming in.

Pros: 1. The tent is very spacious inside. The fabric seems good quality. 2. The poles are light and because they have bends, they allow much more headroom space. 3. The extra side bit isn’t that secure, but it’s very useful and large to keep things away from rain.

Again though, no footprint for this part is included. 4. Having two doors is a very nice feature for a lighter range tent. 5. 3 person is definitely best for 2. 6. Packed version fits perfectly between bike handlebars.

This is a fantastic tent! The three person tent may be a little tight for three grown men. This tent is well-suited to make two people very comfortable and store a lot of gear while sitting out a long storm.

Being the big brother to the Nallo 3GT this tent has all of the features with improved strength and livability. The additional interior volume is much greater than the specs would suggest as is the quality of materials.

It really does put most other four season tents to shame. For those not familiar with this manufacturer their attached inner tent is a blessing in a storm, as you can set up the tent is a ferocious storm and crawl into a dry environment.

I started using Hilleberg Tents two decades ago, and that is all I’ll use now for winter and shoulder seasons!!.

I have extensive experience with tents and the outdoors in general. My relationship with Hilleberg started in the military in late 90-s when we used the black Keron tents issued by Swedish green berets.

They held up to absolutely everything. After that I have used many different tent by different makers, but for my family of five we settled for the Kaitum 4 gt. I think it strikes the perfect balance of weight, ruggedness, size and function for an active outdoor kind of family that enjoys all seasons.

I Have had the tent now for 1,5 years and have had 0 issues with it. The ability to open both ends sets it apart from for example nallo 4gt, both from a usability standpoint when being 5 in the tent, but also very much in warmer weather as you get totally excellent through-the-tent ventilation when opening both ends.

We never go on longer trips without having tent+kit in the car since it enables detours and unexpected opportunities for us. Easiest 5-star review ever. Fem stjärnor! / Petter D, Gothenburg, Sweden.

My New back-country castle set me back a few sheckles but once I recovered from that initial sting my new Nammatj can’t be beat for great weather protection, spaciousness, and overall practicality. Easy to pitch and comfortable to sleep in.

Overall, the Nammatj stands out for a lot of reasons but foremost it is a truly excellent and roomy tent, so, pick one up, you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic tent I’ve taken it on a number of hikes now from spending a week in it up in the Gammon Ranges to the High Country around Falls Creek and I love very easy to setup even in bad whether. Very stable in high winds considering how light the tent is.

Planning on taking it to the snow in the coming months. I’ll let you know how it performs.

The quality of this tent and the construction far exceeded my expectations. Seems like it will be a bomb proof shelter in the mountains. As far as I can tell, every bit as tough, maybe even tougher than a hilleberg.

I brought the Telos Tr2 Plus along with me for the past month on an unsupported bicycle tour from Colorado to Mississippi. I slept in the tent 24 of the 29 days I was on the road. This was my first time using it so I had my reservations taking an unknown tent with me but as a fan of Sea to Summit and the gear they make, I had the utmost faith.

I had nights that ranged from 17F up to 65F, I always felt that the tent stayed as warm as could be expected. I really liked having the fabric walls on the inner tent in place of the mesh. It offered a bit more privacy on those nights when the tent fly was not needed.

I was a bit nervous that the small vents at the top of the tent would not be sufficient but they seemed to do the trick. The only times I had issue with condensation was through Louisiana, I’m not sure there is a tent in the world that can handle that level of condensation.

I highly recommend the gear loft as well, it gets your clothes for the next day up off the ground and gives them a chance to breath a little bit better. Inside the tent, spacious! I had enough room to spread out and get comfortable all while storing all of my panniers inside the tent.

I found myself not using the lightbar feature however I can certainly see how useful this could be, especially if you are staying in one place for more than 1 night. It is a bit difficult to pull the tent tight for the tension ridge but once you do it a few times you get used to it and appreciate the fact that the tent doesn’t flap around at all.

I used the smaller ground tarp with the tent as I find myself setting it up without a rainfly as much as I can, if you pack the tent as tight as you can the inner tent and the ground fly can be packed together, eliminating the need for te seperate ground tarp bag.

All in all the only issues that I encountered was the color (the tent is not as discretely colored as I would like), and the tent stakes seemed to bend rather easily. I’m still quite impressed with this tent.

From cold weather to hot and humid weather, it preformed wonderfully. It is light, durable, and well designed. It provides ample protection from the elements and I am so looking forward to taking it out into the backcountry this winter to test it even more! The Telos TR2 Plus will be my go to tent from now on, another S2S product knocking it out of the park!.

Overall this tent is fine. It’s easy to set up and take down, the quality of the components is really nice and feels pretty solid. I do like that it’s almost entirely mesh on the body which allows for great views from inside as well as great airflow.

For backpackers I’m sure being able to split the components between packs is a welcome feature. There’s also ample space to stuff your gear, and you can turn the little stuff sacks the tent goes in into more gear pockets.

The instructions for setup are right on the gear itself so you don’t have to worry about losing it or trying to figure it out as you go along. Although as I said, setting it up is super easy as there’s only one pole and the stretch points are color-coded.

I wouldn’t use this as an actual 2-person tent unless you like cuddling with your travel partner, but it’s perfect for one person. I can’t imagine that two sleeping pads would fit together well at the foot of the tent without overlapping or pushing up against the walls of the tent but the really depends on your gear choices.

I wish the poles were just a bit shorter so I could fit them more easily into my motorcycle’s panniers. They only fit in the middle my top case which means I have to sort of tetris other things around them.

Here’s the catch: I have only used this tent twice, but on one such occasion it rained throughout the night. Nothing too heavy, but it was constant. I woke up the next morning to find that the water had soaked through the toggles you use to hold the vestibule doors open and dripped onto me and my sleeping bag.

For a $500 tent that claims to be 3-season, this is unacceptable. This is definitely something that should be reconsidered or redesigned in some way. This tent also does not come with a footprint. The material at the bottom of the tent seems pretty solid though, so it’s not much of a loss and some backpackers may even like the weight reduction.

I think for the price it should still be included but maybe that’s just me. I feel like I could have purchased a truly waterproof 4-season tent for much less. I’m going to manually do some waterproofing and give it a few more tries, but as it stands now the pros don’t outweigh the cons.

As an adventure guide I work with LOTS of equipment – from rock, tree and ice climbing, to caving, mountain biking, wilderness survival – I am constantly looking for the best gear to make my outdoor adventures enjoyable, both for my clients and for myself.

When it comes to overnight and multi-day programming, I have gone through nearly a dozen tents over the past 20 years. Generally my go to brand for personal use has been Big Agnes. Until I tried the Sea to Summit Alto TR2.

The Alto TR2 is easy to set up, works great for star gazing on clear nights, and provides plenty of weather proofing for rain and wind. As a semi-free standing tent, it is easy to move around when trying to find the optimal footprint, and set-up and take down is a breeze.

The double-door vestibules mean I can store things outside of the tent and still keep them dry, or even cook over a stove if it is really pouring out. The light tube is a bonus for diffusing my headlamp light when getting ready for bed, and the unique 3 bag storage system allows me to stow gear in multiple packs or multiple places in my own backpack.

This is a great help when I have to make room in my pack for carrying equipment for a tired client on a long hike. Although I currently have 6 other tents to choose from, I find myself reaching for the Alto TR2 every time.
