20 Best Tents For Homeless (2022 Updated)

I just got back from my first 3-night camping trip with this tent. The size is good for one person, allowing room for a 30″x72″ sleeping pad with room on the side for a small rug and some gear. I wanted something that was taller and easier to get in and out of than my backpacking tent.

I like the tall, spacious vestibule with a door flap that cleanly stores out of the way. The vestibule should provide protection from the rain (though it didn’t rain on my trip) while allowing easy access to the tent interior by way of the large door.

I like that I can reach much of the interior space from the vestibule without having to enter the tent to get something. I didn’t like that the tent door zipper constantly snagged on the wide protection flap, but this door, too, had a nice pocket to store the door when fully open.

The small gear loft is tidy and barely takes any headroom. There are small rings at the tent seams to hang small lanterns and such. I was disappointed that 3 walls of the tent are mesh. The Coleman description says, “Roof vents and mesh back wall help with ventilation and airflow inside the tent for ultimate comfort.

” Since they made a point of saying the back wall was mesh, I assumed the side walls were not. They also don’t bother to show a photo of the tent without the rainfly installed, which would have been useful.

I tend to go camping off-season when the temperatures are cooler. The first night I had a constant draft of 40-degree air falling on me. The second night, I closed the roof vents and vestibule door, which helped somewhat.

I wanted to be able to leave the vestibule door open for those middle-of-the-night bathroom breaks. The pole sleeve in the rainfly is too narrow, making it difficult to feed the poles through. The worst part of this tent are the pre-attached poles.

The attached poles make folding/unfolding the tent much more cumbersome. I also would like to be able to dry the tent on a clothesline without two bundles of poles making it more complicated. By permanently attaching the poles to the base of the tent, Coleman created a much larger problem than the one they were trying to solve.

For starters, I have owned a couple of tents before and as a family, we have now settled on a Kodiak Canvas tent. This tent will serve as a spare, for friends or our kids. The set-up was easy and straightforward enough and could be done by 1 person.

It should be mentioned that the fiberglass poles of the main tent are attached to the back 2 corners of the tent, something that makes the entire setup more vulnerable to breakage, in my humble opinion.

The inner tent seems properly ventilated until you put the entire rainfly over. Today is a 90’s day and the tent is unbearably hot but hopefully, it will cool down to acceptable temperatures as night falls.

The rain fly attaches to the inside frame with velcro and hooks easily behind the stakes. What I do not like is that there is only 1 extra stake hole for the back of the tent to pull the rainfly away from the tent.

The sides are only held down on the corners not in the middle of the sides. I have sprayed sealant over all the seams of the tent to ensure the seams won’t let in any rain. Upon doing so, all 4 corners looked like the seams were stretched and would come apart fairly easily.

Inside, the tent is spacious, and as the description mentions, could hold 2 queen air mattresses. The awning in front of the tent which can be zipped up/down, is a definite plus for me as there is no mesh that can leak rain through and is very spacious for a number of items that don’t deserve a space inside the tent.

In conclusion, the tent seems solid enough for occasional camping. I would definitely advise for a tarp underneath to extend its life and an annual sealant application. I believe that it will last probably 2 to 3 years, perhaps even 4, with careful use.

Tent is great for our family of 4. With other tents, the kids would always let bugs in by forgetting to close the door. With this tent, the hinged D door closes easily and velcros shut. The screened area is a useful spot for our gear and dog.

Setup, while more tedious than other tents these days, can still be done by one person in less than half an hour. The red tape used to identify the poles has come off of one though. The auto-rollup windows are a pretty cool feature, as well as the built in lighting.

The room divider is also useful to give some additional privacy with kids running around. It would have been nice if there were more hooks or loft shelves to store gear. The tent can also get pretty stuffy in direct sunlight.

It has rained a couple times and I haven’t seen any issues with water leaking into the tent, other than dampness due to leaving the windows opened. Overall, a great family tent.

was a little skeptical when buying this tent because it was so inexpensive compared to others similar in size. I’m so glad we bought it though! we took it camping for the first time and it was very easy to put up.

my husband and I got it up within 15 minutes. it’s so roomy inside! I like that there’s the options to create the “rooms” or leave it open. we left it open and it had plenty of room for our full size air mattress and two twin size pads for our kids, and suitcases.

the screen patio was great for coolers and shoes. I highly recommend this tent!!!.

If you have a family and you go camping for longer periods of time… For example, more than three or four nights at a time… I highly recommend this tent! The quality is amazing and the features are unique and desirable.

The netted little porch area you could say is awesome and such an asset. The space the stent provides is better than so many others we’ve tried over the years… We can stand up that’s awesome! Obviously, this one is going to take longer and more effort to put up and take down, which is the only reason for the four stars because clearly that part can be frustrating, especially if it rains and having to leave it out for drying etc.

and the space it can take up and the weight. However, saying all that and taking all that into account, this tent is amazing. As I was saying, if you are a big camper and your family goes often and for longer periods of time, it’s absolutely worth it.

I had zero camping experience, my husband remembered a few things from when he was little. We decided it was time to get back out there. After much research, we purchased this tent (thanks for the great sale, ALPHA CAMP!).

Not only was it it a good value, but this is a good tent. As with any 4 person tent out there, it fits 2 people very comfortably, with plenty of room for storage. I camped with a friend once, and we had plenty of room for two separate piles of stuff, while still being so far away from each other sleeping, that we would not be able to reach with our fingertips if we tried.

It feels like it has sooooo much space in there when you crawl in it for the first time. It has nice little pockets for personal items and great vents to keep things cool in the summer. While it has not rained either of the times we took it out, it seems to be holding out well to moisture.

We additionally sealed the seams, just to be on the safe side. The mud mat that comes with the tent is a nice feature also – it is so hard to get dirt out of the tent once it gets in – better to leave your shoes in the mud mat Things got a little heated between me and my husband when we were putting it up for the first time – I chuck it up to inexperience though, as putting it up the second time was no problem at all.

Pulling it down and folding it back into its carrying case was a cinch also. Basically, in good weather, this thing is your best friend and we’ll see about the rest when the time comes. Well worth the money, our family love the tent.

I’ve been looking for a decent tent for a while now and this seemed like a good choice. Our friends have the same one in a 9-person so I figured we get a slightly bigger size. It wasn’t available in Canada but we still wanted it, so invested more for the extra shipping, taxes and duties across the border during covid times.

Purchased in spring and used it for our first camping trip in July. We sprayed a waterproofing sealant before the trip as we normally do. First night camping, it rained. There was water inside the tent only around the 2 pockets.

We had chargers in the pockets and that was a big mistake because the water was dripping from the pockets. After we came back, I emailed Core with this issue asking what we can do to correct this. No answer and it’s been 11 days and counting.

So disappointing as I was expecting better quality and lack of customer service. I’m kicking myself for spending the extra time and money to bring it to Canada. Should’ve gone with Eureka.

I took this tent out for the first time last month. It was easy to set to and extremely spacious. The issue can in during the second night when there was a light rain all night. I woke up to find there were large pools of water under each window screen.

I assumed it was a manufacturing defect so I contacted Core’s warranty support, only to be told their tents aren’t designed for “inclement weather”. I find that completely ridiculous. A tent that can’t hold up to a bit of rain is utterly worthless.

Tldr: Don’t by a Core tent if you plan to use it outdoors.

This tent is awesome. It literally goes up in just about 2 minutes with minimal effort. The rain fly is very easy to put on as well. On the inside there is TONS of space. I really like the vents on both ends of the tent.

The fact that the vents span the entire width of the tent really lets in a good amount of breeze. I like the fact that there are two doors. While we didn’t use the smaller door to come and go, we did run our extension cord through it instead of snaking it around to the front.

I didn’t think we would use the dividers but we did and ended up really liking them. We used two CORE tent lights inside and they worked great, especially the “night light mode”. I had to watch a video on breaking down the tent but after doing it twice, it is also really easy.

Our last tent was a CORE brand and we loved it but it wasn’t an instant tent. This tent is bigger and doesn’t break down as small as our old tent but it’s still worth it. Overall, this tent well worth the money.

Bought this from REI for our family of four as a car camping option (because toddlers take a ton of extra gear space, and I don’t want to store gear in the vestibule with desert spiders/snakes and an exploring toddler).

Decided to do a test run at a local park that allowed overnight camping – mostly desert conditions next to a reservoir. Ground was dry and hard (typical July). Wind was 15-25 mph, so I knew I needed the rain fly to keep the wind off us.

This meant everything needed to be well staked-down. Of the 10 stakes provided (ironically, Kelty has branded them ‘Nobendium’), 8 immediately bent to the point they were unusable after just that one attempt hammering them in (yes I know how to use a hammer – the stakes are just cheap).

I ended up driving 20 minutes back home and getting a spare set of beefier stakes from another tent. If you’re going to deal with the weight of a 6-person tent, buy some 3/8-inch steel/aluminum stakes.

You can pound on them all day and they won’t bend. But, once the stakes were in, everything held really well. Minimal flapping for such a high profile, and generously sized to accommodate my 6’0” height.

I’d buy it again, but the stakes were silly.

I bought the Kelty Wireless 4 person tent for car camping with my 2 year old daughter. We took it out on mother’s day weekend. One big reason I bought this tent is the ease of setting up the tent. As advertised pitching the tent was very easy for the first time.

I did it mostly on my own, I did have help due to rain coming in. Truly was able to test this tent to the fullest. The weather was rainy and very wet. The tent did not leak and felt very secure. This was my daughter’s first camping trip, she loved this tent.

To make her comfortable I put a queen size air mattress in the tent. There was plenty of room to move around and put our bags in the tent. The vents on the rain fly came in handy to get some extra airflow.

The tent construction is sturdy and well done. The poles are good quality. I would highly recommend this tent to others.

We purchased this tent in August 2020. We love the room, the ease of putting it up, and the big windows. We had an issue with the rain fly coming Unclipped and Core replaced that. However since then we have had several other issues.

We used the tent 1x in 2020. We have now had it out four times this year. The issues we have had (and I have emailed core five times across 6 weeks with no response and now the warranty is expired): rain leaked in through the windows.

We had puddles below most of the side windows. There is a hole in the floor (we use a core footprint), there are also two small holes in the tent itself, one of the clips came unsewn from the seam, so that clip can no longer be used.

This tent is used by just my husband and myself. We camp for just a few nights at a time. I expected better service and quality.

First off – This was a good tent. until I used it for the fourth time. My mom, sister and I go on an annual glamping trip and we have used this tent the last three years. Other then that, I have only used it for one other camping trip.

So a total of 4 uses over 3 years. During the 4th use a few weeks ago, the zipper on the larger T-style door broke. It wasn’t something simple like the zipper fabric detaching from the tent material, which I would have been able to sew, but instead the zipper teeth detached from the zipper material.

This made the largest door completely useless as we had to use duct tape to seal it shut to keep bugs out. For the remaining 5 days of our trip, we had to use the smaller D-style door which is on the back side of the tent.

This was extremely inconvenient and somewhat difficult, especially for my 70 year old mom. It isn’t a door that can be very well operated with a single hand. To carry anything into the tent, we had to set whatever we were carrying down outside the door, unzip the door, pick our stuff back up (now it’s dirty on the bottom), go inside and set the now dirty stuff inside the tent then use both hands to rezip the door.

Part of the reason it is a 2-handed door is because the zipper CONSTANTLY gets the tent material stuck in it. So. the moral of the story is that I now have a large, somewhat expensive tent with only one small functioning door that has issues of getting stuck and a questionable lifespan.

And don’t forget, this is after only FOUR USES! Regardless of how long ago I bought this tent, to care for it meticulously and only get four uses out of it is ridiculous.

Perfect solution to flaunt sustainability. tossing the original k-cup (plastic) into landfills by the millions is senseless. They actually should make selling the plastic cups illegal. This Ekobrew is the answer.

Quick and convenient. Eliminates a nasty blemish on Keurig. Lets get this right my Keurig single cup makes a great cup of coffee, but it can still do that without leaving a huge impact on the environment.

Now i can make great coffee and feel better about it. The Ekobrew design does a great job and washes out quickly to get ready for the next cup.

I purchased this product after reading i could use my “own” coffee. well tried peets , maxwellhouse and folgers. all great if you like a mouthful of coffee grinds. so for me it went right in garbage.

I did not think I would find these for my older KTM. Thought I could modify them if close enough BUT are a perfect fit! OEM quality, highly recommend!

Yeah its pretty good, not great. I used it on a long weekend backpack in the White River National Forest at 11K. The doors are great – double zippered with one side having a vestibule to put shoes, bottles, etc makes it easy to get in and out, and to keep out bugs.

Has a good ventilation system and didn’t overheat during a warm midday sun. Simple to set up. What’s not good: it gets wet easily. There’s mesh at the bottom of the tent that easily seeps. We had two (very) light rains and we were damp, if not wet, and this was first use.

A storm could be really bad. I know its 3 season, but it keeps no heat at all – the nights didn’t go below 40 yet we were still chilled (in July). One of the doors has a better system to pull back the opened material, so a lot easier to use that as an exit/entrance.

Could also use better pockets, really just has sleeves. Not a complaint but reminder – 3 person tent means 2 comfortably, 3 like sardines. I mean, I shouldn’t complain but you aren’t getting a high end product here, the price reflects that.

Good for people like me – frugal, once-a-season backpackers.

I wish I could give this tent a higher rating! it came quickly, had great reviews and the price was great. I didn’t get any tent set up instructions, but was able to figure out how to set it up generally (though struggled with how to best use the ropes).

Took it backpacking and the tent case ripped apart as we took the tent out of the package (had taken it out once before to practice setting up). we were able to duct tape it together to get us back, but we’ll need to figure out a different case for it next time! Overall though, sizing was great for two people and it was relatively easy to set up without directions.

This is a very nice and spacious tent. It sets up in just a few minutes and is just as easy to take down once you learn how to fold the material towards the center. It kind of opens and closes like an umbrella, but fits easily into the bag once you get the hang of it.

We did it with two people which makes it easier but I think it could be done with one as well. We have a queen size Aerobed which fits easily in this tent with plenty of room for extra glamping as we also carry a propane heater, solar generator and laptop with external speakers for watching movies and shows.

It rained pretty hard on us the first night as well as snow and hail. The tent did not leak at all. What I did not like and why I gave this tent only three stars is the front door of the tent (there are two, the others on the side) when unzipping sort of hits a point in the upper left corner where the tension of the pole makes it a little rough to unzip in that spot.

The way the tent is designed with the straighter walls I guess it cannot be helped. Also on our second night the zipper on said door got stuck on the tent flap material and required pliers to pull the zipper through.

I had to run the zipper over that spot a few times to get the tines lined up and working again although for a moment I was thinking this thing is going back for a refund. The side door came in very handy for getting our dog (70 lbs) into her crate at night, so the second side door came in very handy.

The other thing I found out when folding up the tent was the thin material of the flooring. Though we checked for sticks and rocks I guess we did not find them all and the bottom of the tent had an area where a rock had rubbed almost all of the way through the bottom of the tent, very disappointing.

I fixed the abrasion with some Gear Tape and am willing to live with it as a lot of our equipment and camp clothing has patches from tears and embers. I would prefer a stronger layer of material for the floor of the tent but also realize that would increase weight and cost.

So for now we are happy with the tent at this price point and the ease of set up and take down. We leave again for three days starting tomorrow so I may change my rating and review after that. I think we will be satisfied with this tent as long as zippers getting stuck in the tent material is not a recurring problem.

2021 – I’m on my 5th tent purchase and review! This is the Best Tent so far! I’m at a stage where the kids are grown and I want a smaller tent I can put up myself and stand up in. I’ve bought Colem_n tents for decades, but their current products are cheaply made and the designs aren’t great! I tried a C_re tent, which was a great design, but rainfly fabric was see-through thin.

No way it’s keeping rain out! This Members Mark is my 5th tent! I am In Like-Like with it!!! It was easy for 2 people to set up (I had my daughter help me on the 1st set up), and think I can do it myself next time.

It goes up in a few minutes! The fabric feels like tent canvas on the outside, lightly rubbery coated on the inside. The rainfly doesn’t touch the tent! Windows on three sides plus the roof zips open for ventilation or closed for black out – all with screening.

The ceiling design is awesome!!! If you unzip the windows, instead of tying the flaps, there are pouches to tuck the rolled flaps into. Hard to explain, but a Great design! The only design flaw is the door’s 2 zipper design.

One zipper goes across the bottom left to right, and another zipper goes from top left to bottom right along the curve. I like to zip my tent up at the top to guarantee no unwanted critters can get in.

Plus, I lock my tent with little luggage locks and that’s easier done at eye level. This tent has So Many Great Features It’s a keeper! The description says this tent is 68″ tall, but it’s taller than that.

My daughter is 5’7″ and based on how much room was above her head I’d say it’s closer to 6′ at it tallest on the inside. The tent has an upside-down V shape, like a house, so the tallest height runs across the tent (unlike dome tents that are their tallest height only in the center).

The rainfly is another 3″ above that.

This tent is fantastic! It is so easy to pop up and just as easy to put away. You only need yourself to put this tent up and take it down. My friends were amazed and how easily and quickly I had my camp site cleaned up.

This was my first time using the tent and Mother Nature decided to send a little rain down. Thankfully this tent comes with a rain fly. which works very well. Not a single drop of water made it inside the tent.

It also seemed to dry pretty fast, which is a bonus in my book.

I’ve owned this tent going on 5 years now. It isn’t perfect, but I love it. If you are 8 months pregnant and your spouse disappears to the bathroom when you arrive at your campsite, you can set it up yourself before they come back! Once you have kids, you can still set it up yourself while your spouse mysteriously vanishes into thin air and then stash your tiny humans inside for containment! When you are so ready to go home but your spouse is as hard to find as Bigfoot, you can tear it down by yourself! When you finally point out that your spouse is somehow always missing at key tent moments, he can set up tear down the tent himself without even reading the directions (but seriously, it is sooo easy).

Win, win, win. The meh’s: The door zipper isn’t awesome and snags really easily which is annoying, but it hasn’t broken. Its not as nice a tent as my backpacking tents, but that’s not really the point here.

I’ve never had it out in the rain.

As with many reviews here, the tent’s zipper sucks! It snags easily, so my kids always have hard time open/ close by themself. Other than that, the tent is great: nice air flow, good ventilation, no condensation like other tents I’ve tried.

It’s spacious for family of 4. It’s bigger than other instant tents on the market. My first purchase also came with torn seam bag. We love the tent so much that we’d gave it the second try, hopefully with better zipper.

Second purchase had the same issue with zipper, so it’s not worth the premium price when my kids can’t open by themself like other cheaper tents.

Things got off to a pretty shaky start. One of the clips that the rainfly snaps into was busted, straight out of the package. Then once I got it up, the door zipper had been jammed VERY tightly into the tent fabric and took 5 minutes of coaxing to get it unstuck.

“Self healing” or not, it was just never going to work right again. I managed to make the clip work enough to survive a gentle rainshower that night, but might have been in a bind if things had truly gotten windy.

The Good: Easy up, including the rainfly. I managed to do the whole thing by myself in about 5 minutes, excluding the time it took to rectify broken parts. It’s spacious and very tall inside. I’m 6’3″ and could stand straight up without a problem.

The fly has generous coverage and the floor felt sturdy. The Bad: Quality control was awful. It’s VERY heavy and VERY long. It took quite a bit of finessing to make it (just barely) fit inside my trunk.

I wouldn’t want to carry it further than the 50 yards to my campsite. It was quite a challenge to make it fit back in the bag. Ultimately, I returned it and I’m going to buy something different.

The oztent RV is NOT waterproof!! We purchased this tent to travel australia this year thinking we were doing the right thing purchasing a premium tent when instead we should’ve purchased something from Kmart.

Unfortunately for the first 6 weeks of our trip (Melbourne to Rockhampton) it just rained everyday. We dreaded sleeping each night because the corners pooled with water and the middle seam dripped water on us all night making the bedding and mattress wet (which never dried out between campsites).

Oztent very kindly replaced the tent thinking that it mustn’t have been waterproofed at the factory however the same thing occurred with tent number two. Oztent then proceeded to advise us to purchase a fly, a floor mesh mat and a waterproof bag.

Together these cost $500+. I can happily say that after purchasing these extras (particularly the fly) the tent is waterproof. However it is seriously disappointing that the tent is advertised as waterproof although it’s not without at least purchasing the fly.

Keep this in mind when purchasing your oztent!! The fly also adds an extra 7 guy ropes and 2 poles to the setup so the whole ‘30 second’ thing goes out the window. This review is nothing against BCF.

These RV tents are quickest and easiest tents to set up and take down The only thing faster to set would be a throw down tent However a throw down usually involves wrestling match to fold up. Besides you can’t stand up in a tube tent; I like to stand up to put my pants on and not have to slide and snake my way into my pants.

Being a Solo camper I went for the RV3 as it allows you to store food and excess gear inside the tent couples might want to consider the RV4 or RV5. Remember when selecting the tent size for needs that all manufactures basically state how many people you can inside during an emergency so remember to go for a size that caters to at least one person more than you intend to camp inside.

Back to the RV3 the biggest draw back to this tent is it’s packed up length. You will probably going to need a roof rack which is an added cost to the tent which isn’t the cheapest. In my case I picked up a cheap roof rack tray by Rough Country from Auto Barn for $250.

I took my New Tent for test down to the hills behind Tamworth. Due to roadworks I arrived just on dusk. So I was incredibly thankful the speed I could put this tent up. Had I had my old dome tent I would have had to try and sleep in the car.

there is no fighting to threat poles through the sides or fighting to get and keep tent poles into their base plates. the longest part of setting up camp was inflating the double high air mattress. Just after dark it belted down with rain for most of the night and the next morning.

Which didn’t bother me as I was snug as bug in my own portable log cabin well that’s what this tent felt like to me. The only disappointment was that I noticed one of the struts inside the tent was slightly bent, whether it was like this or I have bent it from tiring it down too hard I don’t know but it hasn’t effected how study this tent is in rough weather.

My only regret is that I didn’t take the plunge years ago and get one of these tents sooner. Unless you’re back packing or a family with small kids I wouldn’t waste my time with swags or throw downs or dome tents.

I’ve wasted thousands on different tents over the years. Bite the bullet save the pennies and get it right the first time. You get a sturdy long lasting tent that will last you years That is hassle free to set up and take down.

First night in the tent we had a six-hour torrential deluge, hardest rains I’ve ever experienced, also high winds, and the tent stayed bone dry, sturdy, and safe. So, it is watertight. Instant setup really means two minutes, then staking.

Incredibly roomy and screen porch fits two folding chairs very comfortably. Do not underestimate the hanging screen storage – it holds lots, phones, glasses, wallets, etc. I highly recommend this tent without reservations.

It is a mystery to me how such a great piece of camping equipment can be bought for such a reasonable price.

This tent is everything advertised. It’s first life was as a camping tent for a Scoutmaster and his boys, used occasionally for a few years. When his boys grew up he quit, and passed the tent on to his sister, my friend.

I have been homeless for several years, but working, and this tent has lasted. with minor repairs due to contents shifting during flooding and dislodging poles. through 4 hurricanes and 2 tropical storms including Harvey and Imelda.

This tent is stable and takes both wind and water very well, although I supplemented the rainfly with an overhead tarp, and has been my shelter for close to 5 years. It has been difficult but am looking at the good possibility of a new job and if I still cannot afford shelter immediately I plan to purchase this same tent to faithfully take me through until I can afford more conventional housing!.

This was the first “new” Coleman tent my wife and I bought for ourselves. Prior to this one, we had hand me down Colemans from our family or cheaper off brand tents. We initially loved the tent even with the higher than most price tag.

After about our third or fourth camping trip the plastic plates that hold the light and switch in place broke. Also we started noticing water would leak through the seems where the floor and side walls meet (about 6 inches from the ground) during mild to heavy rainfall.

After a few more years we decided to try out another brand. After a few seasons with a Coleman competitor we reverted back to our Coleman tent. I spent roughly $30 on replacement plates, new elastic string for one of the tent poles and a few cans of waterproofing spray.

We are now happy with our tent again, we just feel these minor issues could have been addressed and corrected by Coleman prior to mass producing, as I have seen others with the same issues. I definitely do not think the Coleman Brand I was brought up on as a child is as strong and durable today, but that seems true for most of the top outdoor companies from decades ago.

If you are looking to purchase this tent be sure to waterproof it ahead of time and be VERY gentle with the small plastic plates holding on the fan/light and switch.

I may have posted a prior review, but now after owning this tent for three years, we just continue to be amazed at how much we love it. Coleman seemed to think through everything to make it user-friendly.

My wife and I consistently set this tent up in less than 15 minutes. We love the full height throughout the tent – much better than domed tents. We never go camping with it without multiple people commenting to us on how nice a tent it is.

I have often gotten questions regarding how it would stand up in a wind and rain storm, and up until this last weekend, could never say that it had been really tested. This past weekend we were in a prolonged high winds and heavy rain storm.

We literally had almost two inches of water on one side of the tent backed up and flowing under it. The walls of the tent would move in and out with the wind. The rain was so heavy that my wife and I had to raise our voices when right next to each other to be heard.

NO LEAKS! Not even a drop. And that is after three years of use. I hope Coleman continues to offer this tent because in a heart beat I would buy it again.

We took this tent for camping recently. For 4 of us, it was very spacious and super easy to pitch the tent up; very easy to take down. I wound recommend for anyone looking for easy tent set up. Why 4 stars only? 1) one of the top pole was spontaneously would not stay locked in extension, spontaneously unlocking itself.

Pin-lock appears to be functional at first, then it unlocks itself. Rest of the poles and locks (both top and bottom) were fine. Tent itself held up fine with rain cover secured to ground for additional reinforcement and enough friction to keep the pole collapse all the way.

Not so fun when you had to wake up middle of the night to fix the pole. 2) wished the windows can be open up or to side instead of down for better air flow while sleeping in dry-hot area camping (minor issue, most tent does same) 3) one of side the tent (opposite to entrance side) has little to no air flow.

there is a very small vent, but difficult to keep it open to be functional. (also minor issue) 4) wish there are mesh pockets around the tent to store and easy access small items (no complaints, just wish list) Other than one of the poles unlocks spontaneously I like this tent so much that I would like to get replacement, unfortunately none in stock, Walmart offered refund only.

I’ll be waiting for restock.

I am an avid camper. I have had my fair share of tents and was excited for this instant rise tent. The packaging was well put together and the back has a nice flare of an extended zipper. Getting the tent out and started to lay it out I notice one of the pole was twisted.

It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to twist it back into place and started to push the poles into their lock places. On 2 of the poles it was quite difficult to get the pole to lock into place.

Once I got my sons help we got the tent up. I look at key aspects. Material is thin and breathable but could easily tear if a storm came through, the poles aren’t as thick at a previous pre attached pole tent I have which could be a bad thing with heavy winds.

Set up was not as easy as other instant rise tents I have had. It is not stable it needs the rain fly to be stabilized which ruins being able to star gaze or get decent wind flow. It’s a big tent with no stability without the rain fly.

I returned this within the hour of setting up and taking down. With weather being unpredictable a tent should be able to stand without a rain fly and this tent definitely did not, with a slight breeze it started to collapse.

I see why ozark discontinued this model and updated it with more poles and stability. Don’t waste your money on this tent get the updated version with 6 poles not 4.

SO easy to set up and take down. We always pre-treat for weather/water resistance so we did spray the seams and such. This tent is amazing, however it does hold condensation. Middle of summer in Virginia mountains and the nights were cool enough to have condensation collecting inside on the walls with the top vents open.

Other than that it was great. It did rain one day/night out of the 4 days of camping and there was no water leaking into the tent. does fit 2 queen sized air mattresses, HOWEVER they are right next to each other with no room for moving around, except for about 1.

5 feet of room from the front of the cabin. We only plan on using for one queen bed normally, but had friends come for a night and it was a tight fit. Highly recommend this tent, simply for the easy set up and how well it held up in the rain.

**Does block out the sun, but ALSO retains heat like crazy. **Recommend getting better stakes as the ones it comes with are easily bendable and aren’t super secure.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ve used this tent in spring, summer, and fall of 2021 on the Canadian Shield (mostly BWCAW) for about 8 total weeks of use. The tent saw extreme rain, freezing cold, and intense heat.

I have owned several tents of similar size over the past 30+ years, so this is not my first rodeo. Here are my observations: 1. This is truly an ultralight tent–it requires a little bit of white-gloving, so to speak, to prevent damage.

I replaced a much heavier 3-person tent with the Tungsten UL 3P, so I was a bit surprised at how easily the materials of this tent can be damaged from innocuous things like swatting a mosquito against the inner wall (don’t do it!).

It caused the mesh wall to warp badly, but fortunately no holes (yet). The materials are good quality, but not made for any sort of abuse, period. 2. Tent has decent ventilation but still suffers from condensation issues.

On a typical cool night (temps in 30s – 40s), I found it was impossible to prevent water condensation that forms on the poles and top panels, sometimes so bad that it drips on you while you are sleeping, leading me to believe the tent wasn’t waterproof until I carefully examined it and realized it is strictly condensate, not leakage.

I’ve tried leaving the doors open and even not using the fly, but still have had issues with condensate. In one extreme situation, I pitched the tent on a campsite that later flooded about 2″ deep after two days of non-stop monsoon-like rain in the BWCAW.

I had standing water in the tent, ~80% due to condensation dripping back in the tent and through the mesh walls–~20% due to splashing through the lower mesh walls (floor did not leak at all, amazingly).

So much water came in that I had to bail the tent with a cooking pot after day two. Fortunately my pad was thick enough to keep me and my down quilt above water. To be fair, this wasn’t so much a design issue, instead it was the ~10″ of rain that fell over 48 hours, along with 40 mph winds and plenty of lightning and thunder.

I hope to never experience this situation again, but the tent held up reasonably well–no leaks or damages in the materials. It simply wasn’t designed for this type of abuse–frankly, few if any tents are.

That said, my old tent, of much heavier nylons, withstood storms like this much better than this tent does–of course, it weighed more than double what this tent weighs. 3. Very easy to set up and take down.

I can thoroughly stake and guy the tent+fly in less than 5 minutes if I hustle. That’s half the time my old tent required to set up. A nice bonus when the black clouds are bearing down on you in the middle of the wilderness.

4. For its weight, the floor space is generous, makes it easy to take a lot of gear/clothes/etc in the tent without interfering with the sleeping space for two people. Never tried fitting three in the tent–I’m sure it is doable, but would be extremely cramped and no additional gear would fit.

For a 3P, this tent has more space than most. 5. Excellent vestibule design–one is larger than the other side, and both sides are steep walls, which means you can fit multiple big and tall packs easily.

A huge improvement from my old tent! That said, the steep walls contribute extra space but make zipping the fly doors shut quite a pain, as you have to lean way out of the tent to do so. This means 100s of mosquitos, black flies, no see-ums, and other insects can easily get in if you crash at dusk like I usually do.

6. The flaws. there are a few, mainly having to due with rain/condensation resistance. To save weight, the mesh goes almost all the way to the floor–this allows rain to splash off the ground from outside the fly right into the mesh.

Not an issue for a quick storm, but a major issue for prolonged rain, where you will get a lot of water coming through. If it wasn’t for the large floor space that gives room to move things away from the edges, this would be a deal-breaker for me (see above).

I have a hard time faulting the tent for this, as it was a clear weight-saving decision in the design and one that I should have been more aware of when I purchased. If you are going to camp in extreme rain situations, this is not the right tent, period.

For all other 3-season conditions, including light-to-moderate rain, it is a great choice. 7. My lower back loves this tent. Incredibly light for its size! Carrying 50+ LB packs across many miles of portages makes the trade-offs for the UL design (see above) fully worth it.

8. This tent is not for freezing cold nights. Should be obvious, but if you are the type that easily gets cold at night, consider a heavier tent model. If you sleep warm like I do, this tent is tolerable in 20-30 degree F conditions.

Where the tent really shines is 90+ degree F weather–it breathes really well and dissipates heat better than any other I’ve used. 9. I recommend this tent for non-buggy sites in all but the heaviest of rain situations.

It is versatile, well thought out, quick to deploy, truly lightweight, has excellent vestibules, and is made from completely waterproof materials. Just consider yourself warned about the effects of heavy rain storms and thick clouds of biting insects.

Every tent is nothing but a bunch of trade-offs, so don’t expect the world from something that only weighs a little over 3 LBs. If you know you will be in extreme conditions, this is probably not the tent for you.

I look forward to another year of use in 2022 and at that same time, I do wonder how long the materials will last. My previous primary nylon tent lasted me 22 years, this one will thrill me if I get 5+, but I require the lower weight.

So far, mission accomplished!.

IšverstiShow in original languageStill new to this tent, but it performed well on the first two outings. It is very light. Excellent room for two and still within a reasonable backpacking weight budget.

I purchased the footprint and recommend you do too. We split up with 42oz for the body and fly and 34. 5oz for the poles, footprint, stakes, guy cord and repair kit. Fly pitches tightly if you stake out the side between the doors.

The vents are a nice feature however I deducted one star because the reinforcement patch on one of them had unraveling stitches on the second setup. I will send it in for warranty repair, which I’m sure Marmot will support, but if the repair lead time is long I may fix this myself.

The green strikes me as an odd color – almost faded in the pictures, but in the field it’s a pleasant color that blends in well with surroundings without being impossible to see. The fly has bits of reflective material that serve well to guide you back from a late-night bio break.

Zippers are fine gauge and somewhat fiddly but I had no problem when the tent is pitched tautly. Setup is quite easy, although I’d strongly prefer if the two main poles were permanently joined at the intersection.

The pole clips seem functional but I expect they would break if I accidentally stepped on one I have not yet had it out in the rain, but with the fly pitched fully taut I see no reason to get wet inside.

The seam sealing appears to be good quality. It has ample ventilation with the full mesh tent body.

IšverstiShow in original languageI bought this tent to replace a Marmot Earlylight 2, which I was very happy with but unfortunately, after 8 years both windows failed on the fly and that meant replacing the entire tent.

I wish Marmot sold a replacement fly as the rest of the tent remains in perfect condition. Pros-I got it for a very good price and it comes with the footprint. While it could fit 2 people, it was the perfect size for me and my gear.

There are two doors, each with it’s own vestibule. Easy setup with color matched tabs and poles. It held up well in heavy wind. Cons-the footprint does not match the tent exactly, as it did on my Earlylight.

During heavy rain the first night some rain seeped between the footprint and tent body and came through into the tent. I made some adjustments, mainly looping the body attachment under the footprint and first inserting the poles into the footprint then body and tightening everything up.

However, as the rain stopped for good I am not certain it was solved. It is a bit heavy for a long backpacking trip but still lighter than most tents at the same price point. I set it up when first received and didn’t notice the footprint fit as an issue at the time.

If I had, I would have returned it.
