Thomas Sowell is an American economist and political commentator. He is currently a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Sowell was born in North Carolina and grew up in Harlem, New York.
He dropped out of high school and served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He later received a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a master’s degree from Columbia University. He has taught at a number of universities, including Cornell University, UCLA, and Amherst College.
Sowell is the author of more than thirty books, including “Basic Economics,” “The Vision of the Anointed,” and “Intellectuals and Society. ” His work focuses on economic, social, and cultural issues.
Sowell has been a critic of affirmative action, welfare, and minimum wage laws. He has also written extensively about race and ethnicity.
