As an author I get stuck on certain aspects of the writing. The Emotion Thesaurus is laid out in a way I can find an emotion I am wanting to enhance on a character quickly while not losing my train of thought with my writing.

Another tool for aspiring writers. I suggest that the reader approach the information as a starting point to understanding physiological as well as emotional and psychological responses. I would avoid merely using the phrases as this can render your writing stilted and repetitive.

Instead, use The Emotional Thesaurus to gain insight into how characters may react and then write accordingly.

As an aspiring writer this book is a lifesaver for me. I love it and find it so helpful with my writing. I don’t know how I managed without it. I highly recommend it if you are serious about writing.

If you have a smartphone, then this book is probably superfluous since you can download free dictionary/thesaurus apps like the one from dictionary. com that include a much larger database of words. This thesaurus is useful but limited to essential words in the English language.

This is not surprising since it is, after all, a pocket thesaurus. Therefore, if you’re looking for a thesaurus that helps you connect and relate simple, everyday words with one another, and you often find that you’re stuck in generating synonyms yourself, then this is a great book.

If you’re looking to expand your vocabulary by basing it on existing vocabulary, and you already have a decent vocabulary, then you’re better off buying a more comprehensive thesaurus that includes a significantly larger number of words.

My Mom wanted a dictionary and thesaurus to help her write letters, do crossword puzzles, etc! This size fit the bill for her to conveniently keep it close at hand! My grand nephew even enjoyed looking at all the words and hes not even two!!! :-)).

Bought this for use at school, it’s a nice little thesaurus. Lots of words packed into it and it fits almost anywhere. It matches my mini dictionaty too, so that was cool. I like the way the cover feels, it’s sturdier than most, kind of a textured tougher feel than an ordinary paperback.

I’ve used a dictionary whenever I’ve needed word help, but, this is a gem in the hiding. It is a valuable tool that will be the first helps I’ll go to from now on.

There is something about opening a fresh paperback that incites discovery. Whether it be a new character or in this case, a new word to describe well, another word. It’s in this process that proved the Oxford Paperback Thesaurus a worthy purchase.

Excellent resource for writing; for students in particular but for anyone who needs to consider their usage of words. It is an easy format to consult, and the paperback edition is convenient. The breadth of reference is especially good.

This was to replace an old 25 year old thesaurus which I bought for my husband to help with his crossword solving. This new book is great with a few extras not in the old version. Husband loves it so success.

I thought this dictionary was for adults but it’s for grade school childern. I’ll give it to my niece when she’s in the 6th grade. This is a practical, well organized, and easy to use dictionary. I’m not going to go into details but it’s a very good dictionary for childern BEFORE high school.

Not heavy so it won’t weigh you down. It came in excellent condition.

This student thesaurus is extremely user-friendly. While there are no illustrations, the entries are straight forward and easy to navigate. This thesaurus contains many more entries than similar books for this age.

As an author I recommend this book to everyone. I can’t stand the same words used over and over again. This is a great way for teens to expand their vocabulary and make their essays better.

The book purpose for me was to help right resumes with few spellings errors. So far it has been useful in that sense to me. But it is a very large and bulky if I had a real good tablet, I would have used the electronic version.

I love this book. I have almost always preferred Websters Dictionary’s. I am in the process of writing a book and desperately needed a thesaurus. I also, occasionally, need a definition.

My daughter is going into the 5th grade. I needed source material that was easy to read but also advanced enough to get the job done. Webster’s dictionary was of course the only choice. Very glad I found this choice.

I bought this book for my 11 yr old grandson because he was always “borrowing” my copy. This book is an excellent resource for anyone who just can’t come up with that perfect word, whether in their writings or with their everyday conversations.

I highly recommend this book as one everyone should have access to. When I realized that my grandson thought this book was also a valuable asset I went to E-Bay, of course, to find one that he could keep for himself.

I would definately buy another copy if the need arises again.

Exactly as described. Purchased for my daughter to use in school, it will be a lot handier than carrying two separate books. Very pleased with it.

Disappointed that not more words are included in the thesaurus part. Also some dictionary words I have looked up haven’t been there either. I do like the fact that the dictionary meaning and the thesaurus equivalent (when it’s included) are in the same place.

And I like the indexed A-Z separations too. It’s handier than having 2 reference books to look up but I think using 2 books gives you a more comprehensive coverage of word meanings and synonyms.

We had used the Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus for many years and our copy was breaking up and falling apart as you picked it up, but it has been such a useful book we didn’t want to part with our dilapidated copy! Luckily I spotted this one – it is meant to be updated and exactly the same version but it is slightly different and although excellent for use in crosswords and everyday life it still does not hold on the information the older one does.

However, I believe this is as close as you will get! It is always to hand and used every day. Great purchase.

surprisingly poor, even for secondary school users or students. In the first few day I had to resort to internet searches. Disappointing. P. S. My wife’s English Dictionary, without the Thesaurus, issued in the sixties offers more not to mention supplementary pages with additional information on Addendum pages.

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone one with real appetite for knowledge and involved in reading anything more ambitious than tabloids.

I have always found a thesaurus to be handy when writing articles & letters. Keeps the conversion from getting stale.

This is a proper thesaurus of the English language from a time before the insanity of the political Left infested published works. An excellent substitute, useful for teaching youngsters to use a thesaurus outside a computer.

I bought this book as reference for college. It gives examples of definitions and tells if the word is used as noun,verb, adj. , etc. , in the examples. It also gives some synonyms. However, it is mighty stingy with its synonyms – some words only have ONE! Therefore, if you are looking for several synonyms for a word (more than one), you should find a better book.

I used to write good,but now with the thesaurus I write exceptional!!

I was actually disappointed when I got home and saw that only two of the five books were the ones I ordered. The other three are dated 09/2019 and the ones I ordered are dated 04/2020. I had previously purchased 3 copies and wanted to purchase 7 more of the 04/2020 copy.

I plan to check into other Office Depot/Office Max stores to get additional copies.

This is a fairly large print book. Could use more words, but I got it for my kids, so hopefully they start using it rather than asking me the meaning of every word!

Perfect for my kids who think OMW and TTYL are words. Good lord. Maybe with this product we will gain some knowledge and sound a tad more educated. #prayforme

The display on this was the wrong color print for me and the print was so small I couldn’t see it even in good light. Also, the programs were too hard for me to easily figure out. I just want a dictionary, thesaurus, and crossword solver, not 5 language dictionaries, games, SAT practices, etc.

Maybe a younger person/student would find more use for this device. I took it back to the store and returned it.

This gadget provides an easy to operate electronic dictionary. If you type in the word and it is not correct, you get a list of suggestions. It also has a thesaurus, punctuation guide, geographical and biographical dictionary.

There are other learning tools and games such as jumble and hangman. It will take some time before I know how the circular battery lasts.

I don’t keep my computer on; and don’t use it a lot-I don’t use cell phones. If I want to know something instantly-I receive an answer. at my fingertips-it’s great! I have, what I need, in my purse, pocket, etc.
