20 Best Teva For Hiking (2022 Updated)

Several years ago, I purchased a Teva hiking shoe. It was the most comfortable shoe I ever wore, but, after years of hiking, it was wearing out. So I purchased this shoe, hoping for the same performance.

Unfortunately, there was a design change in the lacing system. The result is these shoes are uncomfortable to the point of being painful, due to pressure from the top laces on my insteps. I really like the look and construction of these shoes but I can’t wear them comfortably and am returning them.

I really, really wanted to like these shoes. They look great and are clearly well made. I love the large toe box because in the past I’ve found that my middle toe rubs against the end of the shoe even when the size is correct and the fit is otherwise good.

I thought that after wearing them a couple times that I would break them in and they would become more comfortable. This never happened. They just felt stiff and left my feet sore. So they’re going back to LL Bean.

I spent a couple of weekends in these. I bought them so I am able to drive and hike in them but also to be able to put them on and take them off easier when compared with hiking boots. So far they performed excellently.

I am also very pleased by them being breathable and keeping my feet cool despite hiking in hot weather. They seem rather roomy and I have wide feet. I was concerned that I may get blisters but in the end I was very comfortable after a 3 mile hike in sandy soil.

I would definitely buy them again.

Sturdy, overall comfortable sandal. Had to return, as one sandal rubbed the inside of my foot. I tried adjusting the straps tighter and looser, leaving a few days in between, as the rub left a small red mark after wearing for one hour.

Results were the same after adjustment. Upon very close inspection, it appeared the piping on the top of the inner sandal, just below my ankle bone, was stitched slightly higher than the other. This exposed more of the stitching of the sandal just below it, when compared to the other sandal.

Although all felt smooth to the touch of fingers, apparently this slight defect was enough to irritate my skin, as only one sandal was causing the problem. Perhaps others could have worn this sandal with no problem.

One other issue I noticed was that the sandal had a light “grip” on the surface that comes in contact with the bottom of the foot, that I found mildly irritating. I only wore the sandals for about 2 hours total, and only in the house, before returning.

These sandals were sturdy, and appeared to be good for land or water. I believe these would be great sandals for most people, but perhaps not my tender-footed 70-year old self! I give them 3 stars because other than the uncomfortable fit, they seemed very good.

However, I was unable to judge them for performance.

I bought a pair of these Teva sandals in 2015 in preparation for a 5 week trip to Guatemala for language school and travel. I wore these sandals almost exclusively the entire time, and I walked almost everywhere.

I was primarily in the historic area of Quetzaltenango (Xela), which had uneven cobblestone roads and crazy piecemeal sidewalks. We also had field trips out into the countryside, walking on more uneven cobblestone streets, as well as dirt roads further up into the highlands.

Toward the end of my trip, I traveled to Lake Atitlan, surrounded by volcanoes and villages with yes, you guessed it. more cobblestone streets, and most village streets rose sharply upward from the lake.

Hiking boots would have been appropriate, but my Teva sandals rose to the challenge every time. I once tried to wear my Crocs out on an errand, and almost twisted an ankle. The Teva sandals were comfortable and sturdy, and protected my feet on all my travels.

Sadly, after returning, I lost enough weight (60 lbs) that the Teva sandals no longer fit. I didn’t think that model was made anymore, but I just discovered it here. I don’t think that I will be able to return to Guatemala any time soon, but I could still probably use another pair of comfortable, dependable sandals.

Quality great. Snaps are annoying. Opening makes it more difficult to get into, and not as pleasant a feel on the ankle. The toe windows at the front are smaller than my previous version. (That’s my biggest complaint).

I had the previous version a decade at least, before they finally look too sad to wear except on the river. Toes cannot breath as well in these. Feet overall feel restricted in comparison to the previous version from a decade past.

I have many versions of Tevas and have been wearing for decades. These are the only ones I have every received and disliked. For love of feet, please please bring back the version of a decade past. I will buy them and donate these.

I’ve had my share of hiking sandals but none felt like sandals, just heavy vented shoes. I think my problem was buying hiking sandals from hiking shoe companies and not looking at sandal companies for hiking sandals.

My last pair (Keen), trapped rocks in the sandals, the sandals was so difficult to put on that I would suffer with the rocks under my foot rather than try to remove the sandals and put them back on. Most of my sandals have last 2-3 hikes before I gave up on them.

Not this Teva. I’ve worn the Hurricane XLT2 Teva on 4 hikes already and I’ve had zero issues. They feel like sandals and the sole has plenty of support and protection from the terrain. I’ve yet to stub my toe which was a big concern.

I’m in between sizes so got a size above per recommendation. When I got the sandals I was really worried it was too big but with three adjustable straps, it was never an issue. I slid my foot as far forward as possible and strapped down the heel strap so my foot wouldn’t slide and it hasn’t.

Another concern was the plastic triangle holding the straps was hitting a knuckle when I tried it on. But once on the trail it wasn’t an issue and I totally forgot about it. I’m really happy with this purchase.

I had been looking at this sandals for some time but they always sold out. If this one ever ware out, I’ll purchase the exact same one. No more shopping around.

It’s a shame – this product would easily be 5 stars if you could only adjust the front strap. Really poor design flaw. I guess I have “thin” feet up front because there’s about half an inch of space between my skin and the front strap (and I’m a 6′, 240lb weightlifter for context).

I saw another review say that the pre-adjusted strap is too tight. I understand that the single ankle strap is appealing for easy on-and-off but this is definitely at the expense of poor fit for many foot types.

I travel to Maine a lot and wouldn’t be able to wear these in the rocky water nor on light, rocky trails. With all of the extra space flopping around up front I would likely catch the front material on a rock and trip, and that’s what I bought these for, unfortunately.

I love TEVA’s products and this is a major miss! I would definitely recommend trying these on in person before ordering online. Bummer.

I have long been an advocate of minimalist shoes–zero drop, flexible, minimal support. But, recently I started experiencing plantar fasciitis, a painful heel condition. I was taking a trip and could tell the thin sole was not going to work for me as I walked any distance.

I found the cushier sole much more comfortable for me, and I wore them in and out of the salt water and canoe daily. Once on a long walk through a sandy area, I developed a blister with the sand rubbing between my foot and the strap, but that would probably happen with any sandal.

And they did develop a pretty bad odor at times. Fortunately, they were easy to wash and dried relatively quickly, so that was an easy fix. I still believe in the more “natural” shoe concept, but for now, this shoe has worked well for me.

I also like the extreme flexibility of having three adjustable straps that the velcro then firmly holds in place.

The Omnium 2 is my 3 – season choice of footware for hiking the many long Caminos de Santiago in Spain. Each pair lasts me 800+ miles, and then gets a few years of use at home before retirement. What other sandal gives you that kind of mileage? The synthetic uppers version dries quickly after a day of rain and/or creek crossings.

The recent addition of mesh over the front-facing openings allows your foot to breath while keeping the small stones and gravel out. My feet sweat alot and have always been extremely blister-prone under the weight of a pack from day one, but since I started wearing these (with socks) 8 years ago, I haven’t had a single blister.

I only wish that 1) they came with a deeper-lugged sole for better traction on steep loose ground as they age, and 2) they came in a wider variety of colors. But these are not complaints. These sandals are incredible.

I picked up these sandals to serve as my water shoes on a recent trip canoeing in the Boundary Waters. I was nervous about their ability to workout for portaging the canoe, but another camper who had done it before assured me it would be fine.

And wouldn’t you know it, it was! I didn’t buy these in advance enough to fully get used to where the straps land, but despite that (and after spending a while adjusting them), I only got a couple small blisters right at the end of the trip.

This was with constantly getting in and out of water and hiking bags or canoes through portages. I never felt like my feet got specifically tired because of my shoes. They stayed decently anchored even when trying to take big steps in water, or when my feet got stuck in deep mud.

They felt decently secure over wet surfaces and rocks (I didn’t slip any more than anyone else, at least. ) I’m looking forward to continuing to use these a lot at home as they look pretty nice, and they’ll probably be my go-to water shoes for most things going forward.

I bought these because I needed a hiking sandal for my recent hiking ventures. I can’t wear closed shoes for a while so I needed an open toe shoe that I could still hike in. We did two hiking trips to Yosemite and Glacier national parks, so we hiked daily while there.

We were averaging about 10 miles a day. Elevation gain varied from 400 feet to 3500 feet. These sandals did well hiking on level ground, however when it came to steep terrain, I felt like the grip wasn’t there, I had a few times where I would be slipping which made it difficult to get traction.

The sole of the sandal has some firmness but I think it didn’t have enough when trekking through rocks to give the foot support and not feel the rocks under the feet. I like the little padding on the straps of the sandal so the plastic and the straps don’t rub against your feet causing discomfort.

However, if your feet sweat you will have the issue of getting blisters, because I would wear my sandals with socks I would be ok but when I would take the sock off and hike in them and with the heat my feet would sweat and where the sandal sat on those spots that pressed against my feet it would rub my skin raw causing blisters.

So I will not be wearing them in the summer for hiking without socks and only use them for easy leveled and short hikes. I used them for biking too (10-20 miles) and they did ok but had to wear socks so I had more cushion on those pressure points and also so I didn’t get blisters.

I would not consider this a good hiking sandal for long and strenuous hikes, this is more for the causal walks out and maybe easy short hikes. I didn’t try them in water so I don’t know how they would perform in that way, So I would recommend them for daily use or easy hikes but for anything rugged and hard core, I would not recommend them.

I’ll give them this, they are cute sandals and they clean up easy, but only good for limited activities.

First off, let me say that I love the quality of the sandals. They are beautifully made and the straps adjusted well. The arch support worked well for me, and it felt good doing standing tasks. That said, the sandals were quite large, and I kept stepping on the toe and heel of the opposite one when turning.

I also have a hip issue, and the inner soles have a LOT of give, and this did not work for me. When the shoe landed, the cushy material on the inside sole made it feel like the ground was unsteady, and this was a deal – breaker.

If you have a hip issue, these might not be the shoe for you. Reluctantly, I finally have stopped trying to make them work and am returning them. To replace them I have purchased a pair of Mens’ Monhegan Sandals through this site, which were a better solution for me.

I bought these for a summer trip I just got back from last night that included Canada- Vancouver, Sunshine Coast, almost all of Southern Iceland, Croatia- Spilt, Krka & Plitvice National Parks, Dubrovnik, & Italy- Rome, and Amalfi Coast.

I was split between buying these and the vibra sole Universals and am quite pleased with my decision. The grip, the comfort, and the looks is what caught me with the Terra 5s overall. there was quite a lot of diversity of use and the climates varied immensely and these did the trick for each one- normal walks through HOT HOT ROME to let the dogs hang out to rainy windy trails up to the tops of waterfalls in Iceland.

In all cases, they were secure and served their purpose beater than intended. Only brought 2 pairs of shoes and the Tevas one because of packability but now has officially won a spot in my travel bag always because of how useful they were.

I purchased the 9 Black and usually buy a wide width. This boot is plenty wide enough. I bought it in my local DSW store. Purpose? For Fall and winter dog walking-over uneven, varied terrain. It is extremely comfortable, even though I don’t normally like wedges, this one is the exception-wide enough sole to support my whole foot and leg.

It is exactly as advertised-a commuter boot. Color is practical and weight is very light. Teva turns out highest quality consistently for my wide feet and rakish arch. Supportive and fine style for all ages.

Just got these shoes to replace a pair of winter sneaker boots that I’ve had for almost 7 years. They are cute, but the other reviews are correct: the ankle portion of the boot, it’s very very STIFF.

I might even go as far to say the ankle portion is uncomfortable. It feels tight and it feels like it’s rubbing in all of the wrong places– and I have super skinny ankles. I think what would have really helped in the design is to line the ankle portion of the boot with a really fluffy soft material–like Sherpa.

If it’s going to be a hiking boot it might need that stiffness. But they should make a version that’s just for wearing around town with a softer, more flexible ankle portion.

I love these. I bought these to keep me warm this winter and they exceeded my expectations. They have a grippy tread that was a little more than I was shopping for, but so happy to have. They are warm, but not bulky and don’t look like marshmallows.

I wore them on a long walk and short hike a few weeks ago. They have excellent arch support. No blisters, no problems.

These sandals couldn’t be more comfortable considering the multiple medical issues of my feet. The additional arch support in the Verra style is perfect; the Shoc Pad heel cushions absorb the impact of each step; and the front straps don’t cramp or pinch my toes.

Shortly after purchasing my first pair of the Verra style in black, I bought a pair of the blue ones. When initially trying them on, I thought the new blue ones fit exactly the same as the black ones I have been wearing for a couple of weeks, but because of someone’s 1-star review indicating that the blue/green (Arona Sagebrush) color was a full ½ size smaller than the black ones, I tried the blue ones on again, and indeed they are the same exact fit.

To be 100% sure, however, I conducted a couple of experiments. First, I took the left-foot shoe of my black pair and put it side-by-side on a level surface with the left shoe of the blue pair, placing the left black shoe to the right of the blue left shoe, and sure enough the black one visually appeared longer.

Then I reversed the two left shoes, placing the left black shoe to the left of the blue one, and then the blue shoe looked longer. No explanation for this phenomenon, but I could understand what that reviewer was referring to.

Since this seemed inconclusive after doing a second comparison using the black and blue right-foot shoes, I did one last test by using a lined legal pad, marking a couple of spots on the paper to be sure that the shoes would be placed exactly the same, and also put a metal ruler on a straight line near the bottom of the pad to ensure they were both measured from the exact same place, then drew a pencil outline of the black shoe and then the blue shoe.

The black shoe and the blue shoe measured exactly the same! They feel so awesome, even when worn all day long. The blue color is exactly as pictured online. They are so pretty, but more importantly, so comfortable!.

I’ve had these shoes for 6 years so this is a seasoned review. PROS – comfort – started off super cushy. Loved that I had a sturdy sandal to go hiking with or go in water and not worry they would slip off.

CONS – After so many years the cush isn’t so cushy, its aged and is kinda hard now. In the beginning I had to break in the shoe and my foot skin needed to toughen up. The suede little flaps under the straps are meant to protect your foot, but they actually just get pushed out of place during the walking/hiking leaving your foot exposed to the strap which can be a little rough & then painful on the sore red skin it’s created.

Once I wore these enough the skin on the top of my foot toughened and got used to it. SIZE – I’m a 7. 5, got the 7s as recommended, they fit but not perfectly, my heel is too close to the back edge of the shoe, 8s would have been too big.

THE FOOT SLUDGE – The grooves on the shoe also do catch a lot of dirt as other reviews mentioned. I would always have “foot sludge” on the bottom of my foot & shoe that I’d need to clean off after every wear, it also got stinky, and I don’t even have smelly feet.

Overall would give a 3. 5 start rating. Fills a need but could be better.

I was very hesitant to spend the money on these, I figured they would wear out quickly and not be very durable (I go through shoes and boots insanely quick), but boy am I glad I made that purchase! I have been absolutely blown away by these for the past 3 years.

Yes, I’ve been somehow wearing the same pair for 3 years and they’re only just now starting to get a bit slick on the bottom from wearing the tread down. They are more comfortable than any shoe or hiking boot I’ve ever had, I wear them any time I can as long as it’s not too cold out.

I had been planning to buy Chacos because, I don’t know, that seemed like the thing to do, I thought Chacos looked cool. But these Tevas are WAY more comfortable and usable. Chacos are so stiff and clunky I’d never be able to hike in them the way I have in these.

I can’t believe they haven’t broken or worn out after all the use. I’ll absolutely get another pair once these need replacing, I wouldn’t dream of trying anything else. I think they run true to size, or even are a bit big (at least the version of them 3 years ago).

I love how sleek and smooth this shoe is. I expect it will be Cary easy to clean and is water resistant. The only downside I see is that the fabric from which is it made so nicely is not elastic at all.

That means my left foot, which is a bit larger than my right, is pretty tight in the shoe. It’s tolerable with thin socks but I can see that it may become uncomfortable on longer walks in hot summer Italy.

I may melt small holes into the sides for better ventilation off that becomes an issue.

I’m not an avid hiker. okay, I’m not a hiker at all. but a recently planned trip to Belize had me researching shoes that would be suitable for exploring Mayan ruins! I did quite a bit of research and landed on the Teva Gateway.

Out of the box they fit well, hugged my foot but aren’t too tight. There is plenty of wiggle room in the toe box. Again, I’m not a professional hiker but I do a lot of walking. The trip is a week out, but I’ve put these shoes to the walking test for the past week or so and they have been great.

I’ve read a couple of reviews about them rubbing the back of the heel. I tested my shoes with two different low cut socks. The sock on the right that came up a little higher didn’t have an issue. The sock on my left foot that was a little lower cut did experience some rubbing, so I think it is just a matter of wearing the better socks.

I may also try a different insole just to see if I can amp the comfort level. These are a stylish but sensible shoe, and I’m excited to try them on the Belize terrain!.

I really like the look of these shoes! I got the black pair and I think they’re the perfect hybrid shoe for a clean, casual look while still being functional. I waited to write my review because I wanted to wait until I had worn them a few times.

I find these are great for me for days when I’m running a few errands, or maybe a quick walk. However, when I tried to wear them for a full day on my feet, I found they didn’t offer enough cushion/support and my feet were hurting at the end of the day.

I may try different insoles, but for someone who hasn’t had to do this for other shoes, it’s an unexpected extra cost. Overall, I do like the show-it’s lightweight, cute and has a good tread. I just think comfort could be improved a bit.

I’ve had these boots for two years now. I do daily trail walking/light hiking and they’re great for that. Very comfortable and supportive, and they’ve held up well. My feet feel happy in them. However water has always leaked in from where the leather and mesh meet on the widest part of the boot.

Also, if the mesh toe top gets wet it absorbs the water, it doesn’t roll off. If it’s cold out, I feel the cold water through the boot on my toes even if they don’t get wet. I don’t think it’s due to age, they’ve always been this way.

They could be a little wider at the widest point, IMO. I am 7. 5, wide foot small heel, high arches. I got size 8 and can’t wear them with thick socks. Any larger and they’d be too long in the toe. You can’t adjust the boot any wider with laces due to the tongue and sides being attached to be “waterproof.

” But the toe box is great, nice and roomy. One last complaint: the low ankle is comfortable and supportive, but wide open so lots of dirt, sand, gravel can kick up into them. In summary, I like these boots a lot but will probably look for something else when replacing them.

For those who trod the untroddable. Those who strive for confident grip. Those who insist upon silk linen, cloud like comfort in the harshest of Alby Mangle’s situations. Buy these ones. This is my second set of Teva Grand View Boots.

Last year, whilst travelling Australia on Bicycle and walking, I punished, scrapped, climbed, jumped and generally abused these boots. Every day. All day. They were my only set of footwear, and they stood proud and strong for the entire year.

They ARE comfortable from day one. They ARE waterproof. They ARE a little harder to slip onto your feet than some others brands. However they are also harder to slip off. This means at camp, you can have them completely untied and they are casual and comfy.

Lace them up and they are ready for business.

I purchased these for a road trip though Utah to easily hike and camp. Pros: 1. Easy to wear the first time you wear them. I didn’t get blisters and it was easy to walk up a gravel hill multiple times.

2. Flexible boot meaning it moved with my foot. Some hiking boots are super stiff. These feel like a cross between a shoe and a boot. 3. Good looking Things to consider, but these are still my fav hiking boot to date so I would still buy and recommend them: 1.

The toe area is really spacious, it weirds me out when I think about it, but when I don’t think about it, it’s nice to have that flexibility in the toes. I can tighten the boot and ankle but the shoelaces don’t go down to the toes themselves.

I grew up in the 90s where you tie your foot into your shoe so it can’t move at all, so this spaciousness just feels strange but also feels like freedom for my toes and the ball of my foot. Now, if I read this review before buying them, I wouldn’t have bought them.

So if you like your foot locked into a shoe but you think these are cute, get them anyway! 2. They run big. I’ve never worn larger than a size 7 shoe, yet the 7. 5 or 8 is the best fit due to my toes hitting the size 7 shoe.

I went with 7. 5 which gives me just a bit of room between my tip toes and the shoe. 3. They are kind of hard to tie tight. There’s something about the boot lace-ups that make it hard to reallllllly lock your foot in.

I do it, but it takes some effort.

I’m in love with these new shoes – and I must say breaking a new pair has always been a problem for me (I’d get blisters after wearing home slippers, seriously). I only wore them a couple of times before the hike today and I can’t believe how commutable they are.

They are pretty light but the sole is sturdy and provides good traction. We did a moderate hike (about a 6. 5 mile, 900 elevation gain) – one part was a 15 minute downhill slope and they did a great job.

Incredibly comfortable and not even a hint of blisters! I got a pair in black and they look pretty too – so rare for hiking shoes.

I have hard-to-fit feet—narrow in the heel but the front is medium width so I didn’t have high expectations that these would fit well when I tried them on and I was pleasantly surprised! They are very comfortable, don’t slip on my heels, and give my toes plenty of room.

I found they run a bit big—I usually wear a 9 but needed an 8. 5. Been wearing them several weeks now and no complaints. They don’t have as much support as a running shoe or cross-trainer, but that’s not the purpose of these shoes.

Love how easy on and off they are, with nothing to tie.

I have been buying Teva sandals for years and was looking for a new walking shoe. I tried on the 11s in the store because I’m normally a 10. 5 in other brands but they were too big. Ordered a size 10 and they’re too narrow in the forefoot.

I have slight bunions too and even with the mesh fabric it just didn’t work for me. Honestly for the price of the shoe I’m not sure how long the mesh would really stand up to wear and tear. I don’t understand why brands are making shoes so flimsy.

I don’t want to buy a new pair of shoes every 6 months.

For me (7. 5M) , these run True to Size and Width. When I first slipped them on they felt a little narrow but, I loosened the shoe strings a bit and that’s when they felt like a normal Medium Width. I’ve been looking for quite awhile for a pair of Trail Shoes to wear while traveling in our RV.

There is not much arch support, doesn’t have an actual padded insole for cushion comfort, feels secure on my feet for stability and my feet didn’t get wet when I walked through some shallow puddles. I’ve never purchased this Brand before so it was hopeful thinking on my part that these would work out for me.

I wouldn’t say these are super comfortable by any means but I liked the way they looked. Once I put a quality insert in these, I believe they will be perfect (for me). I would recommend these to outdoorsy type people who need an in between Narrow to Medium width fit who may or may not need to adjust the shoestrings.

Love the colors on these.

For years I have struggled with getting the right fit for hiking boots. It was always a compromise to get the right fitting boot and one that I liked the looks and wasn’t too heavy. I had just about given up when I decided to try on these Tevas.

Like a well fit glove they slid on my feet, laced them up with ease and began to walk. Soooo good, in the store that is. Took them out hiking in the cold Michigan weather and they not only felt good, but fit so sublime! Normally, I would have considered a boot with lots of toe room to be sloppy fitting and not good on downhills, but there is something about this boot that just hold my foot in place and lets my toes wiggle and breath, yet holds my heel in place with no slipping.

I have forgone my snow boots for the most part and only wear these outdoors. Great fit! Great looks! Superb quality! Love ’em!.

I was a big fan of the 4319 leather walking shoe that was available 10 years ago. Wasn’t happy to see it go away. I bought a Teva shoe similar to the one i’m reviewing to replace the 4319 about 5 years ago.

It serviced me well on my travels until worn out. Last year I had trouble finding a Teva that I really liked, bought and returned a few models. Happy to report that this shoe fits, feels and treks like the 4319 of old.

Good fit to the size, the sole is cushioned but not spongy. Also the sole has good flexibility for comfortable trekking. No trekking going on now, but look forward to some 2021 trekking outings with the Venture dragging me in tow.

Next up: Morocco.

I bought these for a trip to the Galapagos. It was an expedition-type trip, with lots of wet landings from Zodiacs followed by hikes into the interior. I needed something that I could wade in and then hike, to avoid carrying shoes and socks and having to change on sandy beaches.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out at all. Intended to protect the foot from abrasion, each strap is backed by multiple pieces of padded material. The material tended to curl down, into the top of my foot.

The first (and only) time I wore them, that material began wearing away the skin after only 100 yards. By the end of a short hike, my foot was bleeding under the front strap. That was last fall. Just now, I put them on again before writing this review.

Almost immediately, the left sandal rubbed a bright red spot into the skin under the forefoot strap. Also, the forefoot straps are too long. One of them hangs out a full inch beyond the sole when I wear it.

Other reviewers seem to like these sandals. For me, they have a terminal design flaw.

I hike northern AZ and southern Utah frequently. With that said I really wanted these sandals to work because of the soles and the quick drying of the materials. The fit was fine I normally wear a size 9-1/2 and I usually do well with Teva’s size 9.

The fit as far as the foot bed was okay. Wherein lies the problem at least for me was that the outside buckle on both sandals was too high and they bit into my ankle immediately. I have 4 pairs of Tevas and you would think that Teva woulld realize that that with a soft sunken sole in the heel that they should not fit the buckle higher than they do on other sandals.

As the title intimates, I really wanted to like them but I had to return them.

The photo of this item is considerably different from the item actually received. The website shows these sandals as having multiple white/light gray highlights: midsole, strap tabs, strap retaining pieces and the TEVA label itself.

The item received had dark gray in all these places making the sandal look virtually completely black (the logo was yellow). Additionally, the straps were very stiff. I’ve owned lots of TEVA brand shoes and sandals but never received an item that was misrepresented.

Caveat emptor.

I just got my second pair of Teva Riva Events, after having my first pair for three years. The uppers on my older pair are still in completely good condition. The lug patterns on the soles are 2/3 worn, but there’s still plenty of tread for most purposes.

The only noticeable change between model years is that lacing eyelets are spread out farther on the newer model, so that it’s better for snugging the shoe up around the foot – a good change. Otherwise, the hiking shoe model I just bought (April 2015) is pretty much identical to the shoe I got three years ago.

I use the shoes for trail running and hiking in the foothills of Boulder’s Flatirons. They’re excellent in rocks, roots, boulders, steeps, snow, slush, mud, water puddles, and dirt, and they hold Microspikes and Ice Trekkers in place for running on ice & snow.

The Vibram soles work well on their own, without traction devices, on wet, slippery, and sloped surfaces of all kinds. Sharp, pointy rocks aren’t an issue with the Tevas. Their weight isn’t much more than high tech shoes with fabric uppers.

It takes quite a workout in the snow, usualy 2 hours or more, before the leather uppers start holding moisture, but the insides stay dry. I did online research, and then tried on several brands, and no others compared.

I chose the Tevas, hands down. They have a snug and secure fit and feel that surpassed the other brands, even those which seemed higher tech. I also wear them in town most every day during winter, in cold temperatures and in all but the deepest snow.

When driving, the boots don’t seem bulky, and shifting and braking are easy. And, they look good with jeans. The Rivas are solid, versatile, and traditionally good-looking, and they deliver top performance in all uses.

Wanted a “warm weather” hiking boot/shoe so ordered a size 9 which I thought should be about right with thinner socks. The fit was way too small with my toes touching the front of the shoe. Asked BPS about exchanging for a size 10 but was told I was unable to and had to return the shoe and order over again.

I paid for this with 2 BPS gift cards and was also told it would be approx 6-8 weeks to be reimbursed, SIX to EIGHT weeks, took about seven. Couldn’t understand why I couldn’t easily exchange it and why it takes 6-8 weeks to be reimbursed.

Thought very unacceptable. As for the shoe, it looked really nice and would probably have been exactly what I wanted. Unable to really recommend it since I never really got to use the shoe.

Because of some problems with my left foot, I have trouble finding shoes that are comfortable to walk in — most shoes seem to be designed to put pressure in the worst possible place. The Riva Event shoes have been the only shoes that I can wear without any pain.

I have bought a number of pairs over the years, using each pair until the support and the sole wear out. However, it has been more and more difficult to find these shoes in the last year or so. That’s why I bought three pairs this time.

I wish that Teva would continue to make these shoes, especially in my favorite colour — “Beluga. ” If these shoes are going to. E completely discontinued, then I wish that someone would direct me to a shoe with similar construction.

I also wish that these shoes came in a basic black version, so that I could wear them at somewhat formal occasions.

I got these for my dad for his birthday. He’s very hard to shop for because he has very particular style and loves to express himself through his attire! He also has flat feet and struggles to find shoes that have the right level of support and usually ends up having expensive custom orthotics made, so it’s no small thing when I say the man LOVES THESE SHOES.

He’s worn them every day since he got them. They’re perfect for daily wear and he swears they’re the most comfortable shoes he’s ever owned. And they look great too! I’m considering getting the womens ones for myself!.

These are some of the most comfortable walking shoes I have. They will also be very cool for the summer. The tread seems to be long wearing. The knocks are either subjective or minor. The white on the sole will get dirty if you abuse them.

(like walking in bud) and the styling is not exactly what I thought. The green is brighter. But that is very subjective.

I bought these because my left ankle is pronated. These shoes give me incredible support around my ankle and arches. Teva is literally the only shoe and sandal that fits my size 11 feet perfectly. I live in Teva sandals 9 months out of the year and now I will wear the boots in the winter.

I love these sandals! I have the sage color and they are awesome. Seriously so comfortable, I wear them everywhere and get compliments! I’ve worn these around the yard, to the beach, on a hike and out on the town.

I am not a fan of the original tevas, in my opinion this style is way better. I did research before buying and it paid off, for me they are perfect. The tread has traction, the sole has a substantial cushioning and the straps have additional padding against your skin.

I’m so glad that they are offered in sage, I love that color. I highly recommend these and will be purchasing another pair. Please make more colors, three options are not enough!!!.

I bought these about two years ago and have hiked miles and miles in them. I’ve worn them on day hikes and backpacking trips. Yesterday, I did a 9. 5 mile hike and today my feet are killing me, which unfortunately, has been a common outcome of distance hikes for me in these.

I would say these can be great shoes but definitely not go-to boots for all your hiking needs That said, they are waterproof, I’ve forded streams and stepped directly into puddles that were deeper than I thought they’d be, my feet always come up dry.

They’re also quite durable, the color has faded but the seams and soles are in good nick; the boot remains intact. I’ve tried different levels of sock thickness, lacing configurations and even pretaping my hotspots but consistently around mile 3-4 is when my feet start to throb.

If you buy these, use them on easy, short trails and carry a light pack.

I really liked the way they looked, but some things never change. Whatever proprietary waterproofing Teva uses just does not breath at all. After a 7. 5 mile moderate shed hunt, my feet were soaked. They looked like they had been in the tub for a few hours.

I had a pair of Teva Raith’s a few years ago with the same issue. No point in having waterproof shoes if they just leave your feet wet from sweat. On top of that, my heels were all over the place in these.

Combined with the wet, I developed 4 blisters, one on each side of both heels. Either use a more breathable membrane or no waterproofing at all. This was my last attempt at anything Teva. Sent them back.

Just picked these up from teva. com last week. Going to go into detail on what Teva did well and what could be changed. On what they did well: The heel area of the midsole is curved upward at the very back.

This allows the heel to strike more naturally which is to say -right under the heel. Comparing this build to that of the Arrowood Riva, the Riva’s heel extends beyond the back of the foot which causes the back of the shoe to buckle in behind the heel.

For me anyways, my right heel always feels a little loose compared to my right so the fact that the Ridgeview mid puts the heel strike under the heel is a win over the Arrowood Riva( which I wore for a few days).

The Ridgeview is WIDE! I wear a 12 B in work boots so I put a thin doctor sholls odor eater under the Teva insole to help shim the foot up. SIZING- I wear a size 12 in everything except for Tevas. Size 13 for Teva.

I tried a size 12 and my toe went right to the front of the boot. Design wise I feel that Teva should have used the same leather trim material used on the boot as the tongue material also instead of the scrunchy polyester weave they went with.

The lace width is perfect, the eyelets aren’t too close together across the foot. The amount of outsole on the bottom towards the back concerns me. It ends up in a very thin strip clued to the mid soul.

Hopefully this won’t peel off, time will tell. Also if they wanted to effectively put their branding on it, that little piece of fabric that folds down on the uppers is not a good spot. They should have engraved TEVA in yellow on the outside of the toe bumper.

These are Boo ts with a lot of cushion to them And the midsole sort of looks like that off of a Hoka shoe. So far they seem to be pretty breathable even with the waterproof lining but we haven’t gotten into the thick of summer quite yet.

I would say these are much more breathable already than the Arrowood Riva’s’s that I wore for a few days. I may update the rating as time goes on.
