20 Best Thermometer For Grilling (2022 Updated)

Alright so I thought this would be a good idea since I wanted to do the keto diet. Well although its effective as far as making you sleep and giving ypu a little more energy it also makes you very sick.

I threw up and had uncontrollable diareaah everyday. Not to mention it gave me sulfur burps. And just when you thought the meds had wore off an overwhelming feeling of nausa took over and no matter what you ate it come back up in some form.

It got to the point I had to hold a bucket to throw up in while dying on the toliet. Made it hard to work and care for my children for if the sudden feeling popped up and you didnt make it to the bathroom you were subject to prob poop your pants.

It would wake you up out of a dead sleep needing to run yo the bathroom because the diareaah was so intense. I do not reccommend this product unless your intention is to be bulimic and you enjoy sulfur burps nausa and diareaah.

Great, I been taking this product for maybe a month, and I can tell it works. I’m not as hungry as I use to be and do not crave sweets as much as before starting this product. The p. m. I do notice I sleep better and do not wake up in the middle of the night hungry or craving sweets, Only thing I notice is I have to force myself to drink water, could because it is winter and I’m not that thirsty.

This probe worked well for about one month before it started displaying inaccurate temperatures. Now it tells me that a cut of meat is 165 degrees when I just took it out of the fridge.

I’ve had this for the better part of 6 months, it was a gift from the misses for Father’s day. The battery on this is awesome. I don’t think I’ve had to recharge it once in all that time. That’s having used it approximately 75-100 hours.

We live in Utah where we get all seasons and all types of weather. This thermometer has held up very well in snow, rain or high heat. The temperature readings seem pretty accurate, I would say within 1-2 degrees at most when compared with a single probe thermometer or when the probes are reading general climate temperature.

My biggest complaint on these is the probes themselves get extremely hot on the handle part. I don’t even know what a good solution would be since the entire probe is aluminum, and has to be encased in high heat environments for long periods of time.

The manufacturer did put a strong warning on the probes but it’s easy to forget when you’re trying to pull hot meat off the grill and you try to quickly pull those little fire pokers out of the way and end up with a mean blister.

It took a few of those experiences but I eventually learned. I always use a hot pad to move the probes now and let them cool outside. Overall would recommend this to friends and family!.

I liked this product very much overall, but will be returning it. It was not good for our needs. We cook chicken (breast or tenderloins), steak tips, and burgers most often. Unfortunately, the probes themselves are too thick and heavy to be supported by these types of cuts.

I found that the probe worked “ok” for a chicken breast, if inserted lengthwise before cooking, but the issue then becomes when flipping the chicken, the probe and attached wire can point down toward the fire.

The other issue is, that because the probes are straight, when having all four in use, it is really difficult to keep the wires away from each other, from going across other meat on the grill etc. I’ve seen many thermometers with a curved probe, which would serve two good purposes.

the curve can easily be repositioned when flipping the meat to keep the cord away from the grill surface and it can also be used to keep the wires up higher to keep the wires from tangling with each other or keep it from resting across other pieces of meat.

Overall, I really liked this product, the app was good, the temperature readings were accurate, but the probes are just too heavy and cumbersome for the types of meat that I cook most often. If shorter lighter probes of only a half inch or so were offered (so it could rest across the top of a steak tip and go straight down into the tip, be removed when the tip is flipped, then reinserted) or probes with a curve, it would be REALLY helpful.

Have used it twice now and so far so good. Nice to set it and walk away and still read the temp in my house while doing other things.

Works well. Seems to be accurate temp-wise. Requires one AAA battery (not included). Activates when probe opened. Have not found a way to cause temp in Fahrenheit as default when turning on. I called the quality “good” because it meets expectations for performance but feels a little fragile so cannot comment about durability yet.

The GDealer is excellent. The large screen makes it easy to read. An added feature is the voice that will tell you the temp – great at night. Some “complained” that the probe was difficult to open but we have no problems and, frankly, can’t see where there could be a problem.

It’s compact and the battery is very easily accessible.

Works well. Only criticism I have is that the one I received does not exactly look like the picture shown. There is no temperature guide on the thermometer, but it did come with a separate paper guide.

I was hesitant to spend this kind of money on a thermometer, but I took the plunge after one too many disappointing brisket results. Just a couple of cooks in and it’s proven it’s worth its weight in gold.

The ambient thermometer showed that the temp gauge on my smoker was way off (explaining why all my cooks took way longer than I had planned for), and with the bluetooth repeater it means I no longer need to constantly go out to check on how things are going.

I can even see when the smoke is starting to cool so I can anticipate when I’ll need to top up the fire with wood. If you’ve already dropped $1k+ on a barbecue setup then you might as well spend another $200, and at least ensure that you get the results that were promised in the BBQ brochure!.

Great concept however very disappointing that the phone needs to be directly next to webber for signal not to drop out when cooking with the webber lid on. Really disappointed with the lack of range when it advertises 50m range, we can’t even get 1 metre away with lid on webber.

It works well as far as assisting with cooking meat perfectly but the extra money for better Bluetooth range is a rort. Guttered it doesn’t live up to what it says it will do for $200 i expected alot more.

Pointless having a wireless probe when phone has to be directly next to webber anyway, so close I’m worried about heat damage to phone just so signal won’t drop out. My wired thermometer for under a $100 works just as well just doesn’t tell you approx cooking time.

It was a birthday present for my husband, it works but the Bluetooth range doesn’t live up to its promise. Overall disappointed with product for price.

I’ve been looking around for this type of leave in thermometer and I got lucky on my first one. I’ve made a roast beef so far with this and came out a perfect medium rare. This weekend, I’m gonna try my porchetta recipe awhile using this therm on it.

Honestly if you don’t want your roasts to over cook then do yourself a favor and buy this. It connnects to your phone too. This thing is easy to clean and came with 6 prongs. The holidays are coming up so you know you’re gonna be cooking up to show off to your relatives.

Would only make sense to get this so you don’t overcook your food.

Love that it connects to my phone and lets me track the temperature from inside the house. Love that I can track 4 different items at a time. I bought this for Thanksgiving to insure a perfectly cooked turkey.

Been using it the last couple of weeks in preparation for the big event. It works better than I had hoped. Provides the desired temperature and lets me know when it gets there. Does a great job!.

I have used this for my indoor grill from Ninja. It works perfectly by giving accurate temperature. The grill closes properly since the cable isn’t too thick. The LCD display is very visible even from far and the added Bluetooth functionality is there if someone wants to take advantage of that.

For the price, I think it is a good buy!.

My wife bought me a smoker for my birthday, (had no clue I was getting one since I never expressed an interest) and I had to figure out how to smoke a brisket. My first brisket didn’t turn out to good.

I purchased a probing thermometer where I had to open the smoker and insert it from time to time and simply couldn’t get it right. I saw this thermometer and thought I would try it. Gosh, it worked better than I imagined.

I put three of the probes into three different parts of the brisket as well as one in the smoker to watch the heat. Boy did my second brisket turn out great. It was nice to be able to see the temperature of the brisket without having to open the smoker every couple of hours.

Did I have any issues with the bluetooth, no. It was nice to be able to be inside the house and know what the temperature of the brisket was. I do highly recommend the thermometer.

I’m generally an anti-technology guy. I like old cars without computers and the same goes for my barbecuing. I was hesitant to get this product because I didn’t feel that I needed it, but I was wrong.

It is helped me manage my temperature zones, different meat cooking rates and monitor the heat range that my firebox is putting out. Also, when doing 20 hour smoked brisket I don’t have to get up every 30 minutes to check temperatures I can just monitor what’s going on with my phone.

I’m very happy with this device and can highly recommend it to anybody. I also like the steel construction all around. People have bought me things in the past that have broken and we’re not up to the task.

I can say fully that this is a product you will not be disappointed in.

This thermometer is the perfect grilling accessory. I am awful at cooking meat. I always overcook it because I’m so worried about under cooking it. This thermometer is a life saver. It is easy to use.

It turns on when you open it and has a backlight in case it’s dark. The probe folds out when in use and is very long so that you can test the correct area of the meat or reach weird angles. I like that there is a calibration button in case it seems like the temperature isn’t accurate.

It also is magnetic so I can stick it to my grill when I’m not using it or on the side of my fridge so I always know where to find it. It’s pretty handy that it has the correct meat temperatures printed on the back too.

I love the simplicity of this thermometer. There is nothing to get wrong, just open and use. It’s fantastic!.

Just got our Cuisinart Infrared & Folding Grilling Thermometer recently. Very easy to calibrate and is very accurate. The probe mode works very nicely, and we used it for chicken. Your poultry is so important to get right, and this thermometer gives the accuracy for a worry free birds.

The temperature hold function is nice to have before removing the probe for accuracy. The laser mode is great for preheating ovens or pans. Just point the laser end and push a button. No more guessing or using inaccurate dial thermometers.

The display numbers even have a backlight. Modern with high quality construction. So easy to use for everyone.

I have always used a meat thermometer when cooking meat in the oven or on the stove top. Having this has come in handy when barbequing. As for barbequing, I have never known for sure if the meat I grilled was fully cooked.

So, to be on the safe side I ended up overcooking it. Now that I have a Cuisinart Infrared & Folding Grilling Thermometer, overcooking is no longer a problem. I like that this thermometer not only checks the temperature of what I’m grilling, it also detects surface temperatures.

This thermometer is easy to use and is quick taking temperatures. I recommend this for anyone who loves to grill.

I’ve had my MeatStick thermometers since last summer. What I can tell you is that this thermometer is the last one I’ll ever use. I have gone through a lot of thermometers in the past. The wires that connect to the probes are an absolute pain in the ***! Oh and did I also mention the extremely short lifespan of most of these wired thermometers?! I have a bag full of thermometers I don’t use anymore, because they all broke, and quit working, and always at the wrong time.

I understand the MeatStick is a little expensive but compared to the money I’ve thrown away on the ones that don’t work anymore, the purchase price is a drop in the bucket. I do recommend getting the Wi-Fi Bridge for sure.

The original MeatStick’s keep track of the internal temperature as well as the ambient temperature. The new Mini MeatStick also keeps track of the internal temperature, but does not have an ambient temperature.

So if I’m doing a cook that requires two thermometers, the Original MeatStick goes in first because of the ambient temperature, then I add a New Mini just to make sure it’s the same internal temp throughout.

I’ve had some communication back and forth with The MeatStick’s service department, no big deal just some questions. They were so helpful. Making sure all of my questions were answered and that I’m very happy with my MeatStick.

If you’re looking for a thermometer, look no further than the MeatStick, you won’t be disappointed.

The concept of this probe system was exactly what I was looking for. The problem is the complexity to get it working. As a new owner I was expecting more product support since it’s anything but plug and play.

It took over an hour to get 4 probes connected and my meat on the smoker. Even after all that time I was not able to get the probes to run through the wifi setup. I could only get them to work via bluetooth.

That was the biggest disappointment after spending $500. Running a close second was the ambient temperature readings. I was really excited to be able to capture the ambient temps from all areas inside the smoker.

However the readings were no where close to the actual temperatures. running 50+ degrees low. Definitely not something that I would trust. I’m going to give it a couple more tries with future cooks and hopefully will figure out the trick to get them to connect to the wifi bridge instead of just bluetooth so I can monitor my smoker from afar but right now I’m less than impressed by this product given the amount of money invested.

I was hopeful it would blow away my FireBoard system as I was really looking forward to a truly wireless option.

I’ve been using The MeatStick for about two years now and I love it. It is my go to meat probe whether I’m at home smoking a chicken for the family or out at the beach grilling up a tri-tip for friends.

Their was a small learning curve when I first got the MeatStick but soon after I just loved the ease of use. I had a hiccup with one probe and was assisted quickly with a replacement after some troubleshooting tech support, a few pics to customer services, I was sent a replacement probe and I was back in business.

I currently own 4 probes which includes the two of the 2020 red version, a mini and the new grey version MeatStick. I must say, I use the mini the most now, but the others are perfect for my smoking needs because of the ambient temp, which alerted me when my pellet grill flamed out and when my barrel smoker needed a little more fuel.

I strongly recommend this product, due to its performance and I had a great experience with their customer service. For all of you that need to step away to run an errand, the wifi extender is awesome! I was miles away at target running an errand and I knew where my temps where at, so cool! Happy grilling all!.

I purchased the ThermoPro TP20 primarily to use when smoking meat/poultry in my masterbuilt gas smoker. I used to use a combination of an iGrill bluetooth thermometer that would send the smoker box temperature reading to my smart phone along with a standard corded digital thermometer to check the meat temperature.

Using the iGrill was okay, but I would always get bluetooth dropouts and have to reconnect and stuff. Plus I had to physically go out to my smoker to check the meat temperature. I could have purchased another iGrill probe and kept with the smartphone connection, but I was sick of disconnects – oh, and all the while my smartphone battery is draining and I can’t really roam too far away.

So I decided to look for an alternative and found the ThermoPro TP20. I used the ThermoPro for the first time to smoke a whole turkey for Thanksgiving 2018. The ThermoPro worked flawlessly. Both the probes report the temperatures from the base station to the remote station.

Also both of the temperature probes are a good size, really substantial compared to other probes I have used. I was able to program max temp thresholds and received alerts when for instance the smoker box temperature raised too high.

I could leave the remote station in the kitchen and not worry about having my smartphone tied up with this nonsense. There were no disconnects between the probes and the base or remote stations at all.

I did not test how far I could wander with the remote station though – all I know is that it performed much better than the iGrill bluetooth connection within the same vicinity. And that vicinity was really as far as I needed it to go – I can keep it in the kitchen, it works, no disconnects, I’m good.

I was highly impressed by this device and glad I didn’t need to tie up my smartphone anymore – and now I could use my smartphone’s bluetooth connection to connect to a portable speaker for some music rather than temperature readings.

I recommend this to anyone who is interested in monitoring the temperature of 2 items at one time (i. e. : maybe two meats, or maybe just one meat and your grill/smoker box temperature). I like the rubberized skin that the devices are covered with – they are bright orange so I can find the remote station quickly and will protect the devices from minor drops.

This is easily a 5 star product. It was easy to set up and use and provides nice convenience so you don’t have to hover around your grill/smoker all day.

There are some very small changes that could be made to this product to elevate it to a 4 or 5 star product. As it stands it is a solid 3 stars. Honestly the price is the major redeeming factor here.

For example: Press F/C button to toggle between Fahrenheit/Celsius. ok got that but it is also the Alert button? They obviously can label buttons on two rows with a divider bar (like Start/Stop button) so why not have F/C // Alert on the button? Also Mode/Light button is the enter or confirm button to enter your target temp?? Why even have a light button? Make it Mode / Confirm or Enter*There are no UP/DOWN arrows; if you overshoot your upper range on food temp or BBQ temp you have to cycle through 575 degrees and back to 0 and then count up again.

While it does cycle 10 degrees a second when you long press that is still a massive oversight in design. Also when you do hit your target temp you better be lightning quick on hitting Mode/Light to confirm your desired temperature or it will just reset to the last confirmed temp and you will have to do the cycle all over again.

Seriously. who came up with that programming? If I long press a button to set the temp, it should just accept the current temp after that short period of inactivity. *Backlight button is pointless, if I have to grab the main unit to hit the light button I can most certainly read what the temp is.

There shouldn’t be a light button at all, just make the backlight turn on briefly for ANY button press. The light should do something useful like flash when target temp is reached or stay on for 5-10 seconds for every 10 degrees closer the food temperature gets to target temp.

*Probes are pretty dang short, another foot would have been much appreciated*There is no indication on the unit which plug port is for Probe 1 and Probe 2 (with it facing you probe 1 is on the right, 2 on the left FYI).

*The rubber bumper is pretty loose like a cheap cell-phone case (the grey portion in the picture), however, without the bumper the unit would feel/look extremely cheap so I am glad for it. *There should be a magnet on each of the clips for the transmitter and receiver.

I know I am grasping now but the devil is in the details on products like this. Overall I will keep the product because it worked and I don’t want to spend $75-$80 for a similar product. I just hope Therm Pro reads these reviews to implement product changes**Model Number TP-08 tested**.

My Pit Boss has 2 probes but I have to run to the smoker to check the temp. With my new Nutrichef Bluetooth probes, I never have to leave the couch. They are very accurate right out of the box and you can name the meats on the app so you know the individual temps and don’t burn anything.

They work!.

Easy setup. Seems to be fairly accurate but I did not calibrate it in boiling water yet. Had both probes near each other in a roast chicken and there is a 10 degree F difference. Not sure if I should believe that.

Will have to do more controlled testing in a cup of boiling water.

Used it for the first time and it was so great being able to set it and forget it. It sends alerts when you’re out of range and when it has hit the desired temperature. A true must for any person that likes to grill.

Told my brother about it and he ordered one for himself.

I purchased this dual read instant read thermometer because my last one died. I have only used it a few times so far, but I like it. I got the dual probe thermometer because (a) I have a double oven and it will be nice to measure the temp of foods in both ovens at the same time, and (b) for larger pieces of meat, probes in two parts of the dish will allow me to have a better idea on how it is cooking.

I like that the unit has both a fold out stand AND magnets, giving me options on how to display the thermometer. The unit itself is a reasonable size, but the numbers on the face are large and clear The two probes have decently long cables, allowing the probe to remain in the food while it cooks.

Once the set temperature is reached, there’s a nice, loud beeping that would not be easy to miss. If you only want to use one probe, the area on the screen for the second probe can convert to a kitchen timer.

(Personally, I use an Echo Dot as my oven timer. )Some products have controls designed so well that you can easily pick them up and use them without reading instructions — not in this case. I tried to figure things out for a few minutes before I had to go back to the manual to figure things out.

It certainly is not enough to knock down a star — I just need to learn its controls. The termometer comes with a AAA battery in the package, so all you need to do to get it working is to insert the enclosed battery.

Manual is OK, packaging is good. Since I have only had this kitchen thermometer for a few days, I do not yet know how long it will last. But so far, I think it was a good value.

I have been looking for a food thermometer with a probe that could go in the oven and with a cord that would not brake easily. I also wanted a digital thermometer that I could set on the counter. This item fits my needs.

Good quality thermometer. The cord is steel braided so should be able to last long. We have been using it for checking the temperature when cooking meat in the oven and making yogurt. The body of the thermometer has magnets and the cord is quite long which is really convenient.

The only con, as mentioned by others, is that it is not easy to switch to °F, which is not a big issue.

The thermometer does it’s job very well. I like that you can leave it in your meat while it is in the oven, grill, smoker, etc. Will make life so much easier in monitoring the temperature. Only downside is that the set up and changing from Celsius (which is the default) to Fahrenheit, is not intuitive and you need to read the directions repeatedly in order to do it.

Otherwise, you can be like me and just cook in Celsius. Truth is, when the meat’s done, it’s done, regardless of whether the thermometer says 175 or 80, or whatever. The thermometer tells you when it is ready.

Very easy to use. Large display. Love the alarm festure and the wired probe so I dont have to keep opening my stove or grill. Also love all the preset temps to let you know if meat is rare, medium or well done.

Purchased this to replace one that had broken. Very pleased with the fact that I don’t have to check the device to see if it had reached temperature. Instead, I can use the app that tells me the temperature as it rises and alerts me when it has reached the set temperature.

We use this on our Weber BBQ for joints pf meat and it works very well. We also use it on our AGA. We tend to set the cooking temperature 5 degrees lower than recommended, as the meat will continue to cook after it is removed from the BBQ/oven.

I would recommend this over more expensive thermometers.

Have been using this for a couple months now, works great, the product itself is perfect – easy to use, easy to setup, easy to clean, great range on the bluetooth and no connectivity issues at all. The app however is average, it works, but is very limited which is a shame because it makes a perfect budget option a little disappointing at times.

It works well for on the fly monitoring, and alerts work well and are easy to setup, but there’s no real record of what’s happened with your cook as it only shows you a graph for about 15 minutes. It just means that if you’re cooking something longer like a brisket or short ribs, you have no real idea of how the temperature has climbed through your cook other than when you check it yourself.

Other than that it’s a great option, especially for the price!.

I’ve only owned this for a few weeks but my experience so far has been generally positive. The good stuff: 1. It uses AAA batteries so it’s a lot easier to get them replaced. 2. The accompanying app and pairing process is quite trouble free, unlike some other brands currently on the market.

3. The app itself is Easy to use and intuitive. Some other apps I’ve used make setting alarms and setting temperature presets a game of hide and seek. 4. You are given two temperature probes to use. The not so good.

1. The unit does not have any magnetic feet so you are limited in where you can leave the unit during a cook. 2. The plastic feels a bit cheap. While lightweight, it feels a bit fragile. 3. Winding the probe wires around the unit to store is not a neat or tangle free affair if you use 2 probes.

You’d best keep the probes separately from the unit during storage. 4. Battery consumption seems a bit high, especially if paired to a device using the app. Might be battery dependent. 5. Probes have a max of 260 deg C.

Pay careful attention to the user manual on the proper way to use the probes. In general, the probe from the silicone curve and the braided cables are sensitive parts. Have not tried to use app monitoring through walls yet, so cannot comment on that.

they appear read the temperature accurately however I installed it on my weber charcoal grill and within a week there was moisture under the glass probably from rain. it is not about a month that it has been installed and there is so much water under the glass that it is difficult to read the temperature.

This is a very good gauge if it is never in direct contact with rain.

If you have a real pit type BBQ setup, the threads will not allow you to use even 1/8″ thick steel. My pit walls are 1/4″ and I had to weld on a piece of pipe with a washer to make it work. Wasn’t a big deal for me but was frustrating and not something you would expect.

It would work great for a gas grill or charcoal kettle etc.

These are like some tough thermometers. No fogging no dirt no rust and still give me true temps with in .5f of my digital.

I’ve had this for about 6 months. It is really easy to set up and use, you can select different cuts and automatically gives you a cooking temperature. I use it on a smoker, can monitor the internal temp and how the meat is going and get notifications when coming up to your set temp for the BBQ and meat.

However the Bluetooth range is absolute rubbish. I need to sit my phone at the back door about 5m from the BBQ and the notifications are constantly going off on my phone that I’ve lost the Bluetooth connection, this drives my family nuts.

I’ve tried all sorts of things to stop this, it just has rubbish Bluetooth range. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a Wi-Fi version. Until someone invents a Bluetooth booster I’d avoid this one.

I had the same experience as Clark61 (21 days ago). The probes worked great the first few times. Then, suddenly, the temperature was 161, 247, 386, and climbing — within seconds. It seems that when flames lick the back of the probe, the tip is no longer reliable.

This was the case for two different probes at two different times. Replacements are $18, but the iGrill is useless without them. Compared to the quality of the Genesis II grill itself, which has been astonishingly good, the quality of the probes is disappointing.

Trying to decide whether to replace the probes, or to cut my losses and admit that I purchased a good idea, poorly executed.

As someone who lives in the midwest, the amount of grilling I do fluctuates widely, so even though I’ve had my Connect for a while, it hasn’t gotten a ton of use. I’ve maybe used it ten times. Generally its worked well.

Then, tonight, I was slow cooking a lamb shank. All was going well until it got to about 125 degrees and then the probe freaked out. It started reading as high as 375 and then would drop to 119 and then bounce back.

I would adjust the position and it would level out, but then a minute or two later it would freak out again. I finally pulled it and switched to an instant read thermometer to finish my grill. Now the probe won’t read at all.

I’d expect the probe to last longer than 10 uses.
