20 Best Thickening Shampoo Men (2022 Updated)

I received Kerastase Densifique Bain Densite Shampoo as part of a free sample program in exchange for my honest opinion. There are not a lot of shampoos I can sample because most have a harsh surfactant that I am allergic to.

Fortunately for me, this one did not have it. I was impressed with the thick creamy shampoo. The packaging was not my favorite because I prefer a pump for ease of use, but it wasn’t terrible. The directions say use a quarter size dollop, and that wasn’t going to work for my long hair.

But it has a nice, thick lather that I appreciated. The scent was not overwhelming and felt luxurious. I loved the way my hair felt afterwards as well. I am 5 months postpartum and am struggling with hair loss.

This product definitely made my hair feel a bit more full after just one use. I only shampoo about 2-3xs a week so I believe it would have been an even bigger difference if I shampooed more frequently.

Overall, I like the product and would definitely buy and recommend to others.

I received this product as part of a free trial, and my opinions are my own. I love the packaging. The large mouth on the top makes it nice to store upside down in my shower caddy, which helps me get all the product out.

The scent is nice, and the formula feels much like most high-end shampoos. I really enjoy a luxurious lather, and this does not disappoint. I have waist-length hair, and in order to get a good lather from root to tip, I have to use three times as much shampoo as the average person.

I shampoo twice to ensure my hair is clean. With the second wash I get even more lather. I have not, however, noticed any change in the density or thickness of my hair after one use. I have thinning hair at the top of my crown.

I was only allotted enough time to use the product once within my normal wash schedule before posting a review, so I cannot report on the claims of thickening my hair. But my hair feels very clean and has nice body.

After having two boys the front of my hairline just never came back like it was and the overall thickness of my hair just felt like it was lacking. I received this shampoo as part of a free sample program and prayed to the hair gods that it would help at least the front of my hair out.

I gave it a two week trial and now Im a believer in Keratstase. The Densifique shampoo plumped, volumized , and moisturized without weighting my hair down. I have oily scalp and this moisturized but I didn’t immediately have to wash my hair the next day bc it gave just the right amount of moisture.

The shampoo seemed to make my hair thicker to even the point when I styled it it felt like I was working with more hair to style. I have a mini bob and you can’t be flat with styling it and this shampoo gave me the plump I needed to be able to style my hair easier.

If you’re looking for an easy fix to post-partum thinning then definitely give Kerastase Densifique a whirl!.

This thing alone works wonders. All you have to do is put this on damp hair and blow dry, and you’ll see the difference. It’s freaking amazing. It smells good too. After you blow dry, you’ll see some ridiculously improved volume.

I’m going to be using this instead of the other expensive stuff. I’m serious, if you have fine hair, use this and you won’t regret it. I don’t usually write reviews, so this means a lot. Also, you don’t need the three step system.

You just need this. Just put it on after you come out the shower or after dampening your hair and then blow dry.

I’m a woman but saw these products and thought why not? If they can work for men they can work for me too! They’re fantastic! Really made my hair feel thicker and more full and even healthier. When I ran out and used a different shampoo and conditioner my hair definitely felt different.

Not as full or soft. Highly recommend for anyone!.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! I got it for free in a recent Voxbox and tried it twice and I flat out refuse to use it again. I have fairly dry skin and the second I this on my skin it set my scalp on fire. I was instantly scrabbling to wash it out! I looked at the ingredients and THIS IS AN ALCOHOL BASED PRODUCT.

It’s also full of acids, silicones, and parfum. Also, despite being branded “with castor oil”, it is the last ingredient on the ingredients list. Basically, a bunch if crap that is TERRIBLE for your skin/scalp.

I’ll say it again; for the love of god, DO NOT BUY THIS.

I am 54 year old man who is big fan of Jack Black products for last 10+ years. I tried this shampoo because of it says ‘thickening’ shampoo. I used it for 2 months, but actually I lose more hair than before.

So, I stopped and looking for other anti-hair loss shampoo. Anti-hair loss is a huge butter market as you know. How can you make this kind of worst product with Jack Black brand on ??? This is my first disappointment of your product.

I know result is vary for everybody, but it should not be worst result. ‘loosing more hair than other regular shampoo’ ???? You should check the product quality.

During lockdown my husband and I tried hair care products together (more like I tried them on him) because we both have fine thin hair. The Jack Black is good for fine hair because it gives his body – he grew it out to his chin and he’s got big curls at the ends.

Looks more full as opposed to lank. When he uses the conditioner with it – it’s not as fluffy but either way it works for him so much so I bought the same for his twin brother. It didn’t work for me, too tangly, but I have long hair.

I would prefer a little more moisture. On the odd occasion I’ll use it if I’m not styling my hair.

Love JB products, but i don’t think this one’s meant for hair that’s already thick, so that’s a mistake on my part. i’d recommend on thinner hair types. my hair is thick and it actually caused my hair to shed more than normal, so i definitely wouldn’t recommend this for thicker hair types.

has a great smell though and the conditioner works well, but the shampoo isn’t for my hair type as i learned.

I have been using Pete & Pedro Volume for some time now and it is the last shampoo you will ever need. In just a few washes my hair went from looking dull, flat, and lifeless, to looking and feeling incredible! The amount of texture and volume in my hair now is something that I never thought I could have again.

From the first time I used it, I felt a tingling sensation from my scalp. Almost as if my hair was thanking me. The smell is very nice too and feels very clean. I will continue to buy this shampoo and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little boost to their hair.

If you’re looking for more volume, this is the shampoo for you. Let me start with saying that you will first notice the wonderful scent of this shampoo, and then the rich lather. But in the end, you’ll find yourself appreciating the extra volume that this shampoo gives you.

I have thick hair, and most shampoos simply weigh my hair down. It’s tough for me to get volume from regular shampoos. This shampoo, though, gives me the volume that I’m looking for. It leaves my hair feeling “light.

” For the perfect combination I match it with Pete & Pedro’s Protect, Treat and Salt. My hair’s volume and texture is perfect, and it leaves my hair looking amazing (even with the haircut my wife gave me in our kitchen).

As a long time fan of Aaron’s youtube channel I’ve always wanted to support him in some way. Lo and behold I was surprised to see Pete and Pedro offered a volumizing shampoo. After reading through the list of high quality ingredients I immediately knew I needed to give the shampoo a shot.

This is one of the best volumizing shampoos I’ve used and it really does a great job at adding volume to your hair. I was immediately able to see results after one wash and I really appreciate the simple and clean look of the products packaging.

If you’re looking to add more volume to your hair you really can’t ask for a better product than this.

It does exactly what it says it will do! Excellent product! A larger size would be nice.

My partner absolutely loves this shampoo and its strong mintyness. He has used the other Go24-7 shampoos but this is his favourite by a country mile!

Great smell, cleans with a nice tingling sensation, and makes my hair thicker and fuller! A+.

The first time I saw fewer hairs but then I have seen that they continue to fall a lot. Biotin is the last ingredient it has. The ingredients are put in order from highest to lowest concentration, so it has almost no biotin.

This is the best shampoo I’ve tried so far. Prior shampoo leaves my hair dry and causes a fair amount of falling hair. I don’t experience that anymore. Sure, there is still falling hair but it’s been significantly reduced (average of 5 strands!) and I feel my hair is soft to the touch.

Two more things I like about this shampoo are: 1) it controls dandruff; and 2) a small amount is enough to get a full lather. Highly recommended.

I’m almost 50 years old, and I’ve been having trouble with thinning hair over the last ten years or so, and I had very high hopes when I bought this shampoo. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice any improvement.

Honestly, my hair felt worse after using it – dry, wiry, and lots of tangles (which never happened with other shampoos I’ve used). It looked and felt even thinner too. I rarely leave bad reviews, but I don’t want this to happen to someone else.

I want to start this review off by saying I’ve used this shampoo for nearly 1 year and my review is completely honest from my own experience ofcourse. I first got this shampoo when I’ve started to feel like my hair could use a little boost / better shampoo.

I searched online for one and bumped into this shampoo and after reading the comments over I got convinced and bought it. At first I was really pleased with the shampoo, it felt refreshing, smelled like citruses which I love and made my hair dryer which was a plus for me since my hair is oily often.

BUT, it didn’t take long for me to notice negative results. My hair progressly got thinner and thinner, started from seeing some hair on my palms when I moved my hand through, to the point I’ve seen bunch of hair on my towel after I showered.

After realizing my hair is falling apart, I decided to change back to normal shampoo to see if there is any difference and there was, my hair got back to normal after a month or two. It took me too long to realize I should stop using this shampoo since I didn’t imagine that this shampoo is the cause for my excessive hair loss.

Anyways, this is my absolute genuine review from my experience, I don’t know what caused this but appraently I’m not the only one aswell from what I’ve read online so yea. I hope my review helped you decide wheter to buy it or not.

I’m definitely not repurchasing nor recommending this shampoo ever again.

Why did I wait so long? I have used their OI oil in 2014 which is quite incredible. I love that this is a natural product line. I knew with this first time shampoo experience it was going to be good.

And it did not disappoint. While I did not experience more volume I did get very soft, fluffy clean hair. The smell is very unique too. A smell I cannot describe. Not bad, just different. I do alternate shampoo so I dont use this every time.

I would recommend.

This is one of the best shampoos I’ve ever used—and I’ve spent a tiny fortune on my hair and quality hair products. I love this shampoo—and it’s from Italy. The scent is mild. I appreciate that there is no chemically-derived fragrance.

The quest for volume can come with consequences in harsh ingredients that can even affect your health as with biotin. It’s a needless risk when you have a pure and effective shampoo with minimal ingredients.

There is so much thickness to my hair—and not just for one day. I’m looking forward to trying a Davines conditioner now during the dryness of indoor heat.

Really wanted to like this shampoo and was super excited based on the reviews. It was lighted scented (which I didn’t mind), non-irritating for my scalp, and added some volume for the first day. However, hair quickly became greasy near the scalp and never felt truly clean.

I have fine hair and am prone to grease, but not to that extent! Ended up going back to my previous shampoo and immediately saw improvements.

I have been using cheaper product for whole of my life and never had any issue, until one day I started having a bad hairfall due to stress and decided to give this product a try. Never spent this much money before for a small bottle of shampoo but somehow I believe this product will deliver due to its brand name, I immediately bought 2 bottles plus Initialiste serum which btw is no longer a product on Kerastase in a matter of 3 months since I purchased it back in July 2022 I tried the shampoo and serum, within the first week I noticed dry scalp forming in one part of my head which I thought maybe it’s still adjusting to the new product? I tried another week, the dry scaly scalp was happening kind of on and off.

I thought again maybe it’s the changing season/weather. I was really desperate for it not to be caused by the products as I paid so much money for it that were advertised to supposedly help with your scalp.

Here I am three months in, dry scalp not just in one part of my head but all over it. Constant itchiness and dandruff even within a day after washing my hair. I’m sad that I have only used half the bottle and still have one full bottle as supply, spent $174 for all of it but you know what? I think I’d rather lose that money than having permanent damage to my scalp Very bad first and last experience with Kerastase, never buying again.

Could have afforded 3 years supply of my usual product with that kind of money and lived with no issue.

I was expecting a high quality shampoo that left my hair feeling clean. Instead, i needed a shampoo to clean out this daily shampoo. My haircut person suggested J. But agreed that it left my hair like it had residue of some sort.

I’ve got great hair that is thick and lots of body. The daily shampoo made it totally unmanageable. Usually just run a brush through it and go. Tossed the J. Beverly Hills after 5 days.

Just grabbed this for my boyfriend today. We sell it at the salon I work at! It was a huge hit with him. It’s very nourishing for his somewhat coarse curly hair. He appreciated the “manly” smell. His words.

The headline is serious. This stuff smells amazing. Sometimes I like to just lean over, press my face into his cheek, and breathe. It smells SO good I may switch him over to the full line just so he will continue smelling like this product.

It is also very moisturizing, like many men he grew a depression beard in 2020 while at home and hasn’t had one during our relationship because I never liked how scratchy it was so I figured if he was going to have one now, it was in my best interest to make sure it was taken care of.

This is the softest his beard has ever been, it is so much nicer to kiss him now and provides no protection against me creepily sniffing his face. Will absolutely buy it again.

Smells more like chocolate mint chip ice cream than tea trea. I’ve never believed Every Man Jack to be high grade products, but they’ve done a nosedive recently. I tried the first one years ago, admittedly because I like the packaging.

Now that’s been runied too. Just cheap looking labels instead of silkscreen. What’s really important are the contents. They say “Naturally Derived,” but I’m suspicious it’s not 100%, every thing I’ve tried this year has the same noxious chemical stench as most laundry detergent.

This sugary smelling dreck smells just as bad as OGX Tea Tree Mint.

Saw this at Target and thought my husband would like it since he has a long and thick beard. His beard was getting a little rough so I thought this might help soften it. He’s been using it for a month now and OMG.

The smell is addicting and his beard is softer than before. I would literally buy this for him again just so that I can selfishly smell it on him everyday.

I have used Redken for 30 years. it seems like no matter which formula I like, they discontinue it. I used to use Go Clean and I liked it. When L’OREAL bought the brand, the quality suffered. Redken Brews Daily was not good and I thought all hope was lost.

Then I tried the Extra Clean and lived it for years. Now it’s discontinued and they recommend this scented water. It even says it’s lightweight which is fine if you have normal hair and work in an office.

But if you exercise or have even slightly oily hair, this is not for you!.

This is my most favorite shampoo. It moisturizes, lathers and softens my hair like no other. I use it three times a week to maintain cleanliness and balance. It’s quite thick so you just need a small amount and the product will last quite a long time.

The mint fragrance is very light which I like very much. I like this better that the other Redkin shampoos or other popular hair products such as Pureology, Aveeda or Matrix. I haven’t noticed any negative effects of this in my color treated hair while using this shampoo.

Very happy with this nourishing cleanser. This is highly recommended if you are looking for a shampoo to retain moisture in your hair.

My hairs been turning slowly grey over the last year or so. So rather than go down the Grecian 2000 route Ive decided to embrace the inner silver fox in me and go for the allout Phil Schofield look not the full Max Clifford though as a mate unhelpfully described it.

Anyway, even after the first use I noticed quite a difference it really does neutralise those inbetween salt and pepper or brassy tones and enhances the white hairs. The bottles not huge but I was surprised by how little you need to get a good result I use about the size of a 50p.

It lathers well to a purple foam that you leave on for about five minutes before rinsing and no it doesnt stain your handsbasin etc. It advises that you only need to uses it a couple of times a week between normal washing and this does seem entirely sufficient.

So, Im roughly estimating that this 300ml bottle will last me a few months at least. So, all in all, its very effective and pretty good value. Recommended.

I bought this for my husband and son who suffer from very dry scalps. Within a week they both noticed wonderful results and my son didn’t feel itchy at all. Also feels much more confident with less dandruff.

Recieved this item for free in a voxbox for my boyfriend to try out. He already has pretty thick hair but tried it anyways, and it did help his hair to look and feel thicker. The scent was pretty mild so I tried it on my own (much thinner) hair one night.

It seemed to work pretty well and most of the ‘manly’ scent was gone. The only downside to the product was that it seemed to irritate my scalp,causing a bit of itchyness. If you don’t have a sensitive scalp and are looking for a thickener give it a try! #free.

Product is good. I would give 3. 5/5 it definitely helped with thinning. I still have hairfall. But my hair looks thicker and fuller. I have so much volume in my hair now. I been using this every night before bed.

After put it on cover it with shower cap works better.

There was no discernable notice on the product, in the listing, or in the ingredients to indicate there would be some kind of menthol/mint/icy-hot-like substance in this shampoo. This was extremely disturbing to my family member who suffers from sensory sensitivities and came as a shock upon using the product, while hoping for a simple 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner that may also help with dandruff.

We’ve both used dandruff shampoos before and have never had this unpleasant effect. I tried this shampoo myself and also found it to be uncomfortable. The ingredients list does not adequately identify which ingredient is causing this, making it harder to avoid this effect with other dove products.

Our society has SEVERAL individuals who are sensory sensitive, especially individuals in our population with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is vital that we are aware of the needs of others, and the needs of sensory-sensitive people include not being shocked by wasting money on a product they can’t use because they were not adequately informed of an affect that would lead them to feeling uncomfortable or experiencing a panic attack.

PLEASE put more adequate labeling on your products to warn others that this product provides this cooling sensation as this is NOT a common thing to expect from a shampoo, and please list in your ingredients which chemical causes it so those who need to avoid it can.

Let me preface this with 2 facts about myself: 1) I have had dandruff/dry scalp since I was a kid and nothing had ever helped, and 2) I don’t typically leave reviews, even if I really like a product.

With that being said, this is the first dry scalp shampoo/conditioner that have ever worked for me, so I figured this might be helpful to anyone else who has had to deal with dandruff. I have been this shampoo/conditioner combo for a couple months and, within a couple weeks, noticed I wasn’t scratching my scalp as often.

Then today, I did a dandruff check, wherein I rapidly scratched my scalp for 5-10 seconds while hovering over my black tabletop. gross, I know, but I was curious as to how many flakes would fall out.

Whereas before using this combo, I could quickly scratch my for half a second and have a ton of flakes fall out onto my black clothing. Today, only 1 or 2 tiny flakes fell out. Idk about you, but that’s results to me.

So, I came here to write this! As for those reviews from people saying this dried out their hair, note I try to only shampoo my hair once or twice per week MAX. I haven’t noticed that my hair has become dry with this shampoo/conditioner.

I will point out that I use a leave-in conditioner once or twice a week as well.

My fiance, brother, and step-dad all use Some type of Dove’s men’s product. They like the 2-in-1 shampoo and condition because it actually makes their hair feel soft instead of dry Luke a lot of 2-inz1 products.

It also has a fresh clean smell that isn’t musky, but isn’t to feminine. I’ve borrowed the dove men’s 2-in-1 when I had ran out of ku shampoo and it worked nicely didn’t take alpt of to get a lather, and didn’t leave my hair feeling dry.

I have extra long hair and still used my condition, because a 2-in-1 is just not enough for my hair, but this one didn’t leave my hair feeling super dry and stringy like other 2-in-1’s I probably would have been right if I hadn’t used my own condition, but with long hair like-new my end crave that extra moisture I get from.

My conditioner. Good price that actually worked well for men’s hair and last them a long time.

I find this shampoo excellent for removing slight dandruff and dry flakes. Also good to remove styling products left overs. The scent is discreet and suits women the same as man. It rinses out well and doesn’t dry out the hair.

My husband is using this his hair is thin and would separate. This seems to make it hold together. Much fuller looking!

It’s okay for a combination product. The size is great, of course. Unfortunately my beard hair becomes dull (felt) after the application. Let’s see if this changes with regular use.

American crew is a really great product and works exactly as advertised. Its smooth and rich in texture and leaves your hair a little crunchy while firmly holding hair in place. but it’s just to expensive.

I can get the same quality hair care If not less from a local grocery store for 75% less. I would use this product all the time, I just wish it was more affordable. I recommend this product for a high quality salon product that works! 👌.

This gel smells so good on a man! It works really well too. It’s good to use every day and it doesn’t leave a build up. It’s not cheap, but it’s not too expensive either. I love it when my Husband uses this.

Especially when he’s wearing cologne.

It has a pleasant masculine scent, not offensive. It is easy to spread throughout the hair (unlike some of the other “ultra firm” hold hair gels) and can be easily diluted with a little water. However, this gel takes about an hour to dry at room temperature once applied.

The smell disappears quickly and begins to acquire an odd consistency. in my case, it was not a good option.
