20 Best Tequila For Ponche (2022 Updated)

I Googled “best reasonably priced tequila”. Read a review with 10 options. This was listed as “best to drink straight”. I agree but i mixed mine making Mexican mules and tequila, dos Equis, and lime juice.

Both pleasant, somewhat pungent, which is more refreshing than overly sweet.

So this product has a specific use for me. Since it is very affordable and I enjoy making my own margaritas for taco Tuesday this is my tequila staple. It’s a great price point, can be found almost anywhere and is really a good quality tequila when you need a larger volume for friends, parties or events.

It’s nowhere near as gross as Jose Cuervo and the hangover risk is not bad. You can tell it is just good enough of quality that it is a reliable choice that won’t give you regrets in the morning.

The last review that gave one star really needs to be removed because to say after two shots you felt poisoned 🤢 gave me anxiety! To me this tequila tasted like one of the best tequilas I’ve tried and I’ve tasted many.

From Don Julio to Patron to Avión, Casmigos, Hornitos, José Cuervo, 1800, Espolón, Casa Noble, Sauza and my favorite Milagros. I’ve been waiting to get my hands on a bottle of Teremana and finally I was able to savor the light, refreshing notes with little to no lasting alcohol after flavors lingering on the palette.

I can see this being my new favorite and mixing it or enjoying on its own. Cold and refreshing.

Teramana Tequila is definitely the “People’s Tequila. ” I’ve always been a scotch, whisky, bourbon, cognac lover. Also like rum. Never ever cared for Tequila. Today as my wife and I were walking through Sam’s Club here in Pearl City Hawaii, spotted a bottle of Teramana.

I knew that Dawyne Johnson aka” The Rock “” I’m a huge fan. ” Dwayne owns Teramana so decided to purchase a bottle. Best decision I made all week. Smooth, refreshing, light with a excellent flavor. Unbelievable quality for the price.

Can’t say enough how much my wife and I enjoyed it. I highly recommend trying a bottle.

I have a local tequila bar in my town and they use corralejo blanco for there signature drink. The drinks are delicious and I walk out floating on air only having two. Definitely recommend if your are a tequila drinker this is a good one and its really smooth not harsh.

I have a friend that only drinks patron. I bought this and decided to give it a try. Still on the top shelf but cheaper than patron. Tried it and it was soo smooth. Smoother than patron. My new fav tequila! Won’t buy anything else.

The title says it all. Smooth with a good agave flavor. Blends well in a margarita or a tequila sunrise. Great with salt and a lime as well. I always enjoy this stuff.

With summer just around the corner, I’m already dreaming of patio BBQs with my friends and a frosty pitcher of Corralejo margaritas! The flavor is smooth enough for shots, too. but I recommend savoring the flavor by sipping it chilled with lime or pouring it over rocks and throwing in your favorite juices and margarita mix.

Pro tip: blend it with ice, and 2/3 recommended amount of margarita mix, then sub in the last 1/3 with pina colada mix! Frosty coconut lime margaritas will make you feel like you’re on a beach no matter where you enjoy them!.

We are from California. This tequila is our go-to tequila. We make them simply. Nothing in them but, tequila, orange liquor and lime juice from the tree in our yard. Sublime. And never a hang over.

These reviews couldn’t be further from reality. No where near Don Julio. Big ethanol burn on the back end. Not great on the front end. Not smooth at all. This could possibly work as a mixer, not straight up unless you like a bumpy ride.

For the price, go with Olmeca Altos or anything else.

I drink Espolon always. Thought I would give this a try. Omg! No way! Tastes like old olives. Lol. El Espolon is way way way better. By far and almost same price.

I bought this along with a bottle of the silver blanco version. Glad I did, because if I just bought the blanco I would never buy this brand again. This reposado is pretty decent for the price. I sipped it and it wasn’t bad.

I think I will buy it again and use mainly for margaritas.

This might be the best tequila under $20 I’ve ever had. It’s not bad at all for sipping, but it’s even better in mixed drinks. It’s pretty smoothe with a sweet, oaky, peppery taste that lasts a long time.

I need to try the blanco now!.

I don’t usually drink but I decided to buy this just to try it. Its my new favorite drink! Its so smooth and doesn’t taste horrible. The pricing isn’t sky high like most top shelf liquors! I highly recommend this for anyone who isn’t a heavy drinker or doesn’t like the taste of liquor.

I first discovered La Pinta on a 2007 cruise stop in Cancun, and had been searching for it ever since. It was years before I found it available in the US, and then even longer before I found a consumer distributor.

I first ordered it from a Total Wine in California and had it sent to a store in Georgia when it wasn’t carried locally. THAT IS HOW GOOD THIS STUFF IS! It is a bold, tart, sweet, Pomegranate smack in the mouth which leaves other fruity liquors in its wake.

Good Evening! Let me just tell you first off that this tequila is delicious. I was recently introduced to this deliciousness at a birthday party I attended (yes Karen, social distancing was enforced!) anyway, I wanted to introduce it to another group of friends so they would not be deprived of the pomegranate greatness, and decided to purchase a bottle.

We gathered to open, pour, and toast to a good time. however that is where the problem began. I removed the plastic covering over the top, and attempted to open the bottle. oh no, it was starting to show that I have not worked out during quarantine.

I tried to play it off like my hands had lotion and passed it on to the next person. she apparently had lotion on as well (come up with your own excuse, right!?!?!) well ok so I panicked and put out an SOS on social Media after about 4 failed attempts.

Instant relive when the SOS was answered and a human bottle opener arrived. since this option also failed, we resorted to google and YouTube in a group effort. Well that did not provide much help. At this point, we had tried twisting, pulling, running it under hot water, and using a cork screw to try and get it through the plastic.

FAIL!!! I then decided to return to the vendor where the purchase was made to ask them what I’m the world was happening. They refused to exchange my bottle because it looked, well um, let’s just say tampered with!!! I drove 40 minutes to my mechanic cousins home at 12am, and finally the problem was fixed.

Open! Success! Thirst quenched. if there is a trick I could use in the future, that info would be greatly appreciated thank you!!!.

I love drinking tequila. I prefer drinking 1942 but I also like 1921 Anejo tequila. I am sipping tequila type person. I enjoy the experience. I usually use other tequila as a mixer for margaritas. The color of this bottle, price and pomegranate caught my eye.

I thought it would be a perfect gift for friends to enjoy. I bought one for myself to try. I loved it so much, I went back and bought the last case. I couldn’t believe it sold out. I am a big fan.

Who knew that that other big name brand Tequila was not 100% Agave? I sure didn’t. My wife gets headaches when her margareta isn’t made with 100% Agave, so I went searching when Cuervo fell short. I’m not much of a Tequila shot or sipper person, but this is good enough that you can if you want.

I’ll typically go with a Anejo if I’m looking for that, but this stuff surprised me at how smooth it is. For mixing up fresh home made margarita, this Legado is fantastic. Highly recommended!.

While shopping, I decided to buy some tequila specifically for margaritas. I wanted something good but not at high end prices. A gentleman at Total Wines recommended the Legado Reposada Tequila and I’m very happy he did.

My husband and I used it for margaritas but my son also took a shot and said it was good and smooth. I will definitely purchase this again soon – especially since I’m running low!.

Great for sipping or mixing into cocktails. It is smooth and doesn’t overpower the cocktail when mixed. It’s a great price and the bottle looks nice. This is my first time trying it and I would definitely put this in my rotation.

Bought this being a bourbon & tequila fan. I wasn’t sure it was worth the $80 tag. 3 days later I finished my first bottle. Very smooth with a citrus, green apple, chocolate finish just as others had mentioned when I was reviewing this tequila.

Lots of similarities to Buffalo Trace, but softer and smoother. Has the spicy cinnamon and light rye and red apples notes, but softer, fruitier, and richer from the agave vs corn and spent barrels. Definitely unique compared to other aged tequila with a more bourbon forward flavor profile.

Dry, earthy, herbal, low oak, no caramel or vanilla. Not smooth as their bottle implies, somewhat on the alcohol harsh side even after airing out. Disappointed for an “extra anejo”, if you have this on your label then you should expect smoothness with a nice touch of sweetness to round out the bitterness.

Sad part is you can’t mix due to the price point but technically should due to the low quality. Agreed look elsewhere for a real “Extra Añejo”.

I started drinking tequila about the time I joined the military. It was good ‘ol Jose Cuervo and it many of us know just how bad that is. I never warmed up to whiskey or any other hard liquors, but tequila was something that stuck with me all the way to now.

Over the years I have tried many different brands and at price points in the $60 or so for a bottle (Patron). Recently, I have been on a search for tequilas in the $20 range and some have been quite good and worth repeating, while others fell well short of being worth the buy.

Enter Olmeca Altos Reposado Tequila! I was a little skeptical since the price seemed cheap and I had never heard of this brand before a week ago. The screw off top made me think I was about to be disappointed until I took that first shot! Im not a sipper, more of a ripper 🙂 Mostly with salt and a slice of lime.

First time I slammed this back I was pleasantly surprised! It has a bit of bite to it, just a slight amount, not too much. Has a bit of a pepper after taste which I like (Cabo Wabo is similar for about twice the price).

Some tequilas leave a bad taste in your mouth but this isnt one of them. Long story short, this is well worth the purchase price and I hope it stays in the $20 range because its a no-brainer for me.

Delicious in a Margarita but even better on its own with ice. This was a revelation and might just be my new favourite tipple. My son tells me this is the real deal and I have to say I agree with him.

A store associate recommended this, but I was apprehensive considering she looked clueless when I was telling her about the tequilas I enjoy and what I look for in a good tequila. Should have trusted my judgment and ran to another associate that was more experienced with tequila.

This is by the WORST tequila I’ve ever had. The smell was so awful, we thought it had gone bad. Then we tasted it and realized it was some sort of flavored tequila with very obvious vanilla flavoring.

Just disgusting and tasted absolutely nothing like tequila. If you’re into Malibu rum as shots, then you may enjoy this. Also, the cap was broken and it was a pain to open and there were little black floating specks in it.

This may be palatable to the very young, those that haven’t acquired a palate for good tequila yet. Aww It’s the biggest tequila disappointment in a long time.

I was recommended this tequila and offered a sample. I’ve read the comments and agree with most people that this is a smooth tequila. This is of course is based off of my taste. I don’t agree that smooth means smooth to everyone.

And yes the vanilla flavor is the main thing you’ll taste. As someone who truly hates vanilla anything this flavor worked very well. I consider myself a tequila person and this was up there for me. I’m sure there is better out there but for now I think this is the best one I’ve personally had! My final comment is if you’re a tequila snob then you might not like it seeing the recent reviews for this but if you’re willing to try something new go for it!.

This tequila was recommended by the manager. I’m no expert, but I know what I like and what I don’t like. I asked for something smooth and sweet in a tequila. This thing burned the minute it touched my lips.

It was hard to swallow. The aftertaste was horrible, like pure gasoline. I imagine some people like that in a tequila, but for $50 I am very disappointed that I can’t drink this! A lot of people also like tequila because of the different style of the bottles they come in.

Having lived in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico for several years, the home of Tequila Sauza, I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy several tequilas. Gran Centenario is without a doubt the best bang for the buck.

There are many anejo tequilas out there that are better, but for much more money. This is THE Best moderately priced tequila out there. It’s our go to tequila in our home.

I am a tequila girl and have tried every tequila out there, my preferred one is Anejo. Can’t seem to drink blanco, maybe reposado, but mostly Anejo. This Centenario Anejo is by far the smoothest I have tried.

I thought that since it was under $30 it would be like any other cheap tequila that burns your throat and stomach. But this one is very smooth and don’t even need anything to chase it with. Tastes great with ice or no ice.

We usually like it in a shot glass. Def won’t be getting any $100+ tequila anymore.

I haven’t tasted $100. 00 tequilas, but I have tried many from 50ish dollars and down. Centenario Anejo is the nicest tasting and smooth tequila. It’s always in my liquor cabinet. Once Total Wine ran out.

I asked a clerk if they had another that tasted like it. He looked up the ingredients and said nope nothing else will taste like it. I highly recommend it. Another nice tasting tequila is Herradura.

I love this taquilla for a quality all around taquilla. If you want to make ranch waters, margaritas, shoot it, or sip it – it’s good for all. It will work as a sipping taquilla but won’t be nearly as good as your higher end ideal for sipping.

But the quality is high enough if you like drinks that are “taquilla forward” and not covered up by a lot of sugar and other flavors this will taste amazing. It’s relatively affordable in volume so in don’t feel bad using as a mixer too.

This is my every day go to.

This style brand bottle is in a league by itself honestly. When tasting other tequilas they burn your throat. The Ultra is truly relaxing and smooth to have after dinner and personally chill with. If you share it with others I recommend that you get a bottle for your guess.

I have found this bottle to be truthful and not a pure knockoff like others are. If you love to drink and relax Herradura truly has your back.
