I was a bitty sceptical when I bought this, but as it carried the Fluval name, I decided it was worth a try. My tank wall is 11 mm thick, so you can see why I was sceptical as to whether it would be capable of giving a true water reading within it’s own parameters.
It proved to be extremely accurate, I was really surprised. I checked it against the reading on my digital heater at the other end of my 5Ft long tank and they agreed to within 1 Degree C. I doubled checked by putting a thermometer probe in the water at the end with the Fluval thermometer, and again got to within 1 Degree C.
I love the way it gives me a dual reading, giving me room temp. too. I see this being a boon in hot weather letting me know when the room temp might mean I need to look out my aquarium fans. I most definitely endorse this piece of equipment.
Once again another fluval item that has not let me down. It is great, and precise reading. With its nice large screen telling you room temperature and aquarium temperature I tested it with another thermometer that goes in the water and this fluval that goes on the outside of you aquarium glass is the same reading.

This aquarium thermometer is excellent! it has a magnet which you place on the outside of your aquarium while the thermometer itself is placed inside and held in place with the magnet on the outside.
The thermometer is also incased inside plastic material, so the whole setup is safe. This is much better than a suction cup inside the tank which most times falls and then the unprotected thermometer breaks when it falls getting mercury inside the aquarium.
I have a digital aquarium thermometer that I use to test any other thermometer I buy. So I tested this one and it reads the same temp as my digital one. I recommend all aquarium owners have an accurate digital thermometer to test these types of thermometers with.

these digital thermometers are working and seem to be reading temp correctly. My only suggestion is the LED is hard to read and a light button would be a great help when trying to read the temp.

Really good and excellent product. Cheap but really good as it can be taken off tank and replaced else where whilst still in good condition eould recommend for any fish or reptile owners or basically anybody who needs to keep check of a certain temperature.
this product was cheap and small so i shouldn’t have expected much from it. It works by highlighting a certain temperature with a colour. This worked well for roughly 3 days, and then all of the numbers showed the same colour and the temperature was indistinguishable.
i would recommend buying a proper thermometer that contains mercury rather than a colour changing device.
Although the thermometer worked it doesnt seem to take the water temperature it seems to take the room temperature. I had it on my cold water tank and read 24 degrees, i stuck a glass one in and it read 16 degrees.

This thing is really small. The green safe zone (72 to 80 degrees) is just an 1/8″ high. That comes out to 1/32″ between the lines and every line is 2 degrees. It is nearly impossible to see which of the lines match the mercury level.
The good part is that it seems to be accurate. I just have to get out a magnifying glass if I want to be a little more specific than “somewhere in the middle of the safe zone”.

Thought the heater was defective but nope…digital probe read a toasty 75. 6. I even stuck the thermometer in a cup of hot tap water to see if that would make it move and nada. I threw it in the trash.
Don’t waste your time spend the extra money on a better quality thermometer or a digital one.
This thermometer is nice. Does what it is supposed to. It might read a few degrees lower than the actual temperature though. If you have a small tank, do yourself a favor and spring for the digital thermometer.
The temp in a small tank could potentially vary too much to allow for this kind of discrepancy. For a larger tank, this probably does just fine.

Did several checks and the Oase gauge was accurate. The heater was working well but due to being hidden in a tank design did not heat the water all around the tank properly.

My new tank requires a 78° temp and right off the get go, this thermometer was measuring at 75° which was a momentary reason for concern. After measuring the actual water temp at 78° inside the tank with multiple devices on different occasions, this thermometer was always still at 75°.
I realized this surface thermometer is just consistently low. Not sure if the ambient air temp contaminates the reading or what but it’s not accurate but it is consistent which makes it useable. As long as it’s reading 75°, I know it’s actually 78° in the tank.
The fact that I can quickly glance at it and be confidant in the interior tank temp is good enough I guess. At this price, it does what I need it to do but you can certainly do better.

Item was very small and did not register the temperature of the water in the tank. If it did happen to register something it was very hard to read and tell what the actual temperature was. I would not recommend this product.

ADA is a top brand in the world of aquascaping. However, after I bought their product, I’m starting to think that it’s the brand name that they are selling instead of the literally excellent quality.
Of the two thermometers I got, both of them have a minor crack at the junction of the bulb and the main body part which really looks like it’s broken. There are some tiny scratches on the bulb of the second thermometer that I got which looks like it’s been used but it doesn’t make sense cuz I just open it.
To be frank, I’m very disappointed cuz its price is about 4 or 5 fold more expensive than other similar products. I’m gonna be sceptical about their product quality in the future. (I’m sure it’s not the techden guys fault but their poor product quality.
