20 Best Thunderbolt 3 Laptop (2022 Updated)

Great hardware specs. Plenty of power and battery life for everyday tasks and then some. The only thing holding this laptop back is the poorly designed keyboard (which was fixed in the most recent iteration of this device).

I had to relearn how to type certain characters due to the right shift key being miniature sized. If you’re connecting an external keyboard, this is a non-issue.

This laptop is pretty amazing. Compact and full power house. I haven’t played heavy games but ran lol spec games like team fortress 2, cs, lol ran smoothly. I mostly need it for my professional work.

No scratches what so ever. Delivery was fast. Happy with this purchase.

I got this as a birthday present and my, its been the best system so far. It lives up to Razers amazing quality standards – I have had no issues with it so far Design wise its one of the sleekest best looking laptops on the market IMO.

If you want a powerful gaming laptop or a laptop for work this is the one that stands out to me! Thanks Razer! :D.

there was a dead pixel and the battery life is terrible, but overall it’s pretty nice and the construction and operation of keyboard & mouse is second to none. but most nice laptops have the nice keyboards.

The screen is ok I got the touch screen which I like but it’s only 60hz, wish I would have gotten the 300hz. Overall I’d give it a A minus.

Excellent kit. Both the mod and tank have performed flawlessly. Only con I think of for the Aegis is that the silicone outer shell makes it difficult to insert and remove from pockets as it catches on the material.

The only cons I have for the Aeromesh tank are that the top cap is difficult to remove sometimes without accidentally unscrewing the coil and that the coil had unpleasant taste for the first fill. Perfectly fine afterwards.

I would highly recommend this kit to both new and experienced vapers.

If you are looking for a great productivity laptop that travels well, then you should consider the Dell XPS 13. This laptop is very lightweight, but packs plenty of computing power and battery life into its stylish and well designed chassis.

The edge to edge screen makes this laptop feel bigger than others in its class. This laptop’s crisp 4k display is bright and responsive and offers a touch screen with multiple gestures. It has a decent trackpad supporting multiple gestures, but to save space does not use separate physical buttons for the right and left mouse buttons.

The Thunderbolt port and USB 3 ports allow for expansion and combined with KVM setup enable this laptop to be a an excellent office desktop replacement. This has plenty of oomph for productivity apps, entertainment and some games.

The integrated graphics card will not be the best choice for CAD or advanced 3D games. The condition of this refurbished laptop was more than acceptable. I found no faults with the screen, keyboard or trackpad.

The case was structurally sound and had no major scratches or wear. For the savings over retail, it is worth considering this refurbished laptop.

This review was for another similar model of this laptop that is no longer available here on Best Buy Marketplace. The laptop is amazing. I have had it for roughly a month now and I love it. It’s small, thin, and compact, making it super portable and convenient to carry around.

Essentially, the machine is just as advertised: excellent. The only reason why this is not a perfect rating is because of a minor defect, and the extra hassle I had to go through because of it. I was very happy with the machine until I tried the audio port, which was unfortunately unfunctional.

I emailed DCR about this and they offered me a solution hassle free. I needed this laptop for school and could not return it before the replacement arrives, so they shipped me a replacement without requiring me to ship the original back first.

That made it very convenient for me. They covered all the shipping as well. All in all, I think this is a great buy for the value and customer service. I will definitely recommend!.

Got this laptop as a college student several years ago. I wish I could say better things. When it worked it was great, but the hard drive crashed twice, basically every two years since I got it. The headphone jack only worked for about a year then just stopped.

The keyboard is also not great, really thin and hard to press sometimes. Horrible camera placement, makes zoom calls awkward. Overall just wouldn’t recommend this version of the XPS.

Globalement je suis très contente de mon achat, je voulais un ordinateur pour faire de la 2D et rendus 3D sur skechup, avec une carte graphique comme ça c’est parfait! Seul point à revoir pour moi c’est rajouter une explication claire et complète de l’utilisation du screenpad.

J’ai passé 2h à chercher comment travailler sur le grand écran et laisser une vidéo tourner sur le petit par exemple. Si vous êtes en galère avec le mode affichage d’extensions, penser simplement à ça: quand ce mode est activé, c’est comme si vous aviez un double écran, il faut basculer la souris vers le bas pour contrôler l’écran du bas, et vers le haut pour contrôler l’écran du haut.

J’ai remarqué aussi qu’il se met rapidement à souffler (fort) lorsqu’on lui demande du travail. Par contre, le son est juste Génial. Globalement c’est un régal de travailler avec cet ordinateur!.

Très bon PC, très performant dans sa version Intel® Core™ i7-8750H avec SSD 512 Gb et 16 Gb de RAM. L’écran tactile est un plus. Le screenpad, dont on doute de l’utilité au départ, devient rapidement un plus, un launcher supplémentaire, un pavé numérique, une calculatrice mais aussi un deuxième écran pour avoir un deuxième bureau, plus petit certe, parfois utile.

Ce screenpad bénéficie de plusieurs possibilités d’applications supplémentaires. La question est maintenant que faire quand je ne l’aurai plus. Dans cette version le PC permet d’exploiter également des jeux.

Cette puissance à néanmoins un coût énergétique, la batterie dure moins longtemps surtout avec des jeux.

IšverstiShow in original languageEin wundervolles “MacBook-pro”! Hatte zuvor eins von 2018 getestet, da dort aber noch die Butterfly Tastatur verbaut wurde, habe ich doch noch etwas Geld “draufgelegt” und mir dieses hier von 2020 bestellt.

Das werde ich auch behalten. Schwierig war das Aufspielen per Migrationsassistent und letztendlich musste ich es nach drei Fehlversuchen dann auch dort abbrechen und per Time Machine auffüllen. Warum? Weiß ich nicht! Das Macbook pro von 2018 hat bei der Migration keine Probleme bereitet.

Nun ist es aber komplett bespielt und ich erfreue mich an dem absolut tollen Gerät! Mein Sohn schlägt wie immer beim Kauf von Apple Produkten die Hände über dem Kopf zusammen, und sagt, dass er für den Preis einen “Hammer” außerhalb von Apple bekommen würde.

So ist das nun mal. Man will Apple? Dann muss man es auch bezahlen 🙂 Ich bin topp zufrieden. Das Gerät kam in der Originalverpackung an mit originalem Ladekabel. Das ist meiner Meinung nach bei der Kategorie “wie neu” und “sehr gut” eine Grundvoraussetzung! Keinerlei Gebrauchsspuren und wirklich ein großartiges Gerät.

Freue mich sehr darüber! Rebuy liebe ich, wenn auch im Kundenkontakt und Entgegenkommen bei Anfragen in Zukunft noch zum Kunden hin justiert werden muss. Da ist noch jede Menge Luft nach oben. Die Antworten laufen schleppend und ohne jeden Kompromiss am Kunden! Das geht heutzutage nicht mehr.

Da muss mehr Entgegenkommen und schnellerer Kontakt hinein, liebes Team! Ich kaufe meine Technik fast ausschließlich hier und kann trotz der Mankos eine klare Empfehlung ausgeben. Falls man ein Gerät nicht möchte, kann man es ja innerhalb von 21 Tagen mit Rückerstattung per Geld oder auch per Gutschrift zurücksenden.

Daher gibt es absolut kein Risiko! Auch hatte ich schon einen Garantiefall, der problemlos bearbeitet wurde. Klares “Daumen hoch” für dieses Unternehmen und seine Ware! Aber bitte denkt mal über eure Schnittstelle zum Kunden nach.

IšverstiShow in original languageIch habe mir vor ein paar Monaten ein iPhone gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden damit. Da mein altes Notebook den Geist aufgegeben hat dachte ich … Versuch ich jetzt mal das MacBook.

Es ist einfach nur enttäuschend langsam … mein altes Notebook, das immerhin 5 Jahre alt war mit einer neuen SSD war wesentlich schneller. Das MacBook hat nur 4 USB C Anschlüsse, weshalb man für alles einen Adapter brauch … was es noch langsamer macht.

Und das ach so reibungslose Zusammenspiel von Apple Geräten… nach meiner Erfahrung auch nur ein Gerücht. Mein altes Samsung hat besser mit meinen Windows PC gearbeitet als das MacBook mit dem iPhone.

Es ist nicht möglich Daten vom iPhone wie Hörbücher etc. auf das MacBook zu übertragen … eine Synchronisation ist nur anders herum möglich. Selbst der Datentransfer von meinem iPhone zu meinem Windows PC hat besser funktioniert! Für den Preis bekomme ich einen weit aus besseren und auch größeren Windows PC mit mehr Abschlüssen.

Das MacBook geht definitiv zurück. Schade.

IšverstiShow in original languageLe titre résume ma pensée concernant ce magnifique ultra portable. Simplement parfait. Tout d’abord, première impression, le déballage. Le packaging impressionne (pas forcément important mais ça mérite d’être souligné).

Le portable est bien protégé dans ce bel emballage blanc. Le chargeur usbc corrige un problème rencontré sur mon mac précédent (possibilité de remplacer uniquement le câble) c’est toujours un plus et ça donne confiance par rapport à la durabilité du chargeur (ancien chargeur magsafe remplacé au prix fort).

Design de la bécane magnifique, ordinateur extrêmement léger et finition irréprochable. Branchement et premier allumage et la, effet Wahouh garanti. La rapidité de l’allumage et la réactivité de la bête est incroyable (à ce prix vous me direz que c’est la moindre des choses).

Après la première configuration effectuée, utilisation de la machine et venant d’un MacBook Pro unibody early 2011, quel différence. Rapidité, réactivité, puissance, simplement génial et tellement agréable.

Testé également avec quelques jeux plus anciens (total War shogun II, Divinity I et II,. ) ça tourne plus tôt pas mal par contre n’espérer pas faire tourner les jeux gourmand récent (sauf si gpu externe).

macOS Catalina est (d’après moi) très agréable et fluide, le tout en étant très intuitif. Le capteur touchID est un véritable plaisir pour le déverrouillage ainsi que l’entrée de mot de passe. La Touch Bar bien qu’un peu gadget est sympa (mais nécessite un temps d’adaptation).

En résumé foncez. Concernant le prix que certains pourraient trouvé élevé par rapport à un pc sous Windows, comparez ce qui est comparable. Un ultra-portable haut de gamme sous Windows à finition équivalente n’est pas beaucoup moins cher (coucou DELL XPS 13).

Really disappointed in Walmart and Front Source Technologies. I ordered a Dell 7390 2 in 1 laptop and what Front Source Technologies sent me was a REFURBISHED 7490. Not only did they send me a machine I did not order, but they sent me a refurbished one in horrible packaging! They sent me a $1300 computer in a standard USPS box with only a few packing peanuts surrounding it.

I was shocked that they would package it so terribly and also that they would send me a flat out wrong machine. I ordered the 2 in 1 functionality for a reason. If they didn’t have a 7390 2 in 1 like they advertise on Walmart’s site, they should have contacted me via email or phone to let me know, but they chose to waste all of our times and money with a different machine.

So I called Walmart about returning it and they said no problem, just take it to your local store and they will ship it. I took it to my local Walmart and they said I had to package it first. What??!! I was not told that.

It was still in the original boxing (USPS BOX) from how it was shipped to me, but the box was torn so they insisted I package it first. One, I was never told I had to do that, I was told just bring it back and they will return it and two, I have NEVER in my life had to box something up myself when returning to Walmart.

So I ended up shipping it myself after obtaining an RMA number online. I packaged it in an extra solid box and kept it in it’s original box as well, much better packaging then when I received it. So watch who you purchase from through Walmart, they might try to do a bait and switch like they did with me.

I use the same laptop at work and it was no brainer to buy the same for personal use. Although I bought a refurbished one it was as new and costed 70% less than a new one would cost from Dell directly.

Highly Recommended.

The fully charged Battery on this particular laptop goes to 1% after 5 minutes of use.

Upgraded to this Thinkpad T14S with AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD from a 12-year-old Thinkpad Edge that served me very well with a couple upgrades but has finally reached its limit. I’ve had this computer for a couple weeks and here are my initial impressions: Summary: Excellent computer and great user experience except for bloatware and Microsoft pushing its products in a way that makes setup a bit of a pain if you want to get rid of that stuff.

If I could give half stars it would be 4. 5. Pros: –Snappy, light, quiet, thin. Build quality is excellent. –Easy/intuitive bluetooth pairing (coming from a much older computer I appreciated this) –Useful selection of ports despite being thin and light, dongle isn’t 100% necessary.

–Privacy features (privacy screen guard, fingerprint reader, camera privacy features when not in use) are excellent. –Love the experience using a ThinkPad, and the keyboard (though my old Edge has slightly more key travel and I actually find it just a little easier to use.

Maybe that’s from 12 years of being used to it. ) Cons: –Microsoft/Lenovo bloatware that comes installed is a bummer. It meant setting this computer up took me a while. I removed a bunch, then the fingerprint reader started not working, so I created a restore point, went back, and removed things slightly more selectively.

Windows REALLY pushes Microsoft Edge and there are some programs that they make it really difficult to uninstall for the average user without using Powershell. This is the reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5.

–On 1-2 occasioins my mouse said it was connected but wouldn’t work (tried turning off and on, etc) and when my fingerprint reader wasn’t working and forced me to enter pin instead, but restarting the computer solved both problems.

–Difficult to upgrade this computer compared to L series or my old Thinkpad Edge, which is why I tried to buy with as much RAM as possible. Overall these cons are pretty minor, and time will tell if this computer is future-proofed enough to last another 12 years like my last one.

Got a good deal on this around the holidays and am excited to use it!.

The build quality is fantastic and the keyboard and trackpad+trackpoint are all up to the standards I expect of Lenovo. The battery life is great, able to last unplugged for a full work day while listening to music or having videos on in the background while working in Word or Excel.

I have no issue with the hardware or other physical components. The reason for 4 stars relates to software. When I first received the laptop, the sound kept popping and crackling while watching videos or listing to music when on battery power.

I had to spend three days troubleshooting the issue. I finally discovered that the issue related to Power Saving settings that you cannot change unless you edit the Windows registry to make them visible.

Specifically, I had to make power settings for the Wireless Adapter visible in the Registry Editor by creating a DWORD value named attributes under a certain registry key related to power settings and set the value to 2 (hexadecimal).

I could then go into advanced power settings and change the Wireless Adapter from Balanced to Maximum Performance. This was the only thing that fixed my issue. I don’t know if this was a Lenovo issue or a Windows issue, but it nevertheless negatively affected my use of the laptop upon receiving it.

The change did not even affect battery life so I am not sure why they would limit power to the adapter. If none of that made sense and you are sensitive to sound, I would look elsewhere. If you are capable of fixing the issue in this way or can wait for new drivers, a Windows Update, or a Lenovo BIOS update, this is a fantastic little laptop perfect for professional work.

After buying into the hype over the Mac M1, I finally switched back to the T14s (AMD 5850U/32GB) and it was a very refreshing return to windows. The primary problems I was having on the Mac M1 16GB was that MacOS on a laptop is quirky with all the extra key presses and most importantly, I work with very large spreadsheets in Excel and the Mac M1 would lurch and pause, basically choking on large spreadsheets — using native M1 excel.

On the T14s, I can work on multiple large spreadsheets and the system never halts or stutters or chokes on anything I’ve thrown at it. In fact, as I write this, I have two very large excel docs open and 5 or 6 smaller ones and the system is only using 9GB of RAM and works flawlessly — I could have easily gotten away with less RAM except that I use R and it’s a memory pig.

The T14s build quality is top notch and has a solid feel while still managing to be light and portable. I do have one challenge. The usb-c display port will not drive my LG monitor, even in the lower 4k resolution.

Every other laptop I’ve tried, including the Mac, works flawlessly with the monitor. I’ve ordered a ThinkPad ultra docking station to drive my multi monitor setup 4k and 5k, so we’ll see if that fixes the issue.

Things I would prefer? I would prefer a 3:2 or even 16:10 aspect ration for a business/professional laptop. Hopefully the era of 16:9 business laptops is coming to an end. The sound quality of the audio is way below that of the Mac, but not a huge deal for me, I’m not using it as an entertainment laptop, but honestly, just a little effort in the sound would be appreciated just the same.

The trackpad is a far cry from the mac trackpad.

was a little skeptic of the keyboard since I also use a retina macbook 12. Now after using the new 15 macbook pro for a few weeks, every time I go back to the flat keyboard of the rMB12, it feels awkward.

The keyboard on the new macbook pros are definitely superior to those found on earlier retina macbooks. Other than the good keyboard both the performance, screen quality and the battery longevity are the strong points for Apple’s flagship laptop.

I am getting around 8-9 hours on 40-50% sreen brightness. I have learned the hard way that the screen brightness is the ultimate battery killer, since I simply can not run the CPU more than 10% (even if I run multiple browser tabs and browsers, mail app and watch videos at the same time – although no rendering or cpu demanding tasks, watching video on browser or video conferencing were quite hard on the rMB12), if I run the screen with 90-100% brightness I get around 4-5 hours runtime.

Since 50% is more than enough for a satisfactory screen experience, I will give this macbook 5 stars for Apple’s engineering requirements of making the laptop lighter by putting a ~75% smaller battery than the older rMBP15, and the other 5 stars goes to intel’s energy efficient but powerful 7th gen quad core cpu.

To sum it up 2017 MBP15 is the way to go if do not have very strict backpack/carry on choices that pushes you towards MBP13. I am happy with both of my choices and will be upgrading when the time comes both MB12 as an always with me and MBP15 as the ultimate workhorse all round laptop.

Both worth the money and highly recommended.

This is a beautiful laptop with very reliable build quality. It’s battery life is enough for general purpose computing throughout the day. The fan is silent and inactive most of the time. The system speed is very fast and can be upgraded to newer versions of macosx.

The aluminum chasis, thin profile, and lightweight make it VERY convenient to carry around and travel. Windows 7, 8, 10 can be installed via boot camp. It’s keyboard is back-lit, and it’s on board memory and drive can be upgraded for more capacity to future proof the system.

It is very reliable and doesn’t lag. Menus respond instantly. Wifi and Bluetooth have Amazing range, and can reach wireless access points regular laptops can’t. There’s a magnetic charging cable, so if you accidentally tugged on the wire it won’t pull the laptop off the table.

There’s a variety of input ports such as USB, dvi, thunderbolt, etc. The microphone grill is cleverly hidden and you won’t even know it has a microphone. The webcam has acceptable image quality, and frame rates are smooth.

If you install windows, you have the best of both worlds with a dual booting macosx and windows device. mav.

Exreamly Powerful and Amazing performance, Excellent performance for 4K/8K photo video editng. Best screen on a laptop ever found. Great selection of multiple ports for seamless connectivity. Amazing sound.

Remarkably power efficent even on battery with extended battery life on single charge. Amazing Fast charging up to 50% in 30 minutes. Apple happens to be one of my favorite brand. especially when it comes to their laptops, this laptop happens to be one of the best ones I’ve ever used when it comes to their display it is #1 in it’s class.

Also comes with a substantial amount of memory for whatever the need may be. They are the leading brand for many electronics and hands down the most recommended tech that I would suggest anyone to buy.

Yes they’re kind of pricey but you get what you pay for if you want a quality product I would definitely go with Apple.

This T15G Gen 2 is a beast, as other reviewers have said. Yes, it’s big, heavy, power-hungry, and expensive, but I haven’t come across anything this thing can’t do yet. The display (4K LCD on mine, non-touch) is very sharp, colors are great, and it has a fantastic range of brightness settings.

Keyboard is fantastic, it’s a ThinkPad, after all. TrackPoint works great, trackpad works well too, although I admit when sitting next to someone with a 16″ MacBook Pro whose trackpad is 3x the size, there is a little to be desired there.

Performance is great, runs pretty much everything. The fans are loud when it’s working, but I was impressed by how quiet it is when it’s not doing anything intense. The battery life isn’t great, it’s a big computer with a big screen and a lot of processing power, but again, I am somewhat impressed.

I can get about an hour under full load on battery, and if I’m just browsing, typing, or watching a show, it’ll do 6-7 hours, which is plenty long for me. It also charges exceptionally quickly. Something I didn’t expect to like that has been really cool- the IR camera and the Glance software on this is awesome.

It’s really nice to have the computer lock when I leave, blur the screen if someone is behind me, etc. That said, I do really wish the main camera was 1080p, not 720p. Downsides or quirks I’ve noticed so far: One thing that’s a little strange is the laptop is a little slow to turn on.

Not boot up or wake up, but there’s a couple-second delay between when the power button is pressed or the lid is opened and when the computer comes to life. Not a big deal, but a little strange at first.

The charger- it is big, the cable is thick, and it probably weighs more than an entire MacBook Air. Not ideal, but considering it’s 230W, it’s pretty compact. Keyboard backlighting- it works great, but it defaults to being off regardless of whether it was on when the system was last on, which sometimes makes for some fumbling to turn it on in the dark.

All in all, I really recommend this. A couple weird quirks but really nice overall.

I’ve had this computer for about 1. 5 years. Numerous issues to the point it’s ridiculous. No option to review on Dell – read the blogs, Dell doesn’t give you the option to leave reviews unless you’re selectively “invited”.

Note: I use my computer to browse the internet, listen to Spotify, and move numbers around in excel. No gaming, no streaming, no downloading, no graphics/arts programs. I have antivirus software. I do all the recommended updates regularly.

Here we go. (1) Upon receiving the computer I noticed it had a weird screen glitch where a square corner section would briefly flash a different color. After trying several things and nothing working, Dell support gave me a long and very meticulous list of steps to go through to completely clear the computer (essentially turning it back into a brick) then reinstalling the entire system from a USB drive to turn it back into a useable computer.

this process was something a tech should do, not a customer. Why wasn’t this fixed before sending to computer out?? This issue is ongoing. (2) Charging port – broke after 8 months. I am careful to protect my laptop and charger from damage.

The service tech that helped me said “I see this all the time. It breaks with repeated plugging and unplugging” YOU MEAN NORMAL LAPTOP USE??? The charging port, charger cord, motherboard, AND battery all had to be replaced because the port breaking short circuited and ruined all the above listed components.

Thankfully Dell replaced everything right before my 1 year warranty ran out. Repeated delays/issues with getting parts and service. (3) Blue screen of death – has happened multiple times randomly and for no apparent reason.

Sometimes it restarts pretty quickly, sometimes it takes multiple attempts. (4) Aux port – broke 2 months after my 1 year warranty expired so there’s nothing I can do. Total trash. Overall issues with sound including getting computer to register Bluetooth headphones and audio on zoom.

(5) Curser – So. Very. Buggy. UGH! Even with constantly do the driver updates and everything else my cursor will just freeze or pause and then jump across the screen then freeze again. Had to buy a usb plug-in mouse.

(5) Brightness increase/decrease control – randomly stops working both on the keyboard and in the system settings. It will get stuck on full bright and I have to restart computer to fix it. (6) Dell customer service – it’s pretty bad even with warranty.

It was awesome that they fixed my charging issue and replaced all the items free of charge. But it took SO LONG and multiple attempts to get someone to help me. I would get “transferred to a specialist” and wait for hours with no response.

I would eventually exit and restart, re-explain my issue/s, and wait again. This is my third Dell laptop over the last 14 years. After this one I’m done with Dell.

At the moment, everything works fine. I just sometimes get little panic attacks, because I looked up the computer many times before buying it. The most known issue: Thermal paste replacement. I doubt that I have to do it now but in a year or two, it would be definitely a good thing to do if I want to use this device long-term.

Other issues encountered: >Nothing noteworthy happened. Sometimes, there were times where the PC just froze and I panicked, but usually, I’m always able to guess why it happened: Sometimes, when I close the lid too fast, the PC doesn’t get enough time to shut-down properly, which means it’s still sleeping and I then just let it sleep for the whole night in my bag, which isn’t too good.

e. you sort the videos according to upload date and not quality or clicks. Which means some random videos no one watched can be seen. There, I only found one which was someone from America complaining about the Dell support as her PC was malfunctioning, the screen was flickering.

Although it was concerning, that she bought the laptop under similar conditions as I did, the student discount, there weren’t many videos of such type, so I assume it was just a one-time. Conclusion It’s also worth mentioning, that I have not installed any hardcore games onto this laptop, although it should be able to run those without effort according to its specs.

I mainly used Photoshop and InDesign and those worked flawlessly. I’ll just keep an eye on it and write another review after a year or so. I won’t discourage anyone from buying this laptop but I haven’t found any information about the thermal paste thing getting fixed, since this is the older model, I assume its still there and if you’re not couragous enough to open up your laptop in such cases, I recommend going for newer models (it would be a good assumption that they fixed it there but I’d still look around first or ask the Dell support, typically friendly.

Overall it’s a really nice laptop, runs smooth, fast with little noise & heat. Three small things to be aware of, the webcam doesn’t give a good resolution considering how advanced technology is today, I’ve gone back to using an external webcam of better performance for my conference calls instead, webcam also mirrors your image so everything you see is backwards, there is no option to reverse/flip mirror, would be nice to have a software update for that, I don’t know if this is Dell software specific or laptop specific.

Second issue is opening the laptop does require two hands, not a big issue and I can’t consider this a total flaw, I don’t know if it was an intentional design, because the laptop is so light there is no weight at the front, hence you need two hands to open, one hand to keep the laptop from lifting from your workstation whilst the other to open.

On the plus side it’s so light it makes up for the small issue, as a laptop I want it to be light or I would have just purchased a desktop, I guess this one is down to personal preference. And the third issue, there are actually two fan locations, first main fan is on the base which is normal and openly advertised, a second fan is located at the pivot point between the main laptop base and the opening lid/monitor screen.

This fan is only exposed if the laptop monitor is open for standard laptop use, which is a great idea for extra cooling. However if you do what I have and plugged in a HDMI cable to use/display on to a PC monitor with the intention of closing/saving your laptop screen the vents will be blocked and will cause heating trapped in between laptop over the top few rows of keys and base of the screen (this only occurs when I am running a mid to high spec game) this is where you will be glad to have purchased warranty/repair as I expect my screen to burn out quicker than anticipated even when I’m not using the actual laptop monitor.

I was reluctant to switch from desktop to laptop but this has made my purchase a good investment. It does everything I need and want, as tempting as it was to get a higher spec machine this one is perfect for a regular non I.

I have a new laptop and Dell docking station. Following your instructions on preparing docking station, it says I have to make sure BIOS and drivers are up to date. So I follow instructions, go to dell.

com/drivers. And I get a long tutorial on TPM and Bitlocker – you scare people to turn off Bitlocker before updating. But then your link is written at the level of IT professional. Elsewhere I find a video on your website on how to turn off Bitlocker.

I follow steps, but Bitlocker isn’t showing as On or Off on my data. I start checking all over the internet – why is my encryption device setting not showing BItlocker. Because Dell equipped my new laptop with Windows 11 Home – and it doesn’t come with Data Bitlocker.

That was a day of frustration. So I figure I’ll install Dell’s SupportAssist. Easy to find, downloaded, installed. Ran the program – nothing (‘had a problem, restart, try again’ was the message). Did that, same results.

Uninstalled SupportAssist. Went back to Dell. com, saw a link to check for updates – great! Found four updates needed, downloaded. And while doing it, the progress bar implies that SupportAssist is doing this (hmmm, I just uninstalled it).

Maybe this is your version online doing the checking. Meanwhile, it is over 24 hours now and I still haven’t hooked up to Docking Station so I can stop using the horrible low profile keyboard on the laptop to type all this stuff.

I can only hope that it gets better from here. Oh, and P. S. When I first started laptop it asked for Microsoft account (thank goodness I had one). And it asked for a PIN. Turns out THE PIN IS MY LOGON SECURITY ID! I was expecting to enter a password to unlock PC when it boots up.

So now I have to go to the internet to figure out how to change a pin to a password to unlock my Dell, just like I have used with Dells to date. At this rate, this is my last Dell purchase.

First review: At first sight this is a solid well built and high performance Laptop. I moved from a different brand that I’ve been very satisfied with for over 10 years and glad I did. The touchpad takes a bit to get used.

Its large which is good, however it some times causes unexpected cursor movement while typing. This is a preference, but the Shift Lock key is way too large; I often hit it accidentally while typing.

The cursor key arrangement is difficult for me; the up and down keys are very small. I love the look and feel of the case including the carbon fiber keyboard surround; however the edge of the surround in front the touchpad is sharp.

If I rest my hand on the surround to type, it tends to irritate my wrist. The audio is phenomenal. The facial recognition is the best I’ve experienced. Kind of a small thing but it would be nice to have a power symbol on the power button, but that’s just preference.

This workstation is heavy. Your fingerprints will stay everywhere on it; the keyboard, mouse, front, back, the cover, u have to find a way to clean it all the time. The I7 12 generation is not as good as I thought, the display output is from iris card not nvidia.

Suddenly with 16 GB RAM seems not to have enough memory. When you change settings to windows 11 pro applying changes take more time than on other laptops as a 2020 DELL with a lower configuration (an older processor, less RAM, no graphics card).

Compared with the laptop I mentioned before this one takes more time to start. The ventilator(s) produce some noise for 20-30 min at least twice or three times in a day. Its screen is awesome, I love it, I’d wished to buy 17” instead of this because the definition/quality, it is mate and this is great.

The power plug is loose but works is just I got used to have a firm plug-in. The keyboard is great, the size and feeling of the keys is super as well it’s distribution. I work with two screens, I couldn’t find a desktop PC, miniPC or workstation with these components (which I thought were a good combination ) but I highly recommend that if u need something like this device to work in a desk all the time and eventually have to take with u your laptop just buy a desktop PC and cheaper laptop.

I find this model should have more ports, when I ordered it online seemed to be enough but using every day it is not. The sound and camera are very good, u can close the camera using an small tab on top of it.

I have not tried with more high consumer/demanding softwares yet but compared with my old i5, 8 GB RAM no graphics card this laptop goes fine with 4-5 programs opened at the same time. I use this to work not gaming so I can not tell how good is for that.

Best laptop I’ve had yet, it even blows my workstation out of the water. Everything runs fast, compiling code takes virtually no time, I can run my games on it, it’s great. It is also very secure, and I have gotten a lot of use out of the finger printer reader/windows hello, the full disk encryption, and the boot password.

My only real disappointment is the lack of touch screen, because my last ThinkPad had one and I didn’t realize how much I used it until I got this one, but it’s definitely not a huge deal. The only concern I originally had was that it ran Windows 11, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with it, instead of trying to downgrade to windows 10 pro, which Lenovo does appear to offer on their support page, I’ve actually found it to be a fantastic operating system.

I did try dual booting and found that only the latest version of stock Ubuntu worked, Kali and Elementary both kernel panicked whenever I tried to run them, however this was when the hardware was just released, so I imagine this may have been a result of a not yet supported chipset or drivers.

I did also at one point need to completely wipe the computer and reinstall windows, which Lenovo does provide tools for, but again it was so new that only the French version had been released yet, however this was at worst a minor inconvenience using the official installer and the excellently organized driver library on Lenovo’s support site.
