Just write a whole lot of words onto some paper and then staple the pages together. That’ll most probably give you a better understanding of CBT than reading this ‘illustration’. Probably not the best ‘illustration’ to read if you do suffer from a form of anxiety or depression as the narrator can be quite patronising at times.

With his scientific research claims his findings are something along the lines of; ‘when you find yourself feeling depressed, think of a happy thought’. And now, you’re on the pathway to a happier life.

I do, suppose, it may be a good illustration to read for a better idea on the mindsets of certain acclaimed professions in the field.

This book was absolutely excellent! I have struggled with finding a good therapist for a very long time and this book was so great to work through the steps on my own. I’ve recommended it to every friend I can think of!.

I just received my notebook today. It is very well organized and I love the hardcover, paper stock, etc. I only wish it was more of a notebook size. The font is small and my handwriting is also large.

I can make this work, but simply sharing a larger size might work better for some people so having a choice would be great. Thank you for this tool. It will be very helpful. I plan to start using this tonight.

I was really impressed with the layout and educational tools in this notebook–it’s great for times I need to externally process. The back has a really useful guide to explaining common coping mechanisms, as well as a feelings wheel that helps pinpoint exactly what you’re feeling.

Have always had mild anxiety but the last 12 months it has been terrible and I have experienced horrible panic attacks also. Stumbled across this book and have found it to be very informative and helpful in understanding my anxiety and how amazing the brain is in helping to combat and create new pathways to keep my anxiety under control due to understanding the why and how.

The brain is an amazing thing. I have only just discovered this fact.

I would keep this book as a handbook to constantly refer to when needed. It is informative and shows practical actions to take to help yourself. I would however consider using the information to help work in conjunction with a therapist to better understand and reinforce the pathways outlined.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was the first novel I have ever read. I like the way the book was laid out and everything made complete sense to me. I guess if it was missing anything it would have been great to learn more about visual anxiety as I’ve suffered this too but it doesn’t seem to be talked about much but overall I loved it and will go over it again.

Excellent book. If you are willing to do all the exercises throughout the book that Dr. Burns assigns. It’s a multi faceted approach in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Everyone is different. Thus, do all the assignments to see what works for you.

The answer may surprise you. This book takes commitment. If you commit, you’ll get results. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is some of the assignments are tedious. But then, it takes many years to get to the point of panic.

So,what’s a few weeks doing the exercises if it brings about recovery. Just do it.

Instead of allowing the boogieman of panic control you, one must learn its origin. Panic is a reaction from within. Some of us are more prone to anxiety than are other people. My ex used to call me a “scary cat.

” I told her to write me a poem; she declined. Those of us, who have sensitive nervous systems, have it for a reason. However, sometimes, this alarm system has a mind of its own, goes off sending me a warning, which I find hard to shut off.

In addition, I also recommend two other books by David D. Burns: Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy Revised and Updated and The Feeling Good Handbook. Feeling Good will focus specifically on Depression and The Feeling Good Handbook is for other uncomfortable feelings and negative thoughts.

The quality of the papers of the book is terrible. When I use a highlighter in a page it appears in the next pages… the contents of the book is good but the quality of the papers is terrible.

Gottlieb writes about her experience as both therapist and patient, and the revelations she experiences as the patient made me have some of my own revelations while reading the book, and I have a list of new topics to discuss at my next therapy appointment with my own therapist! I really connected to each of the characters presented in this book, and I appreciated the candid nature she wrote with.

It is only through honesty with ourselves that we can fully grow and become more self-aware, and putting it all in a book definitely does that. Thank you for putting your story out there to help fight the stigma surrounding mental health! It it such an important topic to talk about.

Great insights into the world of therapy. If you are wondering how it all works, read this very interesting story. As a licensed therapist, she goes through her own therapy, sometimes second guessing along the way.

But you see that it’s not invasive, not intimidating, and real work gets done- even if the “work” sometimes is just her letting off steam. You will see that therapists do NOT tell you what to do. Rather, they lead you towards insights, so you can help yourself understand motives.

It appears to be fairly painless. This book may give you the personal confidence to actually see a therapist yourself. They are not to be feared. And understanding motives is not to be feared. Author gives good insights to those who know little about the therapy process.

Also, it’s a very good read: well written, great true story, honestly delightful.

I havent finished reading the book because I dont want it to end. Its very intriguing gaining insight on the therapists thoughts and feelings as well as the patients and how they can teach each other.

I discovered this book at just the time when I needed it after losing a dear church friend to suicide. I have encountered many of the situations described in the book through family and friends and learned first hand that mental health challenges can happen to anyone.

I believe this discussion is long overdue and am so glad we are learning to talk openly and honestly about our mental health. I have recommended this book to friends as a must read for the church.

Awesome with the sacred arrow bracelet, it changed my life. I have anxiety, panic attacks, pmdd, insomnia, sciatica, deteriorated discs,arthritis, scoliosis, and a total hip replacement. Im a 36 year old mom of 2 and I worry and stress about everything.

I’m also extremely sensitive and overly emotional. This blend and bracelet along with the chakra bracelet have impacted me so much, I urge EVERYONE to purchase these products. And the stress away oil has a hint of orange which I’m not usually fond of but the blend was amazing soothing and calming.

The shipment came at an satisfactory pace but could have been a little sooner as I was anticipating its arrival. The size of the colored arrow bracelt was a little larger than the grey so my husband wears it.

The quality of the bracelets are satisfactory. the packaging the products came in were very nice, I put my oils on the lava beads at night and seal them so in the morning they are refreshed.

I purchased this item along with the arrow bracelet, and was hopeful that I would have the same experiences of some of the good reviews I read. The first time I tried it when it arrived, the oil did not smell like the description, the bracelet was way too big and nothing like the picture, and the oil was not absorbed by the “lava” beads.

Instead, it continuously dripped a yellow color that stained my skin. The smell did not relax me at all. it smelled like moth balls and artificial orange smell. Contacted company, and would not refund money.

I bought this with some doubts but figured I had nothing to lose. I take high doses of CBD daily and it doesn’t do enough. The first day I took one pill (half a dose) in the morning and my anxiety wasn’t there all morning.

I liked the examples of the different types of negative habits – I wouldn’t have thought I had some of these bad habits until they were explained in detail. Having those examples of bad/negative behavior helps to contrast it with the good behaviors learned throughout the course of this book.

I also appreciate the inclusion of some Buddhist philosophy/practices. As someone with anxiety, I really did find some of these suggestions helpful.
