20 Best Thermometer For Toddlers (2022 Updated)

This was ready to go right out of the package. Inserted the included batteries and didn’t need to read any directions to use. There are pictures on the front to tell you where to position the scan on your forehead.

There is a large gold dot that displays on your forehead to show where it will read. The only downside I found is that if you are taking your own temperature and looking in the mirror, the thermometer itself blocks your view in the mirror of the dot.

Not that big a deal. If taking a child’s temp, I don’t think you would have any issue seeing the dot. The thermometer also displays colors to indicate normal temp (green), elevated (yellow) and fever (red).

I think it may also beep if the temp is anything other than in the green range. There is also a beep if you are too far away from the forehead. As far as accuracy, I purchased a no name but highly rated digital forehead thermometer during COVID to have something in the house.

I never had anything to compare it to until now, although I always thought that other thermometer showed temps that were a bit too low. Using both, I compared their results and this Braun comes out about.

5 degrees higher when taking temp in the same spot. So, I would assume that the Braun is accurate. Also has a power button. So far no complaints or issues, but this is a home not a doctor’s office, medical facility, school, etc.

so it’s not like it currently or in the future will get used frequently.

The Braun No Touch + Forehead thermometer is a must have for any house! The instructions were easy to read, follow, and all you had to do was put the batteries in (which are included with the thermometer) to get started.

I like that it’s a 2 in 1 and you are able to touch your forehead or you are able to point it and be able to get the temperature! It has been a life saver to be able to just point and click so I don’t wake my children up in the middle of the night while they are sick.

It is also nice that it has color coding, so it will be green for normal temp, yellow for mild temp, and red for a fever. I also like that since your able to point and click it will tell you to move forward so that you are able to get an accurate reading! The thermometer also gives very fast readings which I find really nice and helpful! I just love that it is so easy to use that even my daughter who is seven is able to check her temperature and know what it is with the help of the color coding and how bold and displayed the numbers are.

The thermometer is even able to be used at night because it lights up so you are able to see the temperature reading which I love! All in all I have no complaints and would definitely recommend!.

My husband and I like the simple look of the thermometer. However, the screen is a little difficult to understand. Sometimes it takes two clicks to turn the thermometer on. I wouldn’t use it to store past readings.

I do have to say, the green light is the best feature because it automatically mentions if the temperature is good or not.

If you can get round the initially complicated display and instructions it seems easy to use and for those you do not want to put a thermometer in their mouth, the forehead version is a viable alternative to the much more expensive ear ones.

You can test air/room temperature too, on a different setting which is quite useful. Seems accurate and certainly better than the infrared pointing ones which are notoriously inaccurate!.

I am very satisfied with the purchase. The thermometer is easy to use and instantaneous on the temperature read out. Dual modes allow you to switch from body temperature to object temperature such as surfaces, Hvac vent read outs.

Display is very easy to see and read.

It meets my expectations. My temp never read 98.6. My average temp using this thermometer is 96.7. It’s good enough for me to know when my temp rises above that average temp.

I got this thermometer to replace the traditional in mouth one. When my kiddos are sick, they absolutely refuse to put it in their mouth. This one is so much faster and much more reliable than the old one.

It is super accurate. Much more accurate than the in mouth one. There was up to a 0. 2 variance in repeat measurements, but that’s not a huge deal deal breaker for me. What was even better was that when you turn on the thermometer, the last measurement is stored in the device.

My favorite feature is that the covers store right in the devices handle. I actually modified this to screw into my bathroom wall so it is out of kids reach but everything is right together. No more hunting it down to use it! My only complaint is that I WISH the covers were optional.

I have three kiddos and when one gets sick, they all typically get sick. If you have multiple kids, you will go through the covers VERY quickly and the replacements are ~$10. I went through a whole box in 2 days.

I know for sterility, they should be replaced every time but I found myself using rubbing alcohol to clean in between uses. Overall, it is a great improvement from traditional thermometer devices but the upkeep is slightly annoying.

So a couple of weeks ago I came down with COVID. Yep it finally caught me after being vaxxed and boosted. So when I looked for my thermometer and couldn’t find it, I did a quick curbside pickup of this thermometer from Target.

I tried Walmart but they wouldn’t bring it out to my car until the next morning, but I needed it that night as it felt as though my temp was spiking. I love how easy and simple it is to use this thermometer and also that they included extra ear tips as well.

The only gripe I have with this thermometer is the design. Internally where the batteries go, one of the metal contact clips fell down inside the casing. Initially I was going to bring it back to Target, but I was still sick and shouldn’t be out and about, and also I had already thrown away my receipt and the box for this thermometer.

So I was stuck with it. But being that I’m both techy and fixy, I decided to get my T5 torx screwdriver and pry tool and opened up the casing and put the metal contact back in it’s place which again, it attaches from the inside under the casing, which it’ll probably fall down in there again.

This is a good thermometer aside from the small design flaw.

I received this thermometer about a month ago and just had to use it. My son was sick and seemed ok but starting getting very warm. And then i remembered i had this. So i used it and was extremely impressed how easy and fast it took the temperature and accurately.

I took my own temperature right after for comparison and it was correct. I really like the replacement tips that are disposable they come in handy. Made me realize its safe and sanitary. With a quick push of the button without touching the tip that goes into the ear the plastic replaceable tip comes off with ease.

No need to worry about touching it with your bare hands or getting possible contamination. It is battery powered and works great. I love that i can take it with me anywhere. I highly recommend this product.

We’ve been using this thermometer since the start of the pandemic and have really liked the convenience of it. It gives us a good baseline, and then if we are concerned we use a more accurate ear thermometer.

It’s very easy to use, just hover over the forehead and push the button. It gives instant results! The battery longevity has been great too! Def a great tool to have in your medicine cabinet, esp for those middle of the night hot foreheads our kids always seem to get! Price is reasonable for what you get!.

Although this is only listed for personal use, I use it 5 days a week to take about 50 temperatures a day as part of screening people for the possibility of being infected with covid. This therometer is fast and easy to use.

The range of temperature readings is consistent and within the normal range. It has not displayed temperatures that would possibly be inaccurate, such as temperatures being in the 70s or 80s. Sometimes it displays the temperature that is in memory.

I can tell when this happens because two or more people that I am screening consecutively have the same temperature. When this occurs, I take my temperature and compare it to my baseline that I took within the last couple of hours.

The thermometer is at work, so I suggest you look at directions regarding how to take temperature without displayin prior one that is memory. I paid $47 using my own money because my employer did not replace the inaccurate one they provide for my use.

I consider the speed, ease of use and accuracy that have made job easier to be worth $47 of my own money.

This thermometer is truly the best thing to have when your kids are sick. This thermometer truly has made life way easier while my children are sick. My kids ended up getting a virus from school in their throat hurt they were coughing using a thermometer where I had to stick in her mouth was just annoying couldn’t get a precise reading because they would cough move it just was not easy.

So I came across this thermometer where you can put it in their ear push the button and it gives you the temperature in seconds. Which if you’re a parent raising kids and they get sick you know this is the best thing ever with it being super easy and convenient.

I am just so so on this thermometer. It is nice that it has ranges noted on what is actually a fever for different age groups but then it is a bit annoying to have to select an age group every single time you turn it on.

I wish it would remember the last age group used. It does get consistent readings if we double check by taking a temp multiple times in a row which is great. I’m not sure the “light and beep alert for accurate positioning” really works because it took and displayed a temp whether I touched the probe to my outer ear or inserted it in the ear canal.

That being said, the shape of the probe makes it pretty easy to insert and get a snug position. Nice that they include the two batteries upon purchase. Still a bit more expensive than a thermometer needs to be in my experience.

I am familiar with the Braun brand as before using the ThermoScan7 Ear Thermometer I believe I had the original one and it lasted my family 12 years. The ThermoScan7 is even better. It gives temp readings in one second which eases my mom mind when one of my children are sick.

It is very accurate as well. This one has an updated pre warmed tip as well as uses disposable lens filters to avoid cross contamination. It also has a fever guidance system depending on age range which is so neat.

I highly recommend this Braun Thermometer, this is a very trustworthy brand.

Vicks ComfortFlex Thermometer Is Great! You can use it for 3 different uses on your body. You can use it oral, rectal or the underarm. I always like the oral. It also has fever insight features which the screen changes colors from yellow green and red.

Red means that you have a high temperature yellow means it’s a mild temperature and green means it’s okay. I love that feature. This way also tells you if you or your child have a temperature which is awesome.

And it’s fast too it only takes 8 seconds to get a reading. It also has a memory feature which recalls the last reading so if you don’t remember what the last reading was your thermometer will tell you what your last reading was which is cool.

If thermometer is also flexible. This is a great thermometer I just love it.

This thermometer is great. As a mom of three young children, taking temps can be quite the task. Luckily, the vicks comfortflex thermometer is in my arsenal of tools. The part of the thermometer you use to put either under tongue or armpit (our preferred method) is flexible, so you can bend it a little to go with the flow of a wiggly toddler.

Results are super quick and I love the extra feature which highlights the final temperature reading with a color. Green for more fever, yellow for moderate and red for higher temp. I also appreciate that the thermometer comes with some disposable probe covers.

This is one of the reasons we usually stick to under the arm, but since we have these, we might try orally too.

Every time I try to use this it just says “Err” on the screen. Tried morning after morning and same thing. The instructions say operating temperature is 15 degrees upwards… so basically unusable in a Melbourne winter?! Anytime I want to use it now I have to warm it up with body heat for a few minutes, as it is winter so we rarely get over 15, especially in mornings when I’m more likely to use this.

Will work better in warmer weather I guess. Had I known this, I wouldn’t have bought it, especially for the price. Expected better. If there was a store near me I’d have returned it. When it does work though it’s fine.

We also appreciate the screen display lights after reading temperatures. Grew light means a normal temperature, yellow means the temperature is slightly elevated and red signals a high temperature. This helps our young kids understand their temperature checks.

I personally like this thermometer opposed to other forehead ones. I’ve had 4 different ones. This one has been most accurate. It’s a little bit of a range between temps but let’s be honest, do you have a fever or not? Medicine needed or not.

I personally scan my children’s forehead 3 times before I decide. It’s super quick and easy. Ofcourse there is going to be a a difference people, it’s EXTERNAL. If you want EXACT, get a RECTAL. Being a mom and a nurse, my main needs are met.

I love this thermometer in theory. It is comfortable to hold and easy to use. Results are delivered within seconds with the reading illuminated by a red, yellow or green light as a visual indicator of how to assess the numbers on the screen.

The ease is most notable when taking my children’s temperatures; what is typically an uncomfortable experience for them and a frustrating one for me is now drama free getting us back on the road to recovery sooner.

I dont even have a problem with the variability of the thermometer its still more accurate than anything you put under an armpit. I have a problem with the usability. Just think about it: most of us use thermometers once in a blue moon.

We dont remember an elaborate sequence of buttons needed to navigate the menu. For those of us with kids, we need it to work in a pinch. Unfortunately for this unit, if you press the only button one time too many or too few, you get stuck in a complex series of memory functions and unit changes.

This is an accuratet forehead thermometer, if it is a bit cumbersome to use, especially at first time use. There is only one button to turn on the thermometer, and when you press the button and whether you hold it down or release it determines which mode it enters.

It appears to record the most recent 8 temperatures, and depressing the button toggles between Fahrenheit and Celsius scale and whether the thermometer beeps “loud” or is silent. Overall, the temperatures appear accurate compared to an under-the-tongue thermometer, and I test myself every day with this thermometer as required by my work.

To use this thermometer, you press the button and hold it down, while moving the thermometer horizontally across the forehead from, say, the center of the forehead toward one temple or the other.

My daughter is grown now but I had to invest in one of these because she would get fevers constantly the first year of her life. She had febrile seizures because they would reach 105 degrees. We spent many a day in the children’s hospital.

I like the ease of use of this thermometer, you can’t push it too far in because it’s curved to stop. I always put baby Vaseline on it because obviously I didn’t want to hurt my child. This worked quick too so you weren’t in their poor behind for long.

This is the best rectal thermometer available on the market. It’s the only one I have been able to find that is accurate, quick&easy, & has the end designed to show you how far to insert. My daughter is 18 months & this is still the only thermometer we use & she doesn’t mind one bit.

My ONLY complaint & reason for 4 stars, is that it isn’t water proof. It says it’s water resistant, but it’s really barely even that. You can only get the tip that gets inserted wet & that’s it. Before I knew that I rinsed the entire thing under water & it broke right away.

So whatever you do do not get the round bulb of it wet. Also, these are extremely hard to find in stores! Other than that, perfect & highly recommended! :).

This Braun ear and forehead thermometer are so usefull and excelent – as it have two ways to check temperature, and just needs to take top cap for checking in eardrum or leave cap and check forehead.

Amazing is, that results comes in seconds, no disturbance for child and parent. It also have a memory, thats very helpfull for tracking temperature changes during ilness, a screen also indicates with green, yellow or red color, what means temperature level.

I was excited to try this due to my thermometer recently dying, that was a Braun which I have had for around 15 years so knew the name well and that the quality was very good. This is very easy to use, it’s the same as what the GPs use so you knowbits accurate and precise.

It’s great that it’s hygienic due to the little ear caps that you replace after each time you use it. Very simple to use, pop it in and press the button. I also like the traffic light system for if the temperature is normal, slightly high or high.

This is a very simple, easy, user friendly thermometer that gives accurate results. When being switch on it also checks that it had a cover over the tip of it doesn’t it won’t read which I like. It also lights up when first switched on I found this a big help when trying to check temp during the night.

When you go to check the temp press the button there is a then 3 lights at the top that go green once it has read the temp this is a great feature as you know as soon as it’s done. The screen will also go green or red screen relevant to the temperature so if temp is ok then green or to high red.

This thermometer is fast, digital display is easy to read, and the beep is louder than my old thermometer. I always like to have a second thermometer handy in case the battery goes bad on one. I wouldn’t want to be sick and discover my thermometer’s battery is dead.

So, for that reason I purchased the Vicks. Also, it’s not easy to always find the thermometer you want in the local stores. Many times they are sold out or don’t carry one you would want. I like this one and highly recommend.

Best rectal thermometer out there. Easy to use, baby never fusses while it’s in use and it’s relatively quick and very accurate. Lifesaver. If you have a new baby, do not bother with the under the arm thermometers.

Love the large display and the No touch options. Leave the cap on for forehead or pull it off for ear. Haven’t tried Bluetooth pairing yet. Works well and matches other thermometer readings. Really really like the large lit display for those times in a dark and dim room.

Bought this because of the flexible temperature taking options as well as the option to save temperatures for multiple family members through the app. Recommend taking temps. several times for a reading because sometimes it would be several degrees difference a half a minute apart- so I needed to take 3-4 readings to get the which temperature was accurate or use average temp.

When expecting our baby we registered for two thermometers – a forehead thermometer and this one. The first time baby got sick we were thankful we had this one on hand! It was fast enough that it didn’t even upset baby to take the temperature and I appreciate the handy chart on the back that reminds you what counts as a true fever.

This is a great thermometer to grab on the go when you can’t remember what you did with yours or just want an extra one to have, especially if you’re like me and need more than one in case you need to give the baby a rectal temp check! I like that the screen is a little bigger than the normal ones it’s very reasonably priced.

If I need any more, I’ll buy this one or a forehead one. My kids are way too old now for rectal temps! 🤣😂🤣😂 I’d definitely recommend to moms with infants though.

Use is pretty straight forward – so long as you can get it set the way you want it. It fits easy in the hand and all you do is turn it on, point it at your head and press a button. Voila! there’s your temperature.

But this unit fails on several counts. First, it is full of features but the manual is not particularly clear on how to access them. Playing with the mode button got me stuck in a place I did not want to be and I have no idea how I managed to get out of it.

The other big issue for me is that it does not have a button to turn the unit off. While I appreciate the auto-shut-off this allows the batteries to run longer than necessary thus the need to replace them sooner.

Having both an off button and the auto shut off would be ideal.

For those that don’t understand economics, the reason their price went up is simple supply and demand. The manufacturer sets the price and the retailer has to pay that price or not offer the product.

Walgreens had more in stock at the original lower price so no price changed. Today, it cost more to ship, takes longer and cost more to produce because the shortage of labor and goods. Don’t blame CVS, blame HealthSmart for jacking up the price.

This thermometer is so easy to use my 4 year old figured it out. It’s quick, easy and a relief not too have to struggle during a stressful time. We’ve had ours about 3 years now and its still going strong.

@ all mothers with babies under 3 years old I highly recommend this pacifier!!!! It is used for temperature, It’s very accurate also makes a sound once their temperature is too high. Honestly I wish I knew about this pacifier a long time ago It can be used from birth all the way to 3 years old.

I thought this idea was brilliant! The first two times I used it, it wasn’t accurate at all. I compared it to a roll-over-forehead thermometer that was always accurate. The third time I used it my son dropped it while I was holding him and it broke upon impact.

They need to create a better design that doesn’t break from a 4 foot drop and is more accurate.

my oldest child took a binky so he would use this. it was very easy to use and was acurte. and all i had to do to get his temp was replace his binky with this thermometer. but my youngest would not take a binky so he refused to use it.

as long as your child uses a binky this thermometer is a great thing to purches if he or she dose not use a binky then dont buy it.

Asking your kid to sit still is the hardest thing. Taking a temp reading normally means someone feels sick or getting sick. Teens and adults can communicate how they feel but for babies and toddlers it can be very difficult.

We’ve owned 2 other brand name forehead scanners. One that you had to slide across the forehead and one that you placed one inch away just like the Simple Scan. They all seem to read very similar. Some have better features than others.

For the Simple Scan, I think that it picks up temps pretty quickly, roughly 3/4 seconds. I like that it’s very simple. You can pick it up in the dark and check your child’s temps easily. I also like that there’s a quiet feature so it doesn’t wake up the kiddos.
