20 Best Thin Ski Socks (2022 Updated)

I went with the zero cushion because they don’t make the race lights anymore. I’d prefer that. I don’t mind the thinness, my feet stay warm in my snowboard boots. However, my feet slide terribly in the boots.

Yes, my boots fit perfectly, toes just barely touching the front. With my other Smartwood socks, I don’t have this problem. It feels like the socks are made with too much Nylon. I also don’t feel the sock wicks away enough moisture.

It’s a disappointment, for sure. I’ve loved their stuff for so long and now I will probably move away from their product. The socks are comfortable and will probably just turn into cold weather socks and not be used for being active.

I love Smartwool socks. These are my favorite socks in the early spring and late fall. I wear these with waterproof boots in the seasons when it is cold and wet. I use a thicker sock in the winter and an ankle sock in the summer.

But these socks are the best for those transition seasons. I can hike ~20 miles a day in these socks and my feet stay happy and healthy the entire trip. These socks have the perfect amount of cushion in just the right places, they wick well, they dry overnight and can be used multiple consecutive days.

I’m really hard on my footwear and I’ve never had these fail. I typically get about three years out of these socks. I think they are the best.

If you want the best in socks, there is none better than Fox Socks. I enjoy the Telluride for its excellent foot and leg coverage.

These socks are not of the same quality as the Arapaho OTC socks I currently have the elastic is not strong enough to keep the socks from falling down as you walk cannot recommend this sock

These socks are super efficient, they keep my feet warm and they stay up. I especially like how they are thick socks without feeling like thick socks, they fit into my regular shoes without being tight.

I thought I would want a warm and cozy sock, but these are actually a little too thick for my ski preference. They are great for cold days or lounging around the house! Probably won’t opt for this version again because of that.

They aren’t the warmest sock I’ve ever used.

I was looking for a thinner sock for skiing for my child and these are perfect. There is extra padding on the shin and around the sole of the sock, but it’s thin everywhere else. Size chart is accurate.

My child wears size 1 shoes and the medium fits with a bit of room to grow.

My young hockey player/nordic skier loves wearing these at the rink and on the trails. They are long and stay up without being too tight. No more reports of cold feet while on the ice!

These are now my favorite socks doe winter and cold weather wear. They fit perfectly, are comfortable, soft and snug, while not too tight anywhere and thickness over foot and calf are perfect for all my cold weather shoes and boots.

Have had no chafing or hot spots. These will be my first choice sock when ever weather is cool.

If you like thinner – not bulky/squishy ski socks – these are great!

I have been using this sock for as long as you had made it. Sold this sock in my ski shop Sunset Ski Repair in Snowmass Village, CO till I sold it. Bought some last year from Sports Authority but they are not the same like maybe seconds.

I am 38 year full certified teaching pro at Snowmass. Best thin sock on the market.

I really do like these socks. I gave a 4 instead of a 5 because I typically like thicker socks for skiing. My feet run super cold (I have Raynaud’s) so I could use a little more warmth to these. However great for spring skiing when you don’t have a super cold day.

I actually love running and hiking in higher length socks, and these are great for any athletic activity. The socks didn’t move in my ski boots and fit very comfortably in these. Same goes for shoes.

I would still buy these for other activities, but will look for warmer rated smartwool socks for skiing. #smartwoollove.

These sock are really nice and stay up on your leg without any discomfort. I thought they would be a little thicker but wasn’t disappointed when I put them on. I was surprised how warm they are being so thin.

Not sure how warm they would be in the extreme cold. I was recently looking into Sock Liners for really cold weather but after doing a lot of looking realized these would be perfect as a liner for extreme cold or wear alone for warmer days.

I’m glad I found them. I ‘m perfectly happy with these socks and my sock liner search is over I already have them.

I live in Alaska where it’s most comfortable for me to wear knee-highs for about 8 months of the year. I got these hoping they’d be a good neutral to pair with all of my tops that are on the magenta color spectrum, and that’s how they are working (note: I mostly wear shoes with long pants, so only the ankle shows).

I also got a pair of second-hand dusty lilac cords and these socks work great with those too. They’ll be great with boots/skirts also. Nice squishy cushion. I wish SmartWool made more socks in knee-high height; crew socks just don’t cut it in Alaska for most of the year.

Wore them with trail running shoes on a freezing and rainy day at 4500 m (14763 feet), and even though I was completely wet, they still kept me warm. Also, they are absolutely comfortable, they don’t move around, and I didn’t get any blisters.

The quality is amazing. I’m absolutely in love with them.

I just bought a pair of these and am finding them super soft and warm. They are snug but not tight. They stay up nicely and they cover my calves without being too tight. I use them mainly for snow shoeing.

Being a newbie to ski socks, I am so happy to wear my Bridgedale mountain ski socks. I am the kind of woman who battles staying warm and I mean just during the average day, forget the skiing completely.

These socks are wonderfully warm, not too tight, and nearly reach my knees and my legs are rather long. They wash well. I will only buy this brand of ski socks in the future. Well worth the price for they are excellent.

Three years ago, I purchased my very first pair of FITS from Elliot’s in Maryville TN the guy assured me they were the best socks on earth and that I would have no regrets paying 20 bucks for a pair.

Several pairs later, I can safely say these socks are everything and more ! Who can say they love their socks? I can! It’s weird to be so happy about buying a new pair of socks, but happy I am indeed.

I actually grieve when I have to retire my threadbarren pair with double holes in the toes from wearing them inside out. These really are the best socks in the whole world. Thank You FITS for making the best quality socks anyone could ask for.

I have owned/used these socks for the last three ski seasons. As a ski professional, I ski daily, five months out of the year. I have close fitting ski boots that do not have room for cushioning and extra padding.

I choose the Ultra Light sock for that reason. The sock hugs my foot and lower leg without ever bunching up or cutting off any circulation. This sock allows for great feel for the snow and ski, not affecting performance.

After about 150 days in the sock, I did get a thinning out of the fabric at the bottom of the heel. Totally acceptable at that point in my book. The rest of the sock like new. These wash beautifully.

I dry them in the dryer on a normal temperature setting. I have a size W10-10. 5 narrow, low volume foot and wear a size large.

I found the solution. My son raves about Fits, so I ordered a few and was not happy. They just were too snug, too fitting, too compressed for me & I avoided wearing them. Because he continued to rave, I finally decided to try again, this time my solution was to order a bigger size than normal & it worked.

I now love my Fits, Med. Ski, they are perfect. I just needed them to be a little less snug, less compressed. I am very, very happy & re-ordered2 more pairs Med. ski.

Reviews are relative. This was my experience. The foot of the sock was among the most comfortable I know. Truly like a second skin, but not restrictive. Pleasantly snug and quite perfect. The leg of the sock was also excellent.

For my taste, the leg wasnt long enough for my leg. It came to the widest part of the calf, without going all the way over the calf. Judging by the fit of the foot bed, I think it was the right size for me, so, going up a size for more leg length wouldn’t work, I dont think.

Also, there was a slight bit of ‘cording’ at the top hem. By that, I mean it was a little tighter than the leg of the sock, so there was an impression in my leg. Now, that is MY leg, which is starting to hold a little fluid as I age, so it could be perfect for others.

For me personally, another few inches of length would solve my issues, but everyone can’t expect a custom fit just for them. The socks are wonderful and I am proud they are made in my home state. I definitely will be keeping my eye on your products.

I have a long history with Thor-Lo. I worked part-time at a tennis and racquetball club from the mid-eighties through the mid-nineties; and the pro shop sold thor-lo socks. Once I had tried thor-los there was no going back.

Thor-Lo’s over the calf basketball socks were my regular socks for years. For the past three years or so, the Thor-Lo Extreme Cold socks are my winter socks, and the 12-Hour Shift Work Maximum Cushion Over The Calf socks have me covered for the other three seasons.

My husband absolutely loves Thorlos socks, he’s been wearing them for years. He wears mostly above the calf Thorlos and they’ve lasted for years because they’re made so well. Quality – check, tears of wear – check.

Cant go wrong with these socks. Now that I’m an official sock addict , I’ll be ordering from this site.

The small amount of extra padding in shin and heel healped reduce my issue of heel slippage I was experiencing. Warm and wick and dry moisture extremely well.

I have not worn these yet but I bought them because they have always been reliable for both Alpine and Nordic skiing.

Tears are flowing down my face as I write this review. The Flexfit Cupron mask was phenomenal until I lost it. It fit perfectly, it was protective, and fashionable. A co-worker of mine purchased a number of them after seeing mine and having a discussion about its functionality & reliability.

Now. it’s gone! Lost! Thank you Fox River, I’ll be purchasing another. absolutely!.

Pros: Comfortable, fit well without constant adjusting, breathing is easy, my glasses don’t fog up! Put on & take off & put on again is easy & no ear loops to deal with. Cons: for larger head sizes, fit can be too tight.

Fashionable? not. Wash carefully, colors bleed. Effective? Hope so!.

Love these socks. My wife bought three pair to try. Loved them that much we bought another three pair. So comfortable, they fit like a glove. Love the added cushion as well as copper compression. Definitely recommend especially if you are a runner.

I was a little reluctant to get these as they had a few mediocre reviews, but I have bought so many Omni-Heat items that work great, I decided to give them a try. I am so glad I did as I was skiing in 5-10F weather, and my feet (which normally would be cold below 20F) were never cold.

I am planning to buy another pair. They are comfortable and work!.

Unfortunately this sock appears to be over priced. I work outside and I wear a lot of Omni heat base layers. but my feet are very hard to keep warm. When I found this Omni heat sock I was so excited.

I was disappointed to find that this sock has one rather small patch of Omni on the inside of sock, located on the top of foot. Was really hoping forore heat. My left $35 sock also had a small hole on the top toe area.

These ski socks are great. I wear them when running and while at work with winter boots. My foot size is 8. I chose the larger size and the foot is not sloppy even though I’m at the lower end of the indicated size range.

I’ve got muscular calves – 15” circumference. The socks are not tight on my calves. Bonus. The socks stay up nicely. The rubbing at the top is doubled and it doesn’t dig into my leg there either. Extra bonus.

The interior of the socks are cushy. The material doesn’t hang up on my callouses nor feel weird. The material is warm without causing overheating. Wild I buy them again? Definitely.

Good quality, like the height, they stay up. But didnt keep as warms as suspected. They are the right socks for the right condition. I use a duty boot in cold temps. If they were thicker, might work better.

Love them! Wore them snowshoeing on a 20ish degree day. They stayed up & kept my feet & legs warm! I also have a pair of Everyday Enhanced socks & they were the reason for this purchase & the other 2 pairs of WORN socks I bought.

I bought my first pairs of worn socks some years ago. They have remained resilient and comfortable.

These are a nice pair of functional, utilitarian socks. Well built and obviously designed with durability in mind. Pros: Sleek, thin, form-fitting material that is highly breathable and avoids bunching.

(Maybe a little too tight) Fit true to size No hot spots Stay cool when activity levels increase Ultra durable, I mean it – these socks will hold up to whatever you throw at them. Truly Over the Calf, if you pull on them enough they could be Over the Knee.

Cons: My biggest gripe with Darn Tough socks, which I love, is the asymmetric toe design. I wish they made left and right footed socks and if they ever make the decision to do so I will gladly replace every other sock brand in my dresser with Darn Tough.

The material feels a lot more like nylon and less like Merino wool (hence the durability) Just don’t expect soft, plush socks. Worth noting: The material around the calf might be a little too tight. I find myself looking forward to taking them off after a long hike and it takes a few hours for the socks imprint on my upper calf to disappear.

I don’t consider this a Con however, socks that don’t stay up are a major pet peeve of mine and these definitely don’t slouch while hiking. Overall, these are a solid pair of socks that should outlast any other reasonably built pair of socks you own.

The trade off is that they aren’t super comfortable- but comfortable enough. One last thing: The website describes these as RFL OTC ultra light socks. I didn’t, and still don’t, have any idea what RFL means (Real F#$&ing Loud? Robot Fighting League?) No idea.

There is no explanation online or on the packaging. The package doesn’t even have RFL anywhere on it but it does say SNOW across the front in big bold letters. In fact, that’s all it says on the packaging.

So… apparently these are snow socks, thought you’d like to know.

T4050 is a nice blend. Like the heavyweight feel of the socks-79% Merino Wool, 20% Nylon & 1% Lycra Spandex. Of course, it’s NOT wintertime right now, so cannot say how they will preform in colder weather.

The cushion is nice though. They calf area doesn’t pinch into the skin or leave the “ring around the leg indentation” like other cheap socks do. LOVE how they engrave the T4050 into the sock on the TOP of the toe area.

Makes it easy to see WHICH sock you’re using and for reorder’s too. THANKS DARN TOUGH for going AGAINST THE GRAIN of what other company’s do(not putting the style # on theirs). Haven’t washed them yet, so cannot say how that will look.

These socks are great! I have over 35 pairs of Darn Tough socks now (various weights, models and designs) and all my other socks have been relegated to the rag bucket. Merino wool notwithstanding, these socks are just outstanding in all aspects.

As someone that wears Danner Fort Lewis boots all day/nearly every day (for the last 40+ years) that can pretty quickly wear out the usual players in the ‘high end’ sock world, these Darn Tough socks hold up like no other ‘high end’ socks I’ve ever owned.

Wish I’d found these a long time ago. Expensive? A little. Worth it? Absolutely. Get some. You won’t regret it.

4* socks, quality is very good, but lost a star because they are not full length knee high. Buy from with confidence, great site with great prices.

I’ve purchased other brands, and some have been alright, but nothing beats Fits socks. Living in the Northeast, just outside Boston, you need warm socks that do not feel too thick or uncomfortable. These guys fit the bill! They are a little higher on my leg then I am usually used to but this is a good thing as it provides much needed warmth! The sasquatch pattern is fun but not obnoxious.

These socks feel incredible and your toes and feet will thank you! A great purchase option for sure!.

I haven’t gone snow skiing in years, but I love these socks because they are warm and comfortable, and they stay on my feet without crawling or bunching. I wear them with my high-heel ankle-boots that I wear to work.

The socks I had before would fall down and bunch up inside the boot. Or the toe-seams would shift around and end up under my foot where they would hurt. These have no toe seam, and they stay put all over the foot and up over the calf, so they feel great all day long.

I imagine they would also be perfect for skiing, but I have never used them for that purpose.

These socks gave instant relief, they are hard to put on[arthritic hands] but very comfortable.

doesn’t wick well, overpriced, I was super excited for these and then after using them I decided that my darn toughs trusted and true were drier and felt better than these. my recommendation would be to thin this sock out, use more wool/blend to make more breathable and don’t make it so hard to put on.

Despite the compressed fit, the sock still bunches of up on foot in certain spots near heel. I’m a normal dude with size 9 feet.

I’ve always used high quality wool or wool blend ski socks for ski touring. I’ve also always carried duct tape to tape my heel to avoid or treat blisters. No more. I used these for the first time last April on multi day hut tour.

Never had a blister since in 10 or so days since. I even used single pair for 4 consecutive days without washing on the hit tour and no stink. I’m donating all my wool socks.

These are my go-to fall or spring/winter sock for biking, running and hiking. Also spring skiing or longer days in the backcountry. I’m a ladies 8, and can wear a small or a medium. I own both sizes and like them both.

The small has more compression as I have muscular calves. Good for injuries!.

Within single day of wearing the socks, there are pills allover my socks. I haven’t even washed it and the condition of the socks has already become bad. I bought the product from Decathlon thinking it will be durable.

But, completely shocked with how the product turned out. I bought 4 pairs of socks. Sheer waste of money! Disappointed! Unexpected from a brand like Decathlon.

Hi – I ordered this product as I thought it’s very warm and since it’s Decathlon product, it will be durable. Within literally wearing it for a day, there are pills allover the socks. I haven’t even washed it.

Didn’t like the product as compared to other winter gears that we took for our Gulmarg trip. Though you can manage it with this but not very thick to keep the feets warm. I had some other sports socks and surprisingly they were better.

These socks are anatomically designed to fit your feet. They are very warm and fit true to the sizing chart. Make sure to check the chart as the sizing may be slightly different from what you would ordinarily be inclined to buy for size.

I love the merino wool for its moisture wicking properties and its warmth. Wool is so much better than straight synthetics for multiple reasons and is very durable. Merino wool is also not scratchy like other types of wools so they feel great.

Very pleased with this purchase and its well worth the extra money spent on a good pair of socks. The cushioning is also excellent for long days standing or recreating in cold weather!.

Amazing socks. My wife has had Icebreakers for a while and it was my first pair. Incredibly warm on those cold snowy days and super comfortable. I am 6 foot and it goes all the way up to high calf length.

One thing to be careful of – it doesnt grip on floorboards and has caused me to slip a few times. Something to be aware of. Other than that, amazing and I will be buying more pairs in the future.

These socks are great for what I bought them for which is winter running socks that provide a lot of coverage, that breathe well and are fairly warm. They fit the bill. Be aware that I wear a size 9 which is at the bottom of the size range I picked and these are tight fitting.

If you’re at the high end of that range you may want to size up. The only other caveat is that these are made for activity, not so much keep you warm while you’re static so they are warm enough for hikes, skiing or runs but not for just hanging out outside.

I commute by bicycle year round in Chicago. In the rain/snow I wear a tall pair of insulated wader type boots. The length of these socks make it so I no longer need to wear long johns (and therefore overheat) to avoid chafing.

I tuck my knickers into these socks and off I go. I started with one pair of these socks. I now have three. Do not feed them after midnight I guess.

I love these socks more than I expected. They are not bulky, but very toasty on my feet when I ski and snowshoe (or even hike). The fit is perfect, better than the mid-weight Duckworth socks which seem to run large.

I love the height of these socks and they don’t squish my calves, but are very comfortable. I think I need another pair or two to get through winter.

I haven’t had a really cold day yet, with that said these socks seem somewhat thin. I tried them on to see how they fit and just barely cover my Cavs I am warry that if they shrink they won’t fit. Just have to see.

All other products I have purchased are great.
