20 Best Texture Hopper Gun (2022 Updated)

The spray portion and sizes are good. It is unsatisfactory as the air is constantly running and had to be controlled by the valve on the handle NOT the trigger alone. My compressor is constantly running in order to keep up with the airflow.

The trigger should by the ONLY control of airflow! It is cumbersome to try and control the hopper, the trigger and the air valve while spraying even a small room. I am highly disappointed in this sprayer and would NOT recommend it.

I just had a little job to do where a contractor said it would cost me around $2,000. What a jerk trying to rip me off like that. This was inexpensive, around $25, and it took 30 minutes of my time. Results were pretty impressive and I was trying to repair a few spots and blend it in.

and unless you’re purposely looking for the spot repair, you can’t tell its there! Clean up of the gun took me 30 seconds with a hose. maybe have taken a full minute in a sink, lol!.

its the lower price i saw, it looks like working with my $30 1/3HP hot dog air compressor. However, I am not sure it is the correct design or defective, as long as I turn on the valve at the bottom, the air always brows out.

I have to immediately pull the trigger or i have to waste the air pressure. Especially, I am only using a cheap compressor, that is only 3Gal, it will be good if the design can let the air blows out when only pulling the trigger.

It wasn’t until I started spraying that I really appreciated the beautiful consistent finish that I got. It’s fast and efficient. I really like how you can change directions of the nozzle to get the spindles.

I learned a lot about how important cleaning is but it works better if you keep it clean. After staining, I use mineral spirits after I clean out the cup and it really cleaned it in soapy water. But use the little brush that comes with it too.

This is great tool for painting furniture and we have a lot of other craft projects. Wipe off the nozzle with a wet paper towel while you’re painting and the spray is so consistant. It’s easy to clean too.

The demo showed me that power tools are not just for men! The Studio Pro is easy to use and light weight. Makes small and large projects easy! I have the ability to make custom colors for my unique projects.

I bought this sprayer to paint a new room I just drywalled. It applied the PVA primer well once I turned up the pressure a bit using the 515 tip. Coverage was very good and even. There was quite a bit of overspray, probably due to the tip size and pressure setting.

It really wasn’t a problem because I was priming both the walls and ceilings. The next day, I painted the ceilings using a 415 and the regular setting with a good quality ceiling paint. I always hate painting ceilings with a roller because it always seems impossible to not leave roller marks.

This sprayer left the perfectly painted ceiling. Even coat and great coverage. This alone made the Graco worth it for me. For the walls, I used the Magnum roller attachment with the ½” nap pad. This also worked well and cut the painting time by at least half.

It took a bit to figure out when to press the trigger to feed more paint. In the end, it worked very well with very few thin areas that had to be touched up. The bad is the same with all hose sprayers- clean up.

Even with the hose connection to the pick-up tube and running the sprayer, it still takes a long time to clean the sprayer tubes, screen, gun, hose outside, sprayer outside, 2 pails, roller attachment and various pieces.

On the last day, the outside temps dropped into the 20s which made it worse trying to clean everything and keep stuff from freezing. Again, the Graco is no worse than any other hose sprayer but it’s what makes using a hose sprayer a bummer.

I have used different types of paint sprayers before. Mostly compressed air types and a few airless. I had used a Black and Decker model but got tired of the noise, inability to spray heavy materials without thinning, and the constant need to refill the hopper.

This Magnum was a true pleasure to use. As with all things, you need to prepare, prepare, prepare, your job site. Invest in good masking tape and a masker and masking paper or masking plastic. I began on a two story cabin with a normal amount of openings, windows, doors, etcetera.

Taped all the doors and windows, and taped the eves/overhangs. Removed all lighting features and outlet covers and masked, and raked the landscaping back to protect from overspray. Once complete, I originally intended to use some original paint leftover from prior paint jobs.

Not my best move. Even though I only clogged up twice, my pressure and spread/spray seemed a bit off and I thought that it was the Magnum and my settings were off. Not so. Opened up a brand new, fresh mixed 5 gallon pail of Max Bond Exterior Satin and set the tubes in it and went to town.

Phenomenal! Once I had the pressure set right, the paint went on faster than I could move around. Up and down the scaffolding I went and it never even slowed down. The machine itself is so quiet and I opted for the extra 50 feet of hose, best investment for the unit! Rarely had to move the unit around as I painted.

Finished a 30 foot two story wall in about 15 minutes! 15 minutes for one coat! Just remember to prepare, prepare, prepare your surfaces and protect your surfaces from overspray and you will fly through the paint.

10 gallons later, 1 guy, 1 two story cabin and 1 12×8 shed, and one weekend, oh, and three coats of paint, yeah, three! Place looks like a million bucks. Bravo. I can’t wait to use this to prime the interior walls of a house we sheet rocked and are rehabilitating.

Well done. If you’re like me, and hired out on occasion for projects and painting jobs on the light duty side, you want this tool in your arsenal. Get you one!.

Honestly, I hate painting. I’d rather dig a ditch. I have never used any type of spray equipment in my life. Always brush, and roller. So we’re planning on selling this home, and a lot of painting will need to be performed outside, and inside.

Lived here 26 years, and no paint has ever been applied since the original building contractor painted the walls in 1995. As part of the selling punch list, I had to rebuild my deck from the ground up.

So after I finished reconstructing it, I thought I’d borrow my sons spray equipment (Not Graco). Wow before getting a chance to use it, I had to spend a complete day disassembling, and cleaning all the pieces.

It wouldn’t spray water on the first attempt using it. After thoroughly cleaning everything, I tested it again. Well the spray pattern was beautiful, but the gun would not stop leaking. I eventually contacted the equipment manufacture because it was still under warranty.

The tech. informed me that the gun was at fault, and was not repairable. They would send a new gun after I proved it was leaking as I told them, and it was still under warranty. I still can’t stain the deck, so I started researching sprayers online.

After 2 days I ended up buying my Magnum X5. Now as I said earlier, I’ve never used any spray equipment other then a can of Rust-Oleum. Thank you Graco for all the videos. I watched everyone of them.

So being a little timid I started spraying the stain on the deck, after masking all the areas of course. Man, I thought I was a rock star. This deck looks pretty good for a amateur. Anyways after 3 gallons of Valspar semi transparent stain, I finished.

Started cleanup ritual immediately, and to my surprise, all the equipment cleaned up nicely. Little bit of stain adhered to the tygon suction hose. No big deal, just a little bit. Flushing is a breeze with the garden hose hookup capability.

So I’m rethinking my hated of painting now that I have this bad boy. Really save me so much time. 200 sq. ft. of deck, 3 ft. tall railings, 100 spindles, and 4 steps, all stained within 1. 5 hours. I still need more practice, and I’ll get it when I start painting the walls inside.

Side note: Sure would be cool if you had an APP for the different tip selection. Anyway, thanks Graco.

Works great and fits on various spray cans. Exactly what I was looking for. After spraying about 2-3 cans without this, it starts cramping up your finger. With this makes it so much more comfortable for those jobs that require lots of painting(or spraying, depending on what type of spray cans you put in).

Also reasonably priced compared to some other models that I have seen that do the same thing.

I paint miniatures for wargames. I use Kryon paints to prime my models, but it has always been difficult for me to gauge how much paint I’m actually putting on them. With this handle I can precisely control the paint and not worry about clogging up the details on the miniatures.

This is a must buy if you prime models with a rattle can.

When I discovered this, it was a “game changer” for me. I use spray paint a lot and it hurts my hands and I tend to get really messy. This gadget controls the flow in an ergonomic way and you get better results with your paining.

Bought a $110 Wagner gun and luckily looked at it before I used it. Really didn’t have any adjustments other than 3 plastic rings to allow different sized openings. Blew air the whole time at the same rate.

I was patching a 6’x6’ area of ceiling where I removed a wall to open up a kitchen. I needed to match 26 year old popcorn texture in a main area. I saw this gun for $19. 99 on sale and thought at least it had the ability to adjust airflow (and size like the Wagner) so why not try.

Got it out, added a cut-off valve, and test sprayed for about 2 minutes outside on scrap. Brought it inside and 8-10 minutes later I was finished. Perfectly matched the old pattern. Best $20 I ever spent.

If it never worked again I’m totally satisfied.

Absolutely love love this tool. Works wonderful. The only thing is you have to make sure you don’t get expired texture bags. It clogs, just need a paper clip to unclog. Super easy to unclog though. I do wish they had bigger bags of mud and it wasn’t as pricey.

$8 a bag is steep, but then again it’s not meant to texture a whole house. But I did texture a whole room and a whole kitchen. I do general or remodeling often, but I don’t always do texture and this for is the perfect tool for my arensel.

ITS ONE TOOL YOU MUST HAVE. Overall rate it a 4 because of the size of the and cost of the bags. Amazing tool.

I’ve been in the painting trades for many years. This is the first product I’ve used that emulates the orange peel texture in my house that was originally put on in 1979. Take it outside and practice on a big sheet of blank cardboard.

I’m only using it to blend old walls in and not trying to do a whole house, this is important as this is not a commercial production tool.

This is the easiest gun set up i have ever used. No need for a hopper, tons of mud mixing. Easy clean up. I would recommend this to anyone who is home remodeling. Wish this was out years ago! Just watch there video and go!.

I bought this sprayer based on videos i searched. Started off fairly well with setup and such. Mixed the mud to the recommended consistency. And that’s where problems started. I started with the smallest hole nozzle.

Nothing came out. I figured the mud was too thick so I emptied the hopper and remixed the mud again. Tried once more. No luck. Tried woth the middle size nozzle, same issue. Used the largest size one and finally had some Mudd coming thru.

However, the trigger on this machine requires superhuman hand strength! If you’re spraying a ceiling, it will take some time as you need to take numerous breaks because your fingers reach a point where you don’t have the strength to squeeze! I have other Wagner tools and am quite satisfied but will have to pass on this machine.

I took out a wall between the dining room and living room and had to apply popcorn texture to that part of the ceiling. I tried with the aerosol cans with mixed results. I read the review on this product and decided to give it a try.

I am not an expert or even particularly handy. Read the instructions! Mix the mud as per directions. PRACTICE on a piece of wood or cardboard. Be patient and do not try to do the entire job in one pass.

The hardest part is learning to control the trigger. it controls the flow rate of the mud. My first attempt was pretty much perfect. I know where my 9 foot by 1 foot patch is, but I cannot see it. Everything blended really well and the patch looks like the original.

This is an amazingly good product!.

Pretty stout unit. My only major gripe is that it really needs some sort of valve between the hopper and gun. You’re in trouble if you find a clog….so mix and mix some more.

Very good quality and works well. Also you must be experienced to use such tools.

This air hopper gun worked excellent , very easy to use and it seamed to use less air pressure then previous guns I have used . Would highly recommend it. A great bye!

Update. Used it. Easy to use and marvelous results. If your doing any drywall repairs you need this. It made applying texture easy and easy clean up. Very accurate with application of texture. Get this!.

I tried many different techniques but this worked the best and easiest.

This tool is just right for touch ups and patch repair. The texture itself says it will cover 30 sq ft. NOT. More like 15 for a normal job, but I still like it

My brother needed help remodeling his house prior to selling it. I was so impressed with this gun that I purchased two more. Some things to note: 1. You must use a high volume air compressor or you will always be waiting for it to catch up.

2. Thin the paint to milk like consistency. You are trying to atomize the paint for a smooth finish. The only way to do that is to have the paint as thin as milk. 3. Strain the paint as you pour it from the mixing container into the spray cup on the gun.

4. Set the air pressure to around 20 psi. And make sure that the air coming out of the air compressor doesn’t have ANY water in it. Water blowing through the air hose will ruin your finish. 5. Wear a real respirator that has replaceable cartridges.

Your lungs are worth the expense. While you are at it, apply a lot of lotion to your exposed skin, you will thank me when you are cleaning up if you do. 6. Buy several pairs of the cheap safety glasses to wear to protect your eyes.

When you can’t see out of them, don’t try to clean them, just throw them away and put on another pair. 7. Buy QUALITY paint. Cheap paint doesn’t have the amount of pigment that the good paint has. Less pigment means less coverage.

8. Use something like Penetrol or Floetrol to add to your paint. It helps extend the wet edge so you won’t have the dry lap marks that can happen if you only use thinner.

I’m new to large paint guns. The reviews said this thing is great. I got a few (reviews suggested they last until they don’t so throw it away), wait for the frequent sales. I’m still on my 1st, used it for 10 or so spray sessions, mostly 2-part epoxy primer and a few 2-part epoxy varnish sessions over the past year or so.

I clean it properly after use and leave it unassembled until my next use. When it breaks I have 2 more ready to go. As per the reviews, break it down and degrease it before the first use and remove any of the white sealer if present.

I don’t plan any fancy high gloss finishes but for varnish and primer on my aircraft parts it’s as good as I need.

Used this to cover a blockwork wall and step risers. Worked a treat once I’d got the mix right, but goes everywhere. Either thoroughly cover up or fit treads after!

My Devilbiss Cvi guns make my hand say “ahhhh”. Like most Chinese knock-off guns, the Astro Euro digs into your ring finger. Devilbiss gun is much nicer but at an unbearable cost. Around here, it is hard to get parts for devilbiss, so I digress into the Chinese knock-offs.

Wishing they would get these knock-offs really right. This is close. Update: We like these guns better after getting used to them. Easier to clean than the Devilbiss. Far fewer parts. No plastic parts in the tip.

All in all, a good gun and worth the money. Go ahead and install a 3M PPS 2. 0 disposable cup system and gun mount air regulator. Nice finish. Very light. Recommended – especially for heavy bodied industrial paints.

I purchased this gun 1. 7 tip for high build primer to place guide coat, final block sand 400 to get paint ready. The plastic filter is never used. Great fan, very low bounce back and over spray at 22PSI.

I am going with 3M PPS 2 cup system for no drip spaying over head & upside down for excellent rocker panel cover. After 1 coat on full size truck & no fan, there was no fog of paint. See Y. T. Paint Society, Garage Noise for reviews.

Hard coating outside & in passages. Water born paint no problem. Better than Black Widow from HF. Wish the would sell tip/needle kits so I can add a 1. 3mm for product & shop temps.

This sprayer is very useful for small projects. Big items not so much. So I used it for some craft items at the church so the kids could take them home for there parents to see. The parents loved the items and some asked what I used so I showed them this sprayer.

I also told them I have your other sprayers and my husband and I are very happy with all your sprayers for our big jobs and small ones. Thank you for making good products. Because now a day it’s hard to find well made products.

IšverstiShow in original languageI bought this after returning another brand that was useless. I will start with customer service which was beyond exceptional. I phoned and talked about the use of the paint sprayer with the Behr paint, and which models would be best.

I was recommended a model that I ended up not being able to get locally, so WHILE IN THE STORE, I phoned Wagner for other suggestions, I told them which models were available, and the great gentleman I was talking too recommended this one.

He talked to me about how to dilute the paint if needed and to add Floetrol. It has been BRILLIANT. I only wish I could get an extra container and lids up here in Canada. The paint sprayer has been awesome, from the get go.

Clean up is a breeze, and it sprays a wonderful and even coat on my cupboard doors.

Used with Thompson seal/stain product and it made me look like a pro the first time I used it ! Very happy and I’m going to follow the grease sealer instructions so it will last and not leak.

This came shipped in a Lowes box. It seems to be an older model. The only difference between this and the store model is that for fifty more bucks you get a blow molded case. This lays down paint so fast that you will spend more time refilling the cup than painting.

I painted a 10 X 12 OSB floor in my workshop in about 5 minutes not counting time for one refill. I did not notice any over spray. I also bought a giant spray shield so I did the interior of my shop without any masking or mess.

Refills can get messy but get better with practice and technique. Get pour spouts for you paint cans and set up a portable workbench outside to make an efficient and quick refill station. I also painted an 8 foot sawbuck consisting of 6 4 foot X sections.

While you are waiting for this to arrive, go to the home center and buy the preservative anti corrosion fluid for this along with extra cup liners and a giant paint shield.

The other model with variable speed and the 48 ounce cup would be useful if the extra hundred bucks is not a problem. The pump pulses the paint out and is noticeable only if you move too fast and try to lay down a thin coat.

A little practice and technique help. With this and a spray shield you can paint your house quick. You will spend more time moving the ladder and refilling than painting,.

Im a professional painter and have used graco products for years and even though i had very low expectations when buying this gun do to it being involved with the DIY serious, I still thought it would be half way decent.

I’m shocked that graco would even put their name on this product, nothing close to a fine finish, hard to clean, and spits paint everywhere and will literally ruin whatever project you are doing. Waste of money and I will not purchase anything other than their top rated products from here on out.

I’d give zero stars if I could.

Do Not Waist You’re $$$$This is a use it one thin then put it in your garage and never use again type tools. At $200 this is an expensive one time paint job. I am meticulous about cleaning my tools. Putting it away cleaner then you start with is a must.

So don’t blame poor operations on not cleaning. It will run for 20 -30 min before over heating and shut down. Then you need to wait 20-40 min to let it cool and restart. By then the spray tip has dried out and needs to be cleaned.

It WILL NOT hold a vacuum and you MUST replace the valve after every use. Spray quality when operating at its peak is marginal at best.

I definitely am a fan of this hairspray. I am particular about what I like my hair spray to smell like, especially if my hair will smell like it after using. The fragrance of this hairspray is pleasant, and something I don’t mind smelling like at all.

Goldwell definitely makes amazing high quality products, for a reasonable price. This 8. 7 oz can lasts forever, and costs roughly 15-18 dollars. It gives you brilliant strong flexible hold, no stickiness or crunchy hair.

Anti frizz, protects from humidity. Volumizing, enhances fullness and says it’s color protecting. It holds my hair style all day, all night while giving my hair the feel I want and the movement. I highly reccomend this beauty and will definitely continue using.

I have a straight up afro–which I love–but for the days I want to switch it up a bit and elongate my look, this is my go to product. My curls are real tight at the scalp and seem to loosen up toward the end of the shaft and this product works the same on both textures, tight or loose.

When I use this product, the compliments don’t stop. I use this product with Goldwell’s thermal spray serum. Both products together give me a super straight and silky, glossy look that looks so different from my natural texture that when I use these products in combination, people don’t believe it’s my own hair!.

I have very fine hair, just above shoulder length. This product makes my hair go from wavy to curly and full of body. A little goes a long way, and I use about the size of a 5 cent piece on really wet hair and spread it through.

Once dry, I kind of crunch it a little as it ‘sets’. But it’s not crunch like other products. Highly recommend. Go light first, then work out if you need more product in your hair.
