20 Best Thermometer For Brewing (2022 Updated)

This thermometer rules!! I was using a digital one before and hated it because it kept switching from F to C!! I guess I’m old skool and just want a simple fail proof thermometer!! I’m a newbie so this thing has helped me allot! I’m just going to keep using it as I love seeing it’s ready (in the green) and that’s so helpful when you are half asleep haha! It’s easy to clean and the clip does not move around.

This would make an amazing gift or stocking stuffer too!.

Thermometer is quite large (I did get the large model) and suitable for large milk jugs. The clamp strength is excellent, holding the thermometer exactly where you placed it. Unfortunately you do have to keep it very dry as I didn’t fully dry my milk jug after washing before putting the thermometer back in and the next day there were spots of rust on the clamp.

Good product, simple and easy to use. I wish there were a mark at 37° Celsius, at the end of the first stage of frothing, but the dial is easy to read and it’s not a show stopper at all. I like this thermometer.

Analog dials are so much simpler and trouble-free, compared to digital gadgets.

I am really impressed with this Chef IQ Smart Thermometer. You can tell just by the packaging alone that this is a high quality product. After removing the packaging, the thermometer comes with a sleek looking rectangular box known as the “hub”.

That is where you charge the thermometer (probe) and it also “talks” to you. You must first download the Chef IQ app to get started. The instructions are simple and straightforward. You have to pair the hub with your bluetooth and register it.

It charges really quickly, just a matter of a few minutes and holds a charge for 40 hours. Once it’s set up and charged you can start cooking. The app is so easy to use. I was able to grill a piece of salmon without having to stand at the grill.

I was also able to monitor the temperature of the salmon and the grill at the same time. It also alerted me when it was time to flip the salmon over and when it was done. This saved me so much time not having to run back and forth the check to see if it was done or not! I am looking forward to using this when I cook a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.

The app is also loaded with step by step recipes and videos using the probe amongst other cool features. I think the Chef IQ Smart Thermometer is completely worth the investment and highly recommend it.

Both F-C temp readings. which is perfect for my Chemical photo lab applications. The machine measures everything out in Celsius so I use this to double check the actuals and verify the internal readings are accurate.

have tenth degree accuracy was critical for me and this nails it. Easy to operate, easy to read for these tired old eyes. I only with it auto shut off, some times I forget to turn it off. But I’m still on the original batteries.

It serves the purpose. barely. It is cheaply made. I later saw a better Taylor digital thermometer in the supermarket for a dollar less. Of course it was after I purchased this one. Because of the poor construction and the recent/current virus crisis I think I will look for American made products rather than Chinese manufactured ones.

This thermometer is really easy to use. I bought it for my husband but I have ended up using it way more than him (as I worry about thicker meats when I’m cooking and hate cutting the meat before it’s ready).

I hated digging through all of his grill stuff to find it, but it was worth looking. Anywho, he ended up buying me one to keep in my kitchen and I use it lots. We both love this thermometer and both of ours has held up really good over the past few years.

The reason I am writing this review so many years later is because I learned something new about this thermometer the other day. Our Health thermometer died and I thought I had a temp so I used the grill thermometer on the “user” setting ( I thought it was kind of funny because the user was indeed taking their own temp).

It read my body temp like a regular thermometer. When I went to the doctor she thought I may have a low thyroid, so she scheduled a test for me, but told me in the meantime I could take my temp first thing in the morning before I get out of bed for 4 days and that I needed to use a basal thermometer (which I didn’t have) so I told her about my charbroil thermometer which she thought was a brilliant idea.

Lol anyway it’s a great thermometer for many reasons! That’s all folks :).

I set the user temp to 190 F so I can check my baked goods, especially loaves of bread. When the internal temp is 190 to 200 F, the bread is done. The long temp sensor will easily get to the center of a loaf.

I have been using this for about 3 years and cannot bake without it.

I bought 3, after trying one. Cooking steak night at local VFW. Cooking 4 Types of Beef Steak, Pork Steaks, & 10 oz Hamburger Steaks on gas fired slotted grill. Used 1 for each type of meat. Got nothing but raves for matching requests.

Large dial and is great help in the kitchen for making homemade yogurt and cheeses.

After more research than I would like to admit to, I found this unit that does it all. Candy, meat, body temp. it measures everything quickly and there is a hold button and there is a calibration process.

and the probe is not too short. There is a light and a hold button so you don’t have to crane your head into the oven to get a reading. Only unknown so far is how long the battery will last as these button batteries are not cheap.

As you can see I am pleased. even has a magnet to hold to metal pot or store on frig when not in use. This ThermoPro is a touchdown. unless it quits. and if it does I will revise my opinion. Walmart beats Amazon in so many ways nowadays.

Friend of mine gave me this handy little thermometer since he knew how much I grill out. I’ve always been a huge fan of ThermoPro products since they just seem to be as good a quality as the much more expensive brands at a much lower cost.

They seem to have been listening to me when it came to some upgrades. I’ve always had to just stick the thermometer in my pocket because the shelves of my grill were always full of stuff. This pen is equipped with magnets so I can just stick it to the side of the grill.

Also, clean up is now a breeze since this one is waterproof. It’s always the little things that make me happy. This one also includes the ability to calibrate it which is nice in case it ever does seem off.

All in all, this is a nice thermometer for the price and you can never go wrong with the customer service at ThermoPro if you ever need them.

I have purchased three handheld thermometers, and each one has given me random temperature readings to where I cannot trust them anymore. I went online and did my research extensively. This particular thermometer is very accurate.

However, do not use this or any other handheld thermometers around electronics. iPhones, computers, TV, just go to a place that has no electronics because these handheld devices can show a false reading unless you are literally away from electronics.

I use mine in the bathroom. What I love about this particular model is that you just point and pull. You are done.

The iProven thermometer is a great addition to my first aid kit. It is so useful when it comes to sick kids. As any person who has cared for a sick child knows, it’s nearly impossible to get a sick child to sleep.

Once they are finally asleep, waking them is the ultimate dreaded task. Without waking my kids, I can check their temperature and make sure that their medications are working. I love that this has several indicators of an above-normal temperature.

I bought this thermometer because I wanted to be able to check the ambient and meat temperature without having to open my smoker door. After about 2 hours of smoking a brisket I noticed the ambient temperature measured on the probe was about 50 degrees higher than my smokers thermometer.

I then checked the probe in my brisket against my instant read thermometer (which I know is accurate) and it was about 12 degrees higher. Please note this was only 2 hours into the cook. I can’t imagine how far off it would be if I left it in for the full 10 hour smoke.

Needless to say, I returned it. As the saying goes, “You get what you pay for”.

I bought other types of food thermometers before, but never this type! Wow, was missing out, big time! What a great investment, if you cook a lot or not! Temperature is extremely important to anything you cook: stove top, oven, grill, etc.

This allows me to leave the thermometer into the meat, bread, candy, etc. while they cook. It has an alarm that tell you when the ideal or pre-set temperature has been reached: you cannot miss it! It saved my salmon! If you don’t cook much – one more reason to buy this: it has temperature list on the side.

Overall: This thermometer does an accurate job with measuring temperatures. I have used this for lots of things thus far and it has worked like a charm! The Good: – The plastic on the grip is very nice to the tough.

It feels rubberized and allows for a firm grasp. – The power saving feature works very well. After using the thermometer it turns off quite quickly to save power; this is very efficient. – The interface is very user friendly! The buttons are all self explanatory and work well.

– The laser is accurate to the temperature sensor. This is obviously dependent on the distance from the object being recorded. – The start-up time on the device is very quick. This is beneficial since the power turns off so rapidly.

The Bad: – The plastic is not very tough. I was placing the battery and the plastic broke on the handle. This is a bummer just because it is broken, but without closely inspecting the device it would never be noticed.

I bought this thermometer to use for handmade soap making and candle making. I like this thermometer because I don’t have to insert a thermometer into liquids to get a reading (which makes it a safer choice than a traditional metal thermometer).

What I don’t like about this thermometer is that it is not an instant-read thermometer. To be fair, I don’t know if an instant-read laser thermometer even exists. It will give you a quick reading, but you have to hold the trigger for awhile to get an accurate temperature.

I bought this thermometer because this brand was recommended by other soap makers. I don’t know if a more expensive model would give a quicker reading. When I tried to compare the different models before purchasing, the only major difference I could tell was how high or low of a temperature reading it would give.

The price was right and I am not disappointed that I bought it. If a quicker response time is desirable, I’d compare it with the more expensive models before buying.

This thermometer is amazing value and incredibly accurate for the money. I bought it mainly to measure caravan LPG gas levels by detecting the temperature difference between the gas and the lower temp of the liquid.

However there are so many uses for it, example looking for binding car brakes by checking temperature of brake discs. Checking solid fuel stove working temperatures, this tool read exactly the same temp as an expensive thermometer strapped to the chimney.

My tests have proved that this device is very accurate as long as you are no further away from the object than 60 cm and don’t expect accurate readings on shiny surfaces or through glass. All in all a cracking tool, fast results at a very good price.

I used this thermometer to take my child’s temperature before school to meet the COVID-19 “safe return to school” requirements. The reading was consistently off by a minimum of 5 degrees. It would sometimes give a temperature of 89 degrees F; this is after I controlled for things like distance to the forehead and moving hair out of the way.

Don’t waste your time buying this one. There’s no point saving a few dollars to get a device that isn’t remotely accurate.
