20 Best Thule Cargo Box (2022 Updated)

I owned Thule Force 624 (medium) cargo box before upgrading to Force XT (XL). The objective was obviously to have more room to carry a couple of extra camping gears or taller boxes. Because Force XT is a newer model, I expected some improvements other than the bigger size I chose.

Owning other quality products from Thule, I hoped I would love Force XT. Unfortunately, I cannot like it due to the following shortcomings: 1. There is a hump in the middle of Force XT, which keeps flat objects like suitcases and boxes from sitting flat, reducing practical height inside Force XT.

While the theoretical volume inside Force XT (in liters) is greater than that of Force 624, the hump significantly reduces its practical capacity. 2. As many other reviewers have mentioned, the lid of this box is flimsier and hence difficult to close, even when the box is empty.

3. Despite its thick spine/hump in the middle to reinforce Force XT, the floor of Force XT bends relatively easily. For instance, whenever I put a heavy item like a camping tent in its nose, it bends, making it difficult to close the lid.

I almost always rearrange luggage two to three times to close the lid. A very annoying experience at the airports or campsites. 4. The keyhole well is stupidly deep. It is as deep as the length of the key, making it difficult to insert and twist the key, especially if you have gloves on or when the visibility is poor.

5. The PowerClick mounting locks prevent you from over-tightening, BUT they do not stay affixed. As soon as I unmount the box, the locking mechanism comes off and rattles inside the box. Overall, I feel that this upgrade is a downgrade in many ways.

Based on the above design flaws, which are common across all sizes of Force XT, I cannot recommend this cargo box to anyone. In fact, I would love to return it for a refund or exchange it for a better design.

I came across other reviews and saw that some mentioned poor quality, so I felt inclined to write a response as this has not been my experience. Despite some of the negative reviews, I went ahead and bought the roof box and I’m glad I did.

Here’s why: I bought this box for a long winter excursion through tahoe, Denver, slc, and montana. I have a BMW X3 and it fits perfectly and allows the back gate to open without extending over the windshield.

I’ve driven it a few times to tahoe thus far and it’s held up very well. The case is not flimsy at all. It is a plastic shell, but it’s lightweight enough to carry off and install by myself (6 ft 180lb guy) which is a huge plus.

The interior roof rack latches are very easy to get on and positioning the box on the racks took <2 minutes. Total time to get it locked in place is five minutes from my garage. Capacity wise, the box easily fit two pairs of my 184cm skis, poles, two ski bags, and a few other things.

It could probably fit more as the space is massive inside. Closing the box was easy, you just can’t stuff the thing so full that you have to cram it. The locking mechanism exterior cover is plastic but the actual lock is metal.

It’s not the best in my opinion (the Yakima is better) however I never had any trouble unlocking / locking so long as the box was closed properly. Internally, the hinges are plastic however they felt very sturdy to me and they open from both sides fluidly.

During my trips, I’ve driven through rain and snow with this thing and no leaks thus far and the sound is pleasantly quiet even up to 80mph on the highway. I also really like the look of the box better in person, in my opinion it’s more sleek than the skybox and the matte black has an attractive carbon fiber look to it up close.

Overall, i wanted a budget workhorse box that also looks nice (don’t we all?) and the Thule has delivered. Also to note: the Thule force and Yakima skybox are both commonly carried at your local rei.

Go into the store if you want to compare the two. I think you’ll be happy with the Thule :).

I’ve used my Thule Force XT XL twice and on the third use one of the support hinges broke. This is a common problem based on reviews from several different sites. The worst thing is the part, has not been available from Thule for at least 6 months.

It is available at twice the price from e-trailer. I believe the springs in the hinges are too stif causing excessive side load on the hinge when closing. Most people probably try to. Lose the lis with 1 hand which causes either the front or the back hinge to bind and side load the hinge causing the plastic to fracture.

If someone in engineering from Thule would like to discuss this I’d be happy to help with a solution and test sample hinges. While waiting for a replacement hinge to be available from Thule I’m using a piece of wood to hold the lid open on the broken hinge end.

I do like the safety feature of the locking mechanism in that all three latches must engage before you can rotate the lock to the closed position and remove the key. I also agree with a previous post on the flimsiness of the lid and it has to be just right or you cannot lock it.

This is not a close with 1 hand operation. It must be closed using 2 hands to close the front and back of the lid evenly to permit the latches to engage in the locking mechanism to allow the lock to rotate closed and remove the key.

– Great REI customer service. – Happy with fit. I did have to *change the trunk opening angle slightly so the trunk spoiler wouldn’t hit the box. – Good cargo space *Changing trunk door distance – mount box first – open trunk little more than halfway – Single press the trunk close button on door to stop the door from opening (Not the lock button).

– fine tune opening distance by manually pushing up trunk door. I stopped it an inch before it hits the cargo box. – Press and hold the trunk close button for a few seconds until you hear beep and the lights flash to confirm the new trunk opening distance is set.

Cons – Mechanism that holds the hinge on passenger side popped off, appears to be a failed rivet. Reading reviews on various sites, seems like a common problem. Called customer service and sending replacement box to arrive in a few days.

– Expensive – Lid feels flimsy compared to my previously owned the Thule Motion XT L – Latch on one side of box needs a lot pressure to push open Generally happy with the box. Looks great and clears our low garage door opener.

At this price point for a brand new product, failed rivets this early on leaves little confidence that this box is made the long haul and that it won’t happen again in the near future which is my reason for the 3 stars.

Crossing my fingers. Hopefully I’ll be able to change the rating once the replacement arrives. 5 stars for REI!.

Disclaimer: You may have had an entirely different experience. This is purely mine, and note — I’ve had similar experiences with Yakima, as I did with Kuat. This review is less about the product, and really specific to the manufacturer, which these days is arguably — just as important when making a purchase IMO (…and with several other reviews on this site, and other sites).

So I recently purchased 3 new Thule Motion cargo boxes. As one might expect, just given the odds — all 3 boxes have different lock cores. Which also happen to be different than the 2 cores, I have on my Thule SUP rack.

Now this is where some might go, “well just purchase the other cores”, as was just told to me via one of the online Thule customer service chat members. And that is where, it becomes more challenging to support company’s like Thule.

After spending over $3000 with them, you’d think that they were willing to at least have some kind of exchange program. Something that says to their customers, “we appreciate your loyalty and supporting our Co.

through continued purchase of our products”. So just for clarity — let me offer up a totally different experience (also purchased from REI. ). 2 Summers ago, I purchase a Kuat bike rack. Months after the initial 2 bike purchase — I purchase the 2 bike add on ( it was back ordered due to COVID).

I call Kuat to ask them if I could get 2 locks for the new add-on, so that all cores are key’d alike. The customer service rep, immediately says, “let me get those out to you right away”. Boom! Great Customer service, and company support for their customers.

The cores get to me within days. All that to find out, that there was something wrong with the provided lock pulling key. Another quick call to Kuat, and she’s sending 2 entirely new – but key’d alike locking cable mechanisms.

For sure they didn’t need to go to that level, but for me, it speaks loud and clear, how a company chooses to do business, so that they can minimize the hassle for their customers. Again, to most this might not matter.

But as all the talk for the past few years, has been about customers supporting businesses, and shopping local, etc. my soapbox call still to this day, and maybe never stronger now is, when do these businesses start supporting the customers/markets they are asking to support them? Lame Thule, totally stinkin’ lame.

If only these other companies made better quality boxes. It’ll be interesting when Kuat starts making Boxes. I’m not sure if they ever will, but if they do… you can expect to see 3 Thule Motions for sale on some social media network.

I bought this for our 2018 Mazda CX-5. The L size was perfect for this small/medium SUV. The directions were a bit confusing on how to size it front to back, and where the Thule bars should go. I ended up just eyeballing the box / bars on the car.

The box was the perfect size inside to haul extra SUP gear and other camping gear up to camp this year. But after loading everything on, and. closing the latches (left, middle and right), the left latch just broke off.

As we were just leaving, I had to insert the latch part in order to lock the entire box. There is a fail safe method that if any of the latches are not secure, you can’t turn the lock. So I was able to just had fit the latch in even though now the left side (hence rear) was not secure.

This didn’t seem to be a problem, just made us nervous. I knew I would return to REI but they were out of stock and they were nice enough to say keeping use it till another comes into stock. The right one then broke on second trip.

Seems the latches are poorly attached to the cargo roof. Going to take it back and get a new one as I already bought the Thule crossbars, mounts and locks and am fully invested. Just make sure you test the latches ahead of the trip.

I have one of these roof top carriers and have really enjoyed it. Works great on my Subaru WRX to carry extra camping gear. Recently I was locking the box as normal and the key broke off in the lock.

I had packed the gear to return home so I figured I’d just leave it locked until I got home and could deal with it then. Once home I was unable to get the key out and wound up having to tear the lock mechanism apart to get the box open.

I contacted Thule “support” to see about getting new parts to fix the lock. Took a week but then they replied with “here’s a link to buy a new key”. I wrote back to re-explain” my problem and they replied with “yeah we don’t sell any parts like that.

Thanks. ” So here’s the bottom line- if you break Thules crappy key in the lock you are on your own so be careful. Or buy a box from another company.

Bought this enroute to a recent camping trip where our car was packed to the gills. Despite what other reviews say, this is incredibly easy to install – guessing Thule recently updated the attachment mechanism.

You run four “claws” through slots on the inside of the box, which then clamp onto your bars. To tighten them, you simply turn a knob on the top of each claw inside the box. I’d say it took about 90 seconds total to install.

It’s also very lightweight and easy to get onto your roof. The box is only 12″ tall and is pretty narrow, but it held a duffle bag, old school sleeping bag, three synthetic-down bags, two sleeping pads, two kids’ backpacks, and an inflatable mattress.

You can adjust the box forward or backward to fit your car. When mounted all the way forward on a Subaru Outback, the hatch could open without hitting the box.

I got this the Pulse M off REI in summer of 2020 when there wasn’t anything to do since everywhere was in lock down on a memorial day weekend sale and love it. I drive a 2018 limited impreza hatchback with the subaru crossbars and it fits the car very well, and looks great.

It nearly goes the width of the top of the car and still looks streamlined – I wouldn’t suggest going with a cargo box any bigger than this for a similar sized vehicle. We have used this a lot for out of state road trips mainly on weekends and holidays with 2-4 people and it stores a lot more stuff than you would think.

Even trips to Costco, it comes in handy for those big bulky paper products. I store it for the winter as we aren’t traveling as much during that time. Great box, never had any issues with it and stores a ton of stuff to leave room inside the car for coolers, food, bags with electronics, etc.

This is generally a solid item. Hardware is simple, but some parts are proprietary which can make replacement not as simple as a visit to the hardware store. A pretty solid rack. A) The fairing doesn’t sit completely flat.

Check out photos that aren’t ads & you’ll see it everywhere. B) Scratch-resistant is not scratch-proof, so inspect it. I’ve used this for boxes, gear, bags & duffels, and moving. It’s a workhorse, but a portion of the cost is the name.

It’s also gone from $300 to $350 to $370 in about four months, so, you know. wonder to what degree folks are asking “How much can we get people to pay for this?”.

The Thule basket arrived within a few days but I did pay extra for that. The main issue I had was the front and rear comes in two sections and because of this they didn’t line up properly. I had to put it in my Vice to bend the steel where it was supposed to be to fit it.

Now this was probably a manufacturing issue and not a summit racing mistake. I didn’t see any damage on the basket. But the pipes where not lining up. I would of sent it back but it was a gift with time constraints so I had to bend it myself.

I was able to bend it but in doing so I left a small dent in the rack from the Vice. But it looks great on our car and works perfectly.

First of all it looks amazing. High quality finish. Second of all it’s bigger than I thought which is a huge plus. I can fit a double stroller on top of my 2021 Subaru STI and some more. Because of this basket I don’t need to buy a larger car such as SUV or a wagon.

Also I want to mention that my basket is sitting on Thule Wingbars. Well done Thule.

I bought our Thule Force XT XL from REI. They installed both of the roof rails and showed me how to install the box. It fits a Subaru Ascent perfectly and has enough space for an Uppababy stroller, two scooters, and 2 carry-on size suitcases.

I’m 5’4″ and can open it and load it up while using the back passenger step tread. It’s about as easy to load up as it is to install a carseat lol, once you know what you’re doing it’s way easier but still slightly a PITA.

You do need to use two hands to open and close it, but it has never been an issue for us. I appreciate the key not coming out until everything is secure. While it feels “flimsy” if you don’t use two hands, it is just because it is so large and made of thin but incredibly durable plastic.

Using two hands to open and close it will also prevent the brackets from bending weird. We have had it loaded up in about every type of weather and it has remained dry inside. When it’s loaded up we stay under 70 mph, at 71 and beyond it whistles and you can feel a bit of pull.

Overall, my only issue with the box is that it seems like mold likes to grow inside. It has always been dry inside when I’ve checked on it, so I’m not sure why it is doing this. I’ll try grabbing one of the DampRid products to place in it to see if that helps.

I would’ve thought that it would be coated with something inside to prevent this and am a little disappointed that it’s not. I just leave mine on my vehicle since it fits inside my garage while attached.

My mpg is the same as without it.

I’m mainly writing this review as a counterbalance to the “poor” reviews I see on this site. Summary: No, this is not a poor product. It is an enormous and enormously useful piece of equipment. Complaints that it is flimsy miss the point.

If it were any more sturdy it would be enormously heavy. What’s more, the flexibility seems to be necessary given the buffeting the device must endure while in use. Yes, if you overfill it or if one item sticks up too high it can be challenging to get it closed, but you learn how to deal with this quickly.

My QX-56 luggage rack bars are very flexible and at first we had significant vibration at high speeds. I duct taped a few thick foam blocks in a few spots underneath my rack bars and the problem was solved.

One of my four clamps broke and the retailer happily replaced it at no cost. This product is not perfect, but it’s hard to argue with its overall usefulness. It’s also pretty good value for the money.

The storage capacity is great. The material is thin and light which is good for weight however the bottom has bowed a bit. Thule advertises a 5 yr warranty which is one reason we decided to purchase it over the other brands.

The side hinges are built to last and make opening/closing easy. You do have to assemble the unit which is not rocket-science but does require longer than expected time. Overall for the price and brand, it was a good purchase.

I do wish the top portion came in black to match the bottom and that the bottom was made of a more rigid material.

This is no better quality than any generic roof top box. You are definitely paying for the name. The connections to the rack are little more than bolts. the locks are cheap and the mechanism to prop up the top, always seems like it is on the verge of breaking.

For the price point this is a great purchase. It was field tested in a N. GA downpour, some under a eve so it was basically under a water fall and stayed dry. And very little water made in in when driving in rain.

A few drops may have been force in thru the clapming holes used and not plugged. I’m former military and I expect my gear to function and Thule has never dissappointed me. Summit prices and shipping is top shelf.

The product is well designed. It is a bit overpriced for what it is, but I do trust the quality of a heavy box hanging over my car. If you trust your own DIY skills (or can hire a pro), this is a good system to buy.

My garage ceiling is a little taller than normal. I have an older mid century house, so not quite consistent, modern specs on the stud spacing. That is the main issue with installation. As everyone on the internet says, the instructions are barely helpful.

The one thing that would really help is basic dimensions of the final layout. I searched everywhere online to get that ahead of time, but no luck. Roughly, it is 50 inches wide for the center support, and the total length between the 2 rows of pulleys are about 2 stud lengths at 35-ish inches.

It does include a cardboard template but hard to use when trying to measure on the ceiling. Why didn’t I do this on the ground first? Because I wasn’t exactly sure how my 2×4 support brackets would line up on the ceiling, so I had to get those on first.

Highly recommend mounting the hardware onto 2×4’s instead of directly on the ceiling. This gives some play when mounting the hardware because it will be difficult to get the somewhat wide holes directly onto the joists.

2×4’s on joists first, then hardware onto them. Recommend 3 – 5 foot 2×4’s horizontally mounted relative to the cargo box or whatever you’re lifting. I secured with 3 – 3/8x3in lag bolts, drilled flush into each 2×4.

Once those were in place, the components were secured with 1. 5in screws onto the 2×4’s. That was the easy part. Going back to the dimensions, I’m guessing they didn’t include exact dimensions of the wheel spacing because it’s a little flexible.

My installation isn’t exactly what the template suggested, because my studs wouldn’t line up exactly for it. They are a couple inches closer together. I have seen pics of installs where they mount onto 2×4’s that are vertically oriented compared to the box, but that would require 5 shorter 2×4’s to do that.

That’s an option. Overall, it was a PIA to install due to my unknown joist spacing, finding studs, height of ceiling, lack of dimensions that made pre-planning impossible. I had to make rough guesses looking at a lot of installation pictures.

My home issues are not really Thule’s fault, but they could make things a lot easier in a couple of ways: provide dimensions that can be found on the web, and make the hardware mounting a little more flexible with the mounting hole locations.

I. e. swivel wheels, multiple possible mounting holes in the hardware itself that can be used depending on your studs. If you don’t feel 100% comfortable DIY’ing this, it will probably take a professional a couple hours or more.

It took me much longer due to the challenges of my home and not being a professional, but at least I feel confident in the work. This is a really nice product, that I have confidence in for hanging over 50 lbs or more over my car.

The raising and lowering mechanism works really well. The cargo box is easily lowered right onto the top of my vehicle and installed. Only takes one person now. Not perfect due to previously mentioned installation challenges, and the included nylon rope is a little short.

My garage is a couple feet taller than most, but the rope is just enough to reach the top of my compact SUV with enough slack to remove the rope around the front and back of my cargo box. I will have to replace with a longer rope to mount on a shorter car.

The rope will not be long enough to lower all the way to the ground, even if you have a regular height garage. Also, it takes a bit of trial and error to get the rope level with the box. I will need to do some fine tuning, but it should be ok as long as it is “mostly” level.

There are significantly cheaper options on amazon, but they have their drawbacks. This will definitely be the smoothest, easiest mechanism once installed, but is it worth an additional $200 or so for that privilege? Depends on how often you use the lift and how much the convenience and quality matter to you.

I almost went with a cheaper option just for the simpler installation, but that comes with the drawback of a less secure mount IMHO. I have PTSD from the installation process, but I am enjoying the fruits of my labor now.

I bought this product to hold my Thule Cargo Box off the garage floor and have it store our camping equipment for a quick getaway. The installation instructions were clear and understandable. The install did require some DIY capability.

Unfortunately, the positioning of my garage ceiling 2x4s did not allow me to screw directly into them so I had to screw new 2x4s into the existing wood. Not a clean look, but hey, this is a garage. The pulley mechanism is a delight to operate, our cargo box raises and lowers with effortless smoothness.

One small critique – We are storing our camping gear in the box, but the weight and the cords of the box lift, distort the shape of the box. It requires two adults to close and lock the lid. No problem, just a minor inconvenience.

Very pleased with the end result. We just lower the box onto our vehicle and away we go. Takes all the effort out of packing for our camping trips and our box is stored off the floor and out of the way.

I’ve had Thule racks for 22+ years and picked this up for storing my Thule box in my garage. I’m beyond disappointed! If your studs don’t match up perfectly, you are limited by the width of the bar that winds the rope.

Since my pulley wheels had to be wider, the rope rollers didn’t work right and box lifted unevenly. Ultimately, I decided I didn’t trust the quality of the components and didn’t want to rely on it to dangle my box over my car.

Don’t buy it!.

I’ve used this cargo carrier one time. The second time I went to use it the light bulb was burnt out. It turns out you can’t replace just the bulb but instead the whole light assembly must be replaced.

Part TH05252. Unfortunately it seems nobody sells it. For $600 I got one use out of it. I can’t use it on my trip now. So frustrating.

Love it. No ladders to fill it. Wife and kids can pack car. No worry about parking garages. No wind noise, decreased fuel economy. No shoulder injuries putting it on the roof. Can easily open lift gate on Acura MDX and Subaru Outback.

Ingenious adapter for 1 1/4 or 2 inch hitched. Totally dry. You don’t need huge SUV on family trips. You can use 3rd row seat for kids and add this for luggage. Can use this and roof rack for long trips.

Its a great carrier. Used it for a couple of years now and love it. If your light goes out just look on local trailer store or Amazon for trailer light 45202. I just replaced the light after many years of usage and it worked great.

Its way cheaper then etrailer site.

The box is great. I went with a more premium model because I didn’t want the headaches of a cheap box that didn’t hold up to travel. There’s a “don’t surpass this speed” in the instructions, but even going 50-60 highway speed, the front nose of the box violently swings up and down and will make a huge thunk hitting your car or whatever its close to.

Yes, its installed correctly, but this box has a downward “dip” in its design that creates a lot of weird air turbulence and swings the box around.

After our first car camping trip with our toddler last year, a cargo box was high on our list since every bit of interior space was packed in Tetris style except for our 3 passenger seats to sit in. This box nicely holds all the camp chairs, sleeping bags and pads, tent, etc so that our cabin is clean and open again, with food and the cooler still in the trunk for easy access without having to unbury them!! Or being able to use that extra space to carry even more gear like our Burley bike trailer.

Should be useful in winter too come ski season. Very easy to install on our factory bars (2017 Mazda CX-5). According to all the measurements and fit guides, we should have only been able to fit the L size box, but this XL fits just fine without contacting the hatch due to the way the back angles up.

I bought it prepared to have to program the automatic lift gate to stop at a lower height, but to my surprise there’s just enough gap still so it can fully open. The overall styling is hard to beat (except for Thule’s Vector box, but that’s double the price…).

The gloss finish is easily smudged by fingerprints but let’s be honest: it’s a roof box that’s going to get covered in bug splats during use anyways. I do notice the additional wind noise while driving but it’s not awful.

I’ve had no issues with the durability of the material, but the REI staff member who helped me hoist it up at curbside did warn me to make sure one side of the box is FULLY latched before attempting to open the other side or it could crack, maybe that could explain some of the issues reported in previous reviews? Biggest negatives really are that it’s just a bit too tall for me to pull into the garage with it mounted so I have to remember to stop in the driveway, and we need to figure out a storage solution for the box when not in use, but neither of these is an issue with the box itself, just our own unique situation of house and vehicle.

Have had this now for over a year and love it. First had it on my wife’s Audi Q5 and will admit because of the length and the lack of adjustability of Audi crossbars, it forced us to limit the travel of the rear hatch which was a nuisance.

It is now on my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and fits perfectly – no interference with the hatch, or the sunroof. It is very spacious, long enough to fit Nordic skis (not all roof boxes are), looks sleek and it is aerodynamic – no wind noise, and no noticable impact on gas mileage.

Have used for skiing several times as well as for camping. When car camping it is great to have the extra space for gear. It is also very convenient that it can open from either side.

I picked this up at the REI Garage Sale for about 60% off the regular price. The box was brand new but was cracked on the back right of the lid. It was still a good deal and I was able to repair it with resin and fiberglass tape but having read reviews for the Motion XT L, it seems that these kinds of cracks are more common than they should be.

The Good: – The lock feature is great and opening is relatively easy from both side, although I often have to alternate lifting the front and rear of the box to get it to wiggle open. – Attaching this to the crossbars is very simple thanks to the twist knobs that click when they are properly tightened.

The Bad: – The rubber plugs that go into the metal grommets on the the lid. I’ve lost 5 of the 10 to wind from normal driving. Not sure if this makes it more prone to getting moisture inside, but I have to believe it does.

– There is a sliding plastic piece that the “Power Click Quick Mount System” attaches to that allows the mount to move forward and backwards to match up with your crossbars. This plastic pieces feels INCREDIBLY CHEAP AND FLIMSY.

I can’t believe that for $750 they couldn’t make this out of metal or something more durable. I am incredibly careful when removing the mounting system, but I can imagine the day will come when this cheap plastic breaks and I’ve got to make a warranty claim.

This is my first Thule roof box and while it seems to function well, it’s pretty disappointing how cheaply made it seems to be, especially if you paid full price.

I previously owned an Exodus 470L in gloss black, which looked really smart on the car, but in use it would get scratched and marked, then, after a period of time the film that gave the glossy black finish started to blister.

It looked a sorry state. I therefore decided when replacing it I’d look for something that avoided these problems. This fits the bill. It’s a Matt black finish, so matches the car, and does not show marks or blister.

It has the Thule clamps so is easy to fit, and opens both sides. It’s 450L and not 470L but I really haven’t noticed the difference. Yes. it’s more expensive but it’s a quality product.

Fab roofbox and bars- we found it easy to fit ourselves. Great service, paid for next day delivery – it took a bit longer (think that’s par for the course at the mo’)but came in plenty of time for our hol.

Really pleased with the box and the service from roof bars – wondering why we didn’t get one sooner, no more feet on bags in the back seat!.

I bought this a month ago for home delivery. It arrived within two days. It’s much easier and quicker to fit than u-bolt roof boxes. It’s big so you’ll likely need two of you to put on the roof. Looks smart, takes loads of stuff, haven’t noticed any additional wind noise when driving, very happy.

Is acceptable quality for the price. It could use to be a little thicker, And hold more capacity in terms of poundage. Regardless of what people say, assembly was not an issue it took about half an hour to 40 minutes with one person.

Is with 1 person.

You need the XL if you want to carry Nordic skis which are linger. I use this for winter gear – skis, poles, snow shoes and it works great. Think I have had as many as six pairs of skis in it. Also use it for car camping.

It is sleek, aerodynamic, looks good, easy to mount, and barely affects my MPG.

Short of storage space in our VW camper so went for this as a solution. Already had Thule Velospace bike rack and so this fits neatly on to it. It is a well designed and well made product like all the Thule stuff and we are pleased with the large volume of extra storage it gives.

Et bien 300l vous dépassez vite 30kgs si vous ne faites pas attention. J’ai pris le porte vélo 3 vélos en dessous, et non le 2. Attention aussi, vous ne pouvez pas mettre le coffre + 1 vélo. Quant à la qualité rien à redire.

Les joints du rabat semble ne pas trop aimer le soleil et se décollent un peu mais dans l’ensemble c’est solide. Ne prend pas trop trop de place pour le ranger car il se compresse sur sa hauteur. Mais pas sur sa largeur.

Pour ce qui est du vol: – 1 seul cadenas alors qu’il y a 4 attaches. Le cadenas est en plastique. Bref de vol très facilement. Il vaut mieux prévoir une chaîne qui entoure le coffre la nuit! – l’ouverture pour ne voler que l’intérieur ne se fera que si on force les 2 attaches de fermeture.

Mais idem elles sont en plastique. Vos biens ne sont donc vraiment pas protégés si vous laissez votre voiture sans surveillance. Pour conclure, je suis content de mon achat, car je reste persuadé que la concurrence est en dessous.

Mais prévoir une chaîne antivol assez longue pour cercler le tout si le coffre doit rester sans surveillance.
