15 Best Thumb Spica Splint (2022 Updated)

Well I must not of paid good enough attention bc I thought this brace had hard material on top and on bottom. But the straps are the only thing that goes across the top. Which works, the straps are soo long I have to figure a way to cut them down.

The brace is for my daughter. She’s able to wear the brace just fine and can still manage her forearm crutches with it on. The thumb spica is a little too big for her small hand but she’s still managing.

That’s the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Good product. Reliable company.

This splint is perfect for my husband. Very comfortable. He wears it every day so now we have two so that we can keep one clean at all times. Thank you

This braces stabilityoffers lots of support. However, the design is so poor it also causes more discomfort. The metal stabilizer is bent in the wrong place. Even taking it out doesn’t help because where the thumb is sewn onto the main part of the brace, there is a lump of material pressing quite painfully on the base of the thumb.

As a result, I can not use this brace and will be returning it immediately.

I had bought one before when I broke my left wrist and it gave me the support that I needed during the healing period. So when I pulled the ligaments on my right wrist, I bought another one because again, it gives you the support that is needed.

I had read reviews that the seams on the ends of the pockets where the metal stabilizer bar goes, begins to fray or tear. I wore my first one for 6 weeks and it is still in good shape. I guess it depends on how you much care and use you give the brace.

My orthopedic doctor said that is was a good as what he could have sold me and to continue wearing it.

I’ve owned several, for both wrists. The straps on this one are just a little different; but there is something that irritates my thumb on the inside. Not a deal-breaker, bur I’ve noticed it. The price is good, definitely in line with what I’ve been paying here or on Amazon.

I have been handicapped for nearly 25 years, with issues from previous surgeries & I must use Canadian crutches while walking outside. In effect, I walk with my hands. Because of this repeated pressure, over such a long time span & without a brace, it has resulted in lasting damage to the connections in my thumb/wrist & causes debilitating pain.

While using this brace, the pain is diminished tremendously! While the way that they have configured this brace is vastly superior to all others that I have used over the past 25 years, it could be improved upon by extending the metal stay, along the outside of the thumb & ensuring that the thumb is rigid and not permitted to be pushed outward.

I simply could not navigate the outside world without the use of this product. Thank you Bracability!.

My mom has arthritis in her thumbs that lead into her wrists and goes up her arms. (I have the same problem but not as bad as my mom). While receiving her 2nd injection in her right wrist, the surgeon was discussing the surgery she needs.

She responded with a loud “Absolutely Not!” So, the surgeon asked if she was at least using the thumb/wrist brace he had fitted her for. She replied by sharing that her daughter had actually purchased her braces that go up the arms a bit and make her feel much better than what he had her buy.

He wanted to know the name. Mom said, “BraceAbility. ” The surgeon told his nurse to write that down! He’s going to check them out and recommend them to other patients! Mom and I both prefer BraceAbility!!!.

I purchased the Right Large brace on Amazon, and I love it so much I ordered a second one. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and wrist tendonitis. The carpal tunnel isn’t painful (yet), but I do have numbness in my middle and index fingers.

The wrist tendonitis is the one that is painful. I got a brace from the orthopedist that specializes in nerves; he’s the one that diagnosed the carpal tunnel syndrome via EMG. He also diagnosed the wrist tendonitis and referred me to the hand orthopedist for both conditions.

I hated the brace from the doctor’s office. And of course it cost almost 4x what this one cost. I got one of the BraceAbility braces as a back up, and as much as one can love a brace, I love this one.

It’s cushioned, it doesn’t make my arm itchy, and it fits my chunky arm. It has a bar on the outside of the brace that helps to further immobilize my wrist. I’m able to move the top knuckle of my thumb, so I’m able to grasp things without further hurting myself.

I’ll be honest, I don’t see much improvement for the carpal tunnel syndrome unless I’m actively pressing down on something. But the tendonitis pain is much relieved while I’m wearing the brace.

I’ve been wearing this for about two weeks. It’s comfortable and very secure for the wrist and thumb. It fits very well but not absolutely perfectly — what you get from manufacturing a few sizes instead of custom fitting each one by hand.

In theory the removable metal supports are adjustable but I couldn’t adjust them without two good hands. One strip of velcro has barely begun to fray. I will put a halt to that with seam sealer or a spot of glue.

Other than that it looks and feels as it did when new except for the lint that has collected on exposed velcro. If I had to buy a brace again for the same condition, I would buy this one without a second thought.

Plus the Ortho Bracing guy is friendly, considerate, and efficient.

This is a great brace and very supportive. It is comfortable. You movement is restricted as is intended. You have very little movement of the thumb and wrist. It truly feels like a partial removable cast.

I did not give it 5 stars because I have been having some numbness and tingling in my thumb since I started using it. I suspect the metal making it sturdy is irritating a nerve, but the pain of the tendinitis is worse, so I will take the other for now.

Just hoping I am not doing any permanent damage.

Does the job but is poorly made. The thumb spica has a big piece of fabric that pushes and irritates your hand and the metal support running up the arm through the palm came apart and the metal slid out after only 5 days.

Had to fix myself to put it back and make it usable, would not get this version again.

My thermoskin Carpal Tunnel Brace, is the second one I purchased. It’s gives me extra wrist support, needed while bowling. I still have the older one, used for outdoor work, giving my wrist support, when using heavy items, such as chainsaws.

I couldn’t enjoy these functions, without the carpal tunnel brace w/dorsal support.

Excellent quality, I now have one for each hand. Very comfortable, relives the pain in my had. Soft to wear.

Stabilizes the thumb well. The wrist brace is a bonus.

Its very good…does the job but wish it had a adjustment for the thumb.

Not a sauce. It is a brace for the wrist and thumb. It is excellent for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis. I have used other brands, but they don’t fit so well. Ossur is the best, it match perfectly the shape of my hand with firm but comfortable support, protecting the joint an relieving pain.

I don’t like the way it fits; it is uncomfortable.

Great fit and product! Will purchase again when I replace them.

I have been using an old version for a number of years. My version has a fabric extension attached to the housing with the plastic eyelets attached to it. When the straps are tighten it makes for a better more secure tie down.

The manufacturing savings would have been peanuts. The designer needs to look for another job!.

I have osteo arthritis in my thumb basil joints and weak wrists. When I have a flare, I put these on 24/7 and my pain goes away quickly. Sometimes I go months now without pain till I hurt myself again.

I have several sets of these, and use my old ones for work and the new clean ones for inside. I thought I would have to have surgery 10 years ago, but by taking care of my self and using these braces, I feel great and have no plans do surgery.

I’m working smarter, I wore them today when I mowed the lawn. No pain then and no pain now. Yippee. Will buy another set when these are worn out, but they last for years. Quality Product.

Purchased both right and left hand braces as a remedy for carpal tunnel syndrome at the recommendation of my physician. The braces are well-made and fairly comfortable, even when sleeping.

This is a terribly designed product. Instructions don’t make sense and straps are too short to use. To make matters worse, since it’s a strap, it’s not returnable for a refund. Do not purchase this item.

It is useless due to probably being made in China. Horrible design!.

I have fairly slender wrists for the size of my hands which makes finding a comfortable wrist splint difficult. This is by far the best one that I have tried yet. The velcro on top makes adjusting it to fit my hand really easy.

I did have to cut the loop on the right side (using on the right hand) because it was too tight on my hand. However I only use this for my right hand, not my left so this is not a problem for me. Also I doubt many will have this problem as most people with hands as wide as mine will also have wide wrists, and thus buy a larger size.

Offered for sale as “one size fits all”. In fact, there are 4 sizes for the product, ranging from S to XL. Received size S, which is worthless for my XL body. Product did appear to be well designed and built, and likely would perform well for a horse racing jockey.

Just enough compression. Not too tight. Great for either hand. Good finger dexterity. Can still use my hands and fingers. Easy to adjust. Great price and no shipping charges.

Easy peasy. Unfortunately my Lab/Golden decided to chew the first one. Found your on line site, placed the order and your order came within a few days. I’ll be sure to keep the new one up higher.

My husband has two braces – one he likes and one he absolutely does not like. We ordered this so he could have a spare of the one he likes. There is something about the thumb area that makes this one much more comfortable (than the other one).

The brace seems like it’s well made. It provides support for my wrist, plus it’s easy for me to put on and take off. It was prescribed by my Neurologist for night time use to help my carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).

Pretty good V-nails. The tool for installing them was way, way back ordered. Still haven’t received it a few weeks after the nails arrived. Meanwhile, I’ve made over a dozen frames to hold various photos that I print at home.

I put two V-nails in each miter corner and they work just fine. Used a needle nose pliers to hold them steady before rapping them with a regular carpentry hammer. One rap seats them; remove the pliers and then drive them home.

All the frames have stayed perfectly square and solid. My frames were about 7/8 inch wide — pretty narrow, so there’s not much glue surface. The V-nails lock everything in place! Much easier than having to spline my miters.

Not Happy with product. Even with the proper fit. The strings on the lacer seem to cut into my wrist. And I can’t it wear without pain. Poor design. They must not have tried it on. Because it’s a real obvious flaw.

Just wear it a while. Oh ya and the thumb thing could be made more comfortable as well, besides the Velcro not being long enough on the thumb, very irritatingOn the other hand, lol. It appears the Velcro ones may be more comfortable.

And produce a better outcomes. Not sure didn’t try yet. May try another brand given the poor thought put into thier Lacers.

My doctor fit me for this after surgery. Much easier to wear than a cast. My only concern was that looked like it was opened and tried on I wasnt put back together right. Aside from that it looked new.

I experienced a 30% pain reduction in my level 3 arthritic thumb by wearing this to bed for 3 weeks. It is light weight, comfortable, and cool.

DME had the Thumb-O-Prene at the best price and actually physically had it in stock unlike others online. I called them up to make sure as well. The brace is very comfortable and totally adjustable – worth every penny.

This splint was recommended by my doctor for arthritis in my right Thumb CMC joint. I purchased a ladies medium based upon my hand measurement. It is somewhat difficult to connect the velcro at the back of my hand.

The two sides just barely meet. I stretched it out, which helped a bit, but am still having some difficulty. So, it works, but could be more generously sized. Other than that, it is okay.

My hand specialist provided my first one numerous years ago, and it’s only just worn out, so I’m about to order my second one. This thing really WORKS. I have considerable CMC pain without it, and was facing having to give up gardening, fishing and even reading hardback books.

The brace has made a HUGE difference, and it’s certainly lasted well. Just don’t wash it in the machine or put it in a dryer, and do make sure you have the right size to begin with; this isn’t the place for vanity about your ladylike little (or big manly) hands.

This is the same brace I got from the physical therapist after I broke my thumb. It restricts my thumb’s movements but gives me full finger motion at the same time. They start out very very tight, but after a day’s wear they stretch out so I would suggest buying them small.
