20 Best Tents For Dogs (2022 Updated)

This tent is easy to set up (didn’t even need the directions) and super roomy. There is plenty of room to stand up, a benefit in buggy or rainy environments. In its first week of use, it survived a big wind storm, hail, and a lightning storm.

It weathered all three spectacularly – as did the people inside! We stayed dry and protected with no problem. We did purchase some beefier stakes to hold it down. The door zip snags a bit, but once you realize that, it is easy to adapt to.

Highly recommend.

Was looking for a car camping tent, larger and more comfortable than the backpacking tent I’ve had for ages. The DogHouse would sleep 2 very comfortably, you could sleep 4 if you don’t mind being a sardine.

Steep sided walls gives the tent a very spacious feel. I could erect and take down the tent solo, but did struggle a bit the first time I pitched the tent to insert the tent pole into the final grommet.

Also took me a while to figure out how to get the horizontal top pole out of the snap when breaking the tent down. Overall, the tent erected pretty quickly and easily in subsequent uses after the fabric stretched out a bit.

Good ventilation, beefy stakes, seems to be a strong, stable tent, certainly fine for summer camping, probably 3 season. Worst conditions I’ve been in are moderate wind and rain overnight, and the tent shed water no problem.

I’m assuming the fabric has a DWR coating, and it’s unclear how long the waterproofing would last. I did not buy the ridiculously expensive footprint, just used a tarp close to the correct size and that worked fine.

Tent material did catch in the zipper when zipping open or close the door. I wonder if anyone has solved this though.

This tent is spacious, you can stand in it easily. We were 3 people plus a large dog and we slept in a U shape around the dog. Plenty of space. Great for playing cards at night. This is the tent I enjoy the most so far.

Big Agnes has seriously great tents. I can put it up on my own but it’s not super easy, here’s the procedure roughly: – lay down the tent – place one pole, plug it on one side and even the tent sleeve around the pole – place second pole, plug it on one side and fix up the pole sleeve – step inside the tent and lift the roof, then holding the tent up, go plug the other pole in the other circle on the ground – finish setting up the 2nd pole then add the top pole – open the windows and enjoy For 2 people this is easy to build.

We originally purchased this pen to use when traveling with our Corgi. It is so much easier to transport than his metal crate and it sets up in seconds. It is durable enough to keep our pup contained and out of trouble when we are nearby in new places.

One unexpected use that we’ve discovered is the ability to contain enrichment activities that have a tendency to get messy. Our pup finds great joy in shredding paper and cardboard boxes and this pen allows him to do so without making a mess that would be a hassle to clean up.

All we do is grab the pen and dump out the shreds when he’s done! This would work with messy kong or licky mats too! The bottom is easy to wipe down after enrichment time.

I have 3 dogs. 1 boxer-pit and 2 small shih Tzu’s and surprisingly they all fit in here. We have used this for our trip in Mexico. It was a short trip during the weekend and this is very handy. Just purchased it and I was shocked that the material is well made.

Perfect for travelers like me with 3 pups. I love it coz it is large enough to fit 3 dogs in it.

I purchased this tent to use as a crate during travel and when at friends house with my dog. It pops up and folds down super easily and quick. I like that it’s breathable and soft, I don’t have to worry about my dog hurting herself trying to get out of the tent.

I also like that I can see her through the top. This would be perfect to confine puppies or other small animals in one space together.

I originally purchased the Extra Large one for my 19lb cat Rocy, but after just a couple sleep ins, he seemed to lose interest. I thought perhaps it was the chemical smell, so I put Cat Nip inside. It worked only well enough for him to wallow in the Cat Nip, then go about his business.

So now I thought perhaps it was too roomy for him, because I know Cats like to feel cacooned. So I decided to get the smaller one. It SEEMS more his size, but it looks too small to me, and again, he is not interested.

I don’t know what to do to please His Majesty! So I guess I’ll keep the big one and send back the small one.

I had a cardboard scratch house that my cat loved, but it needed to be thrown out after a hairball incident. After reading a ton of reviews, I chose this for her new cat house and did not expect her to love it as much as she did.

In the afternoon, she napped in this instead of on the carpet in the sun in front of the sliding glass doors or in her usual napping spots. At night, she no longer slept with me and would stay in this house the whole time.

She got sick with a hairball again and I had to throw it out shortly after buying it since only the pillow was washable. I bought four other houses, but none of them compared to this. She spent almost all of her time in this house, and has barely gone in the others purchased as replacements.

I have now bought her a second one of these since it’s the clear favorite. If you have a cat or small dog, this is the bed to buy! This will become your cat’s favorite spot.

A great piece of kit! A soft dog crate that fits into a bag the size of a dinner plate. It was exactly what we needed for our dog Elbie to give her somewhere she felt secure in the tent, with the potential to zip her in if we needed to know she was secure.

As with all ‘pop-up’ items such as tents and beach shelters, refolding them to get them back in the bag can be a challenge. However, I had a few practices at home before camping (the pop-up dog tent label has a QR code that takes you to a link of a YouTube video on how to put it up and re-fold).

I then re-folded it on my first attempt when it was time to pack and come home.

I purchased in case I need it for kittens, or other animals I rescue. I opened it immediately to check that it was OK and it popped out into shape. Problem is storing it. I tried to follow instructions and that really poorly made video.

I collapsed it flat, took the opposite corners and tied to spiral it into a circle to put it back into its bag. It was not possible. Each time I tried I ended with a mess. What is worse, its frame is now completely twisted and does not hold any shape.

Wire frame is so flimsy that it is easily bent with a little pressure. After a lot of trying, I wasn’t able to bend the wires into something that would be a tent shape and I gave up. It is a good idea, but poorly designed and poorly made.

It takes a lot of space and one should be able to easily store it when not in use. I think that I will have to throw it away.

This is my second K9 tent, I gave the last one away when my dog passed away. I brought a Henry wag one for my present dog and on the first night using he tore through the mesh. The K9 one is so much stronger I would highly recommend.

It is also cheaper.

Only tested so far, but a perfect size for anything other than a Great Dane. Lady the Lurcher dog went in happily. Bought for hammock camping so she has somewhere to stay when I’m sleeping in the hammock, so it will mostly be under a tarp.

It might struggle in extreme weather, but with a tarp over will be fine. Feels like good enough quality for camping and is small and light enough to not add too much pack weight.

Haven’t used it for camping yet but it will be perfect. It’s adorable and just the right size. It fits my 65 lb pitbull fine. Room for another dog to snuggle in too if your dogs like to snuggle. Got the ruff wear sleeping bag to go with it.

It’s surprise how small the tent can be packed too. It comes in a carry case, but can pack to about the size of shoe. Or easily stuff into the corners of your pack. My dog hasn’t taken to it yet but once we are out on the trail, I think he will like it.

One negative, the tent stakes. They bent the first use. But that’s okay I intended to get some aluminum ones anyways!.

Very cute little pup tent. My dog actually really likes it and I didn’t think she would! I mean, I did have to get in it with her to persuade her but now she loves it! Taking her out this weekend camping so glad she’s got her own little space.

Great quality, easy to put up. Great!.

My cats love it, especially the young ones. They’ve been using/playing with it for about 3 months and have not tired of it yet. Maybe the adult cats have become wary of it because the young cats like to attack it, diving on it and rolling around the living room.

Build quality must be good because they play very rough, and the Tent is holding up well. Definitely worth $10. Minor negative: I couldn’t figure out how to stow the door-flap, so I just cut it off.

I bought this for my 1 yr old cat that weighs about 9-10 lbs. She barely fits in, though she was curious and did try to get in. She uses it now to “hide” her toys, but she just doesn’t fit in, which I had hoped for her to use as a hidey-bed.

I put a small towel on the bottom for cushion but that ended up taking up more space. It’s a fairly good quality, she has scratched at it and hasn’t torn (yet), but I think this is best for small kitties.

In fact, the packaging states for “toy dog breeds”, which are smaller than the average cat.

This is a great tent for a small animal. I got mine for my kitties to play in. If you have big fat cats (NOT judging, just being thorough) you may want to opt for a different tent of a larger size 😉 It has held up well to my kitty pride and they enjoy running in and out of it, napping , hiding, playing with toys in there by themselves.

I really dig this. Very cute and my pet feels safe in a cave retreat. I don’t use the foam cushion so it’s not a huge issue for me. but the cushion does NOT come with a removable cover. The foam cushion is covered with a fur-like fabric.

brown on one side, cream on the other. It is fully sewn and not removeable. The description indicates there is a zippered washable cover for the cushion. This was not in the product box. I also don’t see how there would have been room for this extra removable cover in the snugly fitted box either.

I opened the box and dumped out the contents of the box (so I thought) dowels and the packaged cloth and cousion. I was happily assembling it while my kittens played in the box which was a normal routine in our household.

I went to get the kittens to show them their new teepee and to my horror one of my kittens had the packet in his mouth watching the beads pour out while the other watched. Horrified I scooped them up and placed them in the bathroom so I could clean up.

Seems like none to maybe a little could have been invested which usually isn’t a big deal. according the APCC. I had no idea there would be a gel packet in there. 🙁 so beware my friends. In my option the gel packet is not necessary to begin with.

Makes me sad it would be packaged with a pet product. I hope they like the teepee!.

Absolutely loving this new Teepee! We just received it yesterday, excellent price, setup was a breeze, not too big not to small and great material! My little kitten loves it immediately and played in it for hours on end!.

I’ve had this tent for 13 years. It lasted my son through his scouting years and after all this time there’s not a rip or tear in the fabric. The tent fits a queen size air mattress with room to move around,, plus your gear.

The poles are sturdy and assembly of the tent is pretty easy. I’m happy that I’ve never had to buy another.

This tent was very much as advertised and I had no unpleasant surprises with the product. It is intuitive in the way that the set up process goes and I had no issues with any component. The tent stakes are small and may not work well once rain and mud sets in so having another heavy duty set of stakes would be a good idea.

Four can fit comfortably but six (as advertised) would be a very tight fit. Good overall tent for the price.

Easy setup for first time user, however not easy to windup. Can someone please post video link of setup and winding? As the company itself have no videos.

This rocker-glider looks just as described on Walmart. com. My husband put it together pretty quickly and all parts were included in the box. All holes were drilled correctly, thank heavens! It’s pretty comfortable and glides without without any noise.

I’m happy.

One of the first things to go on any tent (well constructed) are the zippers, depending upon usage. For a tent to be worthwhile and long lasting, a 5000mm coating is needed for rain/snow flies. The fabric for the fly is a bit too thin.

Floors need to be 7000-8000mm. The aluminum pole tents are best for nastily weather, but unfortunately, most outfitter grade tents on the market here include insufficient strength in poles. Handling snow and constant high winds is no joke, and in certain conditions, a cheesy tent can be life threatening.

I bought what I thought was a well designed Alaskan Instinct Outfitter tent, the 8 person model. To my surprise with 2” of snowfall, the center of the tent collapsed. I had to crawl out of the tent and remove the snow.

The tent snapped back up, but the poles got bent a little. It wasn’t hard to fix the bends, but care must be taken. My Alaskan instinct 8 person outfitter tent’s front vestibule is cheesy because the pole for that was far too weak to support a snow-load and there’s no pole from the tent to the front of the vestibule for stability.

The vestibule sags to a point where there’s too much stress on seams and the fabric. For the center of the dome, there’s no good way to install a center-pole for better support in snowy conditions. The zippers are a decent quality, but in high moisture environments, the cloth that the zippers are attached to deteriorated.

I believe that that’s a major problem for ANY tent. Coil zippers are not the best choice for extended camping/hunting trips. The YKK Marine grade tooth type zippers would / should last four to five times longer.

Lastly, rain ‘ snow flies need to vent, but the fly on my Alaskan Instinct 8 Person Outfitter tent had none, which only hastens the tent’s internal deterioration. Other than the above issues, I enjoyed my tent.

I can only hope that Cabella’s technical and purchasing staff will take these things into consideration. Some slight design modifications will make the Alaskan instinct 8 person Outfitter tent a hit!.

This has been a great tent for many years, it was used when I bought it. If one is going to use a wood stove, and before complaining, one should ensure that they are using it properly and as intended.

Most people will know that the safety of everyone in the tent depends on this, but. Burn without roof protector, or without spark arrester, or without floor zipped open, or without damper, at your own risk.

Over the past 7 years I have, as expected, accumulated a few spark holes in the roof protector. That’s why it comes with a small patch kit. A stove pipe collapsing into the tent while in burning is very scary and is most likely the users error.

This will probably occur if a user simply telescopes the pipe out, instead of un-nesting it all and installing it properly. I’ve seen it happen. Setting it up properly, rather than telescoping it out, will not allow it to fall back in on itself, and will also give notably more overall height to the top of the stove pipe/spark arrester, and will have less potential to create holes from sparks.

Other precautions: Magnetic stove pipe temperature gauge, floor covering near the stove door, smoke/CO2 detector, fire extinguisher.

This is the second 12 x 12 Alaknak I’ve owned, and third overall. When I set this one up to seal the seams It appeared that I was 4 ropes and 4 stakes short. The first 12 x 12 I owned allowed for two guy-ropes and two stakes per corner pole.

The pictures on the website show 2 poles and ropes per corner pole, as does their add in their flyer. But when you read the instructions and look at the stake and rope count, it is only allowing for one stake and rope per corner pole.

I called customer service and asked that they send me 4 more stakes and ropes, but was informed that they do not have extra accessories for these tents, and was told that I could return it if not happy.

After that call I went to cabelas website and found the replacement rope kit for the alaknak and extra stakes and went ahead and bought them even though I was just fibbed to by customer service. Not the same Cabelas since bass pro took them over that’s for sure.

Fortunately I don’t have much I need to buy there anymore.
