20 Best Thermometer For Hvac (2022 Updated)

Really simple point and press thermometer. Simplest and cheapest in the range, I don’t think I would use the features of the more expensive versions.

I use the infrared thermometer with my 4-H Club and demonstrations. The ability to show the difference in temperature of light bulbs, comparing incandescent, florescent, CFL, and LED lights. We also use it in discussions about heat loss in homes and how much heat electronics put off.

It’s interesting to watch them see what they can find to measure temperature. Like a pot on the stove or something coming out of the microwave. By getting these tools in the hands of children and educating them on their uses creates lifetime users.

This tool is for anyone who needs a pyrometer. Additional accessories are available for measuring temperatures in all sorts of applications. Example, perfect for everything but measuring water pipe temperatures, the IR bounced off round or curved objects.

This meter does have a pipe clamp option that will measure temperature to 1 degree; but its expensive at another $300. Great for the needs we have in the shop and in house test room.

This temp gun retails for around $125. I got a barely used one for under $45 and it works good. It’s accurate enough for what I use it for, which is cooking in cast iron pans.

This was purchased to replace one that was lost. It has a good feel to it and appears better built than the one it replace. It also has a higher temperature range which is a big plus. Only time will tell how it holds up.

The Klein IR5 12:1 Dual-Laser IR Thermometer is an excellent product for the money! I would purchase it again. The 12:1 sensing ratio is accurate per my simple tests. The 12:1 dual-laser defined sensed area is much more useful in pin-pointing which surface temp is being measured, as compared with the many lower-cost IR Thermometers on the market.

The additional functions of MAX, AVG, DIFF, MIN are very useful.

Perfect temperature probe for the kitchen. There are many cheap kitchen and workshop temperature probes available. Glad I purchased this one for our kitchen. Very accurate. both the probe and the non-contact sensor.

My daughter saw it in our kitchen and had to have one too. Bought her one. She now uses it almost every day and threw away the cheap Chinese temp probe she was using. Thanks Klein !.

As an HVAC technician and an electrician, I’ve used Klein tools for over 3 decades. I have never been disappointed once with Klein tools! I saw this and thought I’d try it out. I had been using their IR5 for years, but this little guy is now the go-to thermometer! It is about 1/3 the size, and fits in my shirt pocket.

It does everthing I need it for flawlessly. Once again, Klein has done it!.

I bought this a month ago as I was curious as to see just how well my AC was operating. I purchased this item as it was highly recommended. Very easy to use, and understand. The one blot (and the reason I am only giving 4 Stars) is the English instructions give the operating temperatures in Fahrenheit, which only my parents and Americans use.

To get the centigrade temperatures you have to go to the Italian/Spanish instructions. The product feels a little flimsy, but apart from that, great purchase for a Fiver.

Great, cheap little temperature probe to go in the vents to check air con. Small, round analogue scale (thats probably not too accurate) but good enough to check if the air con is working or not. Usually the temp will drop about 30 degrees at the vent if its working Obvoiusly made for the US, shame it has no Centigrade scale, but thats not a deal breaker! You could use it to check the temp in the middle of something you have cooked (remove from oven first!).

This works fine with no complaints. Just read the instructions to set it up the way you like it. Both the indoor and outdoor readings agree with my good quality photo thermometer. The probe is a bit larger than 1/8 inch and I used a 1/4 inch drill to allow it to easily pass through a hole in the side of a wooden window frame.

The probe’s cable is pretty small but too large to survive the way our windows close. This one hangs on the wall near the cable entry, using its rear keyhole on a small nail I drove in the wall. There’s also a little foot on the back side that can swing out to stand it up.

Someone complained about the odd battery it requires. It’s not that uncommon. The remotes for our cars use the same one. You may not find a replacement at Mom and Pop’s Discount Grocery, but they’re easy to find.

We’re enjoying being able to easily see the outdoor temperature from across the room and never have to touch it.

The size and overall appearance is nice, and the batteries required are all one size, unlike one I just replaced which used two sizes and they had to all be removed and reinserted in an exact order. The directions here were also well understood.

One and only reason for only four stars is that it consistently reads 2 to 3 degrees lower than my phone tells me. My phone has been consistent with the previous gauge so I just glance at my new one and add 3 to it.

If I relied solely upon it I wouldn’t like it so much.

“Taylor #1730 Thermometer”: The price was under $20 to replace my 20 yr. thermometer that finally crashed; used on my home generator quiet box to monitor heat buildup inside. Box ventilation never over 15 degrees above outside temps and this Taylor products allows me to monitor from a distance up to 200′ while mobile on property.

The clock is a bonus on this unit used to time generator runs between oil changes. Pushing button below screen readout allows me to swap outdoor temp to larger (1. 25″) digits on screen. There is a fold out support on back of display to sit upright on table but no mounting hole for wall hanging.

Used Taylor clear plastic preformed container to place display in & hung outside the generator box to protect display from the elements of rain, snow, etc. Unit seems highly accurate from. 1th to. 5ths of a degree when both remote and display are active and next to each other.

In fact, noticed local evening tv news icon on tv showed city temp at 86 degrees. Checked my display and temp was exactly that at home. Time will tell more about durability, life span & how often the AAA batteries last.

Hopefully, first impressions are lasting impressions. I recommend it for everyday use as a thermometer or a remote use of temps in attic, under home, basements and other buildings on property. Great!.

I’ve used these for HVAC service for the past several years. Outstanding quality, durability and function. The batteries last a very long time (1-2 years). They have a magnet to hold it to a grill, and a pocket clip on the side of it to clip your pocket properly.

They don’t break. I usually replace them because I leave them in a grill or on a unit. These are the BEST.

MUST HAVE HVAC TOOL, GREAT PRICE. TAKES READING IN UNDER 1-2MIN. temp reading is the lowest temp it read in supply air, gives you a lowest and highest reading for each on time. “unit was low on refrigerant by 1lb, changed it to 56deg supply air at 10deg subcool.

Nice thermometer. Seems accurate. The infrared feature is fun, though the tip has to be touching the meat for the temp reading to be accurate.

I use this in my autoshop for AC work. With the sensor in the cars vent and the display on my toolbox it will SOMETIMES lose signal as if it’s out of distance, maybe 12 ft. The LCD is kind of crappy where you have to hold it at a certain angle where it’s aimed at your line if vision to clearly read the info.

I be noticed since the first time I turned it on even with the display and sensor NEXT to each other they there is a variance in temperature reading by 2 degrees or so.

Kind of disappointed. Power probe makes a decent power probe, but this unit is kind of cheap. Not super accurate. at least mines not. 4°off while coupled together. But I just use it for a/c and heating in vehicles as a means to prove my repairs or not needing to repair.

I work on RV’s and these things are so nice. People complain about roof AC units not working and between this and an Amp Clamp, you can diagnose them in minutes with definitive results. Some people leave bad reviews complaining about the range but I work on all makes and models of RV’s and they work great for me.

The pressure probes will spray liquid refrigerant on your hands because of poor design. Youre forced to get low loss adapters to even use them. Also the calibration on both pipe clamps and thermometer is off because both would be in the same case in the same environment but would all have their own temp reading not even within +- 1 degree within each other.

Over all I dont think these are worth it due to bad design that gave me a very bad refrigerant burn and the calibration. And trust me its not due to my errors but flawed design.

If you have an iPhone the testo app wont go as far as you want it to, you must use the measure quick app but it doesnt look as good as the testo app or is as easy to use as the testo app. Also one of my probes unscrews as I move the probe but the other one I can move my probe without unscrewing the port.

After less than a month of use, my pressure probes dont work anymore. They read 0 for pressures and -55 for saturation temperatures, i tried contacting the company to fix the issues and still have not received a reply.

I was asked to test and then review this product which was given to me. Having used various types of digital thermometers over the last couple of years I enjoyed using this one: the larger handle with a very big display makes it easy to use with arthritic hands and senior eyes! The handle is easy to grip, the length of the probe is easy to insert into the meat and the display is large and well lit so it can be easily read.

Being able to press HOLD and have the tested temperature stay on the screen is a plus for me. I was able to get a read on several types of roasts, and chicken parts without having to come in close contact with hot food! I have also used it to test a loaf of banana bread, and a flan.

The Taylor Commercial Precision Digital Thermometer is a welcome addition to my kitchen. It is simple to use and provides a quick and accurate reading in seconds. Easy to clean and comes with a protective cover to allow for storage.

The readout of the temperature is large and legible as are the individual buttons. It has both Fahrenheit and Celsius as options. A quick on and off (and has an auto shut off feature). I have used this for a number of different meals and each time it provided the internal temperature and this ensured that I did not overcook the meal.

There is also a Hold feature that will set the last temperature reading which may be helpful (but was not something that I had a particular use for). Simple, Functional, Practical and does exactly what it says it does and equally important – what you would expect it to do.

After reading reviews I decided to take a chance on one. I had to bend an aluminum alloy rim back a bit and kinda had to have an idea what temperature I was at so first I wouldn’t crack it and second I wouldn’t melt it.

I didn’t crack or melt my wheel so this I feel was a good investment. Brought this back home and spent a bit trying to figure it out. There are calibration settings from (don’t remember exactly) 1-100 for different materials and how much they radiate heat back.

Example you pick a number they suggest for instance concrete and set it, it will be accurate for concrete. If you check metal it will not be accurate until you calibrate it for metal. There is no one number for all materials which I was hoping for.

I calibrated it and was able to check forehead temperatures within 2 degrees of an actual forehead thermometer. Now I have a tool on hand to play with. Got it to accurately read water temperatures in a pool.

How hot my smoker is. To me one of the best mechanical uses this will be very helpful in is finding out what cylinder on a multi cylinder engine is not firing right. Forget guessing and pulling plug wires or touching exhaust headers.

If you set the number close to calibrate what your checking this is accurate. If you don’t it can be way off.

What you don’t know by looking at the packaging is that there is a numerical value required to in effect calibrate what the sensor is reading. It’s called ” emissivity “. The owner manual gives you 9 types of surfaces to compare immisivity’s.

But these categories are quite broad, and in reality you have no idea what that actual number is for the surface you need to measure. And it makes a HUGE difference in the readings you get – 30-40 degree change by adjusting the emissivity.

!!! Luckily I needed to measure the outside temperature of the doors of my stainless steel refrigerator, an emmivisity value provided. But even so the thermometer was telling me it was in the high 70′ s.

This was clearly wrong by 20-30 degrees as the doors were ice cold to the touch, the freezer door even colder. I’m keeping it just for the laser pointer. If I didn’t need that I’d bring it right back as junk.

The first thing I discovered I did not like about this device was it took a 9 volt battery. I dont have any rechargable 9 volts. The next thing I discovered was that when pointed at the back of my throat, which should have read around 98.

6 degrees F, I got 80 degrees. Next I tried an Ice cube. Should read 0 degrees C. It read 7 degrees. I tried calibrating it and it still didn’t work. I tired pointeing it at boiling water and got 75 degrees C.

It should have read 100. This thing didn’t work at all. The part that really burned me is when I returned this piece of garbage, I was charged a five-dollar restocking fee. I will be shopping at the competition for a while.

This thermometer is super handy. The retractable probe makes it more convenient than a stick thermometer, the magnet lets you keep it close at hand, and the probe is long enough to wash without getting the electronics wet.

I love it for the grill.

These thermometers are so useful, I have them stationed all over the kitchen. I love the quick reading they give, and the auto-off feature. Plus the price is right! Highly recommended.

Works as advertised and is accurate. The lanyard could be longer in my opinion. Time will how long the batteries last and if this unit also lasts. Thermometers are a must and we’re using these now.

I would highly recommend this item and suggest every kitchen has one. It is so easy and efficient to use. Always clean. I usually write the horrible things I do not like about something but this is an extraordinary item that is very, very useful for all kinds of cooking.

The thermometer is quite handy for checking the temperature of fry pans and such. It can also give some idea if meats are ready, but you’ll want to double check them with a probe thermometer, since IR only reads surface temperatures.

Still it is very handy to have. In terms of the build quality, It is solid, uses standard batteries, feels good in the handand the price is neither low nor high for what it is.

Great item! I had two guns before this one and it does the best job! I’ve been using it for 2 months and absolutely love it! I have no idea how accurate it is, but it confirmed that my refrigerant recharge fixed my AC issue.
