20 Best Tents For Rain (2022 Updated)

My family got the Coleman Sundown 6- Person Dome Tent to use when I was young to go camping which we really enjoyed doing as a family most weekends every summer before my parents got a divorce. My father kept some of the camping equipment that was still in good condition at the family home.

So just a few years later, when me and my now husband, boyfriend at the time, had our daughter, we absolutely wanted to show her the simplicity and enjoyment you can have away from electronics. She wanted to help with everything!!! The Coleman Sundown 6- Person Dome Tent is fairly easy and quick to set up.

It DEFINITELY helps keep you dry as we learned one night when while my husband was trying to cook over the tripod, it started to pour rain instantly. Without thinking about the rest of the food, we ran into the tent thinking that it should stop pretty quickly.

Instead, within 1 min of us going into the tent to get dry, we hear noises from right outside the tent and a large group of about 30 raccoons came to take EVERY SINGLE ITEM OF FOOD WE BROUGHT!!! They were tag teaming by sending 1 raccoon in to grab a whole large box of donuts and run out.

Then another would come running right up, dig in the grocery bag and grab a whole bag of bagels, next one- cream cheese, next one- chips, then came over to our cooler that was right outside the tent to get our bottles of water etc.

All my husband, daughter and myself could do is stand there and laugh as we watched them out the window of the tent. We laughed all night UNTIL our daughter had to use the restroom and we were still surrounded by atleast 30 sets of raccoon eyes.

Let’s just say we NEVER visited that camp site again. Then a few years later the movers we hired somehow lost that wonderful memory maker of 2 generations just about 😢 But I would absolutely recommend that Coleman Sundown 6- Person Dome Tent to all the beginner campers or all the experienced campers who still love camping the traditional way.

Great tent. I set it up in my backyard, to give it a trial run (and seam seal) before taking it out camping. There are pros and cons. Pros: Carry bag – the tent comes neatly packed in a carry bag, with tent, poles, rain fly, ground stakes, door mat, and instructions.

Setup – Easy. Set up by myself, with rain fly, in under 15 minutes. Didn’t have to look at the directions. Only suggestion would be to put the word “front” somewhere on the rain fly to indicate which way it goes.

However, a quick glance at the packaging will tell you. Materials – the tent material seems to be of good quality, and should hold up well when taken care of. The zippers are not heavy duty, but i see no issues with them.

The floor is heavy duty tarp material. Screens – the tent has large screen panels on the “ceiling”, which makes for a great view when the rain fly is not on. There is an additional window, and screen on the door for extra viewing and airflow.

Floor Vent – there is a vent near the rear of the tent, which allows for additional airflow. Cord access – there is a small zippered panel in the front corner, that let’s you run an extension cord into the tent.

Other “Pros”: I got the Navy/Grey tent, and the colors are cool. Got some compliments from the neighbors on it. I like that the rain fly comes with the guy lines already attached. The interior gear pockets are fine, good for holding your phone.

Wouldn’t stuff them with anything heavy. There is a little “ring” at the center of the ceiling, to hang a small light. While you could technically fit 2 queen air mattresses, I would not. It leaves no floor space for gear.

I will put in one mattress, and leave the other half of the tent for my kids Pack n’ Play, and gear. It will fit the 3 of us comfortably. However, unless you intend to get cozy, I wouldn’t advise this for 4 adults (but it could be done).

Cons: Stakes – the stakes are just ok. they are the generic skinny steel ones. I would recommend spending an extra $10 bucks and buy some good ones. Footprint – the tent doesn’t come with a footprint, though I imagine this helps keep the cost so low.

Not a big deal, I use a tarp anyways. Door Screen – the upper half of the door can be unzipped to reveal the screen window. I really would have liked if the entire door could be screen, not just the top half.

I also purchased some Coleman Seam Sealer, and sealed all the seams inside the tent, and the rain fly. Some of the seams are taped, but it’s just good practice to spend the time to do this, no matter what brand/cost/etc tent you have.

It saves headache down the road. Overall, I’m very pleased with the tent, and the cost. It will work well for short camping trips with a small family, couple, or individual.

The bag in which the tent and it’s related rods or pins come, is nicely packed inside. Instruction manual is stitched with the bag so it was helpful in windy weather not to worry about it being flown away.

The tent was big enough for a family of three and a dog and had ample space left for keeping something overnight inside that we didn’t want to left it in open. Installation as well as dismantling was really easy.

It comes with small foot mat sort of thing. The flooring is already stitched in it in case someone is worried about keeping extra tarp. Extra tarp is not needed with it. The windows are given that can be opened or closed and few pouches stitched inside to keep your bottle or something in it.

Overall, it was a good experience in camping using this tent.

I bought this tent years ago from Canadian tire as a back up tent Incase my anything happened to my main tent while I was in the middle of nowhere. This weekend was finally the Coleman Sundomes time to shine.

Set up was very easy with clear instructions, tent quality actually wasn’t the most shocking thing considering its price. I’m not sure if it’s a manufacturing defect on my tent in particular, but you have to stretch the door when zipping up.

Due to the poor quality plastic zipper teeth BOTH of my zippers became derailed in the first and second time opening and the door. If I didn’t have such a negative experience with this tent, leaving me with an open door I would have given it a higher rating for doing the trick on a budget.

I bought this same model 20 years ago and it has served me very well. But with age, the bathtub has developed small leaks and the zippers are wearing out. So I was glad to see it was still available and at such a good price.

But it’s not quite the same tent and all the changes are neutral or downgrades. First, some MBA thought they could save a couple pennys by making the stuff sack the exact size of the tent when it has been folded perfectly by the robots in the factor.

I use the common method of folding the tent in thirds lengthwise and folding the fly in quarters, then rolling it all up with the poles. It will take you 20 min. to get this arrangement stuffed in the stuff sack.

When I add a propylene footprint, forget it. I’ll have to try to find a replacement stuff sack with the right dimensions or modify the one that came with. I’ll admit that it was a bit of a challenge to reach out to far fly stake to get the zipper on the old tent.

But now you need to fold yourself in half to get at the fly zipper that is down by your feet. The poles used to seat in plastic cups. They were kind of bulky when you tried to roll up the tent. The new one uses grommets that fix this problem, but you can’t remove the poles from one side of the tent.

You have to pull the pole out of the grommet on one side and then run around to the other side of the tent to free the other end of the pole. I just used this tent in Quetico Provincial Park for 8 nights.

It kept me dry and stood up to some pretty good winds. I also think it’s a great price.

Have used this Zephyr 1 tent twice now, with the last outing including some rain during the night. The quality of the construction looks great. Stuff into a relatively small sack, the weight is OK, not on the lighter end of the range.

At this point, only notice two issues, both minor most of the time but could be an issue in certain conditions. 1. When raining, the water pools a bit on the dome of the fly. If you don’t knock that water off first & open the tent door & fly it drips straight into the tent space rather than out in the vestibule.

Kind of a design flaw I guess, but not a issue if no rain. 2. The tent stands fairly tall & narrow so without the guy lines attached at the front of the tent it seems the wind could fairly easily flatten the tent.

So this is only a potential issue if it’s windy. It wasn’t on my two excursions. Taking that into consideration, for a price of about $80 it’s a fantastic deal! I don’t think you’ll find a tent of this quality, new, for that price.

I got this to replace my msr hubba hubba 2 2022 edition, it was to much an missed alot of little stuff. I got this which is heavier almost 3x but for the savings an it does everything the msr does worth it.

It has the pockets an the mesh overhang piece (msr didn’t kinda upset bout that) an little pockets. Pockets everywhere, also it pitches with rainfly an ground sheet or floor protector as Alps mountaineering calls it lol.

so it literally does everything the hubba hubba does but is heavier. I’ve adjusted my pack for the weight an now I’m doing everything plus!! would definitely recommend. I’m 6’2in an 180ish lbs I solo this tent with my dog.

but normally just me an my gear an lots of extra space. it would be 5 stars if they could get it to a 3 lbs for the whole tent.

I have spent countless hours tent shopping and began to trust a camping blog site that raved about the durability and weatherproofing Teton Sports, specifically this tent, offered. I finally mustered the courage to buy this tent and receive my 10% off when signing up for emails.

Needless to say, the pictures do not do it justice. I would have bought this tent a lot sooner if I had seen even half of what I did when I set it up. The careful details on the stitching, the pockets, the rainfly clips, and additional poles help keep the rainfly up.

This is something I learned through my research, but bathtub flooring is an absolute must, and this tent has it but also has 150D Polyester Oxford material inside the tent. I learned this is a durable waterproofing material that is hard to come by in an affordable tent.

I love all the little features and details this tent has. Another nice thing is they give you coupons when you buy this tent. Then, when you buy the rainfly separately, they give you even more coupons.

I might have to go and buy an inflatable mattress off of Teton now. People on Amazon (I bought it off of Teton directly) get upset about buying the rainfly separately. Honestly, the tent is underpriced, and you are already getting a good deal, so buy the rainfly.

I have set it up, but I will not be camping again until May. If I do not write another review, know I still absolutely love this tent and will continue to rave about it to everyone. If you are like me, this is your sign to have the courage to buy this tent after countless hours of research.

Make sure you KNOW how this sets up BEFORE going away from reception!!! The ONLY reason I didn’t give 5 stars was due to lack of understanding instructions for a “newbie” like myself, as well as not having the option with no WiFi/cell service to research the product itself via TETON etc.

Once I realized I was overheating, I stopped trying to figure out the language used in the instructions and followed my instinct. I was able to put this up by myself in less than 30 minutes. did I put it up correctly, probably not.

Especially on where exactly you’re supposed to clip onto poles vs feeding them through the loops each clip is on. (diagram seems to show the opposite of what words tell you to do). Especially with how you’re supposed to run the silver pole through the top, OVER the 2 poles that hold sides up, this extra pole has me beyond confused on where its supposed to go.

Other than that, This is absolutely perfect for a portable safe space to bring ANYWHERE! The design is brilliant, very easy to assemble/take apart thanks to the design as well. Once again, I wish there was a bit more clarification on what I received, as I still have a mesh zipper part I have no idea where to put, or if its simply an extra part in case something happens? As well as feeling as if i did not put it together correctly in the first place.

Not really sure, but the point is this thing WORKS! This is now my space and mine alone! Thank you for giving me my “bubble” so people leave me be when I’m enjoying Nature Therapy! THANK YOU!!!!!.

Just bought this for a quick overnighter with my son. Sets up easily with one pole design and color-coded body and fly strap (put the red straps together). More than enough space for one person and some gear inside the tent and in the vestibule.

No rain at all, so I cannot comment on leaking or waterproof ability. However, after a detailed inspection of all the seams, it appears to be very well sealed. I would be surprised if it does leak. We were NOT at a hike/backpack site.

I do not think this is a packable lightweight tent, but manageable if you didn’t mind the bulkiness of it being strapped to your pack. Overall I think it is an excellent tent of good quality for the price you pay.

I got it for a great deal here on Moosejaw, but have seen it for less if you are patient and wait for deals. I just ordered the same tent but the 2-person version for about the same price. Already received it and it looks just as good and can’t wait to try this one out too.

I bought the Timberline 2 way back in April of 1980. I was living in Huntington Beach, Calif. at the time and was getting gear together to hitchhike to Alaska. For some reason, my sister, her boyfriend and myself drove all the way out to Riverside, Calif to a well known sporting goods store to make the purchase.

I tested the tent in the store and found it to be superior in quality and it already had a great reputation among outdoors people at the time. I took it back to Huntington Beach and assembled my gear and finally took off hitching.

This tent saw the eruption of Mt. St. Helens as it spewed ash everywhere as I was passing North on Interstate 5. It saw many nights in B. C. Canada and then in the Yukon. At last, I reached Fairbanks, Alaska and lived in the Eureka Timberline 2 as I traveled all over Alaska.

I spent 3 nights in Denali Park at the base of Mt. McKinley(as it was known then) somewhere just shy of Turtle Mt. It was a grand place to camp as the Mt. was out the entire time and I lost sleep sitting in the Timberline as the Mt was just too beautiful in the salmon colored alpenglow to not take my eyes off of it.

Later, in heavy rainstorms near McCarthy, hail and lots of rain proved the stability of the tent. Mosquitoes were abundant and the tent performed flawlessly in keeping them from driving me crazy. I slept in the tent comfortably as I tried my hand at panning for gold and later traded that gold for a 1/2 Wolf 1/2 husky dog I named Taku.

He was a keeper as was the Eureka Timberline 2 tent. It is and was definitely “Old School” but It will always hold a cherished place in my memories of being a reliable travel home.

I was a Boy Scout in the 1990s and these were the only tents we used from April-November all over New England. Of course when my son joined Boy Scouts I had to get the same tent for nostalgic and brand trust reasons.

Not much has changed over the past 20 something years. The plastic connectors are less complicated, the colors changed slightly saving white and brown for the higher end models, however the ease of assembly (can be put together by one person in the dark is a win to me), and the quality remain the same.

I did peek at other brands when shopping for tents online. However Eureka won in the long run especially when they offer replacements parts and repairs which the competition doesn’t. We just used our tent in the Maine Woods where it got down to 20 degrees in November and stayed warm and dry.

I have three Boys and will be buying more Eureka Timberline Tents as they younger ones get older so they each have one for them and their friends. Even when I ran into a snafu Customer Service went above and beyond.

We will be customers for generations. Thank you Eureka!.

I have camped in my Timberline since 1994. In the 28 years that my Timberline has traveled the United States it has always been a reliable and well-built shelter that’s always been dependable. There is plenty of room for 2 people in this tent, even three people can lay down comfortably in this shelter.

4 people as advertised is a bit of a tight squeeze. It can be a bit tricky to set up the first few times but once you get the hang of it, its a breeze. If set up correctly this tent will always keep you dry and out of the elements.

Theres plenty of room to move around in this shelter, added side pockets inside are great, zippers and screens are quality. The vestibule is a MUST and money well spent as an add-on for this shelter.

Lots of room, simple, and will most likely outlive its owner. Its hard to find good products these days, Eureka has always done good with this one.

Update 8/16/21: It rained! We had a late afternoon thunderstorm pop up this past weekend, but everything inside our tent stayed dry. I sent my teen to zip up the windows, but with the air vents engaged, it didn’t even get stuffy! It was a very humid weekend, however, and the floor got a little damp underneath his sleeping pad, and under the packing blanket I use under my air mattress, likely from condensation.

*** I like space and comfort when I’m sleeping in the woods. There, I said it. On a recent group trip, a friend offered to come back in 5 minutes to help me “pitch” my tent. When she got back, I was staking the guy lines on the rain fly while my air mattress inflated inside.

When it’s just me, I set up a queen air bed and a camp table inside for my lantern, toothbrush, and weather-resistant JBL bluetooth speaker, with room for gear and some aggressive dancing. My 6’2″ husband can stand up inside.

When all three of us camp, my son’s sleeping pad and bag fit just fine and the divider creates a little privacy. Typically, I string solar twinkly lights around it and use a USB bug light/hanging lamp inside.

Tons of screen area mean you catch breezes when it’s hot, and if there’s no rain in the forecast, you can skip the fly and stargaze through the screen ceiling. It’s not light (35 pounds?) but everything goes back in the back no problem when you pack out, including the tarp I use as a footprint (not included).

I’ve lucked out with foul weather so far for two seasons, but I always test it with my garden hose before I use it to make sure it’s still repelling water. Based on that, I’d suggest zipping the windows mostly closed if it’s aggressively rainy, but that seems like common sense to me.

Perhaps the only design change I’d suggest: instead of both the double door and the D-door being on one corner of the tent, shift the D-door over, so when the divider is in use, it’s a truly two-room experience.

Though I’ve only used it a few times when camping with my son for cub scouts, it has been fantastic. That is is until this weekend when camping, the silver button on one of the leg poles broke and the pole couldn’t stay extended.

My son and I had to camp all weekend with the corner of the tent collapsed! It ruined what was otherwise a nice campout with the scouts. The tent is just out of warranty (purchased 13mo ago), so customer service was a dead end.

The rep had zero empathy for the terrible experience we had. She simply argued the warranty and left it at that. Given the nature of what broke, how well I take care of the tent (garage kept and well cared for), and us having to deal with a broken tent all weekend, I don’t think I’m being unreasonable by asking Core to send me a replacement pole.

We’re set to camp again in two weeks for spring break and now I have to spend another ~$200 in just over a year. It’s sad because the tent is still like new. I really wanted to have it for many years to come and not have it be just another 1yr product that breaks and is trashed.

I can’t say enough good things about this tent. We have used it several times already, but we just completed a week of camping down the Oregon Coast and the Redwood Forest with 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs.

We broke camp every morning and set up further down the coast every afternoon. This tent is what made it possible. I did waterproof the underside of the rainfly before setting off which helped keep s dry.

We did have a bit of leakage at the seams where the window fasteners are sewn in – the moisture dripped from the plastic piece to the floor or whatever was under them. The windows weren’t a problem as some mentioned.

I think a large part of the complaints people have are simply user error. I will seal the seams when we get home and use a good waterproof spray on the inside of the tent to prep for its next use. We live in Montana and have used it successfully in the mountains in the summer, and plan to do it again.

I will have to figure out a way to hold in some of the warmth a little more, but I realize that this tent is probably not really intended for mountain environments. The constant dampness of the coast was also manageable as long as we aired out in the afternoon.

We use a tarp as a footprint to protect the floor of the tent. Sleeping on thin air mattresses (purchased at Costco) ensured that everyone was comfy every night. Next time we will add a second rain fly and tarp poles to make a vestibule for our side door.

We are looking forward to many more trips with this excellent tent! Thank you CORE for an outstanding product!! As a side note- have you considered creating addons for this tent?.

Used to live in Oregon ( country side ) and absolutely dig the outdoors and adventuring. Seldom leave reviews and this here Company deserves good praise for creating an amazing product (s). Not only is this Trekking Tent the best but incredibly smart designed.

Super easy to set up and is truly without a doubt Ultra light , weighs in at 2lbs & 14 ounces. Was also stoked that the ultra light Trekking tent Poles ( 2) are also extendable hiking poles!! Shared it to my Instagram stories and my friends were like whattt! Some said they were a bit jelly that i have a kool tent now.

Definitely referred them to River Country Products website. So far Ive found nothing wrong with the quality or build of this extraordinary tent. The ventilation system on the top side of tent is so kool! This is now my official International Travel tent.

Last June went on a road trip / tent camping in Ireland for a month. This year , Picos De Europa , Ireland ( again ) New England and Scotland. I have no doubt that this tent will be nothing short of amazing.

I answered a cautious YES regarding waterproofness because hasnt been rained on or sprayed with hose. After set-up I did my standard soak all seams in silicone treatment though. Received tent a couple of weeks back but due to workload I am just now getting around to looking at it.

Did my initial setup here behind house and went up super easy. Since am not really a hiker but a spur of moment camper/hunter/fisherman- I like compact tents to throw in truck and leave there so that am ready at moments notice.

Since am not a hiker I built my own collapsing custom fit poles from 11mm tent pole repair kits. And as I setup I replaced the day-glow orange cordage with heavier camo paracord that glow in dark. Love that stuff! Am only 5-4 & 175 lbs so I have room inside for me and some gear.

Would like to see a second storage pocket near door. Would think it will have adequate ventilation in porch mode and with a fire out front should be warm in colder temps. Cant wait to get into the woods.

I was skeptical of a tent that cost under $50. Right out of the box, I set it up with a trekking pole in the front yard. It took less than 5 minutes. Plenty of room for one person and their gear with the built-in vestibule.

An adult and small child could probably sleep in the one-man. I hosed the tent down, and nothing came through. All the seams were taped adequately. Only a real rain storm will tell for sure. The tent is fairly lightweight.

The packed size is about the same as a football. Overall, seems to be worth the money.

Solid design made with sound materials! 7000 series aluminum is robust enough to take on most weather (thinking wind load here). Note: 7000 series aluminum is not really designed to bend (be mindful as you set your tent up).

It is possible to snap a section of pole. The mesh allows ample air to circulate through when the fly is off (like most tents). The polyester taffeta 1500 is just like most entry-level waterproofing (it will do the job.

but don’t expect it to last a lifetime). With a footprint, you should be fine though. My only issue lies with the distance the fly rests over the mesh. This is an issue that most tent companies deal with so take it with a grain of salt.

Moisture buildup takes place on the underside of the fly. The only fix for this is to increase the distance between the fly and the mesh. Some companies have this figured out. Surprisingly many have yet to? For the price you won’t be disappointed.

Fits a 6’0″ person fine (with gear). Sitting up is snug (doable. but snug). Happy trails.

I love this little tent. The full mesh body makes it feel larger inside than it really is because the walls are not closing in on you. The yellow is bright, so it is easy to spot if you wander a little far from camp (the green is a bit softer than the picture, not a bright kelly green).

I was surprised when I set it up because the end by the feet is smaller than the end by the head. I am all about cutting unnecessary weight, so I don’t mind, but I said the size runs small because of this.

It also creates a unique shape overall because the overhead bar is not set directly in the center like most tents. Even so, we did not notice once we were inside. We fit two people without feeling crowded and still had room at our feet to put some stuff.

The tent is very easy to set up, but you do have to line it up correctly since the size changes from one end to the other. The poles and hooking straps are color-coded, so this is not a problem. I haven’t taken this out on a full backpacking trip yet, but using it in the campground has worked very well.

The seams are sealed well and we didn’t have any issues with rain. Eureka has also worked great for us in the past!.

Just got back from 5 nights in Algonquin. This tent worked perfectly and is super easy to set up and take down. I’ve owned three (possibly four) different Eureka tents over the course of 38 years (including two or three different Eureka Timbetrlines models as well as a six-person family cabin) and have used the Timberlines on Isle Royale, in the Porkies, on the Ontonogan, in Algonquin, Quetico, Acadia National Park, Rocky Mountian National Park, and all over Michigan’s Lower Penninsula.

This is far and away the best tent I have owned. I particularly loved the oval door design – the zippers work much more easily than the straight/rectangular design- and it is super easy to get into and out of, especially in the middle of the night for those bathroom breaks.

The rain fly (with the guylines, zipper system, and ventilation system) is outstanding and it was never stuffy in the tent even on a really humid and warm night.

We heard great things about MSR tents (it seems everyone has one wherever we go) so we finally bought an NX Hubba Hubba for light summer use on hiking and biking trips. The tent sat in storage for several months initially and when we went to use it, the fly did not fit.

The material had somehow shrunk so bad that it would not fit on the body. It was about 2 inches short everywhere it needed to connect to the poles. We sent the fly in and they replaced it with a new one that fit properly.

Weird, but oh well. At least we can use the tent now. The next summer, we used the tent in the rain for the first time (with the MSR footprint) and woke up to find pools of water in the corners of the tent.

We were shocked by just how much – like a cup in each corner. We thought it was the fly leaking, but later found out the water was coming through the stitches and sealant in the tent body itself. When we got home, we held the corners in a bucket of water and could see the water seeping in.

I’ve never seen a tent leak like that in all my years using TNF, MEC and even cheap dept store tents. We sent in the tent a second time for warranty but this time MSR sent it back three weeks later, unrepaired, with a tube of seam sealer.

The note said fix it yourself. Seriously? What a disappointment and waste of time. One expects more from a tent that costs this much and MSR should back up their products with warranty. This is the first and last MSR tent we will ever buy.

I still love their stoves and cookware though.

I was excited to receive my MSR Hubba Hubba NX. It’s wonderdully light at 1. 67 kilos and, more importantly, very roomy inside – plenty of space to sit up properly, with none of the ‘coffin’ like feel of some minamilist tents.

Ventilationis good – almost too good in colder Scottish weather, the interior is very ‘airy’ and could not be described as warm, but it is a three season tent and the ventilation is wonderful whenit’s hot and sticky outside.

No condensation forming inside. There are very neat velcroed ‘arms’ to hold the vents open fore and aft, only drawback is they have to be setup when outside the tent, no access from inside. The green flysheet is perfect for stealth / wild camping – blending in with the landscape.

All in all, an excellent tent that I just love!.

I just received this tent a couple of days ago after ordering it online. When I tried to set it up for the first time, I got a dozen glass splinters in my fingers from handling the tent poles. I also noticed the poles made a crunching noise when they were being inserted into each other.

I don’t know if this is because the tent was packed in an environment full of glass splinters, or because someone brought back a used tent with splintering poles and this is what I got shipped, but this is unacceptable for this price.

The new “Syclone” poles are made out of a composite of ballistic fiber, carbon and resin (according to their website), but if it flakes, it’s only going to damage the fabric of the tent over time (and also ruin my fingers).

Additionally, MSR say they have ‘added additional sealing’ to the rainfly seams following the known leaking issues, so I expected to be able to see the sealant along the seams. However, the additional sealant was not visible on either the store demo model, nor the tent I received.

It makes me wonder if the only change was the inclusion of the small bottle of sealant? Overall it just seems like too much of a gamble to buy this tent at this price because of the unproven technologies.

It’s a shame because I’d heard many good things about the previous version of the Hubba Hubba NX.

I wanted a medium sized tent, with a removeable rainfly for a camping trip. This tent says it is a “backpacking tent” but I would NEVER take it on the trail. However, it can be a great choice for a medium sized car camping trip.

I did make a few modifications that made it work better for me. I imagine most people would want to do the same. You should consider the following: 1. The guy lines/tie outs were HORRIBLE! I replaced them and they are much better.

2. The included tent stakes are weak and will bend if not in soft soil. I just used the MSR groundhogs I had for my backpacking set up. 3. It needs a foot print, and I had to patch the bathtub floor by the second night.

I bought a cheap tarp and it worked well.

Overall, a decent tent that is roomy and easy to assemble. Its not going to last if you are a very frequent camper that heads into some heavy duty terrain, but if you camp a few weekends during the summer or want something for the kids to use in the backyard, this tent will work for you.

Actually, this tent is excellent for backyard camping. I received the six person tent, and its big enough to hold a couple twin/full air mattresses for three or four kids, a cooler for snacks and drinks, blankets, and pillows.

No worries about inclement weather rolling in as the tent is waterproof. It can get a little stuffy with the windows zipped up, so if you have a couple of battery or charger block operated fans you can hang in the tent, all the better.

The tent poles are strong enough to hang a few lightweight lights from, or you can tuck a couple into the little storage net at the top of the tent. If you do use this for backyard camping, a little opening has thoughtfully been incorporated into one of the corners so you can run a a power strip out to the tent for lights, a fan, small tv, chargers, etc.

The tent isnt made for tall people as the center of the tent is only 56. My husband is a foot taller than this, so he really has to stoop when inside the tent. My head hits the storage net, but I dont need to bend down as much to move around the inside of the tent.

We use a big king air mattress with this tent, and still have plenty of room for a little bedside camping table and two camping chairs for a little sitting/reading area. Setup is straightforward and quick and doesnt take a Ph.

D. or multiple people. One person can easily set up this six person version in well under ten minutes even moving at a very leisurely, meandering pace. Though the bottom is waterproof, we do set this up over a large tarp in order to protect the floor from any tears or punctures.

The rest of the tent is waterproof as well, even in downpours though you dont want to open the main door as t.

This tent replaces my trusty 14-year old Coleman dome tent which was so reliable, Im keeping it to use as an equipment tent for longer stays. Ive used it once so far for three nights only. My first impression is that its pretty decent.

Its extremely easy and quick to set up–I think I could even set it up in the dark without too much trouble. Understand that it does NOT come with the rain fly I bought that separately. I dont yet know how it will perform in rain, as it didnt rain that weekend where I was camping.

Youre supposed to be able to use this minus the rainfly, but I dont trust that. The 2 vents at the top are tiny maybe an inch high and dont let in much air my old tent had much more top vent area. They could have at least put in 4 vents at the top.

That being said, the large windows on every side were fantastic for cross-ventilation. I had to close them at night, as it was cooler, but I stayed plenty warm. I do wish they had installed some way to tie up the front window flaps I used plastic clips so the flaps didnt hang straight down.

You can tie the door back, but Ive never had a reason to do so–that lets in bugs. The zipper at the top corner of the door is starting to pull a little and remember, this was my first use I hope it lasts.

There is one feature my old tent had that this does not which is pretty essential to me: my old tent had a zipped and flap-covered portal in one corner for my extension cord and that never leaked. This tent does not.

I had to bring my power cord in through the door, and it is really in the way. A flap does cover it, but every time you use the door, you have to arrange the cord for optimal coverage a giant pain in the posterior.

My brother, who has an identical tent and loves it, told me he brought his in through the top, but the only portal I could find was through the vent, which would make the power cord hang down in the middle of the tent.

That would be even worse. Overall, I think its a pretty nice.

Belle tente idéale pour deux personnes , très facile à installer. Belle particularité de cette tente , c’est la forme inhabituelle qui comprend 2 ailes qui permettent de loger les bagages. Seul point négatif à mon avis , c’est l’ouverture du vestibule qui se fait du côté opposé de la porte de la tente , on doit donc s’étirer du côté gauche pour avoir accès à la tirette.

Ils aurait pu aussi avoir mis un meilleur système d’attache pour tenir le vestibule ouvert au complet , ce dernier pend un peu lâchement au dessus de la porte d’entrée, et ce des deux côtés. Autre point à retenir , il n’y a pas beaucoup de pochettes de rangement à l’intérieur si vous êtes du genre à avoir plein de ” cossins ” à vider de vos poches.

J’ai fais une sortie à présent avec , sous une bonne averse , et aucune intrusion d’eau à l’intérieur. Donc en conclusion , un bon produit Marmot.

Cette tente est très pratique car elle a peut de membrures à assembler, elle a deux espaces intérieur protubérants pour les sacs, elle est très légère et contient une doublure de sol.

Bien conçu, espace supplémentaire très intéressant. Un autre excellant produit Marmot. Je le recommande

My 5-yr old Grandson is always wanting to camp…in the house, at the park, in the back yard, etc. So for. Christmas he is getting his 1st tent. Was recently delivered; need to wrap for the tree. Keeping my fingers crossed that it gets lots of use! Giving a 5 star rating now.

I didnt like anything about this tent. It’s not a 2 person(not adult anyway) it leaked the first 2 minutes of rain. The front doesn’t close all the way. Or zip all the way. Ice never seen a tent that didnt zip so it would close all the way un front, but it doesn’t so you have tge front of your tent open except the net zips.

Great value for price. Only complaint is no rainfly. (There is an optional bandana-sized scrap of coverage they call a “rainfly” but it won’t do any good. ) Perfect for kids, good weather, first-timers not ready to invest in quality equipment.

Might last a season.

IšverstiShow in original languageI bought this tent on Cyber Monday 2021 to use for Kayak Camping this coming summer. I have not used it, but I have set it up just to make sure there aren’t any major defects.

I understood when I purchased the tent that it wouldn’t be a true bathtub floor, but it was fully seam sealed. Since Kelty is supposed to be a better brand, I still expected the floor itself to be one piece even if there were seams between the floor & the sides.

I was surprised to find a seam running from side to side across the tent closer to the foot end. It’s sealed, but still a disappointment. If they’re trying to sell more footprints, then it’s working since I have already decided to purchase one before my first trip.

Another thing that was disappointing were the tent pole clips. They were not the twist-style clips that were advertised on every website I used to research this tent. Additionally, there are not 2 clips anchoring the peak as advertised.

Instead there is only one clip at the peak & it is the same style as the rest of the pole clips. While it’s the same clip system as other Kelty tents such as the Late Start, this very much seems like an update made to cheapen up the production process.

I am going to keep the tent & hope for the best since I got a good deal on it & I will not be an extremely heavy user.

FINALLY someone designed an easy open vestibule! I know, this may seem like a no big deal to some, but for me, I absolutely HATE the tents on the market today. They ALL have the same basic design. The center zip vestibule.

This makes it so you have to pretty much crawl on you hand and knees and almost lay on your stomach to get to the zipper. And then, if there is an outer peg that the vestibule half is connected to, you have to play around with that as well.

Horrible design!! And I hated them all. Now comes the Grand Mesa 2!!! For me, this was a SERIOUS game changer!! It is heavier than I wanted, however, I would rather carry an extra 2 pounds and have the luxury of this easy access vestibule zipper!!! For one person, this tent is super roomy! Well manufactured, as I would expect nothing less from Kelty!! All seams are taped and I love the new corner sleeve design.

Kelty has hit this one out of the ballpark!! Kudos to your design team on this one!! You might consider making a Grand Mesa 1!! I would have purchased that for sure, but this two person tent will work.

Highly recommend this piece of gear!!.

IšverstiShow in original languageOrdered the tent a day before my cross country trip. Paid for over night shipping and the tent didn’t arrive until 4 days after ordering. Unfortunately I had to leave before the tent arrived and snagged a REI Groundbreaker 2 tent before the trip.

Maybe I’ll get around to using the Grand Mesa 2 eventually. Just sucks I wasted $30 on overnight shipping. I was a big fan of my Salida 2 tent but it caught mold and I had to toss it 2 days before my trip.

I should be happy with the Grand Mesa 2 when I get around to using it. My Salida 2 lasted me 4 years of hard use. It was a great tent.

I received this patio furniture approx 2 weeks ago. I live alone and was able put together the set by myself. They include a hex wrench with each piece of furniture (so I received 3 total which is a bit excessive, but understand if I bought each item separately).

The instructions are simple and it didn’t take too long to assemble. The furniture is sturdy but not too heavy. It’s easy to wipe down, when it gets dusty. Perfect for a small patio/balcony (which is where mine is).

So far I like it. The price was reasonable and I would buy it again.

When I say I liked this tent, I really did. It was spacious enough for five people and gear and it kept us dry for four years of moderate camping (2-3 times a year). On the fifth year I had To waterproof it but the seams were failing, as ants were getting in, so we decided to pitch it , no pun intended.

Because of this tent I only planned to go with Coleman when replacing it as I was happy with most of its features. I wish the springy door actually worked – we omitted the poles every time and just zipped up a loose fabric door because otherwise the tension was too hard on it.

I wasn’t a fan of the door height from the ground and its center placement, it made it hard for little ones and shorter adults to step in and out of the tent and it could be awkward if we arranged the bedding near the entrance.

I also wish it had a divider but I always made one out of a sheet, a clothesline and clothespins. I hope our next tent checks all the boxes since we know what we’re looking for now, but this one, even with my complaints, was pretty good as it goes.

Very simple setup but you definitely need two people, as with most tents. The screened in front porch area is great for camping in areas with lots of bugs or mosquitos. I would say this is a fantastic tent for an entry level camper or someone that goes maybe twice a year.

We went camping during pretty heavy winds and rains and the wind snapped the poles for the tent which is why I Gave it a 3 star review. If you’re looking for a nice basic, large tent this is great!.

Let’s be honest – for the price I wasn’t expecting a world class tent so the shortcomings weren’t really a surprise. This is at best a 3-season tent. The interior is almost completely mesh and doesn’t qualify as a double walled winter/ready tent.

And the floor is NOT a bathtub design so bets are off as to it being really waterproof when the ground is running with water. But if you accept it for what it is the tent should be fine for general camping use in mostly fair weather.

Insect protection ls excellent and during clear summer nights the tarp can be left off and ventilation will be excellent. The size and weight make it a good choice for bicycle camping. If the weather gets to be too much for the tent to handle – there’s always a motel.

I’m glad I have it. The war in Ukraine is a warning. The people were living their lives as usual. Then Russia attacked them and started a war. I’m sure women my age would like to have options to stay warm and dry.

The truth is that these days we just never know when we might find ourselves in a crisis with no warning.

I bought this tent a year ago and love it. I was looking for a larger tent that had a height that would allow a playpen for my youngest to fit into and our family of four with a large breed dog. This one had the space and the height.

My husband can stand in the tent at 6ft taller. It has big beautiful windows as well to enjoy the fresh air and the views while camping. It is quite large but it very easy to assemble. I took the two kids and myself in this tent and was able to put it together on my own, the rain fly may be a little.

but of a challenge for a shorter person, I am 5’4 and it took a stool for me to stand on to get it on top without help on the other side. The tent is quite spacious, it would easily fit two queen air mattresses if needed, with some room to spare.

I used a double mattress single and was able to lay down some yoga mats in prep for a rainy day inside the tent for the kids to have a play area. There is also space in the vestibule that comes on either side of the tent for any extra storage that does not fit.

It has amazing airflow and while camping we were hit with rain during the night. The tent never leaked. The bottom lining of the tent admittedly feels thin. I would lay down some mats in high walk spaces, especiallybat camp sites with gravel, just to keep the bottom intact for long term use.

I am very happy with my purchase of this tent and would say 8 adults would be tight, 6 comfortably. Our family of 4 with a dog have plenty of space.

Woods Tent I am so very pleased with this tent!! It arrived about three days after I ordered it online. I had a problem with one of the poles, and left an email message on a weekend about that making the tent dysfunctional.

I received an email reply by the end of Monday and another tent in a few days which checked out fine. That’s speedy service for you!!! I bought it because most of the reviews are positive and some are ecstatic (and I’m one of them), because of the reputation of the company being very responsive and it fit all my “wants”: Two doors, two windows, roomy, fly comes all the way to the ground, under $200, rain and wind resistant, easy to assemble.

Here’s some of the features that make this a good tent: • It performed well in rainy weather, even without seam seal on the fly. (though I would recommend following this requirement in extended or monsoon weather.

) • All openings have double sturdy zippers. • All openings can be secured open or zipped shut. • The door and window openings on the fly can be secured open or shut. • There is a “vestible” for each door that can be secured to the ground to provide a protected entryway.

My camping chair fit into this area, as well as shoes and a wipe off cloth. • A separate pocket is provided and a hook at the peak of the tent. • Even the fly has a couple protected vents in it. • The carry bag is very roomy.

• It’s not overly heavy. I’m 80 and could carry and put it up with a friend easily. These are my recommendations: • Read the instructions before setting up the tent. Follow them. It’s much easier to use two people to lift the top pole first, bringing the bottom pole along with it, as shown in the picture.

• Since the fly does not come completely down to the ground on the window sides, stake them away from the tent a bit to protect from rain. • Put seam seal on the fly if you expect a lot of rain or snow.

• It was difficult for me to find the “pockets” that the fly pole went into. I used a marker to highlight them. • Be sure to take the tent down in reverse order; it’s easier that way. • I bought an 8×10 tarp for ground cover, especially good if the ground is rough or pokey.

It’s not recommended to have the ground cover extent too much beyond the tent as it can guide water to the tent. • I recommend two rugs for the entrances. • Bring along a mallet and stake puller. My recommendations for the company: • Change the label.

This is not a 4 person tent, unless they are all children (this is true of most if not all advertised 4 person tents. ) With my dog, her bed, and my gear, this felt roomy and big enough for us. It might be ok for an intimate couple and small pet(s).

• Manufacture the tent poles separately so you can replace those that are defective without having to replace the entire tent.
