20 Best Terminal Tackle Storage (2022 Updated)

Plano claims the configurations are limitless, but I think it could be improved. Only the 4x spacer has “side slots” to add either the 3x, 2x, and single dividers. There were time when I wish the 3x and 2x dividers had side slots.

This would be a very simple manufacturing change and would add even more flexibility. However, it is still better than the |fixed| systems out there.

Great concept and for the midsize (not deep or shallow box) the config really let’s you get all your tackle organized. The hardest part is deciding how to set it up; crankbait box, topwater, etc. Easy to use, divider parts seem to really lock in place and allow you to configure for whatever tackle you have and they stack really well.

I ended up getting 3 more and the terminal version.

Latch on one of weight lids broke first time I opened it. For the price it’s not worth it. Go with bass mafia terminal coffin, you won’t be disappointed. Plano edge jig and bladed jig box is 5 stars though.

I got this box to try and organize all my soft plastics. It is great because it has dividers and ample amount of room. I have not been able to test the seal in it yet but so far it has been rained on a few times and the inside has been kept dry so far.

These boxes are nowhere close to waterproof. Treat these as water resistant. Water will get inside if exposed to rain. Other than that, handy boxes for storage. I put small jigs in there.

Perfect fishing companion! Flies. Lures. Weighs. Bobbers. See what the box contains before opening. No more fumbling around in the bottom of my fishing bag for bobbers or opening various tins to see what is inside.

You can even load a little box up and leave your tackle box behind at the car. Nice tight seals keep the worry of opening in my bag and getting stuck with a barb.

Very disappointed. The quality of the box is good, but the design offers a very limited choice of configurations even with extra inserts. I purchase those too. Waste of money. Your better off with a Bass Mafia box with rust prevention tabs.

It holds more terminal tackle.

I don’t like it. This box is designed more for the US fisher. The containers are either too large (hooks/sinkers etc flop around) or the designs are too specific for my needs e. g. The three solid lid containers are great if you Texas/Carolina rig soft plastics but inefficient storage for any terminal tackle I use.

I love the concept and it’s well constructed but it does not provide me with the flexibility I was expecting. Plus it’s darn expensive too.

Very happy with this purchase. This storage box is extremely customizable. Interchangeable compartments allow me to include only the items needed for a given day – saving me time out on the water! The more time my lure is in the water.

I purchased these to hold tools and parts when going to the range. I really like the removable storage compartments and those are customizable. This offers so many varieties of storage for different sized parts it’s uncanny.

It’s easy to use and you can put stuff in the main compartments that you utilize more and I’m just thrilled with this product. This by far is one of the best tackle box type storage containers I’ve used.

This is perfect for crafts, tools, fishing tackle, or other small parts and pieces so you can stay organized. You can also see thru some of the compartments which is nice you can see some of the more used areas.

This is a big storage container too. Think of a full sized tool box. There’s so many compartments and ways to make it your own I really can’t recommend this more. I paid $40 for mine but knowing what I know now I’d pay the full retail price of $60 or more.

The quality is high and as much as I’ve used, opened and closed, taken out the compartments. it’s all held together great. Whoever engineered this thing did a great job.

I’m a float fisherman, and I’ve always been a little annoyed with most boxes on the market as they don’t seem to take into account the sizes and shapes of floats. The top compartment on the lid of this box offers spaces long enough for wagglers and deep enough for big steelhead floats and bodied drift beaters.

Other than that, I agree with much that has already been said about this box. Lots of well-organized storage for everything from cranks and spinners, hooks, rigs and rig-building supplies, tools, spare spools of line, etc.

There is a separate lid for the the primary top spinner storage, which is handy when you just want to select a spinner or crank without jostling all the other stuff around. WARNING: This box DOES NOT INCLUDE the five-compartment spinner storage box that fits into the compartment at lower right of the Plano 7771.

The box that is made to fit this compartment is the Plano 3504 box.

I bought this tackle box after my old one was stolen out of my truck over 20 years ago. I used it a lot for 5 years, then physical issues hit me and I did not fish for 15 years. Have gotten back into it.

I use it mostly at home to store everything in it. I have a small box to put in what I want to take fishing, taking just what I need for where and for what I am fishing. It is to big and heavy for me to take around with my power wheelchair.

But if I could I would just take this. I am looking for one bigger than my small one to take with me. A person without physical issues would have no problem using this as their main box. I came across this when I was looking for a bigger go with box and was surprised at first when I saw they still made it.

But then thought, why change it. It is great as is. Why change it? It is just great as it is.

This particular Plano box is made in both this 3700 Series format, and in the more compact 3600 Series, with a reduced capacity on the smaller box of about 19 baits. If you own a bass or species specific fishing boat of some brand these days, it is not uncommon to find you have at least one compartment with a rotomolded insert with side guides to securely hold about a half dozen of these stye storage boxes on their back edges with the latches facing up.

This is called the PALS system, and was developed with both Plano and Flambeau storage boxes in mind as the two have nearly identically-sized product offerings. To my knowledge, however, Plano is the only brand to have offered a “flat format” storage container with interior retainers for the upper spinnerbait wires as well as a molded “U” shaped retainer to hold the head of a spinnerbait just in front of the skirt collar.

If you have good quality SS wire forms on your baits, and you actually USE the baits in your working boat boxes, I don’t know of a more efficient storage system for this type tackle on the water. Common sense tells me that spring pressure on spinnerbait wire forms over a VERY long time in storage with no release or movement will make the wire brittle in some area, and I do not want to see $3 worth of swivels, blades, clevises, etc.

end up at the bottom of a lake because of metal fatigue. I should not have to elaborate on the quality sacrifices we have all experienced in our terminal and other tackle manufacture because of origin and the alleged higher costs to make products with the intent to last.

If you intend to store spinner or buzzbaits over an unknown or extended time, get a large hanging box and use them in your garage or wherever you store your backup/bulk tackle and have physical room to do so.

But, if you need to carry a few dozen choice blade baits out in your tackle locker and have them readily accessible, these are outstanding boxes and should last for years. Don’t forget to add a Zee Rust prevention tab inside and or drill one small hole in the bottom center of the box for drainage and evaporation of water from wet baits.

I ordered the Plano model 3707 from your website. Your website had a picture of the 3707 complete with a description. I already have two of this same model that I currently use. You sent me the smaller model 3607.

When I called customer service I was told you don’t have the 3707 so you sent me the 3607 and then told me it was less expensive. You did not deliver what you showed on your website. This is basically deceptive advertising.

I do not like order what I am looking for and the receiving something different.

Not functional for regular use. Lures spring under compression with only slight movement. Does not account for a variety of sizes and the slightest difference in design angles. Disappointment. Much better options.

Returning.

This tackle box is great for canoe tripping and fishing. Its small and allow you to bring enough tackle for whatever you might need. My favourite feature is that its double sided which allows me to organize my lures better and makes for easier access while changing baits in the canoe.

Great product. I can’t wait to use it again on my next trip in a few weeks. My only issue is that there are no rubber gussets around the edges of the lids so its not water-proof. It would be great if the company would make that change in the next version of their tackle box.

I received this tackle box as a Christmas gift. At first it looked great but then I opened it and realized that it was very poor quality. The folding trays inside felt unstable, as if they were about to come loose.

When I tried to close the tackle box the back corners of the lid would not sit properly on the bottom part of the box. I tried numerous times and only got it to close properly once (which included getting my finger pinched).

The worst part of it all is that the sticker on it said it was made in the U. S. A. , which used to be a sign of quality; apparently that is not always true now. I returned it and replaced it with a 3 tray Flambeau that is infinitely better quality.

The crazy part is that they are both entirely plastic, but one was garbage and the other not. In future I’ll avoid Plano plastic tackle boxes.

We love our tackle box and we have used it to take on a boat and pond fishing. It’s air tight to this day. Weather resistant and extremely sturdy. Enough compartments to get a long day of fishing in.

Prior to this purchase we had a few different types of hard case tackle boxes and they were all good but we didn’t get the longevity of them like this one including the way it still looks physically after many years of fishing with it.

Highly recommended from these two dedicated anglers.

These are really cute tackleboxes. Perfect for the beginner fisherman like my two nephews. The 70-pieces are a good array of things needed for creek or lake fishing. My tacklebox looks different than the picture in this rating but it’s the same style.

The box isn’t heavy duty but it’s not meant to be for an experienced fisherman. I’m happy with the product and price.

If you’ve never used these, your are in for a pleasant surprise. They come with all the dividers you need to make anywhere from 1-24 areas. You also don’t have to cut the dividers apart, they come in a little box ready to go.

Extremely very well made with metal pins in the hinges. You’ll never have to worry about one popping open either, best latch system I’ve seen yet. I was hesitant about the price, but am so glad I splurged.

Plano has a real winner here.

Works great if you are storing certain brands of 3/8oz and bigger jigs. Some 3/8oz and smaller jigs fall out of holders and flop around in box. Need to make some kind of insert to accommodate smaller head jigs.

I bought one of these specifically for my 1/4oz swim jigs and it’s useless, they don’t stay in place. I tried bunching up the skirts to get them to stay and that only works until you flip the box on it’s side, then they fall out and flop around box.

Could of bought a way cheaper box to get the same result.

The small crankbait box is a great idea for holding hard baits and the “fingers” work well for keeping everything secure. The rubber mat is attached to the box with a small plastic piece on each corner.

All 4 were broken on arrival, and 1 was broken on the replacement they sent. Mat needs to be held down or everything falls out of the box. I’ll glue it down but removal for cleaning would have been nice.

I expected better for the top of the line price tag.

This is a game changer. It’s pricey, but I’m hoping it’s worth it! I just moved my tackle into these boxes and I have to say they look sexy, the build quality seems very solid (we’ll have to see how the hinges on the lid fare in real-world use) and the moisture absorbing piece in each case seems like a great idea.

I love the handy labelling strip and the increased rigidity of the material seems to keep smaller things like hooks from going under the partitions like in cheaper units. 10/10 so far.

Been using 4 of the 3700 standard size and 1 3700 Flex boxes in a tackle bag for a couple months. These are extremely sturdy, the adjustability is great and the latches are very secure. The downside is the weight.

A standard 3700 Edge box weighs a pound more than a regular Plano 3700 box. Using 5 of the Edge boxes instead of the regular in a tackle bag adds 5 pounds to the bag. I believe these are the best thought out and best quality boxes on the market but if you are concerned about weight they might not be for you.

Another grip I have is they do not prevent migration of hooks. Every video I watched before purchase claimed that tackle would not migrate between compartments but it does.

I got this recently, so I can’t comment to its longevity or much about the performance, but I will answer two questions that I had before purchasing: 1) The small boxes that come with the 3700 Edge Terminal Tackle box kind of fit in the 3600, with some squeezing.

Basically you can shoe-horn in a few of the smaller clear-top boxes, but they are slightly too wide for the rows of the 3600, so they don’t fully seat, and you couldn’t put two next to each other in different rows, because the dividers have to flex to accept them.

And the dividers might break at some point due to the stress. Plano really missed the boat on this one. For a fancy high-end system, you’d think they might have made them compatible. I’m a fishing generalist, so for me one of those 3700s fits enough terminal tackle for several species and types of fishing.

It would be nice to pop a couple boxes out of the 3700, and ‘pack light’ with the 3600. 2) The 3600 is heartbreakingly close to fitting in the square hatches of the Hobie Pro Angler. The PA’s come with waterproof 3600’s in the square hatch, but the edge series is probably 1/8″ too long to fit.

They actually fit easily within the hatch itself, but the little insert that holds & pivots the tackle boxes (if you own a PA, you know the thing I’m talking about) is too small. Overall, the edge series seems nice, but I do have some concern about its impact resistance.

The super clear plastic seems like it might be more brittle than the normal dull, semi-opaque plastic that is used for most tackle boxes.

I got this as a father’s day present. I have lots of other tackle boxes/carrier’s but never considered one of these for some reason. I love this thing! It’s compact, convenient and easy to grab & go.

It has lots of compartments that are easily adjustable for whatever size item you want to put in them. It is also just the perfect size for taking out for a day or two on my kayak, it’s small enough to fit everything I need without taking up too much valuable space on the yak! Great item, stop thinking about it and put it in the Cart!.

The latches are not heavy duty but certainly adequate for use by my grandson. An everyday fisherman would be advised to purchase the higher grade satchel offered by Plano.

exactly the right size to use for a special species such as trout or perch ,. you can pack only what you need for that fish and not have to drag along the whole tackle box especially on hike to a special or secluded fishing spot.

sturdy handle and compartments.

I bought this container along with the small one. The small one is on top, and this one is on the bottom. First off, it’s BARELY any bigger than the small one. There is a larger compartment in the bigger one, but it doesn’t really make up for it.

Second, the latches are much more firm and tight (teehee) on the small container. On this one, they are loose as hell. Other than that, you’re really picking between compartment shape, rather than overall storage volume.

I almost always fish two finesse methods; slider fishing and senko. I have a small bag that came with my fishing canoe that two of these are a perfect fit for. I can stock them with a few trips worth of hooks, jigs, grubs and soft plastics.

Came with way more dividers than I needed. They don’t appear to be the sturdiest little boxes made, but they should last a while.

This fits the smallest tray Plano makes; the 3500 series. I use this to store mounting hardware for my electronics prototyping projects. They are typically 6-32 SAE and 4-40 SAE, and less than 4mm metric.

This “tackle box” has enough compartments to sort out every length of machine screw, and every diameter of washer. Plus, there is enough space for nylon hardware and spacers. I also own the 3600 series tray carrier from Plano for resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, etc.

And I have the 3700 series tray carrier for larger items, like fuse holders, binding posts, banana plugs, solderless lugs, volume controls, terminals, etc. The combined effect is that I have boxes with everything a tech needs to build a complete stereo amplifier.

Plano has changed the design since Customers complained about the handle and the retainer system for the front tray retainer. They even changed the drawers to the new “pro style” hinges and closures.

This is a better box, today, than the one some reviewers were disappointed in.

I bought this about 2 weeks ago because I’m starting to get into a Tabletop game called Star Wars: Armada, and with how small some of the pieces are, I wanted a good way to protect and tote the game out of it’s original packaging.

The Core set fit perfectly in just two cases and the huge top storage works for the Imperial ships and movement rulers. The ability to compartmentalize has really helped keep all the core pieces, Imperial, and Rebel ships to just about one box each, and with Still more room to expand.

You will be surprised with how much storage you have in this kit for the size. There is a good chance you won’t need to upgrade from this. Though for those using it for its created purpose, I wound recommend getting some Velcro to keep the boxes from sliding out if you are on the water, as they do slide out with little effort.

If you are like me, you simply cannot pass up the customization possible for Fishing, gaming, really the limit is your imagination. Remember. The Force will be with you. Always.

Bought this box to save room on our 4. 2m boat. Job done and we love it. No more two or three little tackle boxes in the way. The storage room is fine for us but no massive room for a huge selection of lures and plastics if you have a good range of the usual rigging equipment.

I just put the soft plastic stowaway into use last weekend and I am please with the convenience. I like to keep thing simple and organized on the water and this box lets me keep my jig heads/hooks and the soft plastics in their original bag all in one place.

I don’t really see the need for the internal bag clips since they hold the top (open) end of the bags so you have to remove the bag from the box to get a bait out. I carefully organized the box at home and then ripped all the bags out of the clips and didn’t use them again while I was fishing.

The clips only slowed me down when I wanted to make a change. I’m still please with the purchase and would buy it again.

Great product. Just be aware that the lids don’t close snuggly, so if you put hooks or small tackle items in the seperate sections, they can migrate to one of the others when you turn it upside down.

Also wider or bulky soft plastic packs may not fit.

I’m normally a big fan of Plano products and own several of their storage boxes and tackle boxes. Plano quality is normally top notch. This item seems very flimsy, loose fitting and rattles a lot. The latches don’t snap very tight and come open very easily.

Doesn’t seem like it’s going to hold up long. I’ll change my review if I’m wrong. I do like the layout, perfect for soft plastics, some jigheads and a few sundry item but the quality seems suspect. Maybe I just got a bad one.

I have the Plano 3600 series tackle box and I always struggled finding a spot in the plastic trays for spinners as they take up so much space. This bait box is the perfect way to store up to 22 spinner baits, I didn’t give it 5 stars as I would like to have a handle on the top of the box.

If you like to keep your tackle organized then you will love these boxes. Just don’t believe that your going to get up to 22 spinnerbaits in them. You would have a total mess and they would get tangled up very easily.

These are also way better than the smaller boxes that are only a couple of inches high. The spinnerbaits fit naturally in these boxes and aren’t forced. The way I use them is if your facing the front latch, if you pop it up and then lift the lid, you have three compartments.

Two on the outside and one in the middle. The blades go in the middle with the heads on the outside. I put two heads side by side in the front two slots, skip a slot, put one more head, skip a slot and put one head directly in the middle.

In the rear of the same row I put two heads side by side and then skip a slot and put in one more head. This allows me 7 heads in the same row for a total of 14 Spinnerbaits for both rows or the entire box.

When I’m pulling one out or putting one back in, I will utilize the extra slots that I left to move over the ones I’m not using so that the hooks and trailer hooks don’t get tangled on each other or the skirts.

It only takes a few extra seconds to do this and saves a lot of headaches.

Not sure what it says about me, but I own six of these packed full of spinnerbaits. A couple are at least 10 years old. Excellent product that works.

Love the convenience of this tackle box. Quick storage on the outside for frequently used lures, 2 shallow cup holders and the inside storage provides plenty of space for more items.

Great medium/large tackle box for the money. Holds a ton. Snaps on both sides hold the cover securely. Would have liked better versatility in sizing each slot, but no big deal. Walmart was $5 to $10 less than anyone else on this item.

I bought this as a make-up kit for myself. Works great. Our entire family fishes, so we also have several tackle boxes for tackle, this one included…works well there too.

Love these boxes! The shallower trays make it easier for smaller tackle, especially jig heads. The smaller box also means more room for more tackle boxes in my fishing bag. The only thing I don’t like is occasionally the locking clips pop off and you have to clip them back on.

Other than that, excellent item! My fiancée was very pleased!.

Great box concept, Average box is too tall, Too much wasted space. Thin boxes are just great. Keeps you more organized. The latches can easily fall out. Be careful. Very poor latch design. Plano designers fell asleep.

This crankbait box works really well for medium sized crankbaits. Most of my crankbaits are smaller and I can get 3 in one row. It’s alil tight but the hooks still don’t get tangled. I wish Plano would make a 3700 series box for small crankbaits.

I tend to have more smaller sized cranks over med. and large for bass fishing.

Plano bought out Falcon’s FTO crankbait organizers. I liked the Falcon boxes because there were very space efficient with moveable dividers and you could pack a lot of crankbaits into a small and flexible space.

The Plano FTO dividers are fixed, the small and medium crankbait boxes are much deeper, and thus much less space efficient thant the Falcons. The Plano FTO are nice, durable boxes, but the Falcon’s were a better buy.

If you are looking for flexible and space efficient storage for crank- and jerk- baits try the Plano 3771 Stowaway.

This is a v-shaped compartments. Hooks stay out of the way. Wouldn’t buy anything else. Way to go Plano.

Problem is one side does not close properly. No click noise that it it tight. Kinda have to push it out n to make sure it does not open. The thing is I have been using his box for 25 yrs as medication box.

I need to take more than 20 meds a day and I saw a friend use it years ago for her huge vitamins and asked where she got. Any sports store. It’s a tackle box!! Who knew! So mine finally broke and went to Big 5 in Los Angeles and they don’t carry them.

Would of been nice if it worked properly. I should of returned but honestly I could not be bothered and I needed it desperately.

I brought this one thinking i can pull my hook and weight in my pocket without carrying a heavy backpack. On the first day i put all my hook and weight that i need in it. Drive to the lake and pull the box out of my backpack.

The hook fall out of the box and when i put my hand in, a hook run thru the nail of my middle finger. Blood was everywhere by the time i unhook it. The lock system on this product suck so bad. everything fall out of it.

Dont buy it if you night fishing or have loose pocket.

I love these little Plano 3214 boxes. I have a number of them in the old school brown. A very handy size for snaps, swivel and other small necessities. They fit nicely in tackle bag pockets, wading vest or in just a jacket pocket.

I like the newer green color.
