20 Best Thermometer For Smoker (2022 Updated)

This is a well designed and thought out remote meat cooking thermometer. I will not barbecue poultry again without it! Got this to ensure the Xmas turkey was properly cooked. But I tried it out on whole chickens first cooked just right.

Wish Id had this years ago. It works via Bluetooth from the heart of my kettle style bbq, with the lid down-Almost a faraday cage! Yes, reallythe box kept near to the bbq acts as a repeater and I can see whats going on- inner meat cooking temp and ambient bbq temperature itself around my house.

Further if I use it on Wi-Fi. Brilliant. Expensive? Yes but so was the turkey. And so is my health. Absolute BBQ essential. Will be using to perfect oven roasts shortly. I am Richard Phillips. This is my own review and I dont take kindly to inducements to change my opinion.

This review given a fortnight after purchasing the MEATER.

I purchased the Meater + from Amazon and have use it 8 times. It no longer works and yes it is charged. Very disappointed in the quality of this product. From day one I could not move my phone more than 5′ away from the probe in my grill which is 160′ less than they claim it should work.

The probe also kept reading the ambient temperature at over 500 degrees when the ambient temperature was less than 400 degrees. The probe also read the internal temps much lower than the other thermometers I used to double check the Meater.

I could never trust the temps given from the Meater. I am avid griller and was excited at the possibilities of this product. I am disappointed that I wasted over $100 on this product. Save your money and spend it elsewhere.

This product does not work.

Would give the Block 5 stars based on easy setup, nice app, and the first few cooks. Worked as advertised and was very impressed. Since the first few cooks it’s been a 1 star product. Each time I turn the block on I never know how many probes if any will connect, but it’s never all 4.

I’ve cleaned the probes as instructed, made sure they are seated and charged, and tried multiple times to re-pair the probes but no luck. It’s a great concept that needs work to be reliable. I hope MEATER gets there.

In the meantime I have my trusty ThermoPro I use when not enough MEATER probes connect. I’m mostly using my ThermoPro….

I bought one for my dad for Father’s Day and it failed when he used it at thanksgiving. I took it back to the store from where I purchased it and exchanged it. He then tried it out at Easter and it failed.

now Ill have to look for the receipt in order to take it back to exchange it nor do I want to take it back to the store. I was hoping that I could exchange it directly with the company but they’re not want to replace it with out the receipt.

this item cost me $70 and is the second one I’ve bought. if you stand behind you produce then you should’ve replaced it. But now I want my money back. terrible product and they will not stand behind they’re product.

I was lucky enough to be given the Grilleye Bluetooth Thermometer to do a review so here it is; first impressions right out of the box is that it is a very well built thermometer, it is very sturdy with a very simple to use design.

Just a thought is maybe they could add little rubber grommets for the jack plug sockets so you can seal it from the weather when not all the sockets are being used. A massive bonus for me is that it can take up to 6 probes which make’s life a lot easier, saves on money and having to deal with multiple devices all at once.

The Grilleye Bluetooth Thermometer comes with 2 probes in the box and 2 probe holders for the smoker/grill. The probes them self are very well built and they are also the only probes that are FDA approved due to being 100% stainless steel with no plastic parts in the probes what so ever however on the flip side to this is that this also makes them non water proof so can only be wiped clean and not submerged in water however saying that i do not know of any probe currently on the market that you can completely submerge in water.

It would be a very good idea if they can make the jack plugs colour coded to the colour of the probe to make it easier to identify once you have passed them through the smoker or barbeque. Once you have paired the device with your phone or tab you then have access to a pre-programed menu with lots of options and with pre-set temperatures for smoking to grilling.

The programme also has options with pre-set temperatures for many different meats and it is all very easy to use. You have the option to set your own temperatures for meats and smoker/grill temperatures.

The thermometer will trigger an audible alarm on your bluetooth device when the desired temperature of your meat is reached and will also set off an audible alarm for the smoker/grill probe if the temperature runs too high or too low.

Again it has pre-set options for this or you can easily adjust it to your own choice of high and low temperatures which is very easy to do and can also be saved for later use. For my first cook using the Grilleye Bluetooth Thermometer I decided to do a pork shoulder on my smoker to really give it a good test.

I had it smoking for 14 hours on my smoker in total and the Grilleye performed very well. I was very impressed with the Grilleye Bluetooth Thermometer but have just three suggestions; 1. The bluetooth connectivity needs to be a little better as it was prone to loosing signal.

I recall this actually happened several times after talking with Grilleye it appears this is most probably caused by outside interference; maybe do a Wi-Fi version and this would definitely be something I would love to buy 2.

Once you have cancelled an alarm on the app it should stay cancelled until the alarm needs to sound again for another reason. For example the alarm sounds when your smoker/grill drops below the pre-set temperature so you cancel that alarm and by the time you get to your smoker/grill to fix the problem the alarm is sounding again for the same reason.

It would be a lot better if the alarm did not go off again until it needs to. 3. I could not find a way of turning down the audible alarm. I turned down every setting on my tab and yet the alarm from grill eye remained at the same level so a volume control would be a good feature to add.

There is one feature that I loved and that’s the graph of the probes showing a real time scale of your cooks, you can really see where temperatures have raised and dropped throughout the entire cook which can make life easier in the long term by knowing exactly when you may need to top up with charcoal or at what temperatures you need to start closing up vents etc.

You also get an alarm log which again is useful as it is another way you can log what has happened and when. The battery life is very good, which is a bonus especially compared to my other thermometers which eat batteries like the guests at my barbeques eat ribs! Would I recommend this product? Absolutely and I would definitely purchase one if I were to loose mine.

The fact it takes up to 6 probes is a massive bonus for me as before I had the Grilleye I had to carry around 2 receiver units and have two main units at my smoker which is a major pain in the back side.

If they sort out the little niggles i picked up on then this will be by far the best bluetooth thermometer on the market. At the moment it is definitely up there with the rest. of em but a little refining and it could be so much better than the rest of them.

Used this grilling thermometer while smoking a turkey breast and pork roast yesterday. This was the best investment since we bought our egg ceramic cooker. The app on the phone monitors meat internal temp and an alarm goes off when it is at you pre-set temp.

You can check it any time and the app is extremely easy to use/read. Split screen showed both temps simultaneously, so always knew what was going on. The best deal in grilling accessories ever. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!.

Wow, my husband loved his gift. Exactly what I thought it would be and more. Truly impressed by this device and the way it works. Not sure why my husband wanted it as he cooks perfect meat every time but he said he wanted to take the guessing game out while waiting and it certainly did that! Highly recommend for those BBQ.

It is a quality toy comparable to what is available in stores. It was about $2 cheaper than what I could have paid at brick and mortar stores.

Purchased the RCT3 after great success with the RCT3W. Both thermometers are the same with the exception of the fitting size. The RCT3 has the 1/4 inch NPT fitting and the RCT3W has the 1/2 inch NPT fitting.

Both units come with instructions to use the NPT fitting or to simply drill a hole of the specified size. This unit was successfully tested using boiling water and ice water and were found to be accurate for its intended purpose of fixed mounting.

The RCT3 is an excellent value and my preferred thermometer for many of my 18-22. 5 inch smokers and grills. I highly recommend this thermometer with adjustment.

I rebuilt a 40 year old 2 door smoker and wanted good quality thermometers that can be calibrated if need be. I put one in each door and they work great and the temp is exact on both doors. A year and a half later, both thermometers are working perfectly and I’ve never had to re-calibrate either one.

Great quality product and a great price!.

I decided to purchase this thermometer over other similar types for the recalibration/adjustment option. I installed it in the lid of my new Traeger Texas Elite 34. It required me to drill a slightly larger than 1/2″ hole in the lid and is secured in place with an included flat washer and nut.

Install was easy with proper tools, drill bits and a little mechanical ability. So far, I have been impressed with it’s accuracy and quick response. The 3″ sight window is a great size for easy visualization of proper temperatures while turning out bbq crowd favorites like ribs, brisket and pork shoulder etc.

If longevity is as good as my initial impression of functionality, then I would highly recommend this 3″ River Country adjustable thermometer. For the money, you can hardly go wrong.

I bought this to have two functioning measures of temp in my reverse highland. The hope was to keep a better measurement of the temps and keep the fire steady. So far it’s working great. About a 25-35 degree temp difference between the two probes when running.

Great tester for sorting out good cells from a heap of working but unknown ones. As the current capabilities are limited it’s not suitable for big industrial cells but you know that from the specification.

I find it excellent for checking reclaimed 18650 lithium, which is what I bought it for and it fulfills expectation. At the price it’s better value than making your own.

Gage came quickly. It fit perfectly and was easy to install. I matches the other on on my smoker perfectly. Glad to have it – not I can keep track of the temperature at both ends of the smokebox.

Nice little accessory for my 22″ Weber kettle, keeps accurate and even temp. Suggest you first calibrate it in boiling water.

I have a pellet grill that has two temperature probes. I ordered this meat thermometer so that I would have a separate temperature system that I could use in conjunction with the grill’s probes to ensure that I was getting proper temperature readings when I was grilling.

I really like this thermometer. I could tell when taking it out of the packaging that it is well-built. It is not a lightweight thermometer like others that I have owned. The probes are high quality and have long leads.

The thermometer is loaded with features, and it has a claimed transmitting range of 500 feet, which is quite a long distance for a digital thermometer. The kit comes with a transmitter, a receiver, two probes, a grill clip, four batteries, and a manual.

The probes come with a probe winder that keeps them organized when not being used. The grill clip is used to hold one of the probes in position off the grill to track the grill temperature, rather than the meat’s temperature.

The manual is detailed and provides all of the information needed to use the device, except for adequate information on how to insert the batteries into the receiver. The manual shows the location of the battery compartment for the transmitter, but not for the receiver.

Unfortunately, it is not clear just by looking at the back of the receiver where the battery compartment is and how to open it. I initially did not want to start prying on anything for fear of breaking something, but I eventually was able to pry open a latch that revealed the battery compartment.

This latch opens from the very top of the back of the receiver. Before its first use, I followed ThermoPro’s online procedure for checking the calibration of the thermometer. This is not a required, or even suggested, procedure; I just wanted to check.

The results showed that both probe’s calibration was spot on. I also tested the probes in boiling water. Taking into consideration the altitude adjusted boiling temperature at my home, they were again spot on.

If you repeat the boiling test, keep in mind that unless you are at sea level, the actual boiling temperature decreases with an increase in altitude. With these test results I have great confidence in this thermometer’s accuracy.

The two probes can be independently programmed. They can both be set to measure the same type of meat and doneness, or different meats, or different doneness, or one probe can measure meat and the other the grill’s internal temperature.

The thermometer’s programming has preset temperatures for various meats and doneness that can be set or, if desired, overridden. The device will alert you when the temperature reaches the set point. You can set a minimum and/or maximum temperature that, if exceeded, will also issue an alert.

This is a good feature for monitoring grill temperature during long cooks. A count up/down timer feature is also included.

I’ve had several wireless cooking thermometers over the years, and I’ve even had a ThermoPro wireless cooking thermometer before (TP07), and to date, this is the best wireless thermometer I’ve owned.

In my opinion ThermoPro got this one right. It’s a pleasure to use. I like it a lot. Using this wireless thermometer is as simple as can be. Simply insert probe 1 into your meat, turn the transmitter and receiver on, select what you’re cooking, set the doneness level of the meat, and that’s it, you’re pretty much good to go.

And, of course, you can setup probe 2 to monitor the temperature of a second item or piece of meat if you wish. I became interested in this wireless thermometer primarily because of the shortcomings of my previous thermometers.

And the main shortcoming for me has been the wireless range. The manufacture’s stated ranges are, of course, their achieved ranges under ideal conditions, not typical conditions. Consequently, none of the thermometers until this one would send a reliable signal to every room in my house.

My home office is the farthest room from my barbecue and smoker, and this is the first wireless thermometer that actually keeps its wireless connection while in my office. Additionally, I think this type of wireless thermometer is far better than the Bluetooth/smartphone thermometers.

And that’s because it gives you an always-on display unit/receiver. You can get the current temperature of your meat with a mere passing glance at the receiver. That’s simply not the case with Bluetooth/smartphone thermometers, and that’s a really big negative in my book.

So, if you’re looking for a wireless cooking thermometer, this is the first one that I can wholeheartedly recommend. It feels beefy and well built, it’s super easy to use, and the useable range in real world conditions is excellent.

I’ve used Maverick wireless thermometers, Weber’s iGrill setups, and many generics. I’ll say that the biggest competition for this is the generics (sometimes price does win out). If you’re not going for the cheapest solution, get this.

This setup just works. It works every time. It works without any hassles. It doesn’t require pairing, Bluetooth, or apps. This won’t become defunct when that app becomes unsupported or ask for all sorts of permissions to your data.

It’s just a thermometer, a display, and a wireless display. The thermometer probes yield consistent results (between each other and my previous ThermoPro probes. This is unlike my iGrill where half my probes vary by 8-10 degrees F.

The range is superb (I never got anywhere near the range limit, but I did throw several walls in between with no issues. Compared the other units (including cheaper generics), I think the reliable temperatures, easy to use controls, and availability of ThermoPro replacement bits makes this a winner.

As an added bonus, I like the fact that the probes can be used for whatever. I have twice as many Web iGrill probes as I need due to the separate pit and food probes. None of that nonsense here.

I recently bought an Akorn Kamado Kooker, and was advised I could only master it with a reliable remote thermometer. My nephew Chad, also a competition BBQ guy, said the TP-20 was the bomb, so I got one as soon after assembling the Akorn as possible.

Now I’ll be the first one to say that labeling the Akorn Kamado as the gold standard is conditional on one’s ability to achieve temperature equilibrium. I’ve known others who bought and sold their Akorn Kamado in short order when they were not able to achieve said equilibrium.

I had a good advisor and I’m Irish, so I conquered it the second time around. But this review ain’t about Akorns, it’s about the TP-20, but the background is cogent. Successful operation of the Akorn might be possible without the TP-20, but I’d never try it.

Now I’ve got enough experience smoking boston butts that I didn’t really need a remote probe in the meat, but having one measuring internal Akorn temp was the difference between success and failure. On the TP-20, you can click Mode until ‘Oven’ is an option.

I picked that and hung the remote probe through the upper damper first time around and got skewed results, no doubt because the probe tip was touching the inside of the Kooker. I-Tronics includes a right angled stainless steel clip that I didn’t and couldn’t determine its function until I reread the User Manual and found an obscure reference to ‘clipping the probe to the cooking grate.

‘ The clip has holes in both sides that perfectly accommodates the probe above the grate. Second time around I was able to control the internal cooking temperature at +/- 15 degrees of 250 degrees for nine hours, opening the lid only once at the six hour mark to wrap the butts in foil.

I probably made a half dozen upper damper adjustments over the nine hours to thwart temp rises or drops, but the accuracy of the TP-20 allowed me to do that on a timely basis-obviating panic attacks when you’re caught sliding sideways.

I gave the TP-20 5 stars based on ease of use, decipherable operating instructions and pinpoint accuracy. The freaking butts became the tender smoked pulled pork I was accustomed to. The WiFi coverage of 400 feet allowed me free range around the house with the receiver unit.

At $54 plus shipping it’s a bargain IF you want to upgrade your slow smoker to an Akorn Kamado. No slaps at Char-Griller, the Akorn manufacturer, but if you’re serious about your BBQ, you ain’t relying on the thermometer integral to the Kooker.

I can guarantee you the TP-20 delivers, and they give a lifetime replacement warranty on the sensor tips, the most vulnerable aspect of the entire system!.

We grill a lot of fish in the summer, and lamb and beef during the winter. When grilling an expensive cut of meat, a Prime tenderloin for example, preserving the meat quality is imperative. A remote reading thermometer makes possible temperature monitoring while continuing to entertain guests.

Here in Alaska, it’s also often more comfortable to be inside rather than outside. All of these devices measure the temperature at the tip of metal probes, and transmit that temperature information to a receiver via a radio-frequency link.

This allows the user to remotely monitor the temperature at the probe tip. I researched these radio-frequency-based remote reading thermometers to replace a long-time device and chose the ThermoPro TP-20.

After thoroughly reading directions, I inserted the enclosed batteries (very convenient), inserted the two temperature probes, and the sender and receiver established a radio-frequency link, with no need for my assistance.

The two probes showed the same temperature probes provided the same temperature value, a quick check that the device was calibrated. I’ve not owned a dual probe remote thermometer before, but I used them both as I monitored the two ends of a 6-pound tenderloin.

My family has rare-meat lovers and well-done lovers, and being able to monitor the thin and thick ends of the tenderloin allowed me to adjust the various heat sources on a gas grill. I usually use a charcoal grill and don’t have the ability to control the heating to this degree, but it’s still a useful piece of information.

Of course I log the data, so the temperature differential will also be interesting to log. When planning a meal, it’s useful to know that a 6-pound tenderloin, cooked on gas, with the meat at this temperature and outside temperature at that value, will require 1:30 to cook.

The manufacturer claims that the sender and receiver will communicate over a 300-ft maximum distance, a distance that I did not measure, but it certainly worked well through a 120-foot distance and through heavy plaster walls.

I am very impressed with that performance. The receiver, the controller of the system, has pre-sets for FDA-approved cooking temperatures for a wide range of likely-to-be-grilled foods. Although I didn’t use the feature, the device also allows one to set other temperatures, instead.

One can change from Fahrenheit to Celsius degrees, as well as access a timer and other features. Read the directions!Directions are easy to follow. The device was well-packaged, and included everything as advertised.

It’s easy to use and provides accurate temperature information. My first use was for an almost-two-hour grilling of a tenderloin cooked over gas. I enthusiastically recommend this device.

I purchased this remote thermo because it lacked the significant percentage of negative reviews of other popular ones. Very pleased with this product. Works as advertised. Pairs without problems (many report problems with others).

Great tool which allows you to accurately hit finishing temps without opening the BBQ and losing heat. Lots of pros already posted in reviews, so below are some of my cons:- Biggest: Temp settings increment up only.

Inconvenient, esp if you overshoot your target temp and have to wrap all the way around again. – Alarm icons are small and its easy not to notice you dont have the alarm on- Oven high temp alarm cannot be set to low temps.

For example, when cold smoking cheese, I want to know if temp exceeds 150F. no can do. – Curved food probe. Not sure why they do this, but can make it inconvenient to position inside BBQ and to stow.

– Probe connections not marked to indicate which port is for food probe and which for BBQ probe. Minor, but inconvenient first few times as you have to look at product image to see which port to use.

– On/Off button on remote is easily activated with just a light quick touch. can turn on easily in storage or off accidentally. – Multi function buttons are not intuitive as some functions not labelled on them.

It would be a great enhancement to be able to save alarm profiles and recall them later. For example, save a profile for a food type (brisket, ribs, fish, cheese. ) and then recall it later rather than having to set it all up manually again (with that inconvenient increment only navigation).

Update March 8, 2016:Still very pleased with this product after many uses. Updated info re temp ranges:At least on the unit I have, documemted temp range settings vary from actual. Table below shows documented vs actual respectively.

Food HI: 32 – 572F, 32 – 573FBBQ HI: 140 – 572F, 227 – 573FBBQ LO: 32 – 554F, 225 – 349FMy personal preference would not be to have arbitrary ranges, but allow the full range of temps from at least 0 – 575F.

This would make the device more flexible and allow me to set whatever values are appropriate for what Im trying to do. For example, the BBQ temp ranges on my device make it useless for cold smokingA question was asked regarding using for beer brewing (on model 07, but my response below pertains to the 08).

There are applications where this device could be used, especially if manufacturer would eliminate these arbitrary range limits. As is, only the “Food HI” range is relevant to brewing. For example, mash temps range from 145F to 165F so it could be used to monitor mash temps.

Fermentation temps range from about 32F to 65F so could be used for monitoring ferm temps too. Question for vendor, can I update the firmware on my device so it matches documented temp ranges? Better yet, can you supply a version that eliminates these arbitrary limits?December 2016 Update:One full year and still very pleased with this product.

Did have one temp probe go inaccurate on me. Bought a couple of replacement probes and so far no more failures. So, good to do occassional sanity checks on displayed temps to catch a malfunctioning probe.

We have had the thermopro TP-19 for just over 2 years, now. We’ve used it, washed it, poked meats with it and it’s been great – we really love it. However, a couple months ago, the battery cover broke where the screw holds it down.

Basically, the part under the screw just shattered. I managed to ‘reform’ it back together with some acrylic solvent. I figured maybe somebody got too aggressive with the battery compartment cover tightening, but I wasn’t sure.

Anyway, everything was great until almost exactly the 2 year mark, where the plastic collar that holds the metal probe onto the hinge also broke (somebody else posted a photo of the exact same break – I forgot to take any photos, sorry!) I took it apart and again with the acrylic solvent reformed it back together.

I also spread some petroleum jelly on the whole hinge assembly to make it easier to move. It felt very tight when it broke – perhaps it had just gotten gunked up over time? I’m not sure. Anyway, it moves easier than ever before and we’re happy to have it back! We tried some other, more classic style meat thermometers (while this was sitting on my desk waiting to be fixed) and they were very, very slow and not as easy to read and hold.

As long as I can keep mending it, we’ll keep using it! It’s still our favorite. If I hadn’t been able to fix it, I probably would have bought another TP-19 anyway since I suppose they’re priced for not the longest life, anyway.

I have a lot of digital thermometers and bought this one because of the speed (2-3 seconds) of getting a reading. The temperature reading is very fast, however fast to a point where you could think it fidgety.

It displays to a tenth (. 1) of a degree, and that tenth of a degree is constantly fluctuating, which means you might as well ignore it. The thermometer can’t seem to make up its mind what the temperature is.

My other digital thermometers, while not nearly so fast, are easier to deal with because they’re not so sensitive and the numbers aren’t constantly changing. I like the LED display because it’s easy to read in low light.

I also like that it’s motion sensitive, so it turns off after 90 seconds while the probe is extended, but turns back on instantly when you pick it up. It turns off entirely when the probe is folded back.

The quality of build seems very high and detailed. You can recalibrate it manually if you like, or return it to the factory setting afterwards with the push of a button. I compared mine to an analog thermometer and three other (slower) digital thermometers and found the factory setting to be accurate.

The concealed magnet is strong, so the thermometer can hold securely to the side of the fridge. For the price, this thermometer is a very good value.

I bought this to replace another (2 yr old) model whose probe just fell off. It was advertised as “instant read” but took at least 5 seconds to show temps (probably more like 10 but as fast as my previous one which had no light).

This ThermoPro TP19 reads within 2 seconds or less. The lighted read-out is bright and large. In fact, the whole thermometer is larger than I thought it would be as I really didn’t pay attention to dimensions.

It seems sturdy. I don’t care for the battery cover as it was difficult to replace while not leaving a smooth back. I don’t use the magnet, but it does seem to work all right. At first, I thought it needed calibration as my boiling water was registering above 212 F, but when I set up the ice bath, it registered perfectly.

I use an instant read for water temps and low carb bread baking. On occasion, it will help as a grill thermometer. Overall, I really like this and would recommend it to anyone looking for a true instant read thermometer in this price range.

I like the 3 yr warranty, also but hope I never need it.

This thing from day one has been junk. I have never had it come within 10° of my two other stick thermometers. The Bradley is ALWAYS 10°-12° lower than the actual temperature when tested against 2 other thermometers.

Please save yourself the money and buy something else. It’s a dollar store thermometer but you’re paying for the Bradley name. We just use it for a regular fridge magnet now with a sticker over the Bradley name, I aint advertising this heap.

I bought one in April, didnt work half of the time. I called Bradley and explained, they sent me one within 5 days. Second one works great. It gives suggested cook temp. Alarm. Timer. I use it in my pitboss pellet grill.

I am pleased with this purchase.

Great features and very accurate. I love the fact that the probe can sty in the smoker while cooking. There are many different settings the temperature of the food can be read very quickly.

Very pleased to have purchased this thermometer. It allows me to monitor the temperature inside the bread I am baking. 1. I was able to use it for the first time without reading the instruction. It is a two piece item.

One with wired probe to push inside the dough. The other with LED screen that display the temperature and other information. 2. It is accurate. It displayed 211 (should be 212 exactly) if putting the probe in to boiling water.

3. The transmission distance is adequate. I can monitor the food temperature in any room on the same floor with the kitchen. 4. The old style cellphone like piece is easy to read and understand. You just need to press the “Mode” button.

It has timer mode with remind you at set time period; it has cooking monitor mode that set off alarm when probe temperature reaches the temperature you set. There is one feature I wish it had. I hope the designer will add a beep to the gadget when it is being turned on or off.

It is difficult to know if the phone charger-like piece is turned on or off. The only way to know for sure is to watch if there is a intermittent blink every 10 seconds.

It is EXTREMELY competitively priced on amazon for what you get, though. My customer support interactions with this manufacturer have been really good on multiple models, and I appreciate that. I was just offered an unsolicited lifetime warranty on the probe INCLUDING wear and tear.

It was unconditional and did not require me to write this review. It did, however, motivate me to go ahead and write a solid review since I have used one for at least 3 years now and have given another as a gift.

You can get higher end sets from another manufacturer, but It is going to cost you at least 3 times as much for a one probe system. This one is great for when I want to quick cook and does not want to pull out my bigger dual probe system.

A couple of tips and minor workarounds:-Sometimes, when you boot up the remote first it will not sync with the probe. Turn the remote off, start the flashing of the base using the side button, and turn the remote back on.

within 30 seconds this syncs my probe every time. -If you are concerned about probe accuracy, do the ice bath and boil tests. Quick directions: boil water to rapid roll and place tip of probe fully under liquid.

It should approach 212F or 100C. I can usually get it about 1-2 degrees of that and this is the extreme high end; for low side, place crushed ice in a glass cup/container and just a little cold water (as little as you can manage and still allow the probe to slip within the ice).

let sit for a few minutes for water. This bath does not normally get to OC or 32F no matter how good your thermometer is but it should come close. I can get within 2 degrees with this, and that isprobably pretty close to real temp.

-Avoid kinking the probe wire, as it can shorten the life of the probe. You can pinch the wires in a lid and usually it will not damage the probe but It is a risk I does not take. Wires can be routed through vents if away from the heat source or you can drill a small hole in the wall (I do this in my grill just below where the grate sits but not in my cabinet smoker.

I use the exit vent for the cabinet smoker. These probe tips are universally sound for pretty much any temperature monitoring system you use. Bottom line: I am pretty centrist on ratings (does not like to give too low unless I absolutely hate it and does not give too high unless I am very impressed), but this one for the price is excellent.

This is built very well. I like LOUD alarms and timers. I have several other probe/timers and this is by far, my favorite. Some aren’t loud enough, some aren’t accurate, some are really hard to operate, some are not wireless or portable and some are just junk.

My only criticism is that I would have liked it to be a group of 2-5 beeps, instead of a pleasantly loud, steady, single beep. Other than that, it’s everything I’ve wanted in a wireless thermo-probe/timer.

My smoker gauge was not working so I got this bad boy. I smoked some ribs and also put an oven temp gauge in to compare the two. This one was sooo much more accurate and fast. I open the smoker and looked at the gauge I could see it drop 30 degrees in a few seconds.

So it’s accurate and fast. The oven gauge just went to 200 degrees and just hovered around. There was a noticeable difference of how nice this gauge is. This gauge will not let you down.

This is a nice little gauge and works well. It requires a hole in the smoker but has a wingnut thus threads in the smoker are not required.

I have a weber kettle bbq and I was in need of a thermometer, This one can be installed through one of the vent holes or by drilling a hole in the lid. Now I can be more precise on keeping the temperature just right for smoking ribs and such.

enjoy using my bradley smoker so got the matching thermometer. Brought mine sept 2019 have used it 4 times unreliable and now faulty 2020, didnt last 18months save your money buy something that will last.

I have had one of these for several years and if you on a Bradley, they are a must. They are accurate and allow you to hot smoke your food to the degree of cooking you desire. They attach to the unit with a built in magnet.

I have an older one as well on my older Bradley which is just as accurate on the newer one has some improvements like the magnet and articulating body preventing it from falling off of your unit.

Sometimes all it takes is the right tool at the right time to make your day. This is as true in the kitchen as it is in the garage. The ThermoPro Digital Meat Thermometer is one of those tools I’ll never do without again.

The quality of the coilovers is good. None of the materials seemed cheap. The welds look decent. My only complaint isnt even with the coilovers. half of my bolts snapped installing the coilovers and the control arms I got.

other than that they ride kinda rough but it definitely makes the car a lot more planted. A ton less body roll. Great product.

I am extremely happy with this food thermometer. It reads almost instantly and is easy to see, The on button is in the exact right place for your thumb to press it without looking for it every time you need to use it.

The probe is not too long nor too short and has a snug fitting cover for when not in use. Also has a ring to hang it on a hook if you like. That’s what I did, next to the stove and my spice rack. I definitely recommend this product.

I bought this on 2/17/20, but did not have the opportunity to use it till today, 5/21/20. I set up my charcoal grill fro smoking, with the ThermoPro TP08 set up to monitor grate temperature with one probe and internal meat temperature with the other.

Very soon I realized that there was something amiss. The temperatures shown by both probes were waaay off. The meat probe reads about 20 degrees F high, and the grate probe about 40 degrees high. I verified this with 2 other digital thermometers as well as an old school dial thermometer.

I swapped the 2 probes on the base unit, and the high temperature readings follow the probes, so clearly the probes yield different readings, both high. I can only surmise that, 1 – the probes are faulty with different sensitivities and 2 – the electronics is faulty.

I also noticed that there is a few seconds delay between the base unit readings and teh remote unit readings. Not sure why my next step is, I suppose I have to try find out who manufactures these things and try get them to take care of the issue at this point.

I LOVE this thermometer!! The duel probes make it easy to keep up with the temperature in a single large piece of meat or you can use it in two different types of meat and monitor each one separately.

Set it to your preferred internal temperature and it will let you know when it is ready. This is the second one I have purchased only because I misplaced my first one after a cook. Very good value for the money!!.

This device worked perfectly. I was able to keep an eye on the temp of the smoker and know when to add chunks of wood and know the temperature of the brisket. The brisket turned out perfectly and it would NOT have otherwise.

Very nice thermometer. There is little learning curve once done it become easier to managed. The only problem I went through was the owner manual. You have to be young with perfect vision to read the instructions.

I’ve used a magnifying glass still not comfortable manual to read. With my Smartphone I took individual page picture, crap it and save. Connect phone to laptop and bring it up to print. It’s not the cleanest copy, a lot of shadows but easier to read larger font.

Once you understand that each button in front has dual functions, everything else is easier to understand. If you keep using it, the procedures will stay in your memory. The dual probes were handy specially when cooking a large bird or several pieces of beef steak.

It has a countdown counter and a timer. The countdown timer can work with the range timer. The timer works without using the thermometer probes. The screen will show probe 1 and 2 or individually with timer.

There’s a useful blue back light. It can stand, it can be hang; hang through magnet. The screen read out size is over 2 1/2″ x over 1 1/2″ smaller than a calling card. The whole unit size is 3鈥?x 3 1/2 give or takes 1/8″.

I was doubtful at first how small the read out but when it was right on my hand it’s as large as most digital read outs. If you don’t have problem reading your cell phone clock, this is much larger and bolder.

When it’s dark the blue back lighting makes the read-out jumped out, very clear like in the picture. At the back there are two more toggle switches, the first is a three way: On/Off – Thermometer – Timer.

Whatever selection you have here is the function that you can control on the screen read out. When the temperature control is selected at the back, the button on the front acts like a lazy Suzanne loop where you keep pushing until you find the meat type selection with default temperature which once reached the alarm will sound off.

The next is the C – F temperature. The probe is about 3 feet long good enough but not long enough if you stick this device on the range panel using the magnet. It’s the best position but probe cannot reach well enough inside the oven.

There is some problem where to place it if for any reason you are also using the glass cook top, there’s no metal to stick the magnet for better viewing. I tried the oven door which is also made of glass and not very ideal location.

The most logical is to use the devices stand but you can’t place it far from the cook top. When you keep on reading the manual, it tells you the do and don’t. I tested this device with my body heat and it works, I also tested how far the probe can and cannot be useful.

I tested the stand and magnet position with the probe inside the oven. What I cannot vouch is reliability test. I have not test/used in actual cooking yet, its winter. These are my personal opinion.

I have been using this product for about 6 months now. I mainly use the grill attachment to measure ambient temperature of my BBQ pit. This product has produced several excellent racks of ribs. I can monitor the temperature to make sure I’m where I want AND falling temps tell me it’s time to add more coals (it obviously takes practice to get right, but that’s really dependent on your BBQ pit/smoker).

I used the second probe on my first ever brisket (to monitor internal temps) and the brisket came out very good. I can’t definitively comment on the accuracy, but a few different ways seem to suggest it is.

I have an infrared thermometer and the temps seem to generally agree (within 5-10 degrees–but I think that’s more error on the part of the infrared thermometer/user). I also used it once in my oven to see if the temps were right.

Preheated oven to 350, thermopro read about 400. I thought that was odd until I opened the oven to put my food inside. The temp almost immediately went down to 350 and stayed there. So clearly the oven was “over” preheating accounting for the almost immediate temperature drop due to opening it.

Not exactly conclusive, but two different instruments were both measuring 350 (the oven and thermopro). Cleaning: I use the same probe everytime I smoke on my pit. It has a very “nice” brown smoke film on it.

This does not come off. I wipe with a paper towel after every use and a little bit comes off, but it’s not “clean”. After 6 months and ~20 cooks (so ~100 hours of being subjected to smoke), it appears to continue to work fine.

So I don’t see that this affects performance at all.

I purchased the ThermoPro TP-17 at the height of the 1st wave of the pandemic because our family was cooking every meal at home and to ensure meat was cooked for safe consumption, we needed an accurate and reliable meat thermometer, one with at least 2 probes to read the temperature of 2 different pieces of meat.

The meat thermometer worked well for the first 2 months in the oven. But when the weather got warmer, we started using the outdoor grill. Somehow the probes that were monitoring the meats in the grill started displaying HHH and beeped and then the temperature readings would change every second from a high temperature reading to a low temperature reading.

I suspect that the infrared heat on the grill was too high for the probes. I contacted customer service regarding the issue and after explaining to the representative that the proposed solution didn’t work, i.

e. make sure the probes are inserted all the way into the socket, the representative said they are sending replacements probes to me. Within 2 days, I received an entirely new TP-17. I opened the new unit and tested the 2 probes that came with the new unit.

Both units work with the new probes. The old probes probably shorted in the grill due to heat damage. ThermoPro has Great Customer Support! Because of their prompt and excellent support for their products, I purchased a temperature and humidity reader.

It is also very accurate and an all-around high-quality product. Haven’t had issues with it.

Great little device if you want a BBQ thermometer, however the chrome base is designed to go onto a curved (domed) lid and doesn’t fit flush on a flat lid BBQ. other than that it’s versatile and will cover all BBQ needs for Temperature.

Built for a round surface….will not fit. Offered a Discount but that will not make it fit! Useless to me

I’ve bought a few cooking thermometers over the years, and can say that this is hands down the best one I’ve ever used. It’s quick, convenient and super-easy to read. Most importantly it’s accurate!This is actually my second purchase of this thermometer.

I had to buy another as the last one I bought broke–which was 100% entirely my fault: I was cleaning it and pulled WAY too hard on the metal prong and ripped it right out. Then stood there for a minute staring at it like an idiot wondering why I did that and what on earth did I think would happen–I mean, it’s a $12 thermometer after all.

Still, it took a pretty strong effort to rip the thing out, so it’s a (fairly) durable thermometer, too!Anyway, the cool feature are: push-button prong release. Great for quick use, or pretending you’re a space-age cowboy on really boring days.

The temperature read out panel lights up (not bright enough to read by if the power goes out–trust me on this) and makes a very easy to read display for the temperature. The magnets are very cool–my kids like to play with stuff, and, as mentioned previously this is a very cool ray gun substitute, but they won’t mess with things on the fridge for some reason (too busy trying to get at all the food inside is my initial guess).

The magnets are a truly great idea–anytime I can avoid putting something new in the junk drawer that’s a bonus, since I’m not even sure that drawer can open anymore. If you’re reading through all the reviews on this thing then: 1) more power to you, as there are a LOT of reviews 2) but get a different hobby–I mean, it’s $12 and 3) stop here, because you will be happy with this one.

The problem with this purchase was not the product. It was having other people in my house. We liked the thermometer and used it frequently. I liked the ease of changing out AAA batteries, which I usually have on hand, and not needing a special battery that I would consistently forget to order.

I appreciated the accuracy and how easy it was to use and read. Forget those stupid little dials that are too tiny to read without getting your face close enough to be burned. But others in my home could not stop themselves from submerging the thermometer in water.

And letting it soak. So the display spazzed out. It worked after drying out the first few times but then it had enough and quit. Can鈥檛 say I blame it.

I decided to pay a few more bucks in order to get a better product. The reviews I have perused insist that this item is more accurate than others, and will last for longer. I am writing this after only a few days and a few uses, so my review is extremely limited.

That being said, the design itself is made up of a relatively cheap plastic (I am referring to the body). The buttons are work completely fine, and the thermometer does exactly what it is made to do.

The “spring” mechanism that is supposed to flip up the medal piece is extremely flimsy as well – it has already become “griddy” and doesn’t pop all the way up. But since this thermometer is made to measure temperatures, and that’s what it does perfectly well (so far so good!), I am giving this 4 stars, and only 1 star off of the actual design (if the product’s design was more essential to its use then I would consider removing more stars, but this is not the case).

This thing is great. Nice display, mounting magnets are strong, and the additional display is very useful. I got the orange one, and it’s a really nice color. I still do a double check with a thermapen, or thermo pop before pulling meat off the heat.

The probes are a different story. The only complaint is the spaghetti it turns in to when using all 4. They crimp easy, and aren’t waterproof. At this price I feel that the silicone organizers for the probes should be included.

First off there was some operator error on my part. On my first cook I was not getting the bellows to work. I called the hot line and a very patient person answered my call for help. He patiently lead me through the trouble shoot and he help me find that I had the fan plugged in to the wrong plug on the smoke X4.

After that the cook went off without a hitch and has worked fantastic ever since.
