I absolutely love my Good Grips Digital Thermometer. I definitely recommend this product to everyone. This product is perfect for a new beginner,or a professional chef and all those in between too. I love cooking and am not a professional chef but I feel like one thanks to this incredible product.

I love all the features of this product. It has a pivoting head so I am able to read it no matter what angle I look, it also has a really thin tip so I get a quicker read and a more accurate temperature read out as well.

I also love that the cover of the probe had all the different types of meats there is and what temperature it needs to be as well. I really love this product and don’t know how I ever made it with out this product.

This is such a great product! First of all, the quality is amazing! It’s really easy to use and it’s super durable too! The thermometer itself reads temperatures really fast and easily. The screen on the thermometer is a decent size too, and it’s easy to read the temperature! I like that the cap for the thermometer tells you what temperature each meat should be too! It’s really handy to have that! Cleaning the thermometer is really easy too! Some soap and water after you use it, only on the probe, and that should clean it.

If you want to disinfect the probe even further, you can stick the tip of it in boiling water for a minute or so and it will be disinfected! Just don’t get the top part wet or you will ruin it! All in all, I do recommend this thermometer! It has been super nice and super helpful to me! Give it a try, you will be happy you did!.

The red face color that makes it readable began disappearing after 1st use. After several uses, the red markings had turned brown and were unreadable unless oven door was opened to see it. Within 6 months I had to open the door and check with a flashlight even though the oven has a working light.

After a year, even the glass in front of the markings was discoloring.

I bought this to replace an older version on the same thermometer. They were almost 30 degrees different. I then bought a fancy oven air probe from another company and found that both Taylors were off, the older by ten and the newer one by 30 degrees.

Don’t waste your money, get something nicer if you really need to know the temp, this is not a useful tool.

This is the best gauge I have ever used. Mainly because the numbers are larger enabling me to see the temp. So far it has been very accurate. The only thing I did was to use a twist tie to secure it more tightly from the lower rack, as it swirled around too much when I took things in and out from oven.

Love it!.

I purchased this item in November 2020, it stopped working less than a year later, in Aug 2021 despite careful hand washing (wipe with sponge) of the probe end and never once submerging in water or wetting of the the handle/battery compartment.

Even bought new batteries for it but the display does not read properly regardless. Very disappointed for completely unusable item after less than a year’s use for a higher end priced item. Item should be replaced/refunded but is not eligible.

Do NOT recommend.

I HATED grilling. I can see when the food is burned so I never wanted that. But when I’d cook it to “less than burned” I often plated the food, added sides, turned off the grill and cleaned it only to then realize that the burgers were still undercooked inside.

Frustration abounded from both sides and the grill was used infrequently. Now, with this thermometer, it was like a cheat code. Every chicken leg, every piece of steak, every burger was cooked EXACTLY to the correct temperature every time.

It was a game-changer for the couple of weeks I had it before it stopped working. Still gets 5-stars, though, as I can’t blame the manufacturer my kids putting it in the dishwasher. I guess I’d give it 4.

9 stars and add that maybe you could make it impervious to water in the future. In summary, it was a brief but passionate love that was cut short by a tragic accident. Though the device itself has died, the love for grilling it has awakened inside of me never will.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and finally had the opportunity to use it. I made steaks and each person wanted theirs cooked differently. After using the thermometer on the first steak I was very happy.

Got the temp within a second or so, the temp was right where I needed it to be. I followed up with the others with the same success. After serving the food I was concerned that the temp may have been off by a few degrees.

NOPE!!! Steaks were done perfectly. Everyone was happy. There was no guesswork involved. I didn’t have to make sure I was at a perfect angle to ensure the reading was correct, I didn’t have to wait a long time and let the needle works its way up, etc.

Great addition to the kitchen for sure.

It stays in the meat, even in 450 degree ovens. Liquid not a dial. Easy to read. Best part is the glass is covered by metal. Don’t dishwasher this. Heck, just wipe off the probe. The numbers might come off og the gauge if you get it wet.

But that’s ok, if you’re careful.

This thermometer is simple but sturdy will measure the temperature of water needed to proof your yeast. Well made and will last for many years with good care. A must baking tool for every bread baker.

The thermometer I received register to 180 The Taylor thermometer that I had register 185 for poultry not 165. I felt that I was sent the wrong thermometer. However, I received a refund from Walmart mail order and the person that help me was extremely professional and courteous.

The plastic covering/insulation on the probe wire melts at something like 375 degrees. The probe also has a plastic piece on it. If either of them touches your oven rack, a metal pan or food that’s hotter than that, they melt.

Because of that, you can’t leave this thermometer inside your oven. Only someone who doesn’t cook would design it that way. There are other thermometers that have probes and probe wires with no plastic.

Shop around.

Has this thing sat overnight in soapy water? Yes. Multiple times? Yes Has it been dropped? Yes. Did my son run it through the dishwasher? Yes. Does my daughter try to use the probe to open coconuts? Yes.

Does it still work? Yes!After all that it still works fine. I dont know who engineered this, but my hats off to you. If it finally dies after the many years of service we have gotten we can only hope to buy another.

We may buy another just in case.

I love this thermometer, had one and mistakenly landed in the dishwater which messed it up so ordered another. Works easily, can hang it on a hook. I have a lot of “instant” thermometers, but this is the best one I’ve used.

Excellent thermometer. HOWEVER, IT IS VERY FRAGILE. It will quite working if it gets any moisture in the battery compartment, is subjected to rapid temperature increase, is subjected to bumping. Just use it carefully.

This thermometer is exactly what I needed to replace the one I had for over ten years. It comes in a great case. It is the perfect size. It is very easy to use and read.

Purchased this meat thermometer to replace our old one we had for 19 years and it is working great. I highly recommend this model. It has markings that indicate how deep into the meat you place it to get an accurate read, the dial is easy to read, and the thermometer cover has all the proper temperatures for any particular cut of meat or poultry.

You cannot leave this type of thermometer in your meat while it is cooking, and the instructions wisely remind you NOT to submerge the temperature dial under water ( that is how our old thermometer met its demise).

I gave this thermometer only 3 stars but still wanted to recommend it for both its merit and fault. Merit: it Is good for what it is meant for, quick in telling temperature of a big chunk of meat, by “big” I mean that it has to be almost 3″ either in longth or width.

Fault: it is almost useless for anything else, because you are supposed to insert the whole almost 3″ long grey area on the probe into the object that you want to take temperature for, anything that is smaller therefore does not allow inserting the whole length will not do.

I took pains to find out these things because I have little confidence in digital thermometers and really wanted this thermometer to work. I put it into boiling water to test its accuracy the first thing after receiving it.

But it reached 180f and refused to go to 210f, which is the right temperature. Then I read the manual and realized that it was accurately reading the average temperature of boiling water and the cooler air on top of the water.

I would recommend this product to those who need an analogue thermometer only for big chunk of meat. I had to retuned it, for I usually cook smaller portions.

It’s worth the extra money to buy this thermometer. It looks, feels, and works so much better than some of the thermometers I’ve bought under $10 at discount stores. I like the cover that has the suggested temps for different meats, etc.

The Taylor wired thermometer is a vey handy kitchen gadget for me. I make things in a small toaster oven frequently and this lets me know when something is done to the proper temperature. My regular oven already has a meat thermometer but since there’s just two of us in the home, we don’t use the big oven to heat up certain small items.

I made some frozen egg rolls the other day and the instructions said they should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees. The directions say to cook them for 12-15 minutes, or something like that but my little toaster oven doesn’t have an accurate timer so I usually just turn it on and look at the clock.

It’s hit or miss if I remember when I’m supposed to take the item out but now with this thermometer, I put the probe in an egg roll, set the temperature for 165 degrees(one of the pre-set temps available) and walk away.

When the egg roll reaches 165, the alarm goes off and they are cooked to perfection. So far this thermometer works very well for my needs and I’d recommend it. I also plan on using this when I cook meats in my smoker.

When I smoke meats now, either ribs, brisket, or pork butt, I have to open the smoker and use a hand-held meat thermometer and get a reading. This method does not take long, but it does let heat out of the smoker.

Now that I have this wired thermometer, I won’t have to open the door to get an accurate reading and can just take the meat out when it reaches the proper temp. I was given this item as a gift to test and review.

It works very well and is handy to have if you have the need.

Although you might think of it as any other thermometer, the addition of a timer built within the thermometer certainly helps a lot. Also, you have the ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

The instructions were easy to understand and batteries are included. I found the cord from the sensor to the thermometer to be long enough for any of my oven racks. It also is a great price for something that is so useful and will save you time in the kitchen! Opening and shutting the oven door continuously drops the temperature of your oven so not having to open the door at all definitely speeds up the cooking time overall when you’re not having to keep checking the temperature.

I was gifted with this product, (model 1487, a digital cooking timer/thermometer by Taylor), for the purpose of giving an honest review. Since this was my first time using a digital wired probe thermometer, I was a little timid at first.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy this product was to use. I cooked a pork roast to perfection by using this product. The instruction manual was easy to follow with step-by-step instructions. A diagram of the product was included that had all the components labeled.

This helped to simplify programming the device. Directions on how to clean and care for this product are clear and concise. The battery (AAA) was included which was helpful. After programming the desired internal temperature into the device, the stainless-steel probe was easily inserted into the roast.

The silicone cord was easy to attach and was more than ample in length. The magnet on the back of the thermometer was helpful as I could attach the product to my oven door thus saving room on my counter top for preparing the rest of the meal.

An added feature I found useful was the internal cooking temperatures for different meats printed in bold on the back of the outer packaging for quick access. The display numbers for the target temperature are easy to read and monitor the actual temperature without having to open the oven door.

The alarm signaled upon reaching the desired temperature. The guess work has been taken out of cooking food by using product. The product is compact; easy to clean and store in a kitchen drawer. I would highly recommend this product to my friends and family.

I ordered this thinking this gadget can’t really work. I have baked cakes for years depending on the ole’ toothpick testing method. To my amazement it really does work. I bought another for backup!

I order this thermometer for a friend of mine that loves to bake. This will be one of my Christmas gifts that I give her.

This is not my first and nor will it be my last thermometer from Thermoworks. I got a dot and the appropriate oven probe to keep track of the oven temperature. We have an old oven that is a little iffy in the setting department, but once we hit the right temperature it holds it great.

I have the dot attached to the back of the stove with the probe in the oven. The large display is easily seen and allows me to adjust the temperature of the oven accordingly. I can set the alarm to let me know when it has pre-heated to the proper temp.

I could probably swap out the air probe for the meat probe when cooking, haven’t tried that yet.

Bought this for mother-in-law to replace an old-fashioned oven thermometer that was hard to use and impossible to read without taking the food out of the oven. We chose it because it is crazy simple to use.

She did not want some fancy modern device, but loved it as soon as she tried it. She used it so much that we had to get her a new probe because, as we knew she would, she mistreated it badly. We don’t blame the probe at all.

What a gorgeous cooking thermometer. It comes with a probe cover that makes it look like a fancy pen–clip and all. I guess we could wear this in our pocket if we want. The top has a key ring, to hang it on a wall or wherever else.

I put this thermometer to the test by comparing it with another brand I already own. This thermometer has a thicker and longer probe. It also spits out the temperature almost instantaneously, whereas my other one takes awhile to stabilize.

The readings were consistent with each other. They both read in Celsius and Fahrenheit and the screens were easy to read. I would recommend spending more money on something of better quality. This stopped working on me after not even two months of use. Also, they call this an Instant Read thermometer, however, it takes up to 30 seconds for it to come up to the temperature of the item being measured.

30 seconds is not instant.

Don’t read all these bad reviews. I’ve had mine for 4 years and it still works and looks great. Sometimes the plastic top part does pop off if you pick it up wrong but it easily pops back in so I don’t get what the problem is.

I use mine for cooking and baking.

This is actually my second Taylor thermometer and I’m completely sold. They last forever, I just purchase this new one because my previous model was damaged after working for nearly 7 years. Very durable, and really fast read.

The probe is really long and allows you to stick thru holder to safely insert into hot items. The vast range of temps make is useful for more than just tempting proteins.

I bought this to accurately measure the temperature of milk when making yogurt at home. It does steam up inside a bit at first making it hard to read, but this does seem to clear after a while. I find it slips on the edge of the pan but this might be my pan as it has a thin rim.

It is a bit annoying, but has enable me to successfully make yogurt at home.

I bought this to try and perfect my honeycomb making. I had bought a larger (non battery) one which was way to cumbersome to fit in the pan. This product is the right size and able to fit my pans with the adjustable clip it comes with.

So far this product has helped me near perfect my honeycomb. it is also very easy to clean. I look forward to using it for other recipes.

Was very hard to read temperature when using to make tablet, and then the paper bit inside kept moving so couldnt be confident temperature was right anyway. I highly recommend investing in a much more robust sugar thermometer and avoid this one.

The product worked great when I 1st got it. easy to use. They are not clear on how you change the battery and once you open it to do that it never goes back together the proper way. plus no instructions on how to remove battery.

it definitely doesnt just Pop-out. And putting it back together it doesnt just pop back on. I am a woman. so this might just be a man-thing. Dont like that I have to throw it away now because I cant figure it out.

I’m so happy I ordered this thermometer! It reads temperatures so quickly, much faster than my other ‘instant’ read thermometer. I wish it had a simple on/off button rather than pushing the button a third time and holding on the third press for 5 seconds.

gets annoying when you’re probing for temps MANY times. I don’t want to leave it on to wear out the battery. That being said, I still prefer this to the other three thermometers I have in the house. It’s probe is very thin compared to the others I have which makes it hard to see where I’ve probed baked goods.

It’s also longer so I don’t have to worry about touching the plastic cavity on the hot food. Excellent purchase for me.

I like this thermometer, I really do but it’s far from perfect. First off all, it’s not instant read. It can take several seconds if you’re reading something HOT. Second of all the thermometer separates from the storage sleeve easier than I would like to see.

Thirdly the clip is not all that strong. So it might separate from your jacket pocket easier than what you might expect. With all that being said, it’s not a bad little thermometer for the price.
