20 Best Thermal Coffee Maker (2022 Updated)

I wanted to believe this was going to be a good coffee maker. I have been purchasing specialty coffee machines for years now and have noticed that some of the best drip coffee makers haven’t caught up with the pleasing design aesthetics.

Enter this specific machine, which is beautiful in viewable aesthetic, but trust me when I say the quality design ends with the appearance. Having a coffee machine that consistently overflows grounds out of the machine and into the carafe is a huge flaw.

Having a response from GE that you should simply change your coffee settings is a complete copout. If you are going to market an SCA certified coffee maker on par with customizable settings and price of that of a Breville Precision Brewer or Technivorm Moccamaster and then respond to an overflowing brew basket with a response of “grind your coffee coarser”, then you are completely negating any possibility of quality comparison.

I’ve used a Bonavita with the exact same grind settings for the last 5 years and never once had an overflown grounds basket. GE figured out a dirty secret that unfortunately most consumers will conflate “pretty” design with quality and that has allowed them to reskin their existing appliances with a few cool colors and accent metals and then charge 40% more without actually giving you the value return on your investment.

I fell for it with this purchase. For the money, I will return this machine and get one of the, albeit less pretty, but better built machines at the price point. I’m assuming the recent price drop on this machine is a quiet acknowledgment of lacking quality in the market.

I bought this in late September and it worked perfectly then. Very quiet, could only hear a very faint hum when it was brewing, and the wifi capability and scheduling was very convenient for me. It is now February of the next year and for some odd reason, the past 2 weeks it has been making a really loud and unpleasant screeching noise during brewing.

I tried descaling and unplugging it for 3 mins (like this other reviewer was told) and nothing helped. It’s not like I overuse it or anything, I only make a mug or 1. 5 mugs a day. I think this unit is beautifully designed with good features but if it’s going to be like this then maybe you are better off buying something else.

Especially because it is not cheap. Other things: the coffee that comes out of this is good. I don’t think it is winning any awards anytime soon. It is limited intrinsically by the design of the showerhead.

I have a pourover at home and if I had enough time most days to make something truly awe-inspiring I would have. Alas, I bought this for a reason — a good pourover with freshly ground beans is going to be a 8-10/10 maybe, this is getting you towards a 7.

It’s definitely not NASTY or burnt. Just a bit less aromatic and nuanced than something at a 3rd wave coffee shop, but duh. But consider that this convenience is a 9/10 (I suppose you do have to fill the basket yourself.

), vs. doing a pourover is a 5-6/10. Honestly, if it weren’t for the mechanical issues I mentioned above I would be recommending this left and right. If you are thinking of buying this for the features, and are okay with this possible risk, go for it.

It has a 1 year warranty that I am currently trying to see if customer service is going to honor.

Landed on this machine after returning a Moccamaster because there were just to many pieces and parts to deal with every day. So satisfied with the exchange. This machine makes great coffee and has convenience features that set it apart.

We wake up at different times throughout the week depending on schedules so it’s not always convenient to just set my coffee to run at a certain time in the morning. I set this machine up at night, and when we’re ready for coffee, I just reach over for my phone & turn the machine on via the app.

When I hear the chime alerting me that the coffee is brewed I can make my first trip downstairs for coffee. It also has four different brew strengths to choose from and you absolutely can tell the difference.

All were good coffee, but medium and gold are our favorites. Lastly, it is easy to clean – the shower head cover piece comes of easily to clean oil from coffee grinds that rise with steam during brewing, the filter basket comes out easily to trash the used filter and rinse, and the lid on the carafe comes off with a large enough opening to reach in and clean the carafe properly (maybe not for very large hands, but you can see clearly in to clean well.

I love this machine and am happy with the purchase. It’s been worth the price to me.

In my experience with this machine, the quality is horrible. I have a Ninja food processor that I loved, and read amazing things about this coffee maker but have been sooo disappointed in both the machine and Ninja in general.

The machine started leaking out of the bottom within 4 months of me purchasing it. The first time I called (after doing all the recommended cleaning and etc. ) Ninja attempted to charge me for the filter holder they said I needed.

After I let them know I felt that I should not need to pay for a replacement part so soon after purchasing the machine, they agreed to send it to me free of charge. As soon as I got it, I replaced it on my machine (it looks exactly like the piece it was replacing, so not sure what gasket thing was missing??).

The issue continued and actually got worse. After finally having enough of losing 1/3 of my cup of coffee onto my counter every day I called again. First they tried to recommend replacing the same part again – which, fine.

but seems to me like that’s not the issue. Then they said it may be better to replace the whole unit. Okay, great. But here’s the kicker. I need to pay for shipping ($22) AND I have to cut the cord on the current machine BEFORE they place the order.

So. let me get this Ninja – I (the customer who spent 200+ dollars on your machine already) now needs to fork out more money AND go without coffee for 2 weeks because of your equipment failing? They did eventually say they would cover shipping.

Thank goodness because I have no assurance that the new machine will work any better – in my experience the replacement worked worse then the original, so why would this be any different? But I am the one who is out a coffee maker.

And the kicker to me was that the lady I spoke to then told me, just to let you know, this is the last replacement we are sending you for free. Excuse me?? You wouldn’t have to keep sending me replacement pieces or machines if your machine actually did what you advertised it would do, so please don’t make it sound like I’m the inconvenience or somehow causing this equipment to fail and poor coffee all over my counter.

Specially after I’m the one who is having to go without coffee. I am very disappointed and it’s not likely I will look at Ninja again anytime soon. The machine itself is really great, I do love all the features.

It’s just not worth the money I spent for now having to clean up a mess daily.

I read the dimensions, but was focused on the depth, so it seemed bigger than I had hoped and I almost returned it because I thought it was too big for the space. I let it sit there for a week – didn’t want to use it in case I was going to send it back.

FINALLY I reviewed all of the features, remembered why I picked this one, and decided to fire it up. OMG I LOVE IT. Didn’t think I would actually bother with the cold brew but tried it and now addicted.

I’ve been making so much coffee I had to start mixing in some decaf lol. I didn’t buy it for the frother, so I don’t use it and probably won’t so I can’t speak to that. The water reservoir is a tad small but I’m adjusting.

It was easy to learn and the results have been great. The tea tastes so much better “brewed” than just using the hot water from my previous machine. It takes a little longer but is so worth it. Not sure why that’s such an issue for some people, I just start it while I’m still getting ready for work so by the time I’m ready to leave it’s done.

The scoop on the side of the machine is a nice touch but not sure how I feel about that long term – because the space is tight on that side the verdict is still out on that one. I like the idea, not sure it’s perfected yet.

Oh yeah I like the separate baskets for coffee and tea. I use paper filters for coffee because I don’t like to fuss with cleaning the basket. Did not experience the problem someone else mentioned about water dripping and getting on the counter ~ only thing is you have to actually remove the spent filter after brewing or it will eventually drip, but they do disclose that in the instructions.

Overall I’m super happy I kept it. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars for quality and value is because I withhold that until I see how long it lasts and stays in good working order.

Over 5 years ago we got our first Ninja coffee bar and we loved it. It recently stopped working so we went ahead and got this coffee and tea maker. We LOVED it until about 3 weeks into using it, it started leaking- around the water reservoir area.

It was a slow leak meaning you could make coffee but if you set it for delay brew, like we always do, you wake up in the morning with most of the water on your floor and counter. I contacted customer support and they sent a new reservoir two days ago.

Well that didn’t fix the problem so I called customer support today and she said they would send a whole new product, but: 1. I would have to pay $20. 99 shipping and handling 2. I would need to cut the cord on my current one before they would send out the new one.

Well. I already paid $200 for the coffee pot and because they sent me a defective one I would have to pay an additional $20 to have it sent? NO WAY! After some back and forth they woman said “out of good faith, we’ll waive the fee this time.

” My second issue is that she said it would be 5-10 business days before a new one got sent out and they wouldn’t do that until I cut the cord on my current one and provided them proof. Well, since I don’t have multiple coffee pots lying around, that doesn’t work either.

The product may work, not fully as it should, but why should I continue to have to sacrifice FOR THEIR ERROR!? I seriously don’t understand why this is so hard to fix their problem. Their problem that is under “warranty” So after two more calls, a bunch of my time, they finally agreed to waive the fee, send me a new product and allow me to “cut the cord” on video as soon as I get the product or my new warranty would be void.

I’m still in shock that a company that I have purchased multiple products from would be so hard to deal with. All I want is a working coffee pot, with all the features I paid money for to work. I am super disappointed.

Like I said, it took hours or my time to get what I paid for and you would think they would try to make it easier to retain customers. Fair warning for everyone. I was a shark and ninja customer, but after this I won’t be.

Three vacuums, two coffee bars, a food processor, blender, air fryer and grill. RUN!! On another point, why can’t they just have me send it back so they can refurbish and resell?! Seems like a great way to make your company more sustainable instead of filling landfills with coffee pots with cut cords.

Just food for thought, I guess!.

I bought this as a gift for my coffee-loving boyfriend after trying it out at my parents’ house. It brews great tasting coffee and is so practical! Being able to do single-serve k-cups or a pot of coffee is a great feature.

I also really enjoy the programmable time feature so I can set it to brew the night before for piping hot coffee when I wake up! Not to mention, you can set it to brew the coffee as “bold” which tastes so much better in my opinion.

After 10 days of use, the spray head on this brand new ‘elite’ coffeemake began delivering water to an empty hot plate. This happened with the lid in full upright position, a design ‘feature’ supposed to prevent that trigger.

A Bunn Bunn customer service rep informed me the machine wasn’t meant to ‘hold water for an extended period’. Fact: I dawdled for several ‘extended’ seconds while adding coffee grounds to the brew funnel.

Rational #2: ‘the teeniest little bit’ can interfere with a rubber stopper that keeps the water in check while the lid is up. Well, this stopper cannot be visually checked without removing the top cover of the machine.

After 10 days of use, I kinda don’t expect to disassemble the thing in pursuit of a ‘teensy little’ obstruction. Then get this: you can crawl your fingers all around the hermetically-sealed device w/o finding any means of actually removing that top cover.

It’s a secret even the manual does not divulge. In conclusion: For an irritating, intensive wake-up routine, this is the machine for you. If you prefer cruising calmly into your day, save a bunch of money and choose a good old pedestrian workhorse.

Most any other brand, I would think.

Very disappointed with this purchase. I really enjoy a good cup of coffee. Seriously, I grind coffee beans every morning prior to brewing. I love the aroma and the experience. I decided to upgrade my brewing game and splurge on my very first Bunn.

However, I am SO disappointed! My coffee is never truly hot. It is consistently lukewarm at best. I followed the setup instructions as outlined. However, even after a week and a half of using it, the temperature has not improved.

I plan on returning it. My parents have had a different model Bunn for years. I hope that my issue solely based on this particular model and not the quality of the brand.

After years of mediocre machines ending up in the garbage, I finally decided it was time to invest in a good machine. As a member of the hospitality industry I am more than familiar with the Bunn brand and it’s restaurant provenance.

Quick shipping from ECS. I cannot say how pleased we are with this machine! A full pot brews immediately and unbelievably quickly (you can just stand and wait for it!). it’s an absolutely delicious, café quality cup with every dripless pour.

The machine is also almost absolutely silent while brewing, a great bonus if you don’t want to disturb a sleeping household. I highly recommend!!!.

Had you asked me 3 months ago, I’d given it 5 stars. Today, however it is one. I purchased this mid September 2019, and for the past month, it has been dying a slow death (it’s December of 2021) Despite regular cleanings with citric acid, it started being obnoxiously loud while brewing, and it takes 15 minutes or longer now to brew 6 cups.

Occasionally, it will stop mid brew cycle and beep, and only way to get it going is to lift water tank and reseat it. I was in love with it, in fact i even purchased new lid when the old one became impossible to clean.

I figured, it is japanese made, it will last for years, well, it lasted 2! As i am writing this, i have coffee set on a timer for 3:20 am. So we will either get awakened by its loud brewing that can be heard thru entire house, or we will wake up at 4 to no coffee at all.

I am not getting another Zojirushi anything.

I needed to replace a Motif coffee maker that was not heating properly. While I wanted to get a Mochamaster, it simply was not in my budget. After much searching I opted for the Zojirushi. The online reviews were stellar with the only downside was the reviews that complained about a bitter brew.

My experience is that a bad coffee is the result of either cheap beans or non-filtered water. I use neither. Upon delivery I washed the parts and ran three water rinses. I then brewed a pot. I’m now in coffee nirvana! Delicious and hot.

I’m tasting nuanced flavor that I never tasted before. A great brew from a great product. Highly recommend!.

This is at least our 4th Zojirushi small appliance. They’ve all been reliable in their performance; great quality! We were attracted to this particular coffee maker because of its clear water tank, stainless steel thermal carafe (that does not require removal of the lid during the brewing process), and ease of operation.

We really like that, once the brew process is complete, pulling the carafe out does not result in any drops from the filter. Plus, the carafe has a positive shut-off in that no coffee drips from the spout after having poured a cup.

Last, but not least, the coffee tastes great!!.

I would agree with most of the positive points in other reviews. Overall, it’s a great coffee maker. However, it has a few annoying, problematic issues that I shouldn’t have to deal with in a top-of-the-line, $300 coffee maker, which is why the 3 stars (and why I wouldn’t buy it again):1) [the most annoying] When you rinse out the carafe lid, it’s really difficult to drain all the water out, and you can hear it sloshing around inside (and then you imagine trapped water growing mold).

The only way I’ve found to drain out the water (at least to the point of not hearing sloshing) is to hold it over the sink with the “filler” and “pour” holes oriented vertically (basically, turn it 90 degrees) and shake it vigorously up and down for about a full minute until I don’t see big water drops coming out any more (then check it again for sloshing)….

and then do this EVERY DAY after making coffee for the entire life of the product. Very annoying. 2) The lip of the carafe is designed so that it traps a small amount of liquid when you try to pour it all out — so when you rinse and try to empty it, there’s always a little bit of water left at the bottom.

You could dry with a towel or let it air dry a long time — but again, annoying. 3) Periodically, the reservoir needs to be washed (or at least rinsed to get any sediment out). Because the reservoir can’t be removed from the base unit, this becomes another annoying ordeal, as follows: unplug the base unit, take it over the sink, and tilt it over so that the reservoir is over the sink (and inverted at least slightly downwards, not just horizontal) to be washed, rinsed, and drained.

Then (in an acrobatic maneuver), hold the base unit suspended as previously described with one hand while simultaneously with the other hand managing the sink faucet (hopefully with a telescopic hose that can be extended for rinsing the now-inverted reservoir/base unit), the soapy sponge, and the rinsing and draining itself.

Again, it makes great coffee, but for $300, I want it to make great coffee and not incite me to shake my fist in the air at Breville.

I so wanted this to be the one! I looked at a bunch of nice coffee makers and always liked Breville products so I decided to go for this machine. I often use good quality coffee and I was hoping I would get a great cup from this one.

it also looked really nice. At first the coffee I brewed had no flavor so I re checked the instructions and tweaked some settings to give me what I wanted. to no avail. I don’t use the machine every day, so I thought that it might make better coffee after a few more uses.

After the sixth time using it, the machine said I needed to descale, so I thought if I did, it would help the flavor. Nope. And actually, this machine says it needs to be descaled after very little usage, which is very, very annoying.

I believe I have followed all of the instructions with regards to brewing, cleaning and maintaining, but I cannot seem to get a flavorful cup of coffee from this supposedly sophisticated machine. What is worse, is that my boyfriend’s mom’s old, basic and boring Braun put this Breville to shame, and now that we live together, his ugly machine takes center stage on our counter! Oh, and I was going to say at least the Breville is good looking, but the fake silver on the machine chipped after the second week and the stainless colors on the carafe and the body don’t match.

Very disappointed in this coffee maker.

We’ve been using this coffee maker for about a week and LOVE IT!!! Here are some reasons why: 1. Simple design with some just enough features. The strong brew function we only tried once on a lighter roast and it might have made a slight difference.

Your mileage may vary. Ability to set it to auto brew is something that should come standard on just about any coffee maker these days, but it’s nice it “stays” in that mode daily till you change it.

2. Pour spout on carafe doesn’t get coffee all over the counter: so many designs have a slightly curved spout which only enables the coffee to travel down that side of the carafe and onto the counter.

You can pour coffee pretty fast out of this one and it doesn’t dribble. 3. Large opening for the carafe – easy to clean: My previous thermal carafe had such a small opening, I couldn’t get my hand down into it to clean it well.

No problem with this one! 4. “Shower head” type of water flow into the grounds: nice design – I was afraid the brew basket might fill up too fast when making full pot, but not so. Even the strong brew function does well with this.

5. No annoying beeping when brew cycle is complete: So glad for this. Ok, this may be my pet peeve – but when you set the thing to brew before you wake up so you have coffee ready first thing, the very last thing you want is for an annoying beep to wake you up.

Again, our previous coffee makers did this with no ability to turn the beeping off. This model is quiet and stealthy and will have your coffee ready when you are. I read previous reviews that mentioned the coffee wasn’t hot enough unless you pre-warmed the carafe.

While coffee temperature is an individual preference thing, I didn’t find this to be true. Drinking first cup 20-30 minutes after it brewed still yielded a hot cup of coffee. Not so hot that you have to wait another 10 minutes to drink it, but nice “sipping” temperature.

All in all, this one is a winner. Hoping it will stand up to the long haul.

I have only used this twice at the time of review. Part of the issue is my fault for not realizing that thermal carafes generally do not use hot plates as they exist to avoid having a hot plate which can scorch your coffee.

However besides that this brewer does not reach proper temperature the first go, even with preheating the carafe my coffee was 137 degrees 3 minutes after starting brewing. I used cold water from my dispenser, it says to use cold water.

That means that you can NOT use this as a normal programmed coffee maker. What you must do instead is use the timer to pre-heat your water, which will also preheat your carafe, then recyle the heated water through your grounds as normal.

This achieved a 170-180 degree temperature upon measurement 3 minutes after the start of the brew. This works,but it may be inconvenient in the morning rush. On the bright side, though my first cup was luke warm, the flavor WAS noticeably deeper than my Keurig made using the exact same measurements,my coffee was actually too strong for my liking and I like it strong.

I do believe the “showerhead” design achieves the desired result by evenly saturating the grounds. I notice there is no hole drilled through the middle. The machine is very stylish, I have mostly stainless items and it looks really good in my kitchen.

I think they should also add some kind of dead weight to hold the machine to the counter better, it is very light weight and slides around. I will keep trying it but will probably return. I did call Black.

Makes good coffee and keeps it hot. BUT if you have OCD, don’t buy it. The control panel and the center of the filter basket are offset at an odd angle from each other. Drives me nuts. Brew light dims and brightens continuously during brew cycle.

When done brewing, the light stays on for 2 hours even though the book says it shuts off when brewing done. Another design team failure, the 120 minute countdown after brew is done, starts at 120 and goes to zero.

So, if it says 74, that’s time remaining and you have to subtract that from 120 to know how long ago the coffee was made. The older model started at zero and went to 120. Much smarter. This model also does not have a 4-cup function, or variable strength other than strong-not strong.

Also, the strong indicator is not lit while brewing. The carafe handle is very thick, and far away from the carafe. Not ergonomic in the least. Very difficult to maneuver with bad hands/fingers. The pour button on the carafe lid is also not positioned well, and the coffee still drips out a lot after releasing the button.

All in all, a very poorly designed appliance. The previous model (4 years or so) was perfectly made. It is still available but for almost double the cost of this new one. Would not have purchased if the flaws had been known.

This is the best coffee maker for the price! Love the dual features. You can make a single cup with a pod (takes standard Keurig style ones) but it also comes with a reusable pod that you can add your own grinds to.

Like the full carafe side, the volume of the single pod is determined by the amount of water you dump into that side (goes up to 12oz). The bottom of the single side is removable for taller travel mugs.

The machine is incredibly easy to use with only a few buttons for programming and it takes just a few minutes to brew a cup. The only downfall is that you have to pour water into the top at each use, so if you have this under an overhanging cabinet you have to pull it all the way out to fill up.

Also the tops of the water cover part has warped a bit with heat but nothing too bad. Overall excellent machine.

I really love this coffee maker. It has so many easy to use features such as bold or regular strength, k cup or ground and one cup side or choose to use the pot. This maker is expensive at full price but, I got an amazing deal at Khols before Christmas and only paid around $65 for this almost $200 maker! I wish someone would invent throw away small filters for ground k cups.

I hate cleaning the reusable filters. Take note though that the pot side only uses throw away filters and doesn’t come with any starter filters, a to go cup or sample coffee. So be sure to buy filters if you do decide to buy.

This maker also has a huge plus, it makes very, very hot coffee. I’ve never had a maker that makes coffee this hot. It’s a plus for me!.

I have had this coffee pot/k-cup making station a few months shy of 2 years and I’ve never had any issues with it. I’ve made many k-cup coffees and even loaded the reusable k-cup that you can load with any coffee on that side, never had any problems with it.

If the pin that goes into the k-cup starts looking a little dingy, I just wash everything in hot soapy dish water. I’ve used the regular coffee pot side a lot too and I even brew my tea for making a gallon of sweet tea in it.

I love the programmable feature where you can have ready to drink coffre when you wake up at whatever time, the fact that you can adjust the brew strength, you can use a tall to go coffee cup in the k-cup side by just removing the piece where a regular size cup would sit and you can make either 1 serving or a whole pot.

For the value, quality and functions compared to other more expensive name brands that do exactly the same thing, this was a great buy and actually the best coffee maker I’ve ever owned.

I went with the thermal carafe option instead of the warming burner because many of the reviews I read said the burner stopped working within a year, requiring the entire coffee maker to be replaced.

Plus, coffee that sits on a burner all day tastes terrible. I’m basically pleased with the coffee maker. My only annoyance is the poor design of the pour spout on the thermal carafe. It dribbles down the side of the carafe and spills all over the counter every time I’m pouring a cup.

The only way I’ve found to get a “non-dribbling” pour is to turn the carafe completely upside down over the cup, which is an awkward and inexact method unless you’re a good shot. On the plus side, the carafe keeps a pot of coffee made in the morning warm (not hot) thru mid-afternoon without tasting burned.

As soon as the pot is brewed, I immediately empty the grounds from the included gold filter so their bitter flavor doesn’t continue to drip down into the carafe during the day. All in all, the coffeemaker does what it’s supposed to do.

I’d definitely give it 5 stars if the pour spout issue was corrected.

Not real happy with this coffeemaker. I do love having a stainless steel thermal carafe oppose to glass sitting on a warmer getting old and stale in no time. This does keep the coffee hot by time we get a 12 cup pot consumed.

But why the warmer for this thermal carafe? Totally unnecessary, it fits so tightly, the edge of the warmer plate is already scratched. The design of the carafe is another issue, the opening is so small there is no way an adult can get their hand inside to clean, I doubt my 3 year old granddaughter could! The reservoir is so small, pouring water from the carafe is a hit and miss, I now use another container.

The noises it makes when brewing would wake the dead! Not only does it make a ticking sound, it thuds as well, sounds as if it’s jumping on my counter. Considering the price I paid for this, I’m beyond disappointed!!.

Overall, I’m very happy with this machine. The coffee tastes great, and it stays hot (without getting bitter). Pouring from the carafe — either when filling the reservoir or pouring coffee into a mug — can be a challenge, requiring the carafe to be almost upside down if you’ve only brewed a small pot (which I usually do) and trickling out fairly slowly.

But if this is what’s required to get coffee that’s sufficiently insulated to stay warm multiple hours, it seems a small price to pay. One recent development I had read (and seen a video) about in another review was a strange, rather loud clicking sound near the end of the brew cycle.

It just started happening in the last couple weeks and is different from the sounds of the last bit of water in the reservoir getting pumped into the filter basket. I’m not sure what’s causing it; the maker seems to be functioning normally otherwise.

I like the look of the Cuisinart 12 cup and single cup brewer. I’ve had my eyes on it for some time and finally purchased one when there was a drop in price. I used the owner’s manual to put the unit together.

It wasn’t very complicated to set up but I did refer to the manual a few times to make sure I understood correctly. The design looks beautiful and fits great along with my other Cuisinart appliances.

There were 2 things about the Cuisinart coffee center that prevented me from giving a 5 star rating. The first and most important time was that I don’t particularly like adding water from the rear of the unit.

My coffee center is located at the back of my countertop to maximize counter space and I have to move it everytime I want coffee whether it’s a pot of coffee or a coffee pod. I believe that the unit would be better served if the water reservior was located on the top front or at either side which would be more ideal and provide easier access.

Also this alteration would make for an easier and more fluid coffee making experience. The other issue that I’ve had is simply setting the clock. I had several unsuccessful attempts at programming the clock both for the auto programming feature as well as the simply using the clock.

These design issues do not diminish the Cuisinart coffee center’s ability to brew a great up of coffee. I will continue to support and stand behind the Cuisinart brand and it’s quality products as I have several in my possession.

I wanted to love this product so badly, but I just can’t. There are too many issues considering the price. 1- the kids to the water reservoir doesn’t open far enough to make it convenient or easy to refill the tank.

Like most, I use my coffee pot to fill the water reservoir but you can’t quite get the right angle to easily pour all the water in. I spill water everywhere daily because of this and it’s quite frustrating.

2- the water reservoir gasket on the k-cup side gets easily stuck and the water just pours out. If I leave water in there during the day, the whole machine is sitting on a puddle of water within hours.

The entire tank empties on the kitchen counter. I did try contacting customer service about this issue and they said they’d send a new reservoir to see if that helps, but I never received it. Very frustrating as well.

3-the coffee pot design ALSO strangely pours water/coffee everywhere. I can’t pour a cup of coffee without a towel under my mug- no matter how slow I pour. I can’t even explain this one, but it’s awful.

4- the coffee from the k-cup side is incredibly watered down. It comes out nearly clear, so if you enjoy a bolder coffee tase, you’ll probably never use this side. All in all, I highly suggest exploring some other options unless you really enjoy cleaning water and coffee from everywhere.

This coffee maker has all the functionality I look for in a coffee maker and I love that I can brew a pot of coffee or brew a single cup. Having both capabilities in one machine is great and allowed me to get an appliance off my countertop reducing clutter.

There is a learning curve though, which some additional engineering could probably reduce. The way the coffee pot lid attaches to the pot takes some getting used to. I pinched myself several times getting used to it.

To fill the water reservoir requires care. The space to pour the water into is small, so you have to be careful to ensure you are pouring the water where it needs to go to fill the reservoir or it will run through into the pot or your counter.

The single cup side does splatter due to the cup being so far from the drip. If the platform could be moved higher, maybe even be adjustable to accommodate different cup sizes, it would be nice and would reduce the splatter.

All that being said, I like the coffee maker. I’ve learned how to use it without pinching myself or making a mess!.

There’s no questioning the quality of this brewer. It shouts quality construction from the moment it’s pulled out of the box. Another way to describe it: It’s built like a tank. The quality of the coffee it brews is excellent.

One minor wish would be to have an automatic bloom pause feature like the Breville. This unit offers a manual option to achieve the same result, but it involves adjusting the basket aperture lever to the closed position while the unit is still brewing, This isn’t a big deal, and some may even question whether they notice any noticeable difference between blooming and and not blooming the grounds.

The only real issue I have with the unit is that the brew basket aperture lever doesn’t move smoothly as it shifts from 100% open, to 50% open, and then closed, and is difficult to adjust while the basket is on the machine.

But this is really only a minor criticism and not significant enough for me to give is less than 5 stars. The carafe is well insulated and like the rest of the unit, is exceptionally well designed and constructed.

It may not have all the bells and whistles of the Breville, but the coffee is brews, in my opinion, is just as good. I have no doubt that this brewer will be making great coffee long after I’ve departed for the great coffee shop in the sky.

Took a flyer on this as I was looking to upgrade the quality of my daily cup of morning drip coffee, and my existing coffee maker was always very good but not great and getting long in the tooth. I was gobsmacked by how immediate, obvious, and significance the improvement was with this Moccamaster brewer, literally from the first sip of the first cup I brewed with it.

My prior brewer was nothing special but was highly rated by Consumer Reports – a Michael Kors for Target unit that came in 2nd only to a Cuisinart unit – you know, the $100-$120 Cuisinart that changes model numbers from time to time but is always decently regarded.

I also did not change my coffee, my grinder, my water filtering, or the grind settings – everything remained the same except for the brewer. For its usual price of $300 I would still recommend it, but for me that’s pushing it.

For the Drop price of $200, though, it’s a fantastic value and a no-brainer. In the 2+ years since I got it, everyone who has stayed at our home or otherwise had occasion to have our coffee has commented, unsolicited, on how great it tastes.

This Moccamaster brewer is one of relatively few products I would recommend without hesitation.

Maybe my wife and I have a dulled sense of taste but we didn’t find a difference in coffee taste from the $90 Cuisinart that this unit replaced. We tried different beans and even different spring water.

Even my home roasted beans didn’t help. The unit works fine but is a bit flimsy. You have to watch for the brewing to end as there is no indicator. So, if you withdraw the carafe the coffee will continue to drip onto the plastic tray below.

To avoid this there is a manual option to stop the dripping. It does brew quickly. People remarked on being dissatisfied that the carafe has no pour lip but I didn’t find that to be a problem. I loved the carafe; the coffee stays hot.

We are just disappointed that we didn’t have the positive experience that others have had, especially since this unit is so expensive.

Makes up to 12 cups with water level gage easy to read on front right side. Has a regular brew cycle or a strong brew cycle. I use French Roast regular grind on strong brew for great tasting coffee. The café is well insulated and keeps coffee hot for 5 hr.

No need to reheat in microwave. Should last a long time. Last Krups coffee maker lasted 15 years.

The KRUPS manuel Tea Kettle is the first tea kettle I’ve ever owned, and my husband and I are really enjoying it. My husband is really impressed with the kettle and is actually using it more than me! The first thing I noticed when I pulled the kettle out of the box was how large and beautiful it was.

I was surprised by the size, you could definitely serve several people with this kettle. Also the simple design looks sleek and modern. I love the way it looks. Not only does it look good but you can also feel the quality, the KRUPS kettle is sturdy, picking it up it doesn’t feel cheap.

It’s extremely easy to use and it boils the water very quickly. My husband and I like that it also keeps the water hot. The only minor issue we have with it is that it gets extremely hot to the touch.

Which isn’t really an issue for those who don’t have kids, but we have kids so we have to make sure to be around while we are boiling water. Other than that, we are enjoying the KRUPS manuel tea kettle.

I would recommend this kettle to anyone looking to buy a tea kettle.

Pros: it’s super easy to use and the coffee is really good. It’s a straightforward, easy, one-button process as opposed to the more complex, programmable units (that always seem to malfunction for me).

I usually use reverse osmosis filtered water in this and haven’t had an issue with residue but if you have medium-hard to hard water (if you get water spots on dishes, you’re in this category) you’ll want to stick with distilled or heavily filtered water and/or buy, and use regularly, a good descaling product to keep everything working as it should.

I’ve had this coffee maker for 4 years. It’s had sporadic use; heavy at times and then periods where it wasn’t used much at all, but the coffee maker itself has always made great coffee. Cons: the coffee pot leaves much to be desired.

It’s been enough of a hassle to me that, for all the considerable advantages of the coffee maker, if I’d known what a pain the carafe would be I might have just bought something else. The inside surface isn’t as smooth as it should be – it’s got a textured surface that picks up lint/threads/tiny bits of fabric if you try to hand dry it.

So I dry it upside down in a dish strainer, but the plastic rim around the top prevents all the water from draining. So unless you air dry it overnight then carefully hand dry the leftover water around the rim with a towel (and even then I never seemed to get it all), that water ends up back in the pot as soon as you turn it upright.

Drying that inner rim by hand wouldn’t be such a big deal if the inside were smooth but the poor quality finish means when you go to dry it, you end up with fine threads/fabric hairs catching on the rough surface.

I gave up on the carafe and now I use a large pyrex (glass) 32 oz measuring cup. It doesn’t keep it hot, but it’s so much easier to clean. If not for the issues with the pot, this would be the perfect simple, no-fuss, one-step coffee maker that also manages to make great coffee.

You don’t have a million different settings to learn or a million programmable options that can malfunction. As it is, I love it for its simplicity and great coffee. But if you really need your coffee to stay hot, you’ll either need to deal with the downfalls of the carafe (which maybe won’t be as big a deal to you as they are to me), or be prepared to stick around while it brews and immediately pour your coffee into an insulated container, or the easiest option: look elsewhere.

We bought this as a replacement for our Bonavita with the glass-lined carafe when, after years of use, it stopped working. We kept our cone filter holder and carafe from the prior model, but shortly after we bought the new one, the glass in the old carafe broke.

We are able to keep the coffee pretty hot by preheating the stainless steel carafe, which we did with the glass one, too. But it still doesn’t stay as hot for as long as the old glass-lined version. Also, the basket filter seems inferior to the cone, so we are still using our old cone filter holder.

I don’t know why Bonavita made the changes they did, but I think the old model was superior. I still enjoy the quality of the brew very much, but think they should go back to a glass-lined carafe and cone filter.

This is an excellent coffee maker. I bought it because I am the only coffee drinker in my household (unless we have guests, which is rare) so I wanted something to make a small amount of coffee without taking up too much counter space.

I had also heard that this model is recommended because it brews coffee at the optimum temperatures, and I wanted to see how that would impact the taste. I had heard that ATK liked the Technivorm Moccamaster but that is a much larger and more expensive machine, and it seemed to involve a lot more fiddling than I am interested in (I like good coffee, but I don’t have time or interest in grinding beans fresh daily, etc).

I have had the maker about a week and so far am very impressed by how good it tastes. It also fits nicely on my counter, even with upper cabinets. This does not have a programmable timer and you cannot pour coffee while it is still brewing, but these were not features I needed or wanted.

I like that all you have to do is push a single button to start brewing. The maker is designed to have either the filter basket over the open carafe OR the pour lid on, not both. I have not found this to be an issue, as I switch the basket for the lid a minute or two after brewing finishes and the basket goes right into the dishwasher.

With the lid on, the carafe does a great job of keeping the coffee hot for several hours without further cooking it the way a heater element below a glass pot would. These are really all design preferences that worked for me and what I needed.

Definitely happy with this choice!.

After a period of 2 + years with this Brewer it has been on disappointment after another with both the machine and the company that produced it. Initially the brewer produced a great cup of coffee however after 6 months of use and proper maintenance as instructed it began leaving water on the tank then refused to brew.

This was returned and repaired quickly, although never properly diagnosed. Months later after regular magininace and after descaling the brewer would again not brew necessitating another return and replacement with what was apparently a rebuilt machine.

A few months later the replacement machine finish began pealing away. Necessitating a third return and the shipment of a “loaner” RATIO 6 brewer. Months later the machine was still not repaired, but were accessories shipped that I had been charged for months earlier.

All sorts of excuses from customer service and presumably the principle of the company. After a replacement brewer arrived it worked for just one cycle, before developing some sort of “vapor lock” that required some sort of voodoo procedure to clear ! This remedy again worked for only one cycle.

At this point I asked for a full refund as RATIO could not provide a working brewer and we were now looking at a fourth return. The principle of RATIO agreed but indicated they could not refund my credit card as the transaction was too old – The brewer however was still in the Warranty period, and that they would forward me a check for the full purchase price.

RATIO’s check however was returned NSF and the company has yet to contact me. Clearly ATIO is unable to stand behind their warranty. This was a pricey machine and advertised was a high quality product.

Best stay away, this company does not provide the quality product or service they advertise.

My husband first found the Ratio 8 on-line and we read all we could find about the Ratio 8. What a wonderful coffee machine as we read. It is certainly higher priced than most on the market but it’s Esthetic appeal on the counter is certainly better than other coffee makers ( which we do leave these on our counters and most have no appeal making me wonder who designs these coffee makers for all to see on our counter, the reason why I do not buy others because of their poor visual appeal).

We thought we would hold off and wait and consider the large purchase. Two weeks later, it is Christmas of 2019, I had the surprising delight to open a present from my son’s girlfriend and here was a Ratio 8, black matte, with Walnut and the hand blown glass carafe.

I was thrilled. My daughter and I went to brew the first pot, it worked wonderfully but the second one the Ratio 8 would not brew. I called the company the next day. The next day it was returned and on the return drop off of the faulty one, the next one was there for pick up! Tried it again and it failed again, called and emailed and Rebecca who handled this, let me know it was a heating element and it was a faulty batch, it was returned and in one week the faulty part was replaced and it was back on my counter.

Rebecca in customer service, was so refreshing, to have someone who actually cared. Her customer service is why I leave a 5 star review even though we had this minor hiccup. Thank you Rebecca. The Ratio 8 is a center piece on my counter, and if I could have added a picture I would have as it is a beautiful machine that delivers a great cup of coffee.

The glass carafe pours the coffee like a fine wine from a bottle. I did end up purchasing the black matte carafe as the glass carafe is great if I am making coffee for just 1 or 2 cups for my husband but the carafe is wonderful for the mornings that we both have a cup of coffee and later I take one with me for the drive to work.

I enjoy watching the Ratio 8 brew the coffee, with the shower head gently showering over the coffee and the final result is a great cup of coffee. I could not be more pleased with the Ratio 8 and to receive it as a present was a treat in it’self.

I like it, however there are a couple minor critiques I would offer. The cord, why not include a power cord with a 90 degree elbow connector at both ends? The straight end for the Ratio increases the area consumed by an additional couple of inches.

The touch power ‘button’ I would personally prefer a legitimate physical switch so I could plug this bad boy into a smart outlet and brew my coffee before I wake up. The “sensor”, magnet(?) that is attached to the bottom of the carafe is loosely attached and is going to cause the bottom of my carafe to shatter upon any mildly rough placement onto a counter.

Other than that I like it a lot. It brews fairly quickly, and well, and looks great.

While filling maker with water, no more puddles between between pot and fridge. A beautiful thing. Coffee tastes superb. Very happy with this purchase. I read the review from an 89-yr-old saying the spout of the pot does not drip when pouring.

This is my very 1st Capresso Coffee Maker & so far, I am very happy with it! After a life time of owning Cuisninart Coffee Makers I promised I would never buy another Cuisinart product due to the horrendous way they handled, or more accurately, did not handle, their massive food processor blade recall.

I’m very happy I switched to Capresso! Most importantly, it makes excellent tasting coffee! Far better & richer than any Cuisinart I’ve ever had. The coffee temperature is very hot but I usually drink it within 15 minutes after brewing so I cannot attest to how long it stays warm.

Because it shuts off automatically after the coffee is made & the warming plate does not stay warm very long, I don’t know how long it stays hot & that is only criticism. I opted for a thermal carafe since I have a bad habit of breaking glass ones & am very happy with it.

I love the smaller footprint in that the length, width & height are smaller than most other models, taking up less space on the countertop. This model does not have as many buttons as others but with the exception of having an option for the warming plate to stay on, it has what I need.

All in all, I am very happy with my purchase!.

I bought this coffee maker to replace my Krups Silver Art coffee maker. This machine is very nice looking. easy to use and makes very hot coffee! The thermal Carafe keeps coffee hot for about 3-4 hours.

There is no hot plate so you dont get that burnt coffee taste. It does not spill or drip coffee when you pour. There is a button on the lid when you pour so you do not have a mess. Great coffee machine!!! Does beep when finished brewing coffee , but its letting you know coffee is ready.

So some people might like that and some might not. I personally dont mind the beep. I reccomend this coffee machine.

We tried THREE other coffeemakers before this one. They all leaked or were hard to deal with or both. This one is wonderful! We’re back to using cone filters and the coffee really does taste better. It’s easy to see the lines on the carafe because they’re on both sides (good for lefties like me), and easy to pour in the water without spilling.

(Why other makers made that so hard is weird. ) We love love love that the coffee is hot as soon as it brews. (Our old coffeemaker didn’t work that way. ) And it’s easy to turn on. (Again, why other coffeemakers can’t even get that right is beyond me.

) The strength options actually work. There is no beep when coffee is done but we actually prefer that. Well worth the “extra” $20 compared to other makers. I may even buy another as backup :).

We were looking for a replacement for a 10 cup coffee maker with thermal pot that uses four paper filters. This machine fit the bill perfectly. After several weeks of use we are completely satisfied.

In fact this is the best coffee maker I have ever had, it keeps the coffee good and hot for hours. I like that it is programmable, you can adjust the coffee strength settings and the metal carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours without the use of a burner or hot plate.

Love how it shuts off after brewing. When taking into account the quality and price of cup of coffee these machines make, and the quality of the carafe, it’s an investment that you won’t regret. Highly recommended!.

Just what I was seeking! Replaced another brand maker which burned the coffee due to a very hot, non-adjustable warming plate. Ick. So, chose this thermal carafe programmable model from Cuisinart. It works great for my morning routine! The previous machine would scorch the coffee within :15 of brewing completion.

This one simply keeps you coffee nice and hot when you pour your first cup: you can now hit the snooze alarm and not wake up to burnt coffee! Also keeps the brew warm throughout the am routine. it is a push to say it’s warm for hours, but still perfect after two! The cone filter is awesome; they provide a better brewing surface over all.

Love the gold filter provided with the machine! All features considered, this coffeemaker fits my needs: ability to hit the snooze button and wake up to a nice cup of well brewed coffee every morning! Also great for the weekend lingering coffee session while you wait for the rest of the family to wake up! Highly recommend this machine!.

Very nice coffeemaker – keeps coffee very hot. Simple to use. Only minor complaint is the almost complete inability to empty the carafe totally. I keep a measuring cup nearby to fill with water as using the carafe is clumsy.

When you pour the coffee from the carafe, when it gets near the end, you literally have to hold the carafe almost upside down. I understand the neck of the carafe has to be narrow to fit under the filter area so it is just a minor inconvenience.

Definitely would order this again. I’ve used it for about a month now.

If you are looking for a coffeemaker with a carafe (i. e. , not a hotplate), you will definitely want to check this one out. Simple to set up and to use. First time using a permanent coffee filter and it works really well.

Goodbye paper filters. If you make a pot more than half full, you will be fine with the coffee temperature. If you make less than half a pot and like your coffee hot, I suggest to pre-heat the carafe.

Run 2 or 3 cups of water first through the coffee maker without the filter, to heat up the carafe, then put coffee filter in, empty the carafe of the hot water, add water to the amount you want and run it.

Very satisfied with purchase.

Cuisinart® Coffee Center™ 12 cup Coffee Maker & Single-Serve Brewer is poorly designed. It is better to have 2 separate units. On the single serve side, the maker is too high so that the coffee splatters before reaching the cups.

(Note: move the 12 cup carafe out of the way and be prepared to wipe up everything around the coffee maker as the single serve brews. ) It defeats the purpose of getting coffee right into your one cup by not using another decanter that is higher to catch the coffee or prop up the cup up to meet the coffee flow.

Also, when using the Home Barista Filter Cup with the mesh filter to use your own coffee instead of the pods, you get a lot of sediment because it cannot filter it like a paper filter. I am also disappointed in the taste of the coffee when using the single serve if not using a K-Cup type premade pod.

I bought this thinking it was a good idea because I want to use my own coffee and make different cups or flavors for guests. I don’t want to invest in pods all the time. And, if you want another cup quickly for someone else or yourself you need to wash the single serve Home Barista Filter Cup or purchase more from Cuisinart – an added expense and still a nuisance to clean all these Home Barista Filter Cups.

Personally, this is too much trouble. As far as the 12 cup coffee maker, it makes good coffee. My suggestion is if you want a large coffee maker and a smaller one buy two units.

It would be nice to have the ability to change the tone and volume of the “beep” including a mute/no-beep option. Markings on the brew pod cup for aligning the holder are not obvious or easy to see. It would be better if the alignment markings were in the front as opposed to the rear of the machine where it is harder to see.

If you don’t have the arrows aligned, the hinged cover doesn’t close properly. The pod cup that comes with the machine to allow you to use your own grounds (instead of k-cups) has a very flimsy plastic hinge.

It looks like it will break off and cease to be a useable hinge after a few uses (because of that we stopped using it). Could not find after-market holders that fit properly either. The brewing coffee pot also suffers from visible demarkation to align the top easily.

Initially I didn’t see the small arrow markings since they are molded into the black plastic and initially do not visibly stand out. The removable brew basket has this same problem as does the pod holder.

The brewing coffee reservoir is extremely difficult to fill using the pot for a few couple of reasons: 1) The fill locations are difficult to pour water into without spilling/missing. It only has a couple of awkward 2×2 openings located in the back of the machine and it easy to miss the openings without a funnel.

2) The coffee pot cannot be fully emptied of water without inverting it nearly upside down due to the width of the pot itself (this is probably what makes it successful at retaining the heat due to the large vaccuum space) meaning that the top rim of the pot keeps 2oz of liquid in the pot.

3) The fill markings on the side of the reservoir are difficult to read especially when adding water. It is easy to overfill – fortunately there is a overfill hole that will prevent it from overfilling but unfortunately will spill onto your counter making a mess.

We like it, so far, however it has a few flaws I would like to see corrected. First, when we purchased it one of the parts that holds the filter in place was already broken. We could have returned it for another one, but with Covid and a long ride to the store, we decided to keep it.

The area where you put water in to make a pot vs. k-cup is too small and I have to insert a funnel in order to not spill water all over my counter every time. I think it is a poor design for filling.

Yet, we enjoy it just the same. I like the versatility of it so we can make a full pot of coffee on some mornings and I enjoy setting the timer and having it ready when I get up. I also like to make decaf later in the day as well as tea.

I think it makes good coffee, which certainly is an important feature to us. The thing that punctures the k-cups has not seemed sharp enough at times and we have had a few k-cups explode and make a huge mess, as well.

That clean up was annoying and we wasted a few cups of coffee because of that. So, an improvement on how it pieces the tops of K-cups is warranted. Though, again, we really like this device. We tossed out our Keurig when we got this at our Keurig leaked and never gave us a full cup of coffee.

I really like that brew sizes of the single brew area as well and they are true to what one would expect. I’m glad this unit doesn’t leak all the time like the Keurig we had did.

The Readers Digest version of this review is that it makes better coffee than any other method or maker I?ve tried. However, this great coffee is not without a few problems. Problem number one is the thermal carafe, I go the extra mile and heat the carafe up with boiling hot water.

Even with the boiling hot water heat up I still can only get the coffee to stay hot for about an hour and a half. Problem number two, there are seven fiddly bit parts that you gotta keep track of that most other coffee makers don?t need or bother with.

When I?m done making coffee it looks like my children have left their toys on the counter. If either of these two relatively minor problems aren?t an issue for you than this really does make the best coffee.

The reason it makes the best coffee is that it gets the water to the right temperature and they?ve designed the filter basket holder to drain the brewed coffee a little bit slower so you have more time for the hot water and coffee to interact and you get a better extraction.

I use a 21 water to 1 ground coffee ratio.

Bought my first Moccamaster in 2008 or 2009. Always made excellent coffee. The only issues we ever had were attributable to user error. For those whose basket overflowed: the only time that ever happened to us was when the setting on the drip basket was closed.

As to the comments concerning complicated assembly I can only surmise a lack of sleep is at play because this is one simple machine. Honestly. Put your filter in the brew basket, fill with coffee, put water in the tank, put pt under brew basket, push a toggle switch.

December 2019 my husband purchased a new one as the neck on the pot’s handle assembly looked like a crack was developing. After 10 years use without replacing a single part we just thought it might be time to replace the entire system – after all, everything has a life span.

So in to the house comes our new machine with no real changes: the bottom of the new carafe has a production date stamped on it, the pot lid has a slightly different gasket. If after 12 years there is no change in design and the item is still being sold in the same stores, that is a relatively good indicator that most customers are happy.

“Don’t fix what isn’t broke. ” As to the comments about holding coffee hot: treat this carafe as any Thermos. Before brewing coffee with hot water. I usually run a tank of hot water into the carafe, then go about filling the tank with water, measure out my coffee, then dump the hot water out and brew my coffee.

If you don’t do this, basic scientific principles come into play: the hot coffee will lose some of its temperature to the cold pot thereby making the coffee cooler and the pot warmer. All in all, this pot makes excellent coffee! Spreading the cost of the pot out over 10+ years makes it a very affordable options.

If you like lukewarm coffee then this is the machine for you. Seriously, what a disappointment that even my first cup of coffee is not very hot. The thermal carafe does not preserve heat at all, even when closed with a lid on it.

The machine itself makes typical Moccamaster caliber coffee, it just doesn’t stay hot post-drip. When I reached out to manufacturer, they suggested boiling water and pre-heating the carafe. If the thermal carafe doesn’t keep the coffee hot then what exactly are the benefits of this model? The manufacturer responded: durability.

I can’t return it to Crate and Barrel because I’ve used it already so I’ve already bought another machine (with a hot plate) and I suppose I will store this one indefinitely.
